Everyone is Welcome! TOPICS: Monday: Mission Monday New mission each week Tuesday: Target Tuesday We target something to work on Wednesday: Wednesday's Woes Our day to complain about anything and everything Thursday: Time for Us Thursday The day set aside to pamper us! Friday: Fabulous Lbs Down Friday. Report our losses! POINTS VALUES: STAYING ON PROGRAM IS 2 POINTS DRINKING YOUR WATER IS 1 POINT EXERCISING IS 1 POINT POSTING A WTG: A WTG IS WHEN SOMETHING NON WEIGHT LOSS HAPPENS TO YOU LIKE A NEW DRESS IN A SMALLER SIZE. TO POST A WTG, USE ALL CAPS AND POST IT IN PINK. FOR EXAMPLE: WTG: I rode my bike 2 miles instead of one today |
MONDAY: Today is Mission Monday and our mission this week is 4pters. Let's try and get a good week of the ole 4pters in girls!
Julie: Hey, I think anyone that is over 40 and can do what you are doing should be applauded, so here goes....:cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: :cp: Well, the codeine they gave Jack helped him to sleep some so I am sure he is on the mend. I am sick and tired of this stuff though. I can't stand not having the energy to clean and use my treadmill and such. I need to get going and get my morning chores going. You all have a great day today! I am looking forward to posting those 4pters from you! Faye :) |
Afternoon all, well it is Monday, so another start to a long week, ha! I had a couple of week moments over the weekend but all in all did not do too bad, still not a perfect non-cheating weekend though like I wanted, would help if dh would stick to his plan too!
Kim - Yes I remember you, come back around !! Julie - Did I miss something? You are not 40 yet? Right? Faye - Hope you are feeling better soon ( and Jack of course - sounds like he is worse ). Amanda and Leann - :carrot: Gotta run so just wanted to pop in and say "hi!" to all, will try and pop back in more later or tomorrow!! |
Hey all,
Today is the first day of my new plan - wooo-hooooo! :carrot: I am looking forward to seeing some excellent results! The thing with this no carbs in the evening thing is you just can't help but eat alot of veg - I had carbs and veg for lunch, and then protein and veg for tea - I feel so healthy! FAYE - Sorry Jack is so sick, hope it's not too serious. Love the new avatar! JULIE - You go girl - wow, that is alot of exercise! I think you should definately eat 1800+ cals on days with that much exercise. LEE - Congrats on the 1lb loss! CARRI - Sounds like your weekend wasn't a total washout - you didn't mention the P word so it couldn't have been that bad! KIM - Welcome back! Congrats on the weight loss - you must feel great. If i am corrrect, a healthy BMI is between 23 and 25, so you are a healthy weight now - well done! Hi to Susan! Love Amanda x |
TUESDAY: Today is Target Tuesday and our target this week is Carbs. They aren't bad, just have to be controlled. Try eating low carb/no carb pastas that are now on the market, read up on what carbs are good and limit the bad ones.
TO MY FAVORITE GALS, HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! :val1: I think we are finally getting Jack on the mend and there is always hope for me! Have a wonderful day today girls! Faye :) |
Complex carbs are good for us - try a new grain - barley, quinona, wheat berries. Makes a nice change from pasta or rice. There are many out there.
Simple carbs are not so good - they are the white flour, sugar, white rice, etc. type stuff and really need to be limited. 4 points for yesterday. Amanda - won't it be great if we could always remember how good healthy eating makes us feel! Now to get through Valentine's day. I am the recipient of a dish of assorted chocolates here at work - put it out on the counter for everyone else to enjoy and get it out of my sight! |
WEDNESDAY: Today is Wednesday's Woes, a day to gripe about anything.
POINTS: Susan :bravo: Hope everyone has a great day today! Faye :) |
Hi all,
2 points for me yesterday. I ate some valentine chocolate. THe calories I'm not too worried about, but I started eating "without thinking"--so I'm not counting my op points for that. Today's a dance day, and I don't ususally skate bec. I have to teach 2 classes. But I really want to! My body could use a break after the last 2 days. But I really want to! And next week is school vacation so there will be too many kids at the rink for me to really do anything....sigh. I'll probably go anyway. We'll see. Hope everyone is doing well! Julie |
Afternoon Girls ... I had a 4 pointer yesterday, worked my butt off at they gym with some cardio and weights ... my upper arms are really sore today...
OK MY WOE IS ... that I have been sticking to plan ( well 95% of the time, weekends are bad for me you know ) and even going to the gym 3 times a week and the scale has been stuck at the same weight for two weeks !!!! :( I think it is too early in the game for a plateau but I guess one never knows...I am going to get TOM tomorrow or Friday so I am hoping I can see a loss next week...I mean how frustrating !!!! I hope everyone had a good Valentines Day yesterday, me and dh did nothing except go to the gym together ... romantic huh? :D Well hope you all have a good OP day, talk later!! |
THURSDAY: Today is Time for Us Thursday so take some time for you today!
POINTS: Julie :dancer: Carri :bravo: Carri: That's a bummer, but hang in there, I am sure those ole scales with drop soon! Hey, just thing about how much all that exercise will improve your romance! :D Julie: Hope your classes went well. I have a plumber coming early this AM so I have to make sure the house is all ok so I got up early to get started. I hope they are on time as the water RUNS in our bathtub tap and boy will that run up the ole utility bill. Jack has been crawling into the attic and turning the hot water on and off so it doesn't run all the time. This stuff is so ancient, but we can't afford to have the walls ripped out to replace everything. Everyone have a great day today! Faye ;) |
Hi all,
Not feeling so good - TOM has hit hard and made me go off plan and I'm beating myself up about it. I just can't seem to get it together at the moment - I've been trying hard with my new plan and eating really well for breakfast and lunch, then blown it in the evning with pizza because I feel crappy. I'm hoping it's just TOM, but I have been feeling down recently which doesn't help - I'll try again tomorrow I guess! Love Amanda x |
FRIDAY: Today is Fabulous Friday Follies and our folly poll for this week is, what's the worst thing you ever did to your sibling (if you have one)?
Morning gals! My poll answer is hard because I was always on the receiving end of everything. My younger sister was horrible. We lived in a small town like Mayberry when I was growing up and you didn't get home postal delivery, you had to go and pick it up at the post office. I was a jr in high school, was responsible for my two siblings and running the house and had to walk to the post office to get the mail one summer's day (my mom was working) and when I got back, my sister had tied my 11 yr old brother to a tree out in the summer heat. She got mad at him about something and to punish him tied him to a tree. She was not quite Nelly Olsen of Little House on the Prairie, but she wasn't far off! Maybe the worst thing I did was marry Jack. She tried to "get" him and he ignored her. She is now in a lousy marriage with a very ego maniac man. Amanda: Just try hard to eat better things even if you feel the need to overeat. Make a homemade pizza with less cheese and more veggies, etc until you feel more like yourself. Women get screwed when it comes to losing weight because hormones play such a huge roll in our well being so just hang in there and remember it only lasts about a week. Oh, and try to prepare ahead of time for your next period. Have stuff in the house that is good to eat and filling in case of the bingy feeling you can't control! Like a boy scout, BE PREPARED! I am not a happy camper. The plumber came, fixed the faucets, but took the pipe and everything for the spout saying he would have to go to parts and get a new one. He isn't coming back until late this afternoon so we have no way to bathe! On top of that, Jack had to CALL to make sure they were going to come back today because no one called us with a time. He was also an hour late even though we were the first call he made, then charged us for 2 hours work even though he was only here an hour! Get this, the parts cost 60 cents and the bill was $200! I got up to go to the bathroom and found that the sink is still dripping that he supposedly fixed! On top of that, we bought the new garage opener and they have yet to call with an install appt. We called them yesterday afternoon and the girl got snippy about our contract reading they had 48 hours to call and set up an appt and Jack told her it was 50 hours when we called. She aquiesced and said she would check and call back, which she never did. If they don't call today, I am going back to Lowes and blow my stack! (Jack is not a forceful person when it comes to stuff like this and so I am going to have to be the butt kicker here) We bought 5 appliances, all our paint and supplies for the whole condo, all new lighting for the whole condo, some furniture and some small appliances there when we bought the condo and I am crawling up the manager's behind and tell them we won't even buy another light bulb in there if they don't get their act together and get our install done. I am going to tell him that we shouldn't have to pay for something that they didn't follow through with (of course the payment for this stuff has already gone through my bank! They are johnny on the spot with that!) Have to go girls! Have a great weekend if I don't get back in here. Faye :) |
Faye, you scare me sometimes!!
3 points for me yesterday, not quite enough water. Amanda, I hear you on the TOM thing. I'm in the same boat. I WANT SWEETS! I bought some skinny cows, ate one, and then went upstairs to watch the Olympics. I've never had a tv in my room before, but it's the only place we get good enough reception to watch NBC. I have to say, it's not too comfortable, but I don't go back and forth to the refrigerator all night. Carrie, hang in there--your plateaus never last long. Everyone have a great day! Julie |
Just popping in.. lots of packing, cleaning and throwing out of old crud...
3 points for thye last few days.. i hate water. :) -Lee Ann |
Hi all,
Well today is a new day and I will try again to stay on track - I've worked out that if I manage to stay OP for today, and all weekend then I will have been OP for 4 out of 7 days, which is actually quite good for me! I feel alot better today and realise that beating myself up is not helpful - this is the first week of a new plan and it's TOM so there was bound to be some problems! The good thing is I've been having some really healthy meals and other than pizza, I've cut right down on the processed stuff. Yesterday for lunch, I made stuffed peppers with veg and couscous - very tasty and really low fat and healthy. So all is not lost - I have made positive changes this week, so I'll focus on that. I did my cycle class at the gym today and it was the toughest one ever! It was a new instructor and the first thing he said was 'I like my classes to be tough and challenging' - now I like them tough, but boy this guy was in a league of his own! He kept making us sprint at really high resistance, and if he thought you weren't working hard enough he'd get off his bike and come and turn your resistance up higher! My legs were like jelly by the end and my face is only just calming down after 2 hours - maybe it was my punishment for having that pizza last night! I was meant to visit my friend today but I rang and she said she'd been burgled in the night whilst they were asleep - I'm not sure how much was taken, but their only car has been stolen from outside. I feel really bad for them as they have a new baby and need the car to get around. They are insured, but who knows how long it will take to sort that out. FAYE - Sorry for all your problems with the plumber - a good tradesman is like golddust - once you find one, never let them go! JULIE - Good for you for not giving in to your sweet cravings - I have been very weak willed this month! LEE - Hope the clearing and packing goes okay - you can call that your exercise! CARRI - I'm sure the weight will drop after your TOM is over - I predict you will lose at least 3lb!! Love Amanda x |
Amanda - you ARE doing great. Don't expect perfection, because we are humans. I'm sure that class worked off the pizza.
Carri - TOM was always the pits for me. Just don't let the scale rule your efforts and it will drop soon. Faye - I feel your pain with the workers. It's hard to get good ones anymore. Hello to everyone else - Stay on Track and have a good weekend! |
Good early Saturday morning gals! I twisted my shoulder in my sleep and it is bothering me so I decided to just get up and do some chores downstairs for awhile then go back up to bed. It is really nasty here as it has started sleeting so I will definitely be stuck in the house. I don't go out when it is slippery as I twist my knee so easily. I will send Jack out to the store later to make sure we have everything we need for a couple days then we will just stay in until it warms up and starts to melt.
I have my one bathroom's plumbing all fixed now, which is great and the guy is supposed to be here Monday early to install the garage door opener and take down the old one. I bet the old one is 30 years old so the old girl needs to retire! Amanda: How awful for your friend. Maybe it won't take long to get things straightened out so they can get a new car or at least a rental until they sort everything out. She should see if her insurance covers renting a car until the insurance pays off the other one. POINTS: LeeAnn: :cp: :cp: :cp: (don't know how many to give you so I will give you three!) Julie: :cp: Julie: Lowes was saved by about half an hour! They contract out their installations and the installer called me around 10:30 AM yesterday! You gals have a great day! Faye ;) |
Morning gals! Just a short post to put us back on page one. Hope you all are doing well, aren't too snowed in (we have nasty ice) and are keeping warm!
Have a great rest of the weekend! Faye :) |
hello,
Well I've reigned myself in and have had 4 point days for Friday, Saturday, and am set for one today too. I am already feeling the benefits of my new plan - my skin feels clear, I have so much energy and I just generally feel bright (of course some of that may be due to TOM being over - hurrah!). The down side is that all these veggies means I am constantly peeing!! I weighed myself today as I wanted to assess where I am after the pizza's and take it from there - I was very pleasantly suprised to find I'd lost 3lb! :carrot: Now this is the same 3lb I've been losing and gaining for the last few months - but this time I feel really positive about continuing to lose from this point on. I am going to give my new plan 100% for the rest of the month (about 9 days) and then weigh in again - I am hoping that by then I will have well and truly broken through this plateau! FAYE - Sorry you've twisted your shoulder, hope you aren't in too much pain. Hope everyone has had an OP weekend! Love Amanda x |
MONDAY: Today is Mission Monday and our Mission this week is strength training. Be sure and get some weight training in to improve metabolism and firm up those wiggly arms and thighs as you lose weight! Three times a week for just a few minutes will make a world of difference!
POINTS: Amanda :bravo: :bravo: Hope everyone has a productive day today! Amanda: Good for you! I know you are on your way again! TTFN Faye ;) |
Good morning! A few snowflakes = 50+ accidents on I64 this morning so it took me an hour to get to work. They just don't know to slow down on the bridges...snow is all gone now.
3 points for yesterday - didn't get enough water. This is the big week - quilt show! I'll get plenty of strength training lugging my sewing machine and supplies to class, all my purchases around and to car. Working as a "Presser-Dresser" for the fashion show on Friday night so that is 5 hours going at top speed and no sitting. Sunday I'm white glove hostess for 4 hours. I can hardly wait. DH was doing really well and improving but he caught a cold and is having a setback = not eating enough. Two steps forward and then one back. Amanda, I've lost the same 5 pounds and regained it for a year. We need to buckle down and get this going. Faye, hope the shoulder is doing better. |
Hey girls! I'm down another 2 pounds to 161 and going to a new martial arts practice tonight to try it out. It'll be fun to see how different they are from fighting in armor.
What else. We're packing still and we're getting so excited about the move! We've already put the order in to transfer the phone, etc over for the day of our move. The babies are unsure about what's going on, though, but we're saving their stuff fr last, so they're not too worried yet. :) Hubby is hanging on to the weirdest stuff. a paper bag that is older than me...? apparently it'll be worth something some day when there are no such things as bags made from PAPER.. lol! -Lee Ann |
hey there,
I got 4 points yesterday, making it 3 in a row - I am on a roll now! I am well getting into the swing of my new plan - the only thing is I didn't shop for enough provisions at my last shop so I am having to top up locally although there is not so much choice. It's all still a learning curve at the moment - working out different recipes and combinations of stuff and also knowing how much stuff I will need. It's all good though - I didn't think I was much of a cook, but I've tried 3 new recipes so far and they've all come out really well. Because I am not mixing my protein and carbs I am having to be more creative with my meal planning! Talking of strength training - I hadn't done any for about 2 weeks, so yesterday I did a full arms and legs weights workout. Boy am I feeling it today - particularly in my legs and butt from lots of squats and lunges! Then I was straight back today to do some cardio and then my fit ball class - I found the class hard (when don't I?) because I was so achy before I even started! trying to work out when your muscles are so achy makes everything feel like wading through mud! I got through it though, but think I'll probably have a rest day tomorrow. You are right Faye - strength training will really increase your metabolism and I also find that it really helps my posture. SUSAN - Enjoy your quilting show! Sorry dh has been knocked back by this cold, it's so hard when ones immunity is so low. Hope he has a swift recovery. Love Amanda x |
TUESDAY: today is Target Tuesday and our target this week is eating out. It is hard to stay with our programs sometimes when eating out. Try going to the restaurant websites and checking to see if they have suitable food for your program! Many restaurants like TGIF and Applebees have Atkins or WW choices.
POINTS Amanda :bravo: Susan :cp: LeeAnn: That is so funny about the paperbag. Glad your packing and such is coming right along. I know you will be thrilled to get into your new house! Susan: Hope hubby is feeling better and have a wonderful time with your quilt friends. Sounds like a lot of excitement! Amanda I am going to PM you a couple of lowfat recipes that are very tasty and not weird and best of all Easy! Jack eats them so anybody will. Have a good day group! I got my garage door opener in and my bed put in the spare bedroom. The cat loves the new bed now. I think because we put him in there when we have to go up into the attic, he thinks that is HIS room! lol Faye :) |
I went to the martial arts practice. I loved it. So many things carried over from fighting (also, so many things didn't!) It was weird being the only adult in the class (and not a particularly athleticly-built one, either!) but when the competition training began another two adults showed up and it was great.
All in all it was a really fun time, but you don't have to PAY for the first two classes.. ;) I'm being kind of stubborn about paying for it. After all, the SCA is free.... :dizzy: I'm down another 2 pounds to 159 (ok, and a half... sheesh) Hopefully I can keep going. -lee ann |
Hi all,
Another 4 points for me yesterday - that's 4 in a row! I wasn't too achy today so I went to my evening cycle class. Tomorrow I have a 10am appointment with my instructor at the gym to set a new programme - then Thursday it's a well earned day off - I am knackered! FAYE - that is nice of you to think of me regarding the recipes! I am a vegetarian, but I can probably adapt them. LEE - Congrats on the weight loss - you are doing really well. Love Amanda x |
WEDNESDAY: Today is Wednesday's Woes and you can gripe about anything today!
POINTS: Amanda :bravo: Amanda: I apologize as I did not know you were a vegetarian when I sent the recipes. I am not sure how much adapting you can do to what I sent though. Hope everyone has a great day today. Faye :) |
Good morning everybody!
3 points yesterday...not enough water. Stupid Olympics! I a hopeless Olympic junkie and it's been killing me staying up till almost midnight everynight. Thank goodness the kids are on spring break so I can at least sleep in a little! It's the same old story for me, though...my body feels like it's changing, but the scale ain't moving! I'm thinking about putting my needle-phobia aside for just this once and go in for a thyroid check. It's about the only thing I can think of that could be keeping this weight on me. I'm just so frustrated...at least the skating is going well. Lee, I can't believe how fast you're losing! I'm so jealous. Amanda, sounds like you're fired up again--good for you! Susan, I hope you have a blast at your quilting convention--You SO Deserve it!!! Carrie--HI! Faye--I hope the plague has finally left your home! Everyone have a great day! I'm off in a little bit for my skating lesson. Julie |
Woe is me! ... I can't really think of anything to "woe" about! LOL!
Have a great day everyone! -Lee Ann |
THURSDAY: Today is Time for Us Thursday so be sure and take some time for you today!
Julie :cp: Julie: Jack is better but the dr says he thinks mine is a combo of a cold and allergies so....It is always something with me! I told Jack yesterday that some people like the sympathy they get being sick, but I hate having to force myself to clean etc when I don't feel well and I hate not feeling tip top, exercising and the lot. I am giving it over the weekend then it is back to the dr for me if I am not completely better. LeeAnn: It is great when we have no complaints, isn't it? Faye's BooBoo of the week. I ordered all kinds of stuff to spiff up the house before my sister gets here including some beautiful blue, white and yellow plaid throw rugs for my living room. They were on clearance so I ordered 4 of them, thinking the largest one was a runner type thing to go between my kitchen and living room where it goes from carpet to linoleum and the others regular small throw rugs. OOOPPPSSS! They came last night and they are all huge. In fact, the largest one is a big area rug. The good thing is they are so large they cover all the icky parts of this darn shabby carpeting and really make the room look nice so alls well that ends well. Everyone have a great day. Oh, FYI I will set up the post tomorrow, but I will then be gone until Monday so hold down the fort for me! Faye ;) |
FRIDAY: Today is Fabulous Lbs Down Friday. What kind of losses do we have to report?
Gals, won't be back in here until Monday so you all have a great weekend! Faye :) |
Hi Everyone!
Not weighing today..but hope you all have a great weekend! Julie |
3 points yesterday...not enough water. We go through phases where our water tastes like sulphur and then a few days later it's fine....sigh. We need a system filter.
Now that the olympics are over, I can get back to a normal existence! TTFN, Julie |
Morning everyone.
Guess Faye's not here yet. I hope you had a great time, Faye. I've been experimenting with the idea that I may have a sensitivity to wheat/gluten rather than just "carbs" in general and I think I've proven to myself that I do. I've been recording my weight whenever I eat bread, pasta, or other "bready" things...mind you, I only eat whole wheat--so it's not just the "bad white carbs" I'm talking about....every time I eat so much as a sandwich or a 1 cup serving of WWpasta, I gain 4 pounds the next day  Then a couple of days later, it's back down to normal. Weird. So, if I can just manage to stay away from the bread--HA! I love bread--and Lee, we had a revel here this weekend with Patti's homemade bread!!! Seriously, though, I think if I could just stay away from it, stick to veggies and fruit and a bit of meat, I'd be down to goal in no time. Sigh. I'm trying the gluten free stuff on a lark, we'll see if it helps. Well, gotta go wake up the kids....Oh, Lee, that bday card you got for Ben was hilarious! and, of course, he loved the $$ :D Thanks! TTFN everybody. Julie |
MONDAY: today is Mission Monday and our mission this week is exercise routine or schedule. Let's all try to make up some kind of routine, with varied exercise to keep us focused and a fairly rigid time frame to keep us going!
POINTS: Julie :cp: Julie: Boy, it sounds like you have a real possible issue with glutens, huh? Who knows why our bodies do what they do? Hope what you are doing helps you right out! We had a nice weekend. Anytime Jack and I get away together we have fun. I did win $253 on a penny slot machine, but I was down about that much so pretty much came out even  We are trying to get everything ready for my older sister's visit April 1. I need to shampoo carpets again and I want to do touch up painting, clean the deck up for spring, stuff like that. I made a list and I hope to start with the painting today after doing my normal Monday cleaning. My back and hip are giving me trouble so I am hoping I can work that out and get the stuff done I need to. Please keep my dil's father in your thoughts and prayers. He has a really bad heart and I got an email from her last night and he is going downhill fast. He is Jack's age, but got into BIG trouble many many years ago with dope and had been in prison since then so he is not exactly getting top notch care. He is supposed to be released next year I think, but with the way things are, he may not live that long. Hope everyone has a super day! Faye :D |
Well, another two tae kwon do classes have come and gone and I'm completely hooked!
Because I've already fought for 10 years in a different setting, they invited me (a lowly white belt) to sparring practice where they just beat on each other until one gives. I surprised them by accepting all their heavy hits and blocking most every punch, but they kicked my poor behind with their kicks! Also, I'm so used to a weapon adding another 25 to 35 inches to my reach that I just couldn't hit them! I always ended up punching just short of their bodies! I was getting a lot of help from the top student (who's 8 years old...) and all I can say is... it was SO MUCH FUN!! :D I'm absolutely in love with this and it's revving me up for another 10 year tour in the SCA. (Even hubby is thinking about getting into it.) My next class is tonight... I can't wait! -Lee Ann 1 point... exercising and loving it! Don't know if I've been OP or not because I've been practising my kicks day and knight (pun intended, Julie!).. LOL ;) |
