Hello Diana! Looking forward to getting to know you better! Sorry to hear about your miscarriages and your father's ill health.
Marge: I just realized that your start weight is where I am now, and your current weight is my lowest weight in recent years. You really can understand what I'm going through! What did it take for you to finally start losing weight? I hope for your sake and all the other New Yorkers the strike ends soon..... |
hey there again
:D Hello there, Marge, and Kimberley, Glad to be back and Ty about my dad and the miscarriages...Lol, Kimberley about the memory, aint that the truth...and don't feel bad, I live in NY state and NYC scares the dickens out of me too, even my DH tries to stay away...but, I guess if you live there, you see it in a whole other light...we keep wanting to go down for a day trip to see the holiday lights and stuff on the train, but , again, we missed it...Maybe next year...:D Hello, Jen , and Ty too, it will be good to get to know you as well...I was your weight a year ago...I am 5'10 inches tall, and weighed 325 #s when I started...now I am at 295 #s...All of the 30 pounds was lost in the first couple of months and te last one ( so march, and april, then last month in October/November)..at least I didn't re-gain it...I started going to Curves religiously, then slacked off a LOT the last 2 months...so, next week, back to it, and walk walk walk out doors starting Monday as well...I have started eating smaller portions, and drinking a ton of water...every little bit helps...posting a pic of myself in the profile sometime today..that is what I look like now, and every few months I will take a new one...Well, Take care ladies, glad to be back, and TY again...Diana:carrot:
oh and here is my site: http://www.primitivepunkinpatch.com just now getting things ready for valentine's and St. Patty's |
Good morning ladies!
I spoke to Alan this morning. He is preparing for his interview that starts about 9 am. He is definitely not used to the cold! I survived last night without him, but I definitely did not sleep very well! I'll be picking him up at the airport about 8:30 pm tonight. Nothing else exciting going on at the moment....our office didn't win the Lotto last night (okay, $3!), so we showed up to work today. Oh well, it was fun to dream for a few days. Here's a fun question: what would you do with a million dollars? |
I think you might be a little surprised how unscary NYC is (except driving here, which I find scary, heh). I have to admit when I first came in the late 80s it had a real edge to it. Since then, it's changed dramatically. All the scary spots have moved out of Manhattan to the outer boroughs. I'd love to show you around, Kimberley, if you ever decide to try it. Or anyone else :) All the Christmas decorations are so fun, and Grand Central has a nice gifts fair, a laser show. I've seen it all so many times, sigh, ha. I still think it's special.
What did it take for you to finally start losing weight? I started having health problems, walking, breathing, with pains in my legs, then had to have a mammography, and I just knew I had to take charge of the situation or I'd be running into real trouble. I started with walking to 9th Street, which is about 6 short blocks. And I started following a Jenny Craig type diet at about 2000 calories. The first year I lost about 37 lbs. I had a hard time getting into a routine with the exercise and sticking to the diet, but I just kept at it and it got easier. To help with the mental part of the diet, not giving up when I hit rough patches, I started a journal keeping track of the weight loss, the amount of exercise, I glue pictures in it to inspire myself (mostly sports pictures, people horseback riding, biking, etc.). That might be more than you wanted to know, Feel free to discuss or ask any questions you might have. Bring up any issues you feel like you're struggling with. Between us all I bet we could help you out :) or at least make you feel better. Thanks for posting your site again, Di, those gingerbread door hangers are really cute; I like the snowflake snowman too. You're lucky to have a talent like that. Boy, I've been pooping out with the walks lately, I hate the cold. Suppose to warm up around Christmas, so I won't have so much of an excuse. It's good to have you back. Give us the link to your pic when you post it. With my million, I'd buy a big house in the Hudson Valley (with my own gym, a personal trainer that comes over once or twice a week -- he should look like a young Mel Gibson or Paul Newman). Take trips twice a year. Buy an RV to travel around the states in. Wow, think I'll need another mil?? heh heh. Have a fantastic day, gals. |
Hello
Hello and TY for the order Marge, was so surprised by that one LOL..I emailed you with the total and my address...I gave you another 15% off the price since it is a seasonal item and the season is almost over...TY again...
With me, it is all due to the fact, weight wise, that I have no confidense in myself any longer...Used to have so much confidense, and loved to dress nice...I am so tired of wearing fat clothes, and being out of shape and out of breath when we go camping and try to take hikes...That is so frustrating...And because of my fertility problems the weight loss would be such a help.. Hmmm if I won the lottery? hehe...I would pay off all old bills and debts...send some of it to animal shelters, and then sell our house and have a beautiful home built on 5 acres of land , part of itwould be a wooded area, with a pond, and a place to raise Bantam chickens, lol...that would be my paradise ;) Oh and of course I would probably get a boob job ( lifted not added to)...nice to dream eh? Well, if I don't make it on here later, have a great day ladies..:carrot: And Ty again Marge.. |
A million dollars...Wow. Well, let's see, I would pay off our debt, our folks' debts, my folks' house...Our friends' house. Pastor would love our tithe that week - LOL! Then get a nice little place in the country, nothing too large. New computers! Lotsa scrapbooking stuff so I could share it and make gorgeous things for people.
|
A million dollars--jeez, I'd first pay off my student loan, car loan, and credit card, then I'd use what I have leftover to maybe buy a townhouse. A million dollars around here isn't very likely to get a house with any actual land--how sad! But I could probably find a nice 2-bedroom, 2-car garage townhouse in a not-so-scary neighborhood :)
|
Guess I should answer my own question!
With my million, I would: --give a portion to charity (or use the money to start an ongoing enowment for a charity) --give my family members some money to do with what they want! --build the house that Alan and I really want, with a great home gym and a personal trainer 2-3 x a week --investments of some sort to use for fun things like vacations and such |
You're welcome, Diana. :) Can't wait to get it. And thanks for the extra discount. and with my million I think I might add on money to animal shelters and some type of firming up surgery too, heh heh.
Gotta go do a bunch of grocery shopping and last minute stuff (including dropping a check in the mail ;) ) HAPPY HOLIDAYS :wreath: and :wreath: to those who celebrate it, MERRY CHRISTMAS :xcheer: :present: from Brooklyn, NY :ginger: |

We've got the coveted disability placards now, so along with the wheelchair, we're all set for this afternoon and evening with our friends. What a cool thing to have them available (both the friends and the stuff, actually!). Howie's out putting CHristmas lights up in the van; we had some of those suction cup light hangers, so he's putting a couple strings of lights up in the van windows and we'll plug 'em into the invertor. Festive night, this!
Merry Christmas, y'all! |
You guys up yet? I'd imagine those of ya who work in offices might have the day off, eh? Unbelievably, Howie and I have been up for a half hour already. We got home from our friends' last night and were so pooped we were asleep by about 12:30am. I'd have stayed in bed longer, but my back bid me "get yourself outta here!". *yawn*
Friday was a big success, so much fun with our friends. Boy was that disability placard appreciated, especially once we saw the crush of cars at that mall. Here's Howie and the van's little tree. :santa: My MIL is going to help us clean the house today. My shoulder and lower back are still really bothering me, so Nancy said she'd help. Howie wants me to rest it so I can be in better shape come early January when he'll need the most help. He's getting the ornaments off the tree and disassembling it, so I'll have light duty today like wrapping the ornaments and putting them in their boxes. Right now, though, the heating pad feels realllllly good. ;) Didn't quite make the Christmas challenge, but that's okay. Still chuggin' away at it. Friday and Saturday kinda morphed into treat days, but yesterday we did really well at our friends' house. We brought a huge salad with lots of veggies and mostly had that. We ate little of the other food, and enjoyed two cookies each, and split a piece of bundt cake. OH...And had a bit of Irish Cream in our coffee. Yum! |

Great pics, Kimberley! Were your fur guys and gals as overexcited as our cat Chloe? She didn't know whether she was coming or going with all the wrapping paper and bows to play with, not to mention all the back and forth with the cooking. She got some toys too, not sure they interested her as much as the ribbons, heh heh.
We took a walk around the neighborhood and I took a couple of pics of some of the holiday lights. Here's one of the local firehouse all decked out for the holidays. Definitely a break weekend for me, diet and exercise wise. I'm going to the gym today, if it's open. I have to give them a call to make sure. I get today off, :carrot: Rob's renting a couple of videos right now. I think I'll just get in some exercise and chill watching movies. Last night I slept like a log (partly due to the heavier meal and partly due to all the champagne we drank with the heavier meal, heh heh). That felt so good. And the cat's completely crashed right now, so it's very peaceful here. Enjoy your day, |
Hi all, checking in.....
It's been a fun, long weekend.... Christmas Eve Day: shopped a bit...bought some new Yoga DVD's (www.yoganow.com) Christmas Eve: spent at home with my sweetie. He cooked us steak, potatoes and veggies. We watched a couple of DVD's, then settled in for our long winter's nap! LOL Christmas Day: Slept in, then met our friends for Chinese food, then a trip to an English pub where we took in beer, diet coke and played many rousing games of table tennis. Today: slept in again! then did laundry and cleaned house in the morning. Later, my friend and I went shopping while the men folk watched TV and cooked us dinner. They just left a few minutes ago... It's back to the office tomorrow for four days, then another 3 day weekend! See you ladies soon! |
Morning, ladies.
At work today, thought I'd stop by to say howdy. As you might imagine it's extremely quiet today. You know, Jen, the air fare from JFK to London right now is soooo cheap. About $150 rt. London is the next place I'd like to visit. Not sure when that will be exactly. I was totally shocked to get an email from the court about a woman who I work with whose husband just died. She just recently took time off for maternity leave. What a year it's been! Like one big karmic fart. It's comforting to think there's only a few days left of it. Here's to a better year. :carrot: |
