Turned out warm again hasn't it?
Last nights doozy storm cleared the air for a while, but the heat is slowly creeping back. We apparently had 6" of rain last night. Damage to some homes up the road from me. Lots of trees down, power outages and car accidents. 2 dead, 1 badly injured. And some who would be dead by their own stupid actions if their neighbours hadn't saved them from themselves. How stupid can we get? There were breaks in power lines all over the place. One idiot (there isn't a better word) decided to go out and 'shift the sparking power line' because it was TOO CLOSE TO HIS CAR!! Hello??? Is it me or are we getting stupider??? The one in critical condition had climbed onto his roof to see if the storm was abating - he got struck by lightning which went in through his chest and out through the back by the kidneys. Am I strange or something? What is wrong with looking out the window???? Maybe I just don't get life these days. :soap: End of rant.
Mel - I think it is very lucky that they don't have the restrictions on how many smilies one can put on the post these days. You have used them all with gay abandon. Our poor thread would be overloaded if Teel were here and posting. Linus - it doesn't seem that life is getting any more relaxing for you. Craig playing up, DH got the snits, CJ not settling. What's Connor up to? Not to worry about photos - we will get to see them when you get them from his computer to yours - or you can send me the online ones and I can distribute them if you wish. For heavens sake girl, get some downtime even if you have the baby with you. Let the DH deal with the police and Craig. You've done enough. Nae - how is one of our Mother's arm? We're sharing mothers now too. I'm sure that there will be enough to go round and round and round. Honey dippped - are you still there??? Okay, time to do the flylady thing. Two bedrooms and the dishes before 7.30 and it is now 6.55pm. Gotta fly. Oh nearly forgot. Christmas Lights around the city. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...lights2005.jpg We've had the odd problems with storms - knocked out whole suburbs displays. The people of the city have been donating bulbs to the owners to put the displays back on. One place lost 60000 Christmas lights in one night. Mother Nature sure is peeved off with us lot! :ginger: |
Morning, Shad. Thanks for sharing the light display! Big hugs.

Yikes Shad, 6 inches of rain! That's pretty scary. Enough to cause white cap rapids of water if you happen to be living on the down side of an incline. Glad to hear you made it ok. Did the water tank fill up?
It's just really, really cold here. 19 degrees. Cripes I may have to actually get my winter coat out of the closet ::shocksn: But it's suppose to warm up a bit by the weekend. Pretty lights that you have posted. I don't think I'm going to bother with outside lights this year. Won't be using them long enough. And I really need to get my act together with shopping and cards. Guess what I'll be doing all weekend? Ceejay, I know what you mean about the snow. I was sort of hoping to see a bit of it myself. Just a bit for a while and then it can melt! Linus, it's amazing that you don't lose your mind. Surely there's an end in sight to all you stress. :crossed: Mel, stay warm and spend those extra dollars well! May the angels keep their watch over you... Hellos to the rest of the chicks... including the drive by Miss Ruth! |
Good Morning ladies!!!!
Mel~ it is nice to hear you so much like your happy go lucky self. Ride this wave!!!!!!! I am waiting on the Christmas carols!!!!!! Shad~lots of excitment in your part of the world. Hope the job transition goes well. Happy~ HI! Linus~ all I can say is, been there. My hubby was a knob when my babies were new. Nothing like kicking a sleep deprived new mom when she is down. I have yet to figure what goes on in their heads. Empathitic, supportive vibes coming across the ocean!! Warm winter hugs to everyone. Well, cool breezy hugs for Shad. My sore throat turned into a wicked tummy virus. By 10am I was hurling. Between hurls I called parents to get their kids. DD went on a playdate and I spent the day hugging the toilet or sleeping. Today I woke up feeling fine. Lots of snow over night but busses are running. Just 2 toddlers this morning. My Avon is supposed to be in. I really need to clean the upstairs. It is depressing me. DH ran the dishwasher and washed all the pots but 1. LOL! Wouldn’t want to do a complete job. DS has hockey tonight and DD has her gymnastics recital. I have the market in the morning and then a Sam’s club run. DS has more hockey on Sat and then my boys are going to a pro game Sunday night. My Christmas gift to them. Gonna take it easy-ish today. |
Brrrrr it’s cold outside.
The pay check has arrived but I’m waiting until early afternoon to deposit it. It’s 15 degrees outside this morning. I ventured out yesterday to run errands. The roads here were clear but the tree’s had ice on them. It was a pretty sight to behold. We had freezing rain. I’ve decided that it is to cold for me to get out on the road by myself to travel to Paragould today. The high is suppose to be 33 degrees. Tomorrow it will be warmer a high of 42. The wind chill tonight is predicted to be 5 to 10 degrees. The land lord would be upset if I left the and pipes freeze. I’ve addressed Christmas cards. For the rest of the holiday season I will not be obsessing about food. For the past 3 years my weight has fluctuated between 189-180 pounds I’m either not trying hard enough or my body has settled at this weight. I will be continue to watch the intake of fats etc because of the triglycerides, cholesterol and blood sugar level problems. However, they were in good range on last doctor’s visit. My plan to do this is to eat from the new food pyramid and add more fiber. It’s time to fix breakfast and call my uncle. Shad--Kind of sounds like you had tornado. The light show is awesome. There is miss Ruth again. Nice to see you. Holly--Glad you are feeling better this morning. Do you have strep throat? Nae-- How is your mother? Hello to Mel, Meadow, and Honey. |
Skids wildly into the chickydom...
Good morning/afternoon/day/night everybody :D I have 10miles under my belt so far this week:carrot: and frozen shortbread cookies last longer:p so certain people only eat three a day instead of eight. Progress of a sort:dizzy: at least I persevered with the exercise and didn't just say "maybe next week" I intend to do another 4miles before Sunday, wouldn't want to do less than last week, that would be slacking;)
Holly- projectile vomiting, how awful for you. Are you getting enough to drink, you will dehydrate and get dizzy if you aren't careful. Eat some oranges, the mandarins are extra sweet this year. Mel-Wow, Jen's window art sounds very eye catching. What a great idea to frame the tree within the design, isn't she a clever one? So where are you storing all these wheels you have now? certainly spoiled now aren't you? Such a great feeling I'll bet, lifts those worries right out of you. What song shall we sing today? Have yourself a merry little Christmas, let your heart be light and may all you troubles be out of sight... come on help me here, I'm struggling for the structure of the lines, merry muddles:^: :candy: :coffee2: Shad-yikes a doodles! People playing with live power lines and dancing on the roofs during lightening storms and becoming human glow bulbs:hot: :yikes: that is just insane! Gives me goosebumps just thinking about it. Of course I adore a good thunder and lightening storm myself but I would be lounging back from the window and taking in the view not out in the midst of it taunting mother nature :chin: Glad you didn't have any major floods and the roof stayed on. Best of luck with your phone interview, I'm sure you will impress and delight them. I think Christmas lights are beautiful, I saw an entire program about a street in Edmonton where the entire neighbourhood tries to top each other every year and collects stuff for the food bank. It was great :D Ceejay-bracing for the cold excursion to the bank, watch out for those falling frozen branches, good call on waiting until it is warmer. I've seen those ice storms on the tv and it looks very dangerous. Linus-good gravy, I'm getting on a plane and coming over there:devil: I sentence the men/boys in your family to sensitivity training and insist that you get a babysitter and go to the hairdresser for a new cut and style to recharge your batteries :judge: :tired:  You are a new mother for pete's sake, you should be getting applause, flowers, dinner made for you :encore: Get out of that house! :cheer: Go Linus, Go! Take care. Happy-need to get some of that squirt hand stuff to stop the cat dander mischief. Antibacterial, you don't have to wash it off or wear gloves, but then the kitty might think you are a cat toy :p Good luck with the gang at work, you sound very busy. Rose-I float good energy and healing vibes to your/our mom ;) I hope she is getting lots of happy faces and signatures on her cast :D Bet she will be enjoying some extra attention this holiday season as everyone/everywhere asks what happened :gossip: Tig-so what are they going to test next? Good that the MRI showed nothing:carrot: So Florida has the fastest mail service in the world, they should advertise that  Maybe you should email the postmaster and compliment them on their quick and efficient service. I've heard the mail folk have issues and could use some encouragement:devil: Honey-dipped-yes, shortbread cookies are tasty and delicious and like the sirens call to me from the freezer. Shameful willpower but I'm a food addict and I have issues :p  If celery gave me the same mouth feel I might, nah, psychologically I know, it is the calorie laden that has the power to make me munch :lol3: Good to have you with us :D Teel-HELLO! Have a wonderful Christmas! How are you feeling? Getting some good sleep in? Ruth-how kind of you to stop by. How are you? What mischief are you plotting? I hope you take some time this season to tour your neighbourhood and look at the Christmas lights. We have been doing it every week since the end of November to check out who is putting up what. Lots of cut out snowpeople and reindeer around here :D |
Morning all,
Well after a basically sleepless night, it's just coming up to dawn and the sky is beautifully pastel hued. For once it is fairly cool and shortly I am about to take my frustrations out on the garden weeds. Why am I frustrated and sleepless in Logan? Well DB2 decided last night was another good time to dump his woes on my doorstep. Yep, appeared around 7.30pm and told me of his latest attack of the wobblies and his dire financial situation - guess that is my Christmas gift from him!!!! I feel sorry for him but quite frankly he now needs more professional help than I can give and he refuses to get it. Apparently it is not macho to be depressed (but I'm not depressed! Huh, wot!) Arrrrgh, thanks bro. Sorry about that rant, we are all starting to just come into the spirit here and whammo, Shad busts the mood. Ruth - great to see you in the thread and posting occasionally. I try to read the Beach daily thread to see whats going on in your world. Somedays I get there, somedays I don't. Had to laugh at the dogs getting into the Choc. Sounds like Shad the dog is guiding from above. He was a good chocolate eater - no wonder he had few teeth left. BTW how is the DK? Mel - the older I get (and I am getting there by the minute) the less tolerant I am of the stupidity of man or humanity should I say. I mean to say, can any of you see the sense in spending 15 minutes of your time destroying the creative Christmas lights neighbourly people put up and light from the goodness of their hearts and in the spirit of Christmas. It's a fun thing to do, it costs them lots of money, for some it takes a load of their valuable time and it brings joy to the old folk who go on bus tours to see the various surburban and city displays and gets people out and about from all walks of life and heaven forbid, forgetting their differences and talking to each other. The majority of people who put on displays are normal everyday average suburban householders. They are not rich or even in well paid jobs. They do it in the spirit of the season. There is a competition run by the Councils for the 'best street displays', ' best house' etc. etc. Then some of these low lifes come around and smash up the display and destroy the equipment. Mother Nature is doing a good enough job of belting us about without the idiots. Okay Shad :soap: time is over. :soap: :soap: Shut up, get over it. :soap: Stand for council and law and order if you want to do something about it and stop harassing the worldly chicks. :soap: Happy, my water tank is full and overflowing. The rain all came down within minutes and the guttering simply couldn't handle the volume. It was like Niagara Falls all around the house and there where water spouts coming from the downpipes. Actually it was like looking out through a curtain of water for some of the time. And if I don't get my cards away this coming week, they will never get to where they are going either. Fortunately most of them go out in e-mails these days. However there are still a few that get posted. I was finishing up the Christmas letter last night when the DB arrived. That put paid to any spontaneous joy coming into the letter. Holly - glad to hear you are over the bug. Did you compliment the DH on doing the pots and dishes! Nice gesture, deserves a hug and nice words. Often sugar is better than harsh words. Ceejay, you must be the best tenant in town worrying about the landlords pipes instead of going away and enjoying life! I always remember when I was renting in Townsville, we had a cyclone and the windows leaked. There was a lot of water all around the house. I rang the landlord and told him that apart from the water there was no damage to the house. He was so surprised to hear from me. Apparently none of his other tenants ever got in touch to tell him how the house was or how the rental agency was treating his property. But I don't think I would have stayed at home just to keep the pipes safe. Hiya Meadow - geez you have put some miles on the clock this week. Well done. And well done on the freezing of the cookie monster as well. Isn't it such a shame that most of the good things of life are likely to settle around the hips. Just not fair. Okay, so the day is dawning beautifully bright and clear. I reckon it would be good to get off the butt now and get it started. Weeds and fertiliser here I come. Catch you all later. |
'Evening chickies,
I kind of forgot it was Friday night and then I realized with total joy and delight- I DON'T have to go to work tomorrow   of course it's going to be a terrible, horrible, really really hard week next week but I'll worry about that on Monday. Cards will get done tomorrow. Really they will. I checked out a gym tonight after dinner. It's new and pretty close to my house. Do you have early morning and late evening classes I asked? You know to accomodate those who have a job during the day? Oh of course. One spin class at 5:15am - the only "spinning" this girl does is twirling on the floor if they play a really cool song on a TV commercial. There's some yoga classes at 6 I might take but nothing else. No water aerobics until 8am. What's with that? And they have a beautiful outdoor pool. I asked if there are separate times for adult swim - good question my tour guide said :chin: guess I just :dunno: Don't get me wrong, I like kids but at those rates I'm paying to come and work out, not dodge the little buggers whose moms are not paying attention to them. And I'm not too keen on swimming in the kids pool - leakage problems, you know? Guess the adults use the indoor lap pool and that's that. Interesting that they can't come into the gym unless they are 18 but are free to get in the pool. Ok, I'll let it go. They do have personal trainers and nutritionists. But some tiny voice in my head said this isn't the club for me. I'm mostly looking at a place right now for a pool and this place would be easy to drive to, even with my desire not to drive when it's dark outside. DH said he would drive me but I don't think he REALLY wants to crawl out of bed at 5am. DH said he's not really interested in a health club right now himself - he just started school again so I'd pretty much be on my own. I don't know, have to give it some additional thought. Shad, I hope you will be supportive to DB but not get yourself tangled up in solving his problems for him. He's still got some mileage left on the last "give your old brother a ride" ticket from a while back. I know it's hard to turn away a sibling, do what's right for both of you. Tell him you'd love to help except that you have some needy friends in the states who are just chomping at the bit to see your smiling face again :D :D :D :D Sounds like you're going to have a lovely day to give the garden the once over. Make the most of it! Perhaps you should build a boat ramp for the next heavy rains and invest in an inflatable raft! Meadow, I'm afraid that antibacterial hand wash won't do squat for the power of a cat's dander  but thanks for the suggestion. Next week I want to hear that you've got at least 12 miles under your belt, ok? And I challenge you to skip a day on the cookies - only because I can't have them either :^: Argh Ceejay - you got the sleet after all? We didn't thank goodness. Be careful out there. It's supposed to be 15 tonight here too. I think the new "trend" in diets is the non-diet. Like your food pyramid. My doctor gave me a simple diet, DH went to the doc today who did the same. No gimmicks just cut the fats and sugars, watch the carbs, control your portions. Don't deny but know the difference between what you can eat Occasionally and what definitely doesn't mean each and every day. I had grilled tilapia (fish) with steamed veggies and a bit of a ceasar salad that was too heavy on the garlic dressing. Had a slice of brown bread - it was really good but I stopped at one small slice. And I was quite satisfied with my meal and brought 1/2 home for lunch tomorrow. Of course now I'm sitting here and would love to nibble on something but thank goodness nothing is here but DH's too sweet pineapple upside down cake. I really don't think I can trust myself with Christmas cookies so will have to find a use for all this flour and sugar I have laying around here. Holly, so your husband waited around to make sure your car was ok and then ran the dishwasher and did the pots? Perhaps if you said thank you instead of calling him a knob or making noise because he left one pot and he might surprise you and do it again. And yes, I know that no one ever thanks us for all we do. You can grow cobwebs waiting so I stopped expecting it long ago. Mel, I hope the snow stayed away and that you got all snuggly with Harry Potter today. Stay warm and take care of yourself. Tell them the clanger must have frozen and you didn't hear if they try and call you on the telephone to suck you into the web of work  Did you know there's a picture of Miss Ruth on the home page of the website here? You have to scroll down to the bottom and read an article but it's nice to put faces to names. Ruth looks just as warm and inviting as I pictured her. Linus, how delightful that there's a little girl in the family now. You're right. Long name for such a little baby. Hope all is well with the sister. Sounds like you and she need a get away weekend. I will accept not getting pictures as long as we see some updates eventually. But don't rush, before he's old enough to snap his own pic would be good  Nae, give us an update on your mom if you have a few minutes. Where's Teel run off to? Is she off with Honey Dipped? Did they gang up with Painterwoman? Has Tig taken them all for jogging lessons? :dancer: It's quite cold outside. I have a nice, very soft, very warm blanket to snuggle up in and I don't have to get up EARLY tomorrow. Life is grand. Give me a call if you want to do my cards and shopping, I will reward you handsomely. ;) |
I am very kind and gracious to my husband. ALWAYS. I was joking about the pot. I thought it was hilarious.
I can honestly say in ten years not a single person in this household had ever thanked me for doing the dishes 3 times a day or scrubbing toilets or meeting all of their daily needs without them ever having to ask. I do get lots of hugs and lovin from the kids. My husband is no walk in the park but I love him deeply. I wonder if any of you had to deal the major heartache he put me through in the early years and his emotional/physical/and psychological distance while he went through a major depression/life crisis for a few years if you would be so quick with the advice. Venting here a bit helps is all. humming stand by your man............. |

Mel--Yeah Christmas music. I'm going to Paragould today. It's nice and sunny outside and not as cold.
I’ve been up for an hour and have vaccumed the bedroom and living room floors. My how dirty they have gotten! Now to finish the kitchen. I need to put a load of laundry in to wash and get ready to go to my uncles. My aunt wants me to come by noon to go hit some sales. I’ve just about decided not to go to Kentucky since the weather has been so unpredictable this December. I hate to be 7 hours away and trapped by some bad weather. I’ll plan another trip there in the spring, May or June. Yes I realize that Eli will be almost three by then. No time for comments will do that Sunday afternoon. Sometime back I mention that I was going to take a financial hardship. Yesterday as I was about to call Prudential the phone rang. It was a financial group that could lower my interest rates. I'm trying that for a while especially if I can get the 15.99 interest rate down to 5.99. This is my highest credit card. I was skeptical cause there was a fee, but decided to go with it. The clock seems to be ticking to fast this morning. |
thanks
Good Morning Everyone, Thanks so much for your thoughts and good wishes and prayers for my mom. She is doing great and is going home today if everything is good at the time of the dr. visit. She is up and around and going to be living with that external fixature for quite a while.....It was so difficult waiting and waiting for word the night of her surgery. I ended up in a conflict over the phone with a male nurse named Rolando...which in my mind I could see the maid from the movie birdcage...remember how funny he was..... oh my gosh I told the other male nurse that maybe Rolando should consider his career decision........ it was just out of control for no reason.
Hope all is well with everyone....Miss Mel I get a warm fuzzy feeling just reading your post and knowing things are right in your world..... Shad I am just in awe at the storms happening down in Oz these days...... very odd. The holidays approach and so many details to get tooo, I better get busy...... I find too much pleasure playing with my puppy, watching the herd of elk on the hill..... it is a deep freeze here right now and will continue....-20 in the mornings.....brrr! Love to all of you, Blessings, Nae |

My family ,marriage and work I do ,IS my life. It is who I am . I never considered hiding it. I dont really understand that.I know it is how a lot of the world functions but it doesn't feel good to me.
I am not ashamed of it.It is part of life's journey. I like the frankness here. It did hurt to think that I am perceived as not being loving and kind to my husband after knowing some of you for so long. I felt really misunderstood. Maybe I am better off in the journals. I am a journalling kind of girl. |
Okay, O Musical Ones.... WHAT are the more of the words to the song and who sang it and am I making it all up? Run, run, Reindeer...
Today was the 5K Reindeer Run. I had a good run for me and ran the entire race. I didn't place, but my time was very good for me. Sadly, Slim injured his back during the run so he's taking a nap and I'm taking care of him for a change. Poor guy. :sorry: Because of the back injury, not because I'm taking care of him. :p Thanks for the news about your mom, Nae. I'm making the SuperCape for darling DGD today. Slim has the two-way radio so I'll be at his beck and call if he wakes up. :listen: |
Tig,
My guess is that you're talking about Run, Run, Rudolph by Chuck Berry Out of all the reindeers you know you're the mastermind Run, run Rudolph, Randalph ain't too far behind Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town Santa make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down Run, run Rudolph 'cause I'm reelin?like a merry-go-round Said Santa to a boy child "What have you been longing for??br> "All I want for Christmas is a Rock and Roll electric guitar?br> And then away went Rudolph a whizzing like a shooting star Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town, come on Santa make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down Run, run Rudolph, reeling like a merry-go-round Said Santa to a girl child "What would please you most to get??br> "A little baby doll that can cry, sleep, and wet?br> And then away went Rudolph a whizzing like a Saber jet Run, run Rudolph, Santa's got to make it to town Santa make him hurry, tell him he can take the freeway down Run, run Rudolph 'cause I'm reelin?like a merry-go-round |
Holly don't be annoyed, no one wants you feeling squishy. It is hard to judge humour on the threads.

Sunday, comes to soon!
Why is it that the weekends go so fast and the weeks not so fast? I mean all days seem to whizz by these days, no doubt due to advanced age but the weekends go twice as fast. Here it is Sunday and although I did a lot of work yesterday, there is still as much on my plate as ever there was and there is only one day left to do it.
We're a chatty bunch here today are we not? And I see we have gotten ourselves an international incident as well. Let me just say this, it's my last word on the subject. Some of us are married, some have been married (some more than once) some are single. When we give advice, it is made up from several factors. What we see the comment as, what we percieve the comment to mean, our own experiences, and the help/ support factor which is dominant in the majority of women and which is certainly true here. If I got it all wrong then I will apologise for my comments. I simply didn't understand the way the comment was written. Such is the joys of having international friends. One must think carefully about how we say/ do/ write things and one must listen/ read/ see carefully and attain all the salient facts and take the appropriate actions to suit ourselves and not hurt others. The decision to come/ go/ post is personal. I can make no comment on that. Generally but definitely not always it is easier when all speak English as we do, however this just shows how easy it is to misunderstand. Maybe I should give out Aus/ Kiwi English lessons again. Now if we all spoke the Queen's English like Teel, we would all be okay. :queen: Speaking of Teel, her computer is bust according to Linus. She is well and sounds okay but the repairman is not hurrying. She will be back when she gets things up and running again. Linus has sent me some photos of the 'wee bairn'. I will reproduce a couple at the end of this post and then some more in the next post. She has a couple of bairn free days coming up so we may hear some more from her. Thanks for the comments re DB2. Yes I will be supportive, but this time he is really going to have to get himself together. If/ when he comes back today to see me (I asked him to, but he probably won't, I'll have to drag him in) I have a few suggestions for him. One is that he passes over all his financial stuff to me - cards, bills, bank accounts, etc. I will work with him to keep a roof over his head and get the bills down. The second is that he must seek some personal and professional help. I can't carry him along with me. I'll keep you posted. Mel - I see you are back to singing in halls etc. Aren't you the bright cheery soul. It's good to have you back as you were (more or less - you are a bit more aussie-fied now) What are you doing in the halls? Hoping to run across a wayward fireman or army lieutenant??? Ceejay - have a good trip to Paragould. A Merry Christmas to the Aunt and Uncle (our adopted international family seems to be growing). Drive very carefully and come back safe. I understand your concerns about a 7 hour drive in snow and ice. But it does seem sad that you won't see that part of your family before or during the Christmas season. Rose - good to hear that Mom is on the mend. We've been waiting for that news. It sounds so beautiful but so cold where you are. :yikes: Stay warm and dry. As for the 'altercation' with Rolando, don't fret. Those nurses get that alot. They know it is fear, worry and stress mostly that gets people in that groove. Next time you see the nurse, just smile and get on with the day. Tig - so sorry to hear Slim is not well. I'm sure your caring will get him back on his feet soon. The cape sounds wonderful. And congrats on the run. You're doing so well with your 5k runs. Which brings me to today's silly question. How come they work in miles, feet and inches in the States and yet have 5k runs? Or have I asked that question somewhere before? Right now who is missing? Painter - where have you gone to this time?  Honey-dipped - Hello, hope all is well with you. Time to move it along and spreak some more muck in the garden. A couple of hours solid work should see the back finished. Then the front. Have to try to save what I have got there even if I do decide to dig it all up and change it around later. See you soon. Oh yes the photos. http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...CJStewart1.jpg http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...CJStewart3.jpg |
HUGS dear chicks. I was going to post and got bumped off and then Shad's post appeared.
HUGS Shad. Mel is right, as are you. Not really annoyed here, more like overly sensitive. And I do agree about the international differencees and tones and being hard to "read" sometimes. I apologize. It is nice we can talk about it AND let it go!! I had a nice trip into Sam's with DD. The big gift I was to get there was a really ugly coffee mug with really yummy chocolate in it.I will be sharing that. I do think I need to take a break from the forums or at least try to. I feel such a strong connection to the friends I made in the journals 2 years ago and then newer friends here. Life had changed a lot for me in 2 years. I have way less free time and I try to squeeze it all in. I care about everyone on this thread so much. I post to stay connected but I dont think I have been a good friend in giving enough back to each of you personally in a few months and I have felt crappy about it. The only peaceful time I have some days is when I sit here and read. As far as the diet goes I have been pretty stuck. LindaT said a while ago whan you are ready you will just do it. So maybe the time is not right. I also fear if I dont post and connect that I will gain 50lbs. There is an accountablity and reminders. Anyhow I am going to try and do things a bit differently. I respect and value all the things you have shared. Much love and well wishes. I will pop in but not every day. HUGS and LOVE. |

Jingle Bells
Well the shortbread cookies in the freezer are gone, all eaten by me only more slowly. They lasted the week rather than a couple of days. I'm not baking any more cookies, unless they are those sugar cookies from the store that you just cut and cook. I don't like those and will not be tempted but it will give the kids a nice Christmas treat, their taste buds are very simplistic, sweet or sour. Pickles or sugar.
Mel- shortbread especially the Scottish kind is addicting, beware! Now I had the Beachboys version of that song going in my head, when you said it was Hanson I was Okay, wonder how different those harmonies are:p How grand that you decked the halls with tinsel.:carrot: :xcheer: Shad-poor little brother, he is so confused and needs you. Think about how you would feel if he crashed and hadn't tried to work it out and ask you for help. Be tender with his bruised ego, you know what guys are like. Tell him he can repay you by doing some painting or digging, labour for labour sort of deal, that way maybe the process will stick in his head and he will not repeat his errors in financing. Not that I can talk, we are in debt up to our eyeballs with this house and all the bills. I guess I just feel sorry for him and wish I had a financial wizard in my family who I could go to and sort things out:p How precious is little CJ! Oh dear now I want to be pregnant for Christmas. Wonder if my hubby and the stars will co-operate :lol3: Baby faces make me so happy. Holly-totally understand that you are in a time crunch. Ease back, breathe and just read and stick your tongue out at me now and again;) Linus-OMG, you are free! Don't clean house, get out!! Do some lovely window shopping, buy some new shoes, get a new lipstick. Come on you deserve a treat.:bubbles: Ceejay-good luck with the finances. It is tough to keep ahead of things these days, I've got the same issues. Have fun shopping with your Auntie, it is so wonderful in the malls this time of year. Take some time to just soak it in, it will lift your spirits and make you smile. Rose-wonderful that your mom is in good spirits. So the nurse is a bit of a pain, smile and be chipper, the grumpies can't stand it and will stay clear of you :D Tig-a two way radio? wow, that beats screaming at the top of the lungs. What colour with the supercape be? Red? Yellow? did I miss a description somewhere? congratulations on getting a run in and I'm sorry your hubby is feeling some residual affects:stars: Happy-good to have you as the song lyric reference, I haven't heard Chuck Berry singing anything in like forever. Made me wish I had a CD of all those 50's/60's stuff. :wave:PainterWoman, Honey-dipped, Linda, Teel(rotten computers):goodluck: :ginger: |
Oh cripes, I forgot about "Little Saint Nick" by the Beach Boys. And I was even listening to it today! Mel you remain the resident queen of singing and lyrics
Ok, just peeked in, I'm supposed to be doing laundry and getting those Christmas cards done. Back later... |
Thanks for the tunes!! I'll sing to Slim and I'm sure he'll be all better!
|

Hi oh my those pics of the CJ are so great.... what a precious bundle. Thanks for posting them for us.
Tig, hope the back problem for SLim is temporary.... wow you guys are so active and it is great you are out there racing. Update on my mom... she is still in the hospital and has developed a slight fever. Tomorrow I hope the news is she is ready to be discharged but just have to wait and see. Thanks for you prayers and concerns...they helped I know. Have a great weekend. Peace, Nae |
It's a drive-by holiday greeting!!
:snowball1 Just wanted to pop by and wish everyone an early best of the season.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, have a nice crisp Winter Soltice (just to cover a few of the bases)... Ok to be honest, I'm procrastinating doing work on a document I'm writing on a tight deadline (concurrent job #2), but still the sentiments are there. ;) Sherry |

CLOSET STILL NEEDS WORKING ON. MY ARM WAS STIFF TODAY AND I WONDERED WHY....I FORGOT I WROTE OUT ALL THOSE CARDS! GUESS NEXT YEAR I WILL DO 1/2 :write: THEN 1/2:write: . :dizzy: I SLEPT IN LATE AGAIN...ALMOST 8. VERY UNRELIABLE:dunno: HAPPY SUNDAY/MONDAY CHICKLETS AND HAVE A GREAT DAY NO MATTER WHICH ONE IT IS! :moped: PS~ WONDER WHAT LINUS DID WITH HER FREE TIME:?: :lol3: :lol3: |
Good morning all!
Holy cow Mel, you did ALL your cards in one shot! Whew... no wonder the arm is sore. Next time gotta pump up before you get your writing arm primed. :workout: Hey Madcat, wonderful to see you. I was just trolling the journals the other day wondering what happened to you. And a happy winter's solstice to you too. You know we are all hanging by the edge waiting to hear what's going on in your life. (We live vicariously through others  ) Will continue the healing thoughts and prayers to Slim and Nae's mom. This is not the time of year to be down and out of it. Meadow, glad the good cookies are gone. The best ones are the one's you don't like  Are we going for 20 miles this week? Holly good luck with whatever you choose as you next phase. Sometimes like a diet or exercise, you just have to mix things up. I think we all can relate to the too many things, not enough time syndrome. And 3FC can take up alot of time that should be spent on other stuff. Shad, thanks for the update on Teel and the posting of little CJ's pics. He looks so sweet and adorable. Not at all the little robber of sleep and grand wailler that he was described. They can fool you into a false sense of security, can't they? ;) Did you get your garden all tilled as you had planned? Hope you made good use of some alone time Linus. I have a busy day ahead and nothing will get done sitting in front of the computer. My coffee is gone and so should I - have a good one and hellos to the rest of the chicks. |
Never Too Old To Learn New Tricks
Lesson for the day......never, ever, drive :moped: into a closet bent over and head first. Because there is a good reason why there is a suffocation warning on those plastic dry cleaner bags!! :fr:
It's funny now but when it happened I was praying alot!! Jen came for a fast visit and has since gone. All boxes are put away and all that's left is Hoovering, light dusting and washing kitchen and bathroom floors. They are small so no big deal.:dizzy: :hohoho: HOPE YOU ARE ALL HAVING A "SEASONAL" DAY!! :snowglo: :coolsnow: :ginger: :rudolph: :wreath: :xcheer: :tree: :candy: :present: :stardav: :han: :dreidel: :coffee2: Happy, I am having my coffee right now so let's have a date!:cofdate:..... except mine is iced! :coolsnow: Have a good day too:carrot: PS CAN YOU TELL I AM GETTING MY USE OUT OF THESE HOLIDAY SMILIES WHILE THEY ARE HERE?! THANK YOU 3FC!!!!:elf: |
I'll join you for a quick cup. "cofdate" Just finishing mine up before dashing out the door to early gym and then ferry ride up the river.
|
:cofdate: SO GLAD YOU COULD JOIN US MISS SHADDIE:cofdate:

Asleep at the wheel?
Drat.
Apparently I missed some "incident" and things are changing. Eeek. I wanted the ONLY change to be the cessation of boob peeling post-radiation. Nobody else was supposed to rock the boat, etc. etc. I promised myself 3 loads of laundry and fill the bird feeders and the day is growing old (as am I, but that is a totally different issue.)... So I can't go back and re-read everything... I hope all is well, and that everybody will touch base here occasionally.... I'm miffed that the automatic post-update apparently doesn't work since the site revision....that's my excuse for not posting more regularly.... So... off to the birds... and in the meantime... does anybody have a suggested exercise that I could to do strengthen my lower back muscles... apparently my weight gain/shift is sufficient to really pull those muscles now? Please PM... thanks!! |
I'm drinking coffee at this moment too :coffee::coffee2: :candy:
:o Mel, now slow down! :bike:Attacked by the closet isn't something you want to tell the firefighters, you missed your chance with the cookies, you could have regifted to the lovely lads at the local fire hall :carrot:  :D Madcat-so good to have you with us. I agree with the other ladies, come back and have a coffee and a natter. PW-you were missed. You know we are spinning on this Earth together and don't want anyone falling off. Try and poke your head in now and again just for a peek. I hope you are feeling some relief now that you are healing and not bogged down in the treatment process. I've heard pilates stuff is good for strengthening one's back but I've never done it. Happy-I don't think 20miles are in the cards for awhile ;) Just getting into the double digits of exercise miles is my pride just now :jig: :D Don't speed around too fast now on your busy day, keep your head up, take a cue from Mel:smug: Rose-I have my fingers crossed that your mom will be released tomorrow. I bet she will recover much faster and with more smiles at home. :twirly:  :crossed: |
It's going to be a race against time today I can see that. Still at least the exercise part is done and out of the road.
Went and winkled DB2 out of his little hideaway last night and put the proposition to him - it's a very sad world when you proposition your own brother!!! :D . Anyway he has accepted the offer of my leading him to financial salvation  although I have no great hopes of him carrying out his side of the bargain. He did say one interesting thing about his gambling last night - "It used to be fun" :faint: One wonders whether now that it is no longer fun - it may not be the prop that it was. So tonight we begin the daunting process of finding out the true situation. Anyone got a spare $10,000???? Painter - good to have you back with us. For your notifications - you might try pressing ummmm...... hold it be right back. Suzanne 3FC suggests your computer may be holding onto some old cache files. Her suggestion is to hold down the Ctrl key and press F5 to force your browser to look elsewhere. Also her suggestions are that AOL may be causing some of your problems (if you use AOL) or your e-Mail addy may not be current with 3FC. Maybe check your profile as well? As for the back - yoga and pilates may ease you gently into exercising those lower back muscles. There is one that I do but I'm not sure whether you would be ready for it yet. I'm a great believer these days in the power of gently yoga, tai chi and pilates. You often don't feel like you are doing anything strenuous, until the next day. Madcat, nice of you to join us. I seem to have lost your e-Mail addy and was going to send greetings through PM. May still do that shortly. How you going??? How's the new contract??? I'll try to get back to the rest of the posts later. Meantime, work to do, places to go, people to beat up - uhhhh I mean see. |
Painter, I've PM'd you some exercises. After I sent it I realized I probably should have just emailed them.
My email notification from 3FC has not worked in ages. I do get an email if someone comments in the journals but that's about it. We usually have at least one post a day by somebody (on this thread) so I routinely check the site anyway. Another weekend flown by, again with not everything done. I have not started Christmas shopping yet. I have 2 doctors appointments this week which are going to take up a fair amount of my morning and I have a consultant coming in all week to evaluate a very old system and give me an estimate on some changes and documentation. I went with the higher priced / more experienced consultant as I do not have time to sit and babysit him. He's getting the nickel tour like I got and then go off and get this done by yourself as I have much to get done myself. I have an extra vacation day I was saving for Christmas shopping but it surely doesn't look like I can take any time off this week and next week is Christmas already **frets and shoves hand in mouth *** I don't have alot to buy for and most say that gift certificates will be just fine. I hate to resort to that. And don't ask me about cards... maybe if I leave milk and cookies by the fireplace, do you think the magic elves will do them for me? |

The journey so far.....I see how much my life has changed. I have come into my own and I wouldn’t change it.It is blending the old H with her dynamo spirit, taking the world by storm with a different more peaceful focus of her family and community. Same skill set and heart with a different perspective.
I could not have gotten here without my online journal and the incredible women I got to know. I love you in the true sense of the word. I really miss the gang that was here 2 years ago. Many have moved on. Some I keep in touch with. I hope they know how deeply they have touched my heart and my life and I hope I have touched them as well. I think about my 3 friends who husbands were killed in 2003, the amount of loss and pain and I see the phoenix rising for 2 them. It is beautiful. I feel and see a new confidence and maturity in my son that I thought would never come. He is still wiggy on a good day but I see my work with him succeeding. I have a daughter who is self confident, self loving, knows her heart and mind and is carefree and light hearted.Yahoo. That fulfills the dream I have had for myself and have never gotten to but it frees my spirit to watch it in her. My weight is down 18 lbs from where i started. I have kept it off for 2 years. I always knew the weight was a symptom so as I continue this journey I may yet get to the source. In the meantime life is pretty freakin wonderful!!!! Love to the worldy chicks. |
This made me smile so I thought I would share :)
A little girl was riding on a train with her mother. Looking out the window, she exclaimed, "Look! A horse!" And a moment later, "Look! Houses!" She gave every indication of keeping this up, so her embarrassed mother apologized to the man next to her. "I'm sorry my daughter is going on like this," she said. "She still thinks everything is wonderful." When do we stop thinking everything is wonderful? When we grow up? Does growing older also mean growing jaded? And must we travel to faraway places to marvel once again? Can't we experience wonder and awe today -- this moment? A fresh orange or buttered toast is no less marvelous today than when you first tasted it. The building you work in may be an architectural miracle the ancients never fathomed. The smell of your summer garden or the sight of this evening's sunset can be no less glorious today than it ever was. Few things are commonplace in themselves -- it's our reaction to them that grows dull over the years. As Einstein observed, those who will pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe will truly live. They will see what others miss. They will feel what others cannot. Life will be for them both exquisite and mysterious when they learn to say, "Awe." |
Stop the world, I want to get off!!!!!!
It is now a quarter to eight and I am already grumpy. Yesterday I found they (being the 'IT security' people) had taken away a lot of my access to view results from running background programs in the training database. They have also taken away a lot of access from others as well. I had it last week. Gone this week. Maybe it will be back next week - who knows. Now I whinged a bit yesterday afternoon, and now I am told I have access to do it in the UAT database. Oh lovely!! Thank-you so much, how long did it take for you to do that? Why? Well I don't have an account in the UAT database. Thats' @#$%##$$$###$$$## well why.
Yesterday I had a phone interview with the mob from the desert. It was quite possibly the worst interview I have ever done. So I am not feeling happy about that. Agent rang last night but I was driving home. I rang back but he was now out. Who knows, who cares. Got home to find DB2 on the doorstep with his list of problems and worries. So now I have some other things to sort out as well. Aaaaaah well the list goes on. I spoke to Teel last night. Her computer should be back by end of week. She seems bright enough but says that the sleep patterns have not been good the last couple of days. Holly the dog is fine and in full voice. Meadow, Einstein was truly clever. Love his quote. Nice tale. It made me smile anyway. Holly - good to see you meant it when you said you would drop in from time to time. Linus - OMG going for a walk with the DH. Has the no speak finished then. I put those other photos up today if I remember. Nice friends you have to come and help with the housework. Painter - how goes the gentle exercise? Happy - out you go and do that shopping. Don't leave it all to the last minute. The crowds in town are bad now, next week they will be horrendous. In fact I am considering taking a lunch break at 11.00 to go to the Post Office and post these cards and letters. Yes I finally got most of the far away and overseas ones done last night. Tonight should see an end to all but the local cards. I may even combine morning tea and lunch and go very early since I have yet to have breakfast and brought no lunch with me. Okay - up, up and away to the thirteenth floor to yell at the tallest man in the building. I have to yell, he is in a different stratosphere. |
