Evening ladies! We got back around 4:30 but had to unload, take the rental car back, pick up some dinner then clean the whole mess up from the trip. You know me, can't wait until tomorrow so it is all put away, cat litter all cleaned, animals all fed and taken care of, luggage all unloaded, trash all collected and taken out and Christmas presents all put away. I have two loads of laundry washed and one in the dryer and have 2 more to finish then we will be back to normal! Had a nice time in Indiana, but darn it if it doesn't snow on us every time we go up there. Did the very same thing last Thanksgiving. It was nice to visit with my family and my friends, whom I miss so very much. Keep your fingers crossed as my dil has quit taking the pill and they are working on having a baby, whoopee!
She bought me the most beautiful handbag and told her fil that she is going to buy me one every year and said she thinks next year instead of a bunch of smaller gifts she will get me a coach bag! COOL!!!!!

Amanda: You are doing spectacular, keep up the good work. Glad you had such a fun time with your friends. We went out with some of Jay's and Alicia's friends to a bar in the Marriot hotel on Wed night and that was fun. Particularly since one of the guys picked up the bar bill! We then had dinner at a fun hot wings type restaurant and that was a blast too.

Susan: I thought of you often while in Indiana wondering how your hubby was doing. We are praying for you and I will send him out on a prayer chain.

Log Cabin: Please come and join us as these are great gals, lovely range of ages, marital status and what not. We would love to have you post with us and join in on our topics and our points system (see instructions with first post of the thread)

Julie and Lee Ann: Hope you guys had fun together. Had lots of good food and friendship time.

Carri: Hope you are enjoying your time off!

I am pretty pooped as I didn't sleep well the whole time. We were in a double bed with our dog, Jack is 6'2" and I am wide so what a time we had in the bed trying to sleep. The mattress was comfy though!

I will talk to you all in the morning!

MONDAY: Today is Mission Monday and our mission this week is strength training. You need it at least twice a week to jump up that metabolism and to help with muscle strength and tightening. Let's put some strength training into our routines starting this week.

Good morning girls! I slept pretty well last night as I had more bed! They do have 3 cats and I have a cat allergy so am kind of doing the human hairball thing this morning and trying just to get back to a routine.

It is raining like crazy here so it is a good day to knit, knit knit, but I have to get the laundry done and my regular chores and cleaning for the day done too, so better be off to that! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Log Cabin: Just a little about me, I administer the thread, am 52, have been married 33 years, have two grown married kids and a grandson. I don't work, but enjoy puttering around my condo and knitting and reading. Have a little yorkie named Fortune and a tiger tabby named Butterscotch.

Afternoon All ... first off Susan, I am and praying for you and your husband,
please know that we are all thinking of you and I know things will get better.

Faye - Glad you had fun in good ol Indiana ... I really liked waking up to the snow that morning ... made it feel all festive, ha ha

Julie - As I was telling Faye above, we got a little snow but it did not stick around...they say some more nasty cold weather is coming though ... I am like you - I like snow, so I don't mind ...

Amanda - Congrats on the losses, it does seem like your plateau is quite over, you are doing such a good job!!!

Log Cabin - Welcome !!!

I had a great ( and filling ) Thanksgiving...I just hope I can get back on plan for a while, at least until Christmas Eve, then I pig out again
Today is going to be hard but if I can get through it I will go work out and then I should be able to stay OP ... all of that Thanksgiving food was so gooooooooooooo though !!!! I know I shouldn't say this but it almost seems like going back OP for three weeks before Christmas is pointless, BUT I know that I could probably gain 10 pounds or so between that time so I should try to stay on ...oh well .... give me strength Girls!!!!

Well hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and lets get moving this week!!

Hi, ladies. Just a quick update on my dh. He will be having surgery later this week for an ulcerated intestine caused by the bacterial infection he has been battling since July. Hopefully we'll be able to finally get him on the mend. They are going to move him to a hospital at the University of Virginia Medical School for the surgery - no one here fully equipped to deal with everything (kidneys, heart and this).

I'm hanging in there.

Keep the prayers coming, please.

Hello girls,

Well I was suffering from a bit of a hangover yesterday so there was no way I was going to the gym - I still didn't feel quite right today, so gave myself another day off! (I don't normally drink, so it hit me hard! ). I am raring to get back though and feel that I am last getting back to full fitness after my illness at the beginning of the month - it's mad that it takes so long to get back up to full health! I am hoping that my plateau is over, but I'll be happier if I can lose a few more pounds to make absolutely sure!

SUSAN - Thanks for the update - I have been thinking and praying for you often, and will continue to do so.

FAYE - Glad you enjoyed visiting your family and friends. Lets hope you will get that much wanted grandchild sooner rather than later!

CARRI - Glad you had a great Thanksgiving - I am sure it won't take you too long to get back into the swing of dieting again (before Christmas comes to get you off track again!)

Hi to Julie & Lee Ann - Hope you enjoyed meeting up!

Love Amanda x

TUESDAY: Today is Target Tuesday and our target this week is Control. Do we honestly have control over food or does it control us? Do we think we have a handle on it or in truth do we struggle too much? We need to look at how food affects us this week and work on why it controls our lives. If we are stress eaters, boredom eaters, etc, we need to start working on helping ourselves to replace stress with exercise, stretching, relaxation techniques. If we are bored, taking up a hobby that involves your hands like painting, knitting, pottery, etc. We have to conquer control issues to be able to have ultimate long term success.

Morning girls! I am again up very early with allergies and what not. It is very mild here this week and stirring up what is left of pollen and such so I am back to sneezing, etc. I will just nap a little later this morning if I am tired.

Sounds like everyone had a fine time over the weekend.

Susan: Every one of us will promise to continue to pray for you and your husband. When you are down and sitting just waiting, just remember, we are ALL sitting there invisible holding your hands.

My sister and bil are a mess. My sister looks horrible, is having a myriad of health problems now, some of which she is causing herself and my bil looks so frail. He was so thrilled to get to come to Thanksgiving for a few hours, but he was ready to go back when they came to get him. His MS is to the point now where he cannot sit up right in a scooter style wheelchair and has to use one of the large high backed electric ones. Boy, I can tell you honestly, I will NEVER get gastric bypass. My bil's sister had it about 18 months ago and had a lot of problems with it to begin with, but she now looks like a skeleton. Not thin and healthy, but thin and ill. Her face looks like just skin against bone, no fullness whatsoever and she STOOD UP to eat and all she did was pick at her food. She says she can't sit down to eat or it makes her ill. I know some people are thrilled with the results but I am not taking that chance ever! Her dd had the lap band and now is fatter than before I guess. She didn't come to dinner.

Well gals, I need to go and fix the toilet upstairs. It is running for some reason.

Hi everyone,
4 points for me yesterday I weighed myself this morning, which was dumb cuz it's TOM, but I only gained about 1.5 pounds over the holiday...so I'm happy. Dunno if I'm going to reach that New Year's goal or not, but at least I'm getting loads of exercise. Taking the day off today to write. I have two deadlines on Thursday, and I really need to get cracking.

Faye, that weight loss surgery stuff is SCARY! I just can't imagine it.

Well, hope everyone has a great day...I'm off to write about sports bras.

Hello,

I got 2 points yesterday. My scale is still showing my loss so I am pleased that it wasn't just a fluke that I'd lost a few pounds! I am looking forward to the scales continuing to move downwards now. I've been to the gym today and had a good workout which has got the last of my hangover out of my system!

It's not long till Christmas now is it? Nigel and I have agreed that we are not going to go overboard with food this year. Normally we go absolutely mad and just pig out from the week before Christmas until the first week of Jan! I've worked so hard this year to lose 50+ lb, and I've struggled through this plateau, I don't want to set myself way back. We are going to have some permitted treats (a nice roast dinner, cheese and crackers, a pudding), but I am not going mad buying tubes and tubes of Pringles, tonnes of chocolate and cakes. Last year it was buy one get one free on Pringles and I got through about 8 tubes! I feel quite happy about this and don't feel like I'll be missing out on anything - wow, that is a real change in me!

What are everyone elses plans for Christmas?

WEDNESDAY: Today is Wednesday's woe and we can gripe about whatever we want. Our diet woe this week is why over everyone in this world are fat people still discriminated against most?

POINTS:

Julie
Amanda and a big extra for going the extra mile to keep Christmas foods in check

It is really cold this morning and I am freezing down here in the kitchen. I am up early again and want to stop this bologna!

Did you all see biggest loser last night? Amazing what you can do eating healthy and exercising isn't it? Some of them looked truly fantastic. I noticed the one young woman had only lost 16 lbs and got up there with a pretty sour look on her face and one guy didn't show up at all and may have gained back. Getting control of eating is no easy thing, that is for sure.

We are again going down to the casinos for Christmas. We are staying Friday through Sunday nights and my dd and sil and dgs are coming down on Sat to go swimming play games in the room and such and got to a buffet down there then have Christmas with us, then we have Christmas day to ourselves to relax. I am almost done with Christmas buying. Finally bought my sil's leather gloves on Monday and oooppppssss, they were having a clearance and a buy one get one 50% off sale and my cyber shopping cart accidently had a $60 leather handbag drop in it! It was terrible, couldn't get it out and had to buy it. Low and behold, I got it for $10!!!!! Have to hide this one for awhile since I just got one for Christmas from my dil.

We went out to get a bite to eat last night then to Old Time pottery factory to look at dishes. Found the perfect ones in a big 55 piece set in yellow and blue to go with both my dining room and my kitchen, then Jack found beautiful blue stemware and we bought two sets of it. We came home and cleaned out cupboards for the Goodwill and made Jack promise all the bags of stuff is finally going to go this weekend so I can get the garage cleaned up.

Well, gals, gotta go for now. Have a great day everyone.

Susan: We are still with you in prayer!

Julie: Now what is all the things you know about sports bras you didn't before the article?

Hi everyone! Boy what an intersting trip. We 4 plague rats had a lot of work this weekend. I'm not sure, but I think we may have given our colds to Julie's family.. but they gave us theirs, so we brought that up to Canada to our other friends' house and traded that one for a third-theirs. So we just had to share and share alike, and I think we brought That One back to Julie's house again... How's everyone doing, Jules?

So.. we left having thought that we beat the heck out of our cold/flu, then the kids came down with another, but finally beat that one, but by the time we got home, we all had a third (the yuckiest of them all) and now we're trying to get over that one.

Gotta love the season.

About missing Thanksgiving- boy did That backfire! Dave felt bad becasue I was a bit low about missing it completely, so during the ride, we had a mini-Thanksgiving at Denny's (YUCK!). Then when we got to Canada, his parents gave us another one, but our friends also felt bad for us and gave us Another one! So instead of missing all the crud, we got it three times! I'm just glad that Julie didn't insist on it, too! ha ha. So I ended up gaining a ton of weight (like 5 or 6 pounds.. I'm afraid to step on the scale).

But I did manage to get some jogging in over the weekend on Michelle's treadmill.

Susan- My heart is with you right now. I think about your husband a lot. I know it doesn't help much, but it's all I got.

Afternoon Everyone ....

Faye - Yes I have been following The Biggest Loser all season and was so excited to watch the 2 hr finale last night ... I could not believe how great they all looked, well except the one you mentioned with the sour look on her, I think she was like that because she was embarrassed that she had not lost any weight since leaving the ranch and everyone else had done so well...Suzy didn't even look like her old self, and neither did the men ...ya know it really did push me into getting into my program again, they lost all this weight in a matter of 9 months or so ... so why do we have such problems losing 5 pounds in a couple of months??

Amanda - I am with you, I have already decided that I was going to eat what I want on Christmas Eve and day and then right back on ... last year I put on like 20 pounds between Thanksgiving and middle of January, I cannot afford to do that again!! You are doing a great job!!!

Julie - That is great that you only gained 1.5 pounds over Thanksgiving....I think I gained like 4

Lee Ann - There alot of colds going around here too, I am sure hoping that I do not get one as I have no more sick time here at work until 1/1/05!!!

Susan - How is DH? Hope all is getting better ...

Well I have my gyno appt tomorrow for my TOM problems....I didnt have one in July, did have one in August, and then have not had one since ...so now I am 3 months in a row w/o one... I am worried but I know I need to get it checked out, so wish me luck ....That is my Weds woe ...

Talk to you all later!!

Hi ladies,

I am happy to report 4 points for yesterday. Nothing else happening here - I've got a bad headache so I am going for a lie down.

CARRI - Hope your gyn appointment goes okay - 3 months without TOM (and def. no pregnancy) is worrying.

JULIE - Thanks for the kind words - any chance of you getting to 199 by Christmas? I don't think I'll make it, but I'll def. get there by the end of Jan!

FAYE - Another handbag!... You naughty lady you!

LEE-ANN - 3 Thanksgivings - that really made me laugh! Hope the weight gain isn't as bad as you fear!

SUSAN - You are in my thoughts and prayers.

THURSDAY: Today is Time for Us Thursday and I want you to take a little time for you today. I also want you to be thinking about January 1, 2006. All our holiday celebrations over, we need to commit that day to starting some good old fashion hard work! Let's get on the ball girls and start planning our program to really make 2006 the year we succeed and get some of our ladies out of weight loss and into maintenance!

POINTS:

Amanda

Carri: I think they all looked spectacular, but I think the absolute best was Dr Jeff and Pete. They were the biggest and the ones that really had to suffer for awhile because of their size. They were kind to everyone, never sniped at any one person and didn't get snotty when they were sent packing. A couple of the girls look great but I thought were always so snotty and snooty about everything. Maybe that is why two years in a row, there has been 2 men and one woman at the final three. I noticed a couple of guys from last year's show (the winner was one of them) in the audience cheering them on, which I thought was nice.

LeeAnn: Glad you had a nice time even with colds and too much turkey!

I have a lot to do today girls so I need to go. Let's keep in mind what I said today about next year. It is only a month away!

Hey! 4 points yesterday, and I'm back down to my pre-Thanksgiving weight....Yay!

Don't know if I can manage to lose 9 pounds this month, but I'm gonna try. My girls are old enough to do all the holiday "goodie baking" for our relatives by themselves. So, I think I'm gonna just let them do it and I'll go hide in the sewing room until they're done. (that's the plan, anyway....we'll see if I actually do it)

gotta get going...everyone have a great day!
