Hello everyone...

Been missing in action and sorry b/c i have been busy with daycare and trying to arrange a visit to my parents for the holidays. Last week was the week from screaming babies..never so glad for a wk/end to come.

Exciting news two fold sort of: One we bought a new couch with recliners on each end and this is exciting b/c we haven't had a new couch of any kind for over 10yrs. and hubby(10W40) said let's go get us a new one and i didn't hesitate one bit and going and picking out WHAT i WANTED. Yeahhhhh me.
The other is Hubby & I are going to Florida for Xmas. Hubby never goes on vacation with me in all the 22yrs we have been married but one other time. Poor Cara will have to stay home this time b/c she is working full time now. Still going to see if she can't sneak in my suitcase....

Well that is it....Oh wait a minute WELCOME SUZI....you have come to a wonderful group of friends.

Vicki

Gayle-I'll need to get more graduation party tips from you when the time gets closer.

Mike has always injected his turkeys with orange juice. He used a regular syringe. They are the best tasting smoked turkeys you can imagine. The white meat, when cut, has juices flowing from it. In fact, we have always thought about selling them because they are so good and everyone raves about them. He uses fresh orange juice and lets it sit a day or 2, so all the pulp goes to the bottom and he just gets the juice in the syringe. Then he injects it all over the turkey. I'm not sure if he injects it anymore during the smoking process or not, but I do know he spends the day basting, and rekindling the smoker.

Vicki-Coming to my side of the country! How exciting! I hope the weather gets cooler for the holidays. How long will you be in Tampa?

I did it...I weighed in this morning at 148.4! What an incentive to stay on track this week...Thanksgiving or not!

Vicki, we bought a sofa like that a couple of years ago...I love it! Enjoy your new furniture!

Gayle, congratulations on your new found addition! I kind of figured that she wouldn't be at the SPCA long.

Shelley, if you want it cooler down there you can send the extra heat north...we're freezing up here!

HELLOOOOOOOOOO.......can the prodigal daughter come home????

I finally was able to log back in and it looks like I haven't posted for over two months! Wow, I had no idea it had been that long!!!

I've kept up a little bit with everyone by reading the posts and I've tried to email Gayle a few times to let her know that I'm alive and kicking. I'm not even going to try to address everyone tonight, but I'd like to start fresh if it's okay with you all....PLEASE??!!

I do want to welcome the newbies and I hope I get to know you very soon. You will love this board...this is the most wonderful group of women I have ever had the honor of knowing.

Rick and I will be going to Oklahoma next week to spend Thanksgiving with Ben. It is the first time in five years he has been stationed close enough to be able to spend the holidays with. I hope that Dan will go with us also. He is still in the National Guard, but he is joining the regular Army in a few weeks. He will be stationed at Ft. Sill, just 30 minutes from Altus Air Force Base, where Ben is stationed. We will also be bringing a new child home with us. We are adopting Ben's Military Working Dog. It is being retired and if they are not adopted, they are euthanized. So of course we are taking it! She is a German Shepherd named Asta and she is nine years old.

As Gayle may have told you, I've been undergoing some medical tests and I still have several to go. I will be seeing a neurologist on December 19th to have a Nerve Conductivity Test and an MRI. I just had a new series of bloodwork done and don't have all the results back. My SED rate, which measures inflamation in the body, was 20 points higher than normal. My doctor at this point is leaning toward Multiple Sclerosis or Lupus. We'll just have to wait and see. I'll let you know as soon as I know something.

Well, that's really more than I meant to write tonight. I've got a busy day tomorrow as we busted a huge burglary ring this past Thursday and there is still much follow up work to do. The really bad part is that one of the perps is a jailer. Well, now instead of dressing other people in orange, he is wearing it! He is only twenty years old and has ruined his life... such a sad thing for his family to go through.

Okay, it's medication time and then off to bed. I'll talk to you all soon. Thanks for always being there for me. I love you all!

Ramona-Sweetheart, I'm so glad you're back!! I am send prayers your way and hope your test come back with good results. I had no idea that you were still in such pain. I am so glad that you get to spend Thanksgiving with your baby. I hope Dan can get there too. It would be wonderful for you all to get together at the same time.

Love to everyone--running late, gotta go! (Suzy--thanks, I got it!)

Good morning and happy Monday everyone!
It's going to be a busy week for me! I'm babysitting the grandkids 3 days this week, plus cooking Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday! I have no idea when I'm going to find time to clean. I suppose I could always dim the lights and have a candlelit dinner...that way no one will be able to see the dust! AND to make the week really interesting...we are supposed to get a couple back to back snow storms starting tonight lasting through the week. Oh my...I have to find time to grocery shop too! I hope everyone has a great week!

Nice to meet you Ramona! I'm sorry to hear about your health problems, but hopefully the testing will provide some answers which will lead to a treatment plan! It's wonderful that you're going to be able to spend the holiday with your son (I'm jealous ). Congratulations on the new addition to your family as well! Have a safe trip and enjoy your visit!

Welcome back Romona!! We missed you! Sounds like you are having a rough time. It must be hard to work when you feel so crummy.
Congratulations on tlhe new addition to your family.
Amanda (my daughter) is always rescueing animals. There is a wild momma cat where she works that we have tried to catch for years. She is too smart to go in the cage. We keep catching her kittens. A couple of weeks ago Amanda caught two of them. Staff from the nursing home took those two. Friday she caught another one. She begged the lady at the pet store in town to take her and try to place her. She was so wild that it is hard to find someone to adopt her. She needs to go to a family that will work with her and probably not to a home with kids. We went in to see her Saturday morning. She was in with a bunch of other kittens which is doing her good. She will learn from them to socialize and not be afraid of people. If she doesn't get adopted Amanda has to take her back. She has two big dogs and three cats already. She takes after me I guess. How can you look at those little faces when God puts them in your path and turn your back? Just not possible for us.
I went to the surgeon this morning and he took out two of my stitches, he will remove the rest in a week. My hands are feeling good, just a bit stiff in the morning when I wake up.
I'm still on program and feeling good!

Suzy congratulations for hitting 148 pounds. It is great when you move down from 150's to 140's. Keep it up and remember thanksgiving is only one meal it doesn't have to be a whole weekend of eatting.

Janice I am so happy for you that you are doing fine after your surgery. I am sure being almost pain free is a relief.

Ramona it is so good to hear from you. I think of you often. I am you are excited about seeing Ben for thanksgiving. I will be saying prayers for you to recover from any illness that you are fighting. Congratulation on your new addition. That is so wonderful that you are doing that. We sure are a bunch of animal lovers here.

Sherry gee I miss you , when are you going to get your puter back. I hope things are well with you. Did you go for your tests? Any news yet

Shelley Mike's turkey sounds so yummy. Ask him if he would mind having an out of town guest. I would love to come. I can even bring the dessert.

Vicki I love those reclining couches. We have been looking at them for awhile. I thought that with my bad back that would be good for it. When we watch movies I have to lye down. Enjoy it. Wow so you and hubby are going to Florida for Christmas. What days are you going to be gone? Are you actually going to be gone on Christmas day? This must be the first Christmas that you won't be spending with Cara. I am sure that it is bitter sweet going away. I remember how sad our Christmas was last year. I was in the hospital for almost the month but they did let me out christmas eve til boxing day. I could see the sad look in all my families eyes wondering if I would ever be able to walk again. Thank goodness that is all in the past. Enjoy your trip.

Gayle how are you enjoying work? You are an old pro already. I am sure handling the money is second nature for you. How's the new family memeber?

Tomorrow I go to see the specialist for my MRI results. Hopefully it will be a go for the corizone injections. They just have to find a dye that I am not alergic to.
Do you guys remember when I asked you last week if you would give up something that you really loved? Well I will share my story. I went to my family doctor last week to ask him a safe heart rate for me when I work out. He said no higher than 150 or 160 tops. When I am working out at the gym they have monitors and my heart rate has been reading over 200. He couldn't believe that it was that high again. I have chest pains but I don't complain to often about them unless they are really bad. My arteries are clear. The doc took an EKG last week and I am on a waiting list (story of my life) for a heart monitor. For now he wants me to stop all exercise. I just can't do it. Shelley I know that you will understand why I can't stop everything. I didn't promise him I would stop and I think he knows me better than to expect it. I love exercising so much, that it is a big part of my daily enjoyment. I know that sounds sick but it is the same thing as you loving chocolate. I am much calmer now that the reality sunk in again. He was concerned that the machines were not accurate and I could be going 230 instead of 205. Some peoples hearts can substain that for sort while while others peoples heart won't take so much. Pretty scarey but I have been hear before. When it is documented on the monitor then my choice will be beta blockers (which I have taken and made me really sick) or possibly another heart operation. Always something..... Well that is my news. And how was your day?

DEE, I SAY TO CONTINUE WHAT YOU ENJOY, BUT MAYBE TRY TO CUT BACK A BIT? I DON'T KNOW WHAT I WOULD DO TO LOSE YOU AS A FRIEND...ENOUGH SAID....
Sophie had surgery today and will come back to her home tomorrow after school. YES, it looks like we all love animals on this board. She has a Doggie house and kennel setup outside, although Allison is already hinting about indoors when the snow flies. LOL!

Ramona, know you can post anything here, we are all friends and we all care about each other. Prayers will continue until you know how all the test results turned out. Bravo for adopting BENS DOG!!! I'm sure he holds a special attachment towards Asta and will love seeing her when he can. Shepards are such beautiful animals. I have a part Shepard, part Rott, three years old but still thinks she is only a young pup.

Janice, so happy to hear the surgery went well!!! YEAHHH!!!!!!!! Sounds like your daughter has a soft heart too...

Suzy, congrats on the weight loss!!!! YIPPEEEEEE!!!! YOU ARE DOING FANTASTIC!

Shelley, we are going to try the orange juice. Using hickory chips and stuffing the cavity full of apple & onion for flavor. I may add a touch of liquid smoke to the juice. Thanks for the suggestion!!!

Gayle-Mike uses hickory chips and when if he stuffs, he does black rice. It's wonderful!

Dee-Yes, I completely understand. I think you should slow down, maybe go back to just walking at a leisurely pace. We don't want to lose you! Take it extremely easy until you get the go ahead. Oh, BTW, come on down!! We would love to have you! (Of course I would need Sherry here to help me clean first!!)

Janice-Wonderful that your hands are well on the road to recovery!

Dee- YOU HAVE TO SLOW DOWN!! Hopefully its just for a little while until you find out what's up, but I don't think you have a choice. We love you! I know you don't want to stop totally which I understand, but please take it easier.
Ramona - I am praying for you, the waiting to find out is so hard.
Doni- are you lurking?
Sherry - Hope your computer is fixed soon, any word?
My weight has been the same for about four days now, it gets frustrating.
Dee- I LOVE CHOCOLATE - switched to sugar free though for the sake of my health!
Change things around a little so it works for you.

Dee, you really need to follow your doctor's advice! Look at our replies to the question you asked last week...we all pretty much said that we would be willing to give up just about anything but family. You need to take take care of yourself so that you are here for your family! Sure exercise is important, but please just slow down and keep your heart rate at a safe level until the doctor can get to the bottom of the problem.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my new friends here! I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday...see you all on Friday!
