Okay...I'm on the hush hush. I'm supposed to be making dinner right now. ;)
Anyhow, thanks for the warm welcome. I'll tell ya a bit about me. My name is Chris. I'm a mom of 3 girls. Tiana is 12, Kayla is 6 and Nicole is 3. My little brood of women. :D I live in Montana (all my life). I've been married to my husband for 6 1/2 yrs now. Yah, I know. The math doesn't add up. I was pregnant with baby #2 when we got married. I work part time for my dad (he has a candy warehouse) and I am also a full-time student. Trying to get my degree in Accounting. I love to sew, read and play on the computer. I have rheumatoid arthritis and allergies. I have done Weight Watchers, South Beach and am currently working with a weight loss clinic now. I'm a binge eater, and a carb addict. Naughty huh? I'm not much into exercise. I try but I don't get as much in as I should. Sometimes the RA slows me down but not much. I have started, just recently, to do pilates with my sister 3 days a week. That is one heckuva a workout. Well I better go and get something on the table. I'll check back later. THe kids are in the middle of a mini meltdown. I guess I better go mediate. ~chris |

What other exercise have you done? For me, I always thought I had to be dying at the end of it for it to do any good. At over 200 pounds, running on the treadmill was tough to say the least, not to mention bad for the knees. But then I realized (probably from suggestions here at 3fc) that walking is just as good for losing weight. And lo and behold, the pounds started coming off! I thought something so easy couldn't work, but it does. I've found different ways of walking, like putting the treadmill in front of the tv, or taking my son for a long walk in his stroller. Even just adding 10 minutes here and there can add up. I'm sure you'll get lots of other good suggestions from the others, and you'll find something you actually enjoy. Cindy |
Christina :welcome: and Congrats on your weight loss so far!! This is a great group of ladies. i am fairly new to the group myself, and the support is awesome. I probably wouldnt have lasted as long as I have on my "lifestyle change" if I didnt have these ladies to talk to every day :)
Cindy: I noticed that almost everyone is about the same weight...I also noticed that Several of us also started out w/in a few pounds of each other, lol. Wierd:dizzy: I am so happy for you about selling your house, that is great news. I bet you cant wait to get settled into your new home:carrot: Cara: Most of the snow missed us, LOL. We only ended up w/ about 2inches here, I am SO disappointed, I was really looking forward to building a snowman w/ the kids. Oh well, Maybe we'll get it next time. I have eaten so badly today....or rather most of the weekend :o I have felt like a bottomless pit, lol. Must be stress, I have been So worried about Christian (he's started getting into trouble at his new school), Worried about Christmas, worried about getting more heating oil, Plus the kids were sick....Calgon take me away, LOL...OOOHHH that sounds good. I think I'll get off here and take a nice long bubble bath and forget all the unpleasant stuff for now. Hope you all have a nice evening :) |
First of all.. this thread is really a long one. Has anyone ever switched it to a new thread?
Second. Thanks for your welcomes. Cindy, my sister has this Method ALL in one Pilate workout and it takes about 1 1/2 hour to do. We usually do 1 hour of it because the last 1/2 hour is with this bar and its a bit too rough on us. ;) My arthritis doctor says one of the best exercises is walking. Right now its so cold and snowy (YES WE GOT THE SNOW!!!) that I don't really care to venture out of the house. Have you ever got any of the WALK AWAY THE POUNDS tapes. Those are great to do. I get a really good workout with thouse. I thought is was strange to that we are all running about the same weight. What would make it even weirder is if we were all around the same height. :) I suppose, I've put it off long enough. I have to finish getting ready for my doctor appt. today and get the kids ready for school. It's too darn cold to have them walk. Check back after my appt. and after I get some of my schoolwork done. I have some finals to get prepared for and some final projects I have to have turned in by friday. Then 1 whole month off. Halleluah.... ~chris |
I don't want to overstep my boundaries, but I would be happy to change the thread since this one is getting longer. That is if you want me to. If not, that's fine. YOu alll seem like a great group of gals to get to know. God knows, I need support to get where I need to go....:)

Chris: I haven't tried the Walking Away The Pounds, but I've heard they're good. I may look into them one day. Walking really seems to make my butt smaller, and that's very cool! Wow, your 1-1/2 hour Pilates sounds great, but I don't think I could hang for that long. Pilates is tough! That's good, though, that you have your sister as support. An exercise partner can be a big help.
Hey Alisha! Woo-hoo about getting ridding of those nasty 3 pounds! Now keep them away for good, okay? The next 3 pounds you lose need to be 3 NEW pounds! Chris and Alisha both have expressed interest in starting a new thread. No one else has seemed to object when Alisha inquired about it a couple weeks ago. So I vote we start a new one. Any last-minute objections? If not, Alisha, would you do the honors? Have a good day, ladies! |

Alisha, The Hacker's Diet is written by a multi millionaire software designer that decided that being fat was a problem he needed to solve, kinda like a software bug. Once he found his solution, he then created a solution to "hack" his body into weight loss. lol It's a great read. He made it free since he doesn't need the money. So the book is online and it's the top link when you google it.
The basis is to eat less calories then you burn and to exercise. The stuff he talks about really makes sense, to me it does anyways. lol I love calculating my weight loss trend. It pacifies the scale addict in me to weigh every day (the circles, seen as weights or floats attached to the trend line). It helps me not to get too discouraged by small gains, because you can visually see the downward trend. http://www.modemaiden.com/November.jpg http://www.modemaiden.com/December.jpg I know the calorie deficit seems huge for December, but that was the the big water weight drop I had, it will be much smaller by the end of the month, probably more like 500-600 a day. |
Good Afternoon!
Good Afternoon ladies! Just checking back in real quick before i go excercise....I am OFFICIALLY starting the couch to 5k today!! Wish me luck!! My height is 5'3" i know i am a shortie!! ;)
Julie: WOW! You are doing really good! I looked into the Hackers diet....i think for right now, until i loose a decent amount of weight i am going to stick to the atkins i have also had success with it. Cynthia: I will set up a new one right now! Well i hope everyone is having a great day! Take care Alisha |
ya know, I never told ya all what kind of eating plan I was on. My doctor has me doing a protein diet to get my insulin levels...ummm, level. I have some serious carb issues. I am on a 1400 calorie diet and I'm supposed to take in 70-90 g. of protein a day. And keep my carbs down. I can still eat fruit and veggies, but it is similar to south beach and atkins. It hasn't been too bad but I know I'm going to ge yelled a this week for my dr. appt. I haven't been doing very good. I've been snacking and not exercising and not journaling my food intake. Bad Bad me. I better get off the soap box and finish up with my pity parties and get on with this weightloss journey. It's been almost 2 yrs since I started this.
Okay. Better go and check on the kiddies. I've been at my wits end with them today. Nicole the littlest is so on my nerves today. I tried to explain to my husband what is going on. She's throwing these massive tantrums, screaming out orders, and being a little tyrant. I try to get her snowboots on and she kicks at me. I try to put her coat on and she screams and starts smacking my arms. I know, she's 3 and that's what they do, but this is ssoo beyond what the other two have been like. I keep trying to tell her that tantrums aren't allowed and I make her sit in time outs and stuff but nothing is making a dent in her little world. Its so frustrating for me. I can't be consistent if I get soo overwhelmed that I can't deal with it. My husband says "i understand" or "she can be a handful". That just irks me too. I don't know what to do anymore. My oldest is in those pre-teen defiant years. She backtalks, complains about having to help out around the house and always does the guilt trip (my dad wouldn't make me do that) etc. Kayla is the middle child who cries at the drop of a hat instead of explaining what is bugging her. I think I have all the extreme behaviors you could possibly NOT want in your children. So if anyone has any ideas on what to do with these little people in my life..PLEASE let me know!!! ~chris |
