What a crazy week you guys!! I have family here that is from the Port Arthur, TX area. Not sure how long they'll stay but I don't mind because they're safe and sound.
Also, I was sick. Bill was REALLY sick the week before last, then Kalynn started to run a fever. Then I started to get sick, but not as bad fortunately. I didn't run at all this week. But get this, I lost 4 lbs! I'll probably gain it back since I'm feeling better, but I hope not. Today, I plan on going for a run, but not sure if I should do my entire route? Debbie, I hope you weren't in the path of the hurricane! |

Hey where is everyone?
Celeste: Sorry to hear that you were sick. I am just getting over the flu myself. And I lost 3 lbs. I hope that you can keep it off. I am finding that I have to get back to my workouts at a slower pace in which I thought. It was so very hard to workout this morning for the first time lifting the weights. I only did 30mins. Hey guys, just checking in. I dunno what my problem is. I guess I'm not doing that great, so I just don't come here. Which is the OPPOSITE of what I should be doing! I'm not doing bad. Well, food-wise, at least. I've kinda stayed at the same weight. But I have not been working out like I should be. I dunno what my problem is? In an hour, my boyfriend and I are going to dinner and a movie. That's the ONLY THING we are doing today. I had PLENTY of time to hit the gym, but did I? Nope. I have NO idea why my problem is, or why I'm just not motivated. This really sucks.
Sorry to be such a downer guys. I really, really hope everyone else is doing well, and doing a lot better than me! |

Don't fret my dear, you will lose weight when you are ready to and want it bad enough....and that's the great thing about it is that it's never too late. You can always start fresh with diet and exercise and I thank God for that! It's taken me a lot of trying and failing in this area of my life to finally get so tired of it that I've committed myself to succeeding. When you are ready, you will do it! Mel |

Mel: You always have such wonderful words of wisdom, in the post response for Nicki. How are you doing with your weights? I am finally back up to par with my weight training. Hard to believe what a cold can do to your energy level. Anyway, hope that you have a good workout day!
Nicki: I can understand where you are coming from. It will be a real hard for me around the holidays and such. I get tired of eating the same stuff over and over again. Some how I gained 2 pounds. Where did that come from. Opps! But, hope to get back on track today. I am making a new short term goal for myself. Hum....need to think about that one. Miss hearing from the others.........How is it going? |
Mel, I was very happy to read that today. I've been stumbling eating wise. But today is a new day and I'm going to be better.
It's been hard because there are 2 pre teen boys and they eat a lot of junk food, and it's really hard for me not to eat any too. My family still isn't sure how their house is from the hurricane. Their area was hit really hard from Hurricane Rita. Today I am going to eat better and get my run in. Since I've been sick, I haven't been up to par, but hopefully I'll get back there. |
Melanie, my mom is fine. There was no damage to the house or anything, thank goodness!
Celeste, I'm sorry to hear that the area was hit hard by the hurricane, I hope everything is alright. I haven't been exercising lately, but I've been watching what I eat and I'm ALMOST to 199, I've been sitting at 200 for the past couple days. I hope you all are doing well, I'm SWAMPED with school, so I'll post more often when things settle down. |

Well, it is about 4:30 a.m. my son is teething tonight, and he can not seem to go to sleep. So, I am up, trying not to eat because of his stressful crying. I am kinda feeling down too, I gained two pounds, and I am having trouble getting back on track. I need to go to the store and get some healthy foods. Gotta go.... Karen |
Guys, I really really need some encouragement..
They give hurricane evacuees JUNK food!! My SIL and BIL have been coming home with boxes and boxes of food. But it's not very healthy at all. White rice, white bread, candy bars, chips, cookies and snack cakes.It's been a disaster for my healthy eating. My eating habits just seem to have gone out the window. I've already gained 2 lbs back. I usually don't have ANY junk food in the house. Any suggestions?? Thoughts? However, I have been running. Today I will probably work out on the elliptical along with my running. Karen, poor baby!! Teething sucks!! |
OH it's been hard on Kalynn too. She RARELY gets cookies, and chips. But she sees the boys eating it, or she sees it on the counter (I don't have any room in the pantry), she has a fit because she wants some.

Is it too late to join this group? I am new here and am in that exact range of what I need to lose-- at least 50-- could lose 60
I dont know why I am having such a hard time getting started-- I keep switching what diet plan I should follow-- one day I think South Beach-- then I think-- no just count calories -- I need to pick something and stick with it because that is the key-- I dont think it is so much as what you do-- as it is to stick with it-- I also recently bought a bowflex that I am making monthly payments on but need to use more more often. I turn 40 in January and would like to have a lot of that weight off by then-- BJ |

I think you should just start counting calories, because that leaves it open that you can choose any fods at all eat it but just in moderation. basically to not deny yourself anything. if you think south beach may be better for you then do that...definitely start the exercise. good luckk!! I'm super hungry right now and the vending machine is just a few steps away and i have the money for it but im just like ok im on a mission to lose weight, you dont need to eat like crazy now. so i just bought a diet coke. its working, im not hungry anymore. yay! awesome cause i was under 200 when i got on the scale this mornign..so hopefully that means im down more tomorrow, on my new weigh in day. anyways, take care everyone!!!!! |

IMO, you need to choose a plan that you'll be able to stick with for the REST of your life. It needs to be a lifestyle change, not just a "diet". I don't like plans that severely limit or entirely cut out one or more foods. For me, what has happened is that I'll want that certain food, and binge on it and then I'll gain the weight back. |
