I think one of Spillie's recipes would be very comforting. Most crockpot food I make is...that's one of the reasons I love it so much! I'm hoping to make something on Sunday, since I won't be home for dinner tonight or tomorrow night.

BTW, SPILLIE, thanks for the link. Those are all core recipes (obviously), so I'll have to input them into MasterCook to determine points, first. I think there's a daily crockpot thread on the recipe review board too. I've gotten a lot of recipes from there, as well. MMMMMmmmmmmmmm crockpot cooking!!

Unfortunately, I'm here...

Yesterday after I was done working I layed down on the sofa because my back was KILLING me. I fell asleep only to be woken up by someone that I work with calling me at 5:15pm to ask if today was jeans day at work. Are you kidding me?? I made some dinner (2 oz of whole wheat pasta + a garlic shrimp & veggies mixed in -- all for 6 pts!) and dessert (Peach crisp) and then retired for the evening.

I have Friday and Saturday's menus finalized - I just have to put together my grocery list for grocery shopping after work!

Spillie: Hope your PMS goes away - poor K!!!

Twiddle: Have fun at the game and tomorrow! Is S getting sloppy drunk tonight???

Rocker: Hope you feel better!!! We want you 100% better so we can go for a Mexi-salad...:p

Hi Dutchie - hope they are taking it easy on you over there! Still like JC??

Okay, off to do some work...

SPILLIE 03-03-2006 09:27 AM

Yes, they are all Core recipes. But, what I have found with these recipes is that when you figure out the pts, they usually are very low. I guess since they are almost all ff, sf, low sodium, whole wheat pasta or brown rice, and vegetable ingredients, so in the long run they are good for you anyway. I'm making a steak recipe on Sunday. I didn't do anything for today.

I've been OP all week and really strict and I think I'm going to have a gain anyway since TOM has decided to show up; well at least the symptoms are here.

twiddle-my-thumbs 03-03-2006 09:56 AM

Oh, I know, SPILLIE! Core recipes are generally healthy. I was just sayin' that I have no gauge on points until I enter them in (although half of the points recipes I have end up being wrong anyway...some of them by A LOT!).

S told me last night that he doesn't ever want to get sloppy drunk again, or at least not make a habit out of it. And I'm allowed to say something to him if I need to. He said that it's been a good break, and he does feel much better. He actually had 2 last night, and said that it tasted good, but he'd like to limit drinking to once or maybe twice a week, total. We'll see.

I might feel the same way tomorrow night. I've felt very good during the past 4 weeks. I really need to pay more attention to alternating between booze and water, and find good alternatives (like de-alcoholized wines that I just discovered and am going to be purchasing soon).

I saw something about the Philadelphia Wine Festival yesterday and decided that I needed to go - but when I saw how much the tickets are, decided that it's really not that necessary. They are $95 each - boo! Oh well.

RockerChick 03-03-2006 10:04 AM

So I'm guessing S was sloppy drunk last Saturday night? I had a good load on at one of the games already this year...I have to slow down on that though b/c sometimes I say things I shouldn't and that could get me in trouble. I tend to hold a lot of stuff in and when I drink, it sometimes comes out. :yikes:

I know!! More like $190...since DBF and I would've gone together!! I could buy A TON of wine for that much. Heck, I could get to Napa Valley for that much, LOL.

No, no one drank last weekend.

twiddle-my-thumbs 03-03-2006 10:22 AM

ROCKER - S took the 4 week break with me, so he's just starting back up now. Surprisingly no drinking last weekend at all!

Hmmmm...that wine festival would be nice if one of us didn't have to drive! If someone can't take full advantage of paying $95, it's definitely not worth it. I don't know details, but I would hope it includes some take-home stuff, no? And we are going to Napa/Sonoma in 2 months, so I can definitely spend that $ there!

VIVA~GIRL 03-03-2006 10:29 AM

That's just General Admission ($95) - the VIP tickets are $200, and I do not think that includes anything to take home!!

Oh I absolutely LOVED the Napa/Sonoma area. I can't wait to go back. I actually like Sonoma better than Napa. I got some of my FAVORITE wine out there and it sucks because I can't get it here! Where are you guys staying??

twiddle-my-thumbs 03-03-2006 10:40 AM

Don't know where we're staying yet. Got any suggestions? And if you're nice, I might offer to bring something back with me for you. :D (We're flying out and driving back, so that we can bring our "haul" back with us! - What drinking problem?)

RockerChick 03-03-2006 10:42 AM

WHAT? No drinking last weekend? :p

ROCKER can't do wine...she had a very bad experience a long time ago with a gallon of Reuniti Bianco (however you spell that) in Georgetown. 'Nuff said.

RockerChick 03-03-2006 10:46 AM

LMFAO...I just got a visual of VIVA & TWIDDLE stomping grapes to make wine...kinda like on I Love Lucy, with Lucy & Ethel! HAH! :lol3:

How long are you guys going for? We stayed in San Francisco - the Financial District - We just stayed where our conference was - at The Fairmont. It was nice, but I wouldn't pay that much to stay there if I was going for a vacation! If you are mainly going for Napa/Sonoma I'm sure there are some great B&B to stay at, or other places out that way. Wow, driving back. That will be best if you plan on bringing a ton of wine back, LOL! Try not to drink all the wine in the car ;) I bought one of those Wine boxes that held 4 bottles - if I had like 6 more hands that would've been perfect!! I could've brought back a ton! I wanted to ship wine, but PA is stupid so I couldn't :( Make sure you take pictures!!! I took a ton of pictures when I was there...almost 300!!! LOL

twiddle-my-thumbs 03-03-2006 10:58 AM

That's partly why we decided to drive back. We could've shipped to S's mom in NY, but it's more hassle than it's worth, IMO. We bought 2 full cases of wine the first time we went to visit the wineries in VA, and that was just for a weekend (visited 4 wineries on Saturday), so this could get ugly!

The other reason is that I've really wanted to do this cross-country roadtrip for a long time, and S finally agreed to it. He's wanted to do the San Fran trip, I haven't really, so we both get something out of it.

I think we're planning on San Fran for 4 days, Napa or Sonoma for 4 days, and then 6 days to drive back. That may change, it's all a guess right now.
