OH, I'm in soooo much trouble!! My 11 yr. old son gave me his first sign of puberty/teenage/headach yesterday and today he managed to re-play almost the whole scene again. Lord give me strength, I was rotten during those years!!! I barged into his room, shut the door and turned his TV off! He cried for 1/2 hour how nobody likes him, he's ugly, he's fat, we all tell him what to do, and does any of this sound familar???? Oh and he hates school too!! I don't know if he felt better after we talked, but he did sit up and eat but he still didn't want to get a shower!! He is so sweet and charming in the morning, but when bed time rolls around I could KILL!! I really need to work out tonight, my head is going 100 mph! My mother keeps telling me it won't be long I won't be able to get him out of the shower, but I so have my doubts tonight!!
Sorry Needed to Vent!!!!!!!!
Glad everybody is doing better today, it helps to see us all chugging along! Marie I'm glad your dog is ok, when my mothers little yorkie was a puppy she managed to eat a whole candy bar and then had one of my dad's heart pills for desert! It's a wonder it didn't kill her!!!

kpe 04-18-2005 10:32 PM

It sounds like everyone has been busy!! DD is still sick...I thought she might be over it and then this morning it hit her again. At least she hasn't thrown up anymore today. DH is going to stay home with her again tomorrow (I don't think he minds to much missing work).

Lori-My thoughts are with you in this time of puberty!!! I am not looking forward to that when my time comes....those wonderful teenage years...Ugh!!!

Joetta-All that driving for nothing!!! :( Good luck getting your basement put back together.

Marie- I know for a fact that I will never be ready for my "babies" to leave the nest!!!! I just can't even think about that   I'm glad Kodiak is doing better!!!!

Kim- Your such the "Exercise Diva"!!! Could you do a class "for me"?? I don't know where you get all your energy!!!

Judy- I can't even look at mexican food without gaining weight!!! Great willpower!!

Kerry- You are really on a roll. New job, 3lbs, house hunting....it really is all falling into place isn't it. I am so happy for you!

Everyone seems to be doing really well!!!! Yipee!

Wow! Ladies you have kids and dogs wreaking havoc lately! I hope they all get to feeling better and don't drive you too insane (Marie). It's good to see everyone checking in even though we're all busy. Joetta - you're cracking me up with the multiple posts! Whatever works and we get to see you! I think we lost Jen along the way... :(

I'm feeling bloated today as it is the tom and the scale even reflected this by a 1lb gain overnight (literally). I'm ignoring it until after pms and tom are past. Things have been crazy at my house with DH going insane getting final projects done. This is going to last for a couple more weeks and then he's done and not taking summer classes. That'll be nice! :)

Well gotta do some work. I'll check back later.

Good afternoon.

OK. I’m trying this again without the computer failure. I’m having a fairly good week so far, diet and exercise wise. I’ve had my fruit smoothies yesterday and today. Yesterday’s was a mix of banana, strawberries, and mango. Today’s was banana, mango, and pineapple. Very tropical and yummy.

My DH and I went for two hikes on Sunday, and for our usual evening walk. We got rained on on Sunday morning, but the afternoon hike was very nice. It’s still raining here. I don’t mind the rain so much because we really need it, but it seems like it only rains when I’m not working. When I’m stuck in the office, it’s sunny outside. As soon as I get off work, here come the clouds. Okay, that may be a slight exaggeration, but it sure seems that way.

I’m glad everyone seems to be doing better. My mother-in-law said she could really tell that I’ve lost weight. That was nice of her. Unfortunately, she can mostly tell because the first place I lose weight is in my face. But my DH said he can tell other places, too. I’m going to take my body measurements sometime over the next few days, so then I’ll see where I’m losing. My next WI is this next Monday. I was retaining water big time last WI. It’s now all coming back off. I’ve been spending a lot of time in the bathroom. Oh well.

I hope you all continue doing well. Kerry, did you buy that lottery ticket yet? You really should. You seemed to be charmed right now. And Marie, I'm sure glad Kodiak is better. Pets are such a joy to have.

Robin

Today is going good so far. I did 12 minutes on the elliptical this morning on high resistance, then went to a 45 minute spin class, then did some weights. I've eaten taco soup and a nonfat blueberry yogurt so far. I usually eat breakfast, but skipped today. I love Tuesdays! My Tuesday is like everyone else's Saturday. My son and I have our favorite TV shows that we watch on Tuesday nights too. We watch American Idol, then House, then Law and Order SVU. Do any of you watch AI? I like Keri Underwood. My son likes Constantine.

Hey, y'all--

Quickly before I leave town, I want to wish everybody a great rest of the week, in case I don't find myself in front of a computer again before the weekend. My goal is to stay reasonably within the parameters of my plan while I'm in Seattle, and to work out two out of the three days.

Keep making good choices--judy

lmatis 04-19-2005 06:46 PM

Hey Chickies!!!
Why can't it be Friday again???? Peeewwww the kitty litter is super smelly tonight! I'll have to get on that as soon as I work out (if the fumes don't get me first) I made extra food yesterday so no cooking tonight, YEA!

Kim, I used to enjoy having odd days off when I worked and Verizon, it was nice to get the things done that could only be done during business hours. Now I have to beg and plead with family and friends to do some of my stuff done  !

Robin, yea your computer didn't munch up your post!! I know how ya feel, we have been having some beautiful days, but step out the door to head home and your getting soaked!

Kerry, 1lb, don't even sweat it! I weighed in at 147 on Monday and haven't seen it again since! Maybe it will come back to visit me this weekend :D !! I also never under stood how anybody can take summer courses, well I know sometimes ya have to, but what a pain!

Paige, I hope your daughter is feeling better soon! My youngest son had a tooth ace Sunday night, I thought I was going to die when the alarm went off. I'll tell ya what, I'm glad I stoped with 2 kids, I don't miss the diapers and all nighters!!! But puberty is not looking like all that much fun either. I remember I couldn't wait until they could walk and talk, now I just want them to sit down and shut up for 2 mins.

Joetta, I love to drive, but I think that might have slightly irritated me! I'm glad the new girls seem like they are going to work out, once you get everybody trained things should sail along slightly better!! And I'm even happier for you that the brat is gone!!!

Judy, Mexican sounds really good about now! I give you credit though, I hate to eat salads when I go out to dinner, I always think I want something I wouldn't make at home! And I'm not a real salad fan anyway, they always make me feel like I'm on a diet, oh I guess I am! ;) Good luck at the Dr. tomorrow!!!

Marie, I hope all is going smoother today! Moving out, both of my son's keep telling me they are never moving out, which might not be a childish story. My darling brother still lives with my parents he's 39 yrs old now. Mom gave up and put his name on the house. He has an awsome job, tons of money and no responablility. He helps my parents with the taxes and home repairs. He dates, but has no intrest of getting serious. My kids think this is the greatest thing in the world!! How can I tell them he's wrong, heck sometimes I'm jealous that I didn't think of it first !!!!

Ok, I'm going to work out, I'll check back in later!!!

Loud_Librarian 04-19-2005 06:46 PM

Have a safe and good trip Judy! I wish you the best on sticking to your plan while traveling.

Robin - I'm glad that your getting positive feedback from your family. It really makes you feel like it's worth it doesn't it? Keep it up! BTW I have the same issue with the weather. When I'm locked in the library it's beautiful and then rainy on the weekends! Ugh! Soon it will be too steamy and hot to stand being outside at all. :sigh: I'm not going to complain too much bc I have a job now! :D

Kim - We watch AI mostly bc it is on before House and we're big House fans. The thing about us and AI is that we only talk about who we want gone. We wish that you could vote for OR AGAINST each contestant. We'd actually call to vote OFF Scott Savol!!! My top pick is Carrie Underwood too.

Well I've eaten well today - coffee then grapes; peanut butter/honey sanwich and apple; and we're having a light dinner. I'll even have room for a snack. I'm going to go do my floor exercises now and then cook dinner.

Catch you girls later! :)

Loud_Librarian 04-19-2005 06:52 PM

Lori - you snuck in under me :p I hate it when the kitty litter stinks! I usually pawn that chore off on DH. He'll do anything so as to avoid dealing with the finances! And that is too much about your brother still at your folks! OMG I hope your boys don't get the same idea!! ;)

KYColonel 04-19-2005 09:29 PM

Hey Lori, did you notice that Robin said that pets are such a joy to have?--she didn't mention anything about the joys of prepubescent boys! The girl is a smart one!
Mine is now 15 and puberty is full blown. He can still live without the shower, but he also jokes about using more soap than he needs for cleaning!!!! Of course I tease him a lot about masturbation, telling him that his right arm is like twice the size of his left...........gotta have a sense of humor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Girlfriends have been limited to online ones, but the cheerleaders are making way too many remarks to him, I know the time is coming soon.............

Happy trip Judy.....And Kerry, I see I am not the only multiple poster...............

Have a great evening all!
Joetta

Just a quick post before I finish tackling the laundry pile. I hate folding and putting it away!!!!

Anyway DD is feeling better and will go back to school tomorrow. DH stayed home with her again today, and he had a project to finish for his class tonight. DS has a cavity ( I think) and the dentist can't see him until the end of May. We might have to see if we can find a different dentist, I don't think he is going to beable to wait that long. Always something I guess.

We had a breakfast at work today so I had to use a few bonus points to get me through the day. But I guess that is what they are for. We have another one tomorrow. A fellow WW'er made a to die for fritta (sp?) that was only 2 points. It was soooooooooooo Yummy. She is going to make it again for tomorrow. We are giving our state achievement test for our 3rd and 4th graders so we always have a breakfast for those teachers on testing day.

I am looking forward to WI on Thursday. I am hoping that I will have lost the 4lb gain from last week since TOM has decided to make an apperance.

Check in again tomorrow!!! You all are doing great! Keep it up.

Marie 04-19-2005 10:49 PM

Hi all,

First, thanks for all the good wishes to Kodiak. I told him about them and I do believe he was touched. :) I sure was. He's doing better, but not quite himself. He's skinny as a rail and isn't eating much. I think he's worn out from having a sustained (about 24 hours) heart rate of 217. A bring him back to the vet on Thursday to get a better idea of long term damage. Either way, both of us thank you all.

Paige, my fingers are crossed that the 4th pound is gone. Having work meals is always hard and tend to break my motivation.

Kim, I like Carrie Underwood too. Constantine gives me the creeps and if Scott doesn't get voted off soon, I think I'm going to stop watching the AI. He hurts my ears and I'm pretty sure he's the one that broke my TVs speakers.

Lori, puberty with boys. I was lucky, my two didn't go too overboard. Although I had to laugh at Joetta and her comment about masturbation. I was able to talk to my kids about sex (still do since DS18 is dating a girl 16 and Oregon cracks down on stat. rape). But masturbation, that I couldn't do. Joetta is much braver than me. I love that you brother still lives at home. That's actually got to be sort of a relief for you since he's taking care of them. I think that would be pretty cool. I live in the middle of nowhere and both boys want to live in town where there's cable internet and less driving (gas prices). I personally think they're nuts since it's paradise here.

Kerry, don't sweat a 1 pound gain. TOM is a like a dumbbell on the scale.

Robin, couldn't agree with you more about the weather. It knows to rain in the evening. It just did and I got home less than an hour ago. Before that it was sunny, even if it was still cold. I think it's one of Murphy's laws.

I've done pretty good today diet wise. DH is in Alaska, so I'm home by myself. Dinner can be nothing if I overate at work, which I did a little bit so dinner was little. That sure makes dieting easier.

Take care and I'll chat with you tomorrow.
Marie

Joining a Gym TONIGHT!

I am so excited, I wanted to share the good news. I just found out that my employer has quite a few discount programs and one in particular is with the gym near my house (walking distance). The joining fee is waived and the monthly membership is reduced to $19.99!!! :dancer: So I am going tonight to sign up and pay my first month so I can start working out ASAP! :strong: I feel really good about this. It is the next step in my plan. Now that I've seen what I am capable of without regular exercise I can't even imagine with it! :)

kimberlydrn 04-20-2005 02:50 PM

Today is going pretty good so far. I feel like I'm starving though. I might have to go get me something to eat. I plan on going to the gym after church tonight. Have any of you tried the no pudge fudge brownies? They're fat free and sound yummy. I think they are 2 points each.

Kerry-That's great about the gym discount. Working out helps keep me motivated. I usually overeat on the days I don't work out, especially Sundays. I wish I had time to squeeze a workout in there and I would probably make better food choices. I would love to lose 2 pounds/week between now and the end of June. That's what I'm shooting for.

lmatis 04-20-2005 06:12 PM

Good evening Chickies!!
Is it Friday yet??

Kerry that's great, for that price heck I'ld join (I'm so cheap sometimes)!

Paige, I love breakfast!! Thank goodness your WW pal saved the day, they talked this morning about doing a breakfast meeting in the future, I didn't say anything but I cringed at the thought. It's hard to find low fat breakfast items at a resturant. Glad DD is feeling better, and don't wait to get the tooth fixed! Up all night with a toothache is AWFUL, for you and him!!!

Marie, wow that med really made him sick! I had no idea it would do that to him! When I was in early labor they gave me breathien (sp??) asthma medicne, well it made it really had to breath, I guess because I didn't need it for asthma, it actually stops labor (go figure)! Anyway, I hope he bounces back!

Joetta, too funny!! I hope he settles down some before we have to deal with the sex issues! The I hate myself and everything just scares the **** out of me! When I was in school we had a string of kids kill themselves because of stupid stuff, now they are gunning each other down, and that kid that beat a member of the opposing team over the head with a bat. I worry about anger issues with the hormones. Actually I'ld rather deal with the whole sex thing, I'ld rather be on condom watch than sucide watch anyday!!!

Kim, I want to know about the brownies if you try them!!!

Ok, back to laundry duty!! I'll check back!
