Thanks for the warm welcome you guys, I feel right at home!

joana - your English is perfectly fine, you're awesome!

fatmommyinPA - according to my calculations you have consumed 22.5 points for the day and at your weight you would most likely be allowed 25 points (but I could be off by a point or two) so you are eating in your allowable point range by WW standards!

I detoured to McDonald's today on my home from the hospital (my aunt had a stroke, which has been my catalyst to start getting the weight off fyi) and I feel terrible about it even tho I stayed within my point range for the day!!! I know the fat I consumed in that small meal was more than I needed for the entire day. Still, I feel good that I didn't break down and order a Large Quarter Pounder combo or some other such nonsense and I am also proud that I ate that small meal and didn't convince myself that the show was over and binge this evening...hopefully tomorrow I will make myself even prouder!

WillPower

Your willpower is much stronger than you think. But all too often, most of it is being used to maintain your own ego, which gets you nowhere.

You use the energy of your willpower to prove you are right, yet that brings nothing of value. You use your willpower to defend and justify what you already know rather than learning something new.

Your willpower is always pointed in precisely the direction you have decided to point it. Take a good look around and you'll see what that direction has been, you'll see where your willpower has brought you so far.

Then make the decision to apply the considerable power of your will to the things that truly matter. Instead of wasting your willpower on frustration, anger and envy, put it to use creating value, achievement and real joy.

Your willpower can take you quickly and effectively to wherever you decide to go. Keep it pointed in a positive direction!!

I'm not sure if I told my story or not so here it goes. My name is Julie and i'm 33 from Texas. I was on South Beach for about 4 months and lost 20 pounds and switched to Weight Watchers in September. My highest was 242 and now I'm at 210. My goal weight is about 170. My height is 5'10". I feel like I've hit a plateau but working on it. I am starving this morning. :( I have a REAL sweet tooth. I'm craving those white powdered donuts in the snack machine. Anyone have any ideas on how to satisfy a sweet tooth without spending all my points. I had a bowl of Low Carb Special k and Skim Milk. Hope everyone has a good day.

Julie :)

I absolutely love the Quaker carmel corn rice cakes. They are sweet and don't make you feel like you are depriving yourself of anything. My biggest problem is trying to keep my daughter from eating them all so I can have some. Another great sweet tooth thing are the Miss Meringu (I think that's right) cookies. They come in chocolate, vanilla, cappucino, mint chocolate and more. I think they are completely fat free, and I know they are very low calorie.

Happy birthday, Erin :) (for some reason, I thought it said Friday... see how much I pay attention? LOL)

Day Six!

:coffee:

Hey everybody!

Can you believe I made it to Day Six of my new healthier lifestyle? I normally crack on Day 3, you know when the sugar cravings really kick in! Today, I am going to make a start on doing some exercise. I promised my buddy 10 minutes on the treadmill, it has been so long since I have done any kind of excercise, so wish me luck!

GiddyupKaos - you are SO right, honey, no Mickey D's today!!!

Happy Birthday Erin!

I think you are being too hard on yourself. Most people only lose 1-2 pounds a week. You've maintained a weight loss since Saturday, which is wonderful. This morning, I lost half a pound, and I just told myself, "okay, that is weight I am NEVER going to see again." Focus on the positive instead of the instant results. It took a long time to gain the weight, and you can't expect it all to disappear overnight. If you lose too quickly, it's probably because you are doing something unhealthy that you won't be able to stick with, and it will come back.

thechangingtable 02-24-2005 03:35 PM

sorry, been bummed, scale said I gained 2 lbs and i was so depressed the last 2 days. Today my scale says back to 214, so I feel a little better. Last week I ordered some weight loss drugs online (i have no prescription or insurance). They came yesterday and I took one today with lunch. I have to eat low fat or else I will be sitting on the toilet all day/night. I am trying to only eat low fat or no fat, so hopefully this will help me along. I know diet drugs are not for everybody, but since I am a stay at home mom, maybe I can do this and not worry about embarrassing accidents out of the home. I have not been drinking my water or on the elliptical yesterday or today, so I will go do that now.

jmepudge 02-24-2005 03:50 PM

Hello girls. I have not had time to check in today. Just now getting a break at work. I really need to get the internet at home so I can check in more often.

I had a bad food day yesterday but that is ok......I will get back on track and pray it does not show up on the scales. I did get 80oz of water in yesterday and good exercise too. That made me feel better.

Erin............ Happy Birthday!!!!

Welcome Jeanessa and Lisa......if support and motivation is what you seek you have come to the right place. These ladies are WONDERFUL!!!!

Jeanessa........good luck with the exercising and good job on making it to day 6!!! I think the first week is the worst.

Lisa.........I must agree with Michelle, you are being to hard on yourself. Hang in there. You said no more weight gone but look at it as no weight GAINED!!! It has taken me a few years to gain this weight and it could take that time to lose.

Ann..........Good Luck with the weight-in tonight. Good vibes being sent your way!!!

Joana..........Your english is fine. I have not had any problems reading it. Don't worry about it. Good Job on dinner last night. Not sure I would have had that kind of willpower at Outback!!! Your on your way!!!

Christina.........Woo hoo!!!! 1 1/2lbs is 1 1/2lbs. Keep up the good work that you are doing. You will be to your goal in due time.

Well ladies I must go for now. I will try to check in before I leave for the day. I hope you all have a wonderful evening.

pinkpolopony 02-24-2005 04:32 PM

Thank you to everyone for your birthday wishes!!! Today is my 24th... 24 on the 24th! I'm not fond of getting older, but oh well.

Anyway, I'd been doing well all week, but then today came... it's my birthday and I'm being baaaaad. I had a donut for breakfast since my boss brought them in (I couldn't refuse something he bought in my honor) and I'm going out with some friends for dinner tonight. Then, this weekend, I'm going to see my family who will also be taking me out for meals. I won't be able to go to the gym, but I'm going to try to go running or at least walking while I'm out of town.

I'm hoping a few days semi-off the wagon won't have too much impact.

I'm kind of on a plateau right now anyway, and I've heard that a few days of higher calories can actually jump start your metabolism again. Let's hope that's true!

jeanessa 02-24-2005 05:40 PM

Animal Crackers are my new best friend!!!

Why is it that when you are trying to be healthy, you start to crave each and every little thing that ever went in your mouth? Today, I craved an egg mcmuffin (which I, as a general rule, loathe because of the egg-like eggy substance) and a taco salad and chocolate. It's like..."You can't have me, I know you want me!"

michellejy - you have a great way of looking at things! I am with you. I refuse to live and die by the scale, yes, I want the numbers down but sometimes your body naturallcy fluctuates up and down a few pounds because of water, salt, your TOM, etc. You could weigh yourself three different times during the day and get three different weights! I think that we put too much stock into what the scale says emotionally and sometimes that can sabotage us.

We're all new newbies, so half of the battle is figuring out how to stay on plan and keep going regardless of external factors. I try to think like this: A week ago, I was pigging out on whatever I wanted whenever I wanted it and now I am in control. I'm taking the steps I need to take for better health and I am going to see changes no matter what the scale says right at this moment.

Anyway, I'm done preaching!

pinkpolopony - sometimes you have to shake things up a little to get your body on track...besides, you only turn 24 once and its your Golden Birthday (24 for 24). You deserve to have fun! You can do the excercise this weekend and make the best choices you can about food and get back on track on Monday!

Be good for the rest of the day, y'all!
