Ginny...gin & tonic...ginger ale...city gin:  Sorry. The pain is going to my brain. You are a better person than me and wiser too. You know that the best way to heal the pain is to forgive...not for him...but for your DD and you to move on. God will deal with him...you know, "what goes around, comes around." I'm sorry you are having trouble sleeping as well. Read Robyn's note for ideas. I'll be back.

Kerry, I wish I could say that DH is supportive. But that would be a lie. He is actually quite insensitive. The only reason he is on SB with me is that he needs to drop 20 lbs., and for the moment, he has nothing to hold over my head. Trust me, as soon as he drops the weight, he will go back to being a jerk wanting to know why I don't have Pamela Anderson's body.
I got out of school early too due to snow. If tomorrow is a snow day, I will be screwed. I am off tomorrow because the inner cities celebrate "Three King's Day" for the hispanic residents. However the suburbs have school. So DD has school, and I had all sorts of plans for the one day a year I am off when DD doesn't. But, it is looking like it will be a snow day, and I will be stuck watching her whining friend all day. Her mom and I have a deal that she drives my DD to school and I watch hers on snow days. :( |
Mousie, we had bad attendance on Monday as well. Cool about the book signing! :coffee: That sounds like an amazing experience for your kids. Things like that don't happen often.
Paisley, WELCOME!!! Now, don't be like all the other people who visit us once and never return!!! If you want to be here, then be here. We would love to have you here...especially if you are sarcastic!!! |
Okay, so you would like to know how I got hurt? I am soooo accident prone. Well, DD left her slipper on the stairs. I didn't see it, tripped on it, and bashed my right hand in the wall in the attempt to grab the banister. Am I lame? Yes, in more ways than one!!! (crap!!! the smilies won't work again! F*CK!)
I have done waaaay too much with this hand today. So, I'm outie. By the way...I LOST 5 POUNDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
ouch, Summer! I'm sorry to hear about your hand--that sounded really painful, as did your "frustration w/AOL" post. Congrats on the 5 lbs, though! That's absolutely wonderful! I have every intention of sticking around. . .but, um, I'm sure that everyone who's posted once then fled has also had that intention, so hm. . .:dunno:
I was sorry to hear about the sleeplessness, HattarasMermaid (please, please, please tell me there's a short version of that name--lazy typer, that's me). I hope that it gets better as back to school continues. I checked my weight today, and it's the same as yesterday. . .this would be why weekly weigh ins are nice--but for some masochistic reason, i choose to weigh myself every day. I'm not actually stressing about it, it just would have been motivating to see an eeensy bit of movement. That said, If my weight on Sat is the same, I'll be ticked. I got all frustrated today. . .one of my neighbors (who I really really like) saw me on my way out the drive way. She was driving and we talked, and she joked about how her walking shoes were in her car, so that counted, right? It was cute, but it made think about how she's about a size 8-10, and only does yoga 1x a week and is in her 50's, and is well loved by all the local restaurant owners b/c she stops by a different one each day for dinner. . .and I'm much larger and have exercised more in the last week than she has in the last (literally) 3 months, but still get to deal with the whole obesity thing. urgh. Live is not fair! (insert imaginary "2-year old pouting" smiley here) ;) Ok done with that little vent. . .and at the very least eating better and exercising more had made me feel better than before! |
Good Evening Ladies,
I made it into Curves and put in a sweaty workout tonight. Now I am trying to keep myself busy so that I don't give into my cravings and go eat something. I am trying really hard to fight tom munchies. This rainy weather is killing me. All I feel like doing is going to sleep. That is not fair since I have stuff that I should be working on. Oh well, I guess this is the Jan. blues setting in, since I haven't seen the sun in about a week now. Summer, please take care of yourself and rest your hand. I am sorry to hear that your day off tomorrow might be used as a snow day watching your dd's high maintence friend. Keep up the good work on your SB. Here I thought your dh was finally being supportive of you. Proof to him that you can do and you are going to look great when you are thinner. Paisley, don't you just hate skinny people who make jokes about their effort for excerise. I know that I have several coworkers who are always complaining about how heavy they are and how they need to watch what they eat and they workout a couple times aweek. Everyone raves about how great they look and don't even say anything about how hard I am working to get to the point in my life that I am finally happy with my body and the clothes I am able to wear now. Keep up the hard work and it will pay off in the long run. Just give it time and the results will start to appear. Glad to see that you came back to join us. Like Summer said others will post once and then disappear. Robyn, Mouse, and Ginny hope all is well with you gals! Ginny how is your dm today? Well I think I am going to try and read a little while and then go to bed. Talk to you all tomorrow. Have a great Thursday! Kerry |
Just a short hello, as I have to get Dd into bed. Who knows what this weather will bring for tomorrow, I am hoping for lots of snow........another closure (we were off today, boy did I need that!). Either way, I am off for the pm, Dm has a Dr appt. BTW, she is doing very well. Thanks to everyone for their concern.
Welcome Paisley!!! You have my admiration.......I must say, I think that I am the least tolerant of the middle school years. And if you can handle 8th grade, in my book you deserve the medal of honor! Summer- OUCH!!! (I am accident prone too). Have you had the hand seen by a Dr? Awesome news about the 5# loss!!!!!! Oh, and BTW, ,my advice is to go to a Dr, get a cast whether you need it or not,and then bash Dh over the head with a complete explanation as to why you do not have Pamela Andersons body! Take care of yourself,ok? Kerry- don't be discouraged about the WI! SOunds like you know as well as we do that it is all TOM.......you have been doing great. And a true inspiration with all the workouts. Try not to give into the cravings......does diet jello help you at all? At least with that you can eat the whole box with no dammage! (I resort to that at times) Robyn- get some sleep ok?????? Although I must admit, you are very funny without sleep, (or when you are angry or sarcastic!). But you need the rest for your well being.......take out a boring book or something like that. Mouse- how are you doing? Gotta go........might be back later. Nighty, nite~! Ginny |
Hey ya'll! It is good to see you all doing SO well! Sorry that you are all snow/rain bound! It is headed our way.... Tuesday was nearly 80. Yesterday was not over 50. Today they say back to 60s.. GEESH! Anyway....
Paisley, My name is Robyn! You can use that ...it definately shorter, huh?! Gin, glad mom is doing well... hope she gets a good checkup! Summer, WHEN does that AOL expire?! I'm trying to send good "no snow" karma to you! Kerry, keep your umbrella handy! Keep going girlie! Oh... I finally slept... yep, resorted to drugs.... AND I slept too long...and so this is the end of my post... take care... hope your thursday..CRaP...forgot to weigh! Duh...Hope your Thursday is great! meeee |
:D :D :D Another snow day........gee, I am so upset! :D :D :D
Good morning! Robyn, you early bird! Beat us all here.......I am so glad that you got some sleep, ok even with a little chemical assistance. If you do not get enough rest, it is hard to resist all the wonderful viruses that our kids bestow upon us. Also, did you hear that study that implied that people who do not get enough sleep are fatter? (had something to do with overeating when tired, I think, plus some metabolism issues) Anyway, WI when you can.......the most important thing is that you do so at some time for some accountability. Hope you have a great day!!!!! Paisley- now that I have taken the time to actually read your post (instead of skimming). Which island do you live on? Many years ago, Dh and I went to Hawaii for our honeymoon.....I loved it, and actually cried in Honolulu airport because we had to leave. Do you have any specific eating plan that you will be following, or just some common sense? Kerry-your blues, and lack of energy might be because good ol' TOM is coming for a visit.....I get that way the day or so before. Also, you were pretty busy during break. This might be your way of attempting to recharge your batteries a bit. Keep up with the workouts (keep those endorphins flowing). I hope you perk up a bit......and that this winter weather stuff takes a break for you. Hey, come to think of it, for all of us dealing with winter weather, we should all meet at a central location.......maybe Philadelphia would work........and crash in on Robyn (who brags about her 80 degree weather ;) ) just to make her life interesting! Anyway, hope your day goes well. Summer- how are you doing? I would think that you too have today off....which I hope is good for resting your hand. Keep up the good work with the 5# loss....I am so happy for you! Mouse- gee, you are quiet these days. Everything ok? Well, I got out to shovel snow so Dh could get to work (he did most of it, I just helped with the finishing touches). And all the troops are sleeping.....forgive me for loving a quiet house so much. I am coming down with a wee bit of a cold, which I hope does not get too bad. I know there is a reallly nasty cold that seems to hold on for weeks. Maybe I can rest up a bit and avoid that. Later on I have to take Dm to the Dr, he wants to change her bandage and follow up on the surgery. I spoke to her last night and she sounds very good. Hope she is healing well. Guess I'd better go.....opps, I forgot......I will get to WW tomorrow am after my morning route. Not expecting the WI to be great, but I have to get back on track. Yesterday my eating was good, and I did get a workout in. Aw, shut up Ginny........gosh I can babble about nothing!! Have a great day! Ginny |
Another day off due to the flooding from all the rain, we have gotten this past week. I will come back and get more personal with you all later. Have to go and try to wake myself up with a workout. Talk to you all later.

We got a few inches of snow last night only to be topped off with freezing rain. I live on a state road so it is plowed, but the side roads weren't plowed and are now frozen slush. What a mess!!! The poor dog managed to get to his "spot" to do his business, but he couldn't walk back across the backyard to the deck. He kept slipping on the icey layer over the snow and falling on his butt! I thought it was high entertainment, but DD said I was mean. She went on to lecture me about being unkind and laughing at others. She finished her lecture with tips on how to be a better friend since she learned all about it from "Little Mrs. Susie Homemaker," at Brownies. Maybe it was heartless, but it was still funny to watch. He finally found his way in by walking in old footprints...not too dumb after all! Yes, I'm home with DD and her high maintanance friend. She's only been here for 30 minutes and has already interrupted me in the bathroom to ask me a stupid question, almost fallen down the stairs (I should really put up the yellow police tape on those stairs since they've already been the scene of one accident this week!), and has cried hysterically because she got poked in the eye. It is gonna be a loooooong day. Think about it. I spend seven hours a day with 36 preschoolers and we manage to make it through our day with a lot less problems.
I forgot to tell you all about the latest with "Little Mrs. Susie Homemaker." She "taught" the Brownies about friendship the other day. (What would I do without her to teach my daughter things I would never think of myself...ha ha ha!!!) She sent each child (except for mine) home with an envelope. Inside the envelope was supposed to be the name of a "secret friend" to write a letter to. They had to mail it through the school mail and bring them to the next Brownie meeting to guess who wrote to them. Since DD didn't get an envelope, I called to try to locate it. There were several stories and explanations, but it didn't change the fact that my DD was the only child left out. This really pissed me off. Finally through the process of elimination, we figured out who her "secret friend" is so she will be able to do the project. What irritates me is that after a long day of school, DD's homework, dinner etc., I didn't need to spend 2 hours on the phone doing detective work. When I was a girl scout, we did our projects at the meetings. There was never take home stuff. LMSH may have plenty of time on her hands to do cutesy projects, but I don't. And when things go wrong, which they usually do with LMSH, it ruins my entire evening and usually a couple other days after that in the fallout. AAAAAHHHHHH!!!! I wish this woman would get a job so she would understand what it is like to try to "do it all!!!" I will be back. The girls are getting wild. They are fighting over watching Scooby Doo which DD is afraid of. AAAAAHHHHH!!!!! |
Well ladies I was able to do a two mile watp tape. Then I hurried up to get a shower so my dh and I could run to the grocery store while the kids were in school. That way we save a lot of money without having to buy all the junk they want or have to agure with them as to why they can't have it and then they get all pissed off at us. Only for his friend to call and say he needs his help for a little while. I was proud of my dh because he told him that he could only help him until 1. So that means a really fast trip to the store so we can be back here at the house when the kids get off the school bus. It is nice living in a different county from the one you work in at times, because we are not under flood waters like my school district is.
Summer sorry to hear that your day is not going so well for you. Too bad you couldn't be like the fairies on The Fairy Oddparents and wish the high maintence child to be calm and low-key for the day. Is she an only child? I would have been laughing at the antics of watching the dog trying to come back to the house too. Aren't you amazed at what comes from little one's mouths at times? How they seem to what to take on the role of parent sometimes? Hope you can make it through the day without hurting anyone. Ginny glad to hear that your dm is doing so well. You sound so broken up about having another snow day. LOL So what exciting things do you have planned for your day off, other than taking your dm to the doctor's this afternoon? Hope your cold is a short visitor and not a long nasty visitor. I will have to try the diet jello trick. Thanks for the tip. Mouse, so how is your week going? I hope you have been able to put in some swim time. We miss you. Hope things are well with you. Robyn, glad to hear that you finally got some sleep. I bet that made you feel good. Hope your day is going well for you. I would love to have the weather you have this week instead of al this rain. LOL. Paisley, I bet you just love not having to deal with all the snow and ice issues that we do. So what is your weather like right now? As for the scales, I hate to admit it but I weigh myself every morning after I get out of the shower. It helps me somedays make better food choices and motiviates me to do better. So I hope that you see a drop in your scales on Saturday. Well I better go and get a grocery list done. Talk to you all later. Kerry |
Well, things have calmed down since I fed them lunch. Phew!
Kerry, no, high maintanance child is not an "only." She has a younger sister, and they are both monsters. It is funny, because my "only" breaks the stereotype. She is well-behaved, only a little spoiled, and gets along well with others including sharing. I must admit that I put a lot of time early on to socialize her and make sure that she would be welcome at others' homes. She has always had good manners and been the perfect lady out in public. If she has a meltdown, it is at home...and even then, it is followed with an apology. I am a real behaviorist at school, and it transferred to my home. All my friends with kids have more than one, and they tolerate a lot more than I do. I'm sorry you had to accumulate another day to make up because of the flooding, but at least you aren't trapped at home. It is great that you got your work-out in. I've been doing my recumbent bike at home. Tomorrow is my only day that I get out early enough to go to the gym. So, after not being there for longer than I can remember, I will be returning there after school tomorrow unless the streets are still icey. Right now it is treacherous here. Ginny, so we are the only ones with snow. Be careful on the roads taking DM to the Dr. I hope she is doing better. Take some echinacea, vitamin C, zinc, chicken soup, and tea for your cold so you can nip it in the bud. I dread colds these days because of my asthma. Hopefully your cold will go away quickly with rest and proper care. How are your roads? Are you dealing with just snow or did it ice over? I live in an area that warms up just enough to get freezing rain for just long enough to coat everything and then freeze over. I wish it would just snow, period. Robyn, Tuesday was 80?! Good Lord Louise!!! I'm freezing off my patooti and your sweating off yours!!! How far south are you? Excuse me for one moment as I turn up the heat and put on another layer of fleece... ;) Okay, I'm back now. I'd better keep typing so my fingers don't freeze!!! Okay, why are my smilies working now but wouldn't work this morning?! I'm sorry you had to resort to drugs to sleep, but you've gotta do what you've gotta do. I hope you can sleep tonite without assistance. Paisley, How's it going? You sound like you belong with us. Gonna go, I hear them going bonkers again. |
Not the best week back
I was really happy to go back to work on Monday--mostly because my 12 y.o. son was driving me absolutely crazy. I think we are all doing better with a stable routine. Then it turned out we have a snow day today; he is now at a friend's house.
Some of my lessons didn't go well this week but I'm trying not to obsess about that. I taught 8th grade last year, switched to 6th (and from full-time to half-time, in a new school system) this year. A lot of changes to adjust to, all at the same time. I really like my 6th graders but keep realizing how much more details/explanations/hand-holding they need for assignments and instructions. In terms of weight, I am staying within my range. I have exercised twice this week (aerobics/strength/stretching at the very basic YMCA near me). I need to make sure I eat more during the day--that's always my biggest challenge. Otherwise I come home ravenous and that's never a good thing. My plan is to aim for 8 points eaten during the workday. Last week I increased to 24 points and could maintain my weight. I bought some frozen entrees at Trader Joes, and I've also been eating a really good bean-vegetable soup I made last Sunday. It's almost Friday! |
Survived today.....and now Dd and I have a stomach bug. So far, nothing too horrific......but I can't migrate too far from the potty. Gosh, I hope I did not give this to my mom. It would be about the last thing she needed. Her visit with the Dr went well. He changed the bandage- did not say much- and of course we sat in his waiting room for an hour to be seen for 5 minutes. But at least it all seems to be going well, you cannot see how it is healing yet, as he left that part covered. What he changed was the compression acebandage around her head to keep the graft in place. All in all I was gone almost 5 hours......so that shot my day pretty well.
Elana- yup, 6th graders sure need a LOT more attention than 8th graders with how they handle their work. I think in most curriculums, there is a huge jump from 5th to 6th grade......as they try to gear up the students to what will be a high school level of work. So it must be a big adjustment for you. I hear ya with the return to the routine. It comes as both good and bad. Would sure be nice if the kids could go back to school and let us have a week or so to ourselves......guess it does not work that way, though! As far as your eating goes, perhaps you can have a snack ready for yourself in the kitchen- prebagged for portion control- of something that will hold your appetite down until dinner is ready. I have done that with some baby carrots and it works well for me. Keeps me out of the junk and tasting stuff that I should not. (got that hint from a WW leader) Summer- so the playdate from h*** is back!! Oh you poor thing.....you needed this kind of abuse today??? BTW, how is your hand feeling???? And how did your weather end up? We started out with snow (about 5 inches) which switched to rain.....freezing rain....then just rain. It is supposed to refreeze tonite, and I would not be surprised if we had a delay tomorrow am. The major roads (if you can call these darned windey, hilly rural roads that) are ok...I am sure that the secondary roads are awful. Sorry your roads sound so bad today. Good job getting the recombinant bike in....bet you had to get rid of some stress from Suzie homemaker and your playdate!!!!!!! Thanks for the advice on the cold. My colds irritate my asthma too. Kerry- I hope you got your shopping done peacefully. Simply amazing that when shopping without the kids you buy baked lays tortilla chips or something remotely good for you like that....and if they are there it is Fruit Loops and Dunkaroos! Good for you getting the WATP tape in. (I did mine too!). I must say, the diet jello has bailed me out on many occasions. And I ate the whole box. ;) (Walmart brand is pretty good too, and much cheaper). I should get back to the daily WI's like you do, yes it does help inspire after a not so good day. Mouse- where are you?????? We miss you. Robyn- ok, make us all feel crummy and tell us how warm it was in the south! ;) Just kidding- honestly, I needed this day off, if you could call it that. Hope you had a good day too! Guess I'd better go.....I will try to get here tomorrow, but with the weather and how I feel, who knows. Have a good nite! Ginny |
