Just me ol' blabber puss again. Took Dd to the Dr- who did culture her urine (the high fever made me think it was her reflux) and listen to her lungs. The urine came back negative (full culture results tomorrow) but she heard something in her lungs, so we had to go for a chest xray to rule out pneumonia. Did that.......now we are home...I am pooped and boy did I ever need this sick day. Came home and took a nap and still have no energy.
Guess I'd better go and try to finish those pesky dishes. Happy Friday.

Oh, Ginny, hope your daughter is better! We've had a lot of pneumonia and stuff going around the school. Not too many staff, though one of our resource staff who is almost always here has been out for a whole week now. I'm pretty lucky: I know I had something mild last week, because it manifested itself in a huge cold sore on my lip starting on Monday. That usually a sure sign your immune system is fighting something else.
I'm still really, really tired. Its got to be the increase in the medication: it can cause dizziness and fatigue, and I've got both!
I talked to my TA this morning before the kids came in, she was in a pretty good mood. I told her exactly what the administrators said to me, and asked her if that is what happened. She said that not only isn't what happened, it was one child. She put what she told the child to do in writing and submitted it to our supervisor with the comment that the child should get an informational and a lunch detention for lying.
But now I have a therapist at the school being an utter :censored:. Some of these people make me so mad, its like they've never worked with kids before and have no idea how to do even the simplest things. This one team really must have it in for this child... They think she's manipulating myself and my TA. Now, I admit that she might have been manipulating me, but my TA? Who has been doing it for 30 years? Never. Not possible. I do see leadership skills and abilities in a lot of the kids that other staff doesn't see these things in, but hey, that's me. And my class is very different from other classes... we're not academic, so kids who hate academics tend to do better with us.
Anyway, first she made it to LEvel 5 (the highest level of our behavioral system), and her team has decided that due to her "lingering in the hallways", she must be in the room before 2nd bell and can't leave once in the room. I have her 7th period. Our bathrooms are locked. To get in a bathroom, she needs to ask me or my TA. In fact, ALL the girls always seem to have to go to the bathroom the beginning of 7th period, which makes sense: its almost 2.5 hours after they eat lunch (they eat at 10:30, I have them at 1:00). Many of them buy iced tea in the cafeteria or sodas at the school store during their study period, so between that and lunch, damn straight they have to use the bathroom. My end of the building is newer than the other wing, so our bathrooms are all single-occupant, so we can transfer students in wheelchairs easier. She is in the room before 2nd bell and then asks to go to the bathroom. If I tell her she can't go, I must tell the other girls they cannot go as well. I won't be party to favoritism or different rules for different kids regarding basic bathroom rights. There are some kids that we do say they must ask before 2nd bell to go, and can't go during the middle of the period without paying for the privilege with a point off their point sheets. And there are a couple of kids who are unsafe in the bathroom so we have to put our foot in the door or find a male staff member to assist. But none of this applies to this child who is permitted to go in the halls without escort, and who goes to the school store without an escort. I have to meet with her team on Monday and her therapist is threatening me (the last email she sent me said, "I don't want to have to bring others into this issue, you must abide by the TEAM decision."). No. I have to abide by SCHOOL decisions, but in my classroom I create and follow the rules unless it affects the safety or well-being of a child.
This same therapist sent out another stupid message later to all of us about another girl who is allegedly stealing the boyfriends of some of these other girls. Including one girl who is a sophomore, her boyfriend is a senior. I had her boyfriend in homeroom and class for 2 years... he was one of the guys that I took OUT OF STATE to a conference last winter. He's a great kid, and his girlfriend is really good too. I like both of them. He gave me the absolute highest praise you can get last year, when he told my mother (yes, my mom helped me out at the out of state conference by providing another chaperone), "She's fair. She always listens to both sides, and when its over, its over."
Now, this child has been dating his girl since they were in MIDDLE SCHOOL. There is no way this other child will ever be able get him away from his girl. She could strut naked downt he hallway and he wouldn't notice unless his girl was behind her!
And the therapist tells me I'm wrong. Oh, and the girl that is stealing boyfriends? Yea, she's been dating a kid (another student I have had for 2 years) in our certificate program, and who lives in her county. He rides her bus. Both sets of parents approve of the relationship and chaperone appropriately. The mother of the boy talks to the girl if she sees her in the hallway.
Puhleeeese. That was my Friday. The good news is that we now have a business partnership with a local Marriott hotel, and we're having our first meeting on Wednesday morning. I set this up, and I'm so happy. Its the second one I've set up that has turned out this way. :)

Happy Friday!
Ginny you were right! Absolutely not a single flake of snow! Oh well, such is life. It was a pretty ok day today. Nothing monumental, no tragedies etc... I can handle that! Just pooped. Just took a long soak in a bubble bath and have on my flannel jammies. ( They have teddy bears on them ) hubby says they bring out the stuffed animal in him.
Didn't excercise today. It was all I could do to plop onto the couch when I got home. Then we had chinese food and to beat it all I drank a little too much Pepsi. HI MY NAME IS PAM AND I'M A PEPSIHOLIC :nono:
I love love love Pepsi. You could just hook up an iv with pepsi and I would be in heaven. Yes I know it's bad for you. BLah . :blah: So, I have been limiting myself to one in the morning. I don't drink coffee and so every morning I drink a Pepsi. Well, I thought to myself, I'll just drink half a glass with dinner and then refill it with water. THAT DIDN'T HAPPEN! I think I used to drink more calories than anything in a day. Anyway, back to water now. :(
Mouse: Why does this woman come to you about the stealing boyfriend thing? I wouldn't think it would really be of school concern if somebody stole another person's boyfriend? Just curious. Hope you and your TA have come to some sort of understanding. Congrats on the new partnership! :cp:
Hope everyone is feeling better. As you can probably tell since it's 9:43 on a Friday night I lead a very exciting life. Quiet is good sometimes.

We have what is allegedly known as a "team concept" in our school. We don't accept any students who aren't students with special needs, and so we have a core team that is responsible for paperwork (homeroom teacher/educational case manger, social worker/mental health therapist), then additional staff as necessary (occupational, physical therapists, the vocational education teachers (that's me!), assistive tech, vision, hearing, etc). So when something opportune happens, its supposed to go to the extended team, not just the core team. I teach in EVERY program in the building (we have 5: certificate, 2 severe behavioral, a self-contained diploma, and a rotating diploma), so I'm on lots of teams. I am also a case manager/homeroom teacher for the rotating diploma team. So, the therapist sent the email out to the whole team. And its an issue because she's made it an issue. Because many of our students are emotionally disturbed, small things tend to get bigger, but in this case, the therapist is making it bigger than it needs to be. I could see it being an issue with one of the girls, because she is more explosive, but the other two girls? No, really, not going to happen. Especially the one who's been dating her boyfriend since middle school. That's what I meant when I said that some of the people we've hired recently don't know what they're doing and act like they've never worked with kids before. I admit that there is a whole lot of stuff I don't know: I never worked with ED kids before I came to this school (BY CHOICE! I avoided it like the plague, and still wouldn't consider doing this in a public school system!). The closest I came was my classes of students who were dual-diagnosed, mentally ******ed and emotionally disturbed. But the MR diagnosis was primary. We have kids like that at our school now, but the primary disability is usually autism or emotional disturbance, and not the MR. That makes a huge difference, let me tell you!
AS for your Pepsi addiction: I can't drink Diet Pepsi because it has aspartame/NutraSweet in it, but the PepsiEdge with Splenda is really good. Doesn't taste very different at all. A 20 ounce bottle is only 125 calories. Its hard to find in 20 ounce, though I've seen it in many major chain stores in the 2-liter bottles and in 12 pack cans. I usually find the 20 ounce bottles at a discount store near my mom's house. I also think that Diet Rite tends to taste more like Pepsi than any of the other cola drinks. I grew up as the daughter of a Pepsi stockholder, and never really drank Coke. I can, honestly, and have, been able to tell the difference in a taste test. Coke tastes like flat Pepsi, its far sweeter. And, for my 18th birthday, my mother split some of her stock for me. So, now I have Pepsi stock as well.

Hello my friends............

WHAT A WEEK THAT WAS! Will spare you the stories.... Let's just say that I'm glad that it is behind me! :dizzy:

I hate Pepsi. :( (Sorry stockholder and IV users! ) I am a TRUE Coke gal. The original, UNmessed with formula for me! I also have "taken the taste test".... and announced what was WHAT and announced my preference and the Pepsi lady even gave me the rest of the can of Coke as my reward! :smug:

NOW that all said.... due to my addiction...and yes, I've been just moments from inserting the Coke IV needle myself.... I don't drink Coke any longer. Hi my name is Robyn and I'm a recovering Cokaholic... nope...nada... If I take a sip...then I want MORE... I can't say NO! So... the only soda that I ever allow in (that I like...I allow all kinds of junk in...I just don't like them...so hence I don't DRINK them! Dr. Pepper (gross), A&W (OHMYGAWD bleech!), etc....) So... the only soda that I every now and again...in the most emotional of my needy moments I drink... is the TRUE NECTAR OF THE GAWDS... Diet Code Red Mountain Dew! YaaaWHOOOOOO!:coffee::coffee::coffee:
Now THAT is a drink!

someone is at the door... I must run... I'm not even close to being done with all I wanted to say for the day! I'll be back!

take care...meeeee

Summerlover 02-05-2005 03:13 PM

Well this was a full week...but aren't they all?! I appreciate the encouragement and understanding from all of you. I know this sounds screwed up, but it seems my vanity has finally made me want to lose weight. Surprisingly, all the health risks haven't done it. Thinking about them depresses me which only makes me eat. No, that will not work. I cannot dwell on the cancer, heart disease, and diabetes risks. Then I feel hopeless and helpless...almost frozen where I stand.

My serious wake up call was putting myself in that other woman's place...wondering how her dd must have felt and if she told her mom...and what the mom's reaction was. How would I have handled it if it happened to my daughter?! Then of course the biggie was REALLY SEEING MYSELF in DD's full-length mirror. Yes, it is VANITY which is driving me to change things. Oh, and get a load of this! When I started my graduate class on Wednesday night, I could barely fit in the student desk! I had this desk pressing into my stomach. It was so uncomfortable. There was a bigger girl sitting nearby, and the desk was digging into her stomach. As I looked around the room, most people had inches between the desk and their stomachs. That was another motivator!

I guess it doesn't matter as long as it works! So, I have been great on South Beach. And, the biggest obstacle for me was returning to the gym. I went yesterday for one hour. I almost skipped it so many times, but I forced myself to walk in there. Luckily, there weren't any skinny sex goddesses wandering around the gym at the time. That would have done me in. I did my old workout and when I left, the endorphins had kicked in, and I felt like a million dollars! Yes, this will be doable.

My Wednesday night class is okay. The material is review. I had to stop myself from doing all the talking in class. I could easily teach the course. Wouldn't you think that graduate level would be harder? We have a lot of crap to do...articles to read and write about, units to write, and observations to write. This class is gonna end up being something I have to just do to get 3 credits. It doesn't look like I'm gonna learn much. But, we will see.

DD has strep throat, so I am stuck home for the weekend. No big deal. It will give me a chance to get stuff done.

Oh, get a load of this one! Yesterday was our 100th day of school. Well, since the first day, my kids have been counting up to the total days and to 100 by tens. It was an experiment to see if 4 year olds could count that high, and it worked. Well anyway, I planned estimation and counting activities as well as a party for yesterday. We made 100th day hats as well. When I was in the office photocopying the 100th day certificate, the principal saw it and said, "I was wondering if anyone besides you was gonna get a clue that today is the 100th day!" I laughed, handed her a certificate, and returned to my room. Seconds later she got on the loud speaker and said, "All kindergarten teachers please send a list of your 100th day activities to the office immediately." Knowing that not all the K classes celebrate the 100th day, I laughed nervously hoping that they wouldn't find out that I unintentionally brought the 100th day to the principal's attention. I'm already hated by a couple of them because of last month's cover article, and I really wanted to fly under the radar for a little while. Well, one of the teachers who doesn't teach the kids to count to 100 flipped and yelled at the principal that her kids shouldn't be expected to count that high. She came to me and vented about it, and I tried to just nod and play dumb. She told me her kids can only count to 7, which I find hard to believe because I got preschoolers to count to 100 with daily practice and the incentive of a big party when we got to 100. Well, after seeing my kids in the hallway with their 100th day hats on, I'm sure she figured out that I was probably the reason the principal wanted her class to participate. So, now she has another reason to hate me.

Why can't I just be a good teacher who does her best without having to endure dirty looks and daggers in my back?!

SCREW ALL OF THEM!!! I'M GONNA BE A GREAT TEACHER!!! I'M GONNA BE THIN AND BEAUTIFUL!!! I'M GONNA HAVE EVERYTHING I WANT, AND THEY CAN'T STOP ME!!!

pamisuzinc 02-05-2005 05:22 PM

 Hey guys!
Can't say that I'm in recovery, I will always be a Pepsi junkie! I'm just taking smaller doses now. My body has gone into shock on the number of minute occasions that I tried to quit cold turkey. Mouse, you should have made a TON of money off me with my Pepsi purchases. :D Unfortunately, my school is a coke school and so at times in my desperation i will purchase Coke. Can't say I'm too happy about it though. I've tried all the diet drinks and can't stand any of them. Yuck bluck  !

I am in a superdidooper good mood now. Although I was not this morning. I weighed this morning and was up like a pound and a half. Of course my husband who seems to be able to eat whatever and not gain like I do was down half a pound. The dog! However, I went shopping cause I needed a new pair of tennis shoes and while I was out decided just for kicks to try some smaller size clothes on. Well, I am able to fit into a size 18 pants now. I was 22. Now, I would not be ready to purchase size 18 becuase they are still a little snug, but I was so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also came home with a shirt that was size 16. It it still a wee bit snug on one button, but omigod!!!!To be perfectly honest I don't even think it's a really pretty shirt. But I have not been able even look at a 16 before. I tried one on that made my boobs look twelve times larger. I think it was just a little too clingy. I would've turned a cartwheel in the dressing room but there just wasn't enough room. I'm sure the woman in the stall next to me was wondering why I yelled out holy :censored: ! That was just such a good feeling.

Summer: You should use whatever motivation you need to lose weight. I personally am sick of paying more for clothes. Having no selection and never being able to find what I want when I go shopping cause most of the stores around here will have a huge selection of regular sized clothes and an area about the size of my kitchen for plus size. Plus, I just want to be able to buy some cute clothes before I'm too old to wear them! Strep throat. Yuck! You should be proud you are a great teacher! I do all sorts of things with my kids that the other teacher's won't do for one reason or another. The kids like activites. I believe that you should set your expectations high anyway. If they are mad at you. They should just build a bridge and get over it. That's what I say!

Ginny: Hope everyone is finally well at your house!
Have a great day!
:cb:

What a day.......but I am happy to read about everyone elses week.

Pam, you pepsiaholic! (sorry, I stand with Robyn and prefer coke) Congrats on the 16 shirt.....that must make you feel SO good!!!! I am happy for you.

Summer- you mean you did NOT teach them "1,2, skip a few, 99, 100!" -(tell your less inspired colleague to use that method). Congrats on a job well done......and for doing the right thing. Somehow I think (and I know that thinking can be dangerous) that one of a teachers goals ( or for the really good ones it is!) to inspire a student to reach higher than he/she thought possible. You did just that.......and have much to proud of....and double raspberries on that other moron who only counted to 7. BTW-whatever motivation works for you is good....you can do this!

Robyn- so you had a crummy week too??? Did you get a few days excercise in? I hope so. (sorry, I have to disagree with you on the Mountain Dew code red. Do you like vanilla coke?)

Mouse-you waking up at all?? I am so glad that you straightened things out with your TA. Good for you for approaching it rationally and being a peacemaker. I can't imagine having a running feud with someone like that, and having to work with them on a daily basis. Congrats on setting up the partnership. That must make you feel good! (what is with the crummy therapist).

Well, I can't imagine why....and will not bore you with the details, but the dishwasher, age 3 years is NOT repairable. Or it is...just it is cheaper to buy a new one. Somehow, halfway thru today, as I was running Ds to and from practice and Dh was home with the repairman, I got the feeling that the news would be bad. So, I was really not surprised.....more surprised that my out of no where hunch was right.
I still feel crummy- but a wee bit better than yesterday. Dd's urine culture came back negative, which is wonderful news. Now she and I are wheezing. Oh well, guess that is why I have the nebulizer in the house.
I went shopping to kill time during Ds's practice. Good news.....I tried on size 12 chino's and khaki's.....hoping that a 12 would fit. Oh, they fit. I just looked like crap in them- flabby, out of shape.....disgusting. Guess that is my wake up call. I did buy a sweater, spring purse and hat (after Dm's basal cell scare, her Dr told her that we should all be wearing hats and sunglasses outside- even though I have darker skin and brown hair/eyes). But I guess I should get off my fat can and get down to goal weight.......even though tonite I feel too crummy to care.
Better go. Dd wants to do a puzzle. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
Ginny

I pretty much slept all day again... until like 4:30. I have my annual appointment with my reproductive endocrinologist coming up soon. I expect a phone call from her any day now, since I had the ultrasound done last Wednesday, and on Tuesday the medical endocrinologist's secretary FINALLY sent her the blood results from the work in December. That has been the hold up: my reproductive endo wants to make sure there aren't anymore blood tests she needs before my annual physical. When I talk to her, I'll tell her about being tired. She already knows about my being cold all the time. But my thyroid tests are perfectly normal! I figure that right now its the increase in the spironolactone. The medication is a diuretic and typically used to lower blood pressure. That means it makes you run to the bathroom a lot... and it can also cause 'dry mouth'... you're supposed to watch for signs of dehydration, and we already know I don't drink enough as it is. The other side-effect of the medication is dizziness. In me, it manifests as being incredibly unfocused. I can't concentrate on much of anything, and that's bad in a classroom. So I take it at night. So, between the side-effects of fatigue and dizziness, and going to the bathroom at least once a night, that has to be the cause.
I'm glad your daughter's culture was negative and oh-so-sorry that the Coke drinkers don't know the true elixir of pleasure. ;)

pamisuzinc 02-05-2005 10:11 PM

Hi! Yes it's me the blabber mouth again!
Does anyone know of some really comfortable walking shoes? I had a pair of Nike Air Walk that were so smushy and comfortable. I looked everywhere today and could not find any. So, I ended up buying a pair of New Balance. We walked two miles tonight and they just didn't feel like there was enough cushion. Usually I enjoy my walk tonight all I could do was complain that these shoes weren't comfie! It stinks because it's not like I can take them back now! They felt fine in the store. Oh well.
Mouse: Does that medicine affect you in the day as far as having to go to the bathroom as well? Gosh that was a messed up sentence. All you English teachers need to forgive me as I teach cyphering! ;)
It's hard to feel bad and work. Many people don't understand that especially in teaching you have to smile and talk and comfort etc... when sometimes you just want to lay your head down. I hope you will feel better soon!
Ginny: Hope you and your daughter get well soon. I have been fortunate this year. Usually I catch anything within twenty miles. You may have to bite the bullet and get a new dishwasher. We had to get one last year it was actually pretty inexpensive.
Summer: Been meaning to ask you....What part of New England are you from? I lived in Vermont for a year. It's beautiful, but I was way to homesick.
See ya!
Pam

HatterasMermaid 02-06-2005 12:11 PM

............
My dh's job is being eliminated at NASA.
He is rather moody. THAT is an UNDERSTATEMENT.
He is VERY unhappy! With EVERYTHING and EVERYBODY.
Yesterday he spent the ENTIRE day in bed.
He is beginning today in the same vein.
There is something wrong with the computer.
I can't get him to look at it.

I'll be back later...gotta clean.
When he is in a mood, I've got to be cleaning!

take care.

ECmom 02-06-2005 06:41 PM

Boy what a weekend.

Mouse- do you have a date for your appt with the reproductive endocrinologist? Sounds as though you have your symptoms figured out- but gee, it must not be easy for you. And I totally agree with Pam, when dealing with students, it is expected that no matter how crummy you feel all must be apple red happiness.....smiles etc. Hang in there!!!!

Pam- I wear Nike's and am not totally thrilled with them. Used to wear some wonderful Reeboks, of course they discontinued them. So I am no help at all. Guess for now you will have to invest in walking socks that really cushion. Yes, they do make them.

Robyn- I feel so bad for you. How much longer does Dh have of employment?
We went thru something like that several years ago. it was pure torture. Vent here, and hang in there. Dh will need you for support. Give him a few days for the shock to set in....and reality take hold. Maybe his outlook will improve. Most people when faced with this come out much stronger and happier. It is just getting thru the unknown that hurts.
Gotta go watch Stupor bowl with Dh.
See ya
Ginny

pamisuzinc 02-06-2005 06:55 PM

Hey everybody!
Sort of mellow day today! Just realized I haven't written any lesson plans for tomorrow. So that's a bummer. But other than that, not too bad.
Ginny: Thanks for the info on the socks. I didn't know they made them. It just stinks that I paid all that money for the new balances that felt great walking around the store and then felt yucky during the actual walk. I loved my nike air walks. I may have to keep wearing them anyway til I break these in. I put a Dr.Scholls cushion in them which made them too tight. So, I don't know.
Robyn: Sorry to hear about your dh job. Thats awful. Was it something that was being talked about for a while or was it a sudden thing? I'll say a prayer for you.
Hope everyone has a wonderful Monday! Paisley????????/where r u???
Pam

Saw this on one of the other threads and thought it was a really cool quote!

Though no one can go back and make a new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new end.

Summerlover 02-06-2005 09:07 PM

Robyn, how awful about your dh's job. I can understand his reaction...wanting to hide from the world when it feels like it is crashing down around him. Hopefully he will come out and realize even though this is a horrible situation, it is an opportunity for him to make a change. Teachers are used to change. Like it or not, we get moved from grade to grade or school to school without any say. For me, being moved ended up being a blessing. For you, switching schools was a blessing. I will pray that he will find a job that makes him feel blessed.

Pam, my favorite shoes ever were Avia. I haven't been able to find a pair for wide feet (another result of my pregnancy) in a long time, so I've been wearing Nike or New Balance. I'm not nuts about New Balance either. I wore them in Disneyworld and developed KING SIZED blisters. I'm currently in search for a comfortable sneaker as well. If I can find my Avias again, I will be sooooo happy. I live in Connecticut about an hour outside Manhattan. I would prefer to live in a tiny town on Cape Cod, but teaching jobs are few and far between. So, it looks like the Cape will have to wait until retirement unless I win the Publisher's Clearing House Sweepstakes!

Ginny, size 12?! WOW!!! I would give my eye teeth to wear a 12 again... even if I looked flabby...better to look flabby in a 12 than look flabby in a 20!!! Take care of that asthma. Have you asthma-proofed your house? It is so much work. We still have some carpet to pull up and floors to sand and refinish. We did DD's bedroom and playroom first. My bedroom is next. We encased the mattresses and pillows and have air purifiers upstairs and downstairs. We even got a humidifier that is germ-free with a thermometer that also tells us if it is too humid which promotes mold growth. You probably have done it all and more if you have a nebulizer in your house. I hope both you and DD feel better soon. Re: dishwasher...do you have a Sears nearby? Well, we have a Sears outlet about 45 minutes away. It has major appliances that have a little scratch or ding on them for a lot cheaper than regularly priced items. The catch is you have to rent your own truck. That is how we got our refrigerator, washer, and dryer. We saved hundreds of dollars on each item.

Mouse, I sure hope your doctor gets to the bottom of all of it. You shouldn't have to live like this.

Well, DD is 100% better. Amoxicillin is a miracle drug...as long as you aren't allergic to it. Yesterday, she looked like she was at death's door. Even the nurse at the doctor's office said, "I can tell she has strep without looking at her throat or doing a culture." The doctor made a similar comment. The culture showed a positive for strep before the time was up. So yesterday she was sick with fever, awful pain from strep, not able to swallow, sore legs, miserable. Today, she was energetic, eating everything in sight, and played all day long.

My aide called out sick for tomorrow early this afternoon. So, I already know tomorrow will suck. Monday is the worst day for her to be out. There are certain things I need to prepare for on Monday, and I need her to do a lot of it. Too bad for me. The next question will be, "What happens to her next?" Supposedly she was going to be suspended if she missed another day. How much you want to bet she'll get away with it?!

Time for me to hit the hay. I need to pray and get myself in the right frame of mind. Right now I feel very negative. Time to put it in perspective.

HAVE A GREAT WEEK ONE AND ALL. I will try not to go AWOL.

Anonymouse 02-06-2005 09:15 PM

Yikes, Robyn! That really sucks. I have friends who work for NASA as well as some parents of some of my students (down in Prince George's County, MD), and of course, Johns Hopkins is heavily involved with the Applied Physics Lab. In fact, one of my students is supposed to start a job shadow doing something involving the Hubble.
I hope there are other job prospects!!!!!
Pam: I really like Tretorn shoes. I wear those at the gym when I go upstairs to lift weights. I also really like the Propet brand, and they do make several varieties of walking shoe. Propet is online... just do a search for their name. I have a pair of EasySpirit sneakers/nurse shoes I wear to work nearly daily (I'm supposed to wear the Propet I have with the orthotics, but they're high laced shoes and they are a pain to deal with at the gym and when I get home. I absolutely HATE wearing my shoes into the apartment, but I have to with the high laced ones). I'm a cheapskate, and these shoes are all within my budget (of course, my mom lives near a huge shoe outlet store that is fantastic about special orders and modifications!).
As for the meds, they don't affect me during the day because I don't drink very much. I try very hard to limit my drinking until my first prep period at 11:30. I'm pretty safe after that because I have 8th period as a planning as well, and then its just homeroom. But I pay for it when I get home or go to the gym, because then I'm thirsty! On days that I have drunk a lot, then yes... and tomorrow will be torture because my TA isn't going to be here, so that means NO chance to run to the bathroom.
Ginny: No, I don't have an appointment yet because she wanted to see if the other endocrinologist had done all the bloodwork that she wanted to have done. If so, then I don't need to have anymore done and we can schedule the appointment. If not, I have to get the script for whatever else she wants done, and get it done, then when she gets the results we can schedule. Its also hard, because she only does GYN stuff on M/T/W afternoons, and I'm typically pretty uncomfortable the next day. So I wind up with a day and a half off (I'll leave early for the appointment, and stay out the next day). Last year, she was able to schedule me for a Thursday afternoon, but I'm not sure if she can be that flexible this year. I'm going to hope. And of course, the ultrasound was postponed because my supervisor wouldn't let me take off the day of the reinforcer/fun-day.
I'm also still waiting to see what I'm going to have to do for my grad class this semester. One of our administrators is the instructor, and I'm the only student signed up for the class, so we agreed to meet at school... saves both of us the semester parking fee for the main campus. But she hasn't set a date or time yet.
Good news is I got to the gym today. I managed to motivate myself a bit more by buying the new John Grisham book on unabridged CD. And I have to finish it quickly becuase I'm promised it to my mother when I'm done.
