Hi everyone,
hope everyone had a great weekend. We woke up to about 3 inches of snow this morning. It's still spiting a little out there. It is pretty. Went out to shovel and slipped on some ice and wiped out. Didnt break anything, but I'm a little on the stiff side.
Well I got t aphone call a couple days ago from a bar owner I know and he wants me to come to work for him. I told him I would think about it. I talked it over with husby and it's up to me, but I look at how much better my artheritis is and my overall view of life in general. So I didn't want to go back to the cooking and I'm not. My husband really likes getting spoiled when he gets home. I have a couple of cleaning jobs that can hold me through till something comes up.
I finally hit onederland ladies. It's been a long time and it sure feels great.
Well enough about me now, how is everyone else? By the way congrats on the winnings CJ.
Talk to you all later
deb

Good morning!

Just having my morning coffee then going to get dressed ... hubby and I have some errands to run then we're going out to lunch and one of our favorite restaurants ... then, we're going to spend some of my winnings and buy some more knotty pine paneling for the cabin.

Deb:
Hope you are feeling better after that fall .. so glad there were no broken bones! We've had snow here for the last month .. it's snowing again this morning ... I think it's here to stay for the winter! I don't care - I love it. I have to say I'm spoiled tho - hubby does the snow plowing. Good job on getting into "onederland"!!!!!

I went into my hot tub last nite .. sure felt wonderful! It's just a bit of a "challenge" to get from the door to the tub (tub is on our deck) but once I get in .... ooooooooooooh it's like heaven!

Well ... not much to report ... got a little off track with my lo-carbs since Thanksgiving and so am getting back OP slowly, but surely. As long as we keep trying we will get to where we want to be eventually.

Have a great day everyone!

Love, CJ

Hello Ladies!

I hope you are all doing well. I'm sorry for not posting lately....I've been through some emotional stuff. To make a long story short, my husband just found out he has a 15 year old daughter (this was before we got together and he didn't know about her). I'm not going to lie....it's hard and upsetting. I can just imagine what that poor girl is going through. The only good thing that has come out of all this emotional weekend is that I'm not hungry. I think I've had a total of 1000 calories(combined) since Sunday. I do make sure that Nico is fed and I try to contain my emotions around him. But ladies, this is so hard on me. I know that it was before my but, why now. I guess I'm most upset at this girls mother.

Nico is up...gotta run. Will post more.

Hugs to all!

Sylvia

good morning,
wow sylvia, what a bombshell to get thrown at you. Only hear stuff like that on Maury. It really does have to to weigh you down a bit. Have either of you met her yet? That is very unfair of the mother, the poor girl at 15 (a hard age anyway) just
learning who her father is. I imagine there is alot to this story. Everything will work itself out hopefully.
CJ
Hope you had a great lunch, I love the snow too, but usually husby is laid off by this time so I don't have to shovel. Well it is very good exercise, and it's like" I don't have the time now." I will just have to wtch out for the ice. I told my husband I need one of them rubber sumo wrestling costumes, as clumsy as I am.
Well I am taking a friend to Duluth today to shop. At least it is supposed to be a nice day today, Duluth can get real nasty in the winter being on Lake Superior.
Been doing great on op this week so far, we'll see what today brings for lunch. I am doing low carb so it should be easy.
Take care ya all
Hey shaun where are you?

aivlys 12-08-2004 01:29 PM

Howdy!

Well I did something that I've never done. I told my husband how much I weigh. I know it sounds dumb but I've never told him my weight. So now, we've made a commitment to each other to lose weight. We'll see if this works. I finally got my appetite back and had some pasta...mind you it was out of one of Nico's baby bowls. I'm also dealing with all this emotional stuff as well. I just take it one day at a time.

Deb- My husband met her last week. He said it was very emotional for everyone involved (to say the least). Funny you mention Maury...my husband watches that all the time. I never in a million years would have thought this would happen to me. I feel like I'm stuck in the Twilight Zone. Have fun shopping!

CJ- I know you are doing those buttershots in the hot tub!!! I can see you!

Hugs to all!

CJ 12-08-2004 03:21 PM

Good afternoon - just popping in to say a quick hello as I am doing my bill pymts online (didn't get it done yesterday)!

Slyvia:
Oh my gosh! What a shocker! Tell me, how did this come about .. did the mother just up and decide to tell hubby that he has a daughter? I'm just curious as to how it came about. Did he know the girl at all before he found out? Did the mother just pop up out of the blue with this info? I'm sure this is such a shock but it will probably all work out eventually. Wow - I don't need to watch my soap operas - I'll just come on here! This could turn out to be a good thing Slyvia ... a big sister for Nico ... Keep us informed. Hope all works out well. It was a really brave and good thing you did for letting hubby know your weight! That would be good for you to help each other. Yes, I was in the hot tub but with no butter shots! lol ... that hot tub is heaven in this weather - it is just a bit of a "challenge" to get into it since it is not enclosed.

Deb:
Hope you enjoy your lunch with your friend and I'm sure you will do just fine with the lo-carb choices.

Shaun:
Yes, where are you? I hope we didn't scare you off with the BRATS! ... We call every one a brat when they start the new thread ... but we say it with affection ... not to be mean. Come back, come back - wherever you are! We miss you!

OK ... off to finish my bills ... I WILL get them done today!

Talk to ya all soon ..
Love, CJ

Oh Sylvia, I really feel for you. We had a similar situation several years ago in our family. Dear BIL had an illegitimate child that he did not tell his new family about.

He eventually got a divorce from his wife (the second family) and she moved away. As it turned out, the first family moved as well and ended up living across the street from the second family. We knew both of them, but tried to stay out of the whole thing...until our son was playing hockey with the grandson of the first one's mother (families are hard to follow). The grandmother came up to my hubby and introduced herself again and told him where she and her daughter (the one that had the child), and the child were living. OMG, we knew it was across the street from the other family.

DH called his brother in a different city and told him what he had found out. Suffice it to say, the BIL came to let both families know about each other and introduce his kids to each other before the one family recognized the last name of the kids living across the street. The result of this whole tale is that those kids are all best friends now. One of the children was almost killed in a car accident a few years ago and it was her step-sister that sat with her most of the time at the hospital. They have been a great support for each other through a lot of trying times.

I know these times are tough, but you will get through them. Keep focused and try to make good decisions that are not emotion based. You will get through this and it may work out even better than you possibly could imagine right now. Remember to stay OP, it will keep you feeling more healthy through this, too. Sending my love.

Hello Ladies!

You are so wonderful!:grouphug: You have no idea what your kind words and support means to me. I'm just taking it one day at a time. This girl wants to meet Nico...I'm very against it. She just broke up with her boyfriend because he was in a gang and her two best friends are both pregnant. Yeah, that the kind of role model I want for my son. I'm also selfish...I don't want to share my husband with anyone else. We went through so much to have our son and I don't want him to have to share his Daddy. ( I hope that makes sense). I don't know. I think I'm going to need a lot of time. The positive is that she doesn't want any money from my husband. She also mentioned that she is nervous about sharing her daughter with anyone else. That comforted me knowing that she is feeling nervous and stressed is a relief to me. Time will tell.

aivlys 12-09-2004 12:28 PM

Howdy!

I'm popping in for a quick hello. I wanted to share this funny that a friend e-mailed me. Of course these tips aren't ones I would recommend but they are funny!

Have a great day!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Holiday Eating Tips

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table
knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave
immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. Like fine single-malt
scotch, it's rare. In fact, it's even rarer than single-malt scotch. You
can't find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that
it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn
into an eggnog-aholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for
me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy.
Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed
potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or
whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car
with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control
your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other
people's food for free. Lots of it. Hellooo . . .?!

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's.
You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the
time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table
while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like
frosted Christmas cookies in the shape and size of Santa, position
yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before
becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes.
If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple. Pumpkin. Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or, if
you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always have
three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory
celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some
standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or
get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Reread the tips
and start over; but hurry, January is just around the corner.

Sylvia - love the tips.

sweet tooth 12-10-2004 12:13 PM

I'm back. I had to send the eating tips around to friends. I like the one about the Christmas cake...DH hates Christmas cake so will like that one.

This morning was 'going out for breakfast' morning, so that was a bit of a treat after the work being done at home. We worked on the flooring again last night and hope to finish the first half tonight. DH will work on it tomorrow again and hope to get the rest finished tomorrow. I have some handrails that need to be refinished, so my job tomorrow is to work on them. Hopefully, DS's girlfriend will come over and help, but the last 2 times that she has offered, she has shown up at dinnertime, eaten, then left. :dizzy: However, tomorrow she wants us to pick up a new fridge for her and knows that we won't go do it if our work is behind. Hopefully, that will be enough motivation for her.

So other than the flooring and handrails, not much going on this weekend - bath the puppies and take their Christmas pics, sing in the cantata at church on Sunday, pick up the fridge for DS and girlfriend, pick up a hide-a-bed that I bought, open house at one of DH's staff member's homes, dinner at DS's house. I think that about does it...laundry will just have to wait and people around my suffer.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. Take care.
