suzi in auz 12-29-2004 05:31 PM

Good morning Chickies, It's the eve before New Years Eve here! Wow another year gone.
Linus: I see your little light is glowing, and it says you are not here.if so HI!
I love waking up and being able to see all the new posts for the day. You all have been so busy.
Holly Your hockey looks fun. I always watch Ice hockey and cringe. It looks painful, lots of bruising on that ice I bet, but Fun to boot. You are such an angel looking after your friends kiddies.
Mel I hope you were able to go for your walk and blew away some cobwebs.
did the camera get used? If so post post post. it makes me feel closer to you all seeing a little of your worlds.
I'm typing here and we are well in holiday mode. i must get organised though because MIL is coming today. She's a sweety and I love having her over, she only comes for a few days as she is a caregiver for my SIL who is in a wheelchair. SIL is 35 very beautiful and very smart but not able to care for herself. MIL gets spoilt while she is here and also gets to see the grandkids on her own which she loves. We are off to the city to see the fireworks. They say they are doing the Sydney harbour bridge up like a Disco ball. We went last year and the fireworks were incredible.
Well, I have sheets to wash and a house to get in order...must get the day going...thoughts going out to all of you

Suzi

Hockey

Hi Holly, I am a goalie's mom......my son who turned 21 today was the goalie for our little town high school team.... our history was so great...Disney couldn't have written a better script....he plays club hockey for Boise State and is an incredible goalie.... so I am here if you have any questions.... my oldest plays also. I never would have believed I would be a hockey fan....
The smell of the bags is so familiar when they come home to play on home ice... that I don't miss at all.... it has its own aroma. Not a pretty as Mel's new sprays.....LOL
Hope everyone is well..... we have a new year to tackle.....
Peace,
Nae

Hollyhock 12-29-2004 08:28 PM

Nae~ that is so cool!! I am not a sporty kind of gal at all. But it sure is exciting when it is your own little man out there. All the kids on the team are classmates. Our community, including all the farms, is about 900 people.Very close knit.
I dont love the schlepping of the bags and getting him dressed. DH is better at it and enjoys it. DH comes from a real hockey family. He and 2 bros all played. One still plays and coaches. We have 3 nephews in AAA.
I mostly love what it does for my sons self esteem. He can be anxious but when he is in a groove with something he loves he excells. He also has a LOT of energy to burn.
This is his first year (age 6) but most of the kids have played for 2 years already.
Listen to me go on!! LOL!
Thanks for the interest.
I would love to hear more about your sons.

Hi Suzi!!!! Your plans sound wonderful!! They show the Sydney fireworks on TV here in Canada!! I think they are supposed to be the best in the world.
I haven't seen the news much for months but have tried to see it the last few days. The tragedy is hard to get your head around.
Sometimes I wonder if our earth is fed up with all the abuse and is fighting back.

Hugs Linus!! Good for you!!! Keep on going!

candlelady4 12-29-2004 08:28 PM

Just checked in on you all and seems like everybody has had a wonderful day.

Linus see you are doing so much better, talking to friends is miracle medicine. I spent 2 hrs. talking to a dear friend of mine that lives in Kansas now and I vented everything that has been bothering me since the last time we spoke and now I feel so much better. She was the best friend of my deceased Sis, so I feel particularly close to her.

Mel your smellies sounds scrumtous, I am out of good smellums need to make a trip to the store. ;)

suzi enjoy your mil.

Holly thanks for the pic, I am sure son is excited about training to be the goalie, quite a honor.

Oh Rose our kiddies grow up too fast, I try not to think about it or it makes me feel old. :(

Hi Shad

Tig yes we did get some snow last week, it was nice just didn't last long enough for me. Hubby left again Sun. to go hunting and I haven't talked to him, he was hoping to get a hog for meat. He went with Grandson 14, good for them to spend some quality time together.

I did pretty good today on my eating, trying the low carb thingy again. I have got to make myself drink more water. ;)

It is so hard to imagine the destruction of property and lives there, my heart breaks for those poor people. Mother nature can be very cruel. :(

Have a good evening or good day which ever is the case, I am off to go watch a little tv then crash. See you all tomorrow.

Meadow 12-30-2004 03:27 AM

I wish I had a personal trainer, someone to whip me into shape. Not a shouter one but one of those you can do it types, one more, try! LOL

Linus-you can kick those ciggies to the curb, well done for not reaching for them today. I'm sorry for all the trauma that caused your brief lapse of resolve. A new year dawns on the horizon, you can do it!

Mel-I admire your determination to get that weight shifted. Always learning new things is the best way to approach this stuff. There are so many reasons that the extra hangs around, good to find a different view to try and shake things up a bit. Good energy, I hope it clicks for you.

Shad-what a shame that you have to work between Christmas and the New Year. I guess being the new gal you don't have any time banked. At least you aren't being too distracted by it. I can smell your barbecue all the way over here. You will be experiencing the New year long before me, I toast you!

Holly-What a busy little bee you are. Two extra kids and a birthday party. However do you stay sane? I have eaten cookies, chocolate and salt for over a week now, sigh. Congratulations on only having the two day slip, how did the pounds pan out? Just a whee blip or an ouch!

Diane-drinking the water does seem to shake the metabolism and flush things. I will be chugging along with you in the new year, so far I am just inbibing lots of tea along with my cookies and other non-positive fair. Home made biscotti, come on, I am a foodaholic, it calls to me :p

Suzi-how lucky that your MIL is a good one. Mine is decent but I wouldn't want her to come to stay. I can't take the pressure. Very kind of you to wash the sheets before she arrives.

Rose-Ew! Smelly hockey gear. Big hug for your baby boy on his birthday!

Tig-yummy, grapefruit. I remember being in Florida and the sweet taste of the ones that get to ripen on the tree. OMG! nervana Can't get any such thing up here. All the grapefruit are picked before they get ripe and don't have anywhere near that Florida goodness. Slurp, I'm drooling.

Teel-where are you? Have I missed a post? Not like you to be scarce, must be busy, busy, busy.

Shad 12-30-2004 05:30 AM

And the countdown is on. In just over 28 hours from now it will be 2005. Ye gods what ever happened to 2004, it still feels like May or June.

Interestingly my mail box today had a couple of envelopes from the States. One from Illinois and one from Melbourne Florida. Thank you ladies. Might have taken a while to get here but was well worth the wait.

Still relatively cool and windy here, not that I am complaining mind you. It's better than the alternatively which is hot and sticky.

Went to the gym this morning. I was actually cold when I got there but that soon wore off. Back to weights and today I got through the five reps of 10 for the 5 different machines. Yikes that means I did 50 sit ups. Strewth ruth - how did I manage that. I just wish that the flab would disappear and display all those lovely muscles I can feel underneath. Yeah well, thats not going to happen in a hurry.

I've just realised it's weigh and measure tomorrow. Can't say that I feel that good about that. But it will be done. We'll see how much damage Christmas has done.

Boy, I am pooped. This working alone wears me out. I had to translate some Chinese-English into proper English (UK) variety today. There were times when I was second guessing as to what she actually meant, and given that it was Finance I was doing, it was interesting to say the least!! Tomorrow I look forward to Greek/English Project Systems. Now that could really be exciting since my PS knowledge is minimal. What a challenge for the last day of the year.

DS1 wandered off to Caloundra today to the Air Museum. DS2 lent him his new car because he at least realised that DS1 would not get back before I finished work. Well done DS2, since I had been home more than an hour when DS1 roared in the drive.

I really should go and get stuck into some housework. But I really, really don't feel like it. May have to just stack the dishes and get to them tomorrow.

Food was fairly good today, except that I took to the prosciutto and cheese when I got home. It's all gone now. There is no more so I won't be tempted anymore for quite some time.

Holly - so glad you managed to understand the hastily thrown together instructions. I did forget to tell you that you can't upload the same picture twice in the threads. You have to change the name first I just put an a or a 1 behind it. In the journals you can just change the name and carry on. The picture looks great. I have a friend here (the one with kangaroos in the yard) whose son plays goalie in a local ice hockey team. I have seen photos of Liam in much the same position. I always have him on about lying down on the job.

Suzi - enjoy the fireworks. Sydney always knows how to put on a good party. We have a 45 minute River fireworks display on Southbank to which have the world it seems will congregate tomorrow night. This little black duck will not be among them. DS1 is going to a party - DS2 is doing I know not what and I intend to try and sleep.

Tig - well done on the running. I have a session on the treadmill tomorrow. I should have a go at outside, but I know that I will give in and walk more than run. So stupid really - it is much more interesting running outside.

Linus, just take one step at a time. Take it easy - that back of yours is fragile.

Meadow, should we try to get AB as your personal trainer? Do you think you might do the right thing if he was being Sam the Sadist like I have or worse Jason the torturer. I don't have a PT as such but I have one that I can go to when I need to change or a challenge or assessment. It costs but hey - only money.

Rose I know the feeling about the kids growing up, my DS2 is 29 next week. DS1 gets to be 31 in March. Yikes where has the time gone. Still all that pain, lack of sleep, worry, fear, etc was worth it. Look at what we have to leave the world. Richer that is for sure.

Okay, I am off. The news out of Asia gets worse and worse. I have nothing to worry about compared to the devastation of those peoples lives. I am indeed blessed.

Hello to all not mentioned above. Out of print does not mean out of mind.

Hollyhock 12-30-2004 09:10 AM

Morning Ladies!!!
I had a great sleep!!!!
I weighed in last night and I was up 2. Not bad considering it was Christmas. I also ate chinese for dinner on Tues and lunch yesterday.
My starting weight last Jan was 243 and my official final weigh in of the year was 232. That is 11 lbs in the right direction.
I am thankful and proud. It sure beats the upward trend of the last 6 years!!!!
The kids are going for a playdate at 11am and then DS is going for pizza and a sleepover at another friends.
I will plunk them in the tub shortly. They are grubby little creatures right now!
I will have a few hours to myself.
I want to wash the kitchen floor and then vucuum the whole downstairs.I cleared away all the piles of things yesterday. I may dust too. BUT I want to relax, maybe in the tub or just close my eyes and listen to music for a while too.

Nae~I looked up Idaho last night. For some reason I knew nothing about it. I think your climate and terrain would be similar to Alberta in Canada.Beautiful anyhow.

I was 33 and 35 when I had my two angels. I will be 54 when DS is 21.Hard to comprend. When my Mom was my current age, I was 19.We partied together at her 40th bday party.Youch!! ( and at her 50th and 60th LOL!)

I am also thankful for all the blessings of my family life and my children and husband.

Meadow~ I love the busy-ness of my life when it is on my terms.I have made a lot of changes this year in what I spend my time on.I had a lot of trouble letting go of past friendships and activites to make room for the new.It has been wonderful the last while.

Shad~ hope you are resting peacefully!

Have a glorious day!!!

MELODY525 12-30-2004 11:05 AM

 Good morning chicks
almost 11 and haven't done a damn thing but shower and run the office! I won't bore you with the details but 2 emergency type things and the place fell apart. Anyone shocked? Didn't think so. In my jammies I set it right and came back upstairs! all without even screaming!! I am learing!! Everyone is calm and the tenants went off to the store without me. Just didn't feel up to it. Jen got me some stuff last night. so all is well in my corner of the world thank God and the office is closed for 4 days!!! YIPPEE!!!!

Nae and Holly~ Two hockey moms!!! How great on one forum!! Bet you guys will and have seen a lot of laundry and bruises! I will lend my new Scents to each of you when needed!

Meadow~ I never made it out yesterday. Glands still swollen and too much wind here. But Saturday looks VERY promising!! I wish I could be your trainer but I yell a lot! i was just thinking what a great trainer I would be if I could just stop screaming! Thanks for the comment. I am looking forward to Discovery's Challenge. I use these things as motivation and God knows I need it!

Linus~ Keeping you in my thoughts and sending as many good ones as I can spare! LOL
Hang in there. YOU CAN AND WILL DO THIS!!!! Just don't hold any sharp instruments in your hands or baseball bats for awhile! (((((((HUGS)))))))

Diane~ You just reminded me I haven't had anything to drink yet!!! :yikes: I am doing a low carb low fat low salt low every-thing. Good luck to us both!!!

Shad~ What can I say that I have not already said!!! I had a speed dream last night! Think it may be from the karts! I was really tearing up the road. god knows where I was going!!! Hope work keeps right on taxing your brain and keeps you busy!! this is your year I feel and have said it before!! Watch out World cause here comes Miss Shad. A Gal to be reckoned with!!

My thoughts on the tragedies are too great to express. I can barely type while I think of them all. Over 114,000. I know we are all thinking of them and I hope that prayers can help. It all just seems so futile though. God help them. there were more warnings and I cannot imagine it happening again. They must all be terrified. I will try and be grateful for all that I have today and keep my *****iness level down!
Hope you all have a good day and stay well. You are all my treasures.

MELODY525 12-30-2004 04:05 PM

I just received Holly's card and beautiful picture and realized that I have forgotten to say thank you for all the other beautiful cards and pics!!! I am a bad girl to have forgotten all about them. Thanks ever so much for adding to my little "family" shelf!! I am going to buy frames and decorate them and when I am finished I'll photo them! LOL and post them here! OK gotta go an Hoover some more!

linus 12-30-2004 04:36 PM

HAVE a word of advice from someone who now knows NEVER NEVER GO SHOPPING WHILE YOU ARE IN PAIN you spend way too much money !!!!!!!DS1 decieded that today was the day he needed to get his beloved hair cut and buy his new trainers and tomorrow just wouldnt do so me with a very pained expression on my face said ok sweetpea {i know craig gringes when i call him that im sure thats why i do it} i woke up this morning feeling dreadful my throat hurts and my ribs feel like someone has kicked me :( and my back had that low dull toothachey feeling but the bills needed to be paid and of course me being pig headed cause dh said that he didnt think i was up to it so i went
as i waited on criag getting his hair cut i wnt into a shop that i love shopping in because they do BIG sizes and bought a cream chiffon top and matching skirt and a black chiffon top and a pair of black trousers with a beaded belt and short boot slits at the sides and a four piecec suit with a black jacket red print skirt ,blouse, and scarf and i only spent £69.95 so i went to woolies and spent 12.on a measuring jug and a letter rack and a pack of wooden coathangers for mr clothes horse{craig} :dizzy: so the moral is either listen to the person who only has your best interest at heart and dont go
i wont be able to upload any of my xmas photos becuase i lent my digital camera to my brother-in-law in october and never thought of checking it and i took loads of photos i mean my camera holds 199 pics and i think there was only about 50 left so i really do mean loads went to uload them to the pc and lo and behold ITS BLOODY BROKEN     :judge: :bomb: and that means for the first time since craig was born i have no xmas photos and i am royally pi***d off and i wont miss him the next time he turns up here and i feel like such an idiot because i normally take sets with both the digi and the normal one and this time i didnt so ill get some done on the normal camera and just scan them in
MEL i am just so desperate to move house so i can have a bath again i really miss a good soak and i miss my lavender bubbles its not the same as shower gel at all
SHAD chinese?????? god youve got brains do you fancy being our prime minister cause the one weve got isnt too good with english never mind anything else ???? good luck with the greek
TIG i got your xmas card this morning my postie {nosy old beggar}asked idf id be expecting anymore overseas cards or letters ? so i told him "i dont know it all depends how many more lifers i can find to write to in foreign prisons" craig said im bad for winding him up but i wasnt feeling to good and he woke me up thanks so much its up on top of the tank with mel, shads, sheilas and yours
HOLLYHOCK when my criag is 18 i will be 36 and the way my back is boy am i glad i had my boys early or now i wouldnt be allowed to carry any more kids so its good i rather like the ones ive got !!!!!!!
MEADOW ill lend you my pesonal trainer she never shouts well she is a dog !!!!!and every time you sit down she comes and harrases you till you get up again ask teel she has had to put up with her barking down the phone many a time so she can play and unlike shada she will work for toffees{or chewing gum}
ROSE my kids sports dont involve them getting dirty craigs is skirt chasing and conners involves throwing discs into the games console glad you enjoyed the visit
HAPPY i know you wont get this for some time but still thinking of you at this time
SUZI i cant change the beds cause i cant bend down so that also means that i cant put them in the washer this dodgy back has some perks
C-LADY have you put them kiddies down yet i cant wait to have grandkids actually i can wait and will wait for some time i hope!! my kid are only 12 and 15 and they are still causing me too much problems for me to enjoy there offspring yet maybe i should adopt some grandkids for a while ????
right ladies im off as my throats really sore and my ribs hurt so bad and ill speak to you all later
kirsty

Tig 12-30-2004 06:30 PM

Hurting Ribs

MY ribs hurt from reading linus's post!

I'll have to make a point to send you a card every time I travel to a different state in the US to keep your reputation up!

Shad 12-31-2004 04:25 AM

Not a happy Shad

If I have another weigh in like this weigh in, I'll send linus cards from the funny farm.

Here's the local disaster!
Weights follow. The trend is up and that ceases as from today.

I really don’t understand it after all the exercise I put in. However, it is probably something I have put in my mouth - face it Shad - lots of somethings you have put in your mouth. It just wont do.

4 days at the gym this week. 50 mins gym on the treadmill today. 6.7K and 475cal. So where is the weight coming from?

Enough of the doom, gloom and depression I am feeling.

The Chineselish lessons continued until lunchtime. It's very interesting the way that they mix past, present and future tenses and use words that have you wondering if they are leaving or what ever. Still I should not complain. I can't speak more than a word or two of their language much less write the darn stuff. Today's Greeklish was just as interesting for a many different reasons. Most European languages seem to put the description in front of the personal. As in "It's a train that I am going on - rather than I am going on the train. The French of course have a problem with accepting the responsibility - in their case, the train lacks them, they did not miss the train.
Anyway, no doubt I will work it out in the end. Give 'em a taste of Kiwi, I say. As in - oi Angelo, wotcha yakking about in this doco? Speak English - you are??? oh well maybe I am just not listening in English.

So we are on the run down to 2005. Mel thinks it may be my year. Who knows, if someone can spare some energy, I'd be grateful. There isn't much left in the tank today.

Lets see if I can find something that moves and grooves to bring in the year.

There ya go then. Have a great one. If I can stay awake long enough, I'll start the ball rolling on the round the world new year. We can party for near enough 45 hours till Meadow being the last pipes in the New Year.

MELODY525 12-31-2004 11:29 AM

Thank you Miss Shad for the lovely NY pics!! Great way to start off the morning! I don't THINKL this is your year....I KNOW IT! there is a HUGE difference. don't ask me why but I have the feeling each time we talk. some say that the Pisces sign is the oldest in astrology and the culmination of all the others. Let us hope they and I am RIGHT! I think your year was a great on considering the ups and especially the downs. Stress was at the head of the list and even when you were in Melbourne!
Maybe now at home and steady, you can sort the other stuff out! ((((((HUGS))))) my dearest Little Sister!

linus~ You should go on the stage as a comedienne!!! I have no words to describe how your sense of humor is hysterically funny to me!! Better than my Brit Coms!!!
I hope your aches and pains wear themselves right out of your body!!! Take good care of yourself! would that we could wish for an new year of painless flexibility! :lol3: :lol3:

Miss Tig~ It was lovely to hear from you:cb: I am having the strangest cravings for grapefruit and marmalade!  I may just have to go out and buy some on Tuesday!!!
give the FIL my address!!! We can't grow grapefruits in the frozen North!!! :lol3: :lol3:
I am still laughing about them. I can just see you handing them out at the next marathon!!!! Now that's even better than t-shirts!!! What a Floridian Concept!!! Happy eating!!

I must get on with the day here. It's almost noon and haven't done a damn thing but type and answer the doorbell. these folks get a bit antsy when the office is closed for 3 days and some of them just want to make sure Mel is really here! Like WHERE TF would I BE?????!!!!!! (sigh) Before we run out of hot water I best get into the shower!!! A new holding tank is on order but won't be here for a few days! In the meantime we have men coming to mop up the floor in that room every few hours! :yikes: I just checked and we have not floated away yeat! :cb:
OK I AM OUT OF HERE......
Wishing you all a year's full of happiness, laughter and may your hearts be filled with song!! Happy New Year My Worldly Friends!!! Love and kisses to you all, Mel
