Tired good for you and your son. I think it will be fun for him to watch it grow and actually pick his own veggies. My garden is doing really good and the beans an cukes are growing fast. With hot weather and then the rain and now the hot the garden just has taken off. Try marigolds to distract that woodchuck. They don't like anything like that. We have a lot of wildlife as well. I have little wire fence around mine. If all goes well I will have some blueberries, grapes, raspberries, apples, few strawberries are ready now and my veggies. I just love having my own stuff. I need to find a good recipe for making some low sugar or no sugar jam. Something like simply fruit is? Any recipes out there?
I planned such a good lunch yesterday but ended up eith lunch provided byt he company for a surprise lunchoen. So I had veggies pizza, one pepperoni and 5 wings. The pizza was good but the wings weren't great. Why did I waste the calories on something that wasn't all that good? Oh well peer pressure! I sat back and watched one girl eat like crazy. Then thought wow I think that used to be me. I was proud of the fact at least I didn't go nuts like there wouldn't be any food left and it was my last meal before sentencing! Just a litte humor! At any rate I ate a good dinner. I made some citrus chicken. The recipe was fresh lemon, lime juices, some orange juice and garlic minced, powder too, salt, pepper. I soaked the chicken strips for 30 min. then sauted in a little oilve oil until done. Then removed them and added onion, 3 colored pepper strips and served it on a tortilla green onion shell. It was really good. I am having the leftovers for dinner tonight. Yesterdays lunch today!
Intake: cereal w/ splash of milk 175
lunch- salad cott.peach,yogurt,salad 325
Chicken w/ tortilla 320
I will add on to this throughout the day but no more than 1400 cal. today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will ck in again before going away. I did buy some healthy stuff to take.Tired keep motivated your doing good!
Judy hope work is going well. Rollmdl if your out there hello!

Hi Carol, I just got back from watering the garden. I did plant marigolds and added a little chili seasoning to soil as recommended by the garden shop worker. Your chicken sounds delicious. Hopefully we'll be sharing the delights of fresh garden picked veggies in a month or so.

I didn't want to run this morning but my husband encouraged me and I went for a 30 minute run through a new neighborhood. I run slow enough to enjoy the gardens and houses and a few hellos too. I think I'll keep trying different neighborhoods to break up the monotomy of running. I managed 20 laps last night but had to quit because the boys weren't cooperating with me at the pool - but 20 is better than none.

Hopefully another good eating day. I'll plan weigh in early next week.
breakfast - grapenuts and orange and coffee
hopefully I'll do a healthy grocery shop today as we're out of a lot of healthy foods.
take care.

Tired I am back and proud of you for checking in even no others were away. That is something I try to do to. It does help to stay on track I think. Well what a fun couple of days away. The children were lots of fun to be with. A few little sibling battles but not many. I for the first time went kayaking what a ball. I have wanted to try it for quite awhile after hearing a friend talk about it. Oh my now I wished I had done it much sooner. The exercise is super for your upper body. It was so easy to learn I am not ready to go down any rough waters but the lake was fun. My daughter and I did it and wanted to go again in the morning but they weren't open! But it is something I would consider wanting to purchase in the future. We swam, fished, kayaked, hiked it was great all but the rash I have. I think it is shoemac. Not sure that is the correct spelling. Oh it is a bit itchy. I am going to the drug store this morning on my way to work. I am going again camping this weekend with our friends. I tell you I got exercise with putting camp up taking it down, hiking to the bathhouse, hiking on the long pier etc. It was great! I didn't over eat which was a postive thing. My son-in-law thinks he has to cook all day long. Wow can he pack it away. I did over do it on breakfast with some bacon. But didn't have too much bread. We did go to the fly by night cookie factory. So I got a pms cookie it was wonderful. Then left my other cookie out and the raccoon had it at night. So better calories for him and not me. We all laughed cause he ate our cookies and had white sugar on our chair and his little foot prints. Well sorry this is so long just wanted to share my fun with yah all. I am going to do the scale on friday this week before my crazy weekend away again. Oh I got my car fixed while I was gone picked it up yesterday. They did a good job. The guy was trying to put the makes on me when I picked it up as I had to wait in his office. Nice to know that can still happen it wasn't any big deal but felt kind of nice in a funny way. Nice to know I am still capable of attraction. Must of been my tan! Hah hah! I am picking up a little side job which starts today. Doing res. hab. work with a client from a friends caseload. I am only doing it about 2 times a month. I am saving this money for my Hawaii trip next spring. It will go right to the savings acct. I am opening for vacations.
Todays intake:2 poached eggs dry rye toast potatoes 1/2 order 450? averaged
salad w/ croutons, cuke, radishes low cal dressing 200
yogurt 90 cals
Dinner out. Little side job starts today and we are going to eat out.
yogurt 90

Hi Carol,

I'm glad that your camping trip went well. I LOVE kayaking!!!! I go once in a while - it is so relaxing and it feels so good to exercise those upper body muscles. Great job not overeating.

I think the man in the shop read your exuberance for life and fit body. I've noticed that since I started this health journey I'm more attractive in body and spirit. Let's keep it up as it feels so good.

I'm going to Brazil this spring and you're going to Hawaii - two good reasons for staying true to a healthy lifestyle. We should both plan a new clothes shopping spree a month or so before our trips.

I had a great day until the evening yesterday then I simply got discouraged. I really have to rethink the late afternoon that's my weakest time. I'm going to try a new strategy today we'll see how it works. I'll plan to weigh in on Friday too and check in. On Sat. I'm taking off for a week's vacation so I won't be posting. Looking forward to hearing from you Carol.

Today's plan
gym exercise this morning (raining here)
late night swim hopefully

tiredoffat 06-28-2005 07:47 PM

Me again. A very good eating day - almost too good to believe. I know I'm repeating myself so feel free to skip the entry but I just need to see it in print.

cottage cheese w/fruit 300
frozen indian dish 320
more fruit 50
two granola bars 340
berry smoothie 250
almonds 170
total 1450 and I'm done for the day.
what I noticed is the spicy frozen food was very satisfying and tasty leaving me not wanting a lot more.

cacmsc 06-29-2005 06:39 AM

Tired what a lnice vacation that will be. Are you going with friends or the hubby? I started a little side job last night. This will be not a set schedule but when I feel like fitting it in type of thing. The lady has Tues. and Saturdays off. I don't mind pulling a saturday once in awhile but will schedule mainly on Tues.. The pay isn't great but its not a difficult job kind of a break from my reg. one. I had a stressful afternoon with one difficult parent. But I didn't let it ruin my day. We had chinese for dinner last night but I had only 600 calories before hand so staying close to my calorie intake wasn't so bad. Yesterday for lunch I picked up the Dole brand of casear salad light and added fresh strawberries and sour dough croutons. It was so tasty. I never ate my yogurt. I have been better with not snacking in the evenings lately. Every little change counts towards a thinner me! Just remember that if we make a change and keep doing it for 6 weeks it becomes habit. I swam last night when I returned home. I have gotten myself a case of poison oak not nice at all. But 15.00 dollars later it is looking a bit better. Well have a super day and hope you can figure out the afternoon weak pt. We have to always have some creative thinking in our lifes.
Intake plan: Breakfast toast w/ sugarfree jam/ yogurt 225
Lunch- casear salad w/ light dressing 120/ fresh strawberries45 and peach 37 crotons 35/ almonds100=527 calories so far
Dinner= beef roast/ onions/ potatoe/ carrots
fresh fruit
frozen fruit pop

tiredoffat 06-29-2005 07:52 AM

Hi Carol, sounds like you did very well yesterday. Good job!!! I'm trying to psych myself up. Last summer I was so so psyched and so strong. I want to regain that feeling. I need a really good "carrot" to keep me strong through the summer. I'm going to think about that today.

Good start today with a half mile swim and veggie omelette w/one piece of dry wheat toast. Lots of chores to do. Have a good day!

cacmsc 06-30-2005 07:26 AM

Tired oh I did great until last night then had some pizza. But it only had onions/ cheese pizza not greasy. So maybe it wasn't so bad. My calories for the day up until that pt. weren't bad at all. Little things like this happen once in awhile just an urge to have it. Sometimes if I don't get what I want I end up eating extra calories to try to satisfy myself. Oh life isn't easy now is it? Today I have a sick day my poison ivy or oak was a bit worse yesterday afternoon. So today I am going to continue to put stuff on it and then swim in the pool too. That usually will do the trick. I am not going to go pay a copay to go get meds.
Yesterdays dinner will be tonights. I am going to get my laundry done, clean, pack for camping. My garden is doing well I am going to pick some radishes today. First thing this year other than a few strawberries.
Intake: 2 slices It. toast little marg. 200 1 yogurt 90
Lunch?
Dinner roast sirloin tip w/potatoes/carrots
Frozen fruit pop

judydc 06-30-2005 05:54 PM

Hey, it's the prodigal fat chick! I haven't had a lot of control of my time, and then got out of the habit of checking in at the end of the workday.

Carol, I'm so glad that you enjoyed the camping trip! Although the poison-whatever doesn't sound like much fun....

Tired--I hope you have a wonderful vacation!

I'm okay, rushing to get everything done before July 15, my last day on the job. My brother is coming to stay for a few days in a week or so, so I also need to clean up my poor apartment and think about stuff to do while he's here. He'll be good about entertaining himself in the museums, etc. during the workday, but it's not ideal timing for me. It'll be fun to have him around, we have a great relationship.

I have been going to Curves, but I haven't made it to my building's gym as often as I'd planned, maybe three times in the past two weeks. I'm going in the morning, though. I have been keeping up with my walking. Eating is scattershot, but mostly good, I hope to have a bit of a loss this weekend.

Sorry for being so unreliable about posting! It's a boost to come back and catch up with what's been happening with you. You are the best.

judy

Hi Carol and Judy,

So good to hear from you both. Carol, I'm sorry about the rash. I've had poison ivy before so I know how difficult and troublesome it is. I hope it clears up soon so it won't be a bother on your camping trip. You did so well on your last camping trip. I hope you have the same eating success and fun during this trip. What kind of campground are you staying at?

Judy, your life sounds very busy right now. It's hard to stay on track through transitions but it sounds like you're making exercise a priority. It's amazing how the exercise really prompts me to eat well. Last time I exercised this much I got very hungry, this time I haven't had that problem. I think its because I'm eating more often and a better balance of foods. Have fun with your brother. Perhaps you can catch a movie one night and eat at some of the great ethnic food restaurants in your area. Will you see the fireworks in DC?

I had a super exercise day and an ok eating day. I ran 3.1 again. Even though my exercise lapsed for a few months, the progress I made back in February is boosting my start right now. I also tried vinyasa yoga for the first time. It was difficult but the leader was very kind and supportive. Afterwards I had a great sense of calm and wholeness - I'll definately try it again.

today's menu
granola bar 140
pasta lunch w/salad, ice water with lemon about 1000 (at a restaurant - hard to calc)
skinny cow cheese, two crackers, one salmon burger (no roll), a few pretzels 300
one piece of chocolate 75 (guess)
total 1515

cacmsc 07-01-2005 07:02 AM

Judy have a good time with your brother in town. Sounds like you will enjoy having him around. He will most likely keep himself busy with seeing a lot of places you take for granted because there close by. So relax and enjoy his visit the timing isn't the best but things always workout. I wish my brother and I had a better relationships. My two sisters and I are a bit closer. My brother is on a higher status kick. Thats not me! Good for you with the exercising. I have been doing a lot of swimming. But haven't been to the gym. My clothes fit the same or better but the numbers on the scale say I am up 2lbs. its time for Tom if he decides to visit this month sometimes he skips a bit. Can't wait til his visits end forever. I did eat a bit strange this week so it could be I am up but maybe not. I exercised in the pool 2 times yesterday. Yesterday had a reg. soda instead of diet.
Tired you keep up the good workouts. Is that a special kind of yoga? I haven't tried yoga but would like to. Did you have to take a mat to class? I heard it is so relaxing and the muscles tighten up with the poses. All hear say I have never ventured into it yet. I am trying to take some healthy foods along camping. My friends are bringing ribs for dinner one night. Also we are having coneys so there goes 280 calories but I will try to do some exercising. I am hoping there are kayka's to rent. That was alot of fun last time and great exercise. The wt. I gained according to the scale I am not to worried about could be muscle do to changes in my exercise. What do you think? Good excuse at any rate. I will keep a close eye on that and how my clothes fit.
Talk to you girls on Monday when I get back. Have a super weekend.

tiredoffat 07-01-2005 10:17 PM
