Congrats on the .6 of a pound, Anagramatic! That's really a whole pound, thou knowest! :cp: :bravo: :cheer:

I think Moon Day Sprint is a lovely name ... for a person or a challenge! I will come up with a goal if you post it!

We have no moon smilie!

That's not good!

Kaylets 07-05-2004 07:00 AM

Hello all!

I missed you all!

Sat, DH and I rode about 1.5 hrs north into NJ to look at a commercial sized lawn mower. Turned out to be "as advertised" and we came home w/ it. Traffic was very heavy so DH and I took an alternate route heading towards PHiladelphia and checked out a new Goodwill store I had heard had opened.

Then, we found another yard sale closer to the house and DH picked up a garden sized rototiller at good price. Even tried it out on a piece of ground near the house I needed. Speaking of gardens, my tomato garden is the tallest I've ever had... we did have very hot, humid days with daily rain but I also am wondering how much the homemade compost is helping. Nearer to the house, I have 3 tomato plants that "volunteered" to grow. Either they are seeds from 2 yrs ago plants or are growing from a tomato that didnt make it to the compost pile... they are not 1/2 as tall as the othes ... but then again, they grew from seed whereas the others were planted about 6" tall...
hmmmm

DH and I are still in our Sopranos marathon... Finished Season 3 last night...
I am glad we aren't paying to see it... The writing is pretty good but its very difficult for me to feel sympathy or a connection for any of the characters considering their entire lifestyle is supported on life of crime.

Did make a chick pea salad w/ Italian Dressing, fresh dill, cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes, onions, garlic ( 3 cloves!) and tofu. Probably would've tasted better if I let it marinate awhile but it was pretty good just put together.
I finally opened up an older WW's cookbook and lo and behold found some tofu recipes in it.
Amazing. Don't know why I'm suprised...

Did I mention that DH and I tried a restaraunt called Betrucci's last weekend?
They were very accomodating when I asked for the pasta dish to come in two separate bowls so I could control how much pasta I was eating. I had a shrimp and pea dish... The shrimp had a very light garlic taste... very delish..
the pasta was wide like fettucine but crimped.... very light cheese flavor...
But what I want to share is the Appetizer and/or side dish... ROASTED VEGETABLES!! so delicious! Peppers, mushrooms and Artichokes! I think they were first marinated w/ Italian dressing spices and then roasted... really, really worth trying!

In fact, DH and I are going back today. Bringing a best friend w/ us too.

Because, this is the day... the big 50 day.
AH well....
Healthier, slimmer, following more dreams than in many a year....

Here's to the next 50!

Question of the day day :
"If you were six inches tall for one day, what would you do?"

----From IF (2) by Evelyn McFarlane & James Saywel

Arabella 07-05-2004 07:52 AM

Good morning All!

Believe it or not, I'm still finishing up last month's work. I actually intended to take a long weekend -- didn't happen, of course. But hope to finish early and then take it kind of easy for the rest of the day. I'm tired!

Hey, I just realized something -- if you type some text and highlight it and select a color, font or size, it will change it without making you type in the little box. Revelations!!! Maybe I was the only one that didn't know it?

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY 50TH KAYLETS!!!! :balloons:

Happy was the day that you came into this world and happy are we to have you among us. Have a wonderful day, and all the best in this fabulous year to come! (I'm turning 49 this year)

Hmmm... if I were six inches tall for a day, I definitely wouldn't work, because jumping from key to key would make typing very arduous. Good exercise, though... :chin:

Love to all -- let's make this a good one!

Amarantha2 07-05-2004 09:13 AM

HAPPY 50TH :queen: K!!!! :hb:  :hat: :encore:

Re 6 inches tall, it's funny but I love cartoons (they're not just for kids) and one of my favorite ones is called "George Shrinks" ... it's about a little boy that's three inches tall. If I were 6 inches, I'd do just as he does, use my brain to compensate and take advantage of the adventure that's all around!

Hmmm, Arabella, that doesn't work for me (re selecting font). I generally just type the codes and then the text, unless I don't know what the code is, in which case I select it and it makes me type something in the little box and I just type a letter to get it to tell me what the code is! Hope that sentence makes sense. Have to get ready to go do my new job from heck!

wsw 07-05-2004 09:29 PM

Happy 50th, dear Kaylets!!!!!

caught up on posts. the heat has gotten to me, but of course, that doesn't seem to decrease my appetite too much. oh well! actually, have done pretty well with food plan, exercise. thinking of you all. take care.

wsw 07-05-2004 09:36 PM

anagram-congrats on your weight loss!!

Kaylets 07-06-2004 05:59 AM

hello all and thanks for the Birthday wishes--- I guess it says something that I went to a WW meeting for my weighin-- and wore jeans which suprised everyone as jeans are "heavy" and showed a tiny loss which everyone is sure means was really a bigger one...maybe even a whole pound!

So...

Am off to the races!!

Empress... Here is a fistful of Fresh Start cards and sparkling cold water to help w/ the Dulce hangover....
I CAN RELATE!! I remember my own fudge crashes!

BIG HUGS TO EVERYONE!

Question of the day :

"If you could have the personality of on any TV character, whose would you adopt?"

----From IF (2) by Evelyn McFarlane & James Saywel

KETTLE IS ON!

deleted2 07-06-2004 07:01 AM

Happy Birthday, Kaylets! :D  :cp: :cb: :gift: And congrats on the weight loss too! Now that's a gift I'd like to receive---soon!

Great question today--I'll have to ponder that one....

Amarantha2 07-07-2004 06:11 AM

Yo! I'll take some fresh start cards, :queen: E!!! Need some on the work front, too, as the new job be not working out, to my mind, anyway! Mayhap I've been working out of my home too long to change, but realizing that I'm going to have a real problem with one person and with the amount of time I'm going to have to put in for no more real benefit to myself.

Hmmm. Must banish negativity today. Determined to keep focusing on the journal thread as that really helps. Refocusing on exercise and daily yoga as well. Unofficially weight is up several pounds. Will do an official weigh-in Sunday!

TV character? Can't think of any that I'd emulate other than the aforementioned cartoonish George ... :encore:

Middle of night, got to sleep!

anagram 07-07-2004 06:39 AM

Belated Happy Birthday, Kaylets! Not too bad hitting the 50, was it?

Empress, sorry to hear change from working at home is as hard for you as for Old Dog. Bet she's missing you. Hope all perks up.

wsw, sorry heat is getting to you but know well what you mean.

Hi to Eydie, :queen: of the Shuttlecock. Really good exercise tool.

Wood Nymph, hope you get a bit of time off soon. Looking for some here too.

Bad habits creeping back - not out of stressful health period yet as had expected to be but hopeful it will be soon. Not much else going on here.

Amarantha2 07-07-2004 06:46 AM

Hmmm. Anagramatic, thou seemingly be up as early as moi! I saw your entry on the journal thread ... or was that Tuesday? Anyhow, thou seemeth to be off to a focused start and it's inspiring me to do the same. Let's both have a good day of healthy eating! :) Huzzah!

Amarantha2 07-07-2004 06:48 AM

Re, Old Dog, she doesn't seem to mind me being gone. She was curled up on the couch when I got home last night and didn't even get down to greet me. When I gave her a hug, she had a kind of "oh, are you back?" look and refused to give up the couch. :lol3:

anagram 07-07-2004 07:05 AM

Sounds like Old Dog has gone to Cat School.

I have been up early but it's, what, two hours later here than where you are so it's now a decent hour.

That was Tuesday's start and I blew it later (will eventually post the blowout) but am off to a strong start today. Can we hold hands across the country and hang on? I need all sorts of fortitude today.

Amarantha2 07-07-2004 10:18 AM

HANDS ACROSS AMERICA (AND CANADA)!!!!! Fortitude flows from one side of the continent to another in all directions and WE WILL SUCCEED (even if it's just success in holding the line)!!! Huzzah! I'm going to post this on the food thread also!! I'm going to gym and dentist later, but will be back later! Hocus pocus focus focus! :wizard: In the meantime, no cake for any of use (me especially), ok?

Arabella 07-07-2004 10:50 AM

Good Morning All!

Was that a tumbleweed I saw blowing through here? Oh, it does get quiet in the summer!

I've finished with last month's work, finally, including the big project about viruses, worms & etc.
http://searchsmallbizit.techtarget.c...991471,00.html

I've got 2 weeks 'til I leave for DH's family reunion outside of Toronto, a bit more than three 'til company meetings in Boston. I really want to focus, to maybe shed a few more pounds and at least FEEL slimmer. Going back to (mostly) induction phase of South Beach and making sure to get more exercise. Plus extreme amounts of primping, of course. I've got a coupon for a pedicure (that I got for my birthday last year  ) -- I should just go ahead and make an appointment.

Anagram, here's my hand, from Canada's east coast. Where are you in the physical world? "Sounds like Old Dog has gone to Cat School." Also, it occurs to me that I may have to write a children's story "Old Dog goes to Cat School." Would you mind if I used that?

And, Amarantha, would you mind if I used your name in the story? Sorry to hear that job doesn't seem to be working out very well for you. Wouldn't it be nice if we could combine the best bits of working from home with the best bits of working with people?

K -- back to salt mines. Love to all! Let's make this a good one!

wsw 07-07-2004 01:34 PM

anagram-sending fortitude and my outreached hand from the southeast.

amarantha-loved the picture you evoked with your hands across america and canada image. it made me smile and feel some of that fortitude and success vibes too. sorry thy job is proving to be such a royal pain in the butt for you, empress.

arabella-hope your 2 week focus on sprint to dh's family reunion goes well. what you said reminded me i too have a gift coupon for a pedicure which i haven't used yet. plan to look for that and make an appt. also.

i want to make a very focused effort in this next month to actually lose some weight, since i haven't in much too long now, plus continue with stress management techniques, eat smaller, healthier portions, and keep up with exercise. demon scale is going to move downward, no matter what! heat still really making me feel sick, but no excuse to give up on my foucused summer sprint. hello to all royals. thinking of you. take care.

Amarantha2 07-07-2004 10:31 PM

Wsw, I guess I should have mentioned Mexico and Hawaii, too, because we might have some lurkers from these fine places! :) Hmmm. Except Hawaii, is in America, so we're covered there. And Mexico is part of North America, as is Canada, so they are Americans, too, so we're all covered, and there's Central America, South America and the Florida Keys, which are in Florida, technically, I think? Covered.

Plus Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Antartica, Greenland, and lots of places I'd bet are wonderful and full of friends who'd help us if they knew about us.

Anyhow, I digress.

Wsw, I am impressed with your hocus pocus focus focus spirit! :wizard: I'm catching that spirit, too! You are right, there ARE no excuses to give up and I'm not gonna!!!

Onward :queen: s!!!

And BTW, I was just wondering if it's time someone started a new thread here as Independence Day 2004 be history, a wrap, in the past, a done deal!!! :gossip:

Just a thought.

And, it IS a bit too quiet and lonely in the palace, as many :queen: s are not coming by as often. I know I'm one of that number and hope to remedy it soon!

Huzzah!

Wildfire 07-07-2004 10:40 PM

Sorry for the absence. DD's orthodontic surgery last week really put everything off-kilter, then DH was away for a long weekend in PA which had me rescuing the cutest little side tables from the trash behind our apartment building and painting them fire-engine red...look so cute with a tropical plant and a few chatchkes on top from DH's time in Thailand...but anyway...

Arabella, you're coming this way? How long will you be here, how tight is your schedule, and would you be interested in having a coffee/drink/dinner? I'm in Burlington, which is about 40 minutes outside TO, and don't mind driving.

A big hello to all our :queen:s....it is quiet in the court lately.

Okey-dokey...enough is enough...time to get with the program!

Amarantha2 07-07-2004 10:45 PM

Arabella, you did a really good job on the malware project! Lots of good, clear info!

I don't mind if you use my screen name in your story, BTW.

Hmmm. I forget, ARE there any best bits of working with people? :lol3:

Avanti!

Amarantha2 07-07-2004 10:46 PM

Wildfire: Huzzah!! Glad to see thee!

anagram 07-08-2004 07:16 AM

Flyby to thank all for the hands across the Universe. Felt them and they kept me from falling down slippery slopes.

yesterday even more stressful. In a nutshell, one situation led to stopping a crucial medicine which puts dh in much riskier mode. Hoping to be able to restart today. More bloodwork today. And I'm back and forth between nurses in various specialists office and being a genuine pain while making sure little nuggests of information don't get lost. As DD said last night "that's your job".

Arabella, I'm in south central PA. And certainly use "cat school" if it works for you.

Will catch up when things reach a better pace and I'm not ready to flip. Other than two errant pieces of cake though, I haven't done too poorly foodwise.

Amarantha2 07-08-2004 08:34 AM

Anagramatic, I see more hands reaching out from across the whole Milky Way galaxy to support thee and dh!!! Huzzah! Stay strong! :strong: Methinks a little cake may be in order just to keep body and soul together when dealing with nurses!

Arabella 07-08-2004 09:39 AM

Good morning to all Queens of the Realm

I've officially finished with June's work and am on to July's. Have decided, though, that I've got to get some balance into my life and not try to force myself to work too hard (counterproductive, because inner child sulks, balks, and is in general a big pain in the butt -- which butt also gets bigger, because inner child sees no reason to restrict self in any way). So... life begins again. I hopped back onto the South Beach induction yesterday and feel better for it. Carbs are just not the good friends to me that they pretend they are! I'm not anti-carb, exactly, but I really have to limit them (and make sure they're almost entirely healthy ones) or I'm tired, ill-humored, and suffer (not to mention give in to) cravings. And the more of them I eat the more I want, until a catastrophic binge makes me desire feeling well more. How many times must I relearn this?

Wildfire!!!! I'm so excited -- I'd forgotten that you were so close to TO. I'm going to be there from Sunday the 25th to Saturday the 31st, and if you've got time in there I'd be so thrilled to get together for any of the aforementioned! YAY!!!

Maybe next year we can have that whole group meeting on PEI that we've mentioned before :chin:

Amarantha, I think we do want to get another thread going before too long, but I guess I'd prefer to wait a little bit to see if any of our darling strays return to the fold first, so they still see the original thread.

Cerise? Ceara? Frogger? Lurkest thou? I know our Punkin was busy, and I trust she'll be back soon.

Anagram, despite everything I said about carbs, they are just the greatest tranquillizer in the world, aren't they. No wonder they're always the "drug of choice" for comfort foods.

wsw, let's make a pact to get those pedicures! I'm going to make an appointment today, and I'll be thinking of you having your tootsies beautified while I'm at it.

Kaylets, WTG on the WI -- look at those stats of yours, Birthday Girl! You're FABULOUS!

Okey-dokey. I'm off for a run, and then must be productive again. Love to all, mentioned or unmentioned. Let's make this a good one!

Amarantha2 07-08-2004 06:27 PM

Yo! Flybye, me-me postie, as I'm pooped!

:queen: E, fire in the belly update: I just signed up for two more sessions with the personal trainer that I just said good-bye to three weeks ago! I can't afford it but I need to get back to the commitment and she's really helped me before.

Arabella, I'm with you on learning balance ... I need to get this back as the new job has decentralized me. It's not about the work, it's about life. Life is what's important, work is just an afterthought, methinks.

Can see your desire to hold off on a new thread. It's just kind of bugging me that we're still posting on the Independence Day challenge! :lol3: Just a personal thing with me, I like to always be moving on to a new thing. Anyhow, I need to wait until someone feels moved to change the thread because I've started too many in my day and appeareth too pushy mayhap.

Extending a hand across something like 10 states (10?) to Anagramatic!!! I think there's a handshake smilie but I don't know what it is!

Ok, off to take nap and will report in journal thread tonight. I feel quite pumped that I made the decision to use the trainer again! Mayhap this is the pivotal thing for me at this juncture. :chin:

Wildfire 07-08-2004 06:36 PM

Feeling more in control today. Not perfect, but better.

Arabella, this is great! :cb: Why don't we work out the details privately (for reasons of security and spam)?

Anagram, hope the situation is resolved with DH's meds. That sounds serious!

 to all!

Arabella 07-08-2004 06:57 PM

Wildfire, yes, we'll work it out privately. Plus we don't want to make anyone feel bad 'cause they can't come too. I haven't got the address, but I'll get it from DH later (it's his mom's place). Oh, this is GREAT!!!

BTW, if anyone's in the Boston area and has time and inclination to get together on Sat the 31st or Sunday Aug. 1.... :chin:

Amarantha, yes, balance is so important. My desire for balance today meant that I ended up (gulp) not working this afternoon. Got carried away cleaning my house. Still not clean, but seems more doable. Having a party a week from Saturday and really want to get the house shining by then. Tomorrow, I'll go for more balance (i.e. actually get some work done  )

Night, All!

anagram 07-08-2004 09:55 PM

Flyby - dh hospitalized today. I'll be awol for a bit.

Amarantha2 07-08-2004 10:15 PM

Anagram, sorry that dh has had to be hospitalized! :sorry:

Fingers and toes crossed that all goes well. Awaiting your return!

Arabella 07-09-2004 06:54 AM

Good morning, All!

First and foremost, Anagram, hands and love extended to you again. I'll keep you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

I'm back on mostly induction phase and squeezed (or squoze, as my dad used to like to say) another pound off. Trying to do the Hocus Pocus Focus really hard for the next -- well, month really, because I don't want to get off track while I'm away. I'm glad that so many restaurants are getting more lower carb options. DH's cousin e-mailed the set menu for our first dinner with the family: lasagna, garlic bread, Caesar salad & fruit cobbler. Total Carbfest. I've readjusted my mini-goal -- thinking that I'm not going to manage to lose 34 pounds in the next 9 days. I readjusted, with a goal of around six pounds a month. Felt a little disheartened, but what can one do but carry on?

I just happened to see Morrigan on another thread (who here is from the old Christmas lites thread? Amarantha. And Anagram, Eydie, and Wildfire?) I PMed her and she's going to stop by to say hello. She's got 2 kids (think she had just had one when last we met). Wonder what ever became of Joanie?

Okey-doke. Time to get productive (well, breakfast and shower and then productive). Love to all -- let's take this day and do the best we can with it!

Amarantha2 07-09-2004 09:24 AM

Yo, will be on hiatus for approximately two weeks but will update my sig to document weight changes. Probably won't even have time to lurk, though! Avanti! :cofdate:

Punkinseed 07-09-2004 11:09 AM

It's FRIIIIIIIDAY!!!!! :cb:

Sorry I've been AOL - we've been super busy hiring a new mechanic and my mom's been out of the office quite a bit so I've been running things solo.

Anagram, please keep us posted on DH. I hope everything's ok????

Don't have time to chat right now, just wanted to wish you all a wondermus weekend!

Toodles!

Terri

Kaylets 07-09-2004 08:35 PM

As she comes crashing onto the porch, hair everywhichway, glasses swinging wildly from the neck chain, pausing only to open the door rather than to careen right thru it.....

She comes skidding into the room, throwing her bags and raincoat at the first empty spot, grabs a cup and lands in the rocker in what seems like a single movement.....

She takes a deep breath and then says,

" Hello all!"

Anagram-- ((((((((((((HUG))))))))))) and know all of us are with you. Sending positive vibes and prayers your way. Enough for you and DH.
We are with you!

Empress-- wait a minute! you mean this "promotion" means we have to do without you!! I am not sure I like the sound of this! Just kidding... Knock em dead! Make them green w./ envy! Make them wish they were 1/2 as good as you!

Arabella and Wildfire! I am so jealous! Enjoy your time together! Maybe someone will take a photo of the two of you together? then you could share???

Wsw-- your post yesterday really helped when I was lurking during my lunch yesterday... I was feeling starved and was starting to think I should forget what I packed for lunch and have something else. But then I happened upon your post and realized its only up to me....thanks for posting when you did yesterday!

Punkin... I CAN RELATE !! Just when I thought I had the best schedule going..
I went and cut out an 1.5 each morning.... I am starting to wonder if it would be better if I posted "tomorrow's thought of the day" .....

Eydie! Congrats on your anniversary... been meaning to tell you that since the day I read your post telling us about the anniversary! YIKES...

Frogger! How are you feeling??? Hope you are in training and that's why we havent seen much of you.

Zadie... We cleared a section of the garage last week to fit a bigger walkbehind mower.. wound up tossing lots of empty boxes.. ( why do we save them only to toss them.. I think I will instute a rule... only can save 3.. )
I have intentions of taking photos for Ebay auctions this weekend and expect to be able to put things safely away in boxes too.
Did you have a chance to "organize" some of your projects...

More domestic stress... Its amazing how folks ( children) can justify why parents should hand over large sum of money ( nearly $1000) while at the same time reminding telling us to "call me on my cellphone ".. amazing what passes as a necessity... obviously its not respect for your parents...

Also amazing how easy it is to say no when you really don't have the money...
at least not right on hand. Its a shame that an able bodied person who could easily waitress/bartend, etc weekends and double their income easily.. ( single, no children) would rather leave a voicemail message at a time when it was a very safe bet no one would be home to pick up the phone.
The message said the money was needed for car repairs. Well, maybe...
We learned that lesson last "loan"...
and I figure it this way... DD lives in a big city w/ a transit system I still miss...
so... its interesting to see DH's reaction to this request... whether its because she's 2 yrs older than DS or whether DH just has less tolerance. Or perhaps he realized he was getting played long ago....
I give up.

But all I know for sure is...if the bus ( as limited as it is here ) is good enough for me...

so who did I forget...

Cerise! Ceara! How are you??? Who else has come by lately??

And yes, I think the Empress is right.. we could use a fresh thread...

any ideas? any thoughts on getting us to the end of of July???

KETTLE IS ON!

anagram 07-10-2004 05:57 AM

Morning. DH hanging in, yes, it is serious stuff. Three pints of blood so far. Waiting for a turn around. I'm hanging in too.

EOM is a "Blue Moon", rare enough to celebrate perhaps. Not that I'm going to be stressing too much about weight right now.

Thanks for all the support. I sit in that hospital room and feel the hands and hugs coming. Really helps.

Kaylets 07-10-2004 06:28 AM

Hello all!

Anagram... Here's another (((((((((((((((((((((HUG)))))))))))))))))))))

Need to run...

Today I ask all of you...

anagram-i'm so sorry to hear dh is in hospital and going through such a rough time. you and dh are in my thoughts and prayers. sending lots of hugs too. hope turn around happens soon. here's my hand--.

amarantha-will miss you while you're on hiatus here. take good care of yourself.

kaylets-glad to hear my post proved good timing for you. i so rely on the good support and tips i learn from all of you. i love all those quotes you post for us, kaylets.

hi arabella, wildfire, punkin! --and to all the royal ones, hope your saturday is a good one.

got a lot of cleaning and organizing of closets done in past couple of days, which feels good. somehow, still have quite a bit to go, but on the right track. my place is so small that organization is crucial here. have remained op and exercised. off to try and get some errands done before gets too much hotter. take care, all.

ceara 07-10-2004 09:08 AM

I've been lurking...just no time to log in and post....

Am looking foreward to a week of restoration......of me. DH and DS are gone for the week, so I am the official turkey and chicken sitter. Hopefully none die on my watch...unlike last year

Anagram, keeping you in my prayers :grouphug:

I need to get ready for work...one of my self projects is to take care of me, and I need a shower and to make my lunch. Besides my typing hasn't improved much I see...have a lot of typos to correct as I go..lack of practise

Will check in later 'gators!

Ceara

Wildfire 07-10-2004 10:52 AM

anagram, we are all right there with you in spirit. I hope DH makes that turnaround pronto. Keeping you both in my thoughts and my heart. :grouphug:

Friday here has always been a pizza & movie night. :jeno: Last night I decided I wasn't really hungry after work, and didn't want pizza. Okay, so I ended up munching on microwave popcorn later :corn: (natural, not buttered), but that has to be better than scarfing pizza.

Amarantha, two whole weeks??? I guess we will have to survive without you but I hereby declare that it is under protest! :judge:

Kaylets, slow down girl! This new job is certainly keeping you busy. Happy Belated Birthday! :hat: Kids can really be something, huh? They just seem to expect so much more these days and feel it should be provided for them, not something they have to achieve themselves.

ceara, good luck :chicken: sitting!

wsw, doesn't a little cleaning/organizing make a world of difference? Makes you more relaxed knowing there isn't a disaster lurking behind closet doors...even though you are the only one who usually sees it, just knowing it is all in order lifts your spirits.

Punkin, good to see you! Hope things settle down there soon.

Who are we missing? Cerise, zadie, Eydie, we know Frogger is preoccupied...any wandering royalty out there, stop in!

We are off today to the Re-Use Center to hunt for treasure. It is a huge warehouse where people bring stuff they no longer want but is too good to throw out. It is donation only, they don't pay for your unwanted stuff. Then they resell it dirt cheap to anyone who wants it. I picked up a lamp there last week, big side-table lamp in working condition for $5.00. Needs a new shade so I'm going to buy a plain one and jazz it up with some beaded trim. To buy a similar lamp in a discount home decor store they go for upwards of $70.00!! Going back to look for the mate to this lamp. It was there last week but I only needed one. The mate was marked $2.00 because the wire was cut. DH said we should get it because eventually we might need the second lamp (when we are in a bigger place) and it's a snap to rewire a lamp. Also spotted some interesting tables last week, and we are on the hunt for martini glasses. There are aisles of dishes/glassware for pennies! Never know what you might find.

Having watched Finding Nemo for the third time, one line in particular has stuck with me...."just keep swimming". (When Marlin was discouraged and Dory was trying to cheer him up.)

So just keep swimming everyone! :bubbles:

Anagram, thinking of you and your dear one. Thanks for keeping us posted--love to you!

Well, as you :queen: s may have predicted, I can't stay away two weeks, but am going to limit my posting for two weeks anyhow as this job is turning into a bear! Anyhow, am sending hands across the country to Anagramatic and her dh!

Thanks for the greeting in absentia, :queen: K!

Can't hack the detailed journal thread and have posted a calorie counters club(lette) thread for anyone who just wants to post calories in/calories out and I'll be over there for awhile. Huzzah! I'm going to hocus pocus focus focus on getting the weight off and for me it's calories that count!

Also thanks to Wildfire and Wsw for remembering me ... I'm still officially gone on hiatus but on the calorie counter thread! :)
