Hello Everyone...I have been so busy today.. Picking up clothes from the cleaners and I got a pedicure...went to the store fot Bert..She is doing good..Called Buddy and checked on him..He is feeling tired and not well...
He will be looked in on by others while I am away...I was glad for that..
Berts DIL will be looking after her and they are looking into Assisted living for her.. That might be best.. There are some really nice places around here that I think she would like...I have hair appointment tomorrow and I have some ironing and more packing to do after that...Whewwww..It takes so much to go away for a week...My Hubbys says I pack like I will be gone a year :rofl:...Well maybe :lol: I have to be prepared..:lol:


Daphne...I didnt get a email from you about Dana.. ..
I dont know why that happens..
I have had other people say sometimes....I sent you a email and I say... I didne get it...Crazy pooters...They can drive a person nuts...at times..:crazy:..... :shrug:

I am so sorry to hear that the hurricane effected her and her family and now with being diagnosed with Diabetes and thyroid..I can imagine she is going through so very much....I only wish I could do something to help her...God Bless her.. I hope that things get better for her real soon...

You need a big Pat on the back for sticking it out at Curves when it hurt to exercise..You hung-in-there and I know how much hard work you did at Curves to get those inches off..and 3 pounds is really not alot of weight to gain from vacation...I hope I can do as well only gaining that..but I doubt it..We wil be eating there...:lol: We have to many favorite places to eat and everyone knows how it goes on vacation....

I didnt know about coffee..I need my coffee...I am not myself untill I have some first thing in the am..:lol: Can you believe decaff coffee gives me a headache....I cant drink it.....I wont drink it. I sure hope I dont have to give that up...I did read about sometimes people with Diabetes could be carb sensitive.. Jim is not carb senstive and he is so happy about that..
He watched to see if any carbs made his sugar go up and it didnt...but I still try to keep an eye on that..He has done really good considering he loves to eat and he loves all the wrong foods.. :lol:..Its hard but we both have come along way...I too can love alot of the wrong foods..so...He helps me and I help him...but while we are on vacation.. We help each other to the nearest place we like to eat at..:rofl: ann we will eat some of our favorite things..
Then we try to do alot of walking on the beach..that always helps..

Hi guys. Sorry I've been MIA so long. I didn't even realize it had been that long until Daphne emailed me earlier this week and Donna emailed me yesterday. I really haven't been on the PC much at all in the past few weeks.

Summer have a great beach time but keep on lookout for Hurrican Ivan. He's headed this way and we won't know where it will touch down. I hope for Florida's sake that they are spared this time around though. My mom went to MB last week for 5 days with her sister and brother in law and it was just as Frances was hitting Florida. They say the waves looked really funny. I will miss you when you're gone but relax and enjoy.

I have to go back to the dr. this afternoon. I went on tuesday to see a new practice basically to get my pap test etc. with a dr. that accepts our insurance. I was going to the same place for almost 10 years so change was great. However there was speculation that my thyroid wasn't functioning correctly. They took 2 vials of blood and checked my iron which was fine. They tested my glucose and it was 211 and I do not believe that. I check mine all the time and my complaint was it stayed low or on the low end even after eating. They rechecked just before I left and it was 106 and the dr. said there was no way it cut in half with my activity being nearly none. They wanted to do an A1c level which is as blood test that measures your average glucose over a 3 month period. They called yesterday to tell me that my blood work would have to be redone because they needed one more vial for that test. Crazy to me because brett has it done every 3 months with only 1 drop of blood and results in 3 minutes. I think they have to go through the hospital at this place though. So anyway, they want me to eat lunch at 11 and come in at 1:00 for a 2 hour glucose. They were wanting me to go to the hospital for diabetes class. I basically know it all so I'm confused. I'm not above saying I won't be diagnosed with diabetes but their meter was just wrong. I"m taking one of mine today if I don't forget. Also my birth control pills I was on for 9 months ws making me "moody". I haven't been on anything for 7 weeks now and it makes me easier to get along with Dh. In fact we are closer than we've been in years. So they are changing me to something that is a low dosed pill. Just enough for protection but won't bother my hormones too badly. I can't start them until after my next period which will be about 3 more weeks since I just got over one.

My mom had went to the beach this past wed through sunday and didn't tell me she was going until someone told me at the post office the day before. I thought that was rude of her considering she waiting until that night and called me to pick up her mail for her those days so I had to look after her house. Anyway, as you know it's always something.

I have a meeting today with logan's teacher for his academic plan. He scored below basic by only 3 points on science part of our PACT test which is just one of those state standard tests they take in spring. I have always had to go for these meetings ever since brett started taking PACT in 3rd grade. Brett scored below basic on science and social studies by a couple of points but I think his is due to them not checking his sugar prior to taking the tests like he was suppose to. We also are dealing with the schools fund raisers. One school is using Sally Foster gift wraps and such if anyone is interested. You can do it online with the school code and they mail it straight to you and the school benefits.

Thanks daphne and donna for the emails. I truly did miss you all and thought of you all often. Daphne I didn't realize jason was so young. Not that you aren't but I thought he was older.

Rosey if you feel like you've been abandoned while summer if gone, just email me and I reply quicker to them. My computer is slow and it's easier and quicker for me to email than to log in here. I want me a new computer with DSL either christmas or with our tax refund in a few months.

Well anyway, let me post before i lose this and you all take care. I will let you know what the blood work turns out to be when they get the results.

I am sticking to my seefood diet :lol::lol: I am still wondering why I can tell Robert to do something and he forgets it 3 minutes later, yet he can remember something from 6 years ago! I miss all our other posters but will be posting each day being as kinds and hubby gone. We went to Applebees for Roberts 10th birthday yesterday. It was the grand opening so we had to go. OMG I had the all you can eat riblets:T:. Let me tell ya sisters that was a yummy ribfest for me. I even had seconds on them. Hey I didn't eat the fried or the coleslaw or the baked beans. Megan ate them! I wanted a drink but with out seeing what they cost I wasn't going to order one.
Keep my friend Shawn in thoughts and prayers. She lives in New Orleans and Ivan is headed for her. She is 33 and a single Mama. She is very worried and stressed but stubborn. She wont leave her house unless she is forced to. He ex bf is boarding up her windows right now for her. She didn't sleep last night being as she was worried about it all. The schools closed there today and the hurricane wont hit till Wednesday night or Thursday. So she also has to deal with a 9 year old boy that is busy like Robert.

Hi guys. Just thought I would drop a line or two. I have loads of okra to cut up and freeze. I've had enough of it fresh already and I just want to freeze this. I think it will be all that I get finally cause I've ate my share of it. Speaking of Ivan, Daphne, it is headed this way as well and we've had more rain than we can take. I'm nervous about the tornadoes. We had about 25 statewide from francis the other week. This storm is bigger. I tried to get all groceries today to keep us from having to go out but I realized we need dog food.

My tests came back fine on the diabetes thing. My hemoglobin A1C was only 5.0% and that means my sugar average last 3 months was 90. I thought their meter was just WAY wrong and that proved it. My thyroid was .7 and normal is .4 to 5.5 so it was on the low end of normal. I feel really exhausted every day nearly and I know if my thyroid was up a little, I would have some energy. They said they would check it again next year to see if it dropped or if I feel worse before then, they would prescribe something.

Rosey I can't believe you cut up dead animals. i know that sounds grossly said but the thought of it makes me sick. Yuck. Isnt it sloppy?? And HUGE?? I'm proud of you for keeping up with Curves. I just don't have any energy to even walk right now. I feel so sleepy too. That's why I thought it was my sugar staying so low all the time and draining me.

Daphne I know what you mean about the kids and school. I love my independence. DH works 12 hour shifts still so he works Tues, Wed, sat, sun one week and the opposite days the next week. He's working today but off next 2 days so today is my last day of peace this week. Today Brett brings home his mid-term report and that will show how he is doing in middle school. I'm not expecting much from him especially because it's all new but after today, I'm sure we will stiffen up some with him.

Well I need to finish my okra. I would predict summer home before she thinks cause they could even evacuate our beach but if she wants to come home dry, she better head home now. :lol:

Just a quick post here. We are one of the few who still have power in this county. We had Ivan come through lastnight and it was horrendous. The wind was awlful. Our home just vibrated and schools are all closed in this area. We had tornado warnings but there again, our city was spared from any touch downs. They are saying that Ivan could churn back down toward this way maybe tomorrow and hit us again. Then we have to watch Jeanne and Karl out in the Atlantic. Hope you all are having a great friday. Pray for summer cause they are about to experience some tornado stuff down that way if she's still there and if she's home, this mess is headed up toward virginia as well.

I wanted to pop-in and say I am home.. Yes we had bad weather..High winds and rain..I thought maybe we would have to evacuate but that didnt happen...
Thank goodness..We had 3 days of partly sunshine..
We had Murphys Law with this vacation form start to finish...Its been a real experience...Unreal...Everything that could go wrong.. DID....
I am calling it National Lampoons Vacation..LOL..
Long story and I will tell you all about it later.. I am still tired from the trip home..It rained so hard and the winds were so high..it took us over 10 hours to get home when its usually a 7 hour or so trip..
It was scary..I was totally wiped-out when we got home..
The hurricanes have really did an awful number on everyone everywhere....
I have been praying for everyone....Its been so bad..
I am glad that Dana is back and alright...I have been really worried about her..
I am glad that Daphne was here for you Rosey.. I worried that you would be lonely in here.. Thank-you Daphne for being here too...
I hope that Donna will return one day soon... and I Missed all of you....

Hi guys. So glad to hear from summer. I have worried about her. I know they had some bad weather cause i've been watching the weather channel a lot this past week. I'm glad you're home safe and sound and tell us about it when you can. I was down there about 3 years ago when those tornadoes came through and barely missed our camp ground. We could literally see and hear them and I've said since then I will watch the weather and at least not get caught in anything predicted if I can help it. Of course those tornadoes were water spouts that came ashore and without warning. We still have some neighborhood damage and even a few without power. My grandmother was without power from 9:15 thursday night until 4:30 saturday afternoon. My mom had to go get her freezer foods and bring them this way and it wasn't but about 2 hours later her power came on but it took until lastnight for the freezers to refreeze after they defrosted. I know a lot of people who lost a lot of meat stored for winter but thankfully no one in our county died. We had 10 tornadoes in our county alone thursday night.

I'm like you Glen. My diet is really non existent. All my tests came back fine so why can't I lose weight? Of course my thyroid was on the low end but not low enough for any medications. There's some days that I can't make myself get off the couch and wake up and today may be one of them since DH is at work.

Daphne hope you are well. I haven't noticed posting over the weekend but I may have looked with "one eye closed". :lol:

Hello Everyone...Its a beautiful day here today.....:sunny:.....Sunny and about 75...of course its that way..I can only say that my vacation was a real experience this year..I have to laugh about it all...I will try to give you the condenced version..Its a really long story...:lol:

We broke down Friday evening with about 100 more miles to go to get to MB....Our Explorer started over heating and we stopped in this little town that had a gas station a Waffel House and a Tow company...anyway..the guy at the gas station was really nice and helped us..Oh I forgot to say that I called the Ford dealership in the big town of Lumberton that we had passed through. It had a Ford dealership there and we have an extended warrenty on our Truck. We also have a towing service.. I asked the guy a the dealership if they could please fix our truck....and explained we were out of town on our way to MB...He said they were closing in 20 min and if we got there by then..they still would not get to our Truck untill Tuesday of next week and they are not open on the weekends..with that he hung up the phone on me...I was so shocked... Well..can you imagine how freaked-out I was...They guy at the gas station said that dealership was terrible to everyone.. He called the local tow guy that has his own tow comp and repair shop there..He agreed to fix it the following morning but he had to get the part (thermostate ).. the next morning and that took some time..we had to creep down the road and (keep stopping careful not to let the truck over-heat..because it could crack the engine block).. to the only motel there and it was bad..I mean bad..We slept in our clothes bad...I got some paper towels out of our truck and used them to wash my face.. I would not use thier towels..Nasty...very dirty..I could not beleive they charged 65.00 a night and we had no choice but to pay it..Back to the next morning..we got there early so the Truck was cooled off so he could work on it..That took forever..he was slow and talking to every person that passed by... He scared me when he took out a gun and layed in the work bench..I didnt know what to expect..he said because he carrys alot of money on him thats for protection and it was a bad area around there..All the more reason we wanted to get away from there.. 5 hours and 250.00 later we were on our way to MB..I was thankful that he agreed to help us and I dont know what we would have done if he had not done that..

Then we get there the room wasnt as clean as it should be.. Believe me I am not picky picky but when the top of the TV had 2 inches of dust on it and the this is a 5 star place.. I was not a happy camper.. I called housekeeping and they redid the Condo..The sink in the kitchen leaked and in the bathroom another leak...I told you all this was the vacation from ****....LOL LOL..
Then my hubby gets sick with a soar throat and sinus infection...Lucky I had meds for that...and of course the bad weather to boot...Our friends that fly down were late getting in the MB airport and we worried about them..
We got lost trying to find the MB airport..we finally found it..We were given wrong directions...Unreal.....
My cell phone was acting up and I could not get it to work...I was gonna say whats next..but I was afraid to ask..LOL LOL..and of course the bad weather..so all in all it was a wild time...but We made the best of it and had alot of laughs about it..I already told you all about the scary ride home on the bad storms..That was the icing on the cake as they say...Oh well... Next year is another year and Yes I will go back..because threw it all...I love MB and always will..
Needless to say...I was NOT on my diet there... I also had some drinks too....:cheers:...LOL..I Needed to unwind and I ate alot while I was there... :ink: :moo: :burger: :mcd: :jeno: ..

I now need to get back on track...This morning I woke up with a soar throat..I guess I now have what hubby did....Oh well..I starting taking meds today and hopefully I wil better soon.

From the bad storms.. I know all about losing all food in the freezer and the fridge..I amglad that your Mom didnt lose all of hers...It so costly when that happens..I know about that..
We left and went to MB..I said why stay here with no power..so we went but hubby wasnt feeling that good.. he was still on chemo at the time.
I am so glad to hear that your sugar is normal..I know that you were relieved about that... and all your tests were good.. Thats great..
Maybe you being tired is due to stress..That can make you tired.. I understand that its hard to do anything when you dont feel good..
I am glad that you are safe and that everything is alright with you..
I love okra..It will be so good in the winter time...I miss a garden...

Hi everyone I am so glad that ya all are back. I hope that the weather stays nice for us all. I will post in themorning after kids go to school. I am off diet and can't seem to get my butt moving, but to the food.

Hi everyone.. another beautiful fall day here.. the leaves and trees were spectacular on our way home yesterday..i have been cleaning and doing laundry today :( not my favorite thing to do but needs doing :lol: i had so much fun with the grkids.. i helped my oldest timmy with aproject for school..he had to make ahuge poster called all about me..so we used pictures etc and he wrote the captions ..i will be interested to know what his grade will be..i had lots of hugs.. and the moose got buthchered..dana you make me chuckle its not yucky to me :lol: how do you think the beef at the grocery store gets in those nice neat packages :lol: i have been doing this all my life as my dad was a hunter too..its a real satisfying feeling to have all that meat in the freezer..and it just like beef..we took part of it to a place called indian valley meats and we are having polish sausage made, terriaki sticks and breakfast sausage..it will be ready in about 14 days.. wallmart was fun but i was so tired..did get some new fabric some stamping supplies and a few groceries..tomorrow its back to curves..i feel thinner today..yipppppee maybe its working.. wont know till i get weighed and measured..and they only do that once a month..summer am glad you are home.. your description of your trip was funny but ill bet experiencing it wasnt..that was un real..Mr ken.. hope you get better fast if i was closer id bring you some homemade chix soup.. stay well..daphnee hope you find some you time when the kids are in school..dana sorry you are so tired..but glad for you your tests are ok..kris glad to here from you too.. well i here some giant dust bunnies calling my name..better get back at it ((((((hugs)))))) rosey :wave:

Hello....I just wanted you all to know that I am sick..I have what the hubby did at the beach.. Go figure...I do feel a little better than I did.. been on antibotics for afew days...I hope to be better real soon..

Rosey.. Glad you are home and that you have plenty of meat in the freezer..I had to laugh about how the meat gets to the grocery store....How right you are..I juat dont want to see the process..:lol:..You know what I mean :lol:
When you are use to seeing things like that you sonr give it a second thought.. I saw a chicken being killed and dressed and that was enough for me.. I didnt eat chicken for awhile and finally I started eating it again...:lol:
I am sure your Grandson will get a good grade on his project you helped him with..and yes it was funny about all that happen on vacation but not at the time :lol:..Please send me some of that Chick-soup along with Mr Ken...

Hi everyone..just now had a moment to my self..was in town at curves..boy even my toenails hurt :lol: :?: :lol: ..had to do 3 days in a row as i missed monday and tuesday..im not used to that..hope summer and mr ken are better..my dh has a nasty cold now too..so far im fine..am starting to get used to this lo-carb diet..it just takes more meal planning..and a policed pantry..its so pretty out today all "fallish" and sunny..hope you all will have great weekend.. think thin..rosey :wave:

Rosey you can send me the snow. We are going to be hit by Hurricane Jeanne tonight and tomorrow and I"m frankly tired of this. I will take the snow any day.

Glen what happened to your leg for it to get infected? Doesn't sound too good but hope that clears up in a hurry for you.

I haven't scrolled back to the page before this so don't know if daphne has been in or not. If so, daphne have you started christmas shopping yet?

I went to my 2 year old cousins birthday party yesterday and even stayed afterwards for a cookout and had a good time. I held the baby sister who is 5 months old now and even got to change her (diaper and clothes for she peed on me) and fed her and rocked her to sleep. So many memories.... My grandma who is 72 years old has been keeping this baby and claiming that she "has to help Amy out" which is the baby's mom. She's been diagnosed with thyroid trouble and can't get meds until october 5th. Well I talked to amy thursday night and was informed that granny had actually been kidnapping the baby and that amy felt just fine. Well at the party granny thought she was going to keep the baby to herself but was proven so wrong!!

I have an issue going on with brett and middle school. Last thursday he tried to check out his 3rd library book of the year and they refused and said he needed to turn in a book about Dirt Bikes that he had and was way over due. He owed a lot of money on it. The thing is he never checked out this book. He's never seen it. He's only checked out 2 books which are cartoon/comic related such as Spiderman comic book and Captain Underpants. I knew he wouldn't have checked out the dirt bike book cause he's not into "guy things'". He's still stuck on cartoons. So thursday night I emailed the librarian and told her we didn't have that book. Well rather than her contact me back, she turns it over to the first year 6th grade principal. He proceeds to call brett out of a test that has major weight on his english grade and demands that he bring the book to school monday and put it on his desk. Brett said all he could do was cry. It breaks my heart that this sh**head treated him this way. If you guys remember brett was mistreated by a teacher in 3rd grade. Well this teacher is the ex-wife of this principal. (he doesn't want to get on my bad side). Well brett ended up having to have a psych. eval. in 4th grade and was diagnosed clinically depressed. Well this principal may have done more damage. I have a lot to "discuss" with this man. He doesn't want to be reminded that his old wife did wrong 3 years ago. Well we took the boys to the highschool football game friday night. (homecoming game and we won 31 to 14). Anyway, I checked my cell phone cause DH was coming straight from work and I wanted to make sure he hadn't called. There was a voice mail from principal that he had left at 2:11 pm. ( I was in school line at elem. school then). He told me that he would call me back monday morning (tomorrow). He wanted to get some information to clarify a few things. (can't wait..sure call me!) Anyway, I have a meeting with 2 teachers at 2:30 tomorrow about his pact test last year. Anyway not looking forward to that due to the rain we're suppose to get.

Anyway, now my computer is trying to hang up with all these pop ups going on. I will try to get on after the car race. Hope you all have a super sunday and everyone feels better.

Hello Everyone...

I have been up to my elbows with Microsoft's Service Pack 2... What a headache..I was on hold for 30 min to talk to a tech.. I was prompted to download this Saturday and I did..It took 45 min...It ended up changing settings in my computer and all kinds of things.. Could not stay connected to be on line and so forth.. what a nightmare..It took the better part of today to get the issues resolved and not all of them are....Its a nightmare.. I finally found out this evening that I can delete all of it and I prob will do that if anything else goes wrong...I cant understand why they think they are making things better in reality they are worse...Unreal..and so flustrating..
I am better except I have a headache...wonder why... :lol:
I missed another class today because I could not leave in order to try to fix the probs..Then after that...I had to take our other car for inspection by this time it was after 4:00 and hubby had to work late... Had to go to the Grocery store after that...I have plenty to do to play catch-up tomorrow..What a day..:lol:

There is a pop-up blocker in Yahoo tool bar thingy and also in smiley central..These are free pop-up blockers.. Maybe they can help you when you come in here.. They block for me in here.. Just a thought..trying to help..

Oh no no no no no:nono:nono: Now I am so heart broken about everyone quiting. I have tried to get to post but still having trouble with the site. I finally had to redo all my stuff and added spyware and add aware and then was not able to access this site. I finally got on here today and then had to redo my password. I was using a capital D and not alower case d. Alas woe is me.
Rosey and Summer I am so sorry to see the both of you leaving. I miss Dana and her jumor as well as chating with my friends here. I am just at a loss for words. I am so heart broken now I am in tears. Jason left for a few hours and I was glad then I was able to cry being as I am losing my friends here. It is silly but I love and adore all of you.
I do understand Rosey how hard it is to post each and every day and noone responds like we should. I admit with turning 40 last week I have been depressed over it and my weight. I had such plans to be thin by now. Here I am fat as ever and in a deep depression. I felt as if I had no rights to be posting here being as i was not trying like all of my ladies here. I miss having Ann posting also and wish her the best. I am going to start a new thread with a new name combining this and my other thread. I hope you all will reconsider and join me once again.
