Dear Susie: Thanks for the welcome! I hope you enjoy the concert. I live north of Toronto. They were just here and I missed it! I would have loved to have gone. Enjoy it for both of us! I've heard that about the skin thing before. I hope there's some truth to it because it sure is coming off slowly! I'm hoping that I've lost a pound this week because I've done really well. I want to be under 200 sooooo bad!

Well hello ladies (and welcome to the newbies)! I can't believe it's been since Friday that I was last in here.... I'm such a slacker! I mean I didn't slack off on my exercise and eatting, but I had no real reason to be MIA except I haven't been much in the computer/typing mood.

I went to the New England Country Music Festival on Saturday. It was all day at Gillette Stadium and it was awesome. Scotty Emerick, Gretchen Wilson, Jodi Massina, Montegomery Gentry and Toby Keith....definitely a good time! I even went to the gym before heading out there, and I didn't spend the day snacking on this and that.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and a good Monday (as far as Mondays go anyways)! :goodvibes

Hey! Where is everyone?! I was MIA yesterday also.

I was a very tired girl yesterday. We got home from the Sting/Annie Lennox concert (which was awesome by the way! I knew it would be good, but I didn't know how good; I would pay to go again, and again) at 12:30 the night before, and I have to get up for work at 5:30 a.m. That's not very much sleep!

I was a little grumpy by the time I got off work; and I decided to skip my workout, so that I could eat dinner early, and get things cleaned up and get to bed early. I did just that and I'm feeling a little better this morning. I overate somewhat last night. I think I tend to to that when I'm tired because I'm trying to get energy, instead of just resting.

Hope everyone has a good day. I'm looking forward to my workout tonight.

I've been thinking of changing my workout routine. I currently walk for 30 min every day, then one day I do strength training for upper body and the next day for lower body.

Then I stretch. This routine takes me about 1 hr and 15 min. That's really about all the time I have to devote to working out. I work a full time job, go to school part time, plus I'm married (no children) and while my husband helps out alot around the house, the majority of things do fall to me to see that they get done or headed in the direction of getting done.

I've thought about maybe doing one day of cardio and stretching only, then the next day a full body strength training, and repeating that.

What's your thoughts on this?

Susie

Okay, so congrats to everyone on their fabulous progress! I'm so happy that everyone is doing well. However, I feel like I am flailing in a big way. I only started my work out regime three or four weeks ago, and I've been the the gym 4 times a week in the time. But nothings happening. Well, I've increased my stamina. Sometimes my legs feel stronger. But I don't look different. The scale doesn't say anything different. And I understand that I need to be consistent for a couple more weeks and thats its early and I'm being unrealistic, but I'm getting frustrated and less willing to go. I need to buy a book on cd and only listen to it when I'm on the elliptical trainer, but I haven't yet. And I'm eating bad, which I understand is why I'm not seeing results.

Anyone have anything motivating to contribute?

praytherosary822 07-27-2004 09:10 PM

Hello Pseudobrillance. SOrry you are having such a hard time. You are here with us so that is a start. Have you measured yourself, you may be losing more inches than pounds. You may want to talk to someone at the gym who can tell you if you need to change what you are doing. I am reading a great book, well actually, it's 2 books in one, it's called The Thin Book(s), it's about a woman who has been there, the first part shows you how to have a more positive attitude and develop better self esteem and the second part is a daily motivator. Unfortunately it does not come as an audio book. Hope this helps. Know that I pray for everyone on this site daily. God Bless.

Hey, anyone got any suggestions to jumpstart the old weightloss routine? It's getting well...routine. And I have been having slow progress lately....lots of plateau, very little loss! Does anyone have any suggestions? I've thought about a change in diet, but I'm just not up for anything except low calorie...I've been thinking about weight lifting. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Pseudobrilliance 07-28-2004 01:00 AM

Weight lifting is suppose to be really awesome for a kickstart. We have a toning class I'm really afraid of here. I might go. How much weight lifting is sufficent in a session?

Kamitwi 07-28-2004 02:52 AM

I dunno, I've been reading a lot about it online, and there are lots of 'programs for beginners' but I guess you're supposed to do several exercizes (the part I'm having trouble deciding about) and do 2-3 sets of 12-15 to start with. I'm really flailing here, gotta read more about it!

praytherosary822 07-28-2004 08:29 PM

Kamitwi. If I remember correctly from my gym days, your 2-3 set for 12-15 reps is a great place to start. Just for your information, if you want to build muscle do few reps with heavier weights, it you want to tone do more reps with lighter weights. Remember muscle weighs more than fat so you may see the results more on the tape measue before the scale. Hope I helped. God Bless.

Hello Everyone

Sorry to have not been around the past couple of days. I was just extremely busy at work; I still am, but I thought that it was important to take a little time for myself, so I'm taking a break and reading the board.

I see that the board hasn't been that busy. Summer time takes up a lot of our time doesn't it?

Last night at the gym, my workout partner and I were a little tired of the same old routine in the weight-room, and the aerobic room was empty so we went in there and did our strength traing routine with the exercise bands and the medicine balls and the big exericse balls. It was fun to have a change of pace and I know it was good for our bodies.

How is everyone doing? Has anyone had good luck at the scales this week? I'm weighing in tonight. It's going to be iffy. I'm hoping to have stayed the same. I know that when I allow myself to become tired and run down, the first thing I start doing is overeating. I did that on Monday and part of Tuesday, then I got myself back under control. I hope I didn't do to much damage.

Well, I hope everyone is having a good day. Just wanted you to know that I'm out here, supporting all of you and knowing that I'll get that back from my buddies here. :goodvibes

praytherosary822 07-29-2004 10:03 PM

Hello My Choice, good luck with the weigh in, let us know how it went. Hubby and I are not going to have a good weigh in this week, but we have started walking again and on our days off we will go bicycle riding as soon as it is daybreak.. Good Luck and GOd BLess.

MyChoice2bfit 07-30-2004 01:38 PM

Sigh :( I was up a 1/2 a pound last night. I know it's not a lot, but I'm upset about it because I did it to my self. I KNEW if I went ahead and bought those cookies I couldn't control them and that it would show on the scales..and yep..it did.

Well...I can eithier sit right at that number on the scales, or I can once again make up my mind to get back on track and make it happen. I'm going to choose the "make it happen". I don't want to be a plus size anymore!!

OK..I know what to do...just do it...just log the food, drink the water, do the exercise, breathe...just do it. It won't happen by dunking those cookies in milk.

How is everyone else doing? Looking forward to the weekend? I sure am. It's the first weekend I'm not working in 2 weeks. My DH is off as well.

I've been cleaning a room a day in my house every day after work and it's going to be so nice to start the weekend with a clean house. I'm even planning on sleeping in a bit tomorrow.

We have plans to go to a Homearama on Saturday. I'm looking forward to "seeing how the other half lives".

Sunday is my company picnic..that should be fun.

So, it's going to be a busy weekend for me.

Susie

Hi everyone! Not allot going on here. Still walking every night and TRYING to watch what I eat...man it's hard! There are so many temptations EVERYWHERE now! The gas station I go to all the time now has ice cream and shakes..ugh! So far...I've been good!

I'm back up to 244 and I'm mad at myself too....I have been trying though so hopefully next weigh-in I've lost something....Don't worry about the 1/2 lb. Just get back on track and try to be good....Oreos and milk are my weakness...hmmmmmm :( I want some!!

Have a great weekend guys!!!

praytherosary822 07-30-2004 09:04 PM

Hello Susie and Shan, well at least you can take comfort that you are not the only ones disappointed in yourselves, I join that club also. Hubby and I are walking with the dog every morning and when we are off we will try and do 4 miles or more of bicycing. Anyway have a blessed weekend. God Bless.

MyChoice2bfit 07-31-2004 12:38 PM

Pray and Shan: We can change the fact that we are happy with ourselfs by not giving up and trying to not make the same mistakes over again. I KNOW WE CAN!

I got up this morning and went for a walk, then came back and did some relaxing stretches that I found on line. I would like to start doing some yoga, I have a medical condition that would benefit from learning to relax a little more (but then again, wouldn't we all benefit from that?!) I thought I would start off with the simple poses that I found and printed off this week. Wish my gym had a yoga class.

We are getting ready to go to a Homearama. It's so fun to go look at those big beautiful houses. Then we are meeting some friends for an early dinner.

The sun is out here and it's so nice after last nights storms. I'm looking forward to the day!

Have a good one everyone.
