Boy, that cheesy bread is good huh? So much better than plain garlic bread.

I have to say though, I am a bit discouraged. I have been to the gym 5 times last week working out for 45-60 min each time and that doggone scale won't budge!!! She's holdin steady at 230.

I do notice that I have a bit more room in my jeans but I was really hoping to see a few pounds gone at least. I know that it would give me the motivation I need to keep up the exercise thing. I guess I have to rethink my eating. I haven't been terrible, but not as good as I should be. I have a terrible sweet tooth so I have substitued low fat ice cream instead of regular and I have one serving per day. I think I am going to have to cut it out altogether.

Maybe I should go on a hunger strike? I can protest...oh I don't know....the color orange?

Anyway, you keep up the good work. What are eating by the way? The usual but smaller portions? That's what you said earlier.

On a lighter note, will you be watching the Oscars tonight? Billy Crystal is hosting ( I think he is the best host). He just so freaking funny

Enjoy your weekend, I'll talk to ya later.

Lynn

Lynn,
Don't talk about the cheesy bread you'll make me want some

What was your highest weight? I was wondering how much you have lost.
Don't forget that even if that scale stays put you could still be losing inches and not pounds. Maybe you should not weigh yourself for a week if your getting discouraged.

5 times! oh my god I would be so burned out on working out. 230, well I'd sure love to be there again. I'm so high up there now it is discouraging for me when I think how long its going to take to get back down.

I also love the sweet stuff. Try not having your icecream I think that would help. Even if it's low fat it's prob. still bad all the good stuff is.

I don't have any set eatting plan like that low carb. Cr*p, or no fat cardboard. I eat everyday food just smaller portions. Like I love to have an eggo waffle & orange juice for breakfast, a Turkey sandwich (low fat thin turkey slices), pop, and veggie sticks w/a little uncle dan dip. for lunch. And chicken in a bed of white rice, fruit cocktail and pop for dinner. Snack: fig newtons.

No Oscars for me tonight I'm not much of a t.v. watcher.

Hey,

Don't get down about yourself, you are doing great. At least you can say you lost 13.

I think I may TRY not weighing myself for a week or as long as I can resist. I was reading a post from another thread and this one guy says that he weighs himself every two months!! I don't know if I could wait that long but I see the logic.

Yeah, I think I'll have to kiss the ice cream goodbye. If I have a bad craving I will go to the local convenience store and buy one serving. No sense in have a whole box in the house (which is too hard to resist).

Anyway, you sound like you are eating good. Keep it up!!

Talking Hallooooooooo out there

Hi girls! So nice to meet everyone.

Lynn, thankyou for the invite over. This seems like the perfect group for me. Have you taken your measurments? Like Alexia said, you could be losing inches and not pounds right now and that is just as good. Maybe if you take your measurments and check them weekly, you will see the difference and that will help you keep your motivation.

My DH was a boxing trainer and knows a bit about fitness and he told me that excersizing 4-5 times a week is plenty, any more than that and you will just be burning yourself out without accomplishing anything extra. Have you tried a different workout routine that targets different parts of the body than the ones you have been using? Sometimes that will break a plateu too. If you have a membership at a gym, have you asked anyone there for some ideas? I know most gyms here have personal trainers you can ask. Sorry, didn't mean to babble

Alexia, you must be my clone! We seem to think exactly alike about this stuff. I am 23 and need to lose exactly 86lbs. I only take my measurements and weigh myself on Sundays so I'm not staring at the scale all week and getting discouraged. I am also following my own eating plan. I want to make changes for a lifetime, not just right now, and I am addicted to food too much to cut out carbs and what not. I eat very small portions about 6 times a day instead of 3. Seems like in the past the more often I ate, the more weight I lost. When I starve myself, I gain.

I only eat what I can fit on a salad plate. It makes less seem like more. Plus I eat all the salad I want. If I go out to eat at a fast food place, I get everything in small size and at a restaurant, I immediatly put half my entree into a to go box. I eat whatever the family eats, its way easier that way financially and cooking wise and all that, but I make sensible choices. I cook mostly with water or non-stick spray and no salt or sugar for myself. It's really not as bland as it sounds. I drink flavored green tea so I can have it without milk and sugar and other than that I drink water, water, WATER!!!! I have gotten myself up to at least 64 ounces a day. If I want a soda, I drink either half of one, or the little 4 oz cans.

I excersize 4-5 times a week. I usually leave out Mondays and thursdays because those are my days I go back to work, but sometimes an extra day slips by. I don't have time for a gym but I do have lots of excersize stuff here. I change up between Tae Bo, Pilates, yoga, my bun and thigh rocker and walking outside when weather permits. Basically whatever I have time for and feel up to doing. With so many choices its hard to set myself up for failure.

Whew.......anyways, now that you are all asleep. I guess I will catch ya later! Thanks again for the invite, hope I didn't babble you all away.

Hello ladies:

I have not been measuring but maybe I should start? I still have no weight loss to report !!! But I will keep up the exercise, I figure the scale HAS to drop at some point. I just wish that needle would move a little!!

By the way, what is DH? Dear Hubby? I see alot of people use that.

How are you doing Alexia? You are off to a great start...keep us updated.

Talk to ya later.

Default hi guys

Hi everybody. I'm responding to your invite on the buddy up board.

Alexia, 13 lbs., that's great! I was down 9lbs but after my birthday weekend, I was up 1.5 lbs. I'm have a problem getting on the scale too much. Randi(clnnymamma) is trying to help me with that. I'm trying to stay off it til Sunday I had mentioned in an earlier post that I was able to get into a pair of jeans that didn't fit, without using plyers for the zipper

Lynn, kudo's to you for all that exercise. I am a morning person, but lately I cant fall asleep and I'm not getting up early enough to exercise. Nights are just hard for me, though I should try. Oh yeah, dh is dear hubby or husband

Hi Randi, I know how busy you are. And noooo, I didn't get on the scale today. But I don't know if I can make it to Sunday I will talk to you tomorrow I hope.

Well I think eating is ok. Sticking to my plan, but got to get moving. I am also looking at 10 lbs goals. but at least 10 goals. Well we have to keep each other up. Lynn will be the exercise coach Randi the scale police and Alexia the voice of reason and I will......................
try not to whine too much only kidding....I will be here to help, listen or do what ever I can. Thanks everyone

I really do appreciate you all!

Hi everyone!
Well, I know what you mean about getting on the scale to much. When I'm losing weight I hop on everyday. Right after I get up and before breakfast it helps me because when I see that I'm starting to gain I try to control myself that day.
Not only should you measure, whip out your digital camera and take some pictures. Just make sure you leave your face out of the body pictures you don't want to end up on some web site porn someday. ha haha Nothing is better for inspiration than seeing your fat bum stuffed into a pair of pants you used to slid right on.
Cinnymamma, I also like to cook with water or non-stick spray and no salt or sugar and sometimes I leave out the butter. I buy the good for you cereal that tasted great with no sugar, Cook my eggs in water, and eat my rice without the salt, I'm used to it now and it's better for you that way.
My birthday is next month and I'm dreaming about those sugary flowers of goodness already The best part of any b'day cake is the flowers Mmmmmmmm flowers. Flowers! flower! flowers!

Question

Hi Donna!!! I was wondering when you would wander over.

I wish I had a digital camera, but I do have a webcam so maybe I can sneak in some shots. It just depresses me so much to look at myself right now. My son is 2 years old and I still wear maternity shirts. I just can't bring myself to buy anything new and see what my real size is. I am out of the pants though. Knowing that size is scary enough! A whopping 22 I haven't been able to excersize this week so far either. That's ok though, I'm not going to get down on myself. It's the first week and I have majorly changed my diet so all is not totally lost. There is still the weekend too and the weather has been gorgeous. I know I will get out on the weekends. This week has just been so hectic in the mornings.

Donna you can make it to Sunday!!! If you want maybe we could start off with a twice a week weigh-in, if that will make it easier on you. I might be the scale police, but I'm not the warden.

Lynn, I wish ya lived closer, I could use an excersize buddy. I hate working out alone. I am going to dig out my portable cd player and cd's and get cracking though. I can't expect too much to change just by diet. And if it did, what would I do with all the loose stuff. Ewwwwwww.

Alexia, Happy early Birthday in case I forget. I always wondered who ate the flowers on the cake. I'm not a big sugar person like that so I always try to get the piece with the least amount of frosting on it and then scrape that off too.

I have noticed I have been getting some nasty headaches every afternoon since I started this diet. I am going to post about it as soon as I find the proper forum and see if anyone has any advice or ideas about why. I am drinking at least 64 oz of water a day (and boy is that potty familiar now ), plus a cup of green tea in the morning for the caffiene. I am feeling satisfied when I eat, just not full and Im hungry like every 2-3 hours so I do eat like 5 times a day. I am wondering if I cut out too many carbs.

Any thoughts? Here is the link to my post, if you are interested. headaches

Default Spring challenge

Hi everyone. Well I had a complete breakdown yesterday Yes Randi, I got on the scale. I went up, up & up. I was OP the whole time, just not exercising. That really thru me into a downward spiral and I landed in a big bowl of pasta w/Italian bread & butter. I paid dearly with a headache, stomach ache and cried for hours( I am not usually like that, this was worse than usual) It's just that I worked so hard at staying OP and to go backwards, I just couldn't take it. And of course living in a house full of guys(that I love dearly) doesn't help when I'm depressed. So the scale has been banished to the attic and I will get back on program and no more binging no matter what I have to do I go for blood work monday morning and I will try to make arrangements to get weighed in there every week. (since my scale has been banished ) Have an appointment to go get hair cut and colored today. Maybe that will help give me the lift I need So, I think I will take the challenge to lose 7lbs by april 1. (hopefully I will lose or maybe just be an april fool) But I think it's worth the effort. Thanks for listening.

Awwwwwwwwww Donna! Its ok, I had the worlds biggest meltdown too, binging and then crying and hating myself for it. It's ok, dont let it get you down. The big thing is to get right back up, dust yourself off and go for it again! We aren't super humans and can't be expected to go through this without a setback every now and then. It's ok and you shouldn't beat yourself up about it.

2 hours after my big binge and breakdown, I found the new Atkins book. I am going to try it. It sounds so perfect for me. I know the first week is going to be extremely hard, but after that, it should fly. If I can quit smoking, I can kick this food addiction too!

I, too, take your challenge Alexia!!!! To 4 (including Lynn) gorgeous 7lb lighter bodies by April 1st!
