Hello all!

Isnt it amazing how the warm weather motivates us to do so much more??

DH and I were doing something outside even b/4 daylight yesterday until 9pm...even got 3 flats of strawberries cut and into the freezer....!
That's one thing about spring/summer....the fresh vegetables are so good!

Thought of the day :

"Thank someone today just for being in your life."
--Life's Little Instruction Book

Question of the day :

"Do you wear sunscreen?"

****

So, let me follow the thought of the day!
Thanks to everyone, even the lurkers for being here! We could post all day, but its knowing that someone will read that post that makes all the difference!

So....

if no one minds!! I had a big NSV yesterday that I still am having a hard time believing!
DH and I were in a GoodWill looking for jeans for him to mow lawns in ( the weedwacker really stings when it gets bare legs)..... and I saw a nearly brand new pair of jeans for myself BUT in a size smaller than I've been wearing...

Now, I know every maker's sizes are different BUT......
I was able to zip them up!!!!

When we got home, I tried them on for DH to see and he said
"Don't know why you can't wear them now...
they don't seem too tight to me"....
( Well, only if you bend over or eat!)

So......
Even though the scale has been moving very slowly for me.... its the those other numbers that are rewarding me! And now I am super motivated to make this smaller size fit better!

So.....yes, even if it does cost a little, we should really be wearing the size that fits us... because our brains are so programmed to the "bigger" reflection in the mirror... And some of us ( And I mean me!) are slower learners than others!
I met another lady yesterday who was showing me shoes that were really too big for me... so I told her that 8.5 used to be my size but now I 8.5 seems too big.... she wanted to know how long it took me to lose 50 lbs and how I did it..... So of course, I told her how I think WW's is the best plan and the best its EVER been....But when I told her its been a 3 yr journey.. her face fell... so I just had to say it.... even though I figured she had heard it a million times...
"I didnt gain 50 lbs all at once"...

Thanks for listening.... Its a real change in perspective for me...
And I know its just a number, and maybe even mismarked... ( but they really are too tight to put anything in the pockets!)

And besides which! If I'm not impressed with myself... who is going to be impressed with me??

Kettle is on!

Amarantha2 04-18-2004 10:07 AM

Yowza, :queen: K, that's great about the NSV jeans ... I bet they look great on you ... you are right about us seeing ourselves in a larger size than really fits ... I think that's true especially in jeans, which IMO are supposed to be worn on the formfitting side!!!

Going to report my tiny scale loss (but I'm happy with it) on the challenge thread!

Avanti!

deleted2 04-18-2004 07:13 PM

Congrats on the new jeans, Kaylets! It's great to have that kind of "proof", isn't it?

And congratulations to our Empress for her 1/2 pound down---wish I could get some of that action!

85 degrees today. Garry and I are really into the decluttering and deep-cleaning thing lately---wonder if that counts as exercise? I hope so!

I thought of you and your magical patio today, Anagram, when we had breakfast out on the deck today! :D First of the season!

Amarantha2 04-18-2004 07:41 PM

Yup, it counts, :queen: E!!!! :)

Cerise 04-18-2004 08:45 PM

Hello, darlings.

Quick fly-by as Mum's driving over to visit and I haven't cleaned the litter box yet...

You guys seem to be having a lovely weekend! I'm thinking about and missing all of you, but it was so great to stop by and read about your lives.

Yesterday I hogged the laundry room and did 7 loads :yikes: . Why do I leave the laundry for so long??? It's nice, though, to have gotten it done. Ramon did up all of the misc. dishes today and the place got a good dusting, so we're ready for The Ma to get here. Well, she doesn't care about the state of our home, but I do. You know how it is.

I also had a $100 gift certificate to Nordstrom from my boss (I wasn't elegible for the bi-yearly bonus that everyone else got, and she felt bad. I'm so bloody lucky in my job) to spend, so I went to the downtown store (a 7-block stroll - I LOVE this place!!). I desperately needed new bras, so I mentioned it to the lingerie salesperson and she frog-marched me (OK, not quite) to the fitting room, stripped my top half down and fitted me for a bra. I mentioned that I was probably a D cup. She didn't exactly chuckle or anything, but shook her dreadlocks (did I mention that I LOVE this town?) emphatically and told me in no uncertain terms that I'm a G cup :stars: and proceeded to insert me into the right bra. Uh, wow. It's an amazing thing to actually wear a bra that fits, isn't it? Elementary, you say, but not for a size 40G who doesn't really want to know how big her tits are. I don't look bigger in a bigger bra, a fear of mine, just perkier and my gazungas are higher up. I blew that $100 fast, let me tell you, but I look good . My posture's revolutionized.

All right. Enough about my jublies. :D

I'll respond to posties tomorrow, dears, but must get to the cat box now. You're certainly in my heart, all of you, and it was lovely chatting.

Kisses,

Kaylets 04-19-2004 06:47 AM

Hello all!

Decided to celebrate and wear another smaller size pants I found yesterday....
Figure the motivation is needed on Monday... and besides ... Why shouldnt I look as good as I feel???

Need a little extra stress relief for Monday!
Stress relief at zero points!

"Do you wear a watch?"

KETTLE IS ON!

PS- At 5:30 Scale said one pound down, at 6:15, the same as last week....
So you know which weigh in I'm taking...
And then of course, there's tonight's weigh in at meeting!

Hmmm-- Cerise-- now you have me wondering if perhaps I 've been mis-sizing myself too..... or was... I have to admit ( although I've never looked in the good department stores) ... have never seen a "G" cup.... And yes, I can relate about the posture.... can relate on many levels...in fact, since middleage spread has made this weight loss come from the hips and thighs before the torso, there are some outfits that are actually make me appear top heavy...and not in a flattering way .... almost like in a cartoon...
but again...

It doesnt matter where we get our motiation does it? As long as we stay motivated!
In fact, a few friends have suggested that I don't need to lose anymore, that I look just fine now..... but I know exactly where this last 20 lbs is.... and its not hiding!!!

Anyway....

DS came home about midnight by the state troopers as he was in an accident after we had gone to bed. His version of the story is that he remembers nothing after 5 pm.... that he must have been "slipped" something to make him "un sober"..... Car was towed away... accident involved another car... DS was very shook up and became more so as he wasn't getting any sympathy from DH. Began telling DH that the " cops say I should go to the hospital....cops say the car can be repaired".....

hmmmmm.....the cops were just glad to get rid of you after cleaning up your mess and having to drive you 30 minutes from their jurisdiction...

Wonder which tv show the "someone must have slipped me something" came from....

So, Dh only got about 4 hrs sleep and I didnt get much more....

As far as I know, the other driver did not need medical help...

Have a good day!

anagram 04-19-2004 09:21 AM

' Morning, Monarchs. Congratulations, Kaylets, on another lower sized pair of pants. yes, all the motivation we can get on Mondays! Sorry you have a need again for all the forebearance a person can gather. Lack of sleep is not a good start to the day.

Though for myself, unusually, I've only had about 5 hours or so. Was SO tired coming in from DDs last evening that I had a good, solid nap and then made the mistake of two cups of caffeinated tea. I did put the next hours to reasonably decent use but the big thing was that I was feeling so great I felt it was worth it to keep going until 3 a.m. no matter how I felt this morning. Thing is I feel great so far today as well. Just caused dh a little concern as I decided to sleep in another room when I finally wantdered upstairs.

Oh, Eydie, I'm jealous. It's nice enough out this a.m. for the magical patio but we didn't get it ready yet (that was planned before the communications mixup re the weekend).

Cerise, I also am not familiar with Gs though I knew of FFs (though not from personal experience). Good posture a real plus!

I'd have let them see me sweat too, Empress. Lugging stuff in heat and things being all bollixed up are not my idea of a good time, either.

How'd the painting go, Punkin? What color for this bathroom?

Sending hugs to wsw and hoping for a steady gain in strength and a steady loss in weight for you.

Hi there, Wood Nymph, howsit? And Wildfire, is it new job time yet or soon?

All others, come out, come out whereever you are.

QODs: yes I wear a watch whenever I leave the house. Rather anal about promptness and intend to remain so. It's no longer cost effective for dh and I to have a garden. We do live in an area filled with farmers' markets, etc. and used to laugh at ourselves sometimes for the work we did when we could go "outcountry" and pick up a bushel of something for a couple of dollars. I do think the taste and nutrition and satisfaction are worth it though. Yes, big on sunscreen. Have had several bouts with skin cancer. A lot has changed about me through the years but I remain fair skinned and ever so slightly freckled.

Off to the shower and on to a good week.......

Arabella 04-19-2004 10:20 AM

Fly-by: Hello, it's me-me-me-me!

I keep coming in and being overwhelmed at the thought of responding to all the wonderful messages in here. Can't do it, so *sigh* here's more about ME :p Maybe I can come in and respond to people in dribs and drabs...

Somehow, we've gotten to the end of the financial quarter, which I sort-of forgot about and now my moonlighting job is going to take up a couple of days a week (and likely 14-hour ones, at that) for the next few weeks. I keep thinking I should quit that one, but it's not that much work other than in the reporting season. And it will add a couple of $thousands to the household income this month. Sigh. I think I'll have to buy self a gift as well, to make up for the torture.

Meanwhile, at my real job, the two other people that run our site are off to a convention this week and again next week, so I've got the administrative stuff to do besides writing. On the bright side, I won't have to spend the day emailing and IMing with them, which takes up huge amounts of time.

And one of my sisters had signed us all up (7 of us) in November to sing in a "Sisters for Oncology" benefit for the Onc. dept. at the hospital. And then we found out a week ago that it was to be last night. Frantic preparation, learning lyrics, working out harmonies. It went well, I think, but was loooooooooong, went way past my bedtime and I was zonked when I got home but unable to sleep, read, or do anything else. Glad it's over!

Otherwise, coping. DS is coping, too. I was wondering if anyone takes essential fatty acids? I saw Dr. Weil recommends them for schizophrenia (my son hasn't been diagnosed, but that's what the meds he's on are for.

Going to WI at noon. I actually think I've lost a few. However, yesterday I drank buckets of water which I thought would help and I seem to be hanging onto it for dear life instead. We shall see...

Amarantha2 04-19-2004 11:07 AM

Yo! No daunting necessary, :queen: Arabella, dribs and drabs are great and IMO we are all responding to all of us anyhow, even though we may address specific people or topics!!! I, for one, am doing dribs and drabs on this thread and really like having the focus also of our food/exercise and sprint threads!!!

That, said, this is a fly-by and I'm not really able to respond to anyone and I'm NOT sorry!!! :) Gotta go to work in southern half of state and before I leave take this stupid loom I bought to a guy at the gym who is going to assemble it for me ... I was up at 3 a.m. trying to put in screws, etc., and feel like killing the staff that sold this thing to me!!!! So now I have to pay someone to do it, assuming that it's not defective and can be done!

Later, gators ...

QOD: I don't wear a watch, don't even use an alarm clock. I live by schedules and appointments, but I always seem to just know what time it is ... always have. Very weird.

I might just mention to thee Cerise that IMO you couldn't have spent that money better ... bras need to fit right, they just do! Most people don't wear the right size and it pays to be fitted properly. Your back will thank you later!

Punkinseed 04-19-2004 11:35 AM

Happy Monday mornin' everyone!

Weekend went *way* too fast again... ended up at our local Earth Day festival on Saturday instead of at home doing what I was supposed to be doing (painting). Oh well... They had the "Procession of the Species" (aka little kids and adults dressed like trees, animals, and bugs) and live drumming. I hung out at the booth run by a few of the women in my circle. I had a great time, but the best part was having one of those "I am loved" moments - It took me 10 minutes to leave because of all the hugs to give before I could go... I've become a freakin' social butterfly!!!! :fr:

Gonna be a tough week work-wise though... the mums and stepfather left for CA yesterday so I'm holding down the office AND taking care of the horses, dogs, cats, etc. (lions and tigers and bears, oh my!). :faint: They just left and I'm already looking forward to their return next week!!!!

Cerise, Congrats on the boob-ware! Nothin' makes life worth livin' like a good fitting bra... seriously! I've had the strip-down treatment before and once you get over the "what are you doing touching me?!?!?!?!!?!?", it's actually a great thing to have done.
Oh, and Goddess hair is eeeeeasy.... ever make play-doh snakes? Voila!

Anagram, no painting this weekend, too busy flittering around town and dancing to an awesome miramba band... but the color will be a very, very soft pale moss green - called "aurora" - it's on the same color sample as my bedroom, my room's the darkest of the colors, the bathroom will be the lightest. I'll get to it this week!

Arabella, I think they're essential fatty acids, I take flaxseed oil and evening primrose every night. Started right after mom was diagnosed with cancer... With your son taking them... couldn't hurt!

Amarantha, I'm so excited about your weaving! My old massage teacher used to spin her own wool for weaving too, what an old, lost art, that is! Always reminded me of Sleeping Beauty too. Sorry you had a bad time at your festival - too bad you couldn't have covered ours this weekend, it was fuuuuuuuun!! :cb: Link to the aforementioned Goddess sculptures was on my 4/15 post. And congrats on the loss!!!!! :cheer:

Sounds to me like Eydie telling us she's such an excellent cook is an invitation! I say we all have dinner once a month at Eydie's house! :hun:

Kaylets, congrats to you on that HUGE NSV! You'll be sitting and eating in those jeans in no time!! :cb: (and doing the banana dance too!) I'm sorry to hear about DS accident, thankfully everyone's ok at least.

Q o' the day - Nope, no watch. For some reason they bug me. I've tried... no problem wearing a bracelet, but ixnay on the watch! The other Q o' the day about sunscreen - yes, religiously, I'm a fair, freckled red head and also just found out my paternal grandmother (died in '68, before I was born) died of melanoma... I slather every day, rain of shine, and have for YEARS!

Well dahlings, must get to work since the mom-boss is gone... time to put her hat on as well! (the question is, which of her hats - :joker: or :drill: )

Smooches,
Terri

Cerise 04-19-2004 08:28 PM

Good evening, lovelies.

All right, you ladies who said you'd "never seen a G-cup". Gasp - a G CUP!!! Oh, God! It's not that big. The cup isn't much bigger (sticking out) than a D cup, but it's a lot...um...wider. The underwire arc is just bigger. It ends back well under the armpit, if you can picture it. I don't look monstrous or anything. :p

Punkin, it's so nice that you got some lovin' attention! I'll bet people line up to get a kind word from you. You're right about being handled by the salesperson - you'd think, when they reach under the cup to adjust your...you know, that you'd be like, "Y-A-A-A-A-H!!!", but it really ain't no thing. Though I guess you're hearing this from someone who routinely poses nude for artists, so. Grain of salt and all that. :D

Kaylets, wow! Have you ever shrunk. By the pictures you've posted, I can see an amazing difference! And those jeans look great on you! **just kidding, people. No pictures. I'm just trying to confuse Amarantha and hint to Kaylets to show us her stuff**

I'm sorry about DS's current tangle. I'm glad he's OK and that no one in the other car was hurt. Good luck to you and DH trying to work this out, luv. Thinking about you...:grouphug:

Amarantha, your loom situation sounds challenging but great! I LOVE spinning wool. I'm terrible at it, of course, but it's very zen. I can't wait to hear about your first tapestry/rug/woven underwear. Soooo, you're a former (or current?) flower child, heh? Boy, from the way you go on about your age I was thinking you were 80 or something. But you're just a boomer! Younger than my mom, thankyouverymuch. Not that 80's especially old or uncool, no, but you're but a bairn, yet. Anyway, I sense that it's time to shut up about your age... ;)

Please forgive my boisterous sense of humor tonight. I'm punchy. Work was ****. :dizzy:

Sheesh, Arabella, take it easy, OK? Whew. I wish I could've heard your number at the Oncology thingy. You never told me you're a singer!!

Ah, poor Anagram. You're such a sweet Mom to trundle up to a kid's party! Now, sleeeeep. Sleeeeeeep. :wizard:

OK, Eydie's got 80-degree weather and a deck?!? I say LET'S GET HER!!!!!!! Just kidding, honey, I'm happy for you. Just jealous.

I'm going to sign off before I make anybody too mad...

Big love,

Kaylets 04-20-2004 06:30 AM

Hello all!

Well, we seem t o be covering all topics of discussion lately! No one can accuse us of being boring!

As for the strawberries, didnt mean to confuse.... we bought them... they came in from CA... and are sweet as candy which is why we bought three flats...price was very fair too... my yard is very tiny... have tried strawberries for fun but really think I'd do better w/ spinach, lettuce, beans, -- other fast producers... I have blackberry bushes but the birds so far have gotten 99% of any fruit... But that was just the first year.. we'll see what comes this year..

This is a fun one... my scale at home gave me conflicting info yesterday am....WW's meeting scale at night showed 2.8 down....so...... am starting to wonder if bathroom floor upstairs is too unbalanced for scale to be accurate....
Used to be rumors that the WW's scales were all " a little different".... we have two to choose from each week but there is no way to know if the same one is always placed in the same spot...

Coincidentally, I found measurements of myself from Jan 11.... I was excited as I imagined today's measures would be very dramatic considering the smaller size pants.... NOPE... another "go figure"...
the only place showing more than 1" smaller is the bust....which is curious becuase I yet look top heavy....must have looked like the Leaning Tower of Pisa before!

So... again and again, my recurring theme...
perspective, walking a mile in someone else's shoes, folding right to left instead of left to right, etc, etc.....

Thought of the day :

"Remember that the best luck is usually experienced by those best prepared."
---Life's Little Instruction Book

Question of the day :

" Would you like to be taller?"

*****

Anagram-- this is a challenge! The Princess Larder must be made safe for your Grace! Perhaps you can suprise them with a special something "made just for you!" ( sugar free jello?? :?: :dizzy: ) ....
We must defend the purple suit! Would the princesses enjoy a royal outing to the produce market??

Empress-- Assembly is not one of my strong suits either-- clever of you to find a knight to address the issue!

Cerise-- My entire life has spent AVOIDING underwire... cannot bear it and cannot imagine why a man would think it would be comfortable .... I note we don't see men's undergarments with such contraption.....
Much less, in my experience, the wire is never big enough to offer any support...of course, I really needed a metal shelf.....

Punkin-- Of course you are the Queen of Social Events.... After all, isn't that the best part of Fridays??

Eydie-- How goes it?? And yes, cooking IS an art... take it from me who has been demoted to scullery maid for too many burnt skillets, soup pots and kettles....It reminds me of dance actually... although my problem is, I 'll be doing the cha-cha when the recipe needs a polka or a flamenco.....

Ceara-- Hey ! what's going on??? Havent you begun the new job??

Arabella-- GLAD to see you! I like Dr Weil too. but sometimes take him w/ a grain of salt.... he is sometimes contradictory... which is not always a bad thing... but you know me... I always try to back up my research!

WSW-- been thinking of you nearly every day... hope you can join us soon...
So much to say to you... am hoping the new place is just what you wanted it to be... here is a big kiss on the forehead for you and a big hug too! We are keeping your seat warm ! Do not think for a moment you have been forgotten! We have your Royal Flags hung right here in the center near the Maypole!! The valiant Knight has asked to carry your colors as he goes into the contest with the Handsome Knight!

Sorry, know I am neglecting someone... not to worry! We have tea for all!

KETTLE IS ON!

Kaylets, sorry to hear about the ongoing challenges with/for your son. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you and DH.

Arabella, tell us more about your performance--what did you sing?

Cerise, I wish that I had some of your boobage. I have to wear a padded bra just to balance out my rather robust butt.

Punkin, it sounds like you're having such a great time; I'm happy for you! And yes, open invitiation to come ove anytime! ;)

Where's Wildfire????????

Amarantha, just how big is this loom?

Anagram, hope you and DH are getting some rest.

Speaking of rest, I've been having some weird dreams lately. Nothing I can really remember, just disturbing little vignettes. [shudder]

ceara 04-20-2004 08:05 AM

Argh! Just finished reading the thread....didn't log out before I went away and everytime someone used the computer, this site picked it up and I had to find where I left off! :stress:

Vacation was good....too much food and not enough activity. Scale is way up :faint: but am on austerity programme now!

Heathens behaved well...no points but lots of fun. Have played ball with the younger ones already this am...have a Union meeting at 9, and then I need to schedule a suture removal for the rawhide queen and have pla rehearsal at 7. Geez. Thought I try and brush out a dog in there somewhere.....

Gotta go...no newpapers...hate 'em. Our local rag is good for that alone...washing windows  Sorry A!

Ceara

Cerise 04-20-2004 02:36 PM

Oh, I don't wanna be at work right now! I wanna be home...I hate days like this where your momentum at work is zero and you've only been there for 2.5 hours. Poop.

On a more cheerful (and mature) note, at least I've got tunes at work now! My speakers are so great here at the front desk that music sounds pretty darn good, even played very softly. It makes all the difference in the world to be able to listen to CDs that sound like good friends. Oof, I'm a weirdo, for sure. :spin: Right now I'm listening to the soundtrack for Stealing Beauty. An excellent compliation.

Good luck on the Austerity Programme, Ceara. I'm glad you and the doglies had a good time, dear, and that Madame Rawhide is doing OK. Poor thing. Sounds like your day's pretty crazy. Good luck! I don't like newspapers, either.

Ew, Eydie, I hate periods of weird dreaming. Maybe it's time you got your chakras realigned (sounds like we're some sort of car). I've never gotten it done, but Ramon has and he says it makes a huge difference. You feel "de-cluttered" somehow.

You know, it's ironic that you'd like some of my bosom size. I'm currently looking into reduction surgery because of my back, shoulder, neck and head pain. It's hard to look into something when the risk of being disappointed (I mean, if insurance refuses to cover it or I decide the risks are too great) is so high. But I'd sure like to get out of a G cup. Anyway.

Kaylets, you seem to be fated by the gods to get extremely conflicting reports from  scales. Take the lowest number and run! No, seriously, I only trust the gym scale, since it's always in the same place and on a stone floor. Even if it's not the correct atomic super-anal weight, at least I have a good chance of getting accurate relative weight, right? I couldn't go without an underwire, unfortunately. If the bra fits right you don't even feel it, and I can't do without the shaping aspect. From a feminist perspective, yes, it's spectacularly unfair, but I feel more comfortable IN one, so whattaya do?

QOD: No Way would I be taller. I'm already imposing enough with my large bosom. Besides, Ramon's just a smidge taller than me, and I'd hate to be taller than him. It's all about The Ramon, man. ;)

I like Dr. Weil, too. The only thing is that he's totally opposed to the consumption of peanuts and peanut butter, but I can't STAND almond butter, so I defy him every morning, nearly. He's certainly the most level-headed of all the nutrition authors out there, IMO. He seems to go on a bit about Omega-3, too, but I think he's right, and his whole Epicurean, food-must-be-thoroughly-enjoyed-for-health thing really resonates with me.

A-HA!!! I just figured out why I'm sitting at the desk staring into space so badly. I forgot my caffeine! Geez, you'd think I'd learn, huh? I've got my green tea now: sip, s-i-i-i-i-p. Ahhhhhh. :coffee:

Frogger, you must be in it up to your eyeballs. I hope you're lurking, honey, and reading about how much we think about you, dearest. Hopefully your little one's doing OK, and you've found either gainful employment or a substantial windfall. Ooh, here's hoping it's the latter... :crossed:

wsw, hope you're lurking, too. I hope you're comfortable, resting and surrounded by a restful, beautiful home. Relax and bask in our good wishes, luv. :grouphug:

Wildfire, how's the new job going? Are they treatin' you right, honey? How's DD? How's Pepper the Wonder Cat?

Punk, I had an Earth Day thought. I'm going to start looking into fabric pads and panty liners that you can wash and wear. Much more sustainable and hopefully effective. The stats about disposable pads and liners going into landfills is alarming. I'll keep you ladies posted, how's that? :p

Peace out, dearies.
