Came home early....had a tummy ache. I think it's mainly the chili! I just couldn't stand sitting in class any longer, then went to my last class instructor and told her I won't be coming in and got my work for the day and left!! So I'm home an hour early!
Jana--once again "WOW" I am just sitting here in awe! Congratulations girl...you deserve it. I am definately going to start the plan either Sunday or Monday. Sunday if the 1st, but I think Monday would just be easier. (don't know why.)
Today is James' grandpa's 99 birthday party.(at least I think he's turning 99,,, I will have to ask now...I'm doubting myself!) We will be going to it in a little bit. Can you imagine...celebrating 99 years! It was funny, a few years ago when he was in the hospital for a hip replacement, the nurses were going on and on about how this 96 year old had all his original teeth! I never thought of that as something to be proud of...but it is!
Cristi--James chili was good...too good. I can thank him for getting me out of school early!! My back is doing much better. Last night I tried to stretch and do some pilates, but the pain in my back spread up to my shoulder and neck and then I ended up with a huge headache that I couldn't stand! But I'm all good today---minus the belly issues.
Angie-- I can't even imagine how that must have looked! I'm sorry, but if I was there, I probably would have been laughing too hard to help you out! Isn't that terrible of me. But after I calmed down,... I definately would help...then just start right back up with the giggles!!
Kayecee-- You are just as funny. My goodness girls..what has gotten into you??!! If you plead hard enough, he may let you come back. But if you plead too hard, you may come out looking like some obsessed woman!! You girls crack me up!
Oh Jana...I'm still sitting here thinking about your loss! That is just so fantastic!! I'm so happy for you. And this is only suppose to be a one week thing? Makes you want to go on it for the first week of every month! Hmmm....something to consider.
Katie--Once again...welcome and I hope to see you more often!
Just got back from James' grandpa's birthday party. He is 99! They set up the activity room at the senior housing that he lives, for his birthday. Everyone shouted surprise. They had the local newspaper guy there. We didn't stay too long because James had to get ready for work.
While we were sitting there, they were comparing the changes of time within 99 years. They asked about his first phone. I nudged James and told him to pay attention because this is a history lesson!! He had to crank his first phone. And each family had their own number, his was 6. So if it rang six times, then he answered the phone. But if it rang and it wasn't your number it wasn't for you, but you could pick it up and listen in on the conversation! Also....it would take a whole day to contact New York!! Can you imagine waiting a whole day to make a phone call?? Boy times have changed. Wish we could have stayed longer to hear more.
Ok...that was all I wanted to pop in for...to share with you some history.
Marti~I think that is amazing that so many people are living longer now days, and in their 90's-100's. My DD and I were talking yesterday about this very thing yesterday. I said I wouldn't mind living to be 100 as long as I am in pretty good health and am not a burden to others. We also were in awe of the changes these people must have seen over the years. I remember the 60's even though I was young, and the 70's, each decade was different-I loved living in the 60's when life seemed so simple. But when you think of what technology is today-WOW! I just couldn't imagine going back farther than the 60's. Anyway, HAPPY 99th BIRTHDAY to James' grandpa! That is just too cool! Be careful Marti with your back-that pain doesn't sound to good. My back goes out on me once in a while and it is not a good feeling. I notice it more though if I gain weight. So be careful.
Not much going on, I am bored. Waiting for 9 pm to come so I can watch Monk. Then I will do a little more packing. Anyway, take care ladies I will check in tomorrow.
Good evening ladies...
I am so glad today is almost done...It was a tough one in the trenches. And my head still hurts where my hair was pulled in the chain male...
Ya know Marti I believe you that you would have been laughing hard then after would of helped me...lol
Jana you ROCK! I was reading an old People's mag this morning at an appointment and it was about these women that are half their size...one woman did it all on WW. We are talking like 200 lbs. There is a woman at work who has lost 84 lbs, and she was tellingme about this other woman in her meeting who lost over 200 lbs also...
Do you guys see that commercial for Subway? Or is that Canadian? There is a guy who lost lots of weight from eating these healthy subs... I hate subs...just doesn't appeal to me at all. Anyways I have been eating,,(when I have time) at this Extreme
Pita,,,and OMG I love the grilled chicken and tiziki (sound it out cause I know I spelt it wrong) its garlic and cucumber mashed together and ..mmmm it is soooo good. So I am eating healthy, told this guy I was the next Jerod (subway guy) but with the Extreme Pita...he liked that...lol
Well as usual I need to head to bed...
night all
Angie
Angie--yep, Jarods all over the place!! I love subs. I remember back in the day when I used to bike almost everyday or every other day (can't imagine doing that again) I would stop at subway where as the others would stop at McDonalds. I could have been the first Jarod!! But...then they would have to do another commercial on me about how I also discovered chocolate and pizza and other yummy foods and show that wonderful body change!!
Anyway.....just wanted to pop in and say "yes" Jarods here too.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes! Hope I'm posting this to the right part of the thread -- if not, please straighten me out and point me in the right direction
I've been reading through all the posts, trying to get to know everyone a lil' bit...
Jana -- WOW! 8.5 lbs is amazing! I'd be very interested in the WW FT plan, and also the Wendie info -- I have heard a little bit about Wendie, but don't know any details. Could I get that from you? The best success I've had in the past has been with WW; I think it was the combination of accountability, regular weigh-ins on a regulation scale (not my bathroom scale that is different every time I step on the dang thing), motivational speakers, and just the mutual encouragement. I can't fit WW meetings into my schedule right now, so I came here looking for folks to encourage, that will hopefully encourage me right back And yeah, I noticed we were of a similar height/weight, too. I haven't made it to Disneyworld yet (planned to go this year, but have to postpone), but I LOVE Disneyland!
Marti -- What are you studying in school? When I read your bio, I was under the impression somehow that Jhenai was a baby -- until I read the bra story She showed grace under pressure...a great quality for a young lady to have. I looked at some Pilates exercises -- whew! I'm too out of shape -- I need like...Baby Steps Gentle Yoga for Wimpy Couch Potatoes I have a desk job and have to sit allllllllll day tethered to a phone. The most exercise I get right now is walking to back and forth from my car -- which is actually quite a hike. Our parking at work is horrendous, and I often have to park a good 10 minute walk away from the building. Some of us refer to the parking mess as our "employee fitness program". There's a gym at work I could use for a very nominal fee, but I'm too embarrassed to work out in front of other people at my current size Maybe when I'm halfway to goal...
Cristi - I loved Sleepless in Seattle and While You Were Sleeping, too...even though my husband laughs at me for liking mushy "chick flicks". And I have quite a collection of animated Disney videos, too Like you, I have a 20 year old, but he's in the Air Force halfway across the country. Sure miss him, glad he finally got the internet. I'll check out the puzzle url you gave -- I love puzzles and lots of online games like the ones at Yahoo.
Kayecee -- Loved your Nantucket poem Our name is almost the same. And like Jana, our height and amount to lose sound pretty similar. I also love scrapbooking and yard saling...and my husband is also 6 years younger than me! Talk about coincidences. But...I met my husband on the internet -- has anyone else here done that? Salmon is my VERY favorite seafood. My husband can't eat fish, but I order it a lot when we go out to dinner. When I do get a chance to make it at home, I season it with black pepper, lemon, a tiny drizzle of butter or olive oil and this spice mix called "It's a Dilly" that has lemon peel, dill, garlic, and a bunch of other great stuff in it. Also great on steamed carrots and zucchini with sliced mushrooms.
For anyone else I missed...hi, and I'm looking forward to meeting you
Marti - the FT plan is meant to be done for 2 weeks, but I knew going in that I would only be able to do it for one. I'm glad you guys didn't scare poor grandpa to death, yelling Surprise like that, lol. Old people have so much to share and we can learn so much from them!
Cristi - your FT plan is in the mailbox right now, waiting for the mailman to pick it up. I wish I could join you during your Dr. Phil meetings! My Katie was hesitant to drive, and actully, I remember being afraid I would wreck or fail my test back when I did it. It was scary!
Angie - Jerod was an Indiana University student when he lost the weight! That is fairly close to me. Everyone has to do what works for them, I guess.
Katie - so glad to see you here!!! if you pm me your address, I will send you a copy of the Fast Track program and an explaination of what Wendie is. (or if you prefer, send your Post Office's addy, and I will send it there and you can pick it up.) I do WW at home, and weigh in on a doctors' scale that we bought awhile back. But before we had the scale, I went to the doc's office and the receptionist let me weigh myself whenever I wanted. If you are looking for a do-able exercise program, I suggest Walk Away the Pounds by Leslie Sansone Be sure to buy the regular 1 and 2 mile ones, then she also has some for abs. What I like about her is she is not especially thin, and not young. You can usually find these with no trouble at Target. (Tar-zhay, dahling!)
Kayecee and Shanna - where are you?? Did you finally do each other in? LOL!!
Well, as you can see, we haven't left yet. Neal is helping a neighbor with his furnace, and then has to run to town for more birdseed. I won't go until the birds have seed, because they are used to it, and I would worry all weekend.
All the talk of chili got me in the mood for it again, so I made a pot of it last night and put it in the fridge for tomorrow when we get home.
I am still on a high from losing so well, and will stay OP while we are gone. If anyone needs restaurant WW points, go to Dotti's and then click on restaurants. Although our own 3FC has a list which you should check out, Dotti's has every one you could think of! And some you never heard of! That's http://www.dwlz.com Just don't go joining in over there and forget to come back!!
Sorry I've been gone since Thursday. I was sicker than a dog yesterday. I went to school and prayed all the way there that at least 2 kids would be absent (but not for being deathly ill or anything) Sure enough, my 2 slowest readers were absent. So, I had like an hour of sitting there with my two other students, then and hour and a half of "paperwork" and swigging Pepto Bismol until lunch. I felt like I had eaten a pot of James' chili!!!! I barely made it through the day, then Tim came to pick me up and I laid down in the back of the van all the way home. If I had thought that I had a stomach virus, I would have stayed home, but we had gone for pizza Thursday night after having that tooth pulled on Wednesday, so I think it was more or less a combination of that and the codeine. Well, thank God me and Marti aren't in the same class somewhere or they probably would have evacuated a 5 mile radius!
Angie- All I can say is Forget what Marti said, I would have been grabbing my video camera and filming away to send into America's Funniest Home Videos- the X-rated version!!! Oh tooooo funny! Ain't no way I woulda helped you AT ALL!!! (Uh... no wait... I might have handed you a pair of scissors! ) LOLOLOLOL That makes me feel a WHOLE lot better about hitting on my dentist! LOLOLOLOL And Jarod's kinda old news here. I think we've been seeing him for AT LEAST 3-4 years. Glad he's gone to Canada to bug y'all!
Jana- All right woman!!!! 8 1/2 pounds!!! Way to go! And that's for one week or two? Can't wait until I get your mail. And congrats on the twins! Y'all must have a twin gene floating around.
Marti- Obsessed woman?!? ME?!? LOL Yeah I kinda feel like Miss Parker and her Boo! Have any of y'all ever seen that show? Glad you got your Powerpoint presentations done. Congrats! How's the belly? I woke up this morning and mine is ALMOST normal.
Katie- Welcome! Welcome! Welcome! Glad to have you on board! I'm gonna have to sneak over to the bios and catch up. How did you get the name Katiecat? When I was growing up, my dad's nickname for me was Cat and he called my brother Boy! I'll have to see if I can find some of that "It's a Dilly." That sounds good.
Cristi- Did you get much packing done? What kind of job are you looking for? Here's you some good vibes from me.
Well, I'm gonna get off here. I just watched a show called Clean Sweep and now I'm ALMOST in a spring cleaning mood. (notice I said almost ) I think I will try to battle my way into the laundry room and climb a hundred or so feet up Mount Washmore! Later Ladies!
