Marti~hope your day is special!

Just had to check in and send birthday wishes to Marti. I will check back later and post more. Have a GREAT day ladies! :)

FrouFrou 01-19-2004 03:57 PM

Okay, well I just lost my post again so I will try later this evening. I need to get things done today. So, hope everyone is having a good day. I'll be back! :)

Jane 01-19-2004 08:19 PM

Hi Ladies,

Kayecee - did you decide which vehicle to buy? I've never seen Texas Chainsaw Murders because it sounded too graphic for ME! Who would ever let their kid see something like that?!?!

Marti - Hope you have had a really good day! You deserve it! How's Jhanai? Hope the fever is gone.

Cristi - I take it your DS is fine after surgery. We missed you! Post us a long note whenever the computer will let you....

Hi to the others.

Well, I got the rest of my housework done this morning, and have to say it looks real nce. Now if I can just keep up with it! Except for the windows, my kitchen has been totally Spring Cleaned!! When we get some warm weather, I'll do the windows.

The lunch with my friend and her sister was really nice. They brought Subway sandwiches and then I served the WW Raspberry Fluff Pie. After they left, my sister Katie stopped in to see the playoom. She was the one with me when I bought all the stuff to use in there. So I've had a very sociable day!

Hope you all are having a good Monday. Talk to you tomorrow!
Jana

Hello lovely ladies!!

Today was a wonderful day. I spent it doing NOTHING! :D It was nice.

James got up early today to spend time with me before he went to work. He got up, left for a few, then came back with a cake and ice-cream!! I had a small slice and little icecream.....

My gifts from him were great. He bought me a pilates set, and another jacket. It looks the same as the one he bought me for Christmas, but it's demin instead of suede. I love that man!!!

So I'm happy. He even sang to me!!! That was sweet!!

I will post individuals tomorrow... Thank you girls for wishing me a Happy Birthday!!

Marti

Hi Ladies~

Okay, I am going to give this a try today and see what happens. MSN is acting goofy so I don't know...

We are having the worst time with trying to buy a house-I swear-it is turning into a nightmare. We had put an offer on this house last Thursday and waited the whole weekend to hear something. Finally did Sunday evening because the homeowners were too busy with the house they are trying to buy to mess with us-hmmmm, okay. So, we kind of came close to an agreement. We were trying to think things over because we don't want to jump into anything without thinking everything through. Well, this cap on FHA repairs they wanted we thought was too low and told them we wanted to go a little higher. So they were talking yesterday about this with our realtor and the guy just came out and said no. That's fine-we were trying to decide if we wanted to settle or not and wanted to take a day which this was yesterday and we would have given them an answer this morning. They had the gall to tell their realtor that they want an answer tonight (last night) or they were going to cancel the whole thing! WHAT! They took 3 or 4 days to get back with us and did not want to wait a day for us to think about things!? We told them if they want an answer tonight then the answer is no. From the beginning they have not been cooperative. We looked at it once and there is a room in the basement that was locked. So we wanted to look at it again and the room that was locked. They couldn't do it that day because they had a sick kid. We don't know who's sick kid it was because there were no signs of a kid living in the house, not even pictures. So we tried again and wanted the locked room unlocked. They still didn't. When we put an offer on it they said they would have the carpets cleaned and we said we wanted them professionally cleaned (didn't know if they planned on doing it themselves, because they have 2 cats and a dog. My son has allergies and those cats would kill him. They said they would except the basement. And it goes on and on, they have had an attitude from the beginning which I don't understand. So here we go looking again and the pickin's are slim. I told DH it wasn't meant to be so we will just move on. Okay, enough about that ladies, just needed to vent a little.

DS is doing fine. he has gone two days now without the pain pills. He was taking them just to be taking them and I asked him if he was actually in pain, he said he was sore. Of course he is going to be but I told him he should try to not take them unless he absolutely needs them. He is so bored being home. He is usually working 40-50 hours a week and then going to school. This semester he only needs 1 class to get his associates degree-finally! And he is taking an college algebra class and a marketing class.

Marti~glad you had a nice birthday. Enjoy your pilates tape. I have the Denise Austins pilates and man it is only 15 minutes long but after doing it you definitely can feel it! About Dean Koontz-I love him! Another good one is John Saul, also Mary Higgins Clark-she has some good mystery/love novels. For romance I like LaVryle Spencer, Sandra Brown, Bellva Plain and a couple others. I was in the DoubleDay book club for a while so I have lots of books, I just need to find the time to read them. I get in my moods where I don't read for a while and then start and will read 2 or 3 books a week. If it is a really good book I don't want to put it down until I am finished.

Kayecee~a new car! Let us know what you get when you decide. So sorry to hear about that little boy. It really breaks my heart to hear stuff like that, and he is only 6. :( How does DD like having her ears pierced?

Angie~I read the review, so nice. I would have loved to have seen it. When DS was going to OU (we lived in Norman, Oklahoma) we would go to their plays-they were actually pretty good. Hope DS gets the part in Little House on The Prairie-I too am a fan and still watch the reruns and have read all the books. DS even has some.

Jana~I think you asked for my birthdate a while back-it's May 12. Glad you had a great day yesterday. How was your spaghetti dinner Sunday? Spring cleaning, huh? I need to start packing and that's when my spring cleaning will start. I just don't know where to start. :dizzy: DH got me some 30 gallon tubs at Home Depot for $2 something. Theres some things I want to pack up but not get rid of. I am trying to de-clutter my house.

Shanna~a love bug HUH! I love the bugs, they are so cute! Probably why DB doesn't want to drive it. I am just afraid of small cars for some reason. There's a girl around here I see from time to time who has a red one with black spots on it, they are big and not a lot so it looks cute-I love it! Guess what her tags (license) read? LADYBUG!

Okay ladies I hope I haven't missed anyone, if so Hi. Didn't have problems posting this time. But when it got a little long I hit submit and then went to edit to post more, not sure I needed to do that but I didn't want to lose this post.

Hope everyone is having a fine day. Talk to ya later ladies. :)

Jane 01-20-2004 06:35 PM

Hi Ladies,

Marti - so glad you had a great day! Your gifts sound so nice! Cake and ice cream are a necessity for one's own birthday. :D

Cristi - hey, smart thinking to edit instead of post a long reply! There's more than one way to skin a cat, right? I think you'll be glad you aren't doing business with those house people. Makes me wonder what the heck was locked up in the basement? A meth lab? The missing kid?? Good luck with the search for another house - it's out there waiting for you somewhere. I'll post your b/d when I leave here....

I volunteered to watch all 3 of Mary's girls for about 3 hours this morning. She and Dale had a bad night with all of them, and he was lucky enough to have a job to go to, lol. So I told her to bring them all to me, and then rest for awhile. Even tho they were well behaved, I gotta tell you, I don't know how she does it day after day, caring for twin 19 month olds and a 3 month old! But she is young, which makes a big difference.

Nothing else is new here in Dullsville, lol. Talk to you later.
Jana

Marti 01-20-2004 07:59 PM

Hello ladies--

Cristi--I'm so glad to see you were able to post! Even if you have to edit...at least we get to see how you're doing! The last house you were trying to get...sounds shady! What could be behind those closed doors? What came to my mind was pretty much the same as Jana's. Could they be hiding "plants"? Why else would they be so secretive? But I could be jumping to conclusions on that...could have been dozens of things.... maybe it was in such bad shape compared to the rest of the house and they didn't want it seen thinking they wouldn't get what they're asking for. Plus the people sounded awfully rude to make you wait, then not waiting for you. Good idea to move on. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you find the perfect home! :crossed:

Jana--I was exhausted with just my one little one! I can't even begin to imagine three little ones under the age of two!! And then when the girls are in there teens!! Oh how that's going to be! I think you're wonderful to take the girls for awhile to give mom a rest. I wish I would have had that opportunity.

Today was my one class day. So it was easy. Went to the school early to chat with Shanna for an hour. Shanna.... I love yappin with you. You are going to have to come over sometime soon to help me map out some plans for my back yard! :D Right now, it doesn't look so good. But much nicer than my last yard!

Books. I finished that book I was reading over the weekend. I was happy, then I got sad at the end. Cristi... if you get the chance to read ODD THOMAS... do it. It's good. At the school, a woman had a table where she was selling all kinds of books. She had romance, Dean Kootnz, Stephan King...childrens books.. Hardback/soft covered.....any of them for a $1.00!! What a bargain. And they were in great shape! So I'm thinking of bringing some money tomorrow and buying me a couple of books. Making the decision of which one will be the hard part.

Ok ladies... I'm going to post in the twilight zone....then it's off to do some pilates, then homework. (like where my priorities are?)

Take Care
Marti

Cristi...call the cops and let them check the place out...of course do it at the pay phone and say you saw something not right there. Glad to know DS is on the mend.

Yikes Jana,,,is all I can say about Mary having 3 little ones under 2...Im tired just thinking about that.

Hello Shannon....

Well I have got to get to bed....
night all
Angie

Jane 01-21-2004 02:16 PM

Hi ladies,

Marti - I wish I lived close to one of you like you and Shanna do! How's the class going so far? Hope you find a good book or two. I am also planning what I want to put in my yard this Spring. I've got a lot of perinials but need more. For the shade, one thing I know I'm going to add is the new lavendar astilbe to go with the pink already there.

Angie - hope you got some rest. How's the job going?

I just got back from a funeral of a fellow church member. While I was there, I ran into an old friend and we are planning to do lunch one day next week. Funny how things work out, isn't it?

Tomorrow is Mary's b/d and her DH is fixing homemade pizza for everyone tomorrow night and he is also baking her cake. My son is working the evening shift, so he won't be able to be there, but the rest of us are going to help her celebrate.

Have a good day!
Jana

FrouFrou 01-21-2004 02:46 PM

Good afternoon ladies~

It has been so cold the last few days but today it is simply gorgeous! It is a little chilly but with the sun shining it feels good. :sunny: I'm glad we didn't get any snow last night like they were saying. I love the snow but it gets so messy and I have kind of enjoyed this warm weather we have been having.

Well, we are going to look at two houses tonight-wish us luck. :crossed: The one is brand new and I told DH we may just go for it. We will have to finish the basement, build a fence and plant grass but for the price it definitely would be worth it. We'll see what happens.

Marti~I honestly don't know what those people had in that room but our minds were wandering and wondering. They did tell us it was a 10 x 10 room and that's it. When we put an offer on it it was on a contingency (sp?) that we see that room. I don't understand the secrecy especially when they are trying to sell the house. Oh well, I wish them luck because with an attitude like they had it is going to be hard. This must be the month for book sales. The library had a sale also last weekend and if I didn't have so many books already that I haven't read I probably would have bought some.

Jana~I agree-wouldn't it be nice if we all lived close. Sorry to hear of your friend at church. :( Isn't it funny though how things turn out? You met an old friend-hope you guys have a great time/reunion next week. I had a friend who met her husband at a mutual friends funeral. How sweet Mary's DH is going to make pizza and a cake! What a man! You can send him over here when he is finished there. I need a cake baked for DD's birthday Monday. ;)

Angie~glad to see ya posting. Hope you're not running yourself ragged. You are like the energizer bunny-you keep going, and going, and going...please send some of that energy my way! :D

Kayecee and Shanna and the rest of you ladies MIA-hope to hear from you soon. Hope everything is fine with you all.

That's about all I have today ladies. I will check back later this evening and see how every one is doing. Take care and have a good one! :)

SqueakMouse 01-21-2004 05:02 PM

Just thought I would pop in and say hi to everyone. I am not MIA, I just rarely can think of anything to say on this forum. I do alot of the others though, like recipes, twillight zone, meals, etc. I am just terrible about feeling like I am butting in on others conversations. I don't know what the phobia is, but I don't want people to think I am rude. However, I guess I am going to have to do it every once awhile, otherwise people won't be able to get to know me. :-) I am not usually like this, ask Marti, I can talk her ear off all the time. I sometimes feel like I monopolize the conversation. hee hee. Anywho, I hope everyone is doing well.
Cristi: good luck on the house hunting. It can be very daunting and tiring to find something worth while.
Jana: it does bite that we are so scattered around the country and globe. I am very fortunate to be able to be close to Marti and have her as my friend. She is a wonderful person to know and hang out with. Maybe next year, we can get together with the group. I have always wanted to do a girls night out get together. I always thought that would be fun, since I have never really had a ton of girl friends. Oh well, never to late to start. :-) anywho, I better get going for now, because I feel myself rambling. Nasty habit of mine. :-) later

FrouFrou 01-21-2004 11:01 PM

Just checking in ladies.

Shanna~don't feel like you are butting in, because you are not. We want you to feel welcome and jump right on in. The good thing-you can talk about what-ever you want anytime you want. Thanks for the well wishes on house hunting-it is very tiresome to say the least.

Well, we didn't look at the houses after all. The realtor was in the middle of changing offices and had a last minute meeting at 4:30 so we are going to do it tomorrow. He had a meeting at 8:30 also so we couldn't do it later-the guy is literally all over the place. I don't think I could ever do that for a living-a lot of work involved.

Nighty, night ladies. I am turning in early tonight. I have a few errands to run tomorrow and want to get an early start. See ya

Marti 01-21-2004 11:20 PM

Just a quick post tonight...I have some catching up on homework.... :stress:

Shanna-- Cristi is right... you're not butting in....you're joining. And you don't even have to talk about what we're talking about. Anything will do. As you can see... I ramble on and on sometimes. (how do you all put up with me?)

Cristi--I hope you get a good nights rest....then you'll be all perky for house looking tomorrow...plus the errands you have to do.

Jana--I'm looking forward to doing the yard this spring. I just don't exactly know what I'm going to do yet. I will keep you posted though.

Angie--Thank you for the birthday wishes...now go back to bed and get some much needed rest!!

Kayecee--You have me worried....come back soon and let us know how everything is going with the tutoring.

Ok ladies... I need to get going. I'm going to post my menu then off to do homework.

Take Care
Marti

da fat n da furious 01-22-2004 10:26 AM

Believe me Cristi I am no energizer bunny.... Buying a new house is cheaper...its just more work when it comes to the basics like lawn and fences if you need them.

Im all congested today...yay I had volunteered to work a casino months and months ago...well they called in the marker and I worked for a full 8 hours...*hack the smoke almost kills me...and with just finishing the antibiotics for the lung infection...Im now thinking that was a totally dumb thing I did working the casino.
Shannon,,,please don't feel like your butting in...I don't feel that you are and I know the others wouldn't either. Ramble on any time...lol Cause believe me I can ramble with the best of them...lol

Say Happy Birthday to Mary!

Well I need to get ready for work...11 more shows....lol and then I get 7-8 months rest! I can come home at night...sleep any time I want except at work...lol

Good day ladies~

Why is it when you know you have to get up early you never get a good nights sleep? With me anyway. I tossed and turned all night long and probably only got a couple hours of good sleep. Oh well, at least I will sleep good tonight.

Jana~sending birthday wishes to Mary. Hope you guys have a fun celebration!
:hb: :gift: :hat:HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY! :hat: :gift: :hb:

Marti~how is school going so far? Are you liking it? We put up with you because we love ya! And it is not necessarily putting up with you. I enjoy all your posts and emails!

Angie~you are right, one reason we were looking at older houses. They already have the grass planted, a fence (which we need with our little dog), etc. which both can be costly. We put up a 6 ft. wood privacy fence a few years ago and it was costly, and we did it ourselves, DH, DS and myself. There's both positive and negative to both buying a new house and/or an older house. Either way it will end up costing about the same but with a new one we would have to do so much more to it. So many decisions when buying a home.

Hi Shanna & Kayecee! :)

Well, ladies I need to get some things done around the house before heading out again later. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day-take care. :grouphug:
