Stay at home moms #115?
Welcome to a thread full of fun and encouragement as we find a balance between healthy living and raising families. All are welcome
|
Good morning all.
I wasn't sure what number thread this was. I hope eveyone is having a good week. I have once again hurt my back, and it sucks. I am still trying to find a decent eating program for me. I would love to do weight watchers. but everything I find on ebay I am out bid on, or the price goes beyond my range. I will check back in later. |
Wow!!! This place is a mess!!! Ricci, sorry you hurt your back! I hope we are not bidding against each other on EBAY!!! :) I am trying to find a complete food companion for a friend but not a whole set so we are probably ok. I did look at some stuff that started out a great price but like you said, went way higher than I wanted to pay!
Anyhows, I've missed you guys the past couple days. Hope everyone is doing ok. Talk to you later! Candy |
Good morning everyone!!
Ricci, hope the back gets better soon. Candy, I'm with you. It's like withdrawal if I don't get on here to post!! I'm back to counting points and journaling and drinking water (bloat, bloat)! Gotta get those 4 pounds back off. I tried to do some crunches yesterday but Will climbed on top of me  As soon as I'm done here I'll pop in a movie. Maybe he'll let me get a few moments on the treadmill. Hi to everyone else!! Get more personal later. |
BTW, it's 8 degrees outside. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
|
Candy,
I don't think we are bidding agaisnt each other. In fact I saw and ad for just the companion the other day. If I find any more I will let you know. Geri, I hear you about getting climbed on. My boys are 5 and 3 and if you lay down on the floor any where here, your fair game. |
I bought the gazelle and now when I go to do my Pilates, my kids play on it while I'm exercising. I had to establish a "no touching mommy while I am exercising" rule or else I'd never get to exercise. I do spend time just wrestling around with them though, which is what they really want anyways!!!
Ricci, I am watching about 6 of the companions. I would love to get the new 2004 one and give her my old one but I don't want to spend anymore money right now. I am trying to build a house after all! Though you couldn't tell by all the things I've been buying lately! So, I'll confess, I am on "restriction...grounded." No more movies, books, exercise equipment, or anything else that can wait! OK, well, I'm gonna go try to get something done. This "plan" I am on is killing me. I have been wiped out since starting it. It says that in a rare, few instances when you are in really bad shape this will happen. So, I guess I'm in really bad shape. But now I am 3 days closer to being in good shape!!! Only 5 more days of only fresh fruits and veggies. I'm wanting some cooked food so bad right now I can taste it. I won't let my DH fix anything "GOOD" for dinner. I just keep putting stuff in the freezer and telling him he has to wait until next week. He has been very cooperative though, eating salads everynight and fruit every morning. Maybe he'll start feeling better too! Ok, well, I've rambled on enough now. Gonna get off here. Talk to ya'll later! |
I got in 10 minutes on the treadmill. I'll get on it again later.
I would love to establish the don't climb on Mom rule, but Will ignores me right now:) He thinks it's play time. Started taking wall paper down in the half bath. We've been here a year...it's about time! What a fun job! Gotta go.... |
Hi All!
I am so glad I'm finally able to get here again. Boy I was soooo worried the site was down for good. Hopefully there will be no more crashes. I promise to post more tomorrow. I need to get some sleep now. Talk to you all later! :) |
Good morning all!
I kinda like that they went back to the old format on here. The only thing I would like to see again is the "quick reply" option. But that is ok. :) How is everyone doing today? Ginny I hope your computer is up and running soon! Can't wait to hear about your WI and meeting from yesterday. I peeked at the scale this morning myself to see if I had done real damage from last weekend and saw a pleasant suprise! But I won't post anything unitl my WI on saturday. ;) What is everyone having for dinner tonight? I've been cooking long home cooked meals all week so tonight is my "cheat" night (as far as cooking goes) and I'm making Tuna Helper. Quick and easy and low in pts. Plus it helps me get my pasta fix, lol. Oh, I have something cute I want to post. It was in the WW magazine about weigh ins. I'll post it after this post so this one isn't so long. Well, I hope everyone is having a great thursday, I'll chat with you all later! |
Top Ten Things Heard at a Weigh In
1. "Stop congratulating me. I haven't put my other foot on the scale yet." 2. "I demand a recount---didn't you see that piece of lint on the scale?" 3. "I knew I shouldn't have hung out with Ben and Jerry last night." 4. "Would it be socially acceptable to wear a bikini to all my weigh-ins from now on?" 5. "Don't you have to deduct the actual weight of the scale from my total weight?" 6. "I didn't know the dial could go all the way around---three times." 7. "Would it be too much to ask for everyone in the vicinity of this scale to be blindfolded?" 8. "Excuse me, are you sure this is in pounds---not ounces?" 9. "I had to get a crew cut just to reach my weight goal." 10. "This scale is finxed!" |
Yeah, it's back up again!!
Don't know what's for dinner yet. Having a lean cuisine for lunch. I have some left over pork fried rice I made the other night that I should finish up. anyone else? |
Hi! Looks like it is still working! (crossing fingers)
Well my dinner plans changes. I discovered I have no tuna, lol. So that makes tuna helper impossible. So I put some pork chops in the crock pot, covered it with 98% fat free cream of celery and sliced onions for an easy 4 pts meal. So that is what I am having. How is everyone's day going? I was suppose to let you all know that Ginny was having her computer worked on and she says hello and that she'll be back as soon as her computer is up and running again. I sure miss her. :) Well... the kids are down for a nap so I'm enjoying the quiet. They have felt so cooped up lately so I promised them I'll take them toy shopping when they wake up. So I'll be gone later. TTYS! |
Wow! I couldn't get on all morning and I was panicking!!! Then a friend stopped by and we watched Finding Nemo so that's where I've been all afternoon.
Today is day 4 of my mono-diet. I can't believe that I have made it 3 1/2 days on only raw fruits and vegetables. It is unbelievable. Any other time I would definitely buckled and cheated but I am in "baby mode" really bad right now and know that I can't justifiy that if I can't take care of the kids I've got so I am really determined to get well. I like being motivated. It is a rare emotion for me!!!:D Anyhows, you guys are killing me with pork chops and fried rice. Killing me!!! Spryng, those pork chops sound really good. I'm gonna have to try them next week. I also have chicken noodle soup, chicken burritos and blackeyed peas with ham on the agenda next week!!! Whoo. Well, I'm gonna get off here. Went to Earthfare today and in their little flyer they had a book with recipes for only raw foods. I need some variety, especially if I am going to be doing this 5 more times by July. I'm gonna go check amazon and ebay and see if I can find it cheaper!!! :) TTYL!!! |
Good evening all!
Candy, hang in there! You can and will finish your mono dieting week. If you need me to stop talking about what I eat I will. :) How was everyone's day? Mine went ok. I was stressed. PMS hit me really bad and I wanted to munch all day. Though I didn't. I did use the majority of my pts on a chicken mcgrill and fries at mcdonalds today though. They hit the spot. And I didn't go over my pts for the day... so that was good. I'm so glad the weekend is almost here. I'm ready for some flexpoints!! So another successful day is behind me. Well... I probably won't post until tomorrow evening. SIL is babysitting the kids tomorrow and I'm going shopping with a couple of friends and I am so happy about it. I plan to shop until I'm ready to drop. That should earn me a couple AP's. :) So I hope everyone has a wonderful friday and I'll see you all tomorrow night. TTYL!! |
Hi All!!
I know I said I wasn't going to be able to post this morning but I decided to have my official WI in today since I'm going to be busy all day and my eating may be off (I need some flex points!) so here it is.... 138.5!!!!!! 2.5 lbs loss!!!! I couldn't believe it when I saw that!! I am out of the 140's!!!! Whoo-Hoo! I'll update my signature later. Gotta scoot!! |
Congrats Spryng :cb: :bravo:
You're doing a terrific job!! Do you WI by yourself or do you go somewhere to WI? What kid of scale do you have? I bought one a few years ago that cost me around $50 thinking it would be accurate, but you never get the same number on it when you step on it (piece of crap :() Candy, keep up the good work on the mono diet. I don't think I could do it :p but then again, I don't have the pain that you do or the want to have another baby :D . Two's enough for me!! What kind of scale did you just get? You mentioned it a bit ago but those posts are gone now. Suzi, Andrea, Ricci, Ginny (I know your 'puter's donw) and anyone else out there... come join us!! It's been awhile since we've heard from some of you. Dinner tonight is a WW Spicy Turkey-Bean Chili recipe that I'll post in a little bit. It's yummy! If you don't like spicy, leave out the cayenne pepper and jalapeno's. It's only 3 pts per serving and can be made with ground round also. Dh loves it! He'll eat anything that'll make him sweat. Have a great day everyone!! |
Spicy Turkey-Bean Chili
1 Tbsp olive oil 1 pound ground skinless turkey breast (or ground round) 3 green bell peppers, seeded and diced 4 onions, chopped 6 garlic cloves, minced 1 Tbsp ground cumin 2 Tsp dried oregano ½ tsp cayenne pepper 3 bay leaves One 28-oz can crushed tomatoes Two 15-oz cans black beans One 15-oz can fat-free refried beans One 4-oz can diced green chiles One 4-oz can sliced jalapeno peppers In a large nonstick saucepan or Dutch oven, heat the oil. Add the turkey, bell peppers, onions, garlic, cumin, oregano, cayenne and bay leaves; cook, stirring as needed, until the turkey is browned and the vegetables are softened, 6-8 minutes. Add the tomatoes, the beans, chiles and jalapenos; bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, covered, stirring as needed, until the flavors are well blended, about 45 minutes. Discard the bay leaves. 12 servings, 3 pts each |
Hi everyone!
This has been a crazy wk for me. With the site crashing and me and dh trying to get things ready for him to leave Mon, I have not had time to post. Geri, the chilli sounds great! I will have to try it.:) Candy, you are doing great!! I know you will make it!;) I told myself I would not have another baby until I get my weight down, so I think that is why it seems to be easier this time, I have good motivation:D Spryng, you are doing great!:D I can't wait until I hit in the 130's! How did you're shopping go? Did you get anything? Well, I guess I'd better get off here... MIL is coming over in the morning, and I have to get my house "perfect".:( Hi to Ginny, Suzi and anyone else I missed! TTYL!:) |
Good evening all!
I have had the most wonderful day!!! Yes, I did buy some great stuff. The mall we went to is an outlet mall so everything there is on sale all the time!! I found the most beautiful dress for me for 10 bucks!!! It was 80% off!! Then I got my dd some clothes and both my sons some clothes, and some odds and ends. It was tons of fun. I had great complany too. Which I haven't had in a long time. :) So all in all it was a fantastic day! I'm also babysitting dh's neice and little cousin and the kids are thrilled to have someone to play with. It's a sleepover. Tomorrow they want to do karoake, lol. Geri, that chili does sound good. Every great now and then I get a wanting for some good chili and cornbread or crackers. And yes I weigh in at home and my scale is a 25 dollar one from Walmart. But it reads the same as the one at my doctors office so that is nice. Don't you hate weighing in at home and then seeing another number when you go to the doctor?? It seems to be pretty accurate. I don't know the brand of it. I'll post it tomorrow. Andrea, I hope you got your house how you like it for your MIL visit and I hope you have a nice visit. I need to get busy on my house too... but it will have to wait until tomorrow. Well... I am so tired. Shoped till I about dropped... maybe I earned an AP or two. lol. I will talk to you all tomorrow!! |
Hi! It's me again. :) Just wanted to let you know that I am wearing my size 8 jeans and they are fitting great!!!! I just can't believe I'm almost there!!!! 8.5 lbs to go. Seems surreal to me. But just wanted to post my good news!!! I'm on could 9 right now, lol. I hope everyone has a great saturday!!!
|
Hey all!!!
Andrea, hope everything goes well with getting the DH off. I know things must be hectic now. Geri, my scale is a digital scale, the cheapest one that Walmart had, $18. I weighed at my office on the dr scale and at the time was 168.5 and then came right home and weighed on it and it said 169 so it seems to be very accurate. Spryng, I completely agree with you about seeing different #'s. That is how my old scale was. I would weigh and think, yeah I lost and then get to the office only to realize I had gained!!! So, had to buy a new scale! Anyhows, Geri, chili did sound good and my DH is also all about HOT so I'm sure he would love it. Spryng, congrats on being in the 130's!!! I am soooooo jealous. I was all thrilled because I am down to 155!!! Which by the way, I am down to 155!!! I have lost 9 lbs so far! Anyhows, glad to you had fun shopping. Sounds like you found some really good deals. I am still on restriction but I do need a juicer because I can't have pastuerized juice and that is all you can find in the stores and I would like to have some juice every now and then! So, I might buy just that one last thing. Anyone have one they love? Well, today is day 6 of mono-diet. Believe it or not, I feel like I could do it for another week! Wednesday was hump day, hit the wall day or anything else you want to call it and I thought I would go crazy but since then I've been fine. I found a couple dressings that I really love and have started experimenting and found that a few oriental things I really love are raw! So I am in the process of making Kim-chee now and I have some mung bean sprouts marinating in the fridge with sesame oil and soy sauce. Yum!!! Spryng, what it the date you started when you were at 164? Our beginning and end are the same but I am 3 inches taller than you and I am really just going to play it by ear once I hit 140. I may find that I am comfortable there but I was 125 when I got married and would like to be closer to that than to the 140 I was after I got married. We'll see. Well, today we have someone coming to look at our property to give us a bid on clearing it. So, it may be soon that I say, "We've broken ground!" Is that the right phrase? Better check w/DH on that!!! :) Gonna go! Hope you all are well. TTYL! |
Wow, that was a long post. Kinda got away from me! Sorry!!!
|
Well, I just have time for a short note... I'm down 3.5 lbs. this week. I weighed this morning and I'm at 164!!! Not too bad going from 170 to 164 in 2 wks!! Me , Dh, and a couple that are our good friends are flying to Little Rock this afternoon and going out to eat. Dh hasn't flown much since Christmas and needs to get some practice in before his training Mon. So we are off for an exciting day! My friend hasn't flown in a small plane before, so this is going to be interesting! I will post back later on tonight.
TTYL! |
Good afternoon all!
What a fun day! Went to Walmart and picked up a few things (lots of diapers, wipes, etc ... fun stuff you know?) Hey mommies, Will is showing no signs of wanting to go on the potty. He won't be 3 until May 3 but how do you know and how do you start??? Dh needs to take him in the bathroom with him more often. Will thinks he should sit and us toilet paper when he pees. :p Dh is way to private about some things. I told him Will is going to go like a girl if he doesn't start letting him in soon  The chili is excellent, BUT don't use the hot refried beans ... what was I thinking??? I have to put some sour cream in before I can eat it so that makes it 4 pts per serving for me. It makes a huge pot so a serving is probably close to 1 1/2 cups. And it's very filling. Had some more for lunch today. Also finally bought sleds for Will today. We have a pretty good size hill for little kids in our front yard. He had a blast!! He's taking a nap right now. I'm surprised I even got him in the house. Should have looked for a scale while at Walmart ... didn't even think of it :D Andrea, I've never flown in a small plane either...sounds like fun. Congrats on the WI also!! Spryng, I'll never be a size 8 so I'm jealous!! I'm big boned and for me to be an 8 I would look like an anorexic!! I would really settle for a 16. Dh came across our honeymoon pics recently ... bummer. Only 3 years ago and what a difference .. of course that was also 2 kids ago:p Candy, I think "breaking ground" is the right phrase ... how exciting! I remember looking at the plans and thought it was nice. Can you link us again when you get a chance? I'd like to take another peek. OK, guess I had better get going here. Just wanted to say hi to you all and wish you a good OP day. This is my high points day ... since I'm not one of you "little" ladies:lol: that means 43 pts for me on the Wendie plan today ..... 43 points ... can you imagine???? I may save a couple for tomorrow. The Packers are in the playoffs so we may be munching and tomorrow's supposed to be a low pt day. All right ... I'm going. BYE. |
Gonna start a new thread...
|
Well, I am back......and so is my computer. I had to take it out to a repair company- and the whole operating system had to be reloaded........how lovely! And I just installed a brandy new version of McAfee, so Ds can't catch a virus again, or should I say the computer.
No time tonite to respond or really even read the posts. But I will add an answer to Geri's question about boys and potty training. Have you tried any of the number of great books for kids on the topic???? Then, with all 3 of mine, I noticed that they were holding a clean diaper for much longer- and waking up dry and clean. Sort of a dead giveaway that it was time. I had 2 that gave up diapers at under 2 1/2, one that did it at a wee bit over 3. My fastest to train was Ds......go figure. Anyway, you can take all sorts of clues from them- and then plan on spending a week when you will not go too many places. For Will, it would be great to sell to him the concept of a hot summer with just undies- and then pick out some "big boy pants" with characters (Scooby Doo, Mickey Mouse.......whatever is his fancy) for the big event. Guess I have babbled enough.......hope that everyone is having a great weekend!!! Sorry I did not get personal. Ginny |
