Chit Chat #16

Welcome everyone,

We are a group of ladies who support each other through all of life's ups & downs, not just weight loss.

Won't you join us?

FrouFrou 11-07-2003 09:14 AM

Good morning all~

Just wanted to check in and say Hi.

Jana, that is exactly what I love about Dr. Phil-he tells it like it is. I too have been a fan since first seeing him on Oprah. I thought they were good together.

Kayecee, I am totally opposite. If I hear a noise while driving I panic and the radio goes off until I figure out what it was. WTG on your loss this week! WOOHOO!

Petra, hope your finger is better.

Marti, your DD sounds so very sweet. Kids say the sweetest things and are so very honest. My DD knows, well the whole family knows, but mostly her when I am about to reach for something I know I shouldn't be grabbing for at the grocery store she will say "Mommy, you don't need that" she said that once and thought I got mad at her. I told her why would I get mad at her when she is trying to help me, and I appreciate it. My sons do the same. I have made it a rule for me, not them but me, that I will not eat anything after dinner and one night I went into the kitchen and grabbed some graham crackers. I bit into one and my son said "I thought you weren't supposed to eat after dinner" I completely forgot and gave them to DH. But I have to agree with your DD I think you look GREAT!

Well, ladies I am off to deal with the day. I wish I could say it was good news about my car but it's $800 worth of bad. Not real bad but man the labor for this stuff is outrageous! Not something I wanted to hear at this time. I can't remember what it was though. I've got to go pick that up about noon, take DH his truck, go to the store, post office, etc. etc. and I am pooped just thinking about it all. So, I will see you ladies tomorrow.

Have a WONDERFUL day ladies! :flow:

Old Man's Gone Hunting!!!!

Woo Hoo!!! A weekend for me to do anything I want and a few hundred bucks to do it with! (Anybody got Antonio Banderas' phone number?) :dizzy: I love hunting season! The kids and I usually go to our place with Tim, but it is getting too cold for rummage sales so we stayed home this weekend. (Plus, it's the first day of gun hunt and a few more guys are going so they may get.... uh...... a teeny bit plastered. :sssh: ) Tonight, I took the kids and my niece to eat pizza and ice cream. (I stayed OP with no problems! :encore: ) Then we got some video games and movies. Finished up at Wal-Mart for some trashy novels. ;) Tomorrow, I am going to our church auction. They have a LOT of fabulous items and all kinds of gift certificates to local restaurants. I hope I score some good deals. :crossed: Then we are going to go to Jonesboro and I am actually going to go to a book store and then on for some shopping. Out to eat then back to SIL to let the kids play. Whew! Y'all may not hear from me tomorrow!

Marti- I think your picture looks great! I keep looking at it and wondering why you need to lose weight! Hope your DD got some extra XOXOX!

Cristi- Hope you survived your day! :D $800! Ouch! We are lucky that we know a bunch of redneck mechanics that we swap favors back and forth with! Tim's hood that the horse smashed was gonna cost about $1000 because it has to be painted. A friend of ours does body work though and he looked at it and said, "Don't you dare tell anyone, but I'll do it for $150." Well, all right!!! Tim will probably do some cheap concrete labor for him later on. That's the way us rednecks do it.

Angie- WAXED?!? YOUR WHOLE LEGS?!? DOUBLE OUCH!!! I barely can stand to get my eyebrows done. :yikes: As far as I am concerned- winter is coming on and I can use the extra warmth. Congrats on the loose clothes!!!

Petra- Sorry about your day! Hope you cheer up tomorrow.

Hey to everyone else! Night Y'all!

Marti 11-07-2003 11:33 PM

Evening ladies--

Today feels like an eternity!! I'm so tired, yet not tired! Around 4:00 I was thinking,,, it's only 4:00? Now it's almost 8:30 and I'm still thinking that way. (apparently I've got up too early!!)
Took Jhanai to the dollare store, let her rummage around. They opened up a new one. This town is small, and I was surprised that they needed two?!! What's up with that?. Then I took her to blockbuster to rent some movies. We rented that "8 crazy nights" and plan on watching it later. It's wet and cold out, so and she has a cold so we wanted a snuggle night.

Kayecee-- How 'bout I post a close up of me! Then maybe you would see what I see!! I have this spare tire!! Not flattering I tell you and I have thighs from :censored: !! They stick together like velcro!! In fact, I was looking at myself in the mirror today trying to be positive and say "You look marvelous darling" and instead out came "who are you kidding?":dizzy:

Angie--I have never had a wax! I think I may need one though. Facial hair starting to sprout!! Nothing like kissing something like a prickly pear!! :D And the hair!! Have her come my way!! I really need to camoflauge the gray!!:yikes:

Petra--I'm sorry you had a bad day!! I will send good vibes for a better day tomorrow!!:goodvibes :sunny:

Jana-Mel-Michelle-Natalie and anyone else I've missed..... I hope you all have a great weekend. Now off to post my squats......

Marti

Kayecee 11-08-2003 09:40 AM

Morning Y'all!

Decided to sneak in a quick post before the monsters.... er..... uh.... children arose! I got up early and read a little. Now I'm cooking eggs and bacon for breakfast. I can hear it now- "Mom! You forgot the toast/biscuits!" Oh well. :) A few less carbs won't kill them.

Marti- "8 Crazy Nights" is what the kids got! They went over to Mom's because she has a big screen tv. (Who am I to argue?  ) They said it was hilarious--- then they said there was some ugly language. :( It was a Christmas cartoon for Pete's Sake. I hadn't even thought to check the ratings. (PG-13) Mom had gone to the other room to pay bills and things so she didn't catch it. Now I am just praying that my DD3 doesn't go to church today and repeat something. :o I wish they could make movies without all the language! Now look girl, if you wanna compare butts- we'll talk! My biggest problem is that I look a LOT older than I really am. I look 50ish even though I'm 36. When my best friend got married at 18, she had a picture of me sitting on her coffee table. A salesman came up one day and they were sitting there talking and he says- and I quote- "Is that your mother?" :bomb: :foot: :bomb: AND she's 6 months OLDER than me! I got my school pictures the other day and it was really depressing!

Well, now that I have brought myself down in the dumps, I guess I'd better go flip the bacon again. Y'all have a good Saturday!

petra 11-08-2003 10:59 AM

Yah - new day:cb: :cb: it really came.
so anyway
Kaycee you dog I wish I could get rid of mine and have time to enjoy it. My dh goes next week and I have to work every day. but I hope you enjoy your time:wave:
Cristi - sorry about the car. sucks spending that kind of money on something thats not fun:shrug:
well I'm out of here, I have running around to do before I work this afternoon and It's cold here 30's but sunny :flow2:
thanks for the good vibes Marti :goodvibes :goodvibes

FrouFrou 11-08-2003 03:38 PM

Hi Ladies~

Funny you ladies mentioned 8 Crazy Nights~ I just heard on the radio yesterday from Movie Lady/Mom who is a critic and she warned parents about it, saying it isn't a movie she recommends for kids.

Angie, a wax?! OUCH! I have never had one either but was having my hair done when a lady was having one on her upper lip, again-OUCH! My DS 21, bought me an electric razor a few years ago for Christmas and that was the BEST gift I have ever received. I use it about every two ro three days and don't have to lather up so it is perfect. Takes about 5 minutes to do if that. Hope you had a fune day with SIL.

Kayecee, hubby is gone! Hope you enjoy your weekend! ;) I have a little story, you are talking about looking older. I get the opposite, I actually think I look 44 what ever 44 looks like. But whenever me and my oldest son who is 23 is out people think he is my husband or boyfriend. When I took the car in the other day, the girl asked for a phone number I could be reached at and I told her but that I wouldn't be home most of the day and that my DH would be calling later. Well, Jason (DS) said give her my cell phone number. She said and who are you? He said Jason. She gave me the funniest look and pointed to DH name on the paperwork and said and this is your husband? I said yes. I know she was thinking DS was my boyfriend because of the look she gave. We get this all the time. DS looks a little older than 23 and since he was 13-I kid you not-people have thought he was my boyrfirend or DH. We went my sons soccer pizza party back when Jason was in High School, he was 15, and the kids asked DS#2-Josh if that is his dad! And the stories go on and on...it is too funny.

Marti, Isn't it funny how we see ourselves? We are so critical about ourselves because your DD is right! :) I think you are a beautiful lady! I saw your newest photo with your doggies and you look great!

Hi to Jana, Carree, Mel, Michelle, Kat, Skew, Bandaid and anyone else I missed. Hope you ladies are doing fine.

I am getting ready to head to the park for a 3-mile walk with DS, or should I call him DH or boyfriend?! Just kidding. DH is working and I am bored out of my mind even though I have laundry to do and some housecleaning. It is also kind of chilly outside but at least the wind isn't blowing. That makes it 100 times colder. And having this cold it may not be good but I need some fresh air sometimes. So this will be good.

Take care ladies and EVERYONE have a GREAT weekend! :flow2:

Marti 11-09-2003 02:15 AM

Hi ladies--

Sorry this is late... spent some snuggling time with DD. We watched that movie "8 Crazy Nights" and I would get up every once in awhile since I was making dinner..... the movie is DEFINATELY worth watching BEFORE you let your kids watch. I found it to be hilarious... my daughter thought it was funny too, but she didn't get most of what I was laughing at. (Thank Goodness for that!) It was after I finally settled down and really watched it that I realized that she probably shouldn't be watching it. I don't even think it should be PG-13... I probably should have read these post before we watched!!

Today was a good day. DD and I went to Wal-mart and I bought her some knee high boots. MaryKate & Ashley... Wish they had a pair in my size..... I would have bought some myself!! I also needed a new skillet... since mine went Ka-put. Teflon wore out. Not worth having. So that just gave me a great excuse to go shopping!!

Kayecee-- I sorry about the comments you got about your age.. :( that's never a comfortable thing. Here's my story. I remember being at my grandparents house and I answered their phone... the woman on the other end asked if I could get my mommy... I started laughing and said "Well I am the mommy...would you like to speak to the owner of the house?" :o The woman apologized and laughed with me. And... to this day, I get people thinking I'm in my early 20's. Sometimes that's good, sometimes its not. If I want to buy something... I'm never taken seriously and I have to look for someone to get some help. Just yesterday... I had some classmates thinking I just got out of high school. Now I don't think that I look THAT young. And James is always mistaken for being much older...He's 4 1/2yrs. younger! That I like!!:D So I can NEVER judge peoples ages!!

Petra-- Hope the vibes helped you out!! You're weather is like mine.. cold, rainy(sometimes) yet the sun is out!! Not looking forward to when it's raining constantly!!

Cristi--I hope you enjoyed your walk w/your DH, I mean, boyfriend.. oops... I mean your son!!;)

Oh yeah... Kayecee & Cristi-- I thank you for the compliments about how I look.. and I really wished that I was completley happy with the way my body is... but you know... I have parts of me that FOLD. Do you know what I mean? My tummy just hangs.. and it's not a roll.. it's almost a fold. And my butt.... it's doubled. You know, like a double chin!! So if I were to moon anyone I would show two smiling moons!! :D I guess, my BIGGEST issues with my body is when I don't work out... it shows. The tone goes away quickly and looks terrible. I just wish I could figure out what got in my head to make me just work on it before! I want that back!! So I'm going to go look for it. :mag:
Starting Atkins Monday.. I hope it's what's good for me.

Ok... I need to get going. You all take care
Marti

Kayecee 11-09-2003 10:28 AM

Perfect Saturday!

Well, girls I had a wonderful day yesterday! :lucky: I scored big at the auction! Here's a list of my loot: a china teacup and saucer from England ($4), a brand new faucet for my bathroom sink from the store that I was going to buy it from anyway ($5- regularly priced near $30), a gift certificate for $10 worth of gas ($7), a Barbie doll house ($2), 3 brand new bracelets in the packages ($5- worth $27), a small Aromatique basket filled with samples, a candle, and matches ($2.50), a $10 gift certificate to the Hollywood Grill ($5), an $80 Home Interiors picture ($46), AND a $45 gift certificate to the Outback Steakhouse for..... drumroll.... 22 bucks! I was sooooo excited. Tim and I love the Outback and our anniversary is on the 27th so mom volunteered to keep the kids and we are gonna go on a DATE! :flow2:

After the auction, I went to my SIL until 6:00 so the kids could play. Then we went to a new mexican restaurant. Then we went shopping. The kids got a couple of toys and I got 2 potpourri crockpots, potpourri, and a few new towels. I also put DH some Christmas gifts in the lay-a-way. (That way he can't sneak and find them. :sssh: ) Sooo.... the perfect Saturday!

Petra- Awwww. I am sorry you're getting rid of DH for the weekend only to have to work. :( Don't get me wrong, I love DH but I enjoy some free time too. And y'all don't get the wrong idea. I don't normally get to blow money like that. We know one big blowout gets to come every fall, so we save for it like a vacation! I don't gripe about how he spends his share, and he doesn't gripe about how I spend my share. :D

Cristi- Did you enjoy your walk with your fella? DS not DH! My DH has a baby face AND I am 6 years older so I know everyone thinks he is my son! :p

Marti- Like I said, I don't know why they can't make cute, funny shows without all the language! My DS was watching Southpark when it first came out for a couple of weeks. Hey cartoons- no problem- right? Then I walked in while they were talking about poop or something and started cussing like sailors. :o I almost shot the television!!! It definitely wasn't the Barney that he had been used to! :( Good luck with the Atkins. Oh, and I hate Teflon. The expensive ones don't hold up very well either so I buy the cheap $5 ones at Dollar General and throw it out about once a month.

Hey has anyone tried those toning beds? You know, the ones where you lay there and it contorts your body around and stretches it. If so do they work? My pastor's wife swears by it and I found out yesterday that she goes to one in the town where I teach. I didn't even know they had one there. I may try it this week. Later y'all!

FrouFrou 11-09-2003 05:32 PM

Hi ladies~

Such a boring day for me today. I think when I get off here I will grab a good book.

Went to Mass this morning, then to lunch, came home and changed to head to the park for a walk, 3-miles. It is actually nice today. The sun is shining and the wind isn't blowing too bad. Just kind of a cool breeze.

Kayecee, WOW lady you scored at the auction! Nex time you have one give me a call! Have fun on your date with your hubby! I have seen South Park and it definitely isn't a cartoon for little ones! :yikes: Sorry to say I have never used a toning bed, nor do I know anyone who has.

Marti, we are having your hodge podge soup for dinner tonight finally. You are funny  isn't it funny how we describe our bodies? I feel the same way about myself but then I am a lot bigger than you, A LOT bigger!

Well, ladies I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. TTFN

Jane 11-09-2003 07:37 PM

Hi ladies,

Sorry I have been MIA!

Kayecee - you first, because I HAVE to comment on your age story! I think the operative word was SALESMAN!!! No wonder he said that, hon, he was looking for a sale from your friend and was buttering her up. Couldn't that be what it was?? Also, congrats on the loot!

Marti - I just bought (and watched) finding Nemo. It was really cute, but I suppose everyone else has already seen it. I can't believe how disgusting even some of the prime time shows are. Also, I posted the Amish Chicken Noodle Soup on the recipe thread, per your request. It is very easy and very yummy.

Cristi - Hope you enjoyed Marti's soup and the walk, too.

Petra - hope you're having a really good day!

Angie - what'd ya get at Pier 1? One thing I can't live without is the marble coasters they sell. And the placemats are the best selection of anywhere, imho.

Well, I had the fam over for a spaghetti dinner Friday, just about finished up my Christmas shopping yesterday, and rested today after church. I need to clean, but refuse to do that on Sundays. Tomorrow is another day, right?

TTFN,
Jana

Hey Y'all!

Just finished sending my Avon order over the net, so I thought I'd check in here.

Jana- Sadly, the dang salesman is not the only one over the years who has made similar comments. We went to see Finding Nemo at the theater. It was soooo adorable. It was Vallory's first real movie and she sat enthralled the entire time!

Angie- Ooooooo you sexy momma!!!! Uh... when you say other places.... uh.... did you mean... *shudder*.... a bikini wax?!? :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: WHY? ANGIE! WHY? Please say it ain't so. :o Lord I can't even imagine the torture. I will definitely have nightmares tonight. Isn't that painful? :faint: I think I will stick with looking like a gorilla on rogaine- thank you very much!   As for the shopping, I am afraid you shall never meet my queenliness. :queen: You should see some of the great things that I have gotten for Christmas. I have been getting 50% OFF on my Avon so some of the women I know are going to be floored by some of the gifts they get! They are gonna think I blew a bundle! *tee hee*

Well, night y'all! Gotta get up in the morning and go warp... uhh.... I meant mold those young impressionable minds!

da fat n da furious 11-10-2003 02:25 PM

I didn't get a bikini wax...lol just my toes....lol Too funny tho..lol

I don't ever pay full price for anything,,,expecially clothes now.
Well I better run and do my thing at work....
Angie

Marti 11-10-2003 08:21 PM

Hi ladies-

Well today I started Atkins. We'll see how I feel in a couple days. Right now I feel really tired. Not to hungry (which is nice) but very tired. I guess, part might be that I was up at 5:30.
I weighed myself today and did my measurments. Not too happy with the weigh in... up 3lbs. :( But I'm working on it. I hate the scale so I don't want to have to weigh myself every week. I'm thinking of weighing in only once a month!! I've been browsing around here and there are a lot of people who are scale addicts!!

Jana-- thank you for posting your soup recipe. I want to make some for my grandmother.....hopefully I won't be too tempted to eat it all myself!!

Angie--waxing?! I've never tried it. I would like to though... shaving get's old after awhile. I'm just so glad we don't have excess facial hair!!

Kayecee--I sure hope them poor students of yours aren't getting warped!! You have such a great sense of humor... I bet your kids love having you!!

Petra--How are things going for you? Getting better?? Hope so!!

Cristi--How'd you like the soup? It's good for really cold days!!

Well ladies... I am really tired!! So I am going to get some dinner rest in front of the tube, then head to bed!

You all take care!!

marti

Kayecee 11-10-2003 10:48 PM

Just a quick note

Hey Y'all! I did my weigh in today and I am down to 248 1/2! I hope CAD keeps working. Good luck to everyone tomorrow. I'll post individual notes tomorrow. Night.

Kayecee 11-11-2003 01:17 PM

Hey! Where is everyone?

Is it my breath? Well, DH got home yesterday and we had a MAJOR fight. *sigh* That's why I didn't get to post much yesterday. Don't know if this one is gonna blow over. I have seriously been giving consideration to the big D. At least my house is clean. When I am ticked, I clean like a mad woman. :)

Angie- I didn't know you could get your toes waxed! LMAO Well, that's better than a bikini wax. I think I could stand to get my toes done. :D

Marti-You'll feel tired for a few days. Your body is used to having an ample supply of carbs to burn for quick energy. It's not getting them now, so it takes a few days for your body to switch gears. The doctors who wrote the CAD book says that it is better to weigh every day then average the weights at the end of the week. That way, you don't happen to step on the scale when you have a lot of water retention and get depressed or get a false sense of euphoria if you happen to be down more than normal. I like using the doctor's scales, so I only go once a week.

See y'all later. I didn't go to work after last night, so I guess I'll go clean more. :p

Marti 11-11-2003 01:36 PM

Hello all!!

Well first day of doing Atkins went well. I felt like I was starting to get a headache, but it never got that bad! I just don't want it to EVER get bad. And eating what's on the list of foods I can eat, isn't as terrible as I thought. I have ate more eggs, than I have all year!! Hope my neighbors don't catch wind!:o

Kayecee--Sorry to hear about the fight with your Husband. I hope it doesn't come down to the big "D" but if you need us for support we are here for you!:grouphug:
Weighing in everyday?! I don't know if I could do that. But maybe I could give it a try. I am trying to find my old measurments from when I worked at Sony.....having trouble figuring out where I put it. I know I won't like the comparison..*sigh* Oh well.. I'm working on it now.

Today there is no school, so I am taking advantage and trying to catch up on my homework. What a way to spend a day off!!

I will post more later on ladies....

Take care
marti

FrouFrou 11-11-2003 04:46 PM

Hi Ladies~

Kayecee, WTG on your loss! :bravo: :cheer: WOOHOO! Sorry to hear about you and DH. We are here for you Kayecee if you want to talk or not talk :grouphug:

I know I can't weigh in everyday ladies. I tried it once and it drove me  Last week also, for some reason the scales were calling my name and I got on then several times and I will never do that again. Whatever I weigh on Friday that is what I am taking. I get too frustrated.

Marti, the soup was :T My son smelled it cooking upstairs and thought it was meatloaf! We will definitely be haivng it again! Now to try Jana's Chicken Noodle soup. :T

Today has been a good day for me except for this horrendous :headache: I woke up with. This weather is ******ed! Yesterday it was 60 something and today 68-what is up with that? I am not really complaining but it is crazy because it is warm one day and cold the next, I don't know how to dress anymore. I did my WATP video and 15 mn. bike ride and hav gotten 2-1 liter bottles of water down. I had one diet coke so far today and I will have one for dinner and that is good for me.

Hi to everyone else. Hope EVERYONE is having a great day. TTFN ladies. :)

Marti 11-11-2003 11:14 PM

Hi all!!

This place isn't too busy today is it? Hope you're all enjoying the day.

Cristi--I love the smilies! Where did you get them?

Today I went up to my sisters and got a hair cut. Looks short! But it's cute. While I was there, my BIL got a call from one of his sisters, and we could tell just by his body language it wasn't a good phone call. His older brother was in a Mill accident. I guess one of the boards he was working on, shot out and went through the plexi-glass that he was behind and hit him right in the jaw. It crushed his jaw and dislocated it. I couldn't believe it. I was surprised that he lived! He was in surgery while they were talking. They don't know yet how he's doing. I felt so bad!! I can't even imagine!! Before I left my town to go to my sisters, I seen the ambulance and police cars at the mill,,,, I just had no idea who it was!!

How is everyone doing? How are we all doing on our challenge? I haven't done anything yet today..... will do that later tonight.

Well, I just wanted to pop in and say hello.....

Take care
Marti

Kayecee 11-11-2003 11:29 PM

Hey Y'all!

Well, I think everything is calming down a little here. DH went away for four days and spent the whole time being razzed by a guy cuz he missed a deer. (He was... uh... answering a call of nature when a buck came by- his gun was laying a few feet away. :o ) Anyway, this guy was a guest of ours and can be a bully at times. He just doesn't know when to stop aggravating someone. To make a long story short, DH had 4 days to endure the ragging then came home and took his frustrations out on me by acting like a total :censored: . :nono: I finally figured out what had happened and SIL and his niece came over and chewed his head. He's usually so sweet so I didn't know what in the world was wrong. :dunno: We all had a prayer meeting and sent the devil on down the road. He feels like a total butthead now. :D (BTW the "guest" definitely won't be invited back! ) Just so you won't think that I jumped the gun in thinking about the big D, we have had a few disagreements over the past few weeks and this was just the final straw to my nerves. I think DH knows that he is walking on thin ice now and I am about to :sumo: LOL (It's supposed to rain tomorrow and I bet I'll have dinner waiting! ;) )

:thanks: for all the :grouphug: girls!

Marti- Ah Ha! And here I thought it was my breath that had scared everyone off, but it was really you and your eggs! I'm glad the Atkins plan is doing well for you. Are you getting back your energy? I love devilled eggs. They make a great low carb snack. I'm glad to hear your headache wasn't too bad. That sux to spend a day off studying. :(

Cristi- I was wondering where you were getting the adorable new smilies from then I saw them on the list. Aren't some of them so cute? :cheer: Weighing every day is definitely not for everyone, but if you're gonna do it, averaging weights is the only way to keep sane. :) Our weather has been absolutely  too! We're all gonna keel over with pneumonia! Sorry about your headache. Hope you feel better.

Where is everyone? Y'all haul your butts back here and report in before I make you drop and give me twenty!!!! :coach: Night Y'all! :goodvibes for tomorrow. (Even with the trauma, I am still OP! :bubbles: )

petra 11-11-2003 11:34 PM

Busy, busy, busy that's why I have been MIA:tread: but, I got a little time tonight to catch up on everything.
Kayecee - sorry about the fight, I hope you are doing ok:goodvibes :goodvibes here are some good vibes from me

Marti - hope your BIL's B is ok, you'll have to let us know. How's your grandma doing?

I had WI tonight and I made 25 lbs. :spin: thats down another 1.8 lbs. never thought I could do 1 lb. now I worry about keeping it off for the rest of my life. I have more to go, I started at 190 and want to get down to a 140-145. (What size do you think that is? ) I'm 5'6" and 36 yrs old do you think that is an unreasonable goal? When I don't worry I do ok OP. So we keep on trucken don't we:cbg:
at my WW meeting tonight she talked about learning how to play again so here's a question for all - what do you do to play? (or be active)
later everyone, I hope you are all having a good week:wave:

Kayecee 11-11-2003 11:40 PM

Sorry Marti and Petra!

We were posting around the same time and I missed your second post. (I also went to the kitchen for water so it took me a little longer than you two.)

Marti- I just loved your hair in your picture that you had posted. (BTW your chihuahua looks just like my Buttons.) Your hair was so becoming. IMHO I think short hair looks better on you than the long hair I saw you with. I think the short hair makes you look younger. OMG- I hope your BIL's brother is o.k. It sounds like he was very lucky! I'll remember him in my prayers. Here are some :goodvibes . Sounds like the poor guy needs them. That must have freaked you out when you realized that you passed the Mill just after his accident. Well, hope you got all your exercises in.

Petra- Glad to see you back. I am the same age and a few inches taller than you. When I was in high school, I weighed 130 at my lowest and wore a size 11/12. I know that sounds large, but I look like an absolute bone in pictures. I think it wouldn't be unreasonable for you to go under 150. So now are you at 165? (If I did my math right.) You don't have much to go! :cheer: on the loss! :thanks: for the :goodvibes .

Marti 11-12-2003 12:56 AM

Hello again ladies---

James just started his trucking job yesterday and he's training on nights, so I'm sitting here all alone and being lonely!!:dizzy: Been making phone calls to all my friends I used to work with.:callme: And after seeing what time it was I figured it was too late to make some more!!:D

Kayecee-- You are not the only one who likes my hair short. I never did anything with it when it was long, unless I was going out with a bunch of friends and was trying to get all dolled up!;) I just don't think it frames my face as well as the short. And with the weight loss, it looks even better.

Petra--I don't think getting down to 140-145 is unreasonable at all. I think it would be great. And I'm sure you'll reach that goal too!! I'm aiming for 125lbs. I'm short....barely 5'1"....I haven't been that thin since my daughter was about two... something happened and it just kept going up and up!!(bad relationship, depression.... all that emotional crap) Didn't realize I had a problem until I reached 175lbs. w/in a year!! I'm hoping to see 125 on the scale again someday!

Oh yeah... Kayecee--- with your CAD... do you feel you're being deprived of any foods you used to eat? I keep thinking of foods that I want but can't have. And it's not like I'm not following the diet...but for some reason... I STILL have cravings.:hungry: And then... I started feeling bummed about all the holiday cookies and pies that I make every year......I don't know if I'm going to make it on this Atkins! And that in itself really bothers me. I know it's only day two...but still. (see what happens when I'm home alone and start thinking!!):stress: I honestly think I did so much better when I just watched my portions and then reported to someone my weight and measurments. I don't know!!!:dunno: I guess I'm just voicing everything I've been thinking tonight!!!:yikes: I keep thinking why I started this BEFORE the holidays. Isn't that a bad way of thinking?????

Ok.. enough of all that... I have got to snap out of it. I have got to make this work. OR.... do some research, find a friend and find something that I know will work w/out feeling like I'm depriving myself... I know,... it's selfish thinking.. but that is the frame of mind I'm in right now!!

Oh yes... I like these new smilies. I guess I figured out where you got them Cristi!!!

Ok ladies... I'm going to go get ready for bed!! Night!
Marti

Marti 11-12-2003 09:14 PM

Hello everyone....anyone?? Where is everybody?:dunno:

I hope everyone is doing fine and having a good Wednesday. Today was a good day for me. Went to class and had an exam. Business English. I think I did pretty well. I have another on in Accounting this Friday. I feel a little better about this next one. I'll cross my fingers and hope I do well.:crossed:

Today is day three on the Atkins. I was talking to James about it and told him that right now, I really don't have confidence that this is going to work. And with an attitude like that... how will it? He told me to just stick w/it during the induction period and see how I feel. That's two weeks!! Ahh!!!:yikes: I am sticking w/it, it's just that I crave the things I can't have right now such as a bowl of cereal and milk!! I don't know girls.. I guess I'm still just whiney about it all. Sorry!!:sorry:

Well, I'm going to browse around then do some homework. I'll check in later and see if anyone has been by!!

Marti

Kayecee 11-12-2003 10:22 PM

Didn't y'all hear me?

I said haul your butts back here! :p Where is everyone?!?

Petra- I missed your question about playing last night. Hey, with teaching elementary, I run after kids all day long. I'm too pooped to play. :faint: No, seriously, today I had duty, so during recess I walked as fast as I could around the playground. (That served 2 purposes: 1. I got exercise. 2. The tattlers didn't want to chase me down to whine. Only the kids with serious problems went to the trouble of catching me! That really helps the nerves. ) Let's see... I sometimes walk the dogs and kids- or they walk me- whichever. :?: My dream exercise is swimming but, alas, we have no pool. I would also love to ride the horse, but she is still a little nutzoid. Oh, and it sounds silly, but riding a four-wheeler is good. My butt bounces around so much that it has to be doing something. And, oh, the arms... they can get so sore from the steering! I am gonna start at a gym that has the toning beds next week. I may just pay 24 bucks to lay there and look stupid. Who knows? :o But I'll see if I think it helps. What do you do for exercise?

Marti- Sorry you're lonely. I'm sad for you. :( I'll be on for a while if you get too bored. O.k.- Atkins. They say that your cravings will disappear. I don't know if that is true. I tried Atkins- for about 20 minutes one day. K- maybe a little longer than that. My cravings didn't disappear after a few days, so I crashed and burned. Knowing that I couldn't have so many things drove me nuts. I say that if you really want this to work, give it a few more days and see if it gets easier. If not, you may want to go back and do watching portions and reporting. That's better than driving yourself crazy then going on a binge when you can't stand it any more. Honestly, I am NOT deprived on CAD. I was past 250 pounds so you KNOW I am a BIG eater. I honestly forgot to eat lunch Saturday and Sunday. I am not sticking 100 % to CAD. They don't allow snacks between meals and I get too hungry at school if I do that, so I snack on devilled eggs, cheddar cheese, or peanut butter. They also want you to start the reward meal with 2 cups of veggies, but after a salad at lunch, I can't stomach a lot more veggies. I usually have something like a couple of slices of ham and some cheddar for breakfast. I drink a couple of cups of coffee throughout the morning. (They want you to limit yourself to one cup and get it down within 15 minutes.) For lunch, I have something like a salad or tuna fish and celery. (I love that!) Then I have a snack. For supper, I have a normal meal, but smaller portions. Tonight, for example, I had a pork chop, 1/2 cup gravy, a bunch of asparagus, and a small pastry. It's 3 hours later, and I am not the least bit hungry or craving a thing. I have passed up the candy cart and chocolate donuts in the lounge today. They also had turkey and dressing in the lunchroom today. I ate my salad and did not once long for the dressing. I know what their dressing tastes like and I wanted pork chops more. Something about just knowing that for 60 minutes a day, I can have anything I want has given me a willpower that I didn't know I had. And I don't let myself get ravenous. If I start to feel hungry, I grab a low carb snack. And the water seems to make me feel better. Sorry for rambling, but did that help?

See y'all later.

Kayecee 11-12-2003 10:35 PM

Marti- I forgot- how is BIL's brother? Hope he is doing well. Oh, and you said that it helps you to report. Do you think a food thread where we report everything we eat and drink each day would help you? I'm willing if you need to.

Marti 11-12-2003 11:01 PM

Hey Kayecee--

I guess it's just you and me today!

Your words of wisdom have helped. I've been thinking exactly what you wrote... If this missing foods too much get's out of hand to where I end up binging.. then I'm just going to go back and do what really worked for me before. I'm kind of wanting to find somewhere that I can have someone weigh and measure me... as long as I don't have pay and arm and a leg for it!

I do like the idea of keeping a food record! I'll let you start it!:D

Oh Petra--- I didn't see your question either.... what do I do to play? In the summer James and I bought a badmitton set. That's fun, but during the winters... nothing like cranking up the music and dancing around the house with no cares in the world. Of coarse if anyone was home that would be embarrassing!!:o

Ok back to you Kayecee---just how long does it take for cravings to stop? What happens if they NEVER stop? Well, in the book it says that if you still have cravings then you need to look at what your eating more closely and then limit even more! What the ****? Am I suppose to just start grazing in the field?:moo: Or is that too high in Carbs? :dizzy:

They say that some diets work great for some people while others it doesn't. Well Atkins is terrible. (right now anyway) At least with portion control, I never deprived myself. Sheesh... and it wasn't too long ago I was saying "oh it won't be too hard" and "if I want it really bad I can do it" and just pretty much prasing atkins before I even started!! I'll give it the induction period but if nothing happens and I don't start feeling better... off I go. Does that make me a failure???

Whew! I feel better getting this off my chest. James heard a lot of it this morning and was trying so hard to be supportive. He told me that he would support what ever decision I make... but to at least try and make it through the induction period. I'm trying!! What a whiner I am after only three days!!!:sorry:

Ok,,, I have a few more things to do for homework... I may post later on.

Kayecee--- start that food report thread. I'll do it with you.

Take Care
Marti

Marti 11-12-2003 11:02 PM

Oh.. BIL... I haven't heard... no one is home I assume they are all at the hospital. But as soon as I hear anything I will let you know.

Kayecee 11-12-2003 11:30 PM

Marti- If you want a place to weigh, how about your doctor's office? Mine is a small town friendly female doctor that buys Avon from me :) so on Mondays I just waltz in, wave at the secretary, and go to the back to weigh. Do you have that kind of rapport with your doctor?

I'll start the Food Thread a.s.a.p.

On Atkins, my cravings didn't stop after a few days so I wound up bingeing. (sp?) With CAD, they seemed to stop immediately. I think that it has just been a mind thing though. Since I have told myself that I can have anything I want at supper, my mind has allowed the willpower during the rest of the day. Yesterday, I was at home and all I had was 2 scrambled eggs for breakfast, a rib for lunch (no bar-b-q sauce) and a bowl of chili and a coke for supper. That's it. I didn't have a desire for any sweets and that was not a lot of food at all. But that is all that I wanted. Just knowing that I could have the donuts in the pantry or the ice cream in the fridge last night was enough. I have really stopped and thought about whether or not I want something this time. It's like a switch has been flipped in my brain and I have given myself permission to break my old rules. I CAN turn down sweets if I really don't want them, I CAN throw food away, I CAN eat when I am hungry, I CAN eat whatever I want. CAD is just like WW or Atkins or whatever.... it may work for me but not you.

The WW Wendie plan lets you eat more food on some days than others. This way your body never gets settled into thinking it is either feast or famine. It never knows what it is going to get from day to day. I was worried last night that my metabolism may crash and burn because I didn't eat much yesterday. Then I realized that I ate light Sat and Sun, heavier on Monday, light on Tuesday and heavier today. So I guess I may be doing my own version of the Wendie plan the lower carb way.

If I wear a size 26 and you try on my jeans and they don't fit, does that make you a failure? No way. It just means you need something different. Same thing with diets- what fits me or James may not be right for you. If you want to see if Atkins will fit, try sticking it out for a few more days to see if the cravings go away. BUT don't let yourself get to the point where you find yourself in front of the fridge wolfing down a whole box of Fruit Loops with a gallon of milk. :dizzy: Cuz you know you will beat the crap out of yourself later.

Go ahead and whine here all you want. That's what we're here for. BTW sorry but grazing is not allowed. :nono: You may accidentally eat a few dandelions and they are too high carb.

Kayecee 11-12-2003 11:36 PM

Oh- there's a good article in this week's Woman's World that I read earlier today. It's on page18-20 and it talks about rating your hunger on a scale of 1 to 10 and not letting yourself get too hungry or too full. I realized that some of the stuff that they mentioned like rating your hunger, getting smaller first helpings, and choosing foods you really like are some of the things I am doing.

petra 11-13-2003 12:01 AM

Hi everybody - boy this thread is getting long:nose:
Marti - Kayecee is right:chin: you are not a failure!!!! You just need to find what is right for you:flow1: I really like WW because I can eat anything I want. I tryed lots of stuff and everything but WW only lasted a couple days because I'm rebellious. If it says I can't do it (or eat it) I will do it anyway.:s:

I was thinking about the play thing and there is alot I would LIKE to do but don't have time right now. Now all I really do is walk with dh, go to my boys' sporting events and scream my head off, and play with the kids at work. sssssometimes I exersice but not as often as I should. my fav is to go shopping :dancer: :dancer: :dancer:
well I'm off to bed it's been a long day:tired: tommorrow ladies.

Marti 11-13-2003 12:13 AM

Hi again!

Hi Petra!! Yep,, when your lonely and you've got someone who'll stick w/ya here and chat... the thread gets long!

Kayecee--Unfortunately, the doctor I had, moved:cry: to Portland (150miles from me!) to start teaching interns. And that was last year... I haven't found another doctor yet. Plus, now that I'm not working and don't have medical insurance... I've been hesitant.

Thank you both for saying that I'm not a failure. :grouphug: Made me feel better. I am determined to find something that works. Or rack my brain and fine tune what it really was that worked before.

I called my BIL, and his brother is going home tomorrow! I was shocked. :yikes: Because yesterday when he got the phone call, he had his sister on speaker phone since the phones battery wasn't charged and I thought she had said that he shattered his jaw. Well, he went to the hospital today and his jaw had a clean break. Pretty much just broke it in half. They were able to put it together well enough w/the help of a metal plate. But all the nerves to his lips were severed, and so they will have to do more reconstructive surgery later. The doctor said that if it had hit him just an inch in either direction, the hit would have killed him. So this man is very lucky to be alive.

Ok everyone..... I hope we see more of you tomorrow!! I'm getting ready for bed. Kayecee... I'm not sure what time difference is from here to there... but it's 9:00 and I'm tired! Shouldn't you be sleeping???:D You got kids to tend to in the morning and you know the worst thing to have is a cranky teacher!!:p

Ok girls...I'm heading to bed.... night!

Marti
