Good Afternoon! The sun is shining and it is only 82, a beautiful day in my neighborhood. Rain is in the forecast and we could use it. Today would have been my mom's 105th birthday. She's been gone for 27 years but I miss her every day. BTW I think Juneteenth is just plain stupid! I'm sad it is on my mom's birthday. This has been kind of a catch up day here. I've done some laundry and ironed, filled our pill boxes for the next month, and sorted through a pile of recipes I saved from magazines and newspapers. I pitched most of them. I have another pile upstairs from when I got my first computer years ago, a Gateway, and went copy crazy on anything I read. I will have a lot of paper for scratch notes or recycle! Bob took our front door off and is restaining it. The morning sun hits it and with the storm door it gets really hot between the two so the finish eventually peels. The cats love being able to watch out that full length window, lots action of with kids on bikes and dogs running!

Ceejay, glad you are feeling better and feel like working in the yard. We are so dry but so far no water restrictions yet. We have been watering flowers early in the morning when it is cooler. I’ve heard that allergies are much worse this year; probably Trump’s fault. :lol:

Not much newsy from here. Church tomorrow and the weekly schedule starts again on Monday. Hope you are doing something you enjoy this weekend! :wave:

Woke up to thunder and rain this morning. did not hear sis getting dressed for work either. must be getting more used to that.
We kept A's kids on Friday night. Those boys are closer than two peas in a pod. I love them so much.. and the 20 month old is so precious.. getting a mind of her own.
Sunday was church.. our attendance is way down. think I counted 20 people altogether. we gave the pastor a gift basket. this Sunday will be her last day.
Talked to a gutter company on Saturday.. It's way to expensive for me to install new gutters and put leaf guards on but I did hire then to clean out the gutters and repair them. They are here this morning. didn't expect them until later this afternoon. guess the rain brought them earlier
sis and I are making plans for this weekend to travel back to Paragould.for her 50th high school reunion.. classes between 1954 through 1973 are welcomed. im not sure if anyone from my year will be there.. told my male friend about it but not sure if he will go.. He's s been having some health issues.
I'm thinking very seriously about finding a church that is closer to home.

Another beautiful morning. ive been doing some minor chores outside. need to do one more then push mow the front yard. the rider is to big for the front.
Going to call and make a hair appointment.
one of my cousins from paragould called asking if we were coming to the reunion and told him yes.. he offered us a place to stay but ive already made arrangements for a hotel stay..

Good Afternoon! It has been a strange weather day with some sunshine, clouds, a ten minute rain, more sunshine, and now cloudy with thunder every once in awhile. The temperature dropped down to 55 last night and Bob wanted to know if I was going to put the electric blanket back on the bed last night. I thought about an extra blanket but he put one on in the middle of the night. Crazy! We made a quick trip to Sioux City yesterday to get a weather strip for the door project and a quick stop at Penney's then SAMs Club. The door is done and hung back up, hopefully for the last time. I'm looking for a queen sized, light weight blanket for summer but everything I find is full/queen which shrinks when washed. I am worried about the Penney's store; it seems like they have down sized every department, and had NO blankets of any kind. I did some laundry this morning, made a potato salad for lunch, and worked on the afghan I started for Ian. I vacuumed fur bunnies this afternoon and that's been my day.

Ceejay, It’s nice you can spend time with your great nephews and niece plus that you enjoy doing so. I hope you enjoy the reunion and see lots of people you know. It was nice of your cousin to offer you a place to stay.

Had a call from my cousin Jack this morning telling me his sister had passed on the 25th of May.. sad but I dont know most of my older cousins from my dad's side of the family.
Will be going out to eat with a friend from church this afternoon..

I think covid has hurt a lot of the stores because people are ordering things more online.. I know I do.. The stores are not stocking as much as they used to
Bet you are glad to get the door fixed. My next project is to have the jouse power washed.

I had a good time last night. V, a friend at church and I went to eat. we had a good visit. The she decided that we should go by the pastor apt. we called first., and she said it was okay. we had a good visit. I need someone like her in my life.
we leave for Paragould tomorrow. Getting a tiny bit excited. Will be more so once we get there.

Good Evening! It is trying hard to rain, so far .03". We'll take all we can get as we are so dry. Areas around us have lost crops due to wind and hail. Mother Nature has not been kind lately. I braved the grocery store this morning. Our "plain, no frills" grocery store finally got on line shopping and reserved the four prime parking spots close to the door for pick up. The next eight, four on each side, are handicapped. Never ever have I ever seen anyone in the pick up spots and maybe one or two cars in the others. I'm just thankful I can walk on my own! I picked up the gift shop money, got that counted, and ran the vacuum around. After lunch I talked Bob into getting the treadmill out of the basement; it's going to the Good Will since no one uses it. BIG mistake! Hindsight, I should have made him get help from a couple of high school kids from church. He had it on a two wheel cart and he was backing up the stairs. I was at the bottom trying to balance it and help lift at the same time. We did pretty good until the last step and I had to stand on a step which put me too close and not enough leverage to lift. He gave it the heave ho and something snapped in his lower back. He got it up the last step and then went to lay down. He's really sore but thinks he just stretched muscles. Ice, ibuprofen, pillows, and the couch have been the rest of his afternoon and evening. I just hope he can sleep tonight.

We had planned to go to Ian's double header tomorrow. It's close to Sioux City but still an hour and a half drive. He and Jason always stand and walk during the games so he doesn't think that will be a problem. Ian got his dorm assignment and will be living in the same dorm Bob did. It was all guys 50+ years ago and is now coed. Also got the football schedule, five home games. Yippee!

Not much else is newsy from here. I can't help but feel the sadness and shock about condo collapse in Florida. Hope you enjoy a super Saturday tomorrow! :wave:

Good Morning! It is raining pretty hard right now, 1.56" so far this morning. The local farmers are doing a happy dance! Bob is sore this morning but his back is feeling better than last night. He said he got up a couple times during the night to walk around downstairs then went right back to sleep. We are going to skip Ian's games since the weatherman says rain off and on in that area. As of right now the game times have been moved an hour later. Bob's not sure about riding in the car since standing and sitting on the hard kitchen chair feel the best.

I have sheets in the washer which should be done and another load ready to go. It seems like the laundry piles multiply when I'm not looking. Have a nice day! :wave:

We had a fun weekend. the reunion was also fun and only one other person from my class was there but it was OK. bi sat with sis. she had a great time too.
Yesterday I pushed mowed the back yard for exercise.. it was hot..will do the front yard today. also need to trim the redbud tree and work in the flowerbed, may not get it all done . it rained for 5 minutes just as I put up the lawnmower.
I also need to go to the grocery store Imhungry for chicken and dumplings. I make dumplings with the floured tortillas. they do plump up like I'd like but ok in a pinch.

Good Morning! The sun is shining and the humidity is on the rise again. We had another nice rain shower last night. It must have gotten windy during the night as we have a good sized branch hanging in the tree. I hope it will come down if Bob just pulls on it; he's not climbing a ladder! Yesterday we were eating lunch and three guys came walking through the neighbor's back yard. They've had flags in place for several days with painted lines in between the whole width of their yard. They dug holes by the flags and then came in with a machine that buries tv cable. They came over on our yard where Bob planted new grass this spring which didn't sit too well. As we watched Bob turned on the tv saying he hoped the guy didn't cut our cable. Yup, that's exactly what happened! We had no tv, internet, nor phone connection. Bob went flying out the door and across the yard. All three guys looked just plain stupid like "what's up with you?" They were digging and burying new cable, for the neighbor, the cable company we don't use of course. Our cable company couldn't get a repairman out until this afternoon but the burying guy in charge called their company and a guy came right away. Lucky for us and for them. Bob was more than a little mad. I'm just glad he was home! This morning I washed a load of summer shirts that are going to the SOS store ASAP. Bob got the guy across the street to help him get the treadmill in the pickup so that's gone. I'm doing some hit 'n miss cleaning in the basement this morning. The basement fix-it company is coming the 6th check our cracked basement wall. I am seeing $$ signs on that project. :hyper:

I was a busy girl yesterday. I push mowed the front lawn and then tackled the redbud tree. I'm not a professional but think I did ok for a 70 year old woman. Today I'm tackling the flowerbed and try to get rid of the old, rotten landscape timbers
I have a load of laundry from yesterday to put in the dryer so I'll do that in a few minutes

Good Afternoon! The sun is shining and the air conditioner is humming away. It's not as hot but the humidity is higher. I ran some errands this morning and had my nails done. I need to dust and vacuum but also have a new library book calling my name. Baby is taking her nap so I should work on the afghan while she's sleeping.

Ceejay, I imagine with your hard work in your yarn, it is really looking nice. :D

I need to do some dishes and write a couple of church birthday cards. No mail delivery and the banks being closed on Monday is rearranging my usual Monday schedule. Have a nice rest of a terrific Thursday! :wave:

my cousin from my dad's side contacted sis and told her about a family reunion. in August. think we are making plans to go..
I've done a couple of loads of laundry and that's about it. and walked 1/2 mile this morning..

our weather has been hot but nit any where near 100 degrees this year. the humidity is rough at time. and no rain in sight for a couple of days

Good Evening! I started a post and got interrupted with a phone call, then when I came back it wouldn't let me continue typing. Weird! It was a very hot and humid day with no wind. There are heat warnings again for tomorrow but I need to count church money, make the gift shop deposit, pick up a few groceries, and drop a check off at the hospital so I will be out and about. I ended up riding in the 4th parade with Bob, in the pickup. The car in front of us had walkers throwing candy so we really had to watch for the kids running into the street. Walkers were supposed to go to the curb and hand the candy to kids not throw it. I'm glad we were passing out water bottles, over 1,000! The route was packed to the max after being canceled last year. We were invited to a tractor ride friend's for a potluck supper. His birthday is the 4th; we have gone before so know their adult kids also. They live on an acreage close to town and we could see the fireworks from their house. Someone was still shooting firecrackers when I went to bed. Lakeshore people are pulling their boats out of the lake. The lake is so clear the sun has made the algae and stringy seaweed grow to the surface and get wound up in boat propellers. The no clue boaters will keep trying to get through it and eventually ruin the propeller and possibly their motor. I'm not sure it how it affects the ducks and geese. Bob says it will stink when it dries. Some have been trying to rake it out but it moves with the wind. Not a pretty sight either. :no:

Ceejay, it sounds like we have the same weather going on. A family reunion would be fun. We’ve never had one on either side, except for immediate family.

Think I will head for bed and read my book. Haven't heard any firecrackers tonight. :wave:

I didn't sleep very well last night. Think it was due to mine and sissy tiff on Sunday. She got upset Sunday as the ac to the house was out again. And I saw something under the couch, fished it out and it was a whiskey bottle. Yep, nephews. but he's back in rehab.
Was supposed to have a medical assessment today and tried to cancel but my insurance called and the NP canceled. it's rescheduled for the 9th. have you ever had an assessment. At least the living room, dining room. and kitchen git cleaned..
My peace plant has a bloom and another that will bloom very soon..
​​I was going to work in te backyard today but had some intestinal issues so I stayed inside. will try again tmo. sis let me bring her wheel borrow to do some heavy stuff.
