Yes, Kiwi, just don't channel me.
That lady did look great - but I'm holding out for turning into a bleached blonde 30 something hottie. I'm sure if I just lose some more weight I will morph into one. :dizzy: Don't mind the fact that I've only got a little over 2 years to go until the big 5-0. Sorry about the fil, Sugar. Hope his surgery goes well. Painty, I like the apple addition to my salad. I usually add the walnuts (toasted in a pan first - yumm) but I was trying for a really low cal version since I can't seem to lose anything lately. I'm on one of those dreaded plateaus that ppl are always talking about. The weather forecast is for mid 80's for the James Taylor concert on Sunday. Yippee. |
James Taylor  is playing outdoors? :cloud9: I'm moving to Oregon right now. :sunny:
I can't think of anything else to say. It's almost as if..as if..someone is sucking thoughts out of my head so that I can't think them. I have the vague image of a cute short haircut and red stripes; I can't see anything else.....:tired: kiiiiii..........:faint: |
Check out the http://www.toolbar.google.com . (I think that's it!) It allows you to block pop-ups and a couple of other features. It is free.
Kiwi, I am right there in the passenger seat with ya!! We did a mall parking lot on Saturday, the back lot. Yikes!! He is almost 18, so he doesn't need the formal ed, I get to do it. I did enjoy seeing the pure fear on his face. Yep, evil mom I am. Gotta get my kicks somewhere. |
Muff, why'd you wait so late? I have issues with this driving stuff too. Cost of insurance is the main issue.
It's my day off. Don't post though (cept Muff) cause I won't be here. I am substitute teaching in an emotionally handicapped class at the elementary school. That teacher couldn't get anyone to it and ended up asking me. I am NOT looking forward to it either but it's money and money is good. Love, Peaches SOCK! |
|
Why did I wait so long? He had to show me he was at that maturity level required to handle a 2 ton vehicle. And there were grade issues.
|
That is interesting, Sugar, are you going to start journaling? I start, then realize just how boring my life is, get depressed, and quit. The book she quoted - A Fine Balance - was one of the best books I've read in a very long time. If you haven't read it, you should.
Cowper, the secret to the insurance cost is to have the DS get a part time job so that he can pay his own, and keep your fingers crossed that he get no tickets, because then the cost really goes up. What is emotionally handicapped? different from mentally handicapped? I actually attended a WW meeting yesterday. I am re-dedicated to getting the rest of the weight off. I could do 15 pounds by New Years, right? |
i used up a large number of points today JUST because I was at dh's uncle's funeral and felt i deserved coconut cream pie with meringe {sp??} oh well, i had lots of flexie's left so i will be okay---tell me about your re-dedication miss wabby---i need motivation!!----i lOVED "a fine balance " as well ---have you read "fall on your knees " by anne marie mac donald???----these are both canadian authours and the books are marvellous AND they were big fat Oprah Picks---I am reading " the lovely bones" and at first it is interesting but now i am finding it rather tedious----------TELL US ABOUT YOUR DAY PEACHTEACH
|
Wabby, the boy has no time to get a job I think. He gets on a school bus at 6:45 and gets home at 5:00 or so. We don't live near any businesses or restaruants. He is supposed to keep up his truly outstanding scholastic successes and haul in a lot of scholarships. He's just not driving. Maybe when he's older like MuffieBoy.
The day was excellent. There were two fulltime aides and one greeted me with, "We'll handle everything. You're just a warm body. You may want to close your eyes and ears at times." The kids were the kind who I foresee as part of the inmate populations. They all swore, had little patience, didn't stay on task. But this one aide, the one who greeted, me was more than wonderful. She sang and danced and cajoled them and never lost her temper. I want to be thin like Bagz. |
Quote:
Hey, everyone should do what they're good at. Wow, that's not the nightmare I envisioned, Cowpeach; you really lucked out with those 2 aides. Didn't you have to do anything? Today was the day DD started back to her private music lessons -- this year she is taking voice as well as guitar. Fortunately the lessons are back-to-back. It's still an hour drive each way. But soon she will be sharing the driving! kiwi |
Wabby, I want to point out that I think your idea is GREAT and I wish ds had a job. Would mature him and develop some self-confidence but since we can't do it all, I would opt for staying on the course he's succeeding at right now. Does Succeed have all those C's and E's in it for real?
Where is Lush? Did channeling through me tire her out? No, Kiwieenie. I didn't do a thing other than walk a kid to the nurse for his pill; attempt to help the biggest boy with some science but he was distracted by the other side of the room; attempt to help the smallest boy find a test on the computer but he wanted the aide NOT ME and made it really clear. I did enjoy lunch and get to sub in the art room in two weeks. |
Sug-- so sorry about FIL. those sorts of things unbalance the WHOLE family system. Hope your DH has all the soothing and comfort HE needs. :)
Great summary of journal benefits at Why Write.... If any of you want my class outline with journal techniques, I think I could attach it as a file. Mmm. It's probably a publisher file... would have to see if I can make it plain text. Pennebaker was in Dallas until he and his wife retired to the Hill Country. Writing actually lowers blood pressure and raises immune system functioning... and with Dr.P's help, we can make it even MORE effective. (Alot of my journaling has consisted of haranguing myself. :( Bless the parents that have to teach their kids to drive. My kid's dad didn't WANT him to work. "Get good grades and study, son"... Well, son wasn't all that motivated and so he didn't expect all that much of himself and just schlepped around. Well, he's surrepticiously gotten a job at the college bookstore, AND is TA'ing a physics class and GRADES ARE ACTUALLY BETTER!!!! Go figure. Cowabunga... congrats on making it through the day. Can hardly wait to hear about you subbing in the art room! (How old ARE these kids?) Maybe the Special Ed ones were all victims of shaken baby syndrome... So sad when that happens... OK. It's late. Off to dream land. |
Have I posted lately? I don't remember. I think posting on these boards is very similar to journaling. I find myself too boring to keep up with a real journal, too. I run out of things to say within a day. But on this board, there is nothing too trivial for me to go on and on and on and on about. Isnt' that what journaling is???? giving a place to the minutiae of your thoughts.
Speaking of minutiae, I am de-junking today. I have already thrown out four HUGE trash bags...the kind that line a full sized trash can. I am going to go throw away some more. Sugar P. I am so sorry to hear about your fil. Special ed kids are my favorites. Art is fun, too. Worst is a normal 1st grade class. They think they are cute. They have problems judging when they need to go to the bathroom. I'll be back, I'm going back to my trash bags. L |

Peach, your priorities (school first, driving - way down the list) is the best way to go. Besides, he can always drive with a permit (and his mom sitting next to him) with no increase in insurance. It always amazed me that having a kid driving with a permit didn't raise premiums, but if they took a driving test that essentially certified the fact that they know how to drive, their insurance goes sky high.
I'm not feeling well. first day of you-know. bleeeh. I think I may go home. |
Poor Wabby....feel better. I'm getting ready for company....motivate me...I'll be back with a list. L
|
Thanks, guys. Went to visit fil today and he was doing all right. Way more cheerful than usual, actually. That's because they're feeding him healthy food and NO beer. Duh.
I dunno if I could ever do a public journal - I'd be afraid someone might read it! :o We'll see. Would probably be a good way to get rid of some of this existential angst, or whatever it's called. This place is like one big fat group blog. We should be on Oprah right after Dr. Phil. Dh is actually considering moving us all to Vancouver! Wheeee!!! Don't know how or when, but we're looking into it. Will probably have to take up a collection. I'd miss the butcher's wife terribly |
Lunch
2 boneless skinless chicken breasts, chopped in 1 inch (or so) chunks
1/2 yellow onion, diced 1 small potatoe, diced 3 cloves garlic, diced 2 chile peppers of your choice, diced (remove veins/seeds if you don't want all of the spice) 1/2 can of bean of your choice 3 roma tomatoes, diced 2-3 tbs of chile powder (I put a dried poblano into the spice grinder) Olive oil Put enough olive oil in the pan to saute the onion, potatoe, garlic and chiles. Saute until 1/2 cooked and remove from pan. Add and saute the chicken. When chicken is just about done, sprinkle in 1/2 of the chili powder and coat chicken. Saute about 3 minutes. Add the onion mixture, beans, and tomatoes. Stir and then add salt/pepper and the rest of the chile powder. Cover and cook on low for 10 minutes, stirring frequently. Use for burrito's, taco's or over rice. Serves 2 people. Wabby/Baggzzzzzz, could I eat something like this on WW?? Sug, glad the FIL is in good spirits. Moving to Vancouver....haven't you wanted to do that for a long time? No interview calls this morning. I guess I will continue to clean my room. I actually have clothes hanging in my closet and you can see the floor!! I have to rearrange the furniture so that I can bring the dresser that pumpkin and I share out of her teeny room and put it in my room. My only problem is the victorian settee (sp?) that granny gave me. Can't find a wall for it. My bed has to be in the middle of the room because my room used to be the garage, then they turned it into a living room with a wood burning stove. Under my bed is this big sqaure of huge stones that was used for the hearth. Makes it difficult to arrange stuff in there. Have a good day kids. |
I think I must be coming down with something. I don't actually have any cold symptoms except my throat was all itchy last night (pro'ly allergies), but I'm just tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiired. Tired tired tired. I go for a walk, I come back exhausted. I can't concentrate on your posts -- are you writing in tongues? blahhhhhhhhh
Maybe it's the rain :rain: Kiwi |

This much I know: you're repeating yourself
|
Muffie, that would be a perfect WW meal. Just don't ask me to figure out the points. Oh, and go easy on the olive oil.
I wasn't cr*ppy feeling enough to go home. Just cr*ppy enough to be grumpy with everybody here at work. We went to DS's GF's mom's house yesterday for birthday cake and ice cream for GF's 19th birthday. It was fresh banana cake. I ate it, and I'm not sorry I did. Bagzie, I'm not sure how I'm going to rededicate myself to WW's. I'll let you know if I come up with anything. Maybe I should go shopping and try on clothes in front of a 3 way mirror w/ harsh lighting. I'm going to go check out a gym tommorrow am. I mean I have an actual appointment and a month free membership. I figured I'll try it and see if I actually use it. The only problem is that it's about 20-30 minutes away, so will I get lazy and not want to drive that far? Sugar, if you move to Vancouver we'll practically be neighbors - we can gripe about rain together. Well, you're all probably relaxing and drinking margies at this point, except Lohani who is entertaining like a regular Martha by now. Have an absolutely loverly weekend. :) |
wasting away again in margeurita-ville---------------------lookin for my lost shaker of mrs dash

Gee, Bagz, it's a bit early in the day, isn't it?
I didn't get to do anything fun last night. Big excitement was arguing with DH over what to do for dinner, which turned out to be him bringing home Stouffer's frozen lasagna after taking DD to McDonald's and the football game, where she walked around in the rain the whole time because the pep band doesn't play when it's raining (but the game goes on). And then I got to wait around until 11:30 when I could go pick her up from the H.S. dance. At least she had fun. Heck, I'm not really complaining; at least I avoided cooking. I deeply resent cooking on Friday nights. Sugar, I think you should move here. I'm more fun than Vancouver, can't you tell? Wouldn't your DH like to work for a failed paper mill? Heck, I don't even know what he does for work. But around here, it wouldn't matter -- most everyone is unemployed anyway. That's like inviting someone to have a root canal with you, isn't it? Oh well. Kiwi |

Did 40 (count 'em) minutes on the machine. I've come to the conclusion that all this would be worth it if I actually had a waist. I'm just a blob in the middle. Today I was downtown and saw the most fascinating window treatment show in a department store. Reams of fabulous curtains attached with velcro that you could just rip down in a flash and create a whole new look. This old guy was doing commentary and had his beautious assistants up on stepladders and then there was a bald guy playing oldies but goodies like "The Rain in Spain Falls Mainly on the Plain" on an electronic organ. I'm sure you envy me. |
Greetings Bovine Beauties.
Today was splendid.... Fell asleep in recliner last night and then got the kinds out by a second sleep in regular bed... Slept to late we went out to lunch! Then bookstore!!!! :D I love bookstores. Found a remaindered guide to flowering perennials, an encyclopedia of craft stuff to do with paper and yet another self-help book.... I get to take 'em as a tax write off. Woohooo! Then looked at a tree farm to see how much tree we can afford to shade the house NEXT summer. Quite a bit, I think! Then did photocopying chore for a colleague.... DH said it was too much trouble to cook, so we rounded up our long "afternoon" at Quizno's... Then he worked on a small veneer table for my office, I cleaned/puttered/ weeded... Very nice. I have 2 bags of shredded discarded files to throw out. OUGHT to get into closet. Dr. Phil's admonition to throw out fat clothes is scary. (Even though there isn't anything in my closet now that is TOO big! hahaha) Lush... the difference between posting and journaling is that (theoretically) you don't have an audience when you journal... so you really have to say what that secret deep dark buried part of you wants to say, rather than responding to whatever is "out there." Of course, sometimes the secret deep dark buried part of you has a lot of cr*p that needs to be cleared of the surface, and that's very much what some journal entries start out with!! Sug: would love to have you in a more compatible time zone, though it is fun to have your answers when I get up in the morning! Do you do side stretches and leg raises? They REALLY made a difference in the muscles around my waist.... I'm still bulgey (sp?) but at least there is SOME definition there! Tomorrow should be a holiday. Act like it is one and have a great day. |
Hey!
Sure is quiet in here today! Just got back from the in-laws and another marathon "noon" dinner. Yes, it's now 5:00PM. eeeeeeeeeeeeeee! It's pouring rain here, and I don't think it plans to stop any time soon. But at least it's pretty warm. :rain: Not too unpleasant. But I can't get my walk in (and don't be telling me to go walk in the mall: that's 75 miles away). Should I just jump up and down a lot? Kiwi |
So everybody's watching football or what? I hope you get the beautiful weather we have today soon.... In lot 70's, sunny, clear and not humid. DD in Boston said everything was just DAMP.... (She wasn't aware that Hurricane Juan was heading for Nova Scotia... hope y'all are tied town and well anchored.)
Later. |
SOCK!
We aren't all watching a football game. Some of us are reading James Patterson's books. I've read two and they were very similar. Good but not different. That's the boring news from Lake Woebepeaches. |
