Ceejay, I don’t know what happened to my two cents worth but it just went poof into cyber space. As I said earlier, I hope you don’t catch the family cold. Not fun! I’m sure your bil and sister both appreciate your chauffeuring skills. I try to remember to change the batteries in the detectors around Christmas time. This year the smoke alarm started chirping before I had the batteries bought. I had to have a new watch battery before Christmas and for some reason it would stop every few days. I’d reset and it would work fine for a few days. I went back to the jewelry store yesterday and the clerk checked the battery, which was good, and said she brushed out around the innards thinking dust or lint she couldn’t see, so far so good. I looked at watches while I waited and didn’t really want to spend $200+ on a new watch. I need to clean our bedroom. I suppose it is the bedding but it seems like the dust just accumulates so fast! What kind of soup are you making? I had broccoli cheese soup for lunch with a half ham sandwich. It’s a soup kind of day here! I am off to bell practice, enjoy your evening!

”Gma,” I missed seeing you here today!

I was holding my breath on the two cents worth. Didn't know what to expect. I'm making veggie soup tomorrow. It's to late right now. Never was a fan of broccoli soup. I did buy new batteries for the smoke/co2 detectors. Now to install them.
I'm curious. Do either of you have a medicare advantage plan or regular medicare? I wasn't really happy with the medicare advantage plan that I had.
Need to shoot my niece a text. Ya'll have a good rest of the day.

Ceejay, we just have regular Medicare with a BC/BS supplement. Bob doesn’t think anyone around here sells the Medicare advantage. For some reason the Plan F we are on isn’t being sold any more. I’m just glad I don’t have to figure out the insurance pros and cons. Vegetable soup sounds good!

I will probably get a supplement when the enrollment period starts back again.

It's a gloomy day and supposed to rain later.
I've already put my vehicle in the shop and it will more than likley be there all day. Most of it is for maintenance but I do need new brakes and an axle is leaking.
Going to make my soup this afternoon and clean in my bed and bath room today.
Sis told me last night that bil was in extreme pain last night. I feel so bad for him.

Good morning! I swear I am going to have to set an alarm to remember to come post. I think itís because I use FB so much now. We are expecting some bad thunderstorms starting tomorrow. I ordered some delivery stuff from Fresh Market and theyíre gonna get wet Iím afraid as the delivery is Saturday. Jack will do a WM pick up Sunday so he may get wet too.

I did the tale end of cruise clothes shopping. I bought a longer tankini with swim shorts, a short coverup, a top with matching capris and a top with an over jacket sort of thing in the prettiest violet pattern. We also ordered Jack new undies and socks and took some of his shirts to be laundered. I am waiting for sock yarn to be delivered today to make my bff another pair of footies. She just told me a couple days ago she has a tiny hole in the current pair and could I make her another pr because she always wears them to bed.

I went and had my hair done yesterday and she cut it a bit shorter and I really like it. I think she felt bad for me because I have had ongoing colon stuff for almost a week and I felt awful yesterday. She stays booked up solid so I didnít want to cancel. She even told me to get my appts scheduled for the next two so Iíd be able to get them before vacation. They do a huge amount of weddings and are always busy. I was listening to the guy stylist yesterday while he had a client. I guess he did a lot of movie peopleís hair for movies shot here. He did the cast of the movie the firm with Tom Cruise, did Dwayne Johnsonís (the Rock)hair, Barry Manilowís hair out in Vegas, several others. He was talking about who was nice and who was not. I was sitting with color in my hair with nothing to do so I eavesdropped.

CeeJay: I hope you are feeling better. My medication is my biggest problem, but I have to take it. I love Atlanta. I hope you can arrange a trip soon. Just seems there is no end of medicals for your bil. The poor man. I can give a Medicare suggestion as we have Tricare for Life. I do not I got irritated with them both. Jackís cardiologist had blood tests taken when he was there in October. They did an A1C test for some reason and neither Medicare or Tricare would pay for it so I had to fork out the money. I told him to not allow them to do that test. Heís never had blood sugar problems so donít know why they did the test in the first place. They put the smoke alarm right next to the stove so every time I use the stove over 375 the dang thing beeps when I open the door.

Jean: The gal that is my stylistís assistance said she is going on her own summer but nervous to cut hair a bit. Sheís not only graduated from Paul Mitchell school sheís had two years apprenticeship under my stylist, who is one of the top stylists in the country. Sheís worked the best salons in the country and in her younger years was personal hair stylist for Gene Simmons and Kiss. I told her that if she were an accountant she could go back and fix a mistake but once you cut hair thatís it. My darn keyfob for the car wouldnít let me in yesterday unless I pushed the open lock. Jack says it needs a new battery so heíll have to get that changed out this weekend before I go to the nail salon Monday. Such a pretty picture of Maddy. The kids grow up so fast.

Well gals need to get things done. Have a good afternoon.

Happy Friday! The sun is supposed to be shining but it is in hiding. A north wind is blowing and it is cold outside, but this is winter in Iowa. I have a new hospital accountant and I am so frustrated with her! I need to know individual amounts I am being paid for and she keeps sending me a lump sum. Then I have to ask what it is for, yadda, yadda, yadda. I did find my dollar mistake on the bank statement so I was happy about that. If I already shared that tidbit, chalk it up! I have a roast cooking and need to peel potatoes next, and put clothes in the dryer. I will vacuum and dust after lunch!

Ceejay, I hope your car is all fixed and “running like a top!” I can’t help but think there is a cancer cure out there and “they” aren’t sharing the secret. It is big business and so many in the medical and research fields would be out of jobs. Just a thought. Cancer is so bad and some seem to suffer more than others for some reason. Your bil is in my prayers.

”Gma,” when Jack unfolds his laundered shirts are they wrinkled? Years ago Bob took some of his white shirts to the cleaners and they were so wrinkled I wouldn’t let him wear them. I am like my mom and have a thing about wrinkles. Do you go to a specialist for your colon meds? It’s too bad you can’t take something to alleviate the problem you have. It is hard not to eavesdrop in busy salons. I have done it too although I take my book for pedicures. Maddy got lots of nice comments on her picture, thank you for yours. We think she is pretty special. Jason just told me Zowie got straight As again. She takes after her mom!

I need to get busy on the potatoes! Hope you enjoys a fabulous Friday!

Evening
We just had a very bad thunderstorm. very close lightning, move through. We are still under a flash flood watch and tornado watch tonight. It's been 60 degree's today. My grass is looking green. The temperatures are supposed to drop tonight and early tomorrow and will end up with snow. They are calling for 1-3 inches. I have what I need for the next couple of day so there is no need in me getting out in it.
Cleaned my bathroom today and that's about it. Still haven't made my soup but will in the morning.
My right ear has been giving me fits this week. Should have gone to the minute clinic to see whether or not it's an ear infection. If it's not better I will on Monday. You can't get an appointment with the doctor as they are usually booked for two to three weeks in advanced.
I have an appointment Monday with some one to talk about Medicare options. Don't really want to do this but guess it's better than doing it over the phone.

Jean
Glad you found the mistake The roast and potatoes sound good.

gma
When do you say your cruise would be?

Good evening. We woke up at 4:30 AM to tornado sirens. We came downstairs and luckily we were able to get the weather on tv. We watched it and listened to the storm until it petered out then fell asleep in the recliners. Our grocery stores havenít had power since 4 AM but we do as we are on a different grid. Itís been nasty all day and cold this evening.

I fixed steak kabobs for dinner and they were really good. They were pre marinaded and we put them in the broiler. I drained and pat dried 2 cans of sliced potatoes as there were veg on the kabobs. I put the potatoes in the air fryer and they did great. It was a yummy dinner.

They delivered my Fresh Market order this morning and Jack will go get the WM order tomorrow. I love not having to fight the crowds. WW pick up is free and Fresh Market delivery is $4.00. We vacuum sealed the meat after dinner and will do the WM stuff after he gets home tomorrow.

I put off folding Jackís new underwear and socks until tomorrow then heíll stick those straight in his suitcase. He took his dress pants and they only cost us $17 for 7 pr because he just had them pressed and paid in advance. His shirts are next on the list.

Jean: First off theyíve never given me any meds for my colon stuff. If it gets really bad pain wise I take Aleve. We havenít hit on a diabetes medication solution to calm down my gut. Thatís whatís causing the current problem. I have to have this medication. My diabetes is barely into the medication range so I donít need insulin. Drs donít agree on stuff either. I have to go in next month and will see a new dr again since mine moved to Dallas. My mammogram is the first of next month too and I really need to get to Walgreens and get my flu shot. Itís great when you have kids and grandkids who donít have school issues. I always feel sorry for kids that struggle. His shirts arenít wrinkled but will have a crease here or there. He likes heavy starch so theyíre stiff as a board. Always reminds me of the Lucy episode where Ricky's contest winning one dollar bill-worth three hundred dollars-goes from Lucy's purse to the grocery boy, to Ethel, To Ricky's pajamas, the the Speedy Laundry, where Lucy, attempting to retrieve the bonus buck, ends up in a vat of starch.

CeeJay: Our cruise leaves Miami in April. I ask my friend today if she wanted to go to a guacamole making class that had a Mexican lunch after. She said sheíd never tasted avocado and thought it looked bland. So, I scratched that idea. Ooh hope your ear feels better. Nothings worse than an earache or toothache. One of my meds causes tinnitus and it drives me crazy. We have that with doctors to. They have a tiny few day appts where you see whoever is available, but you can never get in. At least these med clinics take Medicare.

Everyone have a good Lordís Day tomorrow.

Good Afternoon! It's gloomy, cold, and breezy in my neighborhood today. It has just started to snow; the weatherman said 3-7" maybe. Most of our snow was gone again so guess we can't complain. We have been spoiled with milder temperatures and very little snow so far this winter. The bells played at church this morning, "awesome" according to comments later. Bob had a finance meeting right after first service so I came home and put in a load of laundry. We went to see Jason and family yesterday; I wanted to deliver the calendar and we went out for lunch. The 2 1/2 drive home seemed to take longer than usual for some reason. I did get to see the camel and zebra coming and going so that was fun. If we ever see a live person we may stop to visit.

Ceejay, I hope your ear is feeling better. At first Bob thought maybe he had an ear infection but after visiting the dentist twice they think it is connected to the root canal problem. Since he has to wait so long to have it removed I thought maybe he would get an antibiotic from the dentist but none so far. He is living on Excedrin, Tylenol, and Ibuprofen. I’ve done the root canal routine but our local dentist at the time did them and this one does not, so I can sympathize. for a clean bathroom! Good luck with the Medicare appointment.

”Gma,” you have had weird weather! Was there a tornado or were you just supposed to watch for one? I hate when that happens and it’s dark. For some reason I thought you were on insulin. Do you take Metformin? Bob takes that every other day; his doctor wanted him to stop but Bob’s excuse is he doesn’t have to watch his diet as closely. He is not a grazer like I am. Maybe the new doctor might have something new for you to try. Beth hates the weekend clinics because they say to go home, take Tylenol, and call your family doctor on Monday. The last time they tested her for the flu, said she didn’t have it, but she did and was really sick by the time she got on meds.

I need to wash a few dishes that wouldn’t fit in the dishwasher, then unload it when it’s done doing it’s job. Hope you both enjoy the the rest of your Sunday. The snow is coming down in earnest now. Guess maybe the weather guesser was right this time.

We had snow yesterday. Big pretty white feather type snow. But first we had freezing rain and that was beginning to pile up. I didn't go to church this morning as the roads in front of the house looked slick.
Finally made my soup this afternoon. It sure is good. Guess I should have made some cornbread to go with it but I would eat the whole pan of cornbread so I didn't make it.
I'm about to get the house back in order. I'm still going to do some more deep clean next week.
Bil will start his next round of chemo tomorrow. He hasn't felt good this week at all. He didn't preach this morning either.
Don't think my ear hurting is due to a root canal problem. It's more the outer ear than inner ear. and it is a lot better today.
Not sure what to expect from this sales person tomorrow. And I'm sure not understanding about the "window of time" that we have to purchase this stuff. Guess I will find out tomorrow.

More later.

Good Morning! It is starting to get light outside and even though the thermometer says it is "warmer" than yesterday the wind is blowing and it feels colder. We can tell it is staying a little lighter in the afternoon so spring is on the way! On a sad note, my stepmom passed away yesterday. Funeral arrangements are still up in the air; her granddaughter is on her way home from El Salvador, funeral in one town and burial in another two hours away, meanwhile daughter and husband were leaving (flying) on a trip Saturday. She was in Hospice so not totally unexpected but yet it was.

Ceejay, your weather sounds like Iowa weather! We have a restaurant here that serves a little piece of cornbread with every order. The owner went to school down south somewhere and likes cornbread. It is a popular bar-b-q place offering lots of choices. Bob wishes they would offer honey with the cornbread. Hope your ear feels better on its own. How did the Medicare meeting go?

I have errands to run this morning so need to make my list. Hope you enjoy your day!

Just spent most of my morning with an insurance agent and I did apply for a supplemental insurance. Think I will be happy with this more so than the advantage plan. I will know something in a couple of days.
Bil resumed his chemo treatment yesterday and was going to go to Branson with sis. He wasn't to get a pump so I will not have to go get him this time around. And he had some good news for a change from his oncologist appointment as well. This new treatment will give him at least another year, maybe two. But his surgeon will not be doing any surgery. He's been having some severe pain and that could be due to the tumor itself or the results of the radiation. The oncologist gave him something for pain.
While bil was getting chemo sis and I ate lunch at Panera Bread. I love their potato soup and had a grilled cheese to go with that.
I really need to get back on track with the eating and exercise. I do better if I'm held accountable.
I'm thinking about MRC again.
Jean
What I thought was going to be Medicare turned out to be an insurance company selling all kinds of insurance. Thankfully, I dodged that bullet, but still had to listen to the ordeal. Their supplemental insurance was more than the one I applied for, therefore, I stayed with Humana. Humana did offer to work with me. I think if I had called earlier during the year I could have been reinstated. But I'm happy.

Not much is going on.
My cousin's daughter had her baby. A little girl that weigh in at 8 pounds. I think she favors her mother. Thank goodness for FB post.
Decided against buying any more time with MRC. I can work the program at home. But then I may switch back to WW in which I haven't done in years. I didn't like counting points but that may be easier than counting calories. I will choose one or the other next week. This week I'm getting back to the gym. I went yesterday and today.
Sis told me that nephew's wife was wanting him to come back home and she was willing to go to a marriage counselor. They both need to work on some things.

Good Morning! It is seriously snowing and blowing in my neighborhood this morning and is to continue until tomorrow sometime. We are in a blizzard watch, warning, or advisory - take your pick! We were so lucky yesterday, it was sunny but very cold hovering around 0-5 degrees. The roads were clear which made the traveling much easier. I need to get my nails done and a haircut but I am not venturing out today!

Ceejay, I like Panera Bread too! There is one in Sioux City we go once in awhile. I have a hard time choosing where to eat because there are a lot of my favorites there. I hope your bil tolerates the new chemo better than what he had previously. I know cancer treatment varies and treatment changes are being constantly. on going to the gym! Which did you choose, WW or MRC? I liked the exchange of ideas among the WW leader and members at the meetings.

I have clothes in the washer that should be ready for the dryer and some dishes to wash that I don't put in the dishwasher so better keep moving. Hope you are enjoying sunshine today!

Good Morning! The wind is very strong this morning and blowing loose snow around, not a nice day outside. Bob blew and shoveled snow late yesterday afternoon but it snowed more during the night. With the wind the new snow is crusty so not sure how that will blow or shovel if he decides to try. He gets antsy being confined in the house. I wanted to go get a much needed nail fill but not going to happen today. I need to work on clothes today, next week is full of appointments so will be in and out every day.

Hope you all are having sunshine and "warm" today!
