Supper: Nuts
Exercise: 4 mile walk& jog

Positive: Got a dusting of snow. Not too much, so was able to get a walk in yesterday.
Negative: Got to get this body moving more so I can get the weight down.

Renee-glad to learn you had the extra space available for your horses. I tried some Jackfruit yesterday. It worked out pretty good. Have you ever tried it?

Follena-oh my goodness, it is so cold there. I can understand why you are so excited to go to Costa Rica. Congratulations on your e-bay winning. You got the headphones you wanted. Yippee!

Follena 01-30-2019 09:35 AM

Renee: no matter how cold, if that sun is shining it makes such a huge difference. It was shining here too this week so it made things bearable. I have a sun lamp I should start using.
Corinna: Thx can't wait to start using the headphones when they arrive. Good on you for the 4 mile walk/jog. I want to start that in the spring.

Meals: Cream, SKYR yogurt, chicken breast stuffed with feta/spinach, steak & shrimp, broccoli, butter.

Exercise: Just a brisk walk to the mall from my office and back.

Positive: My weight is dropping because I stopped the yoga for the last week. I'll pick it up again when I get closer to goal weight. After work I'm tired and not ready to commit to that just yet. I quit smoking and am eating LCHF so I don't need to go over the top.

Negative: Nothing really. Just staying warm and grateful for Life's blessings.

Negative: Still have a few more rooms to clean. Will do them on my next break in about 4 days.

Renee-I think you are sticking to your portion sizes though, right. So eventually you will see some success. Hang in there. I am counting on you to pull through. I know you can do it. :carrot:

Renee-you were lucky that water wasn't frozen. I guess that made it a little easier for you to change it out. Stay warm.
Follena-Hope you slept better and got the sleep you needed. I can imagine you walking briskly in that cold air. Brr.

Tomorrow is weigh-in. Good luck ladies!

Follena 02-01-2019 09:18 AM

Corinna: thank you so much ... not sure what is going on with my sleep these days. Think I might be crazy excited about my vacation in 12 sleeps :D
Hey, I looked at your weight on your profile page and it doesn't look like you have a long way to go. Or is that weight wrong? I was thinking to myself, oh I can't wait to be in the 150s :carrot:
Renee: have you considered eating low carb healthy fat? No bread, pasta or potatoes, but lots of healthy fat like butter and you don't have to count calories. Try it for a couple months. I still think you could eat your oatmeal at breakfast. I once asked a doctor how he stayed so slim. He said the only time he ate carbs was at breakfast. His lunch and supper only included carbs from veggies, everything else was protein or healthy fat. I've read a ton of books but DietDoctor is an excellent site.

Meals: Cream, coconut flavored SKYR yogurt, lunch is roasted brussels sprout salad with soppressata (salami), parsnip, apple, almond, lemon dressing and fried egg. I'm meeting a friend for lunch today and excited to give the brussels sprout salad a go. Steak for supper.

Exercise: Today is the first day I'm able to park my car 10 blocks from the office to have my nice morning walk. My knee cooperated and we had a couple days reprieve from the nasty cold.

Positive: Being able to walk normal again. Weekend is upon us.

Negative: Last night was another non-sleep night. I think my body just needs 5 hours these days since I'm not exercising? I dunno. Getting old is weird. ;)

Getting ready for a Superbowl party on Sunday. Going to warm up to near 60 this weekend!

Corinna T 02-02-2019 12:24 AM

Breakfast: Banana, Nutrition Drink
Dinner: Mexican Bean Casserole
Supper: Mock Chik Pattie
Exercise: Elliptical, stretching

Positive: Many food temptations at work, and I was able to say no and avoid them.
Negative: I saw others who were on a diet weaken and succumb to the temptations. I should have been more supportive to them, but I was worried about offending them. I couldn't think of an on the spot easy way to encourage them at the time.

Renee-Finally some warmer weather is headed your way. Yippee! What are you going to make for Superbowl Sunday? I will be at work and we are having a festive meal there. I am trying to come up with some type of veggie dish/veggie appetizers still to bring. Nobody there likes hummus with celery/carrots. I was told spinach is a no. Another doesn't like cheese. So I am still working on what to bring to share.

Follena-My weight numbers are right. Just a life-long journey of going up and down with the numbers and trying to stay in a good healthy spot. The older I get, the more my body changes, so I have to find new ways to deal with it. It won't be long for you now to reach 150. You are doing good!

Today's weigh in shows..........:goodscale: down 5 lbs! Yippee! :cb: I knew the weight gain from last time had to be my kidney stones acting up. So really I probably had a loss last week of a few pounds. I'm still on track. Hope you both have great success too.

Exercise: walk/jog for 30 minutes

Positive: Love the drifting snow during my walk. Happy to see the sheep kicking up their heels in the field, even though its cold.
Negative: Didn't exercise as much as I like yesterday.

Renee-let me think about this, how can we change things to get that scale smiling at you again. Perhaps your body has gone into the next zone for your age, and the same foods you have been eating for the last few years are now no longer as conducive towards keeping your weight down. So you may have to shake things up a bit.
  • Maybe lowering your carb intake may help. I know that's what keeps you going and warm, but maybe just cutting them down a little or finding a better substitute. Cooking is something you like, so this may give you a chance to be more creative in your meals. I recently tried fennel for the first time, cut up in a meal, and it was very tasty.
  • How about more soups/salads? It may take more preparation for you to make different meals for you and your husband, but it could be worth it in the long run.
  • Try substituting a nutrition drink for a one meal a day. They are several out there. Some taste okay, and some are heavily loaded with vitamins. I have tried several. I am currently using Almased, which is a powder that I add to water (or milk). It keeps me from getting hungry. I use 1/2 the amount that they suggest, and it works out fine for me for one meal. I have tried adding straight cocoa powder or cinnamon as suggested, but I prefer it plain and with just water. That cuts some calories out of my day and is still healthy.
  • Try a different type of exercise that takes only 20 minutes and you can do from your chair. I found this one on youtube.com at /watch?v=azv8eJgoGLk Take a look and tell me what you think? :)

Follena-Wow, you definitely got some sleep. That is good. Your body needed it.
Congratulations on your 1.8lb loss. Yes for success! Good job :carrot:
Now don't lose the momentum, keep it going, you know how to do it so don't stop.
:cheer:

Oh Renee! Sorry to see you leave the thread. But I understand there's a right time for everything. Thanks for the good luck and all the same to you

Positive: Got a lot more house cleaning done. It kept me away from the food and I got a bit of exercise from it.
Negative: My diet buddy is taking a pause for now. I don't want to lose contact with her.

Renee-I am always here for you no matter what. Our friendship over the years is based on something more important, and that is what comes from the heart/soul. So you can post whatever you want, and whenever you want. I'll understand. Friends always

Follena-Sorry to hear that your work or office environment is so unbearable. It must be very frustrating for you and unsatisfying. Your vacation is coming up soon to give you a break from it all.

Meals: Cream, 6 slices bacon, A&W teenburger wrapped in lettuce and sweet potato fries, Red Lobster: 3 cheese stuffed mushrooms, Caesar salad with shrimp no croutons.

Positive: The knee I injured on ice a few weeks ago is completely healed. After Costa Rica (and may be even during), I plan on resuming yoga. Also seeing my lovable niece for supper tonight. Also can't wait to see my lovable cat after work - it's crazy how much I love her.

Negative: Corinna thank you so much for putting up with my talk of the office. Today my negative is the weigh scale told me I'm up one pound. I never like to see that, especially after eating on plan. But ... weight loss is not linear so I'll survive :D

Supper: Veggie pizza, celery, hummus
Snack: protein bar
Exercise: 4 mile walk

Positive: My husband walked with me yesterday. No encouragement needed. I am looking forward to cooking a new meal today.
Negative: Ate too much last night while watching TV. I need to remove the food from the room. I already know this too.

Renee: Wishing you much sunshine to chase away those rainy days.

Follena: Nice avatar picture. Is that recent? That is good news that your knee has healed. I know you must be so happy about that. I can understand how you feel about your cat. My dog is like my own kid. I love him so much and he is definitely spoiled.

Have a happy Tuesday!

Follena 02-06-2019 09:27 AM

Corinna: that is so nice your husband came for a walk without any coaxing. Stuff like that makes my day. Awww, you have a dog. They are like our children. And I bet your dog is happy to join you for walks every single time! My avatar picture is a couple years ago when I took the grown kids to Disneyworld in Orlando. More recent pics are on my profile page. I just love the one that's 2 years ago because it reminds me of me at my goal weight.

Meals: Cream, 5 slices bacon and 2 fried eggs, 80 grams peanuts, salad from The Chopped Leaf. I've been allowing more and more food in my diet .. especially with the cold snap of weather. Now it's time to cut it back again.

Exercise: walking at lunch

Positive: Went for a tanning session yesterday and the warmth felt so good. I put lotion all over but must have missed my left ear ... because it got a little crispy :D

Negative: Have a little stomach upset since last night but better this week than next! A road trip for work was cancelled today due to my boss having the flu so maybe I have a bit of the same.

Positive: Beautiful, sunny day. Nice walk with husband. Snowdrop flowers are all around. Good day overall.
Negative: feeling like I am bloating up again. That's not good.

Renee-Guess the Groundhog is predicting an early spring. That means your flowers will soon be blooming spreading beauty everywhere.
Follena-That would be terrible to get sick. I hope you get well soon. You definitely don't want anything impacting your trip. I use to use a tanning bed many years ago, when I lived in a colder climate. I remember the warmth from it. Unfortunately, I got skin cancer some years later and I believe it was from using it. Hope your body is stronger than mine. What a very sweet cat and lovely family. You are truly blessed. :)

Have Happy Thursday! Remember God Loves You!!

ja23 02-07-2019 04:55 AM

Please may I join your group? Really need the motivation. Want to lose some stubborn weight xxx

Follena 02-07-2019 09:09 AM

Corinna: I'm so sorry to hear you got skin cancer! I've rarely used a tanning booth. For my trip to Costa Rica, I've only booked 4 times. I absolutely will not make a habit of it. Goodness. What was the treatment for your cancer? Glad you're okay now

Meals: Cream/coffee, OMAD One Meal a Day today and a lot of water. Tonight I'll likely have chicken wings and salad.

Exercise: walking to shopping mall and back (25 blocks) at lunch

Positive: I'm feeling better today. I slept deeply last night and this morning I woke in a total sweat. Whatever cold was trying to creep in, was kicked right out of my system. Glad I drank a lot of water yesterday. I always take a daily 1000 mg Ester-C as well.

Negative: Nothing. I feel very grateful to be surrounded by loving family and friends. One of my retired friends is turning 65 tomorrow. I'll have her over for supper Saturday.

Dinner: Central American Lentil Salad
Supper: Mock Chik pattie, granola
Snack: Handful chex mix
Exercise: Elliptical, stretching

Positive: My husband said I am starting to look skinnier. I am happy about that. Maybe he is just trying to motivate me, but I think it may be partially true. So I am happy about that.
Negative: Ate too much food yesterday. I know why, I was cold. However, I should have found some other way to fight it.

Renee-Hope you had a nice Thursday. You must be in the early stages of planning for your garden by now. I have a few pumpkins left over from last year that I am hoping to plant the seeds from soon. Just need to get the area cleared up a bit first.

Follena-My skin cancer was only in the early stages, so I got it before it spread. I have had a few other areas over the years, but I stay on top of it, and anything that looks unusual is removed. So all is fine here. Yippee for getting rid of that cold! Glad you are feeling much better.

Happy Friday! Stay warm!

Positive: Tried a new fitness class earlier this week. Trampoline fitness class with weights. It was great fun.

Negative: I wanted to go to another Trampoline class today but my body is still sore and aching today so skipped it.

Wishing you a lovely Friday. Hoping to get to know you better during our weight loss discussions. Yes stay warm! It’s rainy here today! ☔️

Follena 02-08-2019 10:14 AM

Corinna: Awww, your husband is noticing your slim figure just in time for Valentine's  I'm like you ... want to eat more when I feel cold. Your food looks absolutely amazing .. so healthy.
Ja23: I love almond milk shakes with fruit, used to do that all the time.
Trampoline fitness with weights sounds like a blast. But my imagination is taking me to bad places in my head ... LOL. I have visions of me flying through the air, the weight flying in the other direction ...
I notice you are in UK just like Corinna. Canadian over here :)

Meals: Cream/coffee, OMAD One Meal a Day today and a lot of water. Tonight I'll likely have a taco salad with ground beef, no tortilla chip. We're taking my bro-in-law out for his 60th birthday ... luckily it's not hard to eat low carb in a restaurant

Exercise: just running around. Viewing a house with one of my sons and running to grocery store to pick up a birthday cake. Maybe some stairs at the office.

Positive: Getting more and more excited for Costa Rica trip in 5 sleeps. My bro-in-law sent me a trip cost spreadsheet yesterday (airbnb condos, car & hotel rental, day trips etc). And the family is already talking about a Vegas trip. I might be retiring later than I thought lol. Ahhh ... good problems.

Negative: Nothing. Just really want to be conscious of good choices while on a 3 week holiday in a country where low carb is not possible. Their staple is rice and beans. So I'll be switching to low calorie.

Renee-Has the temperature raised there yet to dry it up some?

Follena-Sounds like you had a busy, but fun day yesterday. 5 sleeps, the days are just whizzing by! You will be airborne before you know it.

ja23-Trampoline with weights! Now that takes some coordination. You must get a really good workout doing that. I see you have some good meal choices too. Good luck with your starting weigh-in.

Hi all
I am loving reading your posts.
Am I too late to join you on your weight loss adventures?
I have found myself out a notebook to keep track of what I am eating so I can keep a record and in the front I obviously had this plan back in 2017 because the start date says 15st 3lbs...........Im now 17st. If thats not incentive to stick with it I dont know what is.
Food shopping tonight and then on it afresh tomorrow.

Follena-You are a nice person and you have really nice neighbors too. That is something really positive.

LittleLostMe-welcome to this thread! We would love to have you join in. We weigh-in once a week on Saturday. Hope to see you return and be committed.

Have a Happy Monday!

Corinna: thank you for being our fearless leader on this journey. No matter about the cookies. You'll push past that and have better OP days this week. :)
Little: :welcome2: I'll have to abbreviate your name because no one is lost on this thread ;) Hope you stick around and post your daily meals, exercise, positives and negatives, and weekly weigh in. It's a great thread for accountability and support.

Meals: No breakfast, Chili for lunch, 9 chicken wings for supper.

Exercise: walking to mall and back at lunch.

Positive: All packed for my Costa Rica trip. Tomorrow I'm taking my house / cat sitter for a quick supper and will give her my print out of instructions for feeding/litter etc. I have zero stress because I'm all prepared.

Negative: I will really miss my cat :D :dizzy:

Dinner: Broccoli, brown-eyed peas and rice
Exercise: Walk 30 minutes

Positive: I'm on break for few days now. Weather prediction is cloudy, but not alot of rain. I hope to get some walking in sometime.
Negative: This cold is still trying to get ahold of me. I might beat it yet.

Follena-just think that your cat is having some company over for a bit while you are gone, entertaining your friend. It will all work out fine. Now you can just relax and really enjoy your vacation. Less stress due to all your wonderful preparation. I hope you a smooth flight, wonderful weather, great food, and great time with family.

Hello all and thank you for the welcomes.
So here is my day one of holding myself accountable.

Breakfast: One piece of wholemeal bread, no spread and a small spread of jam - cup of tea
Dinner: Half a tin of beans on 2 pieces of dry wholemeal toast
Tea: 3 egg omelette with onions and mushrooms
Supper - small bowl of cereal with milk
Snack: Apple, Celery sticks
Exercise: walked to the school, tried a 10 minute exercise video with 1.25kg weights (but only made it 7 minutes in before everything hurt) and then went for a 10 minute walk with the kids after school.

Positive: I started and have made a plan of action and my 14 year old son seems to want to help me.
Negative: Was so hungry by 5pm that I was slightly light headed and almost inhaled my omelette.

Plan of action for today are
  • make a vegetable soup - that I can either drink/eat as a meal or use to curb hunger pangs and snack on. Will add pulses as well to make it more filling.
  • Ordered oats (my mother in law is doing a food shop so saves me having to go near any temptations - so I will make oats in the slow cooker overnight or in the fridge so I have a ready breakfast to enjoy.
  • Look up healthier meal alternatives and make a shopping list for fruit/veg etc that I need.
  • walk the dogs with my son and daughter later
I need to start taking my medication properly though - meant to take it at 7am adn have only just taken them now at 10.30 and my head feels all wonky :-/

Corinna: (((thank you))) so much for such lovely wishes for my vacation. I'm going to keep posting on this thread if I can. Because it will really help stay mindful. I just won't be able to do the Saturday weigh-ins. I hope you beat that nasty cold off and enjoy your days off and the walks :)
Little: hi there. Nice to see your post. I love that your 14 year old son is supportive. Oh oh getting too hungry by 5 pm might mean you need to switch around when you have your big meal? I don't know about you, but I often make mistakes on my eating plan when I let myself get too hungry :) How lovely that you are motivated by your babies Ben & Holly. You deserve happiness.

Meals: No breakfast, Cobb salad with tofu for lunch, 80 grams cashews for supper. Really lightening it up since the chili yesterday was high carb.

Exercise: I confess nothing today. I have a few back to back errands after work.

Positive: 1st day after we land in Costa Rica we take a tour of Tortuguero on the Caribbean coast, a lovely mix of jungle and beach.

Negative: nothing. Bueno. Nos vemos del otro lado!! (Alright. I'll see you on the other side)

Breakfast: Waffles and veggie links
Dinner: Veggie Pizza
Exercise: Small walk less than 30 minutes

Positive: Feeling a little better today
Negative: Ate too much pizza last night

Follena-Thank you for the well wishes. Cobb salad with tofu sounds yummy. I hope you stick to healthy foods on your trip.

LittleLostMe-Day1 and you got a plan. That is a great way to get started. I can tell you are determined already. Especially since it is not only for you, but for your family as well. That will keep you motivated. Plus they are already supportive of you in your efforts too. You are off and headed to success.
