Morning all.

Susie – How’s Genny doing at the rehab facility? Hope she’s progressed enough to go home in the next day or two. == Good job on the garage clean-out. Ours isn't awful since we did an organization project a few years back, but it does have to be cleaned in terms of the floors and walls. == Good luck at TOPS tonight!== Are you working from home today?

Happy – Extra busy as usual. But you sure sound happier with your work at the senior center vs the thrift shop – you’re able to help out without as much drama with all the controlling/change-resistant personalities?? Or maybe it’s a different kind of dysfunction that just doesn’t bug you as much, lol. == I can’t see liking the skin of a kiwi either, though I do eat the potatoes with the skin on them. They are cooked, so it’s a different thing entirely. == I’m so sorry you’re hurting a lot of the time. It would so great if a change in eating habits could lessen your aches and pains as it has helped Annie!! == Congrats on the new TOPS group!!! Hope your first meeting went well. I say just create fake members if you need them to keep it going…

Ceejay – How’s your week going?? Little Miley is going to keep you on your toes.

Shad – I guess I agree regarding the bank – I think if I didn’t have branches so conveniently located as I do, I’d be doing most things online or via ATMs or getting cash back from the grocery. I rarely have to visit our safe deposit box. I also have an online-only bank account and it's easy to transfer funds. When BF and I see a new building going up in our area, we’ll say, “I wonder what’s going up there?” And then I say “How much you wanna bet it’s going to be another bank branch?” And it often is! I can’t believe how many are still built when most of the time you just need an ATM. And now we have ATMS that dispense bills in the denominations you want, not just 20’s.

Annie – Sounds like you had fun hanging out with neighbors at the fire pit. We just received a card that a few of the neighbors are hosting a casual gathering for the block. I don’t know why I’m not enthused... Usually it’s a nice time. == Nice that your son and C installed the water heater in his house. More money for the vacay!! == How was Red Lobster? == So awesome that your keto WOE is the key to (get it? – keto/key to) alleviating your aches and pains. What a motivator to stay on track with it.

Hi Dee. How's it going?

==
Did my 30 min. of rowing machine last night. I’m up to level 6 now. The display on the machine was very dim yesterday (and I’d been noticing it gradually getting worse the last few times). I told the guy working the desk in the fc to change out the batteries. I believe the rower is the red-headed stepchild of gyms everywhere, LOL.

I found a phone app for heart rate monitoring that recognized the Bluetooth heart rate iFit chest strap that came with the stationary bike. It was working fine through most of my workout yesterday. But when I finished and looked at my phone, the device had dropped off my phone. When I had a chance to look at it later in the evening, I did see that it had captured ~27 min of my rower workout, so most of it. I think I’m working in a good range. I’ll try again tomorrow.

Nothing much else to report. It hasn’t been too hot here, but it has been very humid. Ick, just uncomfortable. But never fear, the hot/humid combo is coming in the next day or so. AC here we come.

This week is going so slowly, can’t believe it’s only Wednesday. I think it’s because it started off with that long Monday. Oh well. Things are getting busy at work and soon I’ll be wishing for more hours in the day.

Okay, off to post. TTFN.

Good Morning Ladies.....Got a song stuck in my head this morning. One I quite frequently get stuck in there. ~~~~Good morning, morning. Hello Sunshine, wake up sleepy head, why'd you move the alarm clock so far away from the bed~~~~Anne Murray. There you go HAPPY...

Thank you everyone for the happy birthday wishes here and on FB. You all are my best sisters and family.

Today is my Friday....oh yeah!

Birthday was fantabulous. Lunch with Sam and SIL was great. SIL gave me a bag full of goodies. Lotions, yard ornaments, garden tins with lavendar, just all kinds of little fun stuff. Lunch was great. Two hard shell tacos, dumped out onto plate not to eat the shell, with extra lettuce and sour cream. Yummy. Just enough, not too full. C got me a bouquet of red and white roses and took me to Red Lobster. Feasted on blackened salmon, grilled asparagus, a regular salad and tomato/mozzarella/basil salad. Was full to say the least. Ate all the salmon and picked at the rest. First real happy birthday I had since dad passed. Not even sad. Just had to keep my mind set.

Yesterday I took off and went to visit a H.S. classmate I hadn't seen in 40 years. She was home from Colorado visiting her parents this week. I went to see her and her parents. Her parents did remember me. One has dementia (her mom). Her dad just couldn't remember. I showed him a pic of me from H.S. and the bells went off. I think cause I had long BROWN hair in high school. Who knows. Anyway we then went to lunch at a quaint little restaurant and talked for a couple of hours. Very nice visit. Trying to talk her into coming to our HS reunion in September.

Today is my Friday. Son is coming up tonight late and staying til Sunday. Yahooo! Tomorrow night (Friday) is the long awaited Steve Miller Band/Peter Frampton concert. I will have to get psyched up to be in a crowd of weird people. lol. I just don't like people that much. At least in crowds. Small gatherings are ok and love to chat.

HAPPY....Please keep your volunteering at the senior center to a minimum and don't let them run over you. So glad you got the TOPS meeting organized in your area. It will be a FUN thing for you rather than WORK. Altho eating right is work. Once word gets out there IS a TOPS meeting in your area maybe others will join. You should put flyers around town and at the pool. I can make them for you, print them off and send them to you. Just let me know the information you want on them. Hope you are feeling better~~mind, heart, body and soul~~Amen.

LAURA...boo on the train delay. That would frustrate me as I am always in a hurry. I try to take the time when delayed like that to pray. Any chance I get extra I pray. Lord knows I need him. We are having a wonderful weather day today. NO HUMIDITY. However, it will be rolling in and be awful day by day til Sunday is miserable. Humidity just takes it out of a person, especially C when going in and out of it. Bleh on that. I get you lil pun about KEY TOE. I have a cute picture I nabbed off of the internet of a key laying next to a picture of a big toe on a foot....KEY TOE. bahahaha.

SUSIE...how was TOPS last night. Come on girl ~~Tell me something good~~ another song. Happy to hear Genny is home. Wish I live closer so I could visit with you and her. Prayers daily! I have a huge list of people I pray for and think I need to write them down as not to forget anyone.

CEEG...So Miley is a sprinter. Just have to eyeball her before opening any doors. Lil stinker. Neighbor has a dog like that. Sheesh once that dog gets out it is about a 45 wrangling session to capture her. I usually give up. She only runs like a 5 house area of our street but is so fast. Her name is Luna and it fits her (the dog not the neighbor). lol

HI DEE hope you are getting along fine!

That's a wrap for me. Have a great weekend if I don't make it back. Make it a great day/night.

Love youse.

good morning ladies,

Busy day for me today. Swimming shortly, then off to TOPS - will I weigh more if I am still wet from the pool? Then I have to cover the phones at the Sr. Center for a couple of hours. Back home, get cleaned up and then over to bingo for the evening.

Yesterday was a busy one. I helped with Farmers Market vouchers. It was a bit disorganized at first but went smoothly. No one wrestling on the floor and when we ran out of them people took it in stride. There was only one complainer. I helped with a few more things and then begged out of there to my next crisis at the Thrift shop. Took care of that, discussed with my partner a new plan since the state gaming commision threw a wrench in our bingo games and we had to readjust. I got home about 3:30. Saw DH off to his camera club meeting and then got a phone call from a friend and spent the next 2 hours talking her off the ledge of frustration. And she listened to me too. But I got nothing done at home and again, I am gone most of the day. Been asked to help out 3 days next week and I keep thinking if I can just get past this week, it's smooth sailing for me afterwards. Not to be as there always seems to be something creeping up... And yes, I am saying no. I said more no's between last Friday and yesterday than I have ever in my life.

Supposed to be a rainy weekend coming up. We could use the extra rain but sure will mess up any outdoor plans.

Annie - you sound quite perky this morning. I'm glad you had a good birthday, Dad would not want you spending your day and his all sad I think. How nice to see someone from the old days. I think now that we are old enough to have 40 years pass between us, it's easier to understand her parents not recognizing you. WE THINK we haven't changed much, but we have. Have a great time at the concert - with those 2 bands there will be alot of jumping around and dancing and such and CROWDS - not exactly an evening with James Taylor Probably be too loud for me and too much standing. Wear comfy shoes and bring earplugs

Laura - create "fake" members - hahahahaha - I got a good laugh on that one. Except I think they want you to pay $5 a week dues or something so we'd have to come up with extra cash. I think once word gets out we are really meeting, we might get more interest. Oh and another thing added to my plate is a request to write an article for the paper about the TOPS group... Good job on the rowing - level 6 is impressive!!! Are you feeling any benefits yet? Perhaps you will have more fun at the neighbors once you get there. I have hesitated about going to things and then wound up having a better time than I thought.

Ceejay - I love the name Miley for a cat. Great name. Do you miss ANYTHING from not working anymore? One of my former coworkers once said - all you are missing is the aggravation! Are you going to be staying home more now?

Hello to the rest of you. Time for me to go squeeze into my swimsuit. Have a good one!

Happy
I don't miss the aggravation at work. I think when my co-worker called me the last time is when I decided to cut all ties with them. Thought I could be their friend but nope not gonna happen. I'm not even missing my co-workers now. Guess it takes time to get every thing out of ones system. My niece name the cat Miley after Miley Cyrus. I've added Kay to Miley so her full name is Miley Kay. How neat to be writing an article for the paper concerning the TOPS group. That will more than likely generate new people.

Laura
Good job on the level 6 in rowing.

Annie, Shad, Susie and Dee hello. I'm be back for more personals a bit later.

-----------
Sis's laptop crashed last night so she couldn't work on the patients charts. Of course she got a little emotional. But she came to grips with it because she said her hubby had been trying to get her to get a new one for over a year. It just seems things happen at the most in opportune time. She was going to stay late at the clinic tonight to work but she called me about 9 to tell me that she'd decided to go get a new one tonight and wanted me to go with her.
I've decided to stay another night tonight to help out. I've learned to drive the riding mower and it doesn't take me as long to mow. I still need to use the push mower in some areas.
Corporate is sending niece to Ozark for some more training which is 20 minute drive both ways. Ugh. Not sure when this will start.

good morning chicks,

Woke up to strong thunderstorms today. We need the rain to wash down some of the tree and grass pollen. Hoping and praying the electricity doesn't bug out.

It's been a long and tiring week. 2 people had meltdowns, had to talk them off the ledge so to say. The work environment is not kind to the good workers and the bad workers have learned to take advantage of loop holes. Not a good place.

Yesterday I went to go swim and got all the way there only to find that they closed the pool because of some chemical imbalance. Wasted trip. Then I find out from one of my pool buddies that the hotel is changing their policy. Up till now it was $6 a pop to swim or you could buy a 10 punch card for $60. Sometimes they offered those at our yearly radio auction or as donated prizes for silent auctions so over time I have accumulated 3, ten punch cards. Which up till now never expired. So first they started putting expiration dates on the cards but were honoring the ones like I had with no expiration - I think they wanted you to use them up by the end of the year which will not be a problem for me. Now my friend said talking to the desk manager they are changing the policy to NOT honor the punch cards during the busy tourist season May - September and instead will charge $7 a visit to use the pool. V told her no guests use the pool in the early morning when we do and the manager agreed. She said it was corporate that was making the rules and she was trying to get them to agree to designating the early morning for us exercisers and setting "open swim" hours later for families and such. What a racket. Well if that's the case, I will just switch over to the pool at the casino lodge. They do a water aerobics class 5 days a week at 9am. It's twice as far for me to go and they don't have a changing or shower room in the pool area but in the warm weather I'd just leave enough time to damp dry and put my clothes on back over my suit. The only thing for the casino is that it's $50 a month to use the pool and that is too much for most of the ladies to put out at once. However if you swim twice a week at the hotel at $6 a pop or $12 a week that's $48 for 8 times in a month - the casino is a better deal. As long of course as you LEAVE the pool and don't go into the casino afterwards

I came back to the Senior Center for our first TOPS meeting. We got the pledge which we all recited and the leader bought us all small journal books which was nice. We have about 6 people. Everyone has lost and gained and struggled and we shared experiences and tips. I think I will like this. One woman who swims with us wants to sit in but refuses to weigh in - she doesn't want anyone knowing what she weighs. The leader explained that the point is to lose weight and someone needs to record that. It's private between that person and the leader. Still no dice so we agreed afterwards that J can't be in the group if she doesn't follow the rules. Like I said, hey - everyone knows to look at us we don't weight 106 pounds so what's the big deal????

After the meeting the kitchen manager asked if I'd run a hot lunch over to the veteran's center which I did. Then I went back downstairs to cover the phones for a couple of hours while the receptionist had to go to the Jennie-O turkey farm an hour away and go pick up a bunch of donated meats. I had bingo that night so I only stayed until about 2:30.

Came home and DH had it in his mind to make a strawberry rhubarb pie so I kind of watched over that. It came out really good says the person who is not a fan of strawberry rhubarb. I made him some chicken salad so he'd have a supper and left right after 4 to get to the center.

Good thing I did. The cook went downstate with the director to go get some award. They were supposed to be back in time for bingo but weren't. I had to set up the room - arrange the tables and make sure there were enough chairs. Our jackpot is about to go so we were expecting a large crowd. I also had to set the fans out to cool off the room as the air conditioning is not working very well. Thermostat was set to 68 but it was 74 degrees in there and the room was empty except for 4 of us working at the time. THEN since the cook wasn't there the poor girl who takes orders and washes dishes was expected to prep, cook, assemble food, take orders, chop up and set out the condiments (onions, tomatoes, pickles, mustard, mayo, etc), and clean up ALL BY HERSELF. We had 73 people yesterday - most of them wanted food!!! On top of it she had started work at 8am that day and was run down and not feeling good. So after I fixed the room I went to help her out. She didn't know how to use the popcorn machine so I told her no popcorn tonight. She said can we do that? I said yes, we can do whatever we want. We have no time to make popcorn and salads tonight and that's that. We're the kitchen managers, we make the rules. People start trickling in about an hour before bingo starts to eat and get their favorite table spots. So I loaded the drink coolers with ice, set out more mustard, ketchup packets, napkins, plastic cutlery and started taking food orders and getting drinks and such while she cooked and assembled the meals. I couldn't help her all night though because our bingo caller didn't come in and my partner had to fill in for him which meant I was needed as a floor worker to check winning bingos, pay out money and keep track of sales. So I was able to help her during the first rush but she got slammed around 6:30. I got about 3 minutes to wolf down my dinner in between checking bingos. The bingo caller came in the last hour before we were done so I went back into the kitchen to help her clean up, count the register money and put away stuff. I was appalled that they expected her to do an impossible task all by herself. No way can you prep and serve food and take orders and touch dirty money and stay sanitary at the same time!!! I was complaining and I got my partner all wound up so he's going to send a stern email out today about that.

Needless to say we all came home exhausted. I slept like a log last night except for the thunder occasionally waking me...

Morning all. Longest week ever. TGIF!

Annie – I hope you enjoy your day off and the concert tonight!! == I’m glad you had a good birthday and didn’t let sad memories intrude. == How fun that you met up with an old classmate. I need to pull out my old school pics sometime before my reunion in September.

Happy – I’m glad you’re saying no to more requests for help, but you sure still seem busy as ever! == The newspaper article will be a great opportunity to draw members to the new TOPS group. How did it go yesterday?

Ceejay – Good you don’t miss anything about work – means you’ve jumped right into your new life and have more than enough to keep you busy! == Did your sister get a new laptop yet? She’s gonna be busy playing catchup once she does.

Hellos to the rest of you! Hope you have/are having a great weekend.
==
I realized I still had my group fitness passport with a number of classes left on it. I phoned yesterday and learned I still had 8 classes to use and it expires July 11th. Yikes, that’s not much time!

So yesterday I decided to do a circuit class at the recplex fc instead of rowing. I was the only one who showed up for class! I thought there was a minimum number of students required or the class could be cancelled, but it must be at the instructor’s discretion… Anyway, there was a substitute for the usual instructor. I’m thinking maybe the usual instructor had given the students a heads-up of her upcoming vacation and that’s why no one else showed.

Anyway, I took a class of the sub’s once several years ago– it was an interval class I think? Anyway, she’s also a personal trainer. This woman is admittedly a chatty spastic type who just didn’t stop talking, but there was entertainment value there I guess. So we did the circuit class, but it was like a one-on-one training session. She pushed me much harder than I would have pushed myself, so it was a really good workout. The idea of doing that once or twice weekly though…not so sure about that. I suppose you might get used to paying someone to kick your butt… after a while. It’s just been a while since I did any really strenuous classes or exercise, so I’m not accustomed to that anymore.

So now I have 7 more classes left on the passport. I guess I’ll do that class again next Thursday with my fingers crossed that the regular instructor is back from vacay.

No plans for the weekend so far. If I want to do any yard work, I better get it done early in the morning because it’s going to be a really hot steamy weekend around here. Good weekend to spend in the AC, so maybe I should just bite the bullet and do some clothes shopping. I pretty much need everything from athletic socks to work clothes to workout clothes.

Okay, time to get this posted before I get interrupted again.

Hi Happy, typing above my head, LOL.

What a shame about the pool situation. I don’t like to drive very far to go somewhere to exercise…but I guess when you’re in a rural area, you get accustomed to it?? == I’m glad the TOPS meeting went well. I do agree about the weigh-ins, especially if it’s kept private. People know by one’s appearance and presence that you have weight to lose - why does it matter if one other person actually knows the number? So is your leader someone who leads other TOPS groups in your general geographic area? == Wow, bingo was a real challenge last night - crazy how understaffed you were! I hope you made a lot of money for the senior center last night. AND I hope you don’t have to go through that again any time soon.

Default Hello

Went with sis last night to buy her computer. She had them to transfer the information to the new computer and download office on it. She can pick it up on Monday. She went to work early this Morning to work on charts.
I did make the decision to use the bank just down the road. I've changed the SS check to go to this bank which will start in August. Looked online to see if I could do that for my 401k, but will have to call them Monday. I'm ready to get myself completely relocated in Missouri. Will change my phone number too.
----------
HAPPY
You are still a busy person. Sounds like it was a hectic night at bingo. Bummer on the swimming situation. Honestly think I would do better if I did weigh in front of some one.

ANNIE
So glad you had a wonderful birthday. One of these days I'm going to conquer a low carb way of eating. It's not day by day it's a minute by minute time line for me.

LAURA,
That class sounded hard. I know I don't want a personal trainer.

Everyone else have a good weekend.

Hi girls
My iPad didn't arrive today so this is a quickie on my cell. Last weekend was the Best time this summer. Dh & our oldest g-son were in Dh's company fishing tournament, our g-son missed 3rd place $70 by his fish being 1/2" too short. Fried fish for supper then we saw Solo, the current Star Wars movie Saturday night held over 3 weeks; we missed the last 2 Star War movies. Woody Harrelson was really good in it, it was nice to learn how Han Solo got the Millennium Falcon & Chewbacca became pals. I was kayaking on the chain of lakes during the tournament staying out of the way & relaxing. Sunday I made yummy fish tacos & then our g-son went home.

Happy ~ Whenever I read about your days I'm in awe of your fierce energy. I was in TOPS in 2006 for 5 yrs & graduated a KOPS at SRD. Lots of happy memories during my TOPS years. It's wonderful that you have a new chapter because the chapter I joined had +30 ppl including wives & hubby's & was over 20 yrs old with mainly retirees that were set in their ways & with several clicks of ppl that enjoyed being bossy, a weekly battlefield of viewpoints. I joined to lose 15# of stress weight I accumulated during Dh's cancer & me eating at fast food drive-thru's. All the clicks wanted me, but I stayed independent with 4 other ppl in their 50's. TOPS is a Wonderful support group, I have a friend that remained with them. Funny thing is that after every meeting most chapters go celebrate by eating together, our group filled up a restaurant. I reached my goal in 3 months, sometimes only losing a pound a week. We had a weekly best loser, we celebrated every loss & encouraged everyone that gained or turtled with a gift. I did 6 jobs during my 5 yr that I never volunteered to do I was nominated & voted to; write & print-out our monthly newsletter, a quarterly member roster, assistant weight recorder, monthly charms/awards & KOPS ceremony coordinator, fund raiser coordinator & treasurer. Because I wasn't in a click I wasn't ever criticized, so we aLL got along during my offices, it was enjoyable. The only funny thing was most of the members felt they were entitled to a 50% discount from my Home Design business & my Fashion seamstress business Sorry, no. My business paid our bills during Dh's cancer treatments. Sorry if you got bored about my TOPS memories. If you need ideas their website is a wonderful resource.

Annie ~ I Envy the Awesomely * Amazing concert your family went to together... Memories to keep forever Congrats on Sis & you & your anniversary together. I'd trade 1 of my 2 sons for a wonderful daughter like yours. My oldest is 40, 6' blonde, blue eyes, handsome, never been married except to his career & earns 6 figures He almost killed me for setting him up on a date, blind-siding him at my home. He wants a wife & family but isn't a bar person so he's like us & enjoys his home, 10 acre woods & fishes etc. He says that all the girls that aren't weird with piercings & tattoos are already married. So I might not get any g-babes from him to spoil & Luv. or a somewhat normal daughter-inlaw to enjoy doing stuff with.

Gotta stop & finish personals tomorrow, my cell battery is blinking.

Laura, Ceej, Shad, Susie & Genny Luv & Hugs for a wonderful weekend my sisters Genny is a Chicklet too

Default hi

Not enough time at home this week. There is a birthday party for my nephews son that starts at 3. Really cuts into my day but I shouldn't complain.
Wish I could wait until Thursday to mow the lawn but next weekend is when we go to my reunion. May tell sis that I'm taking off Thursday afternoon and come back Friday morning in time to leave.
I figured out how to change my banks information on my 401k, so those are the two main things to take care of. Its finally time to change my phone number too. but may wait till August to do that. I'm getting home internet in July so I can use that number and keep my cell number private.
this is about it for me.

--------
Dee
Good to see you posting again. I'm in the mood to go fishing. My niece talked about it last week.
I'm wrong on the dates for my reunion. It's in 2 weeks.

Hello Everyone. Genny got to come home from rehab on Tuesday and she was so happy. She had a consultation with her chemo doctors and she will have chemo this coming Thursday. They are going to give her half of the dose instead of the full does until she is finished, she has 3 more to do.

They said that even if she is getting only half she will still get the benefit of it.

Thank you all for your prayers and please keep her in your prayers.

I will be back to post more later. I am posting from my phone and it needs charged.

Default hi

Happy Fathers day.

went to church this morning. James wasn't there so I was chosen to play piano. should have practiced more. had a feeling I'd be playing but that's okay. what was funny is that I thought that he said two verses when he started on the third verse I was dumfounded but picked up soon enough. I need to practice on that piano. the keyboard I have at home has a different feel to it.
I'm back in Branson. on the way back the traffic slowed way down to a crawl. There was a horrible wreck. there were 2 ambulances still on the scene but I met one coming towards me. not sure what happened.
sis is getting someone to mow the lawn during the heat. I'm extremely grateful.

Hello Everyone,
I feel asleep last night while the phone was charging and just made it back.
The weekend in Ohio has been dreadful! Temps in the high 90’s and a lot of humidity. I know it gets this hot in Ohio, why do I complain about it every year?

It was absolutely beautiful last Thursday and Friday. DH came home from work on Friday evening and mowed the lawn; he said he had to do it before it got hot. We don’t have a big lawn but it does take him about 1.5 hrs to mow (he uses the push mower, we don’t have a riding mower, and weed eat and blow all the grass of the sidewalks and the drive.

We had a family reunion in Columbus yesterday. It was good to see my cousins and my brother and partner were there with my nephews—I am always happy when I see my nephews.

Did I tell you all that we are going to VA beach in July? I’m so excited! Of course I want to lose this 10 pounds that I keep losing and gaining before I go.

Ceejay: I’m sure every enjoyed your piano playing at church; I do understand how nerve wracking it can be to fill in when you feel like you haven’t practiced enough and the instrument feels different to you than what you are used to.

I’m glad someone is else is going to mow the grass so you don’t have to do it in the heat.

Happy: I’m so excited that you will have a TOPS group! If I can assist you and your chapter with anything, please let me know
.
Annie: I hope you had a wonderful birthday. Sorry I didn’t get her to wish you a happy one….thank goodness for Facebook so I could get it posted somewhere!

How was the concert? I think it would have been awesome!!

Laura: I think I read that you were thinking about doing some online shopping---did you? I did some last week as JC Penny was having a good sale and I need new swim suits as my old ones are 3 sizes to big, so I bought 2 new ones and cover up. All for under $75 once I used my coupons with their sale.

Dee: It’s nice to see you posting….we miss you when you aren’t here. It sounds like the finish tournament was a lot of fun for you and your family. I’m so glad you all had a great time!

I’ll tell Genny you made her an honorary chicklet…she will love it!

Shad: How is your weather? Is it sweater weather yet? I am getting forgetful…are you on a trip…it seems that someone was going somewhere.

Good morning ladies,

This is going to be a long and tough week. I am filling in at the senior center 3 days this week - today, Thursday and Friday. Much more than I want to but there is a crisis so I am being a good guy. But then next week is my own, I have no commitments other than myself and I will refuse all other things. I think there is going to be a showdown amongst some of the personalities there - might have more free time than even I anticipated!

Weekend flew by. We are having horrible torrential rain storms. One town north of us got over 15 inches of rain over a 2 day period. Roads are washing out and rivers are flooding. Scary business. We went to the Italian restaurant Friday night because they had my favorite - eggplant Parmesan. Driving there it was raining so hard we could not see out the windshield. My heart was in my throat. DH let me out of the car 4 feet from the steps to get into the restaurant. I told him to take the umbrella since he had a walk from the parking lot. Even that short distance I got soaked - they have a metal roof on the place and it was raining so hard the gutter was overflowing and it was like a hose pouring down off the roof. A fire hose. No way to avoid getting wet - even if I had walked with DH from the car I would have been just as wet under the umbrella. As we walked in one of the waitresses was smart enough to turn off the air conditioning as we were all walking in like wet rats. Dinner was good though and it poured again as we were heading home. Thunderstorms all night. Saturday wasn't bad - we went to the Farmers Market - in another town. I got some fresh strawberries, some rhubarb and there was a pickle stand. DH sampled some items and got himself a jar of hot (spicy) pickles. I tried the pickled beets - I am still on a mission to find a beet I like because even the pickled ones are good for you. And viola! hers were good!!! So I bought a jar of those too. It started to rain again as we were there - windy too so we were glad to head back home. Took a nap and then DH went outside to work in the garage and I worked inside the house. Yesterday we went to the casino for breakfast although they had a Father's Day special at the buffet and it was too crowded so we just ate at the restaurant which was ok - plenty enough food. DH did well on blackjack, I had a good time myself. Our friend was there sitting at a machine - he had just won about $5300. A few months earlier he won over $4,000 on the same machine when we were there. This time he called his wife to come over - I told her to get half before he tossed it all back in the casino. He goes there every day and spends probably most of his pension there. We got home, DH cooked up a frozen lasagna because I had not taken anything out for dinner. It was not that great and gave me heartburn afterwards. Some tomato sauces will do that. I didn't have a horrible eating weekend but did not eat the best of foods although I was mindful of every forkful I put into my mouth. I need to find time to get to the grocery store - wanted to stop at the one across from the Farmers Market but DH was in a rush to get home. The evening was taken up with phone calls - I called Mom, got interrupted as my bingo partner was having email wars over what went on at the center on Thursday and he kept calling me. I was going to go into the hot tub on Saturday and yesterday but bad lightening kept me from going in. And now it's Monday all over again...

Susie - how nice that you have a vacation planned to enjoy and look forward to! It's almost July so you won't have to wait too long. Can't believe June is almost over!!!! Glad you had a nice weekend with fun and family. Wow - good thing you got some new swimsuits - 3 sizes too big could lead to an embarrassing incident with "things popping out" Yes, I am going to enjoy TOPS I think - I have always heard good things about it. Good to hear that Genny is doing very well in her treatment and recovery. Continued prayers for her health...

Ceejay - yikes on the stand in piano playing! I guess it would be good to practice on the instrument you will be playing even though you know the keyboard. Glad you made the decision to use the more convenient bank - it won't take long to make the change over.

Dee - all that you said about TOPS is the reason I was eager to get a group going here. It does seem like wonderful camaraderie and support. As for your son I joking told DH I was going to post a "Happy Fathers Day to all the guys who simply wanted a girlfriend and found out that the dating pool comes with ready made families". Things are very different now a days when it comes to relationships and families and all that. Lots of players in the picture. Difficult too to have a relationship if your job/career is demanding and takes a lot of your time.

Laura - I hope this week is not as long and dragged out as last week. I hear it's pretty hot and miserable down your way which doesn't help things. Did you hide out this weekend or go and face the heat full on outside? Good for you for sweating it out with the personal trainer in your unplanned one on one session!! I know you like to push yourself.

Shad - it's warming up here and is funny to hear you talk about being cold on your side of town. Ok, I got it - will prepare for a May visit. Still might be cool but it's a better bet than October, especially if it's towards the end of the month.

Annie - how was the concert? Thank you for the offer of making up flyers for us. We are at an awkward stage right now - we don't quite have enough people to form a formal chapter so we can't call ourselves TOPS yet but we are hoping to get enough people to join us so we can be official. So until then we are just a group of supportive ladies. I hope your week goes well at work too - less hassle, more just gettin' things done.

And with that I need to get dressed and out the door. Happy Monday - let's have a good week for all...
