Afternoon
I just heard thunder so maybe we will have more rain.
The cat is getting used to her new environment. She is still skittish. She is so quiet I forget she is around LADIES I need to join you on the diet and water wagon. I'm know that my drinking cokes instead of water is very bad for me. BIL came today and cut the bushes on the side of the house. They were over grown. The house got hot late yesterday afternoon so I checked the inside a.c. unit and it was frozen up. Turned it off for a couple of hours with only the fan running and turned it back on. I'm sure it needs a good cleaning and more freon. -------- Laura The niece and her bf are still going strong. Her mom is hoping that she will meet some one local but I really don't think that will happen. And yes it is good to have more relatives around. Happy Good for you in going to water aerobics. I'm completely out of sync with myself. But will try starting tomorrow to get back into a routine. Annie I understand about the little boys and their games. Great deal on the time share. Hellos to the rest |
Hi Ladies. Posting from the recumbent bike so please overlook any typos.
Happy: Look at you doing that water walking! That workout is going to be great for you. Lowimpact but very good for the heart rate and toning the body all over. Good for you for getting back to logging the food. Here is a tip, dont try to be perfect, just put it in. Doing it everyday and seeing it, helps to get where you want to eat better. Annie, whoo hoo! A beach vacation!! Get back on your Keto wagon....you have a beach to hang out on!. Laura: I have been seeing you logged in daily to MFP. Keep going. It sounds like the rowing is working for you too. Sorry to hear the foot still isnt healed. I remember when I had trouble with mine,.it was so aggravating. I know that waering my boot around the house and getting off it that way sure helped...if you have one you might try it. I have used mine like that off and on when my foot brothers me. Ceejay: how nice you now know how to get that riding mower going. It is starting to get hot and sometimes it is to hot to push mow. Hi to Shad and Dee. Please keep my friend Genny in your prayers. She started feeling neuropathy in her feet on Sunday night and really achy all over. They told her to do 800 mg Aleve for the aches and if it doesn't get better they will give her something stronger. As for the neuropathy they will try Elavil. |
Good Morning/Evening All....
Well, my little guy goes to school as a kindergartener and comes home a 1st grader. Where has time gone. Royce will be a pre-K-er. Holy smokes. June marks the two year spot for Sis and boys living with us. It is not getting any easier and not any harder, just is. :) Times are especially tough when it is the week before shark week. She is on a 21 day cycle so there you go, it happens more than not. Yikes. Last night was turkey manhattens and greenbeans. I ate the turkey and greenbeans. I am still struggling with evenings and Keto. I failed miserably last night. Today is a new day and I WILL accomplish all that I need to! More water, walking and mindful eating. I can tell I am not in ketosis as my joints are extra achy. Even ones that did not prior hurt. Like my hips. Really? One more ouchy. Hey didn't make it to bathroom, have to go home and then work from home. Will try to get back in here. Hugs |
Good morning chickie friends,
Yesterday I went to the senior center for a while. Helped out putting materials together for the Farmers Market Promotions they have upcoming. When I was leaving they asked "are you coming in tomorrow????????????" Well I wasn't planning on it but I was asked to type up some stuff so ok, just for a little while. It's more a camaraderie thing at this point. We are joking we are going to put up an outdoor margarita bar to improve work relations and just enjoy our short summer :beach: I really don't want to but afterwards I will stop at the grocery store and pick up some fresh foods to make. I hate grocery shopping lately. Annie - when you fell off the wagon yesterday I took a dive myself to keep the load balanced. Got home too late to cook, DH and I were both tired so we took a nap and then we went to McDonalds for dinner. I only eat there once a year. This is what I know of McD's. When I finish eating I have a strange feeling like I just filled my tummy with styrofoam. I never feel like I actually ate food. And I feel guilty all evening for eating it. Especially when I plugged it into MFP (thanks for the tip Susie). This morning I woke with everything in my body hurting and aching. It was either that un-food or the fact that I slept in the recliner and turned the overhead ceiling fan on low because it was stuffy in here. I can't sleep with a fan blowing on me any more. Either case, I am resolved to not put stuff like that in me any more. I am really noticing how the bad stuff affects me. On the good front it reaffirms my resolve. And I will get groceries so I don't have to resort to this anymore. I haven't grocery shopped in over 3 weeks so the fridge is sort of empty. Annie - I hear you on the kids growing up. The sun of one of my coworkers just graduated high school. I remember him as a 5 year old when we were working together. Time does really fly by. I think we notice it with kids more than adults. Is Sis making any noises about maybe moving out once the kids are both in school or are you resolved to be a multi family household? I know a big thing is the lack of affordable housing - and jobs that pay a living wage. Back to the eating - why are you struggling in the evenings? Wanting snacks or just too tired when you get home to be menu planning? Maybe S should make the family dinner and you can stick to your eating plan. Sounds like you need a vacation sister or a temporary break from life's annoyances  Susie - yay for you for getting on your bike and getting back to your routine!!! Will keep on the good thoughts rolling for Genny. Didn't Shad have neuropathy as a side effect of chemo also? If so I hope it's temporary. Ceejay - come on up on the diet wagon with us. We'll save you a seat. Want one under the canopy or out in the open sun? Did you bring the kitten home with you? I'm sure she will be exploring all the new things to see in your house. Just keep an eye on her not to bolt out the door until she gets used to the new house. I'm hoping we get some of your thunder the next day or two - we are desperately in need of rain. Didn't you have an exercise place near to you? Maybe you like me need to get back to a personal routine at home instead of being away too much. Laura - the rower sounds like a really good workout. I hope they can figure out something with your foot. What would be the alternative? I hope you can enjoy a quiet day at the office today and get something accomplished. Hellos to Dee and Shad. It's supposed to warm up substantially here. 80's reaching to 90 even. There is a chance for some much needed rain the next 3 days. But this is too hot of weather for me thank you. Will have to plan light eating menus. Grilled protein, fruit, vegs stuff. DH said if it's going to be that hot outside, he will go back in the basement and work on laying the new floor. I told him to be careful - his chest was hurting although I'm thinking he was moving some very large paving stones in the yard the last couple of days and I think he might have strained himself, despite that he thinks not. Time for me to get dressed and out of here. Have a good hump day Chicks. |
Afternoon
Trying to decide what to do this afternoon. I want to go to the gym and need to go to the grocery store.
My nephew text me this morning stating that his son received two awards from the state this morning. He came in 5th place in math and art. Extremely proud of him. She's a.c. went out completely this week. I may have to go to Branson to wait on the repairman. Hopefully they will schedule on Friday so BIL can be there. ---------- Happy Yes,I have the cat at home with me. She is really no trouble, except when I hear her play around 5 a.m. She likes to push things off the coffee table. She jumped upon the bed this morning wanting to play with my arm but that soon stopped. She bites. She'been jumping up in my lap too, which I like. Yikes with it dipping down into the 40's at night. Annie It sounds like your little guys are the same age as my nephews little guys. I've been getting the munchies mid afternoon. |
Quick post before bed.
Genny found out that she also has a ear infection. Hopefully with antibiotics and taking off work tomorrow to stay home and sleep she will start to feel better. She's said she thinks having the infection made the chemo aches and neuropathy more pronounced. Thanks for your continued prayers. I did a 10 mile ride tonight on the recumbent bike. I did it in 53 minutes. It felt good. Still need to work on my food some. |
Sorry, MIA again and I thought I was doing so well. I've been busy in the garden. It has had a dose of water saver, plant food, fertiliser and a bit of a prune. Should look good in a couple of weeks. I've also been looking for tree people to trim my big trees and check the health of a couple of them. I'm too old to get up the ladder now. Well maybe not too old but don't have enough muscle tone left to start climbing trees.
I've also been out in the vege garden. The lettuces are about done, so is the corn. Tomatoes are going mad and I'm getting a dozen or so per day. They taste great too. Back later. Someone at the door. |
Hello Everyone!
I am on a continuing education webinar today from 9-3:00pm. Bah. Last class for my insurance renewal that is due in June. Then I can start all over again. How much fun is that? So I ended up going home yesterday at 8:30 am due to bathroom issues. Worked from home the rest of the day. It was the last day of school for Jacob. Royce was glad cause now "Jacob, you can spend the day with me and mommy". How cute and sweet is that. For a minute until they get to feuding and fighting. We ordered pizza for dinner last night. Bacon, ham and pineapple. I picked the pineapple off cause it does not go on pizza plus it is not Keto. Very good pizza, got it from Hungry Howies. Got stuffed crust so I picked the cheese out of the crust. That was my evening. I did get a load of laundry done. SHADDIE...glad you came up for air. MMmmm love me some fresh tomatos. CEEG...how do you like kitty being home with you? I think maybe you are getting attached to it. :) SUSIE...more prayers for Genny and a quit recovery from the ear infection. Poor thing. Chemo doesn't help either with feeling good. Bless her heart. You are such a kind sweet friend. LAURA...YEAH for the bosses being out of the office, there is that in-house vacation going on! How are you liking the rowing machine? HAPPY...STOP volunteering. Giving up one for the other is NOT taking time off. Rolling pin to you sister. Not sure on Sam's plans once the kids are all in school. I am sure she will get a job but don't know her living arrangements down the road. I just know we need a bigger place. Don't know why I am struggling with evening eating, my guess is boredom and routine nights lead to "Oh lets go eat something". My mind needs to be off of food and onto something else. How are the kitties getting along? DEE...hope all is well with you. Hi to all, gotta get ready for my webinar. TODAY IS MY FRIDAY!! YEAH...have a wonderful memorial weekend. Race weekend here. I am keeping the boys while sis goes to the track on Saturday. Love and hugs |
Good rainy :rain: morning chicks. Let a smile be your umbrella and you will go about the day all raggetty looking and wet ;)
Woke up to thunderstorms this morning. Much needed rain. Except it's pouring like a firehouse and running off the hard, dry ground instead of the soaking rain we really need. At least it will wet these tinder dry tree tops. I live in a pine and birch forest. Think about Christmas trees at the end of the holiday season - how stiff and dry they are. And I live in the middle of that where any random spark - careless toss of a cig, hot engine on an ATV or lawnmower, some ignoramous burning trash when they should know better - can set the state ablaze. :flame::flame::flame: So I am grateful for "Nature's Hosedown". Started the day first thing getting blindsided by an email from someone trying to do a good thing without all the details in place and it affected the thrift shop. I knew my partner had no idea what was going on as he is good about running things past me as we support each other in a first line of defense. I was about to head out to the Senior Center so instead I responded back with a list of questions. The person instigating this then called my house and left a snippy voice message which I did not appreciate at all. It did however support and confirm my decision to cut back my involvement for a while. I then stopped at the thrift shop and talked to my partner who was also blindsided. I said I'd had enough - he said he did too so I said perhaps we should both just let the nutters have the place to themselves for a while. I then went to the Senior Center where we had a productive afternoon. I am down 6 pounds for the week so far. I think moving around helps alot and I guess I have to admit that sucking on all those throat lozenges (and the sugar) when I was coughing my head off last week did not help. I am trying to eat cleaner and closer to keto. Still have a long way to go. Annie - enjoy your ThursFriday - even if you have to suffer through a training session to get there. Does Sam involve the kids in summer activities to burn some energy off? Oh the glorious feeling of school done, summer fun ahead! My kitties are getting along fine. They wrestle and play alot. Bimmy dug the mesh shower puff scrubber out of my gym bag and was carrying it around the house in her mouth. I hid it so she pulled my swimsuit out and dragged that into the next room. I just received some new shoes from New Balance - tried them on quickly and she went into the box, grabbed the piece they stuff in the toes and sat and ripped that all over the living room. EVERYthing is a toy. Hope you can avoid the crowds and noise for the races and enjoy your weekend with the kids. Shad - I am glad that you are letting someone else trim the trees. Comes a time when things are better outsourced. As the seasons turn, is it time to plant cooler weather vegs? I can't wait till it's safe to plant tomatoes here. Enjoy some for us. Susie - it just has to be a major frustration for those going through chemo of all the adjustments and changes to the body. Continued thoughts and prayers for Genny and good going on continuing your exercise! Ceejay - did you get to the gym after all? Hope it's not a costly repair to the air conditioning. I told DH we should have ours checked too as it's going to be beastly hot for us the next few days. Mostly we don't need it. I'm glad you got the kitty companion. Hello to Laura and Dee. I need to squeeze into my swimsuit and head out to the pool. For once I don't mind if I get wet on the way in with the rain. Have a great day. |
Hello
A quick post as I need to finish getting ready to head to Branson. Will probably spend the night
Talked to my sis in Atlanta. She had cataract surgery this week. She's doing well. I did make it to the gym yesterday for 20 minutes on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the recumbent bike. Only got in 16 oz of water but that's better than none. Starting to work on that. More later. |
Ceejay - every day doing something in the right direction is a good day I say. I got in an hour's worth of water walking today. They were pumping ice cold water into the pool so after an hour even with moving briskly I had gotten chilled and had to get out. Bummer that the sauna was not working either - I was hoping to dry my suit a bit and just toss my clothes over it and drive home. Which I did anyway since it was raining hard when I left and no one was staying dry in that weather.

Afternoon all. Been very distracted at work by a new payables system that went live this week. And that's with only three invoices we needed to pay!:(
Ceejay – I somehow missed that you now have that kitty at your place. Sounds like kitty behavior – hope you’re enjoying having her around. I take it she’s going back and forth with you between your place and the condo? == Congrats to your nephew on the awards! == Good job on the workout. Re the water – I can get 4-6 cups in easily. Eight cups/64 oz. is definitely more effort. Susie – Yeh, progress not perfection is the saying I’ve heard, applies to weight loss/fitness as a whole. == Yeh the rowing is working for me. There’s some twinges of discomfort where the bad foot is strapped onto the rower. I don’t know if that’s an issue with healing. The doctor didn’t express concern about that. == I hope Genny feels better after those antibiotics start working. Sending some healing vibes. == Good job on the exercise! Are you still doing training for a 5k? Annie – Happy Friday to you! Enjoy your long weekend. Awww, those boys are growing AND two years they’ve been living with you and C. – where did the time go??!! == Wait, a 21 day cycle – that’s way more than 12 times a year. Yikes for sure! == Easing the joint pain - what a motivation to stay on track with Keto. (On top of that upcoming beach trip!!!) == Ugh, that’s a long time for a webinar. How many hours of CE do you need per year? === I LOVE  pizza with pineapple and Canadian bacon, or even just with pineapple by itself. Sounds like a lot of work picking that pizza apart – but the positive is that it slows you down and then you realize you’ve had enough. == I generally like the rowing machine. One good thing is that no one else seems to use it, at least when I’m there, LOL. Listening to podcasts works, but I might try some music sometime. I need some rowing music. Happy – Well, at least it seems you like the senior center work more than the thrift shop…until you don’t. ;) Gosh, excellent reason to avoid the McD’s food. I eat it way more than I should (1-2x/month), and really don’t want to know the dirty details about their ingredients. The only positive is I generally skip the fries, not much of a fan. == The alternative or next step with the foot is surgery, and the doc said it doesn’t always solve the issue. I can tell he’s not keen on it. Not sure why he seems to be a proponent of living with this…except that he’s not. I am. I thought the plates and screws are done to hold it together…but that’s just until the bone heals and then the hardware is removed. Which I vaguely recall is how it went with Annie’s ankle. – Good weight loss – wow! Good job with the water walking. I empathize with how the cold water makes it harder. I would get cramps from it until I was fully warmed up when I was taking those aqua fitness classes last year. == Glad the kitties are getting along now. Cats and boxes, made for each other. Shad – You've been really busy with the garden. Is doggy helping out? :D I’m glad you’re not taking chances with the ladder. == I’m jealous of you with those tomatoes – any time we get tomatoes in our food they’re the worst - unripe, tastelss. I’d give anything for a good homegrown tomato right about now. Guess that means I better get busy with the veg garden this weekend, regardless of how the shoveling isn’t good for the bad food. Hi Dee! Don't be a stranger! == Nothing much to report. Bf has had my bike inoperable for a while now because he wanted to fix the rear brake, so no cycling to the train station, or to the fitness center. :( I’m being a nag, so maybe it’ll finally get done this weekend. It better be. I did the rower on Tuesday. Also some abs afterwards. I’m going again tonight. Tomorrow the office closes early. Hope it’s earlier than the official 3 pm time. :crossed: |
Hello
A quick post from me. It is late. I will do some research on the Keto diet.
Happy, congratulations on 6 pounds lost. I do agree that movement helped me lose 10 pounds. need to get moving again before it comes back. I dont blame you for holding off in going to the thrift shop. you sound happy volunteering at the senior crntizen's place. think I stay there. I'll be back tomorrow for more personals. |
Hey everyone. Hope you all are having (or had) a nice weekend.
Yesterday I took mom grocery shopping in the morning. Met my friend for lunch at 1. We decided to eat inside. But there were several tables of large parties and it was really noisy. Since we were still waiting for a server,we decided to ask for a table outside instead. We sat in the shade and had a nice lunch and catchup. Bf and I went to a birthday party in the late afternoon. It was hot, but our hosts had fans on the deck and we kept cool and (mostly) avoided bug bites. It was a late night, but a nice evening. This morning I went to the fitness center and did the rower for 30 minutes & then some ab work. Right now I'm just slothing out on the sofa. It's gonna be another hot day today (I swear it feels like August out there). Nothing planned for outside today. It's only 12:30 and 92 degrees already and there's an air quality alert to boot. Yup, I'll stay inside and chill out...until I go stir crazy, lol. Been feeling guilty about not doing something about my crap wardrobe, so I might do some online shopping. I have a jc Penney gift card to use and I hear they aren't doing so well i want to make sure i use it. Ok, gonna get this posted. TTFN. |
It's late
Went to church this morning and came back home. BIL,who is the pastor there, filled me in on what happened this weekend and as I assumed WW3 broke out between my niece and sister. Glad I was not there. It comes to find out that a controlled substance was found in her room. I'm really sad. Sis is on vacation this week and they were going to Moss Mt in Arkansas to P Allen Smith's farm. She's had a stressful week too, with the a.c. going out, but it was fixed. Then the dryer blew a breaker but that was figured out without a service call. Not sure why there was water in the floor by the inside a.c.unit and hot water heater but she said that it had been fixed. The new refrigerator is supposed to be delivered on Tuesday. The one she has is on its last go.
I mowed the front yard yesterday with the push mower and started the back with the rider. Got one row around the yard and the sky broke loose. What a down poor! Finished the back yard this afternoon and as Laura said it was hot. Came inside sat down in my recliner and went to sleep. Heard the cat playing as I was walking up. Finally got my home office cleaned and organized, and cleaned out the pantry. |
