Hi ladies,
Minus 17 this morning. Brrrrrrrrr. Everything is crackling including the static electricity in the house from the dry air. I got up from the chair to reset the thermometer for the fireplace and the bolt / shock I got almost sent me across the room.
I have enjoyed my week home. My new calendar arrived the other day and I have already filled it in with stuff. Back to being on the run again. So it was nice while it lasted.
Everyone and his brother is jumping on the meal subscription bandwagon - there must be at least 6 different plans out there. One of them is an email based plan where they send you recipes and you shop for the groceries and prepare the meals. Of course this is really cheap compared to getting food but they have about 8 different meal plans so if you are following gluten free or paleo or low carb or vegetarian it's nice that it segments all of those. However there are alot of accompaniments that DH will not eat so after checking out Sun Basket, Blue Apron, Something Chef (Robert Irvine's one whose name I can never remember) - I think the Hello Fresh works best for us. I did change the plan after next week to go from 4 meals to 3 a week only because I am iffy on some of the extra meals. You can switch your preferences as long as you do it in enough time for the packing and delivery window.
We are going out to an early dinner with a friend tomorrow night - not sure if we will stop at the casino afterwards. They are making big renovations and changing the name of the place and doing so this weekend. We have several tickets for the nightly drawing and at 11:30 they will draw a cash prize of $2018. We'll see how it goes. Going to be darn frigid out there but where we are going is only about 5 miles both to dinner and the casino so we won't be far out at all. At least I don't have to worry about wearing slinky cocktail dresses and strappy high heels in 20 below weather - I can go in warm sweaters and fluffy boots!
New Year's Day I need to put a meal and exercise plan together for getting serious about making myself healthier this year. Other than that nothing special going on.
Happy birthday to DH Susie - a new year's eve baby
Sounds like a fun evening planned with friends to celebrate. So are your friends staying to midnight or will they leave after cake and coffee? I am amazed if you can kick them out right after 12 and be in bed by 1
I hope you like the Hello Fresh box - can certainly make it easier for meal prep in your busy life. I saw a post on Facebook outside of Cincinnati where a farm is accepting fresh Christmas trees - they feed them to their goats! I thought that was a clever way to recycle.
Haha on the office parties. I remember one in particular when I was in my 20's and working for the financial exchange where drinking was legendary. We were in the banquet hall of a famous downtown hotel and all I seem to remember is me being rather tipsy in the middle of a large crowd of people all around me. They would not tell me why everyone was around me other than 1) I didn't embarrass myself and 2) I was HIGHLY entertaining. To this day I don't know what I was saying but that was the last time I got so blitzed at a party.
I think it might happen to all of us once when we are young and foolish and youth is the time to be young and foolish.
Now I can only handle about 2 drinks - mostly I am allergic to mold and the sulfites in liquor so my nose gets very stuffed which I don't like. And I am wonky enough with my ankles and knees - don't need the imbalance of drunkeness too.
Hope you are feeling better Annie. Whatever strain of germs is going around, it's a nasty one. People are getting really sick up this way all of a sudden and I saw on the news that there is a flu outbreak in at least 8 states so far. Get some rest and enjoy the next few days off.
Ceejay - this site is wonky at times. I almost have to jump through hoops to post. A lot has to do with it timing out the sign on before I get done typing and then it gets confused taking you back to the proper place when you sign back in again.
Shad - glad to hear you had a good trip with family and friends. Hope you are back home warm and safe and sound again. Let us know how the new year looks from your end of town.
Laura - I hope your asthma is easing up as it's still pretty cold down by you. I hear you got some snow also. Just stay home and relax!
And with that I am going to post this and get off the chair and get a few things done.
Happy New Year to you all - another great year together. Let's hope 2018 is happy, healthy and great for all of us.
I will probably set up a new thread in the next day or two. Stay tuned.
