Good morning, ladies! It will be in the 70s today with sunshine...waiting to see if Matthew comes here as wind and rain or a hurricane later in the week.
I'm better than I was but still coughing some. Yesterday I had sew day with Glory and Norah and that was fun. I need to go to the grocery store after the Y before it gets crazy with people stocking up for the hurricane. Donna, I'm glad you had a good time. When I had my foot surgery the doc told me to wrap it in Press "N Seal. That worked great. I had to pay full price for the eye drops. I was on 3 before the surgery and it cost me $625. Fortunately they lasted for after surgery, too. Your afghan will be lovely. Jean, I'm forever getting catalogs from places I never heard of. Into the recycling bin they go! Hopefully we won't need to turn the furnace on for another month. I've had the AC off since the middle of September and it's nice to have lower bills. Have a wonderful day. |
Good Morning! The weather is "iffy" with the sunshine on and off all morning, and wind of course. We were supposed to get rain during the night but now later this afternoon. I've been waiting all morning for the furnace guys to show up -- no show and no phone call. How rude imo!!! Ian has a game later today so will head that direction if it is still on schedule. The tv weatherman said it was raining up there right now.
Susan, at first I thought you were referring to Matthew as a person rather than the hurricane. The cough that hangs on is so annoying, but glad you are feeling better. The grocery stores get crazy here too, when a snow storm is in the forecast. You'd think people were never going to eat again. My furnace has been coming on in the early mornings for a couple weeks now. I hate it when the house feels clammy cold, the sunshine makes such a difference. Bob will be home for lunch soon. He went to the office this morning assuming it would be raining and they couldn't farm. Leftover chicken is on tap for today! Hope you enjoy a terrific Tuesday! |
Good morning girls! It is already warming up this morning. We drop into the low 70's at night but have been hitting at or near 90 during the daytime. Weather doesn't seem to be cooling off here yet and the trees aren't turning at all. We didn't really see any fall foliage when we went to Cincinnati.
Count on our dumb post office. I put a hold on our mail 5 days early and of course they delivered so had to call supervisor and strongly tell her and then they were supposed to deliver everything yesterday and nothing. So, I called this morning and it took her 10 minutes and two tries to find it. They wonder why people hate the usps so much. Susan: Hope the hurricane residue misses you, but sure looks like you're going to get some heavy rain from it for sure. Hope your cough gets better soon. They had me use otc drops but this week before is prescription. Jack says it looks ceamy not clear. I just want to get it done so I can see better. Jean: Hope they can get your furnace up and going quickly for you. Sounds like you are getting fall temps now. Everyone have a great Wednesday. |
Good Morning! It's a chilly 52 degrees and very windy this morning. Leaves are beginning to fall from the neighbors' trees. The furnace guys are here banging, drilling, and making lots of noise off and on again today. Yesterday both cats hid on kitchen chairs under the table. I'm sure Sonny was a wreck by evening, but they both were ready to head to the basement for treats and bed. I need to run a couple errands and hate to go out in the wind. :brr: Ian's Tuesday game got postponed until today because of lightning, but just got a text that the other team canceled for today. Even though the sun is shining, the wind is cold. Rain is predicted again for this afternoon. One farmer tried to combine corn in standing water and got stuck in the mud. Dumb! None of his farmer friends want to chance pulling him out and get stuck too.
"Gma," I ordered some slacks on 9/29, and yesterday I sent an email to customer service asking where they were having received nothing other than they had received my order. They left MA on 10/3, went to IL, KS, MO, and supposedly are now in Iowa; delivery on 10/8! Somewhere along the line FedEx dumped them on the USPS. Makes one wonder how anything gets delivered to the right address let alone delivered period. I hope you get your mail! :crossed: My tablespoon of prescription allergy eye drops was $90 with my insurance and over $300 without. Drug companies have a racket going for sure. I'm hoping the furnace project will be done soon, or at least today. I let laundry pile up and want to get at least part of it done today. Hope you enjoy a terrific Thursday! |
Good chilly morning. It is in the 60's here this morning but again going to be in the 90's today. We will get about a 20 degree cool down over the next couple days, more than likely from the hurricane weather though we won't get any rain. Our 2 week forecast calls for no rain and temps in the 80's for the most part. This is the warmest Oct I can remember since we lived here.
First play off game for the Cubs tonight. Sure hope they can go all the way this year. Jack is going to get his haircut this morning then we are going to get the car washed and go to WM. We are leaving for Nashville in the morning. Sure is going to be a quick trip as we have to be home by Sunday evening as my surgery is scheduled for 10:30 Monday morning. Jean: I take it you have no heat with them working on the furnace. You guys bundle up for sure. I am not sure I would miss not having Ian's game in those temps. They did deliver the mail. There was a notepad piece of paper on it saying to deliver on Wednesday, but at the bottom of the stack was my yellow card saying it was supposed to be delivered on Tuesday and then they delivered on Thursday! On top of that, it wouldn't have been delivered on Thursday if I hadn't called because it was shoved back in some corner somewhere. They are all dopes that work there. Most of the stuff I order comes UPS and though we usually get it later in the day, they rarely screw up. A lot of companies use a combo of UPS or FEDEX and the mail. It comes to your town by one of the two than is transferred to your local post office. That is not FEDEX's choice but the place you made the order. For FEDEX it is called smartpost. Well gals, I need to get the day started so we can get things done. Have a good one. |
Good Afternoon! It's a chilly, but sunny day in my neighborhood today. I ran some errands this morning and had lunch with a new group of ladies today. I wasn't going to join but Bob thought I should, so I did! :D We met in a church basement with the air conditioning still running. I about froze even though I was smart enough to wear a sweater. I drove home with my bu** warmer turned on and the heat cranked up. Now my new furnace is humming merrily along. I have a load of laundry that should be done and another one or two waiting.
"Gma," it was 35 degrees this morning when I came downstairs this morning. :brr: One of the ladies at lunch said they had 3 1/2" of rain this week. They live on a farm east of town while the tv weatherman said we had a little over 2". In comparing farmer notes, Bob said different parts of the county had different amounts varying as much as an inch. Crazy weather here too! It was cooling down the second day the guys were here working on the furnace. They turned it on and then checked different register temperatures with a computer. When they ran the air conditioner I thought I was going to have to get a blanket and wrap up. I was really glad to have the furnace running last night! I finally got my slacks from MA today! The package was clean (UPS stuff is filthy from gravel roads) and in my mailbox so the mailman delivered it. I just hope they fit. :crossed: Enjoy your visit with your sister and good luck on Monday! Hope you all enjoy the rest of a fantastic Friday, and have a nice weekend! |
Rain and wind in the forecast for today and tomorrow but I am so thankful that is all we are getting from Hurricane Matthew. Our temps are to be in the 60s for the next 4 days. Time to put a quilt on the bed!
Donna, I hope the weather isn't bad for you in Nashville. Good luck and prayers for your eye surgery Monday. You are going to be amazed! Jean, one of the things that my doc says is very important for seniors is socializing. You and I do plenty of that! I'm doing some deep cleaning in my bedroom and bath this weekend. I'm going to my friend's this afternoon. She's done something to her computer so I need to sort it out for her. Tomorrow Glory is having dinner for me for my birthday so that will be a pleasant way to spend the day. Have a wonderful day! |
Good Morning! The sun is shining, a breeze is blowing, and my furnace is humming along. I have sheets in the dryer and another load in the washer. I talked to my stepmom earlier and she seemed pretty perky compared to a few days ago. My stepbrother-in-law is having heart surgery on Friday so we need to go and visit her over the weekend while he is in the hospital. They are hoping he will come home on Monday. I play bells tomorrow and we are also greeters before the service.
Susan, I wondered what your weather was dong as a result of Matthew. I can't imagine what it must be like after watching the tv videos. So scary! Sometimes I think I am too social; I should pay more attention to cleaning chores around the house. It's nice of you to fix your friend's computer. I wish you lived close enough to fix my computer glitch. I want to get rid of having to put a password in all the time and resurrect my spreadsheet that I buggered up all by myself. The computer guy told me to google how to do it myself or he would have to charge me to do it. Grrrr! Bob went to the office this morning to take an online training in peace and quiet. They used to have review sessions and then take the test but not anymore. He should be home for lunch soon. Hope you enjoy a nice weekend! |
Just a quick one to wish Susan a happy birthday! We are in Nashville at the moment waiting for sister to arrive.

Good Afternoon! It's another nice, cool, and sunny fall day in my corner of the world. We left a little earlier for church this morning; bell ringers were supposed to be there and ready to practice by 7:30. There was a wedding yesterday so had to lug bell cases, music books, tables, table cloths, foam, books, etc. down from upstairs this morning. Bob went in with me because we were greeters too, and I thought we would need help with setting up bell tables. The sermon was super short today and we were done in less than an hour. We went out for breakfast then Bob headed to the farm. The elevators aren't open as late on Sundays so he should be home fairly early. They like to fill the semi and/or grain cart so have a load ready to go first thing in the morning. I've done some laundry and cleaned up the kitchen again.
Susan, :hb: :balloons: :bday2you: I hope you have enjoyed your special day! "Gma," good luck tomorrow! Some of our banks will be closed tomorrow but we are going to count anyway. I think it is the church bank that will be closed and the hospital bank will be open. :dunno: I guess we'll find out tomorrow! I am subbing in an afternoon card club and just hope I have good cards for a change! Hope you all enjoy a nice evening! |

Afternoon all! My surgery went well. Took long time for proposed 20 minutes. I checked in at 10 AM and we left at 2 pm. Only uncomfortable part was numbing eye meds burn like a son of a gun and we were all ready and she got delayed in other room and I had to lay strapped down for 20 minutes before she came in. They took pity on me and zapped me with pain meds which helped with the backache from laying so flat.
We had a fast visit with sister and bil but it was fun. We went to Opry Mills and had lunch at Rainforest Cafe then traversed the mall. She is a big fan of Coach bags and I won't pay those prices for a canvas bag, but went in with her. Her husband talked her out of the one she wanted and the one who doesn't like them bought two leather handbags. Retail total was $900 and after outlet price, sale price then coupon for 25% off the combo inc tx cost me $247! I saved $618!!! The chain bag I bought in that color but the black one is this grgeous navy. Jean: Gosh I hope the wedding was at least nice. to lug all that stuff. lol It's in the 80's here today. We are an interesting couple at the moment. Jack can't carry anything that takes two hands and I can't bend over at all or lift. So, it can get interesting trying to figure out how to accomplish some tasks like laundry. Sounds like you definitely are in fall. Have a great week! |
Good morning, ladies! 58 chilly degrees and sunshine today. We got 9+ inches of rain in one day from Matthew. Lots of flooding and trees that toppled because the ground was so wet.
I'm still coughing with lots of sinus problems. I went to the doc again yesterday and he put me on high dose of Prednisone and SulfaMed for the next 10 days. Hopefully this will "cure" me for the retreat where I teach begins next week. Donna, I'm glad your surgery went well. How are you seeing today? Your trip sounds like a lot of fun. More handbags! Have a wonderful day! |
Good morning. It's a beautiful day here today. We were out early as I had a follow up appt at eye clinic.
He said everything looks good except some swelling. I do have a lot of floaters and filminess from the medication they put in it, but it is coming around and he told the nurse this morning it was 20/21 so pretty darn good. I have another appt next week then the week after that they do the other eye. Jack's hand is driving him nuts. I guess he didn't realize what a pain a cast can be. He's still got 3.weeks! lol Susan: I was sure hoping you'd be better by now. Do you think the dampness is keeping it from getting better? Hope it gets better and you can enjoy the retreat. Have a good one everybody. |
Good Afternoon! It's a sunny breezy day in my corner of the world, plus a nice 70 degrees! :cp: The guys were supposed to come yesterday, to put in the register and raise the little box by the furnace up on a block of some sort so it won't get wet. They had an emergency so didn't come but did call. Called again today so maybe tomorrow it will happen. I'm tired of having my poop in a group by 8:30 waiting for them to come! I delivered checks to the hospital this morning and made a trip to the post office to return a jacket I ordered. I should learn my lesson and NOT order clothes online. Bob's farmer friend is dealing with the pipeline people trying to figure out how to pump water out of the pipe hole area without damaging any more of his crops. Since Bob isn't helping do that, we are going to Ian's game.
"Gma," glad you enjoyed your visit with your sister and the surgery went well. We couldn't bring our bells down to the room off the sanctuary because of the wedding the night before, we didn't play for the wedding. I would love to see your collection of hand bags! I just bought one and I don't like it because it's too deep and wide. Found another one in the hospital gift shop more to my liking. I feel for you and Jack! I hope your vision clears quickly, the filminess is kind of what I get with watery eyes. Susan, you've had a lot of rain for sure! The tv videos of the storm destruction is just awful. I feel so bad for people who have lost their homes and family members. I hope your new meds will make you feel better soon. I know how much you enjoy the quilting retreats. :D I need to change clothes so we can head to the game. It will be a late night since the game is north of where they live. Amanda sent me the football schedule for the elite team; first round is in Kansas City the first weekend in December. There are five games scheduled between Friday and Monday, depending on if they win or lose. Next round is Texas the second weekend, and Florida the third weekend if they go all the way. We might go to KC but no further. Enjoy your evening! |
Good Afternoon! The sun is finally shining this afternoon, after a gloomy wet start to the day. I about froze at the game last night and haven't warmed up yet. I wore as many layers as possible under my winter coat and wrapped up in two blankets. It was windy and sprinkled a few drops right at the end of the game. I had lunch bunch this noon and thought seriously about a nap this afternoon until Bob came home to change clothes and head to the farm. The last time I looked at the clock it was 3:10 am; I should have gone straight to bed when we got home from the game but I started surfing the iPad. We also shared a Coke on the way home; Bob was getting sleepy so stopped at a convenience store halfway home. Usually it won't keep me awake but I was wired last night. :(
Maggie, :bday2you: :balloons: wherever you are! I have bell practice so need to get going. Hope you all enjoy a nice evening! |
