Afternoon all.

Ceejay – I hope you’re enjoying all the family time now. == I hope they fix your roof soon. Will they do something about the mold? I expect it will stop once the repairs are made, but I don’t know if it’s important to remove what’s already there.=== Your town is not far at all from where my mom currently lives. I'll be going back out there sometime this fall, so it would be great to meet face-to-face when I'm there. No firm dates yet, but I’ll keep you posted. == Re your questions about my new work assignments – haven’t quite jumped into that yet, but soon.

Happy – Gosh, I cringed when I thought of you doing a “deep knee bend” with that new knee! Glad the pulling issue is gone with the removal of the staples. I hope you get your pain meds tweaked to your satisfaction. Enjoy tooling around on your new walker. Is it a fancy one with a tray or basket and hand brakes, etc?? ---Hey, new iPhone – enjoy. (Guess that comes after the frustration passes. ) ==Yeh, I guess I’m in a bit of a funk lately. === “Sewer mouth”?? Don’t even wanna know!

Susie – Glad your dh’s procedure went well. I hope his heart stays in rhythm for a good long time. ==Great goal, great gift!

Shad – Do you have your computer back yet?

Annie – Congrats on your one year of sobriety. -- How are you doing in your boot? The admin broke her foot quite a while back and it’s taking a very long time to heal. She’s in a boot and they also have her using a bone growth stimulator machine. She has to be careful to wear a thick-soled shoe on the non-booted foot to try and match the height level of the booted one, otherwise she gets pain in her hip and back. === Cute fb pics of the little guys.

Hi Dee. How’s the house-hunting going?

==

My weekend was alright. Friday bf’s teeth were still sore from his braces adjustment a day or two before. We had dinner at Culver’s, where he had the cod dinner, with mashed potatoes and soup for his sides. All soft foods. I had soup and an order of chicken tenders, which were very good – opposite of the usual crappy fast food nuggets I avoid like the plague.

I might have mentioned that the cell phones of bf’s mom and my mom are very old and operating on an old network and needed to be replaced. Bf, who was going to the AT&T store on Thursday to get his replacement phone with the non-exploding battery, also picked up the new phones for our moms. These were free of charge, and he got a smart phone for his mom and a flip phone for mine. I asked why he didn’t get a smart phone for my mom as well. He said that I had said not to get my mom a smart phone. Yes, I said that when he suggested we should buy our mom’s smart phones because neither of our mom’s are tech savvy and it would be a waste of money. But if it’s for free, why not? Then if she wanted to, she could also learn to use the other features, like the camera, texting, email, apps, etc. If not, at least it wouldn’t be a waste of money since it was free. So on Friday after dinner we went back to AT&T to exchange the flip phone for a smart phone. After some wrangling with the staff (they claimed the system might not let them scan the bar code again, yada, yada, but it was really just laziness on their part), we got the smart phone. I’ll probably bring my mom her phone when I travel down there next time.

Saturday was the fall fest out in the boondocks where we saw a couple bands. They alternated sets. One was a country cover band, the other a pop/rock cover band we’ve seen & enjoyed many times. I’m not into country, so I was pretty much waiting around for the other band to do their set, though the country band’s 2nd set had more older/classic songs and I enjoyed it more than their first set…The other band was just alright. I don’t know if the sound levels were a bit off, or if it was the lead singer’s voice…but it could have been better. We’ve decided to take a break from this band for a while. That said, it was a beautiful fall evening to spend outside, all cozy in my fleece.

On my drive home from my friend’s house late Sunday morning, I stopped and bought the ingredients for my salad and made that when I got home. The Relay for Life party was nice, though it had gotten hot and humid in the afternoon and we were inside the house. My sister and her hubby made a really delicious German apple cake and I will definitely be making that sometime this fall.

That’s it for me. Everyone have a great day.

No computer back yet. The parts have been ordered. I got a text about that yesterday.
Still using the phone. Last medical appointment today when they decide what to do with me. One way or the other will be a relief. Then I can reveal all, not that you really want to know.

Hello Friends!

It was a very fall like day here in Ohio. I got all of my very summery clothes put away yesterday, still need to get the sandals put away and get out my fall things. I have bought a few new lighter sweaters for work.

I left a few , ballet flat type shoes out and so I'm wearing them now, and I just ordered some new ones. 3 in black and 3 in brown all a little different. I wear them mostly to work with my slacks until it is time for boots.

Last year I ordered a lot of boots as mine needed replaced and didn't order shoes so it was time to replace shoes this year.

I thought I needed to work tonight as it was a crazy day and I didn't get a couple of things done, but I decided they could wait; I need to shop for shoes!

Shad: I hope all with the computer and the medical things have a good outcome.

Happy: How are you liking the new Iphone? My DH didn't have another ablation yet; that is most likely in the future; he had another cardio conversion this time.

Your DH is so lucky that he has stayed in rhythm after his ablation.

Laura: Saw your picture with your friend on FB. Really nice picture of you. I'm sure you mom will enjoy the new phone when she gets it and you show her how to use it. Very nice that you were able to get both moms new phones as well as yourselves.

Ceejay: I'm glad you found the leak and I hope they can get it fixed before too long. I'm like Laura and wondering what they will do to get rid of the mold.

Anne: Loved the picture of your grandbabies on Facebook. Are you over your cold and UTI and feeling any better?

Dee: Looking forward to a post from you soon. I am sure you are still busy with house hunting and things.

DH just got home from his appointment with a guy from our church that he counsels with and does a bible study with, so time for dinner. We are having vegetable soup and grilled cheese tonight.

I'll see you all tomorrow.

Morning all. Another fall-like day. Loving it.

Shad – Hope the med appointment went well yesterday. Yes, of course we want to know what they will “do with you”. Unless it’s gross, haha.

Susie – That’s a lot of shoes! But you needed them and I’m glad you took time for yourself last night. I need some new shoes for work also, and I want some that have more cushioning and support. Something that feels like a sneaker but doesn’t look like one.

Hellos to the rest of you.

==

Nothing much to report. Watched the debate last night. Didn’t expect to watch the entire thing, but I got sucked in by the spectacle of it. Entertaining TV, albeit for the wrong reasons.

We have flu shots here at work next Friday.

I’m going to skip exercise tonight to do a load of laundry and go grocery shopping.

That’s it for me. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning chicks,

I went to therapy yesterday - I had a 90 degree bend last week. He said I had to get to 110 degrees before I could go on the bike. So he measured me after I did the recumbent stepper and I was at 108 which surprised both of us. He then had me do some exercises. At one point he had me on my back, put a towel behind my thigh and had me pull my leg towards me. He then put pressure on my knee/leg to bend. As he applied more pressure he said - let me know when this pulls. It didn't take long before I said IT PULLS. He kept pushing and said let me know when you want to punch me. I said I'm about to whap you with this towel While painful, I do know this is part of the routine to stretch things out and develop a deeper bend. So he measured me after this and I hit 112 degrees. He said - great, do you want to try the bike now? I said you just made me all sore and hurting. Actually for some reason I was feeling very nauseated all day long and I asked him to cut the p/t short by about 10 minutes. I skipped the icing ad the tens unit - could do that at home. But he said I am making unbelievable progress. Not bad for a chunky 62 year old ! I told him my low back was very sore and was it possible they didn't make my legs the same length. He said yes, but in a different way. I don't have a complete bend in my leg (although my flexion on a straight leg is very close to optimum). Because I am still healing, yes - my legs are not the same length. He gave me exercises for the back to release tension and suggested I do the tens unit on there too. I was feeling kind of achy yesterday so I used my muscle relief essential oils which seemed to help. I am taking one of the pain meds they gave me (non narcotic) on a regular basis now and that seems to be helping. I still hurt but it's manageable. And I still need to ice alot. We picked up my new rollator - wheelie walker and I love it. It's much better than the stationary walker because I can do a more natural stride.

Today is going to be a rest day for me as I am sore from therapy. I did 2 loads of laundry and might make a pot of soup and do some reading. It's still rainy and chilly here.

Laura - I watched the debate too. I would not have composure dealing with Trump. My sister said the weather is downright gorgeous out your way - cooler but blue skies and sunny days. Perfect autumn. Are the leaves starting to turn yet? That's great that you pushed for the smart phone for your Mom. My sister did the same thing - they got a buy one get one free deal and they have her FIL on the plan and decided to introduce him to a smart phone too. They opted to go with Sprint as they got a much better deal and AT&T was going to charge them a ridiculous amount of money for their plan.

Susie - that's alot of shoes! Reminds me that I have a bunch in the back of my closet I should donate. Funny how when you don't wear them for a year or so, they are not as comfortable as when you wear them regularly. I haven't messed too much with the iPhone. Loaded a game and added my contacts but that's about it. My sister got her iPhone so she said we can do Facetime now - except I don't have enough bars at home to get a good signal Is your work load at the office manageable finally?

Shad - not true that no one wants to know about your test results. I do I do! DH too. Hoping there's nothing serious or long term going on.

Hello to the rest of you chicks My leg is hurting so I'm going to go sit in a chair and ice it for a while. Have a good one ladies...

Hello Everyone. Short post tonight. I have worked at home for 2 hours to make up for time I took off today to go with DH to a doctor appointment.

This one is for the fistula he has had for over two years and the surgeon wanted him to lose weight, she still wants him to lose 20 more lbs to put him in optimal shape for the surgery and since he isn't having any complications with it--he takes a cipro and a flagel (sp?) a day to keep infection at bay, she wants to delay the surgery until he does that.

DH was a bit ticked off, but I could see it lit a fire in him and he is going to go after it. In the meanwhile, we will have a CAT scan of it in the next week or so (waiting to hear back for when they scheduled it) to get a look at it, since it hasn't been "looked" at for almost 2 years.

I watched the debate last night as well. I felt that Mrs. Clinton was much more poised than Mr. Trump. I don't care for either one of them and I'm not sure yet what I will do at the polls. I don't like the feeling that I'm trying to decide between "the lesser of two evils".

Laura: I like the Comfort View shoes and I ordered them from Jessica London as I can order a 10 1/2 wide and I know right away they have them. I have worn the Comfort View brand for work for years so I have a good idea of what works for me and what does not.

Happy: you are doing great with PT and things. Give yourself a pat on the back.

Shad: Any news? Of course we care and I'm crossing my fingers for the outcome.

Ceejay: Did you get your flu shot?

Hi Annie and Dee!

Had a long post and it is gone. Bloody phone. Can't do it all again so you will get the long story in installments.
First installment. I am okay. Not dead yet or likely to be this week. I will have to have exploratory surgery within the month. I'll be back with more later.

Okay, got back on to sons computer. Technology. Can't live with it, can't live without it.

Right back to the medical maze that is currently my life.

As you know I went to the doc with a sore back. Some time later after a CT scan, I have osteo arthritis in the spine L4, L5, S1. No nerve damage, no bulging discs. However, they see a calcification of the Aorta and a thickening in the uterine wall as well as a mass on the right ovary and cysts on the left ovary. Mass is thought to be fibroids and cysts.
Doc orders ultrasounds of the pelvic area and the aorta. Aorta ultrasound lady says she has seen much worse on some half my age and nothing to worry about. Doctor agrees. Ultrasound on the pelvic area decides that I have a thickening of the uterine wall and the aforesaid mass which may or may not contain a tumour.

Off I go for the blood test and the doctor rings me the next day to come in and see him. So off I go to find out that the blood test has come back with raised markers - these are indications of cancer but not where the cancer might be. Doc orders another CT scan with high contrast dye . So off I go again. This comes back along and along with the blood test results Doc thinks I may have ovarian cancer. The only good news here is that both pelvic and abdominal lymph nodes are clear and there is no fluid in the body cavity. Oh Great Doc orders a referral to the local hospital with a gynaecological specialist. Eventually I get an appointment. I have had 5 days to stew over this. Told the family, told some very close friends what was happening. Preparing for a short future. Ovarian cancer does not have a high success rate. In fact only 40% survive to the 5 year mark.

Off I go to the specialist - sit in the waiting room until my name is called and go in for weigh in and blood pressure - high!!! Can't think why can you?

Specialist checks the blood tests results and the CT scan/ Ultrasound results. Checks with a colleague and tells me that they are 98% certain it is not ovarian cancer. Apparently the cancer markers in blood tests are all over the place with ovarian cancer. Mine were only slightly elevated from the norm. So he tells me I will be 'invited to participate' in some laproscopic surgery as soon as they can get my in to see what is going on. They may remove the right ovary by keyhole surgery but if there is any further problems in there they will perform a hysterectomy - who knew they could do it through keyhole surgery these days. They will also do a D&C at the same time. All that will be coming up within the month. There is a possibility of uterine cancer but apparently that is controllable these days and completely curable. As much as anyone has a cure for cancer anyway.

So that's what I have been up to. It could be worse news - would have been if I hadn't waited for the specialist. Just remember you lot asked for it. I am fine, I will be fine. I will keep you all posted as to what happens next. I've told the Doc that he is not to x-ray my toes. He may find my brain is down there or that I am pregnant!

Howdy kids,

Well Miss Shad - this certainly has been a worrisome month for you. Nothing like waiting around when you think you might have cancer. That is after you get over the initial shock of the words. I certainly hope that is not the case. Keyhole surgery as you call it is what I think they call laproscopic surgery here. It's amazing what organs they can extract from the body through such a tiny hole. Sending you good thoughts and wishes in abundance that things will turn out well and this is something that can be easily addressed and resolved. We already lost Mel, not about to let you go too!

Susie - wow they are really harping on DH to get down to optimum weight. Good for him if he can achieve that goal. I thought that Clinton was far more composed that Trump at the debate also. As for "lesser of two evils" I have always felt that way when it gets down to the final two choices. Can't remember ever having someone I voted for that I was very enthusiastic about. I was frustrated with Trump and the moderator because I felt he never once directly answered a question. He continually ran over his 2 minute time stamp and used most of it to fire back nonsense instead of addressing the question. I thought she scored big when he commented (and basically an admission) that he did not pay any federal taxes for a few years and that made him "smart". I will have to take a look at those Comfort View shoes.

Hellos to the rest of the chicks

I think the P/T pushed me a bit hard on Monday. My leg has been sore for 2 days now. I got up at 3am and moved to the recliner and packed my leg in ice packs. I will tell him to ease up a bit in today's session. This morning I am going out - there is the thrift shop monthly meeting and I decided to attend. Then therapy in the afternoon. Tomorrow I'd like to hit the farmer's market - they are doing a special one although it will disrupt DH from his work as he has to drive me. And I will be going to Bingo tomorrow so my partner can turn over all the paperwork and keys and things before he heads off to vacation next week. Slowly life will resume again.

And with that, I need to call my ride as a reminder to come get me this morning and then go get dressed. Have a good day everyone.

Afternoon all.

Happy – I’ve only noticed color change on one or two trees so far. Good to hear you’re making good progress on the PT, but yeh, rein in the therapist when he gets too aggressive with hitting his/your targets! You don’t want to have to pay for that in pain over the following several days. Especially when you’re seem to be getting back to your normal activities! Sing it girl: “I haven’t got time for the pain, la, la, la.” Gosh, reminded me of Mellie for a moment there.

Ceejay – Did you get your flu shot yet?

Susie – No, neither candidate appeals to me. I hate to have to vote for one just to keep another out of office vs. one I really believe in. But like Happy said, I don’t think I’ve ever had that feeling about a candidate. I’ll check out those Comfort View shoes. I can imagine your dh just wants that fistula to be taken care of and not worry about it (taking Cipro every day!!), but if the doctor’s opinion motivates him to lose that 20 pounds, then good for him.

Shad – I’m glad it’s not looking like “C”, but it’ll be good to have the exploratory surgery confirm that. Bf’s appendix surgery was done laparoscopically and he was out of the hospital the following day.

Dee, Annie – How’s it going?

==

Nothing much to report, so I’ll just get this posted.

Shad
Hugs for you. When they did my D&C the gyn also did a hysteroscopy to take a good look see. He took the lining which was covered up in fibroids. The bigger ones were giving me problems. Sending you lots of good vibes.

Happy
Even knee surgery can't keep you down for long can it? Glad you are doing well in therapy.

Laura
I did get my flu shot yesterday at Walgreen's. They pulled up my information that I had in Arkansas except I used my Medicare card.

Susie
At least the doctor put a fire under your dh to lose weight.

----------------
This morning I ventured down to Springfield to the Toyota dealership and had the recall of the seat belts fixed and they did the inspection. I got up the nerve to go into Republic to the DMV but didn't have all the information they needed. I still can't find my birth certificate. It's here somewhere. I've been through the boxes that are left in the garage. I still have some in a spare bedroom. I called myself going through those last night looking for something else.
I thought my washer died but I think it's the plug in. I'm using another plug in and it's doing good.
My first SS check has been deposited.
Talking about the debates. I'm not sure if I will vote this year. Guess I'm a bit selfish but if you don't vote you are not called to jury duty.
My foot is sore from Monday's walk at the park but I enjoyed it. It's nice there and it was nice there.

Good morning everyone,

Geez I can't believe we are at the end of another month already! This one in particular I hate to see end. Today marks 44 years ago that I met DH at a dance. Talk about where did the time fly to. It ain't always been easy but we have stuck it through. Yesterday the physical therapist (despite my protests) got me on the bicycle. It was really tough at first - I pedaled backwards part way until I could do a full rotation and then he made me go forwards by gently pushing the operated knee to make the full circle. I would not say it got easier but he had me do this for 2 minutes. He said this was impressive and considering only 2 weeks ago I was crying in pain at the first session, he said he NEVER would have thought I would make this much progress so quickly. Never underestimate a stubborn Polish woman Aside from my weight, I am pretty darn healthy and I sort of take a bit of delight when people judge me and then I just blow them away. But I do need to work on the weight too, not to discount that. I would also like to prance at that other orthopedic doctor who refused to operate and left me hanging. Although actually I consider that a blessing - obviously Dr. M did a much better job. Today I am sore as I am finding the day after therapy. He promises to push me a bit further each session. I got up at 4am and ice packed the leg and fell asleep in the recliner until 7:30 when the workmen started back up again. I want to get to the farmers market today - I hope it's worth going to as DH is interrupting his work to take me. I hate to have to ask him to drive me all over, especially when I could have otherwise done it myself. But no driving for ... well let's see what the doctor recommends next week when I see him for follow up. I know the doc can see the physical therapist's notes. I don't think I would have a problem driving, especially the 4 - 5 mile trips I would typically take into town and then back home again. Anything further than that I would ask DH as I'm sure the leg will tire. I still get tired quickly. I hope I can make it the 5 hours through bingo tonight but this is the last week before D goes on vacation and he's got to turn all the keys and books over to me today. I did get an invite to the annual Volunteer thank you luncheon for the Senior Center volunteers. At least they acknowledge my presence now Yesterday's meeting went well at the Thrift Shop. There was drama as always but being away from it for a few weeks, I was in a better temperament to handle it. Also another board member joined the group after she retired this year and she's very much like my personality except she's even more vocal so many times she says what I would like to say.

Ceejay - I had heard too that they pull jury duty from voter registration but then again, I also heard that is not true. I think they actually pull voters from the Department of Motor Vehicles - drivers licenses and state IDs. It sounds as if you definitely picked the right place "to land" for retirement. That has to be a good feeling especially after all the second guessing about what would be the right thing to do. Sometimes we just have to "jump in the pool, give it a try" and if it doesn't work out, go to plan B.

Laura - that's funny as I was reading your statement about singing (good song choice BTW) I also thought of Mellie. She must be floating above watching over us. Did I ask you if you saw the movie "The Girl on the Train?" I just picked up the book but haven't started reading it yet. I want to see the Deep Sea Horizon - about the offshore drilling platform that is coming out next month. It's always a treat going to the movies up here because there's never more than 10 people in the theater

Hope all is going well with the rest of you ladies. I need to get dressed, I told DH I'd be ready to go to the FM at 10:30 and since I am interrupting him and we are waiting on the delivery of the replacement siding, I guess I had better be ready or the bus will leave without me Have a good day everyone.

Morning all. Rainy and overcast today. I made it home yesterday without any rain, and this morning’s commute was dry too. Fingers for my PM commute.

Ceejay – Glad you got the flu shot. How convenient that Walgreens already had you in their system. That’s one nice thing about a national chain. ==Hope you find your birth certificate soon. Huh. I’d have to think a bit about where mine is… Might be in my passport file folder.

Happy – Happy anniversary to you and Mr. Happy! == Good going on another productive PT session. == I haven’t seen the movie “The Girl on the Train”. I do have the e-book, but I haven’t read it yet. I think I’ll read that one after I finish my current book, which is a stupid one by Janet Evanovich and some other co-author she’s taken on. Not her bounty hunter series, but the first in a new series. Almost done with that one, and good riddance! Good thing hers are quick reads. == Good luck at bingo tonight!! And be careful!!

Hellos to the rest of you.
=
Nothing much to report. I’m being a slacker this week and haven’t done any exercise. I shopped on Tuesday and did a load of laundry last night. Maybe I’ll exercise tonight. Of course we’re supposed to be doing our vacation research because we’re meeting tomorrow night to discuss it. Sigh. I’m just not into that. I guess I don’t mind choosing the excursions bf and I will do at each of the cruise ports, but the airfare and lodging part of it is a PITA.

It was rainy once I got home from work, so we couldn’t grill the pork chops outside last night. Bf decided to fry them inside. He breaded and fried them and they were just fine, but the whole house smelled like fried food last night and it still smells of it today. Ick. I hope it’s cleared out by the time I get home from work.

I need to make an appointment with the foot doc – my right heel is getting progressively more painful and I think I have a heel spur.

That's all.

Afternoon all. TGIF. Goodbye September. Boy that went quickly.

Rainy, overcast day here, but my AM commute was dry.

I thought I had a hair appointment tomorrow, but the calendar says next Saturday. So all I/we have planned for this weekend is dinner tonight to discuss cruise plans. Bf and I have done close to nothing… Another couple has an Arizona vacation coming up in October or November and I have a feeling they may not be focused on cruise planning either.

That’s about it for me. Have a good weekend everyone.
