Hello Everyone! We are having Spring in Ohio this weekend. It was 58 degrees yesterday!
Thank you ladies for all your support to me as I support my friend with the loss of her son. The funeral is in a few hours. I didn't go to church this morning as I would have had to gone from church to the funeral home. I just didn't want to push myself with time. Happy: The new doors make the room look so much brighter. I hope the man was able to trouble shoot the poor installation and it will be fixed soon. Ceejay: I hope you are having a nice time with the Uncles. I once had a handicap room at a hotel once. I think you most likely got that room as the hotel was almost sold out and it was one of the last rooms they had. They have to hold that room the longest. It I remember correctly I had a lot more "open" space in that room and with it being at the end of the hall it was pretty quiet. Laura: Pushups are such a great all over exercise but when one starts doing them it is easy to get sore muscles very quickly. Be sure to stretch and drink water to get that soreness out of the muscles. Shad: Did you buy anything on your shopping trip? Annie: LOL the coffee and your grandbaby. I am sure C loved it when Jacob told his mom to "not be home" and the reason was because he wanted to keep playing with Papaw. So cute! Michelle: I hope the headache got better. What a great concert you are going to see! I'm a bit jealous!! I like the title for February. Not much else from me. I had a .6 lb loss at TOPS on Thursday. I was expecting a small loss because I had a bigger one the week before. I'm ok with it as it is a loss. So for January I averaged losing 1 lb a week and I'm great with that. I want to be healthy and look good and I think 1-2 lbs a week average is the way for me to be that. |
Happy
I like the new doors. Michelle I hope your headache is gone today. ----- Went to eat lunch with the uncles yesterday but called one uncle to make sure that I got the day and time right. He didn't want to leave my aunt alone so I offered to stay with her while he enjoyed a moment or two out with his brothers. My aunt and I had a good visit. She acted like she was glad I came. She wanted a tuna sandwich from Subway so that's what we ate for lunch. I'm done with hotel stays for awhile. Have mercy this one had a lot of noise too. The hotel set further away from the road so the traffic noise was not bad. The parking lot was lit up which was good but my room was directly in front of the light pole and no way to pull the curtains. They also put me in a handicapped room. Not ready for those high toilet's just yet! Found the exchange plan on line this week end so I'm starting this one today. I'm not sure if it's WW plan. It's easy to plan. |
Susie
We are having the same temperatures. It's a bit windy though. You are probably right concerning the room. Congrats on the .6 loss. I would take it. |
Good morning all,
The sun is shining - 2 days in a row :yay: We haven't seen much of Mr. Sun in January. Mini heat wave too - you can hear things dripping and melting. But that is short lived, going to drop down to the teens mid week. But it's nice to enjoy the day. Man came to check the door yesterday. At first he was trying to get us to accept things but DH was firm. He finally agreed that they did not install it correctly. They need to order a complete new frame. We are not paying them until it's totally done to our satisfaction. And we aren't being nit picky - just don't expect air gaps (I am still using a blanket at night to block the door frame) and there seems to be a growing trend that the installers do something stupid, break something and never mention it and just hope you won't notice. When we had the roofs done, they put a big gouge and bent the gutter and also broke a part of our satellite dish and said nothing about it. The door guys put nails in the frame the wrong way and split the wood in several spots and said nothing. Not saying there is anything wrong with making a mistake but own up to it and make it right again. I don't know why my camera made the pictures so dark. It was actually quite bright when I took them. DH and I went to the casino last night for a few hours. We ate at the buffet. I was careful to pick my dinner - prime rib, a bit of mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli and green beans and a dinner salad from the salad bar. I did splurge on dessert - 1/2 cup of soft serve ice cream (glad that they had small serving cups) and topped it with some fresh raspberries and blackberries. Very satisfying. The soda was not made correctly - not enough syrup so it was mostly colored seltzer water so I only had a few sips. DH told me at lunch yesterday that he will not go to meetings (good thing as he'd be the only guy and I don't think it would be comfortable for him) but he was willing to go along with the program with me as a show of support. It will make cooking a tad easier but you have to bulk up your food with lots of vegetables and unfortunately he likes the starchy ones like corn, peas and beans vs the no point ones like squash, brussels sprouts, mushrooms, zucchini, etc. So he doesn't get any of the vegetable soup. He was looking for a snack when he got home last night so while I tried to get him to eat the pudding cups I bought for him, instead he decided to eat one of the 2 yogurts I had purchased for me. :^: I tried to explain that he can eat anything in the house. Please don't eat my diet cookies (Belvita biscuits) or my yogurt. :( I guess I will just have to pick up more at the store. My friend called yesterday. She asked me to help her get her "online stall" set up on the new Amazon Homemade online shopping site. We are meeting at the thrift shop (which is closed on Sundays) just for convenience sake. There may be a problem connecting her tablet because I don't know that anyone knows the password to connect to the wireless router. I'm hoping it's in the file cabinet. If we can't make it work, we'll just go down the street to the coffee shop or heaven forbid, McDonalds. Then it's back home to Mt. Laundry and I need to work out a meal plan for the week. I am quickly finding that lack of planning will sabotage any plan. I just need to find something to use up what I already have in the refrigerator and freezer. Still bothered a bit that the foods that were "good/legal" on Whole30 are really high in points on WW. :dizzy: Ceejay- glad you got an opportunity to visit with the aunt. I hope she is doing well in her recovery. With my back issues, I kind of like the high toilet  You know, my all time favorite diet plan was the exchange plan. Very simple to figure out. I guess once they introduced prepackaged and convenience foods that wrecked the exchange plan. I remember in the early 70's when they introduced the concept of packaged foods because more women were working and they had less time to spend in the kitchen. I was newly married and I made alot of stuff with Ragu cooking sauce  People seem to be getting back to homemade which is good. This new WW plan this time around recognizes that there are alot of single households (you) and duo households (me) and they revamped their latest cookbook suggestions just for us instead of recipes that make 4 or 8 servings. That's nice because sometimes it's hard to cut a recipe down - especially if you're not sure you are going to like it in the first place. I hope you do well with your plan. Susie - 58 degrees - oh the joy. I'd spend every free minute outside if our weather was like that. :D I hope that you get a little bit of time to get outside yourself. I hope the funeral service goes well. Has got to be especially sad because he was so young. Good of you to support your coworker. Congrats on a good week and weigh in. I agree with you about the slow and steady progress. Sure we'd like to see 10 pounds down each week and get it off fast (one reason I don't like the Biggest Loser show) but slow and steady wins the race. They do say at WW if you lose too much too fast they will review your journal and tweak things to get you to the 1 - 2 pound a week loss. No worries - I think I am going to have to work hard for just tiny nudges on the scale but then it seems if you lose slow, you can keep it off more easily. Michelle - hope your headache went away so you could enjoy the show last night. Jon Lovitz has a unique brand of sarcastic humor - I loved him as the scout in the movie "A League of Their Own" he was perfect for the part! Your concerts sound like fun too. I know you are a big fan of Heart. Ann Wilson has an amazing voice - like Grace Slick who I can't believe is 70 years old and has snow white hair!!! :yikes: On the other hand, Joan Jett looks like she's hardly aged. Shad - sounds like you are in the throws of summer right now. I do hope you get the rain you need and not in the form of just heavy dripping humidity  Has your veg garden petered out in the heat or did you not have time to get anything in this year? Enjoy your time at home - you have an endless list of tasks it seems. I probably should pop off here and get a bit of breakfast in me so that if we have to move to the coffee shop I will not be tempted by the goodies in the bakery case. I hate using my extra weekly points and due to some eating out, I have had to whittle away about half of them. According to daily weigh ins, I have dropped a couple of pounds but my official first weigh in will be at next Thursday's meeting. Psychologically I always like that to be the biggest number. Ain't that stupid? One lady who got to goal last week talked about her issues with eating. She said she joined WW once when she only had about 5 pounds to lose. She was afraid they would not accept her in so on her first weigh in, she loaded her pockets with rolls of coins so she'd weigh more. :dizzy: Oh my. Anyway, have a good Sunday ladies. I will try and set up the new thread tonight for February. |
I'm really tired of these headaches. Excedrine works, but I can't take NSAIDs (aspirin or ibuprofen) due to my gastric bypass. I'm doing a bit of online research to see if there's anything I can take. Thankfully, the headache went away by Saturday evening so I was able to enjoy Jon Lovitz. He was really funny....funnier than I expected. I've always thought he was pretty funny....as Happy says....very sarcastic. Before the show, the comedy club was also showing promos for upcoming comedians....and one of my faves Dana Carvey will be there in March.
Gotta go...boss is in early....and I still have much to get done. Love and hugs to all, |
Have I missed the February thread?

Morning all. Happy Monday. Happy February 1st. I waited a bit before cutting and pasting this here.
Happy – I’m sorry all did not go smoothly with the door installation, but I suppose you and DH were not expecting it to based on your experience with getting it ordered and scheduled. It looks nice, those sidelights will let in light, and the blinds encased inside the windows – AWESOME. I hope you can get the problems worked out – I think you said you’ll get a new frame – that sounds like the entire install is to be redone – yikes - hope not! Good you held back money as your leverage!! --- Good luck to you on WW. I hope you get what you need out of it in terms of the meeting leader, the meetings, and your fellow WW’ers and the support and accountability they provide. As for the points system – they’re always tweaking it. It’s a for-profit business after all. That’s how they make more money. Even if a past version of it was more beloved, it goes to the wayside. It’s not perfect – but it works for a lot of people. I know it can work for you!! ---Re the neck traction thingy – saw that online (was looking at pillows) and it looked scary to me, lol. ---Gosh, I feel sorry for that woman who is dealing with her recovering husband AND having to pack up the house. Virtually alone, if it wasn’t for you and the HS offering to help.—Oh, interesting that you find Bob Harper boring as the host. I didn’t think Allison Sweeney was very interesting. But then again, as host, they probably have to be very unbiased (or give the appearance of being unbiased), so that can certainly seem like being cold and uncaring. ---Good luck getting your friend set up with her online shop. Ceejay – I wouldn’t necessarily have an issue with a handicapped room. More important to me is that everything works and is clean, and yes, quiet would be nice too. I’m glad you got to visit with your aunt. It surely lifted her spirits. Shad – Sounds like you’ve had enough of the summer heat and humidity. Michelle – Glad you enjoyed the Lovitz show and the headache didn’t ruin your evening. Oh, the concert sounds like a lot of fun! Something to look forward to. Susie – I hope you enjoyed the mild temps you had this weekend. Saturday was very nice here. Sunday was still mild, but rainy. For January, it was wonderful.--- Yeh, pushups are a really great exercise and I wish I could do more of them. Unfortunately, my shoulder issue keeps me from pursuing that to any degree. But I suppose I need to try to at least try to see how far I can get doing the many modifications available.---Congrats on your loss – a loss is a loss! And a pound a week average is great. Keep up the good work! Hellos to the rest of you! == Nothing much to report. It was a lazy weekend I got several loads of laundry done and the dog walks, but that was really about it. Finished watching the first half of Outlander season one and am on to part two. Of course everything I had on hold at the library has all come available at the same time. First season of Fargo, and the 2nd half of the last season of Mad Men. I will pick those up tonight. Good thing I have Tuesday and Thursday evenings to myself, LOL. So much for productivity. I also spend some time reading my current book, A Walk in the Woods. It’s entertaining enough. The author is humorous, and he’s including some history and information about the Appalachian Trail. The book was written in 1998, so I do think some of it is going to be outdated. But I do know more about the AT than I did before, which was zilch, lol. Did anyone watch the live broadcast of “Grease” last night? I thought it was pretty good, though I do like the movie better. I didn’t see the first hour or so, so I missed the particulars of how they did it, but I thought it was very interesting that they apparently used a movie studio and had all those different sets spread about and the cast had to dash around to them between scenes (on foot or in a trolley), and the elaborate use of cameras, etc. The cast was good, but I found some of the singing overpowered by the instruments – amplification issues? That’s it for me. TTFN. |
Morning all,
Going to be a stinker again today but cooling down later in the week. I'm done with summer, let there be Autumn! Still here and still busy. The DS and his partner did some tidying up yesterday, good for them, but now the washing basket is full again. Still playing around in water and damp clothes will be cooler today than sweeping and cleaning and cooking. No time for personals right now. May be able to do those when I come in from doing some stuff outside. Got to get that done before the real heat hits - it's currently only 26 and expected to get to 37. Dog and I will be out in the dog pool if you need us!!!! |
STOP! Don't post here.
