Hey all. I am feeling a little lonely here. Hippee, Chachee, Holli'sHuman, Tracy, Happy, MsMomm - where is everyone?
|
Hi Jolly! I'm with you! Where is everyone? I have been having computer problems. I don't know alot about them but we downloaded XP and it has been headache after headache. My computer is now slower, it wouldn't let us use the printer, said we had to download a new driver, done that and now the computer is just slower than crap. We have no idea if we are suppose to take out windows 98 or leave it.......maybe we should have let someone else do this. Any suggestions?
Hope everyone is doing well. I didn't show a loss again this week. I'm thinking about going on my hubby's exchange program for diabetics. I can't see living the rest of my life without fruit on the SBD plan if that is what's making me maintain. Jolly, anything new in your neck of the woods? |
Hi all. Hippee, I am so not the right person to ask about computers. I am beyond illiterate. I have also checked out the diabetic exchange. I have a huge family history of serious type 2 diabetes. If I don't get my rear in gear now, I will get it, so I need to take it seriously. The nurse we have working with one of my clients just stresses moderation in all things.Right. If I understood the concept of moderation, many areas of my life would be better. How are things going for your otherwise, with family and your friend?

Hello Ladies!
Sorry I've been MIA. Hubby and son were sick and I had to stay home from work yesterday to take care of them. I went out and bought the SBD book this weekend. I am into the second chapter, and want to make my way through it before I start the plan. I've heard good things from a lot of you and some others I talk to and think I want to try it. Some of the recipes sound wonderful! I'll let you all know how it goes and when I start it. I'm thinking Friday. Jolly: I am dancing about the loss of pain! It was so nice to have that pain on the right side completely gone. How is your foot/ankle? I have a bad right ankle. Snapped it in half in high school and stretched out all the tendons. It's never been the same. I can feel the change in the weather in it. How is Bob Greene's book? I am going to try SBD. Raven: If you are checking this, call me. I had a couple sick guys this weekend, but they are feeling better now. I want to get together! Tracy: Identity crisis? I always have to check and see which one of my personalities is with me for the day!!! I bought myself a housewarming gift. I bought a liquid potpourri simmer. Have you seen them? They are wonderful! I bought some "apple cinnamon" liquid and it makes the house smell goooooood! Hippy: I'm here! Sounds like you are doing well with the exercise. I need to get back into it, but not until my doc clears me. Did you make good choices on your lunch items? Some of the salads in restaurants today are soooo good! Good news, ladies! The sciatic pain on the right side is totally gone. I mean GONE!! It just went away some time last week. I didn't really notice it. The numbness is more tingly now in the left side, which is a good thing also. I am jazzed that it's getting better. I am down to 1 steroid a day, and the doseage is going down and will be finished in a week. Yahoo! I better go. I promise to get some puppy pics on here as soon as I can. Home computer's hard drive was what got killed. Purchased a new one, but still need to load all the software. What a nightmare! Be good! Chach |
Hi girls! Jolly, I watched the pounds melt off my hubby when he went by that diet. I never followed it because I refused to eat smaller portions and do without sweets. I think I can do that now. I too have a family history of Type 2 Diabetes and know that I have to do something about it now. I like the plan because you can what you like but just have to control portion size and exchange this for that, I know you know this already but I'm just rambling!
Things here are good. As for my friend, I haven't seen her since her hubby was a idiot. I do talk to her on the phone but it's dreaded conversation on my part because I just don't have any comment when she mentions him. I have nothing nice to say and I refuse to act like I'm okay with him when I'm not. Chach, So glad to hear that your pain is better! I passed on the chips when we went to lunch and ordered a taco salad but didn't eat the shell. How's the new house? All settled in? Off to do a little cleaning and laundry. It seems to be neverending. I swear I think elves come and dirty laundry while I'm sleeping!! Hope you all have a good day! |
Hey Ladies, just pulled my nose out of one of my textbooks to check in for a little bit.
My cousin went on a diabetes diet in order to learn more about it to help her dad and she lost 40 pounds on it. She has lupus and always had a hard time losing weight but she is looking good. My biggest problem with that is that I can't tolerate any kind of sugar substitute, but it does seem like a flexible diet with lots of choices. Jolly really, if diabetes runs in your family you should take it seriously - things catch up with you as you approach the big 40. Of course, queen of no self control that I am, I say this after I just smoked a cigarette. :o :o But I do understand, the toughest part is controlling our brains and what we put in our mouth. I like Bob Greene's books too. He's very down to earth and practical. No living on tabulah and couscous with Mr Greene. And please, don't get me started on Dr. Phil ***sticks finger down throat **** Hippy I thought that was an awesome idea about you ordering for your friend in the restaurant. I am at my worst in that situation, though I generally stick with broiled fish when we go out (DON'T hold the sauce please). And thanks for the warning about the 2 mile WATP tape. I haven't tried that yet, just the one mile. If I'm going to do longer, I'd rather hop on the treadmill where I can see my miles get added up. Although yesterday I wasn't paying attention when I logged in and all my efforts got recorded under my husband's statistics. Chachee, glad to hear the sciatica is finally over. Just take care as you said because once you get it, it does creep back again. Just listen to your body. Hope you get to meet up with Raven. Pics of 2 happy chicks AND the puppies please??? Jolly I sure do hope your foot is feeling better and that you aren't coming down with the dreaded plantar facitis - a real pistol to deal with. Take a warm soak and do some stretches. You can probably use a bit of R&R time for yourself anyway. Raven hope things are going well for you in the great northwest... Tracy girl... I was rolling on the floor reading your journal about your adventures in map reading for your class. How can you find things without a map? You must have an awesome sense of direction. Just keep plugging away girl, you can probably sell houses just with your wit. Well ding dong it's midnight. If I don't get to bed I turn into a pumpkin - all round and lumpy and bumpy - wait, I already look like that. Happy Thursday everyone. |
Howdy Ladies!
I talked with Raven tonight. She has been a busy woman while she has been up here. We are getting together on Thursday morning at my new house. She and her daughter really want to see my puppies, oops, I mean meet me. Heehee. She sounded good and I am sure she will pop in here when she can. They just announced the amount of the Permanent Fund. (The annual dividend paid out to residents off oil revenues.) We will be getting $1100 on October 8th. It's been down recent years. It was almost $2000 about four years ago. Oh well. It's money that we wouldn't get otherwise, too bad we have to pay taxes on it. That will pay for our finishing of the basement and the new furniture for the house. Hippy: Too bad about your friend. I just heard from my best friend that the "friend" that videotaped her wedding is not talking to her right now and won't give her the video. I can't stand that girl, and I guess I was right about her. I hate weak women! I just don't understand. I love taco salads. I always have. I did well with Taco Bell the other night. I only had the mexican pizza and a soft diet drink. Didn't endulge in the usual two soft tacos, chili cheese burrito and mexi nuggets. Happy: Finally someone in this world feels the same way I do about "Dr Phil". He gets on my last freakin nerve. I know a lot of women like him, but I can't stand him. One of my friends is doing his book and is on the second "key". Whatever. I guess if it works for you, then great, but I find him to be condescending. I'll see if Raven brings her camera tomorrow. Our computer will hopefully be done by this weekend. Oh, I won't know what it feels like. Well, not much else to report on my end. Just going to get back to work and get some rest. I'll check in with you all later. Love, Chach |
Hi all. I apologize. The lengthy post I just typed got lost in cyber-space, so this one is noticably shorter. Chachee, I am so glad you are feeling better. I can't wait to see puppy pictures. I hope you are settling in nicely, and have a great visit with Raven. Say hi to her for me.
Hippee - I hear you on the friend thing. Been there :( and it is not fun. I am glad things are going better otherwise. Do you have any particular books on diabetic diets you recommend? Happy - so glad to hear from you, and that things are sounding better for you! How is school? I am trying to take it easy on my foot, but I never take things easy. I did decide to hold off on kickboxing for awhile, and skipped my morning workout in favor of falling asleep on the couch this mroning. I love this time of year. I alwasy sleep better, but also feel like all I should do is sleep:^: Hey, where in Illinois do you live? Some friends and I are thinking about heading down to Libertyville. We want to go drool at things we can't afford at the tack store. Take care everyone. Have a super day. |
Hey! Hey! Hey!!
Jolly, I don't have any books for the diabetic diet but you can search the web and get the diets. My hubby's is 2000 calorie and mine is 1500. I tried to eat from that plan yesterday and felt like crap, I think I put too many carbs into my body too fast. Going to experiment a little and see what happens. Happy, cigarettes......if I could throw those damn things away maybe I could breath well enough to do the 2 mile!!! I have tried to kick that habit for years and no success. Chach, Hope you enjoy your visit with Raven! Have a good day! |
Hello Ladies!
I met Raven and her daughter this morning. It was so good to put a face with a name! We got to hang out for about an hour, but she was busy with things with her dad so we didn't get a lot of time together. They came over and played with the puppies and we talked and talked and talked. She said to tell everyone hello and sorry she hasn't had a chance to check in. She's been very busy with her dad and getting things squared away. I'll let her tell all you about that stuff, but she is one busy chickie! We talked about getting our picture with the dogs, and we both forgot the cameras. Doesn't that always happen? We all have the best intentions, but somethings just fall through. Well, back to work for me. Just wanted to check in and let you all know what was going on. Hey, the left side "tingly" feeling is about half gone. Keep those fingers crossed for me! Chach |
Good Friday!!!!!
Where are you Jolly? I'm ready to read your morning post! I heard that they put tidal wave warnings out from the Japan earthquake for as far away as Alaska. I thought about Raven and Chach. Not alot going on here. Right now it's a beautiful morning but we have a strong cold front on the way with a moderate risk of severe weather later this afternoon and overnight. I can handle thunderstorms but when the wind gets to kickin I dont like it! If they issue a tornado warning I pace and pace. Scared to death of them! We had 3 to touch down last Spring in our area, one of them was 1 road over from where we live. Too close to home for me! We are going to Holiday World Theme Park Sunday. We are taking Jordan and his best buddy for their birthdays. They are so excited. I'm excited that My hubby is taking saturday and Sunday off. Talk to you all later |
Good morning all. Chachee, so glad to hear from you. I am glad you had a chance to chat with Raven, and meet her daughter. I hope she is doing ok, even if she is busy. I am also glad to hear your pain is getting better. How are your babies doing? Hopefully housebreaking is going well, and not all over your new floors. Hippee, this must be the weekend for family outings. I am going shopping with my mom. She has been wanting a mother daughter day. Should be fun. I hope you have a good time with your family. What kind of park is Holiday World? I hope the weather is ok by you. I have a friend who lives in Nashville, and I always get scared by the number of tornadoes near her too. Stay safe.
I did not make it to the gym again today. The foot starts to feel better, then flares up again. I did take the dogs to the dog park last night, which they totally enjoyed. I am going out to ride tonight. My pony and I can both limp around. Well, off to work now. Have a great day all. |
Hello you lovely ladies!!
Just a really really quick note to let you all know I'm thinking about you. My brother's phone lines were messed up, it turned out there was a staple through one of the lines, and they were cross connected. It was finally fixed yesterday, and this is the first time since then I've been able to sit down and actually get online. Chachee - Thank you so much for showing me your lovely home, your absolutely incredibly disgustingly ADORABLE puppies (I still want Peanut) and for understanding so much about how short I was on time. However, the next time you're down in GA or I'm up in AK, we will have to make plans for a slightly more lengthy visit! Ladies, Chach is lovely and witty and a total joy to chat with!! p.s. I had forgotten about your sciatica and you didn't walk with any difficulty at all and that's fantastic!! I hope there are no more flare ups! Jolly - I miss you girl! I miss my pony, and I miss our horsie e-mails! What do you take for your foot? Have you ever tried Aleve? I hate guys that make noises about getting together then never follow up. Happy - Hey, I'm with you on the Dr. Phil thing. He annoys the ever living poo out of me. Hippy - Hope the weather is good and you have a great time this weekend! Tracy - Haven't read the journals yet, but I hope you're doing ok! My dad is safely and happily ensconced in his new home now. It's beautiful, and the lady who runs it is great. There are a couple of the other residents there who are already tickled with my dad, and love to spend time with him. I have to admit, he loves the home. It's been a very emotional week, but not a bad one. It's also been a week filled with eating just about every waking moment. Everyone wants to feed us! I don't know that I've ever been so happy at the thought of getting back to my chicken breasts and yogurt! *oof* Not to mention my own routine. I probably won't have a chance to write again till Sunday night or Monday from work, so I hope everyone has a great weekend!! |
Good Morning!
My guys are still sleeping and I'm just having some coffe and relaxing before the day gets started. I'm not use to both of them being home at the same time so I'm sure it will be a hectic weekend! Jolly, Holiday World is like Six Flags, not as big but alot of fun. Rides, Games ,shows, water park. The water park is closed for the season already but that's okay, it's going to be 64 degrees tomorrow so I will be taking a jacket. Raven I'm glad your trip seems to be going well. My little dog is so funny! Gary got her for me for my birthday last year. She's a little rat terrier but the vet called her a type 2, I don't know, but anyway instead of having long legs and being real tall, she's short and had great big ears. They stand straight up and she is so cute. Anyway, she just woke up and she is just like a kid, she jumped up in my lap and sge puts her paws up on my neck and kisses me every morning then she just lays her little head on my shoulder! I swear she thinks she's human!! Off to have a great weekend with my family. Hope you all do the same! |
G'morning chickies...
Hippy - I have a rat terrier, too. She turned out to be rather a mutant, she got a lot bigger than she was supposed to. I love the little monster, though. :) Well, today is the day we head back to GA. And that is said with greatly mixed feelings. I guess now that Dad is in his new place, I feel more comfortable, but I'm scared this will be the last time I see him. I think I'm going to try to come up again next summer for a couple weeks, depending on whether my ex is still living here or what. But I want to rent a mini-winni and take it up to my cabin on the Denali highway and see if the place is still standing. There was an earthquake up there which was pretty high on the scale, plus no one has been up there for about 10 years, so it's questionable at best as to whether the old place has survived. That's why I'd take the Winnebago. Plus it would give me a chance to see Dad again. I hope. There is one thing that made this whole trip a good one, and that is that my Dad remembered me, and he remembered my kids. Seeing us and getting him out of that horrid hospital room seemed to trigger a lot more memories, and he remembered that Mom had passed away, which was a sad moment. There is one lady who is resident at the assisted living facility who is only 56, and is a nurse. She has had major health problems, and her knees are shot, so for now she's on disability and lives at Shirley's. She's a really neat lady, and had already kind of adopted Dad, I think. It's an absolutely gorgeous home, and Dad's room has these big bay windows. We moved his own dresser in there, plus a table to put by the windows so he can sit there and drink his coffee and read the paper in the sun if he wants. We put a TV/VHS combo thing in there, so that I can take videos of all of us and he can watch them right there in his room. It's really hard to leave him, really hard. But he has my brother here, plus my other brother is coming up next month, and I'll be sending him stuff. I hope he's going to be ok. The flight is a very long one, we leave here at about 8 tonight, and don't get into GA till noon tomorrow. Even with the time difference, that's 12 hours of traveling. *cringe* What I do to save money, eh!?!? Alrighty then, well, I'd better get my tail feathers in gear and go get milk for the coffee (at least I drank skim milk while I was here!) and start some laundry and get a little organized before we go up to see Dad this morning, then we're going to run over and see what's become of our old house in Turnagain, and show the kids the high school I graduated from. It's been a very FULL week, in more ways than one!! Happy weekend, everyone! |
