Talking Thursday & a Very Nice Day

GOOD AFTERNOON IN MAY MAGNOLIAS
☺♫

It is a nice day here in the ♥-Land and I am not planning on doing much this day for my knee is giving me trouble which means the humidity is up some. Will is at the museum and it is quiet around here with the animals taking a nap. Next week Cecil goes to his new home. We are not going to miss him much for he is not the kind of cat we thought we were getting. He is not around us except when he comes in to eat or nap on the bed, otherwise he is outside. He is a very independent cat. He rarely uses his inside butt hut. Just comes in to eat and sleep. If we didn’t feed him he is a good hunter and even though we had his big front feet de-clawed he still kills birds and little bunnies. When he is out back he drinks out of the birdbath. He has on occasion brought them inside to share with Beanie. In Texas we are going to build a little fenced yard for Beanie so he doesn’t get to run free and get himself in trouble.

I have packed as much stuff that I can for we are going to be in this house for quite awhile yet for our departure date is September one as it stands at the present. So that gives me 3 ½ months before we head out. We will be going on vacation the first of next month for a couple of weeks though.

DONNA FAYE You are very fortunate to not have any problems inter your computer for they are a royal pain to deal with.

Talking

Good Afternoon! The sun is shining and it's 68 degrees with the wind blowing strong. I'll take the sunshine in spite of the wind! This morning was my monthly coffee date with my friend whose daughter-in-law filed for divorce. She talked and I listened. Bob went up to the cabin so I ran a couple errands before coming home. I was going to stop at the grocery stores but after seeing the parking lots, decided to either go late this afternoon, before 5, or first thing tomorrow morning. Our graduation is this weekend plus it being a long weekend I imagine people are shopping early.

Maggie, glad you have your computer back again. September sounds like a long ways off, but it will be here before we know it. Why is it that the older we get, the faster time seems to fly?

"Gma," I only have one dream that I remember. Actually, it's from my childhood and I was lost in a jungle. A lion was roaming close by and I woke up screaming at the top of my lungs. I was so upset my mom ended up sleeping with me for the rest of the night. Maddy and Zowie both ove the polis with sparkles! For their birthdays they both ask for pedicures and have a flower or design painted on their toes. They would all of your different colors of polish.

I need to clear off the counter and put my stuff away. I cut up an apple and threw it out on the deck to see if the birds, squirrels, or rabbit might eat it. The squirrel will eat bread which surprised me. I've got two more squirrels losing their fur. They are sad looking, and I wish I could do something for them. Good thing it isn't winter coming soon. We have a gallon jar in a wooden holder nailed to a tree, for feeding squirrels. It's full of leaves and Bob thinks someone has made a nest in the jar. It's up too high for me to see so he will have to check it out.

I need to get busy! Enjoy the rest of a terrific Thursday!

Good morning girls. I have to leave for my hair appointment in just a few minutes, but wanted to get in here in post before I forget.

I hope I have a bit of time afterwards to get to Target and get bday cards and wrapping stuff for Alicia's bday present and a card for T's bday. Tomorrow we are going out to get our meat and soda and produce then Sunday is commissary day and it is supposed to rain all day and every day next week. It looks like there is a big storm in the gulf at the moment coming right for us.

Maggie: Between the cool weather and all the rain my knee has been killing me. I have tried everything from keeping it elevated to heat and anti-inflammatory but it has been really painful as well as my joints in my hands.

Jean: I am going to send you some polish that I have bought and have duplicates on. You can spread it around to the girls. They are like pinks and such so appropriate for younger girls. We have a bazillion birds this year and they wake me up every morning tweeting their little heads off and of course pooping all over the deck.

Everyone have a good weekend!!

Good Afternoon! We've had sunshine, and no wind, for most of the day but the clouds have moved in and the rain is on the way. I went to get my nails done first thing this morning then stopped at both grocery stores. What a zoo! The one had their bakery hot dog and hamburger buns on sale for $.97, usually $2.89 for four. You guessed, not a bun in sight! I suppose with graduation they couldn't keep up but you'd have thought they would have planned ahead. The other store had large quantities of everything in their sale ad. I had to do the gift shop end of the week paperwork so brought the money home with me. Made finger Jell-o and baked beans, so now just have to make the bars. We will have too much food, as usual! On another note, I picked up the prescription allergy eye drops. The bottle maybe holds a tablespoon, I paid $90, and the paper said my insurance saved me $239.99 -- would make it $329.99 without insurance! What is wrong with that picture?! So far I can't tell it is doing any good.

"Gma," bet you are looking pretty spiffy with your new cut and color job! I have had a bird chirping the same sound for most of the afternoon. He has to be in the tree by the deck but I couldn't see him. Maybe he was trying to attract a "friend!" Let me know what the nail polish comes to, and I will reimburse you.

I need to think about something for supper. Bob called on his way home from the office, and is going to see if there are any buns and pick up something to grill. Anything I don't have to fix is ok with me! Hope you all enjoy the long weekend!

Good morning all. Jack went to get his haircut this morning then we are going to head out and get meat and veg and fruit and soda and coffee creamer and ice cream. We have to go three different places to get all that stuff so it will take awhile I am sure with Memorial Day picnic shoppers being in the stores.

I had her cut my hair shorter and I love it. It is so much easier to style and my horrible cowlick on the back sticks up because of being spiked not because it is a mess. She did a great job on my color as usual and I ask her if she had time to wax my brows, which she did while my conditioner was "cooking." She put this lovely warm towel on my head while the conditioner was on. My eyebrow area is still sore from the waxing so I can't imagine getting your you know what waxed like women do today. I'd have to be home in bed for a week.

We stayed up until midnight last night watching the Cubs game. They are in AZ so the game started late. They lost so I was mad I stayed up that late.

Jean: You will not reimburse me. I sent 6 or 8 bottles yesterday priority I can't remember which so they should be to you the first of next week. I tried to be even so I sent two yellows, two greens, two pinks and two of them have sparkles in them so you can divide them up evenly. They are all brand new and most are because I bought duplicates or got them home and decided I didn't really want them. I hope the girls have fun with them. I can imagine what our shopping is going to be this weekend. We have to go to Fresh Market and because it is smaller and has fresh stuff in cases it is always nutso busy on the weekends, then onto WM and I am sure every kook in Memphis will be in there today and then to Krogers to get Jack's favorite lowfat ice cream. That man sure does love ice cream. I have a bit of a dairy intolerance so I rarely eat ice cream. I have to really want a shake or something like taking the boys out. I usually end up with a tummyache for a bit not matter what.

You all have a great weekend and holiday. We leave in two weeks so I am going to start pulling outfits and getting them ironed or whatever to get ready to pack. I have to clean house next week and try and get T's pj pants hemmed.

Talking Satruday and rainey

GOOD AFTERNOON IN MAY MAGNOLIAS
☺♫

I just e-mailed you gals a picture of the back of the MH with the saying we had put on the back with the new license plate.

We went to Wal*Mart earlier and I sat in the Jeep and people watched between the rain drops while sipping on my container of hot coffee. We have ha so much wonderful rain that this one isn’t sinking in readily. Beanie is in here with me keeping me company. He loves to go when we go out and about and is a good traveler.

It was so nice to the the generator running properly in the MH. It needs to be started up on a regular schedule to keep it in tip top shape. It runs very quietly so wouldn’t disturb anyone parked near us. We need to keep it in good running condition to use when there isn’t electricity hook ups where we may be parked mainly to keep the refrigerator running along with any other things that normally run on electricity.

Since school is out now there are a lot more vehicles on the streets and more accidents also. Many of the kids don’t have much experience driving and pull some stupid moves.

DONNA FAYE Sounds like you had a wonderful successful time at the beauty shop. Nice to have folks that do a good job on their customers.

JEAN WOW don't the over the counter eye tear meds work for you? They have them for dry eyes, itchy eyes, watery eyes and you name it there is one for each eye condition.

Good morning all. We are supposed to have rain all day pretty much so we shall see. It did not cool off a whole lot last night. I had to run the ac most of the night with the fans.

Today is commissary day so we will be heading out around 9:30 this morning. We went to Fresh Market and I spent $150 there then went to WM and spent $99 there. Good thing I give myself a healthy food budget I guess. Stuff has gotten so high. I bought tons of fruits and a couple veggie refills. I eat mostly frozen veggies as they last longer. I got watermelon and cantaloupe, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, oranges, bananas and going to get some pears I hope today. We split up in the store and Jack went back to the meat counter and I went to the produce then to the deli as I wanted some nice smoked turkey and ham. I splurged and got myself a tiny bit of this pasta salad in the case. It was a bacon and tomato pasta salad and I had it for lunch and it was delicious but I imagine the calories and fat were pretty high.

Maggie: I saw you MH picture. Looks like it is ready to go.

Everyone have a great day and a great start to the week. We leave in a little less than two weeks so I am starting my infamous lists.

Good Afternoon! It's another rainy day, but no wind. I wish we could be outside since it isn't cold. It was a drizzly day yesterday too, but windy in the morning and calm in the afternoon. We could see the suns reflection behind a cloud bank as it was setting. I was tired last night even though I mostly just sat and visited all day, and ate too much snack stuff. Amanda's mom likes to try new recipes and she brought several. I found the two "for sale" houses across the street online; one is a ranch at $399,000 with only two bedrooms and w/o a master bath, while the other an older split foyer w/o a master bath for $359,000. The houses aren't that unusual, just on the lake with a nice view of the town lights across the lake.

"Gma," the girls will be thrilled to get the nail polish! They might have to share with their mothers since I noticed they both had bright colors on their toes too. My toes were toasty in socks! They were talking about the grocery prices and eggs in particular. With the bird flu eggs will be sky high and no local turkeys for Thanksgiving! Does Jack like fruit as much as you do? Sometimes I buy too much and it spoils before we eat it.

Maggie, the " my house" license plate is cute! You do have fun! Our cabin neighbor has a generator for their new house, and it kicks on every once in awhile. Bob said that is to keep it ready just in case. I am definitely going to try an OTC eye drop! I figured since the doctor told me to take Claritan, that maybe he has something better than an OTC eye drop. I have an online friend who is a pharmacy tech and she gave me a name that used to be a prescription but now is OTC. She named my $90 "prize" without me even saying it. Today has been worse for some reason, maybe lack of sleep. Who knows?

I have sheets in the dryer that should be done. Enjoy your evening and Memorial Day tomorrow!

Good morning to you all. Rainy, rainy in our part of the world and not very cool so it is plenty sticky. I ran the ac most of the night.

We did the commissary shopping again with partially empty shelves. We were lucky we got out of there with all but one thing they didn't have. Sooner or later they are going to give up and close it and then there will be an uproar as the majority of people who shop there I see all the time.

Nothing going on today much. I am going to fix chicken for dinner tonight with mashed potatoes for Jack and some veggies for me but I haven't decided what yet.

Jean: I saw the one house on realtor, but the only other one on realtor I could find was over $400,000. I did see a beautiful old home on Genesco for only $139,00 and it was huge. Is that a bad part of town or something as the home looked in pretty decent shape from the pictures. I would imagine the heating bill for a house that size would be a nightmare though and it was built in 1905. I hope the girls enjoy the polish. They seem fun colors for girls to wear. Jack and I were goofing off last night and looking at what kind of condos are available along the gulf coast (we had been watching beachfront bargain ) In the Naples Florida area there were dozens and dozens so I am not sure the housing market or the economy has turned around all that much. I think what is happening is that retail, to keep from paying Obamacare, has cut everyone to part time then hired more people to fill in the other half of the time they cut the full time workers. So now you have more people back to work, but they are all only working part time. We have had 3 companies here close their doors in the last few months and that is a total of about 3000 or so workers with no jobs. We see houses sit on the market for months and then sell for a lot less. One of the condos we saw had been sold in 2008 when it was new and never resold and the new selling price is $4000 over the original price. I would imagine with negotiations it will sell for less than they paid for it. Hope you can find something to help you. My allergies have been worse than normal this year. I have trouble with my ears and a dull headache a lot. The ears drive me nuts because they itch deep inside. Nothing I take seems to help either.

Everyone have a great day today. A big salute to those who served our country and died in service.

Good Morning! It's not raining at the moment, but cloudy, cool, and gloomy. I am being lazy -- still in my robe with the Today show on TV, and coffee by my side. Nothing planned for today except maybe some laundry. I should vacuum the furry hunks floating around; the boys evidently had a discussion at some point this morning. Both need a good brushing.

"Gma," do you bake your chicken or grill it? Bob just asked if there was anything to grill for lunch. Both houses are on the Century 21 site now. The one directly across the street is white and the other one a blue/gray. There will be a third one on the Real Estate Specialist website but I haven't seen it yet. It's on Emerald Drive too, probably an 800 or 900 address. We have three new doctors coming to town and they seem to prefer lake homes. Geneseo has a mixture of people, north of 5th isn't the best while south of 5th is pretty white. However, there was a drug bust close to the lake end (south) a week or so ago. That is almost a weekly occurrence in this town. Lake Avenue (south of the business district) has old stately homes. Harker House is the first house built and is now a historical show place. It contains furniture, dishes, clothing, etc., from the Harker family. In going through on the tour, you'd think people still live there. There is rumor that the local turkey plant will be temporarily closing. They had a fire last year and paid their employees, plus benefits, the whole time it took to rebuild. I don't know how they could afford to do that again. I am going to try an OTC eye drop that used to be a prescription; someone that is a pharmacy tech, recommended it.

I need to get dressed and unload the dishwasher. Bob went to get bird and squirrel food. The robins are eating apples that I cut up for them. They were old and I was going to toss them but thought maybe someone would eat them -- the apples, not the birds! Bob says they are smart because they don't eat the peel, like he prefers his apples.

Have a marvelous Monday and remember our military men and women!

Good morning to you all. I think we are in for more rain all this week. It is so gloomy. We had periods of heavy cloud cover then some sunshine and back and forth yesterday. Jack had to go out and get some bread so he had bread for his lunch this week, but I stayed put so don't know what the weather was like around town. We can have rain here at the house and a few miles away it is sunny so who knows?

I am going to clean the downstairs first thing this morning then it will have to wait until I get back as the first part of next week I am going to be way to busy packing and such. I have to do the mail hold on Saturday so I can be sure they start it. I do get tired of them not doing their jobs and I have to always follow up behind them. I will call on Monday to make sure the hold is in place even though we aren't leaving the later in the week. It is way too inconvenient to get a mail box at the post office so I just have to put up with it and try and get them to do what they are supposed to do.

Jean: I put chicken in the crockpot a lot. I love it, but Jack hates chicken on the grill for some reason so we never grill chicken. I do fry chicken if we are really in the mood, but rarely. I use it in chicken and noodles too. I saw the house that was 1009 I think and the one down in the 800 block but the other one didn't pop up on Realtor.com. Like I said the old house that is for sale looks like it was well taken care of inside with a lot of original stuff but the baths and such were updated it looked like. I just wondered with a house that big why the price was so cheap other than a bad neighborhood maybe or they are selling as is and there is a big problem with it. I am not a huge fan of raw apple but I like baked apples. I hate apple pie for some reason.

Everyone have a good Tuesday. With the holiday my week is going to be all screwed up.

Good Morning! It's another wet gloomy day in my neighborhood. There wasn't much to count at church so I was done early. Then I stopped by the hospital to drop off a check on my way home. I've ironed clothes for the funeral this afternoon and have my baseball game clothes ready for a quick change afterwards. I think it will be leftovers for lunch and maybe supper after the game tonight. We are going to another small town so have no idea what eating places might be available.

"Gma," we had sunshine later in the day yesterday. It was so nice! Good luck with your mail stop! I must say our local po does get that right. Bob picks it up the day we are leaving town just in case there might be a bill in there. Kolby takes after Bob about apple peels. He is a picky eater but will make his own Ramin noodles or mac 'n cheese. Funny how people feel about different foods. Bob ushered at a funeral, and among "things most people didn't know about the man" was he wouldn't eat anything with butter on it.

I need to do a few dishes and get ready for lunch. Hope you all enjoy a terrific Tuesday! (Seems like Monday, and it should be June!).

Good morning to you all. We are expecting rain today again but nothing so far. It is supposed to rain for the next 10 days with lots of thunderstorms so I imagine we will leave out of here having to drive in the rain until we head a lot more north when we go.

I cleaned the downstairs except for dusting and will tackle it and the upstairs bathrooms today. I really need to sit and hem T's pj pants so maybe I will tackle it tomorrow and Friday and get it done. I want to pack over the weekend as much as I can.

I have a load of laundry that I have to transfer to the dryer when I get finished here than decide on what breakfast will be. I get tired of trying to find stuff for breakfast. I am not a big cereal eater and don't want to be eating eggs all the time. I do eat Eggos from time to time with fruit, but again I have to watch the carbs so much. I bought a chocolate and a strawberry protein powder to make shakes to drink between meals for hunger. They have no sugar in them so am hoping they not only taste good but can help with cravings and hunger feeling.

Jean: Tell Bob I am always afraid the PO is going to toss stuff around so much so I over tape. I kind of had the idea for you to take the polish to the lake with you. You might want to grab a bottle of polish remover to go with them though. Hope the girls have fun with them and no you cannot pay me for them. I don't have granddaughters and it is fun to do something for girls once in awhile. Oooh who doesn't like butter? That's un-American. That's kind of a strange thing unless it was some medical thing.

Have a great day all.

Good Afternoon! The sun is shining, NO wind, NO rain today, and it's a beautiful day in my neighborhood! I worked the gift shop this morning and even sold a few things. A couple gals I haven't seen in a long time were there, having coffee, and waiting for family members, so I got to visit with them and catch up. I've been picking up the clutter and writing church birthday cards this afternoon. Tonight is an end of the year party at a teacher's lake home; I worked with her more than any other teacher and she just moved into this house so I'm sure she has invited everyone she could think of. There is a pot luck but we are going later because I don't want to cook or make anything. Ian's game last night wasn't pretty. The other team obviously had some serious coaching and had their game together. Ian struck out twice and I felt sorry for him. He can hit during team practice or when Jason pitches, but I think he gets nervous during a game. Last year they bribed him to swing, with DQ blizzards, and that helped. Not sure if it might this year. The final score was 12-4, not good and they will play this team twice more.

"Gma," can't you hem the pj pants on your machine? I have a pair of OLD slacks I intended to hem, and now they are too big! They are going in the Good Will bag. I don't use liquid eggs but Amanda's mom was at the game last night and said their small town grocer told her he wouldn't be able to get them any more because of the bird flu. We don't eat a lot of eggs but I always have some in the fridge. Our minister likes to add personal tidbits to his funerals, thus the one about the man not liking butter on anything. I can't imagine toast or popcorn without butter! At a funeral for a 85+ year old lady, he said he bet most of the church members who knew Dottie didn't know she had two tattoos. People were looking at each other, like "Wow!" Well, he said, she had her eyebrows done many years ago when she and her husband wintered on Florida. Everyone got a chuckle out of that. I grew up eating popcorn in a glass of milk and no one around here had ever heard of that. Now it doesn't taste as good because we don't use whole milk; I don't even like milk normally. Again, I thank you for the nail polish! The girls will have so much fun with them! That is a good idea to take along nail polish remover.

Tomorrow is my crafty club spring road trip. We are leaving town at 9 and should be home by 5. Enjoy the rest of your day and evening!

Good morning to you all. It is a bit stuffy this morning and very humid. Old story of more and more rain.

I did the upstairs bathrooms and so I am done for a bit now. I don't imagine I will get another round done until we get back just spit and shine here and there.

I am going to put up my sewing table and at least get the pj pants pinned to hem and then either today or tomorrow I will hem them and finish them up.

I fixed this recipe I saw on FB last night and boy was it good. I did it a bit different as I didn't use thyme. I also used canned sliced potatoes instead of raw diced potatoes. They hold up so much better. Anyway it is roasted potatoes and smoked sausage. You sliced the sausage in discs and mix the potatoes and sausage in olive oil only I used Pam spray to cut down on it and then just salt, pepper and paprika and toss it all together, lay it on a jelly roll type baking pan and put it in a 400 degree oven for 30-60 minutes taking it out every 15 to mix it up. At the end you sprinkle some grated cheese over it and turn off the oven and stick it in until cheese melts. Jack loved it. It isn't something I would make very often because it does have a lot of calories and fat, but wanted to try it out. One pan clean up was nice too.

Jean: I am machine hemming the pants, but I have to spend time pinning the hem in place, etc. I have to be in the mood. I wonder if chicken and eggs are going to go sky high now. I saw that the county fairs in Indiana are not allowing any bird showings this year because of possible contamination so all those kids who raised chickens, ducks, etc won't get ribbons or such this year. Can you imagine how much it must hurt to have eyeliner permanently tattooed on your eyes? UGH! No, can't say I have ever heard of popcorn in milk. I know peanuts in coke is popular with southerners here. I had a cousin who put them in Dr Pepper and another who put them in her grape soda. Jack grew up eating peanut butter and maple syrup mixed together and bread dipped into it. Ick, it has the worst smell. Maple and peanut butter odor is icky to me. We used to eat buttered bread with brown sugar on it as kids but that is about the only thing I can think of we did unusual. Funny the things you eat as kids.

Everyone have a good Thursday.
