But I couldn't go there without also coming here to the best group on the net. It's wonderfull to see so many of you still here. Sylvia this is so exciting for you. Many blessings to your little one. Sharon I hope that I will be hearing from you. Cj, it's nice to see that you are still the queen.......... Take care all. Julie

synger 08-10-2003 10:26 PM

Today was my birthday. I had a really good day. Spent most of yesterday shopping. My houseguest took care of Gem so I could have the afternoon to myself. It was GREAT! I walked the mall, shopped for new cross-trainer shoes (my bday present to myself), and got a couple new musicals (A Chorus Line and Kiss Me Kate). Tomorrow I'm taking the day off so we can go to the County Fair. I'm hoping the weather holds.

synger 08-12-2003 12:22 PM

/grumble at houseguest. Sunday I told her and told her that after I put Gem to bed I wanted to work out. Unfortunately, Gem wouldn't settle, so it was almost 8:45 before I could even think about it. I ask houseguest what time she wanted to go to bed, so I could figure out what sort of workout I could do (45 minutes is lifting. An hour is lifting and yoga/stretch or cardio. An hour and a half is lifting and cardio). She said "9:00". Argh!! I fumed for fifteen minutes while she tried to apologize and guilt me. She was drunk, too, which didn't help my mood. Finally, I said, "Look, I need to work out. I'll pick a short workout and you can be in bed by 9:30. How's that?" We agreed. I did Tae Bo, since it's only 30 minutes. Then she got a phone call and watched TV. She didn't even GO to bed until 10:30. /grumble

But I DID get my workout. Thirty minutes of Tae Bo gets the blood pumping like none of my other "short" workouts. And after the first five minutes, I was able to ignore her and my anger and focus on my body. By the time I was done, I felt SOOOOOOO good. Even her interminable chattering didn't bother me. /grin

Yesterday's trip to the county fair was fun, but not the healthiest of ventures. /grin Got a lot of walking in, though. And I DID do a pseudo-plan for eating. I ate a light breakfast with lots of protein before we headed out. I took a water bottle so I wouldn't want soda. I looked up the calories on funnel cake ahead of time, because Hunter can't go to the fair and not get a funnel cake, and I wanted to know how much of his cake I could allot myself (not as bad caloricly as I initially thought). I ended up getting a ham and cheese sandwich instead of a corndog or pizza. And a nice fresh lemonade instead of Coke. The surprise was how many calories were in the caramel apple. I had expected it to be like an apple and a candy bar, so about 300 calories, and it was more like 500. But I at really light when I got home (and lots of protein to offset all the sugar) and actually still made it in under 2500 calories. (I aim for between 2000 and 2500 a day.)

Gem loved the fair. We saw pig and duck races. The ducks were the funniest, because they stopped halfway 'round the track to "converse", then continued on. The pigs were really fast. We went through the cow, goat, sheep, and rabbit barns, then saw a lion/tiger show done by a big cat conservationist from Florida. He's the youngest Lion Tamer in the world at 23, and is an eighth generation Lion Tamer. (http://www.bigcatencounter.com/) Very fun. And Gem LOVED it!

Then it started raining, so we ducked inside to check out the arts and crafts, the old-timers exhibits (historic farm and settler equipment), the many booths set up by churches, political parties, merchants, etc., and the produce and items judged during the fair. I knew we'd see knitting and lace-making and vegetables and canned goods, but I didn't expect decorated cakes (some of which were amazingly lovely). Makes me want to dig out Rodgers and Hammerstein's "State Fair" and watch it again (the version with Dana Andrews -- NOT the one with Pat Boone and Ann Margaret). Our favorite exhibit, though, is the Great American Railroad -- a HUGE model train set. It has three or four trains running around it, and each side of the table has little signs. "Can you find the man climbing a ladder?" "Can you find the firetruck?" Fascinating!

We got a chance for Hunter to take his nephew (who was with us) through the Fun House, and for the boy to win a stuffed animal (which he gave to Gem) and a goldfish (which he took home) before the rain started up again in earnest. By the time we got to the car, we were all soaked to the skin. We got a dry baby blanket out of the trunk and wrapped Gem in it in her car seat. She was asleep by the time we hit the highway. Poor girl. But all evening all she could talk about was the tigers and lions. And the train.

Today it's back to work, and we couldn't do anything because of the virus this morning. It's hard to not have use of your computer when you're a webmaster. Kinda goes with the job, doncha know. /grin But now we're up and running again.

Howdy Ladies!!!

I hope you are all doing well. I'm finally out of the hospital and the proud mother of Nicolas Antonio Martin Susbilla (Nico for short) born 8/11/03 at 4:57 AM. I had to be induced Saturday evening due to low fluid and went into hard labor about 9:00 PM Sunday and pushed from 2:30AM to 5:00 AM. All I have to say is that I used the ab muscles I never thought I had!

I'd like to thank all of you for your good wishes and support through my baby's conception, my pregnancy and finally, birth. You have made this whole journey so much easier for me even in those emotional moments where I never thought I would be sitting here holding my beautiful baby boy.

I will continue to post when I can and I have to get back on that weight loss wagon again. This time, Nico is my inspiration rather than looking great in some outfit.

I tried to attach a picture of me and the baby and it didn't work. If you would like to have me send it to you, please e-mail me at [email protected]

Love to all-

Sylvia

Sassy 08-16-2003 03:37 PM

Hey Sylvia,
Congratulations to the proud Mom and Dad. I am soooo happy for you. Why I remember when you were a single gal and going out with your boyfriend, now you husband and father of your beautiful little boy.

I would love to have a picture of Nicholas. I will email you with my email address and can't wait to see him.

Julie-I am glad to see that you dropped in and are doing great. I have been thinking about you and wondering how you and Niles are doing. Gosh talk about time standing still, it seems like you guys just got marrried. How is the family doing? I bet the kids are getting so big. I really was thinking about you, in fact was even thinking about giving you a call to see what you were up to. Post again and let us know how you are doing on your new plan. I will try one of these days to email you too and let you know how things are going.

Synger-Hello and happy belated birthday to you. :hb: Hope it was a great one. So you have a houseguest over, that is great that you friend is helping take care of your baby. How old is she anyways now? Glad everyone enjoyed the fair, I love fairs, but I hate all the fattening food they have there and I just can't control myself if I get an elephant ear or funnel cake cause my husband doesn't want any of it and I sure can't eat the whole darn thing so most of the time I pass in them. I think you did well on what you did eat. You have lots of willpower picking the ham and cheese sandwhich. Good for you and good job on you workouts as well. I checked out that tiger websight and it was great.

CJ-Where the heck are you girlfriend? Miss you, got your email about how busy you were with all your company so hope to get a longer one when everyone is gone. I will wait patiently. LOL Hope you are having fun with you family. Post if you have a few to let us all know what is going on.

So where is everyone? Judy????

I have been busy with my Dad, Papa who I brought back with me for a visit. I will be taking him back to Michigan next Thursday so I will be MIA. LOL A friend of the family are having us over for dinner tonight in honor of Papa, he will be so happy cause he really loves to eat. Surprisingly he is not overweight, but what can I say after being on a feeding for 6 months last year who wouldn't enjoy their food. HA HA So should be fun tonight.

Just doing good, trying to get back on track from all my traveling and going off track. I have been doing great eatingwise and have been trying to drink my water and have started exercising again. In fact I was just on my way to tackle the treadmill downstairs so I will leave you guys and talk to you later. Love, Sharon

:flow2:

Do You Remember Me?

I used to be one of the original Thin Groupers! ;) Haven't been around for a loooooonnnnggg time.

... Actually, that's not true. I've been lurking for months. Always keeping track of you guys, always watching from afar. Making you nervous?? I stopped posting here when I felt like I didn't have anything left to offer and there wasn't much hope for me. But, as I said, old habits die hard and I often found myself poking around in here.

The thing that brought me out of the woodwork ....?? SYLVIA!!! Congratulations on the birth of your bundle of joy! :bb: I too remember when you first dated and then married your hubby and was around when you announced your pregnancy. I too have been waiting for the news. I wish your new little family all the joy in the world!!! :)

Like I said, I'd come in here sometimes to see what's happening with you all. I loved seeing all the familiar names come and go. I have to admit to being a little hurt when someone would post about the "missing" thin group members and my name never seemed to get mentioned. :sorry: But, as I said, I was feeling sorry for myself.

Anyway, don't know if you remember that, about 5-1/2 years ago, I had ovarian cancer. Well, actually, I'm currently at home for 6 weeks recovering from a hysterectomy. :stars: The doctor wasn't liking what he was seeing in ultrasounds and other tests and it was decided. I've been a hurting camper for a while but it gets better every day. Developed an infection and was put on several medications that cause nausea, vomiting and other assorted yucky things. :o Ah but you don't need to hear about that.

The good news is that I've decided that once I'm back on my feet, I'm officially starting over. :strong: I'm currently on medical leave from my Curves membership and I had been thinking about going back to WW but a friend recommended TOPS and I've been researching that and think I might join them. Same basic idea as WW with weekly meetings and weigh-ins but a lot less expensive.

Not sure how you guys might feel about my return but, if I'm welcome, I'd like to come here and post every now and then. :^: For now, I've got to get just a little food into my stomach before I take more of this horrible medication. It's quite a game I've learned to play. Oh what a glamorous life I lead.

One more time ... CONGRATULATIONS SYLVIA!!!

Blunder 08-17-2003 08:55 AM

JELLO JELLO JELLO!!!!!!!!

Darling, I have missed you more than anyone! I have never logged on here without thinking of you! It was such a pleasure (and usually a chuckle) to read your posts. You are one of the main reasons that I kept coming back each day! Please stay with us and share your everyday life with us again, okay? Sorry about your surgery, been there, done that, know how painful it was, glad you are on the road to recovery now.

Sure would be nice if some of the other original Thinsters would quit lurking and start posting again. Anybody heard anything about Sandy, Carol, Carolyn, Gail, (and a bunch of others whose names just aren't coming to me right now)? If you know how to get in touch with any of them let them know how much they are missed, maybe they will stop by for a quick "Hello".

Sylvia, congratulations! I'm so glad that Nico has finally arrived.
I sent a card but I think I forgot to tell you that I sure would like to get a pic of him too! I love babies!

I'm switching all my messaging to SBC tomorrow, so will be changing my email address. I'll let everyone know as soon as I get it all done.

Hugs, Judy

synger 08-17-2003 07:18 PM

Congrats, Sylvia!! How exciting for you! We're all here for you as you adjust to this new part of your life.

My baby girl is 2 and a half. It was about three years ago, when I got pregnant, that I stopped my weight loss journey and stopped hanging out with The Thin Group. /sigh It's great to see some old friends around here.

Jello! /hug It's great to see you again.

synger 08-18-2003 07:19 PM

Spent the afternoon walking and shopping in Harper's Ferry, WV with Hunter and Gem. http://www.nps.gov/hafe/home.htm

We stopped at a Cracker Barrel restaurant on the way there. I had chicken and dumplings, but I ate the chicken pieces (two tiny ones) out and only ate a few dumplings. It wasn't good enough to eat the whole thing. I shoulda gone with the roasted chicken and gotten more protein for my money. The turnip greens and carrots were good, though.

Once we were in Harper's Ferry proper, we had lots of walking up and down hills and steps, pushing the stroller. We did some shopping, and I splurged and got a root beer float. Then we went down by the river and let Gem out of her stroller to walk the paths to Virginius Island. By the time we loaded up the car and got back on the highway, Gem was asleep.

Personal note: While we were walking by the river, Gem was showing us how she could "run." (at 2 and a half, it's more like a duck's waddle, but she's proud of it) Hunter would run a few seconds ahead, then Gem would run after him, giggling all the way. They did this a couple times, then she started saying "Momma run! Momma run!" Well, I haven't gone beyond a walk in over ten years, but for my baby I broke into a jog. That was good enough for her! She and I played the "run and catch" game for a few minutes. And this fat body was able to jog for a few seconds at a time. Surprised me to pieces. /grin

Then when we got home, we put on our swimming suits and played in the pool. She and I do a dancing, jumping game in the pool, where I hold her by the arms and dance/jump around in a circle while singing the Hokey Pokey. She thinks it's GREAT, and keeps saying, "Ghin, Momma?! Ghin!" (ghin = "again" in Gem-speak).

So I had really fun exercise today. And we had a great time.

Blunder 08-19-2003 09:42 AM

Good Morning All!

For those of you who didn't get my e-mail telling about my new address, here it is...

Hope to hear from some of you.

Sassy 08-19-2003 06:36 PM

Hey what do you know, it's our old friend Jello. Jo it is wonderful that you have come back to the fold. This is starting to feel like the good old Thin Group we used to have with the addition of some wonderful new people that completes us.

Jo-Glad you posted with us again and you were missed and I really did miss you wonderful sense of humor you had here. Don't get hurt feelings, cause you know how much we all love you around here. You know you are ALWAYS welcome around here. I hope you are recovered from you surgery and doing great. Good luck with whatever program you decide to go on. I am STILL on WW and have been for like 4 yrs and depending on the day of the week, I ponder if I still want to continue or try some other program. But for now I am sticking with it. Next Monday they are giving everyone new material so maybe that will inspire me to get that. Happy you are back and hope to hear from you lots and lots to help inspire everyone here and we hope we can do the same for you.

Sylvia-Got the wonderful picture of you and the adorablel little Nico and both of you look great to me. How is motherhood doing for you, besides you must be tired from it all. Believe me, after having 4 I know the feeling. Just please try to rest if you can and let everyone else wait on your hand and foot like the queen you should be for now. LOL

Julie-Hey Jules, so glad you came back and posted again. Miss you missed you and missed you even more. Chrissy is great, in fact I will see her on Thursday when I take my Dad, Papa back to Michigan to his assisted living place. So Niles wants to wear his kilt to the fair eh? I'll bet he will looks cute in that. I can hardly believe that it will be 3 yrs, but when I think about it, it has been that long.

Judy-Hey there, got your email with your new address, thanks, it is already in my email address book. Speaking of oldies, I still email back and forth with Gail. Ken has retired and she has just been busy doing things with him and traveling. They bought one of those big travel trailers and have been on the go. As far as weight she has just been doing her own thing and trying to eat healthy and has been doing pretty good with that. I will email her again or try to call her and see how she is doing. I know we would all love for her to come back as well as any other oldies, but goodies. Chrissy is so busy, getting her new business started up, which is helping the elderly with anything they might need with their care, or errands ect and doing pretty good she says. She also works part time on the "Ask a nurse" phone help line. She hopes soon she will be able to quite that job and concentrate on her new business. She likes helping others and I think she will do great with that too. I know she talks to Sandy and her and Spence have to moved to Las Vegas and love it there according to Sandy. In fact when Chrissy went there she introduced Sandy and Spence to my Aunt Carm, my Dad's sister and her husband, Wally, who is from England and they are pretty good buddies now. I need to try to get ahold of Carolyn/Chglenn and Carolyn/Regency and see how they are doing and try to get them to post with us. I miss all of them and hope they come back soon. Hey guys if any of you are reading this, PLEASE come on back to us. WE MISS YOU GUYS SO MUCH!

Synger-It sounds like you had a great time at Harpers Ferry and so did Gem and it sounds like you had a really good food day and exercise day as well when you got home. I checked out the webpage of Harpers Ferry and it looks like a pretty interesting place to go. Glad you had such a good time.

I talked to my SIL, Chrissy just now about bringing Dad back to Michigan. She lives in the Detroit area and so much of Michigan went down with that power outage/blackout. Dad has had a wonderful vacation that's for sure, between going to the cottege on the lake and staying here with us. I will be sad to see him go back. But Chrissy said that it was good that Dad wasn't in Michigan, cause they had that terrible blackout last week. She said no one went to work, she lost all the food in both her refridgerator AND the big freezer downstairs. No phones or cell phones even worked. No business's or restauraunt's were even open or stores for food ect. She said no one could take a shower or drink water, cause the water was contaminated. She just said everyone just opened their windows and sweated. But she said everyone managed, but thank goodness she said Dad was here in Indiana with us so he was resting in the air conditioning watching all his favorite shows on TV. LOL

Well guys, better get off here, we are all going to dinner in Indy with daughter Kelly and some other family members. Either Italian or Mexican, but it will be pretty good, whatever. I will try to be good, but not promising anything. HA HA

Hey one more thing, WHERE ARE YOU CAROL???? CJ Come on back and post with us again. MISS YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love you guys, Sassy Sharon

glinda 08-19-2003 09:10 PM

Hello everyone, I've ended week 2 of south beach and Niles and I have each lost 8 pounds. This new WOE is pretty good so far. Jello everyone remembers you. We all loved your stories and your humor was always warm and funny. Sorry about the surgery. Hope that your booboo is all better now. Synger your little one has such a beautifull name. How did you think of it?? Is that her picture?? Sylvia, how are you feeling?? There won't be any babies in my life till I'm a grandma. Hope that everything is going well. Sharon, I know how you feel about your dad. My dad has decided to stop being a snowbird and move to Florida permanently. I hate to lose him but I do understand. He tells me that now I will have to come down twice a year instead of just in the winter. Sounds like Chrissy will have a great business going for herself. I really admire her strength.Gotta run. Work tommorow. Love Julie

synger 08-20-2003 12:17 PM

Actually, Gem isn't her name. It's her web nick. I don't use real names online. Just a paranoia thing from 'way back. /grin I used to be on Usenet and such, before the Web really took off.

So I feel perfectly comfortable talking about Hunter and Gem and using those names, 'cause those are nicknames and not real names. Synger has been my nick for years!

I figure we'll use "Gem" for her for now, and when she's old enough to do 'Net stuff herself, she can pick her own nick.

aivlys 08-21-2003 02:27 AM

Hello Ladies!

I hope you are all doing well. Thank you all for the good wishes. Motherhood is hard work but, I'm loving every minute of it. I'm sure that will change once Nico is a teenager! Just spent a few days in the Napa Valley...no wine tasting for me, stayed at my parents' house to relax and for my Mom to help us cope with parenthood. The strange thing is that I don't feel tired. I'm getting 3-5 hours of sleep a night but then again, the last month of pregnancy I was having a hard time sleeping. Hmmm, I guess my body was in training for this!

JO!!!!! So nice to hear from you!! I always wondered what happened to you. I know that you had gotten engaged and were going to get married in Scotland...or was it you were going to visit friends in Scotland? Thank you for the good wishes. Glad to know that you were lurking and keeping up with us! Don't worry about feeling sorry for yourself...we all feel sorry for ourselves every once in a while, so you aren't alone. Sorry to hear about your surgery, I hope you feel better.

Baby's crying....must be feeding time, got to run! Will post more later!

Love to all-

Sylvia

ethansmommy 08-22-2003 12:47 AM

CONGRATULATIONS, SYLVIA!!!!

I am so happy to hear that things went well for you. You will find that (chances are, anyway) being a mom is the coolest thing. I totally love being a mom, and I can't imagine my life without Ethan. Nico is a nice nickname! I can't wait to see a pic.

As far as moving, well, let's just thank goodness it's all done with. We are still unpacking some boxes, but I think that most (if not all) of the important things are out and getting used. I am also doing a final combthrough for things that I am going to sell at a yard sale my mom and I are going to have the first weekend of September. I can't wait for that! :)

I have been very tired lately, and hopefully the weeks will fly by in the next couple of months. I am at 29 weeks right now, and will be 30 on Monday. I am not able to bend down a lot or pick up Ethan anymore, so it has been challanging, but nice to rest some.

Glad to see that all is relatively well with the group! I'll be back soon! :D

Chrissy 08-23-2003 08:33 AM

synger 08-26-2003 01:30 PM

So far today is a great day, on the heels (pun intended) of some rather intimidating news. I went to the doctor yesterday, since I have this tendonitis in my left heel and I'm joining a health club in a few weeks. I'm going to be increasing the intensity of my exercise and wanted to be sure she knew about it and I knew how to do it safely. Well, the doctor checked my foot, and looked at the X-rays they did last fall, and said "It's an achilles spur." What? They told me tendonitis last year! Now granted, the X-ray technician had said that she saw a shadow on the plate and wanted to send it to someone else for a confirmation, but I didn't hear anything back so I had assumed the original diagnosis of tendonitis was correct. Now I need to go to a podiatrist to discuss "treatment options." Why is that always such a scary phrase? I'm just getting into this exercise thing on a regular basis. I REALLY don't want to be sidelined for a couple of months with surgery and a cast, before it becomes the normal, ingrained habit I am striving for. /pout

Well, no use worrying about it until I talk to the expert, right? On to other stuff. I was able to walk all five floors of my building (actually, floors 3-7, 'cause they're the only ones that connect all the way around) while hallwalking today. I kept up a good pace, and was even able to carry on a short conversation with a co-worker I met on the way. I had to add it as an entry to my Milestones log, because only a few weeks ago I had to stop between every floor to stretch out my calves, and my pace was SOoooo slow. Now it's a pretty good clip. It used to take me 10 minutes per floor. Now I do two floors in a little less than 15 minutes.

glinda 08-26-2003 09:05 PM

Chrissy how wonderfull to hear from you!!! You have very much been in my thoughts. Hope that you have been able to feel good vibrations all the way from CT.Glad that you and the girls are doing well.Synger the doctors might be able to help a spur with medication or a cortisone shot. Think positive..Niles and I are doing well. This does seem to be working for us. Night all..Julie

CJ 08-26-2003 09:52 PM

Hail Hail the gangs all here!

Sylvia: Once again, congratulations on your beautiful bundle of joy! I'm so happy for you ... like Sharon says tho ... try to rest whenever you get the chance. Kids are wonderful at all ages but there is something so special about a newborn and they don't stay that for very long. They get big before you know it!

I made a special page for Sylvia and Nico on our Thin Group website ... if you enter at the front page, click on Sylvia's Special Page (www.geocities.com/cjlem99/index.html) or here is a shortcut to just the page (www.geocities.com/cjlem99/newbaby.html)

Julie: Welcome back! So good to see you posting with us once again. Sure have missed you girl! Good luck to you and Niles on the South Beach diet ... I have been doing low-carb for the last couple months and am doing fairly well - 12 lbs so far. One good thing for me is that by not eating the starches, sugars, breads I have not had any stomach problems or heartburn!

Jello: Hope you are recovering well from your hysterectomy - get lots of rest and don't try to do too much too soon. How nice of you to think of us and take time out from your new group to stop in and say hello. Please don't be a stranger and post with us more.

Desiree: Nice to hear from you and glad to hear you are feeling well - even tho tired, which is understandable. Glad to hear your move is all done with - and good luck to you on your garage sale. We had one up here at the cabin this summer and it turned out really good.

Chrissy: Wow girl - really glad to hear from you! Sharon always tells me how well you are doing and I'm glad to hear it. Wow, Hawaii too eh? You go girl! Please do stop in and post with us more often ... really glad to see you!

Synger: Happy Birthday - a little late .. sorry. Don't get yourself all stressed out about your heel until you actually know what it is .. like Julie says, think positive and maybe all you will need is medication.

Well, we've been really busy here at the cabin ... tons of company in July - the best was having Sharon and Ken with us for a week!
Then it got even better when our grandkids from downstate came and stayed with us for a couple weeks. And, if that wasn't enough ... my daughter and granddaughter (whom I had not see yet) were in town for a week so got to spend time with them too! She is 2 yrs old, but oh so darn cute and smart! I enjoyed every single second I got to spend with her! Sharon - I sent you pictures, did you get them? We are going home tomorrow for just one day .. then company coming Thursday for the Labor Day weekend ...

Well ... am signing off now ... don't forget to check out Sylvia's page - www.geocities.com/cjlem99/newbaby.html

Sylvia ... am going to try to put a pic of you and Nico on this post .. hope it works.

Talk to you all soon ... keep on posting!

Love, CJ

This is for Sylvia...but check out the webpage for more pics.

Howdy Ladies!

Just popping in for a quick hello. Wow, it's nice to see so much activity in here again! It's especially nice to see some familiar "faces".

The baby is doing well. He had his first doctor appointment today and he has gained 1 pound and grown 1/2 inch in two weeks. Yup, he is growing fast. As for me, I forgot to ask the doctor if I can start going to Curves again. I really need to get in shape (other than round) for my son.

CJ- Thank you so much for the baby page, that is so sweet of you.

I've got to run, baby is hungry! I really need to post right when he's fallen asleep not when he is ready to wake up and be fed! I'm still learning!

Hugs to all!

Sylvia

I guess this is the best area outta any to Introduce myself so what the ****..

I noticed the "male" part of the original post in this thread so I guess I'm gonna jump in now lol..

I'm 24/m.. model.. and I guess it's true.. as you get older and ya eating habits or such.. they WILL catch up to you.. because I've never had a problem with my weight whatsoever and up until recently I'm finding several blemishes with my body which is actually quite depressing and take it's toll mentally on me as well

In a rundown.. I first noticed I'm starting to get stretch marks. I found them under my thighs.. even on backside of buttock. In the upper body.. the "love handles" are there as well as a not so perfect waist - to - mid chest region

I intend on taking care of these problems early on and start getting into a training regime as early as next week. This site looks like a great place for me to keep track of it all and as I'm doing it.. keep people informed/up to date on how the process is working for me

Thanks for listening

GOOD MORNING!

A great big welcome Annex! With all the old women like me posting here, a young male model is sure a breath of fresh air!
All kidding aside, you'll find a lot of support here for your efforts.
Post often and tell us all about yourself so we can get to know you and make you an official member of our little group!

I had my monthly weigh-in at Curves this week. Good news! I've lost 17 lbs. since it opened and I started going to exercise once or twice a week. Just think how well I would have done if I had gone more often! Have to get away from this computer and the quilts I'm making and move this old fat body more!

My grandaughter Allura, was so far ahead of all the other students in her class in Neb. she has been soooo bored since she moved there from Tex. The Principal and others who have the power in the school there, bumped her up a grade. She has skipped the 8th grade altogether and moved right into the 9th grade, and seems to be doing great and loving it! Don't know where my youngsters get all their smarts, must be from me, huh?

Gotta run, the repairman is here to work on my ice maker again. Maybe this time , this repairman will fix it the right way!

Hugs, Judy

CJ thank you for that wonderfull picture of Sylvia and Niko. He is so beautifull and precious. Sylvia hope that you are feeling stronger every day. He is such a wonderfull gift.Annex, Welcome. Visit us often. Judy wonderfull news about Allura. There is a world of differences in maturity between 8th grade and 9th. Peer pressure can be brutal. Good luck to her and congratulations on your weight loss. Way to Go!!!!!!!! Take care all. Julie

Hello Ladies! Oh, sorry Annex....let me start over....

Hello Ladies and gent! :)

I hope you are all doing well. My little on has been sleeping for a bit so I thought I would jump on the computer and pop in for a quick hello before he wakes up. Well, I got the thrill today....went to put on my pre-pregnancy jeans and they are HUGE!!! I can put them on and take them off without undoing the button or unzipping them! :o I just about fainted! I don't know what I weigh as my appointment with the doctor isn't until October 10. My husband had his physical today and I asked him to ask the doctor when I can go back to Curves and workout. She said October ( I don't like that response!). I know about the whole relaxing part but I don't know if I can just sit at home and not do some walking or something! Going to have to work on that. I know I'm thinner now than before I got pregnant...how is that possible? Oh well, I'll take it any way I can!

Judy- CONGRATS on the 17 pounds lost! Keep up the good work! Glad to hear that Allura is doing well with her Mom and in school. You must be very proud at the way your daughter has turned her life around and is doting on Allura.

Desiree-How are you feeling? Try to relax, being pregnant and moving must be exhausting. I'm tired just thinking about it! How many weeks do you have left? Hang in there chickie!

Julie- Thank you for the kind words. I am feeling better each day. Nico is a precious little boy and my husband and I are enjoying every moment. Now if I can only get Nico to sleep through the night....

JO- I hope you are feeling better and getting some rest. Please come back in and post. You are greatly missed!!!

Chrissy-So glad you posted!!! We all miss having you in here! Keep those e-mails coming, you send some very funny stuff and it's always uplifting and a crack up.

Synger- I know it's a bit late but, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!:hb: I hope your foot feels better, and you are able to join the gym. You are doing a great job on those stairs! Keep up the good work!

Annex- Welcome to our little group! You will find that we don't bite;) and are very supportive. Please come in and post when you have a chance.

Miss Sharon- Thanks for getting Chrissy to come in to post! You and Queen CJ are always good at getting those lurkers in here to post! You mentioned that you keep in touch with Gail....how is she? I miss her, I know her Mom passed away and she was having a hard time. Please tell her that I say Hello. She is such a sweet lady(as all of you here in the Thin group are) Oh, I got an e-mail from Sherry and she wanted me to say "hello" to you!

CJ-You are quite the social butterfly aren't ya? Once again thank you for the web page, you are a sweetie! I guess all those guilt trips we subjected the lurkers to paid off! Some familiar names are coming back... Sherry wanted me to say "hello" to you as well.

Well, if I forgot anyone, I'm sorry. Must be the lack of sleep that is imparing my brain function! If I didn't address you, I send you a big hug.

Hugs to you all!

Sylvia

Hi everyone!

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted. The last two weeks have been **** at work. I put in 53 hrs last week, and we are doing 10 to 12 hrs every day again this week. It's HOT, HOT, HOt (upper 90's), and humidity is horrible. The heat and humidity play havic with the ovens and machines, so we have oven "crashes" quite frequently, which means downtime, which means more overtime. We probably will have to work Sat, which stinks because of the holidays! :( pout, pout.

Anyway, because of the heat, better eating, stress, or whatever, I'm down to 182. This is the lightest I've been since before I got married (weighed in the mid to high 180's then). Because it's hot, I have been drinking water, which I normally hate, unless it's ice (and I mean that literally) cold. Still drinking the pop (I admit, I'm a caffeine addict), but drinking lots and lots of water.

Had a great time Sat. Went to Indiana Beach for the day. Company sponsered and paid for it (including free soft drinks, and free lunch). Left Hannah with a sitter, and Chad had to work, so I rode with a girl from work. We rode all but 3 rides at least once (did one roller coaster 5 times), and did the haunted house twice 'cause it was air-conditioned. Some how I ended up in the lead both times, with Angie hanging on to my t-shirt so tight, I thought she would strangle me. Ended up getting the wits scared out of us BOTH times, but loved every minute of it! We forgot our swim suits, so no water park for us. Got sunburned, ate junk food, and spent a small fortune at the gift shop on Hannah and Chad. Probably walked a good 10 miles or so. Came home hot, tired, sore, but enjoyed every minute of it!!

Hannah has started her special needs pre-school back up the beginning of Aug. and is doing great. Hardly ever a bad report. She is talking sooooo much now, we often wonder is she will stop for a few minutes(for anyone who doesn't know, Hannah is midly autistic, so talking was/is a big step for her). The teacher is always commenting on her manners (my BIG pet peeve with kids--no manners), and that just tickles me. It seems for everything she is "slow" on, she is way ahead on other things. She can count to (almost) 30, knows her ABC's, and recognizes them, both big and small letters. She knows her colors and a good 7 or 8 shapes. Put something to music, and it's almost a guarentee (sp?) she will learn it in a few minutes. In just over a week, my baby will be 4!!!! It seems just yesterday I had her :(

Syvia--congratulations on your new buncle of joy! He's beautiful!! You sound like me with the weight and pre-preg. clothes. I was 206# when I got preg. Lost weight, then only gained 10 pounds (211# two days before having her). I lost 23 pounds having her, and weighed 188 at my 6 week check up. Until now, that was the lightest I had been in years. Back into an 18, and loved it. Then went on that birth control shot, and got up to 227. Enough about me. Enjoy your precious baby. They grow up soooo fast--too fast.

Sharon--The song is "Back home again in Indiana." And I thought all hoosiers knew that ;)

Chrissy and Jello--so good to see you to post. I think about you often, just about everytime I get on the computer. Jello-hope you are doing fine after your surgery.

Snoopysgirl--Another hoosier joing the club!! I live in Marion, in north-east Ind. Originally from Arcadia, a small town in Hamilton Co. Where are you from??

Desiree--Glad the move is over. We, too moved when I was preg. I was 7 months, and we moved during a heat wave. 90-100 degree weather, and no one would let me do anything, including pack. I did some unpacking, and it was a mess. My husband just threw things in bags and boxes. I think he even packed trash. We have lived here 4 1/2 yrs now, and there are still things I can't find!!!!

Guess that's all for now. Forgive me for all the others I didn't mention. It's been soooo long since I was last able to get on the 'puter (very slow computer + 12 hr. work days = FRUSTRATION) that I just skimmed through a few posts, or I would be here until this time next year.

I love the web page for Sylvia! So cute!! :)

Things have been going well around here. I really need to get things going in the third bedroom (and the rest of this place, really!) so that I can be ready when baby arrives... so I decided to give FLYlady a chance again. If you don't know who FLYlady is, you can check her (and her methods) out at www.flylady.com. I'm looking forward to having the structure she encourages.

Anyway, I don't think I told you that my glucose test passed, and everything is going swell! I have nine more weeks to go. :dizzy:

Ethan is getting his incisors (sp?) in right now, so he has been having sleeping problems. A lot of nights lately he has been waking up very early in the morning and I have to put him in bed with me. He never used to want to sleep in my bed (I think we trained him too well!), but now he does, and it's kind of nice. :) Makes me all warm in my heart. :D

I have writer's block right now, so I'll finish. I'll update more when I am more awake -- it's been a long day! Happy Labor Day!!!

ethansmommy 09-02-2003 12:16 AM

I'm going to cheat -- ROTFLOL!!!

Hello one and all

Hi everyone

Sam here, long time no talk!

Sylvia, congratulations on the arrival of Nico! And of being skinnier than when you got pg, how on earth did you do that? My baby Josephine is now 1 (can you believe it?) and I'm still about 6 pounds above pre-pregnancy and about 13 above goal. Ah well :) Anyway congrats on Nico, I checked out the photos at the website and he's gorgeous!

Jo, so sorry to hear you had to have surgery - are you recovering okay?

Judy, Sharon, CC, Synger- I went back and read the last few threads quickly, so nice to see so many familiar names! Hope you are all well.

Well I'm doing okay over here down under :) Though I totally need to start getting healthy again. I've been fighting post-natal depression since February now and I think the only way I'm going to come out the other side is to get my energy back. With a 2.5 year old and a 1 year old and working, I definitely need my energy!

Anyway, I'll be back. Hugs to all
Sam
