Good evening gals. It was very windy here today, which kept it chilly even though it did get to 50 today. Only into the 40's tomorrow, but a nice warmup for the weekend.

I am having a heck of a time with the female stuff again so I did some dusting as I cleaned the downstairs thoroughly yesterday except to dust. I just have the upstairs to do so will tackle it tomorrow I hope. I have that biopsy on Friday and I already told Jack I am not going to feel like cooking or even going out. It causes about 3 days or heavy cramping and bleeding after you have this done.

I think I may finish up some Christmas stuff tomorrow and a couple errands instead of trying to do it on Friday after the dr appt. I am more than likely not going to feel like doing anything except come home and take meds and put on the heating pad. I know what happened last time they did this.

Jean: South Bend was getting slammed with more snow today and more tomorrow and I am sure they are sick of it already. My son actually works across the state line in Michigan and they got hit pretty badly so he may have stayed home and worked from there. He is the advertising account supervisor so I am sure he can do as he likes since he can work from home. Try as you might you can't really keep it from happening even if you are careful. Our bank is johnny on the spot about foreign looking charges and if we find something hinky and call they close the card right then and issue another one and overnight it. It was very cold if I remember right and it had snowed. We got married at night on a Saturday and had to leave Indiana first thing Sunday morning and drive 18 hours back to Va Beach so Jack could go to work on Monday evening at 4 PM. We did stop somewhere in Ohio and spent the night if I remember right then drove on it. I hadn't even seen our new apartment. Jack had rented it and rented furniture and everything. It was a cute apartment.

Maggie: So sorry you may not go on your trip, but you have to do what is best for yourselves. We eat at Ihop for Christmas day sometimes too. We take the money we would spend on each other and put it towards our cruises. It is what we enjoy and we have everything we want or need during the year anyway.

Everyone have a good evening. Faye

Thursday & a Very Nice Cool Day

GOOD AFTERNOON IN NOVEMBER MAGNOLIAS ☺♫

I just had my teeth cleaned yesterday and they feel so good. I love going and having that done. My next cleaning will be in 6 months on June 25 of next year. My dentist always has something interesting to talk with me about and we laugh a lot. The hygienist always asks for me as a patient for she likes cleaning my teeth and having a running conversation with me. They say I am welcome to come in and chat anytime and don’t have to wait until my next appointment.

Not much going on here today except the regular cleaning and such. Will is at the museum and I am here “doing.” The mail brought me the Star Wars lighted chopsticks today that I had ordered from Hammacher Schlemmer and now the search is on for batteries. They say Wal*Mart has them so we will go there this afternoon and get some. The batteries will probably end up costing more than the chopsticks did. They are clear plastic material and with the batteries they light up red and have an on-off little push button. They take 8 tiny little watch batteries.

Back later to explain the batteries cost $12 dollars each so we didn't buy any for it takes 8 of them. When I got home I discovered that in the package there were the batteries so my lazer chopsticks work. :cp: I am so thankful that they had included batteries for I was ready to send the chopsticks back. At first when I installed the batteries according to the directions (written by some foreign person) they didn't work so I reversed the batteries and they worked fine. The directions were wrong.

We put small sized bird seed in our feeders this time and those little ones are sure going after it and I can hear them all the way in here all twitter patted. They sure entertain Cecil and I hope he doesn’t bring any in the house today.

DONNA FAYE That sure sounds like quite a process they do to you to put you down so many days. You sure have the problems. I don't really realize what you go through for I never had a cramp. I am one of the lucky ones just skating through the female process. :p I can sympathize with you but not empathize. (That is of course if I used that word properly.) :D

JEAN We just carry our debit cards and don't use the other ones. If someone wants to get money from them they don't get much for we keep them spent down and only put money on them when we want to purchase something. We got wiped out once and that is not a good feeling. Our bank lets us use our card as a charge card if a place won't take a debit card.

Always remember ~ Never, never, never give up

Jean 11-20-2014 02:21 PM

Good Afternoon! The sun is shining so it looks warmer than it really is, as the wind has picked up. It is supposed to warm up by the weekend, so hope the weatherman is right. I'm just thankful we don't live in Buffalo! I can't imagine all that snow. I braved WM this morning in hopes of finding some of the things the grandkids had on their lists. Out of five items, only found one Xbox game, and got a gift receipt for that in case it doesn't work. Then I went to the grocery store which was a madhouse. A lot of their coupons aren't good until tomorrow, but for once I checked the dates before trying to use them. As it was I got $.65 off a gallon of gas for Bob. :cp: Now to sort and put the cans and boxes away.

"Gma," I hope you are feeling better today. :crossed: The weather pattern sure has been crazy! We don't usually get this cold until December or January and then just a couple weeks hovering in the low teens. We never did have our two weeks of very hot temperatures this summer so who knows what the rest of the winter may be like. I'm ready for spring!

Maggie, I only use my debit card here in town, and I can also use it as a credit card. When we are going to be gone I call the credit card company whose card we will be using while gone. Sometimes they will call back the next day to verify I really made the call. Have fun with your new chopsticks! :D

I need to do some laundry and vacuum the fur bunnies. Hope you all enjoy a terrific rest of the day!

gma22 11-21-2014 02:39 PM

Afternoon gals. Quick post as I have been running all over doing errands and I didn't get out of the dr's until 10 and my apt was at 8:40. I was pretty steamed sitting in the patient room for an hour and 15 minutes as I was his first patient of the day and he got to the clinic at 8:45 according to his nurse and he didn't see me until 9:30!!!!

I got the buttons and felt to finish the snowmen, went to Walmarts and got candy to put in the snowmen, bought myself 2 sweaters on clearance for $9 each, went to the post office and stood in line forever to get Christmas stamps, then to Joann's to get the buttons and stuff, then picked up some lunch then home. I have finished lunch and have to get the first laundry load folded so I can put in the second one. I got the dishes put away and balanced my checkbook and paid the bills so I am good to go as soon as I get done here. Have to go get Jack at 2 though.

Maggie: Hopefully your batteries will last a long time! That's a lot of money. Maybe you should check Amazon. I got batteries for this back therapy thing there and they were cheaper than getting them elsewhere. I am done with the biopsy now and hopefully will hear next week what came of it and where we go from here. He is pretty sure he wants to stick me in the hospital for day surgery again to do a d and c and if certain things show up, not cancer but other issues we are going to go forward with a hysterectomy. Today was pretty rough, but it is over now.

Jean: I use my bank card all the time and use my credit card rarely usually I use it for bigger purchases. I keep an eagle eye out when people swipe it as and such but always worry about using it at restaurants so as soon as it we are done and come home I check my bank account and then the following couple days to make sure they didn't steal my account number. What are your gas prices like? I noticed Murphy, which is Walmart gas was $2.47 a gallon this morning. It can keep falling as far as I am concerned.

Have a great weekend gals. Faye

Jean 11-21-2014 10:21 PM

Good Evening! It's been a long day for us. We left this morning for Sioux City to start Christmas shopping. We went to SAMs Club, Penneys, Younkers, Barnes & Noble, Scheels, Kohls, Target, and a friend's house to pick up peanut brittle Bob's hometown church makes every year. I got a few things crossed off my list but need some more ideas from the grandkids. Kolby wants a baseball bat and they start at $200 up to $400+! He's getting one from Target for $25. We didn't get home until after 6 and I'm thinking bed is looking pretty inviting.

"Gma," did you say anything to the doctor about having to wait so long? That is just rude imo! I hope the biopsy comes back normal, or whatever it is supposed to be. Our gas has been $2.70 for a few days now. Sioux City was $2.58 and I was surprised as usually we are lower. It will be interesting to watch the snafu going on in Washington after O's two cents worth last night. :dizzy:

Hope you all have had a good day and enjoy a relaxing weekend!

gma22 11-22-2014 07:11 AM

Good morning to you all. Not too bad here this morning. The furnace didn't even kick on. We are hanging at home today and I am going to dust and vacuum upstairs and that's it. I am so sore in my hips from being spread out on that table for so long I can hardly walk. Stinks to be a woman sometimes.

I am going to try and get some knitting done today and finish it up. I keep stalling putting that toe in his sock, but I need to get it done so I can block them and dry them then wrap them. I am buying his cot next week so when it comes that's it for Thomas. He isn't getting a lot this year, but his cot is over $200. Jackson's stuff is supposed to be here today so I should drag down the paper and get it wrapped up so I can ship it, but knowing me I will procrastinate since I hate wrapping stuff so much. I may just have Jack haul it upstairs and do it upstairs as my big table is still sitting in the spare bedroom from vacation. It would be easier that way than wrangle the stuff on the floor in the living room.

I bought the girls each these pretty cotton scarves for Christmas. The money goes to feed Veterans in need. I bought them each a small xmas candle in some Christmas smell that will go in the snowman. I also ordered each family a cute personal ornament and bought a bunch of candy to go in the snowmen plus their gift cards. I found soft drink flavored and life saver flavored candy canes so bought those instead of peppermint ones which no one ever eats. The soft drink are root beer and orange soda and a couple others I don't remember. I bought Jackson a big Christmas Pez tube full of Pez stuff and Thomas a little bag of Lindor truffles since he is older.

I ordered myself two pairs of canvas Keds last night so I hope they fit. For some reason closed toed shoes have been giving me problems tearing up the bottom of my feet. Part of it is being flat footed the loafer/moccasin style I wear my feet slide back and fort and create friction and they don't do that in sandals. Can't be wearing sandals in winter and I used to buy Keds all the time when Payless used to sell them years ago. Price is a lot higher as I had to pay $40 apiece for them and I used to get them for $10. I got a basic white pair and a navy blue pair because the black ones I wanted were out of stock until March and by then I plan to be back in sandals.

Jean: You had a whorl wind trip sounds like yesterday. I hate shopping in stores. I was in Walmart yesterday and it was nuts.

Everyone have a great Saturday. I have to go out and unlock the gate so they can deliver the stuff from Target sometime today I hope. Never know with our post office. Faye

Jean 11-22-2014 03:06 PM

Good Afternoon! We got up to fog and it's still cloudy and gloomy. It has warmed up to 43 degrees so most of our snow is gone again. We have quite a few leaves left on one tree and our yard is covered with leaves again. Bob is hoping for them to dry so he can bag them. If not, they will be there in the spring. I've been doing laundry and matching gift receipts with Christmas gifts. I write the names on them so the moms don't have to do the searching. Ian turned 12 yesterday so have birthday gifts to wrap for him. We will see them the first part of December to celebrate.

"Gma," I hope you get your knitting done. Will's afghan will get delivered when we go over for the kids' "holiday" concert. It's going to be held in a church that just built a huge addition. I'm positive there will be nothing to identify it as a church, just a cement block auditorium. Beth attends that church and we have been there a couple times. I was checking Lego prices on Amazon this morning, they were all cheaper than Target, free shipping for orders over $35. :tantrum: I checked at WM and they didn't have any of the sets I bought. Our WM toy selection was pretty skimpy I thought, and geared more to younger kids and babies. Hope you get your items from Target today.

We ate a late breakfast, and Bob is digging through the refrigerator looking for something for lunch. Guess I should go supervise. Lots of leftovers since we were gone yesterday. Hope you all enjoy a relaxing day!

gma22 11-23-2014 06:40 AM

Good morning to you all. It is pleasant in the house this morning and no furnace so it must have stayed warmer last night. I know my feet didn't get cold and I didn't need an extra blanket.

I got the stuff from Target and am just waiting on his tshirts now. I am going to wrap stuff the first of the week and get it into a box to ship to them. I am still waiting on Alicia's scarf though before I can ship it.

Today is commissary day so I wonder how nuts it will be seeing as how it is the last weekend before Thanksgiving. I am buying stuff to make caramel
corn and marshmallow corn and am going to send some with the Christmas stuff. I will let you know how it turns out as I have never made either! :D

Thomas has a band concert Dec 9 UGH! Now that he is in high school of course it is in their auditorium and not the huge church. The seats are very uncomfortable and the dope who is the band director flies by the seat of his pants and is totally unorganized. The last one we went to was on the day we got home from vacation. My leg was all swelled up, we were tired and this boob took forever to change different bands and ensembles, at least 15-20 minutes between. We gave up and left before it was over. Kelly said they didn't get out of there until after 9:30 PM and they hadn't had dinner. So I told Jack we were sitting in the back and leaving if it was too drawn out. I hate to do that, but Thomas only played in the beginning and not in any of the other stuff.

Everyone have a nice Sunday. I am going to start addressing Christmas cards. Faye

Jean 11-23-2014 12:07 PM

Good Morning! It's a gloomy day, and misting, in my corner of the world, BUT it's 50 degrees outside! It's a lazy morning at our house; we've had breakfast and read the papers. Today is "pledge" Sunday at church with one service which would be the band and praise singers. We should have gone last night and neither one of us thought about it until it was too late. I need to pick up the clutter, start another load of laundry, and wrap Ian's birthday gifts.

"Gma," hope the commissary wasn't too crazy today. Our two grocery stores are super busy when the welfare checks come out. :dizzy: I usually manage to get behind someone using "free" food stamps while the husband/boyfriend pays cash for the beer and cigarettes. :hyper: Maddy has her first band concert the 16th and Ian's is the 4th. I know Ian's is in the gym and we will sit on bleachers. They do set up folding chairs but then we can't see him nor he us. Maddy's is at school too, but I'm not sure if her grade school or high school. The high school has an auditorium so nicer seating.

I better get a move on or it will be lunchtime and I won't have gotten anything done. Hope you all enjoy your day!

gma22 11-24-2014 05:58 AM

Good morning ladies. Woke up at 3:45 to go to the bathroom so decided just to stay up. I imagine a nap will happen around noon or so. It is warm this morning as I have one of the fans on downstairs. It isn't going to last though.

Well they caught the trash that has been robbing people around here and they caught them a half block from my house. Scary. They have been going into apartment complexes and watching for people getting out of their cars to carry in groceries or get the mail or whatever and they stick them up with a gun and rob them. There were three of them and I suspect the good Samaritan who lives here in our complex got robbed by these three. I told Jack that when we pull into the garage to close the garage door immediately and not wait until we get out of the car. Brother the crime in this city is awful.

Got my commissary shopping done. It was super nuts. Lots of customers, Thanksgiving/Christmas stuff stacked in the aisles (ie like stuffing, stuff to bake with, those throw away pans for turkeys, stuff like that) and some genius decided it would be smart to restock yesterday. It was a total mess. You then went to check out and there were two cashiers. I mean for heaven's sake it is the last weekend before the holiday, which is all about food for the most part so duh put on more cashiers.

Jean: I saw an article in our online tv station talking about people here using their ebts to buy wigs and hair pieces and stuff like that. I don't know how they get around it, but it was this long article about food stamp abuse. They need to trash the whole thing and only give them to people who already have a job and can't make ends meet, do not increase the amounts for more and more kids, whatever you have when you apply is what you get, go back to giving food instead of letting them buy whatever the heck they want, etc. I wish they would just throw out the whole thing but then who am I to be such a Grinch? We lived at poverty level the whole time Jack was in the Navy. It was awful and no one gave us food and such. The only thing we got was reduced prices for school lunches and that was only for Kelly who was in elementary school. We could have used the help, but we trudged along best we could not asking anyone for handouts.

Everyone have a good week this week. I am going to finish the other snowman today and get that darn sock done! Faye

Jean 11-24-2014 03:35 PM

Good Afternoon! It's very, very windy and so cold outside today. Lazy snowflakes have been falling off and on but nothing is accumulating on the ground. Not much money to count at church this morning but had a good deposit for the gift shop. Think I will wrap the Christmas gifts we bought, and make a list so I don't forget which is what and for who.

"Gma," glad to see the "bad" guys were caught. I hope they end up in prison instead of getting a slap on the wrist and probation. I read in the paper where they think all welfare receivers should be spot drug tested. They would probably argue about their "rights" but I'm sure tired of supporting them.

I'm off to turn the furnace up some more! Hope to see Maggie and Susan soon; it's been too quiet here. Enjoy the rest of your day and keep warm.

Maggie 11-24-2014 11:50 PM

Marvelous Monday

GOOD AFTERNOON IN NOVEMBER MAGNOLIAS ☺♫

I realize I have been absent but I don’t have much to say. Will had his Chemo treatment today so now he has only one more to go.

I got the neatest Bonsai catalogue and am thinking on getting one to put in the MH. Plants are good to have for they clean the air. The one that I really think is cute is the Ponytail Palm which will only get 10 – 16 inches tall. They are low maintenance and thrive in low light conditions and require infrequent watering and feeding. The kit comes with a moisture enhancing humidity try and favorite Bonsai fertilizer along with the potted palm. It can reside on our dining room table next to a curtained window with the alaverda plant.

DONNA FAYE Sounds like you live in a very dangerous neighborhood which is getting worse than better. I hope no one breaks into your place when you are gone.

JEAN Sounds like winter has landed in your neck of the woods.

Always remember ~ Never, never, never give up

gma22 11-25-2014 07:42 AM

Good morning to you all. It is quite chilly here this morning. Jack wore a lined zip up sweatshirt with a hood and put a heavy jacket over it. Our temps are going to bounce around a lot in the next few days but at least we are supposed to have nice weather on Thanksgiving.

Kelly dislocated her knee pretty badly in Florida on a business trip and now is in one of the heavy braces so her knee can't move. They are leaving for Indiana tonight after T gets off school so she may have a time of it traveling. I told her not to sit too long in the car but I she says she can't move the knee so.....

I need to address Christmas cards today, finish knitting and getting the snowmen done and make the caramel corn and marshmallow corn. We shall see how much I get done today. Feels like a lazy day. I do need to run the vacuum again in the living room as stuff has gotten tracked in. I will be so glad when my floors are done and I can just run a wet mop over them or whatever.

Jean: Several states are trying to implement drug tests and I know of at least 3 who now require them to have a job or prove they are looking. Of course that is no guarantee if you get a lazy person doing the intake and not properly checking it out. Where did you say you guys are going to go this year for Thanksgiving??

Maggie: Bonsai trees are lovely I think. I am sure Will will be glad to have them done and over with and I hope they succeeded in helping him out.

Everyone have a great day today. Faye

Jean 11-25-2014 02:05 PM

Good Afternoon! The sun is shining and Bob said it felt warmer coming home for lunch than when he left this morning. The TV said it was -4 wind chill early. :brr: I need to go to the grocery store for apples to make a Snickers salad for Thursday. Also need to stop at church and pick up a Butter Braid. :T The kids sold them for a fund raiser and they were to be delivered yesterday. The dishwasher is humming away and I'm sure I could round up some laundry to do.

Maggie, it was nice to see your post. :cp: A Ponytail Palm sounds interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a catalog from Bonsai. I'm glad Will is on the countdown with his treatments. Hope he is feeling good today.

"Gma," I hope Kelly isn't in a lot a pain with her knee, and can enjoy her trip to Indiana. Not a fun thing to happen I'm sure. We are going to my "sister's" for Thanksgiving, and they usually come here for Christmas. Her daughter is being married in California in January. She is a different kind of a gal and hasn't gone with the guy for very long. I was told it would be a very small wedding; lo and behold we got an invitation yesterday. It just gives an address, no church or hotel name so I have no idea if it's a park, the beach, or what. The older daughter got married a week after Jason and Amanda; we weren't invited as it was another very small wedding, but an hour away from us. We were committed to another wedding so that was ok. Bob said we could go if I wanted. I really don't want to but am trying to think how to get out of it gracefully.

I need to get a move on and head to the store. Hope you all are enjoying a nice day.

Jean 11-26-2014 02:21 PM

Good Afternoon! It has been snowing off and on all morning. We got up to about 3" (Bob's guess); he blew the driveway and cleared the patio and deck. By the time he left all were covered again. I'm guessing there's another inch at least. The side streets are slippery while the main streets are just wet. This was my morning to work in the gift shop and I sold quite a few things :cheer: for a nice change of pace. We had quite a few lookers, and buyers, over the lunch time while the gal was trying to do the paperwork and pull the day's money. Both the coffee shop and gift shop will be closed tomorrow and Friday, so I brought the money home with me. Will do the paperwork and deposit money on Friday.

I need to change clothes and get busy. I was going to run some errands but decided to stay home because of the crazy drivers in this town. A large majority have no driver's license, no insurance, and have never driven in snow -- a good chance for an accident waiting to happen. :hyper: Hope you all enjoy the rest of your day!
