Just Chit Chat # 1
Welcome everyone,
We are a group of women who support each other through all of life's ups and downs, not just weight loss. Won't you join us? Woo Hoo!!! Here we are with our new place!! First of all, let me say my DGD does not have spinal meningitis or the problem with her kidneys other than a possible UTI. BUT, we still don't know what is making her spike a temp... they are going to draw more blood in the AM and see if the while cell count is down. She is so miserable ..... Thank you for the prayers. I forgot to check in at the last thread before I started this, to see what everyone else is up to, so forgive me for no individual posts, okay? The food is under control, but I haven't had enough water since I've been at the hospital so much. I promise to drink more tomorrow. BBL, Jana |
Wow
Nice little corner we have here!!
I went to lunch with three ladies I used to work with and I was going to mention this place to them and we got so busy with catching up that I completely forgot! I will have to e-mail them. Jana- Still thinking of your little one. Just hang in there. I'll keep my fingers crossed that everything turns out just fine. I would like to talk more, but I spent time on the bio and sitting upstairs in the heat is getting to me. I will post tomorrow. Hope all goes well with your GD. Marti |
This is so cool, having our own little corner!
Wasn't sure if I should post here or at the other thread. Jana, I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and send some good vibes for your precious DGD and hoping every thing is fine. :goodvibes: :goodvibes: :goodvibes: Hi Marti and everyone else. I didn't do so good with the eating today but I did get in a walk, a little over 5 miles and boy am I tired! I also managed to get my water down so I guess 2 out of 3 is not so bad. I went over my points but not by much. I will do the bio tomorrow for sure. Just too tired for a long post right now. I do plan on turning in early so I will see you ladies tomorrow. :dz:  Hope everyone had a good day. Later ladies... |
Just had to ask: What's a sticky??
Also, are the recipes something you created or found somewhere that you really enjoyed and want to share? (they also have to be weight friendly right?) Questions ,question......sorry. Marti |
Good morning ladies,
Marti - a sticky is a thread that stays at the top of the page, kind of like a post-it, it stays where you put it. That way, it doesn't leave the main page. As for the recipes, I don't think it matters what kind you post, as long as it is labeled as such. BTW, I look forward to meeting your friends! The first thing I did was bookmark this place, too. :high: Cristi - You are doing well with the exercise and water - to quote Meatloaf "2 outta 3 ain't bad". :D Hi also to Kat, Michelle, Kayecee, Mel, Carree, Ruth, Angie, Ricci, and anyone I may have missed. Kayecee - did you get lost at the mall? Please post so we know all is well! Thanks to all of you for asking about Makenzie. After they take the blood today and see what the white blood cell count is, she may be on a 7-10 day antibiotic IV drip. It is so sad - when she sees someone enter the room who isn't family, she hangs her head and cries because she knows they are going to stick something somewhere. It absolutely breaks my heart! Please say prayers that all she has is a UTI and that it is much better! Btw, she is the only child on the unit so they let us take her twin, Madison, in to visit Makenzie yesterday. They hugged and kissed each other~ it was very touching! I have to tackle Mount Washmore today and go to the hospital in between. It is my grocery shopping day, but I don't know when I'll get there. What's everyone else doing today?? Jana |
Hi everyone!
Jana----- So sorry to hear about your DGD, I hope everything goes well today. It's so hard to deal with when a little one is ill. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers and thoughts. Marti--- I have to agree with you about the Trading Spaces cast. Have you read the Trading Spaces book yet? I borrowed it from my neice, it is really interesting to read their bios. They also give a few tips on decorating in the book. Hi to everyone else, come on in and join us! I haven't been doing very well staying OP, I just don't have time anymore, between working outside the home, which I haven't done in over 2 years, helping our friends get their rental property ready and everything else I have to get done I don't have time to cook anything for dinner so it's usually either take out or grab what you can when you can. I have been drinking LOTS of water, tea and juice though, it's been so darn hot here. Hopefully everything will settle down here real soon and I can get back OP. Haven't weighed in for over 2 week and I'm really worried that when I do I'm going to hate myself for the way we've been eating. I'm off to paint more. Ta ta, Mel |
Hi again!!!!!!!
Just had to share, I finally got up the nerve to get on the scales again, instead of gaining like I thought I had over the last 2 weeks I lost 5 more pounds!!!!!:cb: :bravo: I had to get back on the scale a couple times to make sure I wasn't seeing things. I almost fainted when I realized it was true! Ta ta Mel |
Hi Ladies,
Ahhhh, Jana, that is so sweet. I'm glad they let her twin go to the hospital to visit her. She must have been wondering where she is and if she is okay. They always say twins have a special bond unlike brothers and sisters and I must say I have seen that in my nieces. They are so totally different, like day and night but they are so very close to one another. It's sweet to see them playing together. I feel for your dgd, your dd and you. It is so hard to see your little one sick and in the hospital, poor baby, my heart goes out to your family and I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. Mel, WTG on your loss! :bravo: for 5 pounds gone! See, you didn't do as bad as you thought you may have. You may be eating out, but you are definitely getting a workout with working on the house and sweating. I have done good today, staying OP, and did a 4 mile walk early this morning so I am feeling pretty good today. I did my errands this morning and now I have the rest of the day to do nothing, well I may read some more and I need to vacuum but that is about it. Everyone have a good day. I am off to do the bio. :) |
Wow! Look at us here with our own little space. Dont you just feel special?
Jana, Im so sorry to hear about your DGD. Its good that they let her sister in to see her. Poor thing, I hope with all my heart that she gets better soon, and that theres nothing seriously wrong with her. Ive been slacking in every way. No water, no exercise and I had a chocolate bar! Im so ashamed. Actually, other than that, my eating hasnt been all that bad. Im finding that I dont eat as much when its hot. I just kinda lose my appetite. Thats why I like smoothies so much in the summer. Theyre cool and refreshing and yummy! Plus I get a serving of fruit and yogurt. I dont know why weve been slacking on the gym so much. Its been strange. Hubby doesnt bring it up, and neither do I, so we just dont end up going. I know were both thinking about it...but avoiding it. I dunno if its too hot, or were tired, or just plain lazy. I gotta give the man credit though...he works 10 hour days and starts at 4:30 am. Then he has a second job on his days off. I have signed up for some business courses starting next month, and in October Im going to a seminar in South Carolina. Im going to do everything I can to make my business work. Thank you to everyone for all your great encouragment after my last post. Well, I think Ill go fill in my bio. Take care lovely ladies! Michelle |
Mel,
I skipped your post somehow. Congratulations!!!!!!!!!! Five whole pounds! Okay, Im inspired again......... |
Mel- What wonderful news!! 5lbs. :hat: :bravo:  I'm doing a little happy dance for you!!! Isn't it amazing when we think the worst and then we get the happy news of pounds lost?? I'm so happy for you. Hearing others experiences truly gets me going you know?? Of coarse, I don't see myself heading out the door to go to the gym.....
Michelle- I feel exactly the same as you. When it gets to hot out, your motivation to go to the gym just goes out the window. The idea of sweating on purpose when I'm already sweating doesn't appeal to me. I know that's a poor attitude, but that how I've been lately. Plus, we put our membership on hold. I know that's not an excuse to get in some kind of workout, but I think I'm doing pretty good with all this house work. Which by the way is looking fantastic! The floors are getting put in and the wallpaper in the kitchen got started. It looks amazing compared to when we started. I was told we should be able to move in by next week!!!:cp: :hat: I also agree with not eating as much in this heat. I'm not sure what the weather is like where you are all at, but it's been hot here in Oregon. And we're the rainy state!! But for the eating, my sweetie decided to get some sandwhich makings for us so I could at least eat something. All good stuff. He made sure he bought turkey for me while he got himself some Roast Beef. I love that guy. And he bought veggies to pile on it! I coudn't have asked for anyone better! I have been doing really good with the water lately. But I have to admit, that something must have been on my mind today because I usually grab my big bottle of water to take to school and I left it in the car all day. By the time I was out, I could have taken a bath with that water!! (soo hot) Jana- I hope you have some good news about your DGD. Been praying that she'll get better. By the way, thank you for letting me know what a sticky was. I'm learning. Did you get rid of the recipe thread?? Well I should get myself a sandwhich. I'm actually feeling a little hungry. More thirsty than anything. I hope all are doing well. Hope we hear from Kayecee and Tonya and all the others that I haven't quite got the names down yet, once they find this little corner of ours. Marti |
Hi Ladies,
Mel - :cp: :cp: WAY TO GO!!!! See, you're doing MUCH better than you thought. And you have been so busy - getting used to a new job and all the other things in your life, too. Maybe you could use the crock pot some of the time for a good home-cooked meal. I use mine a lot so the kitchen doesn't get so hot. Cristi - hey, come on over with that vacuum! My dust-bunnies are multiplying! The twins are different too, but so close! They have already started their own "twin speak". Michelle - are you excited about the business course? I would be! My DH is a professor at the local college and I used to take classes there. I loved getting out of the house and feeling like I was improving my mind. Too bad I didn't retain a darn thing, lol. What kind of seminar are you going to? I assume it's business related.... Marti - we eat lighter when it's this hot, too. Tonight we had chicken tacos. And I eat a Skinny Cow every night after dinner. I don't share them, either. BTW, the recipe thread is still there.... Well, here's the latest on Makenzie. She is on a new, stronger antibiotic, and they are going to take her blood tonight and twice tomorrow to see how it is working. The poor little thing looks like a pin cushion. And to top it all off, Son-in-law is scheduled for a vasectomy tomorrow bright and early. And they don't dare put that off! So DD is feeling pulled in all directions, and here she is, almost 7 months pregnant! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR THE KIND WORDS AND PRAYERS. I can't tell you how much it means to me that you guys, who I have never even met, are pulling for my little sweetie. You guys are the BEST!! Once again, I didn't get nearly enough water today. I'll try to do better tomorrow. TTFN, Jana |
Hi folks--I'm sorry to hear about the sick little peanut. I'll send good voo-doo her way :)
(Hoping that doesn't offend anyone--its an expression.) I was on a mini-eating binge yesterday, but not too badly, and I was back on track today. Its hot and I've not wanted to eat much, so I'm now down to 211ish--hooray! I really REALLY want to see under 200 sometime soon. I also want to see my waist go down--its at 43" right now--down an inch since my highest weight of 230. |
Right now I'm gearing up for two things: my eldest is taking der driver's license road test on Monday, and the same child is flying (by herself!) to New Mexico on Tuesday. I don't know which I'm more anxious about--she's never flown before and the flight has a layover, so that makes me rather nervous--I don't want anything to happen to her on her layover, or for her to miss her connecting flight.

Hello everyone!
Hope everyone is having a great Friday. I just got done cleaning house. Luckily I didn't have much to do since DH did a bunch while I was at work the other night. All he left me to do was running the sweeper, sweeping and mopping the kitchen floor, wash a few pans and finish the laundry. He is so wonderful about helping around the house while I am working, I have so many friends whose husbands wouldn't lift a finger around the house if their lives depended on it. We sat down last night and figured up how much I would bring home if I take the job at General Mills (manadory 7 days a week, 12 hours a day indefinitely). I think I'm going to take it if they call, we can have our house paid off in a little over a year, then I'll quit and find a job with saner hours. It will be nice if we can get the house paid off 20 years sooner. Kat, Wish your DH good luck on the driving test for me, please. I know you can't help but worry about the flight and layover, but kids are a lot more independant and knowledgeable than most of us give them credit for. Is she going to New Mexico to visit relatives? If it helps ease your mind, depending on how long her layover is, you can always ask that she call you. Congrats on the weight loss!! Isn't it strange how we can "cheat" and still lose weight? Marti We usually eat lighter when it's hot too. Who wants to eat something hot or heavy when it's so miserably hot outside? Jana Hope your DGD is feeling better soon, I'll send some positive thoughts to your DD and DSIL. I know a vasectomy is an outpatient surgery, but is there any way the hospital would let him have a bed in her room after the surgery so he can recuperate? That way your DD could be with both of them. I'm going to get off here, I hear the hot peppers we picked from our garden the other night calling my name, asking me to put them in the dehydrator. Ta ta, Mel |
Hi Ladies
Just something I wanted to share with you ladies. I think we sometimes need to be reminded how special we all are.
:flow1: Some Inspiration Your presence is a present to the world. You are unique and one of a kind. Your life can be what you want it to be. Take the days just one at a time. Count your blessings, not your troubles. You will make it through whatever comes along. Within you are so many answers. Understand, have courage, be strong. Do not put limits on yourself. So many dreams are waiting to be realized. Decisions are too important to leave to chance. Reach for your peak, your goal, and your prize. Nothing wastes more energy than worrying. The longer one carries a problem the heavier it gets. Do not take things too seriously. Live a life of serenity, not a life of regrets. Remember that a little love goes a long way. Remember that a lot...goes forever. Remember that friendship is a wise investment. Life's treasures are people together. Realize that it is never too late. Do ordinary things in an extraordinary way. Have heart, and hope, and happiness. Take the time to wish upon a star. AND DO NOT EVER FORGET... FOR EVEN A DAY HOW VERY SPECIAL YOU ARE! ~by Bill Greer, Chicken Soup for the Veteran's Soul |
Kat, sending some good vibes for you to cope with your dd's driving test and her flight. :goodvibes: :goodvibes: I'm sure she will be fine. I have to say I agree with Mel but at the same time if it were me I too would be anxious. I get anxious when ever they leave the house. WTG on your weigh in!
Jana, I do hope your dgd is doing better, hopefully the new antibiotic will help her. That poor baby, I feel for her. She is never going to want a needle coming near her again. I'm sure you son-in-law will be fine. Both my dh's had a vasectomy and although it was a pretty simple procedure they were a bit sore for a couple of days. Sending ((((((((HUGS)))))))) for your family. Michelle, have fun with the business courses. Mel, I do hope you get that job at General Mills :crossed: :lucky:, but 7 days a week with 12 hour days, I feel for you. That is about what my hubby does most of the time. I also don't care to cook in this eat. It gets too hot in the kitchen and after sweating while cooking I don't even feel like eating afterwards. Like Jana, I too use a crockpot-they are the GREATEST! Anyway, I hope everyone is having a great Friday. I need to get off this thing and try to get something together for dinner, something light for sure. Take care ladies. |
Hello oh jaded ones!!
Kat - :bravo: on the weight loss!! You'll get to Onederland before you know it! Is your kiddo nervous at all about flying and the driver's test? I think she will be just fine - kids today are so street smart! I think my 16yo could do it, too, but I'd worry myself silly! :yikes: Mel - glad your DH helps around the house. Mine does, too, and I don't even work outside the home. But somedays are hairier than others, so we all chip in. I have to say I'd cave under the kind of hours General Mills wants you to work! The money would be great, but wowee, those are some looonnnnggg hours, sweetie. But you know yourself better than anyone else, and if you think it's the thing to do, we will back you 100%!! Cristi - Aww, what I sweet poem!! I am copying it because we are always wanting something like that to read at our church functions. Btw - I have a great Beef Stroganoff recipe. It is not "lite" but I eat what the family eats, just in smaller portions. If you don't already have one, let me know, and I'll post it. Hi to the others... Now for the good news. Makenzie has been fever-free for 24 hours, so they sent her home. :cp: :cp: Thanks to everyone for the good vibes and prayers. Also, DSIL got the snip-snip. He is walking funny and looking for sympathy, but I can't say I blame him. DD22 (Mary) is totally worn out! I know the whole family will sleep a lot better tonight with everyone home under one roof. I hope you guys know that ANYONE can start a new topic! Please feel free to post additional threads about whatever topics you want! I am going to go soak in the tub and I'll talk to you fine ladies tomorrow. Jana |
Hiya ladies,
Kat - I just read your bio and am still chuckling! I forgot about "The Reach"! For those of you who don't know, it is a description of how you run out of arm length in the bathroom when you gain too much weight. Makes certain chores unhandy, to say the least! :yikes: Also, I have to tell you, I have never even heard of the movies you mentioned. This does not surprise me!! I KNEW you would come up with something totally off the wall since you, my friend, are totally off the wall yourself. :D ( I mean that in a good way!) So please share with us more abou the movies, 'k? What's everyone doing today? I am planning to do some scapbooking. The kitchen floor needs mopped but hey, it will still be there, right??? BBL, Jana |
Hi and happy saturday ladies!
Jana, I can tell in your post you seem in better spirits. I am so glad everyone is fine and at home. And yes please do share your recipe for beef stroganoff. My kids love it but I don't make it that often and I too don't fix two different meals I eat what everyone else eats, just smaller portions. Or should I say they eat what I eat. I am dying to try your cake recipe but I don't normally bake cakes unless it is a special day, birthday or holiday. Kat, I loved your bio also, and I too have never heard of those movies and believe me I watch A LOT of movies! Jana you reminded me I NEED to get some done on my dd's scrapbook. I am making one for each of the kids and started hers but have a ways to go. Hmmmm, maybe we can do that today. I don't have any plans today, except laundry and hopefully a walk on the treadmill. I woke up with a horrible crick in my neck and my lower back is killing me for some reason so we will see about the walk. Hope everyone has a great day today! |
If you get a chance, by all means check out those films--they are wonderful. Powow Highway is a coming of spiritual age film but might be harder to find, as it is from the early 80s. Rabbit Proof Fence is a fairly new release, but its an independent film and may be a little hard to find because of that. Interlibrary Loan may be a good way to get both of them and has the plus of being free.

That will tell you about powwow highway. :) My kids loved it when they were tiny and would stop crying or fussing and sit there riveted to the screen for the entire duration of the film. We must have watched it hundreds of times. |
Hiya ladies,
Cristi - Hope your neck and back are better today. And I'll post the Beef Stroganoff recipe soon. Kat - thanks for the film info! They both sound really interesting. I am so embarrassed and angry. My DH's sister, her husband and a niece from a different sil were here earlier to get produce and visit. (We haven't seen these people since Christmas.) While we were all outside enjoying the summer day, my DD and son-in-law come outside, (they live very close) cussing up a storm and fighting. He was going to leave, but she wouldn't let him take her SUV. They both were screaming at the tops of their lungs. And saying effen this and effen that... and when they saw all of us, they still behaved that way!!! I apologized to our company, and asked them to knock it off. My DD told me to mind my own effen business. I think she owes me and her dad a real big apology. Don't you? Or should they be able to act the way they want at their own home? BBL, Jana |
Jana- Oh what a situation to be in! My opinion is yes to both. Yes, they should be able to do and say what they want at their own house, but they should also apologize for making a scene once they realized that they weren't alone! Plus, you should always show respect and not curse out your parents. If anyone they're the ones who should be embarrassed.
I remember a time (about 10yrs. ago) when my ex-husband and I were at a New Years party and we got into a fight. A big loud one, and everyone there just listened. The next day, I felt so ashamed (alcohol will make you stupid!) that the both of us went to every persons house to apologize! I felt very embarrassed having to do that, but I also wanted them know what I fool I had been. Needless to say, we NEVER did that again. We're also no longer together!:D I hope things are better for your DD and SIL. I was browsing around earlier and found a picture that Tonya posted of herself. She's such a beauitful girl!! And I really can't see where she needs to lose the weight. She looks great!! I posted again on the support forum to remind everyone that we had moved. And to let Tonya know that I saw her picture. I am always afraid to post my pictures. I never feel comfortable when I'm having my picture taken, so finding one that I think looks decent is a chore for me. Maybe if I can find the one that was taken at our last company holiday party I will post that. That was when I was only 10lbs away from my goal. And I felt fabulous. Can't wait to get to that point again!! Have any of you girls posted a picture of yourself yet?? If so, where would I go to see them?? It's always nice to put a face to the name. But I also understand keeping in private. I'm going to think about whether I want to post one or not. (have to find the picture first) Hope everyones weekend is going nicely. I've started packing. And oh there is soooooo much packing!!! Wonder how many trips to the Goodwill and the dump I will be making!!! Take care Marti |
Hello everyone!!
Jana Yes, youd DD & SIL owe you and your company an apology, yes, they have a right to talk anyway they want in their own house and I stress inside, the world does not need to know they are fighting and what they are fighting about. I hate when we can hear our neighbors fighting. Every couple fights now and then, but it should be like sex, in the privacy of your home not out where everyone can see it. BTW, glad everyone is feeling better! Marti I'm with you on the picture, I hate having my picture taken (always have) and don't know if I can find any good ones. I feel for you on the packing. When we bought our house I wouldn't even want to count how many trips I made to Goodwill or how many trash bags I set out at the curb of stuff that was just crap. I agree with George Carlin, when your house gets full, just move, you can always get more stuff. I keep telling DH that if we move again, whoever buys our house gets furniture and all and if he doesn't move quick enough they might get him too  The only thing I want to take is our pets. Cristi Hope you start feeling better soon. Hope everyone has a good Monday. Ta, Mel |
Question here!
I went to see what it was all about by pushing the "subscribe to this forum" and it just said...you are now subscribed to this forum. What did I do? What does that mean? Please explain this to me..... is this something we have to pay for??? Sorry for not knowing... and for just pushing on buttons! I thought it would bring up some page of some kind to explain. Can someone help explain? Marti |
Happy Monday Ladies!
Marti - no, you will not be charged for subscribing to a thread. This means you will get an email notice when someone replies to any thread to which you subscribed. To read more about it, click on FAQ (frequently asked questions) at the top of the page. Look under the email section. Mel - I love your (and George Carlin's) idea of moving when the house gets full!!! :D :D :D Although I am NOT a packrat, stuff that you just gotta keep sure builds up! Regarding pictures, I would post mine, but decided against getting a digital camera right now. the one I want is buku bucks. I'd love to see all of the Jaded Ladies faces. :) I don't mind my picture taken because my mom thought she was too fat to get in any pictures. Now she is gone and we have so few! I vowed that I wouldn't do that to my family, and after all, we look the same whether it's on a photo or not! Thank you both for the input on the DD/SIL blowup. We haven't heard a word from either of them since it happened...... I'll let you know what was said when we do. Marti - you behaved very responsibily to apologize to everyone when you had a similar situation. Have a good day and I'll check in later. Jana PS I almost forgot to mention my 1/2 pound loss this week. Not much, but I'll take it! It's like 2 sticks of butter, right? :D |
My, my, my! I am once again so behind in all of the activity on this board. Jana, who would have thought that just be changing our name, we would have all of this wonderful company?
Jana, my thoughts and prayers for your sweet granddaughter. Lots of stress, but God is in control of everything. That sure is one lesson that I had to learn the hard way. Saw a really great film this weekend, "Seabiscuit". It was so good that my DH and I would see it again and actually pay to see it again! Love, carree |
Hi Ladies!
Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a fun filled weekend! Mine was quiet, and mostly filled with dog training, and business research. To answer your question Jana..Yes! I am very excited about the business courses. Ive always loved taking classes, but its been a while. The last one I took was a public speaking course. That was a tough one for me, but well worth it. Im not much of one for standing up in front of a crowd. The course taught me alot, and helped me out with that. Im thinking about taking pet first aid, and some training and grooming classes over the next few months. Congrats once again on the loss! As far as your DD and SIL, I absolutely think they owe you an apology. Mostly for her telling you to "mind your effen business". No one should ever speak to their mother like that, and ESPECIALLY in front of guests. I know its hard not to be, but they should be embarassed instead of you. I'd love to see pics of all of you. Trust me, nobody here cares about "bad pictures". Thats the good thing about this place. You can come here and just be yourself. I guarantee that no one on this board is going to judge you. I was thinking it might be a good idea to start a seperate thread especially for photos, so it doesnt clog up this thread. I know some of you (Jana) have a hard time with hard to load threads. If thats okay with everyone Ill start a new thread just for pics. Hi to everyone else....did we lose a few people in the move?? It occured to me that maybe we could start our own talk show. All of us sitting around a table just talking. We could call it "The Reach". :chin: Take care ladies! Michelle |
Hello ladies,
Carree - You know, when a couple of lurkers thought The Featherweights was a group who had only a few pounds to lose, that's what clued me in! And boy oh boy do I have a lot to lose!!Like you, I think it's cool that our new name helped bring in some new friends! Seabiscuit is a movie we talked about going to see, too. But we always think we're going, then end up renting them on DVD or PPV. Thanks for recommending it. Michelle - OMG - The Reach!!! HOW HILARIOUS!!! I get to sit in Star Jones' chair! You can be Meridith Veirra (sp??) We can use the Charmin bathroom tissue commercial music for our theme song.....:D BTW, when do classes begin? Also, do you want me to sticky the photo thread? Kat - see what you started????? LOL Hi also to Marti, Angie, Cristi, Kayecee, Mel, and Ruth. Took DD16 (Katie) to get her hair trimmed and highlited today. It was 84.50 before the tip (another 10.00) but it looks really good, and has given her more self-confidence. Highlites to hair - 69.50 Trim to same hair - 15.00 Katies ego boost - priceless! :D :D :D It's getting wild in here, so I better go for now. BBL, Jana |
Hi Ladies,
You ladies crack me up! I love the humor on this thread. Jana, I have to agree witht he others about your dd & sil. It may have been their house but when company is around they should take it elsewhere and she shouldn't have told you to mind your business. They definitely owe you an apology. Good for dd-16, I bet she is beautiful! A new do always makes me feel better about myself too, and I am in desperate need of one. I can't just yet though. I have been growing my hair out for Locks of Love and have to have 10 inches to send them and I have a few inches to go unles I want to go butch. WTG on your loss! :high: :bravo: So how are you liking your new bracelet? I bet it is simply gorgeous on your wrist. Marti, I too saw the photo of Tonya and thought she was gorgeous! And definitely don't see where she needs to lose. I haven't posted any photos of myself, too leary. Actually, I am waiting for a good one. I had taken some and was not pleased with them at all so I have a partial roll of film to finish off and hopefully some will be fine. Otherwise it will be November when we have our Christmas photo taken, for some reason they always seem to turn out really nice. Michelle, where/how do you get a site with yahoo to post the photos like you have? That definitely would save space here, of course I don't know that I would post more than 2 or 3. I haven't checked anything out except to look at your photos which are great by the way. Hi to everyone else. I hope you all had a great day and have a better one tomorrow. See ya later ladies... |
My eldest donated her hair to a local prgram that provides wigs to Vermont children with cancer--she thought it neat that she might someday run into someone wearing her hair. :D

I was wondering the same thing Cristi was about the photos on yahoo. That would really save space. I've been telling my daughter that I would go in and have photo's done with her for Christmas for the last two, maybe three years and I still haven't done that. And you know what she finally told me this spring??? She said: "Mom, I don't care how you look, you always look beautiful to me, you're my mommy." How can I not go in this year??? Brought a tear to my eye! She is my inspiration! And she is only 9!
When I had long hair, I had thought about "locks of love" but I couldn't cut it all at once. I had to do it in stages. But looking back, I sure wish that I had. It's a wonderful thing. I've noticed looking back at some of my heavier days with long hair, that I really didn't do much with it. It brought me down you know what I mean? Almost like I was hiding behind it all. And once I cut it to the length that I really enjoy, which is just below my ears, I have more confidence in myself! You wouldn't think that hair would do that! Well, I e-mailed a few of my friends about this site and I'm hoping they'll join in on the fun. (we do have fun here right?) I explained to them that it's like family and everyone is so caring, friendly, and we like to hear about anything with out passing judgement. I'll have to wait and see what they thought. My house is starting to look great!! If Michelle will share her secret to having photos through yahoo, I have "before" pictures and I plan on getting some after that I will share with you all if you would like. I stood in the living room today and just smiled. I'm so happy with the way it looks. We put in wood flooring and it made such a change!! The kitchen looks fantastic, and we bought a new refridgerator! (I'm excited about a fridge ladies!!) Let's hope I don't fill it with twinkies and cupcakes!!! It's getting late so I better close for the night. Hope everyone has a goodnight and goodmorning tomorrow!! Marti |
Aaaaaaaah! I am getting so angry! The last two days I have lost so many posts! Is anyone else having any problems? I go to submit my post and it says I am not logged on, I have logged on 4 times this morning. :headache: Okay, I will try one more time.
Marti, your dd sounds so sweet. Kids are so precious and you muct go have a photo with her. That will make her day and it will be a day she will treasure forever. I know what you mean about getting your hair cut in stages. I have wanted to cut my hair so many times because I too feel my hair is dragging me down. But I made a promise to myself to see this through and it is for a great cause so I have to do it. My dd was going to do it also, she has this beautiful thick dark brown hair and I just thought that would make a beautiful wig, she couldn't do it. Her hair got to her! I have about 3-4 inches to go depending on how short I want to go before I can get it cut. Yes, I would believe a new hair cut/style can give a person more confidence, and boost your self-esteem, it does. There's nothing like being pampered for a few hours. I have never had a manicure or pedicure and the more I go into Wal-Mart the more I want one. I have always done my nails myself but thought the other day when I saw a man getting a manicure how nice it would be to have someone else do it for a change. Maybe that will be a treat/reward for this next mini-goal. Kat, that would be so cool to see someone walking down the street with your (dds) hair. I haven't managed my workout as of yet but it will be done before the day is over. Took dd driving early this morning, she is doing pretty good. I am still not confident enough to let her drive on her own. That probably won't happen for a while. I read an article about teen drivers and they thought that parents don't spend enough time teaching their kids to drive before letting them go on their own. My dd gets distracted too easily and I am really afraid to let her drive alone, it may be months before I do. She tried last year and really wasn't interested the reason I didn't pressure her. I've even taken her out at night so she could get used to that. I have been waiting for it to rain so she doesn't freak out whe she has to drive in it, I think the snow will be the worst. Anyway, we'll see. Hi Jana, Kayecee, Michelle, Mel, Ruth, Carree and anyone else I may have missed. I hope EVERYONE is having a great day today! :) TTFN |
Hi all,
I am in a big hurry, but have been busy all day and not able to be here. Now one of my sisters is on the way out here with her boyfriend. I wanted to say HI and also say that while I was at Walmart today, a friend that I haven;t seen for awhile came up to me and said "You're losing weight!" That felt so good! I showed her my bracelet and told her about WW (she asked...). DD and I still haven't spoken. I don't like it, but I am not going to initiate anything with her. I have seen SIL only because he brings the twins to me when I want them. :D Have a good one! Jana |
I can relate about not wanting your teen to drive alone right away. Mine came back from driver's ed with a statistic saying that the risk of an accident for a new driver does not decline until they have at least 600 hours of experience. Mine has about 50. I'll let her run short errands or drive to and from school, but if its night, raining, snowing, etc she can't drive alone just yet. My car is a standard and her dad is teaching her to drive a stick shift over the next two weeks while she is in New Mexico, but she can't drive my car alone until I've ridden with her and am confident that she can handle the added level of complexity.(plus won't toast my clutch)
She's now just about finished her flight and I'm assuming no news is good news. I walked just under 3 miles in the airport terminal, so I'm going to go ahead and call that my workout for the day. :D |
This is for Carree tomorrow:
:balloons: :gift: :hb: HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARREE!! :hb: :gift: :balloons: Hope your day is special and fun! Jana, I don't blame you for not making the first move with your dd, she definitely owes you an apology. Isn't it such a great feeling and the greatest compliment when someone notices your loss? You should be so proud because you have done an awesome job with your loss, I am happy for you. Now send some of those vibes this way! Kat, I'm sure your dd is fine. I would get stressed when my son would fly. What got me was he was supposed to call as soon as he reached his destination, never happened. He would wait a couple of hours once he got there, he had to get settled in and relax ya know. Ugh, kids! I don't think they realize how stressed we actually get. Well, I hope everyone had a good day. Talk to you ladies tomorrow. :) |
Good morning ladies,
Carree - :balloons:HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! :balloons: I hope you have a wonderful day and are treated like a queen all day ~ you deserve it. Any special plans for the day? If I could, I'd take you to lunch today! Marti - awww, your DD9 is a sweetie! Cherish these innocent years! Hope your friends join us! Do they know how crazy we are?? But caring, very caring. I'd love to see your house - post pics as soon as you can. Hey, I get all excited about new appliances, too. I just about wet myself when I got a range that turns on to a pre-set temp and time while I'm away from the house! :D Cristi - I've never ever had a manicure or pedicure, either. It would be very nice to be pampered! And goodness knows I should go get my nails done professionally since I always get some polish on the skin around them. That's why I usually stick with clear polish. Kat - I feel for you, having DD flying too far from the nest. We want them to go, then lose sleep over their safety. I bet she was really looking forward to seeing her dad. Hi to the others. Here's my news - DD knocked on the door last night and came in warily. I just looked at her and she started to cry and said she was so sorry for what she and sil did. (I will talk to HIM later) I hugged her, and said for her to never let something like that happen again. She said she has missed me, and I told her the same. We talked a little more about it, and I could tell she was ashamed of herself - as she should be! I dried her tears the same way I did when she was a little girl. And I feel so much better! Another mini-crisis over and done with. What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, I guess. I have been doing very good with the food. Not too bad with the water. I do the WATP when my knee will let me, but I'm not too worried about that right now. I bought a sweater for my 35 pound loss, when I get there. It is a V-neck, in azure (a funny blue) and both my DDs said to get new black pants to go with it. Which I do already have black pants - don't we all!!! But I need new, smaller ones. YAY!!! I am 7 1/4 pounds from meeting that goal. The reward system is working out well so far. Gotta get Mount Washmore under control. BBL, Jana |
Good Day All :sunny:
Jana, I am so glad to hear you and your dd are speaking again, and that she apologized. WTG on staying OP and on your next reward, the sweater sounds so pretty. I am definitely going to try the reward system myself. I think a pedicure sounds fabulous! I too make a mess of my nails on occasion but let me give you a tip. Once your nails are dry if you soak your hands in water the nail polish usually peels right off. I have been polishing my nails since I was 15 and while I have gotten better over the years there still is the occasional mess up, oh well. Marti, I forgot to mention about the photos of your house, I too would love to see them. I was just so frustrated yesterday from losing so many posts I completely forgot. Also, about the appliance-I just assumed every woman got excited about a new one! Hey I got excited about our new stove and microwave that's goes above the stove. Even though I have lost my desire to cook I do like my kitchen to look nice! Okay, ladies I hope you all are having a wonderful day. And Carree I hope your are celebrating like there is no tomorrow! :hb: Later ladies... |
