Morning all,
A crisp cool morning here. Still it will be a beautiful day. I think winter is about gone and we are into an early spring since the temps are rising daily. The corn cobs are growing daily - no doubt helped along by the fact that I set the water on yesterday dinner time and forgot about it. The back yard was well awash this morning. There's goes my water bill for the month. I think the beetroot will be ready soon as well, along with the last of the purple carrots. I also notice out there that the pots I planted the lemon and lime bushes in have rotted at the bottom - that's what you get for putting them in wooden 'barrel' size pots made in Vietnam. Sort of cheap and wholly nasty.

Happy - I'm not such a spice person as it seems. I like a little chili but when it begins to blow the taste buds and you can't identify what you are eating then I give up. Far as I am concerned it is supposed to enhance the food, not drown it. Stroganoff - I wait for the commune to produce this masterpiece but if I have to wait too long, I may just have to make it myself. Forget the noodles or rice, I'll have mine with a couple of slices of crusty bread thanks.
Glad you noticed those underdone biscuits otherwise someone would have been coming in to a gawdawful smell one morning and guess who would probably have been blamed.
The vet always talks about raw chicken necks for cleaning the cats teeth however I find that I have to buy them in big bags from the supermarket and then the cat will only look at one once a week and only gets around to eating one a month. Waste of money. As for the toothbrush forget it. I will take her to the vet. I pay them to get scratched.
No finding Asian anything down my way. Very few ads overall.

Mel - thanks for the Christmas cheer. It didn't work. I need someone with a magic wand. I ache in places I didn't know I had places to ache in. Today should see the end of the rubbish in the roof. Now just have to put in some new insulation and a bit of flooring. Might need the DS2 for that tho'. I will certainly need his ute to bring the stuff home in.

Ceejay - not sure that I like my new mower too much yet. Hope you like yours better. If you sweat while mowing that's a good thing, however you must remember to put the fluid back when you have finished. Glad you beat the neighbour to the removal of the old mower.

Michelle - babies don't tend to like being with people they don't know well. The more you see him and play with him the better. I have a better relationship with my great nieces than with my granddaughter, but S is getting better with other people now. Feel better soon.

Annie - Men fret over the darnedest things. Good you could have a laugh about it. I forget some of the pots around here too with the watering but hopefully when I have finished with this garden, they too will have a dripper system which will water them when I forget. Pots unfortunately need a lot of water.

Okay - I won't put my pornographic old VHS's into the old folks home anymore, Nor will I donate suspect books or furniture or knickers for that matter
Time to get dressed and get up in the roof space. With a bit of luck I can be down from there before it gets too hot although today is a lot more cloudy that yesterday which may keep the temps down somewhat.

Back to the ladder!

Hi ladies,

Started to do a post this morning and then the Internet bonked out on us. Been rather spotty service lately. Not much we can do about it - part of the problem of living on the outskirts of civilization.

Must have been wake up early day although I did not get up at 4 or 5 am like you crazy people! It's gray and cool and cloudy even though the weather report says it's sunny right now I did a little work in the garden, picked a couple of sad veggies but I think we are rounding out the end of the season. My cucumber plants don't look too good even though they are producing a smaller crop of fruit, the arugula is overgrown, I pulled out the lettuces that were bitter - won't be growing them next year. Got the last of the baby carrots and my sugar snap peas vines are withering out even as they are sending new shoots with a few flowers. Was a complete and total waste of garden bed to grow Roma style plum tomatoes this year. I got a lot of fruit but it is small, hard and is far more suited to lining the rock bed than eating I did get 2 small Early Girl tomatoes which I hope to make into a nice Caprese salad for dinner tonight. My chive plant is huge and needs to be cut back - I guess you lose less flavor if you freeze them than dry them out so I'll be doing that today after I water the garden. The flowers are starting to lose their blooms too. I missed the last 2 autumn color shows here with the trees, hoping to catch it this year. Funny to talk about autumn colors when we should be sweating in mid August but it is what it is.

DH and I went for a ride yesterday - wanted to drop off some large dog watering bowls to the Humane Society but they were not interested so off to the Thrift Shop they went as well as 2 bags of cans (they get cash for them and use it for the animal chow). I had a taste for a burger so we decided to try a place that is just down the road from us on a lake. What a nice place - typical bar and 7 table restaurant but they have a really nice deck with 5 outdoor tables which overlooks a big lake. It was a nice afternoon. Came home, took a nap and spent the rest of the night doing a few house things and then some relaxing. Next thing you know it's morning. I am working at the shop today and I spent a bit too much time having coffee, talking with DH and playing with the cats so I am short for time. Sorry no personals right now, will try and get back here later tonight.

Enjoy what's left of your weekend ladies.

More rain this morning, but I did make it to church. My friend never made to cut up her watermelon. So I don't know what is in store today. If she come she comes. I'm not waiting on her.
I'm pleased with all this I got accomplished yesterday. I've started cleaning the office which is getting piled up in junk again. Went through some files and discarded some and need to do some more. Anything under 2003 will be shredded.
Rode the bike for 4.2 miles or twenty minutes.

Mel
Ah a Scooby Doo marathon. Sounds like a good day. Your picture of the news paper and coffee reminds me of Laura.

Happy
Sounds like you are in a good area to live. Nothing but the animals to bother you. I don't know if it's me but it feels like fall is just around the corner. A nap sound good for this afternoon.

Shad
Be careful up in the roof space.

Hello's to the rest. Have a good day

Evening all,
Been another busy day, well at least the morning part of it was. This afternoon was devoted to housework and email yelling at the car salesman. I want me new car and I am getting impatient and will shortly be so far over it I may cancel the order and get on with finding something that will actually get to my place.
This morning I dug and spread some more soil, then took to the side garden and dug out all the weeds which are coming from next door. I poured a fair amount of weed killer along the boundary as well and put sleepers along my side of the fence. I doubt that will actually stop the weeds, but it might slow them down. I may have to rethink that garden. I've sorted all the stuff from up in the roof and chucked most of it. Stuff up there I hadn't seen for years and years and years. I didn't even know we still had it. Well we don't any longer, the heat has got to the plastics and cloth stuff and that just disintegrated in my hand so I was dropping handfuls of dust into the bucket at the bottom of the ladder. I suspect DS1 will not want any of his uni text books and will tell me to chuck them.
Then I put the Sophia wall together will a lot of the photos I had on the computer and which I got printed. I need to get some more printed as well. Once it is all up and running I will take a photo of it and post it here.
The afternoon was given over to house work - cleaning up the junk and rubbish and dust from the roof, changing beds, laundry, cleaning - all that junk. So I haven't exactly been idle. I did manage my walking exercise this morning.

Mel - I have been planning this jaunt up in the roof space for a couple of years. I did do some of it and thought I had chucked all the junk, but apparently not. I will categorically state that there is no cr*p up there now.
Funny you should talk about Worldly. I was doing my taxes last night and totting up the donations for the year. All except one donation was for an animal cause. To **** with the people

Happy - sounds like you haven't had a good growing season. We didn't have much of one here this time around. Normally I can get 4 seasonal crops a year. But the winter started off so cold that everything just didn't grow well. Some of them are starting to come away now, now that we have our proper winter weather back. So at best there will only be 3 croppings this year. Fingers By the way, lettuce gets bitter if it has been left growing too long or has not had enough water in the early growth.

Ceejay - nice going on the exercise and the cleaning tidying bit. Strange that the watermelon didn't show up. Maybe she took to it with an axe in her own backyard.

Tomorrow will not be a big work day. The cat goes to the vet for surgery, and I go to town for a chat with M about a job he has for me and also the training school. Then lunch with a friend, pick up a layby and home to pick up the cat. I should still manage to get a bit of yardwork and housework done, if I push it.

And that is about it. Hope I can find the cat in the morning. I have to let her out to allow her to relieve herself, but maybe I can get her back in with some yoghurt or icecream.

Good Morning, It's a Brand New Day.....Wake up, wake up!! You too Shaddie.!

Broken toe and all, I got the the grass cut and my car cleaned, vacuumed out and all the laundry done. What would normally take me 4 loads to do laundry, I got it all done in two. I tell you that washer and dryer are amazing. Went to Sissy's neighbor's little boy's fall ball baseball game. Oh did that bring back the memories of my kiddos when they were little. It was fun. Had a stomach ache and loo issues most of the weekend. Don't know what started that unless it was too many fresh veggies from the garden. Curtis slightly had it. Of course all is well now that it is Monday and back to work. bleh. I have about 50 packets I have to get together for an enrollment on the 22nd. Lots of PDFs to put together and rate sheets. It is rather fun making the PDFs. C and I are taking the 21st-24th as vacay and heading down to Brown County, Indiana staying in a cabin on the lake with a hot tub. Fishing, tubbing and fun. wink wink. Which also means I won't have to do the enrollment. Yeah!!

Sissy is doing great. Still a lot of morning sickness all day long, guess that would be day sickness rather than just the morning. My hunches...it will be a girl. Lydia Anne. Everyone think pink.

MELLIE...you know that if you have a quiet weekend, you week will be h*ll with alarms and muck. Maybe not. Fingers crossed. The picture of the coffee cup in the wind looks so lonely sitting there in the rain window.

CEEG...good for you on decluttering the office. C and I love watermelon. I think we have had 3 this past month. Of course C can eat about half the watermelon in one sitting and that is after he has eaten dinner. lol

HAPPY...think I am going to give up on a hanging pot on the front porch and instead replace it with a wind chime. I just cannot remember to water the stinkin thing. Probably because we do not use the front door. We go in and out through the garage with the opener. I have enough other flowers out there to keep it pretty and colorful. My cukes are flailing around also. Half of the plants are dried and brown. Still have a few cukes but none to brag about at the moment. I have never heard of the Humane Society NOT accepting doggie donations. Must be picky.

SHADDIE...winter is about over for you and here comes fall for us. Altho beautiful, not looking forward to the S word and the cold temps that go with it. Bleh. Would love to see your purple carrots, don't know why I am so intrigued by the thought of them.

Gonna post this and go to page 3 to finish...

SHADDIE...did I miss something, why is the cat going to have surgery. Remember I am a blonde and forget things easily...lol. (Not really a blonde but play the part very well)

On with the day, think I may grill out tonight. For some reason I am craving Angus burgers on the grill. May do some taters and fresh veggies on the grill also.

Hello to all the rest of you lovely ladies.

Hugs.

Morning all,

Last night was the peak of the Perseids Meteor shower. Been nice and clear the last few nights and OF COURSE it totally clouded up last night. Been here 2 years and have yet to catch a decent star show. If it does happen to be clear, we have a full moon obliterating everything. Might be another opportunity tonight, we'll have to see although I do have to go into the shop tomorrow afternoon. Things are starting to slow down for the summer season - I guess the kids are back in school (it's the MOST WONDERFUL time of the year ) - love that television commercial Less foot traffic in town, people will be coming up for the weekends rather than a weeklong stay which means we get our town back again and I won't have to grocery shop during the week days. I only did $40 in sales for the 4 hours I had the store open. Spent a good part of the time tidying up the store - people were tossing things about again. Then I priced some costume jewelry and rearranged the display cases. DH and I went out for pizza afterwards. It was decent enough - not enough sauce tho and DH did not really care for the mix of cheeses they used - he's more of a straight up mozzarella man. We will still go there for fish fry, might try Monday Chicago hot dog night or Wednesday wing night too just for a change of pace. It's a beautiful day today - no rain in sight for the next 10 days - we are having an awfully dry season. I will have to go water the plants again today and then on to housework. DH will work outside - good weather for that.

Mel - your coffee picture looks so dreary. Please send some rain our way - we certainly could use it and you seem to have an abundance of it - must be picking it up from the Great Lakes as our winds pass east over to you. I'll say you've been inundated with alarms this month. What gives? People get bored in the gray weather??? That's sort of funny about the lady getting a private room because she had bedbugs but I'd have to say I'd be freaking if she lives in the building. Can they be easily passed to other apartments? As for the greenhouse - it served it's purpose well in the spring when I had plants that were still in the trays and I could protect them overnight. At this point it's been storing my garden tools and extra pots for the last 2 months. DH was going to take it down and I told him no as I would have moved my herb pots in there if it got really cold. However, herbs and flowers are starting to fade out - don't think there is much worth saving so I will probably clean out the shelter and let him take it down for the season. DH shored up the frame on the garden itself so that it made it easier to use the plastic tarp but with my tomato crop as sad as it is, not sure I will use that into the fall either. Night time temps are creeping closer to the 30's mark - will probably get there in about 2 more weeks. Are you having a cool season too with all that rain? The only good thing about it being so dry here is that the mosquitoes that were so horrid the beginning of the season have all but disappeared. We're seeing a lot more animals in the yard, no doubt because the grasses and greenery are all dry.

Laura - I'd always get peeved when I dragged my computer home for nothing over the weekend. But on the bright side, that meant you probably spent it doing things for yourself instead of "working for dah man". Good luck with that upcoming project you have due soon.

Michelle - sounds like you had a great weekend on your FB post. Glad you had a fun time. When does the new job start?

Annie - glad you are liking the new laundry pair - I'm sure you'll get set into a new rhythm for getting the proper size loads - no more washing every day. How nice that you scored a cabin! You rarely take a vacation and this sounds like just the relaxing break you need. C will no doubt be in fishing heaven. Cherry on the top for also missing the enrollment period - hope you won't have to go nutzo trying to get everything done before you leave. Maybe you need to just get a nice pot of SILK (ie. no water ) flowers for the front porch. Reminds me of one of the neighbors back in Memphis. Had to go door to door for something we were doing in the neighborhood and I was kind of appalled when I got to one door which was covered in dust, leaves and spider webs. I knew the woman who was just the nicest lady and very particular about herself and the landscaping. She opened the front entry door to me and I didn't want to touch the screen door because it was covered in sticky cobwebs. It was awkward for a moment and they she realized what was going on, got all red in the face and got a broom to clean off the door. She said she never uses the front door - they too use the side door and the garage entrance. We had a good laugh!

Shad - I missed it too - what's with Sunday or is that the dental work you mentioned earlier? Poor kitty - hope she does not have to have too many teeth extracted. Good job on cleaning out the attic. Guess it's good when it's hot up there - keeps one from using it as storage for things you don't really need to keep. I love the idea of a Sophia wall - can't wait to see how it comes out. I tend to agree with you on the charitable donations - I am more and more inclined to support the animals over people.

Ceejay - sounds like you had a nice productive day too. Too bad you didn't get any watermelon out of it

I'd best get on with the day. Have a good one all...

HAPPY....I thought about the silk flowers for the hanging pot. A friend of mine, that is all she puts out every year. She gets them at Dollar Tree and has the most gorgeous flowers every year...lol. From the street you cannot tell they are silk. My brother said the flowers are so dead in there now it looks like I need to harvest them and roll a doobie. lol. I try to broom my porch every couple of weeks to avoid getting leaves congregating there, not to mention the cob webs and such. I knew about the meteor shower but was too tired to stay up and watch it. Didn't help that I took a nighty night pill either. We have scattered T-storms in Indiana today, but they are all in the lower half of Indiana. Always misses us. Looks like I will have to get out and water again. Dang it. Too bad on DH and the cheese, I LOVE cheese of all kinds. First job was Hickory Farms. YUMMY. Back when they used to sell it out of the case and gave samples. I like extra sauce on my Za also. Mostly why I make my own pizza. Have a Fab of a day/night. hugs

I'm a sore chick today...not even sure why. I didn't overdo it this weekend. I'll be done with work in 1/2 hour, and will then take Santa to the dog park. That way he can run around and I don't have to overtax my back.

Mel - Sorry about the surprise election. Don't you overdo it, ok?

Sending much love to all...I'll try and catch up tomorrow.

Hugs,

Evening all,
Been in town today. Had lunch with a friend and went to see M about my new job. I think I have everything I need until I come back from NZ, then I will have to knuckle down and figure out a new company, new machinery, new methods and the same old recalcitrant blokes. That will be fun. However having dealt with my sister, I am sure I am up to the challenge. I also paid off a new ring that I put on layby some time back so all and all I spent some money. Had a laugh with friends, drank some coffee, and slung the bullsh*t as per normal.
Picked up the cat from the vet and she is okay if somewhat subdued. Had 4 teeth removed. Had to have soft food for tea (if she feels like eating says the vet. Huh?) The day that cat doesn't feel like eating will be the last day. Then I rung my sister and listened to the excuses that the house doesn't need tidying. And IM'd my niece and declared that it does. She agreed. So a load of fun is to be had by all by the sound of it.

Anyway, it's time for bed so I will do personals in the morning. Catch you later
