Oh and before I forget, the tax man wants another chunk of my considerably diminished fortune. Better book my overseas trip before he decides he needs some more. Where do we not get expedited from?

Laura705 07-16-2013 10:43 AM

Morning all. Hot and steamy here.

Shad - Huh, not sure which countries have no extradition treaty with Aus. In a quick search I learned the US doesn't have treaties with Cuba, Morocco, Iran, Nicaragua and there are surely others. Good luck with the tax man. I'm glad that all was good by the time the DS and DP and little S. left town. All the togetherness reminds you of the importance of tolerance - by all, for all, LOL. Sorry your potato plants got eaten. I hope they can come back from that. :crossed:

Michelle - Sounds like a really busy weekend for you, I hope you're better rested after another night's sleep, and that your back is feeling better too.

===
Went to Jazzercise class last night. Lordy it was hot in there. This class is held in a church space that has no AC. I think they must have the windows closed all day, and that doesn't help. But even with fans and the windows wide open, it was really hot in there. And of course that's the day I forget to pack a towel!!! And there was another instructor leading the class and she's not nearly as good as my fave instructor. Not my best class by a long shot. If it's hot again like that on Thursday, I'm not going. Well, maybe, and only if C. is teaching. I have to check the calendar on that.

Bf and I are on day 6 of the 30-day squat challenge we're doing. So far, so good. He keeps focusing on the fact that by day 30 you do 250 squats and he's not keen on that, but I hope he'll stick with it.

Not going to the movies tonight. I didn't even vote...just not in the mood. They picked "The Lone Ranger" with Johnny Depp. I'm not particularly interested, so it's good I didn't really want to go to a movie tonight.

WW meeting today. Hoping for no gain, and that's as optimistic as I dare to be because I had quite a snacky day yesterday.

Everyone keep cool today!

diyana 07-16-2013 11:44 AM

Good morning ladies,

I got the info I needed from my teammate. Now I have a bit of reconfiguring of my program to do to make it all work. Rather write the program to grab the data from a wide variety of sources, I just need to tweak it to utilize existing programs that call the data, and import it to display in my program. Not sure if that makes sense. It'll take a bit of work to tweak my program, but in the long run, it will be better. So despite the work I put in unwittingly going down the wrong path...it'll be ok in the end.

Santa was restless last night and woke me up several times to go out. Hopefully he'll be better tonight. :crossed:

I have a couple recruiters submitting me for positions in Southern CA. I'm not "actively" looking for new positions, but I'm not removing my resume from the job boards either. So if recruiters call me and have a position that sounds interesting either in Southern or Northern CA, I'll let them submit me.

I'm very happy where I am, and could happily stay here for at least another 6 months to a year, if my stepmom will have us that long. Santa and I enjoy living with my stepmom and spending time with my stepbrother, and not having to pay rent is helping me pay off some debt, which is a very good thing.

=============================

Shad - Bummer that your ex and DP had issues, and that she got mad at something you said too. Glad you were able to work together on Saturday, and all was good by Sunday. It doesn't surprise me that DP is dramatic if she watches the Kardashians and Real Housewives, but I'm relieved to hear she's a good mum. Hope you had a good day in the garden today. As for the obedience, I am the one who gets the lessons! Thanks for the kind words. I am much happier and more light-hearted since the move. It's still sometimes a rollercoaster of emotions, but the good days are many, and the not so good are few and very far between. :)

Laura - My back was really bad yesterday, but it's a bit better today. Hard to believe they hold Jazzercise in an unairconditioned building on a hot muggy day/evening. Good for you on doing the squat challenge! Good luck at WW today.

Hugs to Mellie. Hang in there, girlfriend. My thoughts are with you.

Big  to Happy, Ceejay and Annie!

Much love to all,

Hotcupojava 07-16-2013 11:54 AM

Howdy

Imagine. If you will: a turtle wearing a grass skirt and a coconut bra (okay, let's be realistic....a watermelon bra), flowers in her "hair" (turtles don't have hair..shhhh) and flower leis around her wrists and ankles (cankles). Now, Melody, you're on! Sing "we're having a heat wave, a tropical heat wave". Okay, I just wanted to plant that image, then sneak back out. Hello to all you lovely ladies of the world. Please be kind to yourselves and enjoy your day.
:coffee::coffee:

Java
Are you actually there?

Shad
Bet you are glad for some peace and quiet. And back to work.

Laura
Just think of all the calories you are burning and toxins you are sweating with out the a.c.
I'd like to do the squat challenge but right now my knees are not able to do that.

Michelle
You do sound very happy in SJ. Even Santa sounds content.

Not much going on today. I've had to contend with two power outages this week. Sunday afternoon until shift change and last night at shift change
A 99 year old man knocked down a utility pole Sunday. It took from 3.30 p.m. till around 10 p.m. for them to rebuild a new pole and get it set. The customers were getting irate. This is the one thing about this job I will not miss at all.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel for this work week. The rest of today and tomorrow and I'm off for 3 days.
I wanted to go to the a district water meeting in Paragould Thursday but I don't think I should. I need to stay home and rest.

diyana 07-16-2013 01:26 PM

Ceejay - I hope today and tomorrow are better for you, with no power outages or irate customers. :crossed:

Laura705 07-16-2013 03:54 PM

My weight had no change today and that was fine by me - no gain is a good thing! Strangely enough, the WW weigher didn't mark it in my weight tracker thingy. I'm sure she just marked their card and forgot mine. We'll see next week.

Ceejay - Gosh, hope there aren't any more power outages to deal with! I'm sure your weekend can't come a moment too soon for you. Hang in there!! Re the squats - my one knee felt slightly strainedin class last night, but I don't feel it when I do squats, only when I do lunge-type moves.

Michelle - Glad your back's feeling a bit better today. Any water-aerobics classes coming up? Hopefully you'll have a more restful night's sleep tonight. I slept like the dead last night and overslept this morning. My clock-radio alarm is set to wake me to the radio, but the volume had been turned down too low and I didn't really hear it.

Hi Miss Java!! Now I have that song in my head!! :D

annie175 07-17-2013 07:30 AM

Mornin ladies...

Too hot for comfort around here. I have gotten a lot of yard work done the past few days. Curtis got the attic ladder installed. That was a hot job. Shue weeee.

Today is a meet in greet with the VP from Ohio. He is supplying the meat for lunch and we all brought a covered dish. He ordered BBQ from GT South restaurant. Very good BBQ. I made baked beans with all the trimmings in it. Onion, bacon, brown sug, etc etc. Then covered the top with bacon. Baked them this morning before work. I can smell them...I am not a bake bean fan but the bacon sure does entice me. lol

MELLIE...hope you are finding peace.

SHADDIE...is in re-coup land after company.

CEEG...is looking for the light at the end of the tunnel.

CHELLE...is having a good ole time in CA.

LAURA...is waisting away to nothing.

HAPPY...is trying to survive her momma.

HELLO to JAVA!!

Stay cool everyone.

Hugs

ceejay52 07-17-2013 08:50 AM

Morning
I'm tired as can be but hanging on for today. I didn't sleep well last night.
Giving every one a  I'll be back tomorrow.

Laura705 07-17-2013 10:10 AM

Morning all. Still hot and steamy, and it will continue through Friday.

Annie - Enjoy the bbq today. Your baked beans sound delish!! :hun:

Ceejay - Glad you slept well. Very important to be well-rested when you're on day what - at least #10 right??!!!

Hellos to the rest of the Worldlies.

Nothing much to report. Went to dinner and then Home Depot last night. They botched our bound rug for the foyer - not the rug itself, but not phoning us that it was ready for over two weeks, and then not knowing where it was in the store when we initiated the inquiry about it. So bf spoke to the store mgr and got us a 10% discount on several items we bought last night, including an air compressor and its accessories.

Nothing planned tonight.

Okay, off to see the boss. She has a project from her boss that will become my project. TTFN.

diyana 07-17-2013 10:55 AM

Good morning ladies -

Super quick check in for me as I was given a project late yesterday that has to be done by tomorrow. I did sleep well last night. Yay!! And I'm ready to tackle the day and the creating of a time-recording system in a programming language I'm still learning.

====================
Laura - Congrats on the no gain! Good on you and bf getting a discount to make up for the rug fiasco. Aqua aerobics is on Mondays and Wednesdays. I skipped this past Monday due to exhaustion from the weekend. I'm planning on attending tonight.

Ceejay - Hang in there, sista. Just a couple more days. Have they said if you'll get three days off? I sure hope so.

Annie - You had me drooling just thinking about your yummy baked beans. I can almost smell the bacon.

A big  to all!

Much love and many hugs,

ceejay52 07-17-2013 02:21 PM

This is my last work day for this week. I will be off the next three days. Just going rest and relax. I might get out and mow the lawn if it's not to hot. Definitely not going anywhere.

Shad 07-17-2013 06:59 PM

Morning all,
Been up since early this morning to take the ex back to the airport. Kicked him out and stuck around just long enough to make sure he went. If there were ever any doubts about that split, they have disappeared for ever and ever. Gave him a farewell dinner last night along with the DS2 and girlfriend. We managed to get through several bottles of bubbly and a fair amount of food.

DS1 and DP and little one are safely home and settled back in. Don't think DS1 really wanted to go, but unless he sticks his foot down and gets a good paying job somewhere else, dead end State is where he will stay.

Laura - many of our gyms have set aircon temperatures and have to use fans to keep the temps down so the users don't drop down dead. I presume the aircon is set as in an office for the average person or more generally for a bloke in a suit which means it is too cold for the average woman. Anyway 24C is far to warm for exercise, hence the fans.
I like the idea of a squat challenge. You will have rock hard thighs and buns with that one.
No change is better than upward spiral in the weight area.
Good for you for complaining about the rug and its non appearance. 10% discount is good news.
Good luck with the new project.

Michelle - good luck with the new program. Hope you get it done in time. It's good that you are enjoying staying with the stepmother.

Ceejay - you must be feeling somewhat tired of work by now. Do you have to get a security firm out to escort you to the bank with all that money?

Happy - hang in there. It's really quiet when they have gone.

Mel - hope the sciatica has gone now and you are on the road to recovery. No doubt you are thinking of your brother a lot just now.

Java - nice to hear from you again.

Annie - the smell of bacon and toast are some of the best smells in this world. Hope you enjoyed the meet and greet.

It's cool here - temp hasn't got above 18C yet. I need to go and do something to warm up. Can't sit around all day. Seeya
