Morning ladies,

Been a crazy week. Long story but we are not going in to Chicago after all. We are doing a "relay" with Mom - DH driving her 5 hours to Madison, SIL is picking her up there and taking her back to her home in Milwaukee where my sister will drive up and meet them there and then take my Mom back home. I am sad that I won't get to see my sister probably at all this year and I think DH is secretly happy we don't have to go to Chicago. But there are considerations and all in all, I think we are doing the best thing even if it doesn't work out for every one. Mom had a good time, she said part of her is ready to go home and part of her is not. She said she sure will have a period of adjustment once she gets back home.

Seems like most of you are suffering from this latest heat wave. No exception here. Been in the 90's, everyone is complaining about the heat and it's only been really hot for about a week now I would think that would be ideal weather for boating, kayaking, canoeing - water things like you do out here. The bugs are annoying - particularly the flies. Mosquitoes are not quite as intense as they were because we are suffering for a lack of rain as things are drying out but there are still enough of them in the woods to bite you when you least expect it.

Mel - you should know that you can't ever truly get away from everyone. I hope you had sufficient time to mourn properly and remember your brother in happier times. Keep cool in this heat and take care of yourself first. I'm sure the hospitals are inundated with heat stroke cases. Asked my Mom why old people won't use air conditioning and she said because they are always cold. I find it hard to believe that because the minute she steps outside she is complaining about how Gawd awful hot it is outside so she notices the warmth Enjoy your Good Witch marathon this week.

Shad - glad that everyone is off to where they belong and you have the place to yourself again? I saw your objections to the rains - isn't that what winter weather is for you or are you looking for just clear blue days and comfortable temps?

Ceejay - enjoy your 3 days off. Isn't it hot out by you? Be careful if you decide to do the yard work. Take a big picture of tea or lemonade along with you.

Michelle - good luck with the new programming project - hope you fly through the code!

Laura - good going on getting some compensation from Home Depot - sounds like it was a timely discount since you were purchasing other things.

Java - I love your pictures of Stinky on FB.

Annie - hope the luncheon turned out well. The beans sound delicious.

Well I have to run out and water all my plants - will have just enough time to clean up, grab something light and fast for lunch and then it's off to the thrift store for the afternoon. I took Mom around yesterday - we ran some errands, had some fun at the casino and she got all of her fudge and candy purchases made for gifts back home. I'll get to spend all day tomorrow with her for her last day here so that will be good.

I'll be back to post on the weekend once I have the house all to myself again.

I've been online paying some bills this morning. Completed one load of laundry also. Will start the second load this afternoon.

Happy
It's definitely hot. I've been trying to stay inside. A five hour trip can be exhausting. But glad things worked out to where ya'll didn't have to drive all the way to Chicago.

Michelle
I like learning new things. Hope this wasn't to hard of a program.

Be back soon.

Morning all. Ugh, really hot already - 88 F at about 9 am when I checked. Who knows how bad it is now!!

Ceejay - Hope you get to stay inside today. I especially dislike running errands by car in the heat - the car gets so hot when it's parked, way hotter than outside. Multiple stops are just so annoying in this weather - the car barely starts to cool by the time you get to the next stop! Enjoy your 3 days, and stay cool!!!

Happy - Wow, 5 hours just to Madison. That really is a long trip, and super long to Chicago. Good you don't have to do that this time, but it's a shame you won't get to see your sister. Have a good shift at the thrift shop today (have you bought much from the shop?) and enjoy the last day with your mom tomorrow.

Mel - Not nice of people to ignore the "go away" signs on your door! Can't they just leave you in peace??!! Thankfully we're expecting cooler weather on the weekend, but til then, everyone I see on the street looks soooo uncomfortable. I suppose the low 80's will seem like a treat after the 90's with heat indexes of 100+.

Shad - Ah, the ex is gone, and good riddance, huh. Not that there was ever any doubt about the split with him, right, lol. You've got a point about the AC - big difference between a man wearing a suit jacket, or even just the dress shirt with sleeves (and undershirt underneath it), versus a woman wearing the flimsy dresses and sleeveless tops - which is all they seem to sell in the stores despite plenty of women who would very much like to cover there upper arms because (a) they don't like the way they look and (b) they are the that part feels the cold most - except for maybe toes. Sometimes it feels so good to step outdoors just to take the chill off! But really, that just lasts for only a step or two in this type of weather.

Michelle - Hope the project is going well. A friend of mine heads up time reporting system implementations. The last couple times we've gotten together, she's talked about how she wants to do something less intense and just plain different. Sounds interesting... I wonder how serious she is. Did you go to the water aerobics last night? Sounds cool just thinking about it.

----
Nuttin' much to report. We were at Home Depot again last night for a couple returns and to buy a light bulb. I've had enough of that place lately, but I know we'll be back soon enough. The other night we revisited the paint swatches. The two samples I painted on our powder room walls didn't do anything for either of us. This time we didn't buy a sample, just took a bunch of the swatches of the same shade, which were single color only and much larger than the usual multi-shade ones. We'll tape some together and hang them on the wall, and hopefully that's the color!

NOT going to Jazzercise tonight, too darn hot. I'll see if I feel like doing a workout in the basement after work. Last night was a rest night for the squat challenge, but on with it today. I think we'll be up to 85 reps now.

That's about it, so I'll sign off. TTFN!

Such a hectic day today at work....My head is still reeling. After spending all day yesterday and this morning building something that's due today...then my manager changes how he wants it to look, which would involve essentially starting from scratch. Spent a couple hours trying to figure out an easy way to give him what he wants....and then he said...no continue on with what I created at first, but get all the bells and whistles working as well. Well, I knew even that couldn't happen by end of day today...so I'll be working on that possibly this evening and definitely all day and evening tomorrow. And I may even put Santa in day care tomorrow so I can focus on work more. Luckily his day care is the same place we do obedience training.

I'll probably be working a little this weekend to try and get further along on this learning curve as well. Oh well, it's all good and fine. No worries. Learning is ALWAYS a good thing.

I'm also doing this self-help, self-esteem workshop, that's been very good, and I need to devote more time to that, and to playing and practicing with Santa. So yes, I have a very busy, and very fun life.

Hopefully I'll have time to catch up on personals tomorrow.

Much love and many hugs to all,

I'm back. Went to eat with friends at lunch.
Talked to the doctor this afternoon. He raised the mg's on the thyroid med.
Guess I was to sleepy to understand but I 'm glad I asked. Also asked about another med, my fluid pill, it's two in one. It has some potassium in it. My blood pressure was up a bit but think my knee pain was the cause.

------------
Shad
I've thought about getting an armored car to take the money to the bank. I realize that uncle Sam will get a hunk of it though. Bet you are glad things have settled down.

Laura
You've motivated me enough to exercise a bit more this week. And my food has been better too. Thanks.

I WAS JUST TOLD THE WORDS HAPPY FRIDAY ARE AN OXYMORON!!
FOR SOME REASON HIS STRUCK ME FUNNY.
IT WAS A REPAIRMAN.

nothing new. haD TO GO DOOR TO DOOR LOOKING FOR A CODEINE PILL.
AS YOU CAN IMAGINE...THE NECK AND SCIATICA ARE AT IT AGAIN.
BUT THIS WASN'T OVERWORKING JUST EMOTIONAL.
SO THE ONE PILL I GOT WORKED OVERNIGHT.
I REALLY NEED TO MAKE A DR APPT AND GET MY OWN PILLS.
BUT THIS BLDG IS LIKE A FRASSING PHARMACY.
TONS OF MEDS IN THEIR CABINETS AND THE PILLS SO STRONG THE SENIORS CANNOT TAKE THEM.
I WAS LUCKY AND FOUND A WOMAN ON MY FLOOR.
FEELING BETTER ALL AROUND NOW. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE WEEKEND.
ALL I NEED TO DO IS PLACE AN ORDER DOWN THE STREET FOR WEEKEND TREATS.
WAY TOO HOT AND SMELLY TO GO TO THE SUPERMARKET.
I WENT OUTSIDE FOR ONE SECOND AND CAME RUSHING BACK IN.

HOPE YOU GUYS STAY COOL AND HAVE A GREAT DAY.
SHADDIE...STAY WARM AND HOPE YOUR SATURDAY IS WONDERFUL.

HAPPY.....THE SENIORS ARE ALWAYS COLD.
THEY HAVE VERY LITTLE CIRCULATION AND FREEZE RIGHT AWAY.
I UNDERSTAND HOW THEY FEEL BUT THEY NEED TO KEEP IT ON WITH THE THERMOSTAT BARELY ON. THIS WAY THE AIR GETS CLEANED. MORE OXYGEN THAN SOOT!!!
I AM RELIEVED LIKE DH AND GLAD THE TRIP IS SHORTER.
IN THIS HEAT AND HIS OWN HEALTH IT'S A GOOD THING.
SORRY YOU WON'T SEE YOUR SISTER THIS YEAR THOUGH
UYOU CAN SING CHRISTMAS CAROLS OVER THE TELLIE

CEEJAY....HOPE THE CHANGES IN THE MEDS WORK.
ALSO HOPE THE KNEE FEELS BETTER.
I NEVER KNEW ABOUT POTASSIUM IN THOSE PILLS.
THAT'S VERY PRACTICAL. THANKS FOR THE INFO.
HOWS THE DAYS OFF????

LAURA.....JUST PAINT IT RED AND BE DONE WITH IT
I AM SURE SHAD WILL COME AND HELP OUT.
SHE LOVES RED WALLS JUST ASK HER.

MICHELLE...PUT THE NOSE TO THE GRINDSTONE AND GET IT DONE.
WE'LL STILL BE HERE WHEN YOU'RE DONE!! LOL
HOPE YOU DO OK WITH THIS PROJECT AND GET A GOOD "GRADE".
SOMETIMES BOSSES CAN BE REAL PITAS!!!

Geez Friday couldn't get here fast enough..TGIF for SHO!!

Made my homemade Za and breadstix for dinner with a lovely garden salad. Toppings on the ZA: Maple sausage, bacon, roma tomatos, chives, black olives, mushrooms, orange bell pepper and cheese of course. Bro, SIL and DD came over for dinner. YUM....good food and good company.

Went through a suitcase of pictures from dad's house. Came across yet more pix I wanted to keep. I need to make a space for them in the house. Great pix of mom and dad from young age to older. Momma was so beautiful and daddy handsome, not just saying that cause they are my parents either.

Just going to fluff around the house and try to finish up some projects, clean the garage mess up from installing the attic stairs, laundry, ran the vacuum yesterday after work. Will probably do sheets, dust, mop and scour baths tomorrow.

Cs work truck, brand new last September, the air conditioning went out. He is working in this challenging heat making his route stops. Poor guy, he was exhausted last night when he got home. Bless his heart.

We are supposed to get a break in the heat starting tomorrow. Thank you JESUS. It is ridiculous. Have to water the gardens every night. We might even get a bit of rain too, hate to say it but I am excited about it.

MELLIE...glad you are hanging in there, my thoughts and prayers are still going up for you and the kiddos. Codeine only makes me sleep but does not do anything for the pain. I am a tough cookie to crack. lol Hope the seniors are quiet for you this weekend.

SHADDIE...have you completely recovered from the company fiasco? Sheesh. Yeah on kicking out the x and sending him back to where he came from..you are a much better woman than I letting him stay at your house.

CHELLE...you can do the work, just focus and concentrate. Think positive thoughts, my friend. Hugs

HAPPY...Sadly you don't get to see your sister, but the shorter drive for you and DH has to have some kind of reward. Looks like the majority of the U.S. is suffering from this heat. You and I have to water our nuts off...lol

CEEG...hope you are enjoying your 3 days off. THat was a LOT of hours you put in. Seems like you all are a bit short on worker bees when someone is off for one reason or another. HOpe you get to feeling better with the knee pain. I am still suffering the ankle thing.

LAURA....Why not go retro in the bathroom? lol Then when you have to sit in there you have excitement to look at. I was just at Home Depot last weekend buying more stone and dirt. I like going there, well any hardware for that matter. I need a t-shirt that says, no I do not need help, I am just meandering around.

That is about it for me. Must do some work. Have a great Friday/nite all.

Loves.

Morning all & TGIF!!

Mel - Too funny you went around and asked neighbors for some codeine! Not an egg or a cup of sugar, drugs, LOL! What does the repairman have against Fridays???!!! Now Happy Monday - that's an oxymoron as good as jumbo shrimp, teehee. Stay cool and I hope the sciatica pain eases up.

Michelle - Mel's right, bosses can be such PITA's! I had a couple mini-projects from the boss yesterday and the guidance was very vague, and in one case she got snippy when I asked for more information. It was something her boss wants and she obviously didn't get much detail from him and didn't want to follow up for more. Sigh. Sent a template and we'll see what he says. Good luck on your project - too bad you have to put in more time on it over the weekend. Oh well, it'll keep you out of trouble.

Ceejay - As long as the exercise is indoors with AC and not lawn mowing, go for it!! Hope the med adjustments set everything right for you.

Annie - Yeh, you are so right about the t-shirt since HD is another one of those stores in which the employees must acknowlege every customer in their path!!! BBB is like that too. Bah. Just have people around when I need them, but MYOB and do your own thing until I approach you. That sound like a breakfast pizza to me - just add a fried egg on top, LOL. Reminds me that we need to use some pizza dough we have in the freezer. Maybe tonight or tomorrow night. Hmmm. When you said go retro with the bathroom, I first thought, we already are retro, lol - partially. We still have the old kind of inset tp holder and soap holders and we're not ready to pull them out and patch the walls and install surface-mounted ones....then what came to mind was the old tables from Wendy's that had that old-timey newspaper design on them - do you remember that from, gosh, who knows how long ago? Wonder if they have wallpaper like that, LOL. Yeh, I'm so glad we'll be getting a break from this blasted heat!!!

Hellos to the rest of ya's.
===
Bf and I went to look at a headboard posted on craigslist last night - only a mile from the house, so what the heck. Unfortunately it wasn't the right shade of stain to blend with our BR set. Our BR set has a queen headboard with it, but it's been stored in the basement ever since we switched to a king bed years ago. I've been checking CL for a while now to see if a suitable king size headboard pops up. Not yet so far. We'll probably end up with a decorative metal headboard - no need to match wood stains.

Nothing going on tonight.

Tomorrow will hopefully be Jazzercise. We'll see how my right hamstring feels tomorrow - stepped off the bath mat from the shower this morning to turn on the fan and I slipped (didn't fall) and strained my hammie. Ouch.

Tomorrow afternoon is a memorial lunch for my friend's aunt. Sunday is a walk with one of my HS friends and then breakfast afterwards nearby, joined by two more HS friends. Definitely glad the weather will be mild on Sunday for our walk.

That's it for me. I have to "study" before a work lunch and see what else is out there. TTFN! Everyone have a great weekend.

Chelle, don't worry about us. Do what you need to do and post when you have time. Have a good training class!!

Just got back from my work lunch. When we stood to leave, we saw that none other than the mayor of Chicago was dining at the table across from us! Even more exciting that today being Friday, LOL.

Morning all,

Get this done before I tackle the filing again. I have emptied the filing cabinet, sorted everything into piles and today I will put it into date order and decided what I need to keep for the given 5-7-10 years (depending on who you speak to) and what I can get rid of now. Might have to go buy a new shredder. Damn. The home variety doesn't seem to last long and they cost a bomb. Anyway, this is what on my list of to do's today. It's too wet to go outside and I have some new lettuce to plant as well. Better put my steel caps on to go out the back. We have had some heavy rain.

Happy - winter here is normally blue skies, light winds, comfortable temps although cool at night. Mother Nature is highly hacked off with us apparently as this rainy weather just won't go away.
Glad to hear you don't have to do a route march to take the mum home. It should please the DH no end.

Laura - on the hamstring. Hope it comes right before the jazzercise class. Hope you find something for the headboard on the bed soon. Have you tried some of the second hand stores or thought about making one? Lunch next to the Chicago Mayor? Wonder what deal he was doing over lunch.

Michelle - hope the project gets up and running for you and that you can finish it in time.

Annie - Good lord, the ex didn't stay with me. I do draw the line at somethings. The ex stayed with DS2. He made noises at wanting to come back but I think I dissuaded him about that I think. He can't afford to come back anyway.
That must have been one colourful pizza you put together.

Mel - that is very naughty of you to try to persuade Laura to turn her walls red. Can't think of anything designed to keep me out of the bathroom for long periods of time.
Sorry to hear that you have to go door to door begging for pain relief. But that's what you get for trying to put red walls on Laura's loo.

Michelle - always, always, bosses have a different perspective as to how things should look, behave, and be used. Sometimes even the perspective is not possible.

Ceejay - Guess Uncle Sam will take a decent chunk of your hard work. It really annoys me that hard work on our part goes unrewarded. The harder you work the more the Tax office takes and pays it out to others not working or not deserving. Something screwy there.

Okay, we have a watery sunshine and a slight breeze out there, might try to get a wash out and see if I can get it dry. Catch you later.

You're gonna laugh....
I went to toss the garbage down the shoot and I met up with the pill popping neighbor woman.
She was on her way to my apt with the rest of the pills!!
She has no use for them and was going to hang them on my door in a discreet small BLACK plastic bag. ROFLMAO
Maybe I should have been a pharmacist!!!

Happy Weekend

This weather has to break. Cooler temps says the weatherman...right. Instead of 95 degrees out there it will only be 88 today. Go suck a goose egg Mr. Weatherman. The rain we are supposed to get today is hit or miss, mostly miss my little sector of the world. Bleh. My day will start later as my favorite movie is on Hallmark channel...Overboard with Goldie Hawn and yummy Kurt Russell.

MELLIE....today is the Good Witch marathon, so you kick back and watch. Also I am interested in watching a new series that starts tonight called something COVE at 8 pm est. It looks good with Andie McDowell.

SHADDIE...oh thank God you x did not stay with you. I was thinking for a brief moment you had reconsidered him. lol. Wish we had some of your rain and you had this sun and heat. I take my shred it stuff to work and shred it there. Much quicker with a heavy duty shreddit and if it wears out we just call repair.

LAURA...I got one of those 15% off grocery sacks in the mail from Menards. Anything you can fit in the bag is 15% off. I am going and putting two of the 100 oz Tide laundry soaps in it as I really do not need anything else that would fit into that bag. I just have to shower, get ready and go, of course after this Overboard movie.

CHELLE...may the forces be with you and you get everything accomplished this weekend. I have faith in you sister. You CAN do this....hugs

CEEG...hope you are enjoying much needed time off.

HAPPY....come out, come out where ever you are.....delivering mom? volunteering? gardening? Busy Bees need a break every now and then.

Later chickies....hugs
