Good Afternoon Ladies
Oh what a harried morning I had..I absolutely could not find parking on my street! Its very complicated here in our friggin city...anyway..I drove around in circles until I drove to work and did the same there...I finally drove to the permit office and had to buy a parking permit inorder to park on my street! Yes, you have to pay to park near your house. So 50 bucks later and 2 hours later...I finally had my parking permit and am now at work!
Ah.How frustrating..not only did I miss time off from work, paid for my parking permit, I had to take the bus back to work! More of a hassle owning a car...but when I am behind the wheel of my new beetle...boy, it sure puts a smile on my face. Ok...Taiwan...wow, scary earhtwake! And how come no water! Thats gotta suck..especially in hot water..I send you a big hug. Miki...I hope you feel better soon and amazing that you still worked out! Wow I am so inspired now cause the last week I have been very sluggish on the exercising although I am playing badminton tonight. Hey Newie...seems to me like you run a tight ship with the kids and good on you..or else ..they will run you...yikes. And all that moving around and lifting at work sure does count...its waayyy better than sitting at a computer all day long. Debee stay strong...the last few pounds are always the hardest...your body sure wants to hold on to them but keep at it. Ok ladies...as usual I am at work...I wish I was somewhere else today...its bright and sunny but not scorching hot ..so perfect weather to be outdoors! Big hug to you all and kudos on everyone for exercising and keeping me motivated to do the same..you ladies rock Cyan |
Hi folks!
Had a good day off today. Got my highlights done finally and yes, I did get in my Thigh workout this morning. Runny nose is a little better but my poor nose is red and almost peeling now. Looks lovely and I gotta work tomorrow.:^: Cyan, I cant even imagine that parking situation. That's enough to drive a person nuts for sure. $50 to park on your own street, wow. But just think how cool you look sitting behind that wheel as you drive around looking for an empty space.:D Deana, bless your heart. Having no water is awful! Right up there with no electricity. I hope that doesnt last long. A bat in the house and you keep exercising?? You just earned the new crown of Exercise Queen:queen: Bats are scary! No way I could just ignore it. Newie, sounds like you get in lots of exercise at work so dont feel too bad if sometimes you cant get it in at home. I have the 2 miles WATP tape and I loved it while I was doing it but got out of the habit once the weather here turned nice and I could get outdoors. Debee are you feeling better? (except for the slight burn in your shoulder where I'm propped up;) ) Hope you're being careful about what you're eating...I SEE YOU! lol Well, I have to work tomorrow and still need to iron, etc so I better get going. Miki |
Good Afternoon Girls
Last night I played badminton ...I still cant get over how much of a work out I get from it...so needless to say, this morning I had generalized soreness all over...but its wearing off quickly! Its another gray rainy day here in montreal...ugh!
Miki..you are the exercise queen as of late...i am so impressed by your motivation and determination to exercise even when you are not 100% It definitely keeps me motivated to do the same...what a great example you set for the rest of us. Keep going. Oh yes...my permit for parking runs out at the end of september...and then I gotta pay another 100 bucks for the whole year..so this year..it will cost me 150 for the priviledge of parking on my street! Well...tonight in honor of Miki's dedication to her exercise regime, I will cycle and lift weights! Have a great day everyone Cyan |
Hello girls. I'm so sorry I've been out again for awhile. I did start school again on June 2. Microbiology! :p I'm also taking an online course for Music appreciation. My Micro class is 4 nights a week 36 miles away in another town and it's 3 1/2 hours long. Needless to say there's studying to do for that class also.
Anyway, I've still been going to the YMCA every morning. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, I do 30 minutes on the treadmill and then my weights. I walk about 1.8 miles and burn about 210 calories plus whatever I burn doing the weights. On Tuesdays and Thursdays (my favorites) I do 60 minutes on the treadmill and walk about 3.8 miles and burn over 500 calories. I brink my walkman and I can tune in to a certain station to match up to one of the TV's on the wall. That's pretty cool....as long as all of the TV's arn't on sports!!! YUCK! Also, on Fridays, after my workout, I go swimming with the kids. It's great fun and a great reward for my week of hard work. Another bit of exciting news is that since Friday, I've lost SEVEN pounds!!!!:bravo: :cb: :cp: I know that's a lot for five days but I started the Adkins diet. I know that that has been a very controversial diet, but a friend of mine was over at my house and she's always been very large (325 pounds). I mentioned how good she looked and she told me that since March 9, she's lost 65 pounds! On Adkins! I bought the book and read it and it makes really good sense. I can't believe how good I feel and how easy it is. I feel like I'm cheating. I have some of the best food I've had on any diet. I can have butter!!! I can have bacon!!! I can have cheese!!! I could go on and on and if any of you want more details you can ask me...that way I don't bore you. Well, I will definitely keep posting more now that I have weightloss to share!!! See you later! Lisa |
Hi, everyone!!
I'm posting at night for a change--checked my messages this morning, and I couldn't get through to the site. I am also doing some of the computer end of my job from home now, and 6 a.m is when I like to work, so I was trying not to delete anything this morning. Just to tell you, I'm pretty much self-taught on computers, and sometimes I learn how to do things the hard way. Tuesday morning I accidentally deleted almost an entire file for the inventory part of my job and spent most of the day putting it back in, plus doing my other work. I only have two parts that I didn't have hard copies of to recreate, and they aren't urgent.
I do get a good workout at my job, and every day is different. Today I spent quite a bit of time scrambling on the floor, bending, stretching, etc. to count paper products we carry. For some reason, I am very sore tonight. I didn't do anything really unusual. The only thing different for me is that this morning I didn't do my walk. Maybe it's stiffness from NOT exercising that has me sore. I'm being reasonable with my food. I am more aware of my stomach telling me if I am hungry and listening to it. I've never had a very good relationship with my hunger sensation. I'd just keep eating no matter how full I felt. Anyway, the only other thing is that my kitchen sink is stopped up, and I've been using lots of drain cleaner without much success. Hubby did fix a leak that was part of the problem, but now it's the plug. I hope we don't have to call a plumber. I'd really like to get it opened up. I've got a back-up of dishes, of course. Lisa, you sound incredibly busy with classes. Keep a good balance. Miki, I'm glad you are getting better. Cyan--I thought Chicago was expensive--we pay $75 per year for a city vehicle tax for each car--we have two. I'm lucky that parking is free, and where I live, there's enough. Deana--that earthquake sounds scary. I once experienced the shuddering of a very mild earthquake. It was kind of weird feeling; I can't imagine what your experience was like. Well, it's time to go. I need to go to bed and start all over in the morning. Talk to you later. Bye for now. |
Wow Lisa...7 lbs??!!!!!!!:o I bet you are thrilled to death about that for sure. Lots of people here are on Atkins also. I had a friend who lost 100 lbs in 4 months!!!! She went from a size 22 to a 4! She is now giving classes out of her house for others and invited me to attend. I admit I was a little tempted to try it but honestly losing it so quickly made her look lots older. I dont need that.. Just be careful and dont do too much too fast.
Cyan, I am going to make a point of getting out that badminton set this weekend. I still havent tried it out. I actually almost forgot about it. It's in the trunk of my car..lol Newie, nothing makes me feel worse than a sink full of dirty dishes. Sometimes Im lazy and just stick them in there and I HATE waking up to them. I always wish I'd already done them so I feel for you having drain probs. Good for you for listening to your body concerning hunger. We all have to relearn that. That's really how it was meant to be, just as natural as breathing or anything else. We just abused it so much that the hunger mechanism quits working. Well all, hubby is rushing me to get off here and get ready for bed so I better go. Everyone have a good day tomorrow! Miki |
Good Morning Ladies
Its Grand Prix weekend here in montreal...so lots and lots of tourists and todo people in town to see formula one racing! I could actually here the race from my house...those engines on those cars are so loud...its like a constant distant buzz.
I have been physically hungry the last couple of nights...it happens as soon as I get into bed...I feel hungry...but thank goodness I dont get up from bed to go eat! I just roll over and sleep. Miki..you gotta try the badminton..it wont dissapoint. Lisa...you go girl..7 pounds! wowowowow...amazing...keep going! Newie..sorry to hear about your stopped up sink! I sometimes have problems with mine too...very disheartening. I wonder where LadyRider went to...how sad...I miss you..come back and post. Also, I was wondering how Anne was doing..I hope she is healing and getting stronger everyday. And remeber Cjunk? I hope she is doing well too Ok Ladies..as usual, I am at work...talk to you later Cyan |
Only have a minute for a quick post. Just got home from visiting my youngest sis in Shreveport, LA. Brought home my 2 yr old neice, Kaylen ( in the pic with me ) to stay with me til Saturday. She doesnt seem to be anywhere near ready for bed yet..lol I havent gotten a workout in but I was on the road driving for almost 6 hrs. I'm going to try to do my Stretch tape shortly if I can manage it with Kaylen.
Well, better run. I'll post more later... Miki |
Hi, all! I'm here--just checking in--no time to write lots this morning. Sink unplugged!!! Now we are going to use this enzyme stuff to keep it that way. More later. It's Friday!!:D
|
Good Morning Ladies
Its Friday! I love Fridays....I cant wait to chill and hang out this weekend and perhaps...do a little leisure driving!
Not much to report this week...so I hope everyone has a great weekend. Keep motivated and stay OP. bye ladies Cyan |
good morning ladies. Well, It's 9am and I just got out of bed! I love Fridays. I'm skipping my workout this morning, but I'm going swimming with the kids, so that's something.
I can't think of anything else to say.....so, I will post again later! Lisa |
Hi everybody!
Seems everyone has been busy the last few days. I havent been here since Thurs nite and Lisa, Newie, and Cyan had short posts on Fri and no posts since then. How is everyone's weekend?? Or how WAS everyone's weekend...it's almost over now. Mine was busy but fun having Kaylen around. She is just the cutest and we loved having her here. I took her home yesterday, and we miss her already. I have to admit she gave me a run for my money tho...I'm too old I think to have a 2 yr old fulltime.:dizzy: She even did my workout with me Thurs nite. I wish I had video'd her...she was adorable doing it. I didnt attempt yesterday's workout because I was worn out from chasing Kaylen for 3 days and from driving almost 6 hrs again yesterday taking her home and coming back so today I had to do yesterday's and today's both to get caught up. It wasnt too bad. Arms and Thighs. Cyan, I hope you were able to take that cruise around town this weekend. I know I'd be out showing off that new car! Newie, glad your sink is unclogged! Lisa, isnt it great sleeping til 9?? I've been off all but about 3 days the last 3 weeks and I got lazy. Starting tomorrow tho I have to work everyday for the next few weeks and I dread getting up early again. I'm NOT a morning person. Well folks, better fun. Looking forward to hearing about everyone's weekend. Bye for now Miki |
Hey girls. Wow, Miki, chasing a two year old does not sound fun. she sounds adorable though. This weekend has been good. I've done lots of homework and I ushered at the Wichita Music Theatre for the play, "Good News." It was a lot of fun.
Oh yeah...as of today...I've lost 9and 1/2 pounds!!! :bravo: I love this diet!! Well, got to go! Lisa |
Hi, everyone! I had a busy weekend too. Friday was extremely busy at work. There was lots of business--teachers coming in and buying materials for summer school--and paper products to put on the shelves. Saturday I spent running errands--got one of our cars serviced, went to the office for a couple of hours to get caught up on stuff, did grocery shopping, went to church. Sunday was a mixed bag kind of day, but busy. With Father's Day on, we made sure hubby got to start up his new grill and cook some hamburgers. We also gave him lots of space to do what HE wanted for the day--watch his rented video in peace and see his NASCAR race without others wanting the TV. (That worked for me just fine because I developed a PMS migraine headache and had to lie down for a couple of hours.) Late in the afternoon when I was feeling better, I took my older girl (12) shopping. She helped me pick out some clothes for myself, and I helped her pick out inexpensive make-up favors for 5 girls she has invited to our house next Saturday for a party. We also bought her first 2 "real" bras. Up till now she has been wearing sports bras. Then we shopped for stuff we needed in the house. I truly enjoy going shopping with her. It's a cool experience, as it's something my mother and I never did together.
I did NO exercising over the weekend, so I need to make a point of getting my walk in today. One of my legs is stiff (sciatica from my pregnancies), so it will help with that soreness. The weather yesterday was absolutely wonderful--mid 70s and breezy--so I am hoping it will be great walking weather this morning too. Miki, you are totally dedicated to the exercising--that is great! I don't know how you do it! Well, it's the start of another busy week. I also missed the posts over the weekend. It'll be great to hear from everyone again. Bye for now. |
Good Mornong Ladies
The weekend was so so weather wise..it rained on friday and saturday! finally on Sunday, we had a break in the weather. The Grand Prix also took place over the weekend and that was cool.
I exercised on saturday by doing heaving house cleaning and I cycled on Sunday! I also watched what I ate...so keeping on track which is great. Miki...chasing around children...where do you get the energy! Lisa ...wow congrats all 91/2 pounds lost! Seems like the atkins diet is working for you. How did you give up the carbs? I love carbs way too much to give up..so let us know how you are doing with the cravings if you are having any. Hi Newie...seems like you had a nice family weekend...its nice when you bond with your children ...must be real cool Well, as usual, I am at work...it is after all ...ugh! Monday morning...it is so sunny today...its a pity I have to be indoors. Okay, Ladies have a great one...I will cycle tonight for exercise! Cyan |
Just to let you all know, I am still alive:-) Just always busy here. Inlaws, sisterinlaw, niece (10months old) and nephew (almost 4yrs old, but totally not all there--seriously considered putting a leash on him when we went out) left this morning. They were here this weekend to celebrate Josiah's birthday a little early. We were supposed to go to the consulate tomorrow to get Joshua's new passport and renew Luke's visa for the states, but he let his expired long ago. Have to go to the north for that can't go south. Confusing I know.
I haven't exercised since Friday BUT been walking around, went to the hot springs/sauna with the inlaws. I will get back in the swing of things tomorrow. I did have someone ask if I lost weight. Nope, I haven't still teetering between 187 and 186 BUT I have lost at least an inch!! My clothes have been fitting better, so I am getting toned. Talk to you all later. Deana |
Hi everybody!
Well back to work today after a lots of time off...yuckkk...Had a very busy day at work so the day went by fast which was good. I got up early and did my Ab workout at 6 a.m. Had to be at work at 8. Anyway, hubby was ready to do his when he got home this afternoon at 5:30 so I did it again with him. :) I'm really working hard but as far as I can tell, my measurements are the same as they were on May 5. :( Still not giving up..No matter what!! It's got to be doing SOMETHING right?? Cyan, you didnt try to get into the Grand Prix with that new car did you?? Good for you for staying on track with your eating and exercise. Deana, glad to hear from you again! Girl, you sure stay busy! Never a dull moment around there huh? Lisa, WOWWWWWWWW!!! 9 1/2 lbs is awesome!! You have got to be on Cloud 9.:cloud9: I'm like Cyan, tho...just cant get to the point Im willing to give up my carbs. Believe it or not, chasing Kaylen was sooo much fun! I actually begged them to let her come. It's her first time to stay somewhere out of town without her mom or dad. Newie, what fun having a daughter to shop with. Somehow it's not the same shopping for clothes with 2 boys..lol Debee, where are you? How are things?? I just cant imagine what is up with LadyRider! I'm going to have to go back and see if she mentioned anything in her last post. It's not like her to be gone so long without a word.:?: When is Reina supposed to be back?? I bet she's having a blast. Well gotta go...hoping to find time tonite for a bubble bath.:D Miki |
Hi, everybody! Long day! Body is tired but mind isn't. That's not a good thing for me. Bad news--didn't get my walk in this morning. It's probably why I'm not relaxed mentally. I've been having a lot of trouble with my routine now that it's summer. Also, doing some of my work from home is taking up morning time--that's when I do it. I really miss the walk--haven't done it for three days. I really need to do it tomorrow. I need stable routine!! Speaking of unstable, I had McDonald's Quarter Pounder w/ cheese value meal for dinner tonight--on the way to girl dancing lessons, so I am feeling a bit heavy in the middle. Also, as you can probably tell from my tone here, I'm a bit crabby tonight. I can't remember if I mentioned that I am working on the perimenopause process--it's been happening with me probably for about 3 years now. I have "periods" of time (no pun intended) where I get my period every two or three weeks, and it's very annoying, and I get moody and crabby from the hormone imbalance and wearing overnight pads all the time--I need them--heavy flow. Well, I'm on my third period since May 10, and I'm kind of aggravated about the whole thing. A year ago I had a transvaginal ultrasound to check for fibroids--there were none; I'm a just normal 47-year-old in perimenopause--very aggravated though. Anyway, thanks for listening. I feel better having said it.
It was good to hear from everyone. It sounds like you are all busy with lots of stuff. I hope I'll feel better tomorrow. Later. |
Good Morning Ladies
Hey Miki...too funny...I dont think my little silver beetle or silver beega as I like to call her...could keep up with formula 1 race cars:lol: Good on you for working out so religiously....I know wht you mean though about not seeing results fast enough ...but dont give up...keep going like I have....slowly its starting to show up...and you will feel so much better....since I have started working out regularly, I havent gotten sick, I have more strenght, I have more flexibility and grace in my movements. At one point, I felt so heavy getting in and out of cars and I was heavy footed...and since I have been exercising, I am light footed, and getting in and out of cars feels very graceful. So look for all that to keep improving.
hey Newie...sorry to hear about your pre-menopausal journey! Just keep going with your exercises and your eating plan. You will feel better if your body is working well and strong. Hey Taiwan...are you back in the swing of things? I hope you got back to your routine...looking forward to hearing your next post telling us how much you have lost. As for me girls...I am still trying to lose weight...I will way myself at the end of june to see what the bloody scales says. But its been tough losing the weight...I think so far, its been one of the toughest things I am doing. It will be nice to acheive this goal. Okay Ladies, as usual, i am at work so I best get back to it. have a great day Cyan |
hi ladies,
I'm back...busy few weeks...lost our cat and went on search and rescue. He showed up at the Spca yesterday and got him back today. Both Jimmy and Jakes birthdays are next week and mine is on wednesday so I have been very busy buying gifts and party planning...Jimmy is having his party at a mini golf, arcade and Jake's is at home. Jake wanted a G.I. Joe party so I have been busy transforming the garage into a barracks, Jimmy and a few of his 8 year old friends will be drill sergants..of courrse I am the general and Jake as birthday boy is commander-in chief. Weight wise although I `have been busy running around, staining the deck, painting lawn funiture, gardening and getting ready for the party I have not been formally exercising. My weight is still between 129-131 and has been for months. Wednesday is my goal deadline and I had hoped to be 110-115. Hopefully I can revise my deadline and lose by Sept. 1 an additonal 15 pounds. If I cold lose 5 a month during the summer it would be great. On a sad note my next door neighbor is doing much worse her body is filled with cancer and now it is eating into her small intestine and she coughs up bile every ten minutes. I am so upset she is a wonderful lady and it looks like she may not last the month. It makes you thankful for all the little things in life and makees you realize what is really important...friends, family, memories. Hope to be able to post more nexxtx week. |
Hey, everybody! I walked this morning!! Only 1 1/4 miles, not 1 1/2--short on time--but it felt so good! Immediately the warmth in my legs helped menstrual cramps I have been having feel better, and I noticed my head was clearer all day. I was calm inside today too, not hyperactive, which was how I was Monday. I think I'll sleep well tonight too.
I know what you mean, Cyan, about how different and better exercise makes you feel. I've been walking for close to a year--I even did it when I could in the winter!! I too have not been sick--no cold at all for a year! That has never happened to me before. And I just feel better about my body, even if I don't lose any weight (and I usually don't). I feel strong (work helps there) and light and agile. I have endurance and better self esteem. Exercise helps me with my moods (and I do have those with that perimenopause thing going on) and when I have trouble sleeping. It was the way walking made me feel that helped me decide that HEALTH was my top goal, rather than a number, though the number would be nice too. And I do also agree that it can take a long time for results to show with exercise. It took months for my pants to feel a little looser, but it finally happened. A year ago, I wore an 18 pants; now a 16 does just fine for me. So keep it up with the exercise, Miki!! The results you can see will come in time, and in the meantime you are getting an immediate result--HEALTH!! Well, time for me to go--talk to you all later. Bye! |
Hi all....
Newie, I feel for you having so much trouble. I had problems with my periods from the very beginning. They were horrible from 7th grade up until my hysterectomy at age 30. I wouldnt trade that surgery for a million bucks! I was hospitalized more than once during my teen years and had 2 DNC's before I was 18 because of my problems. I once went for 6 weeks without stopping. Needless to say, I was terribly anemic by that time. used to say I would go for 3 weeks and have one off instead of the other way around. ) Cyan, I'm definitely not going to give up. You're my inspiration to keep going with this exercise. I do feel better whether I look better or not.:D Debee, you're one creative mom! Your kids are lucky. Sounds like a very busy week you have planned. Is your birthday the 25th? or Wed as in tomorrow? Sorry to hear your neighbor is worse rather than better. That's really sad. Well, I didnt get to have my bubble bath last nite so I was smart today. I came home and did that FIRST! Now I've got the rest of the nite to relax..yessss :) Nite everybody... MIKI |
Well, can't write much right now as I have school with Joshua in 15min and I haven't prepared much. I love homeschooling him and hope we can keep it up during elementary on up.
Did 16min on the stepper yesterday and then about 8min of arms and a few butt exercises. Today, if Josiah is awake, I will go to the school and walk and then play ball. I had lots of fun last week playing (and no one thought I could really make some baskets). I really need to get my eating under control. Of course, TTOTM is coming soon so I mainly need to get my sweets under control. Didn't drink any water yesterday, not good but will today. I will try to write more, promise, just busy. And today is Josiah's first birthday. Last night rushed him to the pediatrician (our normal one is out of town--boohoo!!!). He woke up yesterday with some bug bites of somekind, his eye was swollen and his hands and bites on his legs (he swells anytime he gets bitten by anything). Well, a friend brought balloons for him last night and suggested taking him to the dr. I was like, well I dunno, then I saw his knee---oh my twice the normal size, so we were off. DH and the kids were at Japanese class so I had to be brave and go to the hospital (dr's offices are there) by myself. Turns out he has had an allergic reaction to whatever bit him. Dr gave benadryl and sent us home. So josiah is probably going to sleep his birthday away!!! Yup! never a dull moment at our house. |
good morning ladies
hey Debee...good to hear from you...keeping active is better than not...so keep doing your thing even if its not "formal" exercising. I am truly sorry to hear about your neighbor...so sad, I hope she is surrounded my loving family and friends. I will say a prayer for her.
Hey Miki...you will feel better way faster than the looking part in terms of pounds coming off...but the pounds will follow....I have learned that the hard way...slowly but surely, I am losing the friggin stubborn weight. so keep at it. And Miki....you are a babe...at any weight...so repeat after me...I am one hot woman! hear me roar! Hey Taiwan....wish Josiah a happy first birthday! I hope the little guy is feeling better from that allergic reaction he had. Stay motivated and keep exercising..your body will thank you for it Hey Newie...isnt it cool how much stronger you feel just from simple walking? I too have noticed great improvements like that...sometimes you take health for granted and before you know it...everything is hard..so I plan on keeping this ole body of mine in the best shape as possible. Ok ladies, as usual, I am at work, so I best get back to it Cyan Have a great op day everyone |
Just a note to say hi again. We had a great little party time. Anyone who wants a pix give me your e-mail and I will send you pix.
I did walk at a good pace for 20min today. I was going to play ball, but no one was watching Josiah, so back to being a mom. Did have a little cake though. My eating is what is killing me. Funny, even my fosterteens mentioned tonight that I look thinner. Not losing weight but an inch is fine with me:-) Gotta go girls. |
Hello all!:) Deanna, sounds like you're party was great. I would love to see pix. My e-mail is [email protected]
Cyan, you're right about keeping your body in the best possible shape. As we get older our bodies turn on us. If we don't keep it in check...well...it's not pretty:p Miki, I was shocked by all the problems you had with your period growing up. I had one after I stopped breastfeeding my daughter that lasted 4 weeks and so they finally did a D&C. I can't imagine having that most of my life!:o Newie...good for you for walking. It does feel good. I use my time on the treadmill and doing weights to just let all my cares go out the window. It is a great stress relief!;) I must have missed the message about where Reina went. Where did she go??? I miss Lady. I hope she comes back soon. Maybe I will e-mail her and see what's up! I've been doing well. Keeping busy....not that keeping busy is hard for me lately. I'm still going to the YMCA every morning. I'm also still doing Adkins. I stopped weighing everyday because any fluctuation stressed me out...so once a week now. Last I checked I was still at about a 9 pound weightloss. :cb: Well, I'll talk at y'all later! Lisa |
Good Morning Ladies
This week has gone by too fast....just the other day it was monday and now...its thursday!
I cycled last night for 30 minutes...8.8km on the bike...a good workout. I also ate within my limits...except I had cheese puffs:o about a handful of them...I was bored ..so I ate them. Lisa good to hear that you are maintaining your 9 pounds lost thus far...keep going! I know what you mean about the obsessive weighing...at one point I was jumping on the scale at least twice per day....so for me, it was not good to see the daily fluctuations. Well as usual, at work, so have a great day everyone and stay OP later cyan |
Hi everyone! :)
Busy week for me too. My cousin Vicki, who also happens to be my best friend, came in this week from California. She just moved there in October. Until then we have always lived within 5 miles of each other. Needless to say, we've had lots of catching up to do. Her new boyfriend came with her, and last nite he cooked for all of us...chicken stir fry and homemade shrimp fried rice. I made lemon icebox pie for dessert. A co-worker of mine, Cathy, is moving to LasVegas so today we had her going away party. Lots of food of course. I made chicken enchiladas for that. This week hasnt been my best foodwise.:^: We have a big family reunion this Saturday so that means MORE food! Still exercising but after the reunion, I'm planning on getting back into a much stricter eating plan. Losing the first 40 lbs just seemed to happen but I cant seem to get anymore of them to budge. I know muscle weighs more than fat but regardless of that, I need to lose 40 more to be at a healthy weight. Deana, do you homeschool all year round?? You amaze me with all you deal with. I'm thinking of nicknaming you Job...lol There's no way I have enough patience for homeschooling. Glad ya'll had a nice party. I'd love to see pics! My email is [email protected] or [email protected]. Lisa, that stinkin scale does me the same way...if it's down, I'm in a great mood..if it's up even half a lb, I'm disappointed or mad. I still cant seem to make myself quit looking at it tho. I am one hot woman...I am one hot woman...I am one hot woman...Ok Cyan, I'm repeating it....if only I could convince myself.:dizzy:  Tomorrow is Friday..HOORAYYYYYYYY!! Oh wow, and I just realized that this Sunday is my anniversary. (19yrs ) I think we're just going to have Vicki and her b/friend over to play cards or something tho since she's only here til Tues and wont be back until next summer. Well girls...talk to ya later! Miki |
Hi, everyone! Sorry I missed you yesterday. I had a long, busy day rearranging displays in the store, and I was bushed! I think the two previous days also contributed to it as well. I've been driving my older girl Veronica to flute lessons after work on Tuesdays for almost a year now, so I'm used to Tuesday being a really long day, but this week we started a four-week summer dance program for both Veronica and my younger girl Kathleen in the evening on Mondays. Each drive is about 30 minutes each way, plus the time waiting for the lesson, so that adds about 1 1/2-2 hours to my day. It usually takes me a few weeks to get used to a new evening activity so my body can adjust. So when you take two nights out plus a busy day yesterday, that adds up to big fatigue. I didn't even walk this morning, which turned out not to be a good thing. Nothing bad happened to me moodwise, but I could tell that for the first hour of work, my head just wasn't as clear as I wanted it to be. My body really likes that exercise!!
I've also been doing a bit of extra housework this week too because Veronica is going to have 5 of her girlfriends over on Saturday evening for a little girl party, and I am trying to get the place straightened up. Kathleen was invited to a sleepover the same night, and Dad is going to dinner and a movie on his own. I think it will be fun to have a girl party in our house. As far as my food is going, I've made some good choices and some poor ones. I'm much more vulnerable to poor choices when I am tired. I think they have been minimal this time. I am going to be sure to walk tomorrow morning; I'll keep track again of how I feel during the day after I have walked to see if there really is a difference between a morning with walking and a morning without walking. I'll report my results. Gee, sounds like a scientific experiment!! Miki, wow--that was rough for you with your cycles--and to need a hysterectomy so young!! My basic problem with menstruation before my kids were born--at age 34 and 38--was terrible cramps on the first day--I was so thrilled when Motrin was invented! I know that the symptoms I experience now are very normal for a woman my age--my reproductive system is just winding down to a state of sleep. It can just be annoying at times. What always used to be true for me in that area keeps changing all the time. It's the unpredictability of it all that I sometimes have trouble keeping on top of. And I am aware that heavy periods can cause anemia, so all the more reason for me to live a healthy lifestyle. Deana, how scary about Josiah's allergic reaction to the bug bite! That would really give me the creeps. I am glad the doctor was able to help the situation. Well, I'm out of gas. I'm going to hit the sheets early tonight, and get a good walk in tomorrow morning. Bye for now. |
Good Morning Ladies
its Friday! I love Fridays! I played badminton last night...I had my opponent, Ivano down on bended knee he was so tired from all that running around...plus he's getting over a cold. I'm telling ya ladies...badminton is one great cardio workout.
The bad news...I ate a big mac before I went to work out:o My father bought it so it was waiting for me when I got home from work....So I couldnt throw it out...My Dad bought it for me. Down the hatch it went..no fries thought...just the Mac. As usual, every friday...or so it seems its Sushi Day...so i will go get some for lunch. And this sunday...its my first hike of the season...we are head to Mont Tremblant...a mountain in the laurentians to hike down it...it usually takes 2 hours...very arduous 7.6km hike....this means that I will be in lots of pain for a few days afterwards from all the anaerobic exercising my legs will get. Hey Miki...it must be very nice to have your best friend and cousin in town. And 40 pounds weight loss doesnt just happen...you have worked very hard at it...and :cb: and horray for you...dont forget to recognize your hard work and determination. And, as you might already be aware, the closer you get to your ideal weight, the harder it gets to lose weight..but keep at it...even if it takes a year...anyway, dont you feel better exercising and eating healthy? Your body, husband, kids, family and friends will thank you in the long run...You will just stay healthy for a very long time and be able to move around with ease....and thats huge...quality of life. So keep that in mind. Hey Newie, I hope you get some rest this weekend...sleep will ya do you good. I hope you feel rested soon. What are your plans for the weekend? hey Debee, Lisa, LadyRider, Taiwan, Rheina...come post soon and let us know how you are doing...big hug to you all. Cyan |
Hi Ladies,
Just a quick note before the next party for my son Jimmy. Yesterday it rained all day so we had to have Jakes party in the garage. I converted it into a G.I. Joe barracks and had a big cardboard red cross building, recruiting center and battle prepareness area, for party favors all the kids got helmets, water bottles, dog tags, first aid kits with fruit roll up bandaids...., my husband was the general and I was commander in chief...I got to wear a whisle all day...my new favorite piece of jewerly. Jake loved the party and had a great time! I'll try to e-mail some photos. Jimmy party is at noon today and will be at a mini-golf arcade place. Hopefully next week I'll have more time to post! |
Hi, all! Just checking in before I finish preparations for my 12-year-old daughter Veronica's "girl" party this evening. She's having 4 of her friends over today from 3 to 10 p.m.--volleyball, badminton, eating, playing music, doing crafts, giving manicures--all adolescent girl stuff on the agenda. Eight-year-old Kathleen is going to a sleepover at her friend's house, and Dad will go to church, dinner, and a movie on his own. I am the party coordinator and supervisor, though Veronica is the actual hostess. I just have to get the grass cut and finish a few things in the house. Veronica has done much of the cleaning herself, and I will have her prepare her fruit/veggie tray. We're ordering a pizza, and we'll also have some junk food--chips, cookies, etc. One of the girls is diabetic, so I bought a couple of sugar free treats for her. Anyway, it will be fun. My only stumbling block is another of those perimenopausal symptoms I deal with--migraine headaches. I get them before and/or after my period and sometimes if I ovulate. Well, it's the end of my period, and one arrived last night. I take ibuprofen every three hours and drink lots of water, eat protein, and lie down when I can, so it should be gone by late this afternoon. Getting some exercise therapy in the yard will help too. It's not going to stop my good day.
A report on walking--yesterday I did my 1 1/2 miles, went in to work, and I felt so much more prepared to handle problems than if I hadn't walked. My head really was more focused. It was a very interesting result of my scientific experiment and reinforcement of my goal of eating healthy and exercising for health first and weight loss if it happens. Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend. Looking forward to all your posts. Bye for now. |
Hi everybody!
Wow..I cant believe it's Sunday already and I havent posted since Thurs nite. The time flew by! Today is my 19th wedding anniversary. Instead of doing something alone, Phil and I took the kids to see "The Hulk" and then to eat Chinese. Yesterday was the family reunion then last nite Vicki and her b/friend, my sis and her husband and kids came over and played cards. Friday nite after work I went shopping so I've had a busy last several days. Not looking forward to Monday to come around so soon but ready to be back on a regular schedule. My eating has also been terrible with so much going on so starting tomorrow, back to business with that also!! I did get my exercise in until today...:^: Debee, even with the rain, that GI Joe party sounds like it turned out great. I love the whistle...smart idea. How was Jimmy's party? Cyan, how was your first hike of the season? Will you be able to get out of bed to go to work tomorrow?? I doubt I could! Newie, I hope your headache got better before time for the party. Sounds like you have a fun time planned for the girls. Glad you were able to get that walk in before work. I know it made you feel better. How was everyone else's weekend? Looking forward to hearing from all of you soon! Miki |
Good Morning Ladies
It Monday! Mondays are always hard for me.
Hey Miki..I did go hiking in 98 degree weather...a 5km hike down Mont Tremblant..the highest peak in the Laurentians...boy was it tough...but odly enough, it was the easiest hike thus far for me...my legs dont hurt...I do have a generalized soreness all over my body but it is very light and it doesnt really bother me. So, all I can say is that I am in better shape physically than I have been in a long time. I just want to weight to drop off. I guess slowly but surely is better than nothing at all. Well as usual I am at work but tomorrow...its a holiday for us Quebecer's...it's St Jean Baptiste Day..or as the nationalists like to call it...La Fete Nationale....National Day! Looking forward to hearing from all of you so come on back soon and post away Cyan |
Hello girls! How is everyone. Did everyone have a great weekend??? Well, Friday evening, my hubby, kids and I went to my mother-in-law's and put a tent in the back yard. About 10pm we got in the tent....but it was sooooooo stinky. Jeff's dad gave it to us a year or so ago because someont puked in it. Well, we had washed it but obviously that smell doesn't go away! :p I couldn't find any air freshner, but I found some body spray and I sprayed and sprayed. It would help for about two minutes. I only lasted about 30 minutes and then I went inside. My kids and hubby stayed out there until about 6 am when they came inside and crawled into bed with me. Needless to say we threw the tent away.
Saturday, we were kind of lazy. We got some housework done and layed around. Sunday was church, dinner at in-laws and home. Now....it's MONDAY. Back to homework, studying and school. It would be really nice to be called in for a job interview. Well, that's enough babbling from me. I've lost 10 and 1/2 pounds!! See y'all later!!! Lisa |
Lisa, you are doing so well with your new diet! Keep up the good work. I need to get back on track as well. Didnt do too bad foodwise today but yesterday and today I missed my workouts. Why cant I seem to get them both right at the same time?? :dizzy:
Cyan, you are definitely in shape to do that hike and not have really sore legs. That generalized soreness is what I like to feel..not too much to prevent me from doing more but enough so that I feel I've accomplished something. Where is everyone else?? :?: I'm really getting worried about Ladyrider. This isnt like her at all. Well today was a very long and busy day and I just got home. It's after 9:30 and I still have lots to do before bedtime. I'll try to post more tomorrow. MIKI |
Hi, everybody! Sorry I didn't get to post yesterday, but it was a very long day. I first went to work, then took my daughter to orthodontist--1 hour from home--then went right to girls' dance lesson. I didn't get home till almost 8 p.m. I am also having to figure out how to balance this new working at home thing I am doing--at this point, the thing that is getting cut out as I readjust is my walk, which I don't like one bit!! I missed yesterday, but I'm getting out there this morning for sure.
My daughter's party was absolutely great. I got a great workout getting the yard ready for it, and then I just sat back while the party happened, except for playing waitress, security--when the water balloon game started to become the hose spraying game-- and craft consultant. My little one ended up being in on the action too because her sleepover was postponed due to sickness of hostess. Even she had a good time, and didn't cramp the style of the older ones. It's great to read everyone's posts. Even though I don't have time to reply individually like I'd like to, they all encourage me immensely. It would be so easy to slack off during this period of adjustment I am going through. By the way, my 1 pound stayed off for two weeks. I wasn't sure it would. It often comes back. Well, got to go hit the track! Talk to everyone later. Have a great day all!:) |
good morning Ladies
I had a nice holiday yesterday but now I think its monday all over again ugh!
I went to a bbq at my friend's house...man was it hot and sunny...so now I have a sun rash! I am allergic to the sun and first exposure...I break out in a tiny red rash all over the exposed area! It hurts..it hurts. I did alright food wise too...when it gets too hot, you just dont feel like eating as much. Its gonna be another scorcher today but thank goodness I am in an air conditioned environment....otherwise known as work! hey Miki...I agree...where is LadyRider...does anyone have her email address ... maybe we should email her and see whats up. Hey Newie..good to hear that your daughters had a great party. Lisa...how hard is it to stick to this diet? Have you had any cravings? Let us know Well, as usual, I am back at work..so I best get to it big hug to all and have a great op day everyone Cyan |
Hi everyone..
I have a confession again...I havent exercised since Saturday!:o I just cant seem to get up in time to do it before work then by the time I finish everything I have to do afterwards, I am too tired to do it. One thing that didnt help is that my sis has been on vacation and hubby has been doing karate (he was a black belt at one time and is teaching the kids some) so I havent had a partner to do my tapes. I know, I know...why dont I do karate? Guess that's just excuses huh?:^: Anyway, I only have to work 3 days next week so hopefully by then if not before, I'll get back into it. I was doing so well, I just hate that I've gotten out of the habit the last 3 days. Debee, Happy Birthday!!!!!:gift: :hb: :hat: Hope you had a wonderful day today!! Newie, glad to hear the party was a success. It's nice that both of your daughters were able to get along and have a good time. Cyan, it's hot here too. I just finished grilling some steaks and it was sooo hot out there! You sound like me about it seeming like Monday...I'm always thrilled we're off for a holiday but it seems like you always have to make up for it so much at times, it doesnt quit seem to be worth the time off. I'm going to have to go back and read some old posts...maybe on our old thread and see if I can find Ladyriders email. Too bad we dont know her real name so we could check on her. Same with Cjunk...here one day and not the next.:?: Lisa, Reina, Deana...how are you girls doing? Great I hope. Gotta run for now folks...be back later tonite if time permits. Miki |
Hi, all! Trying to get a short post in before work today.
Miki--I know exactly how you are feeling about the exercise. I've only walked on Tuesday this week. I'm adjusting to this new working at home schedule that is part of my job now--more hours to work, plus they are at home (thank goodness I am getting paid more too). I do it in the morning because right now I just can't do it in the evening after spending all day with it at the office, but often by the time I get done, it's time to get ready for work, and I've been having trouble getting my walk in because I feel really rushed. And then at night when I get home, I can't motivate myself to take the walk, though it would be great for me, or there's someplace to go--music or dance lessons for the girls, volunteer work as a bingo operator at the school, doctor appointments--you name it. And if it's hot--which it has been the last two days--then I don't want to do it even more. This morning it's raining, and in the afternoon will be nice--cooler. I'm going to see if I can do it this afternoon even before I walk in the door after work--kids are at Grandma's today. I really feel the difference in my mind and body when I do it. I also know I have my WATP tapes, but that's a whole different habit to get into, and I'm having trouble just with the first one. Cyan--I feel your pain with the sun. I don't get rash, but I burn easily, and I've had my share of burns--one dangerously severe about 20 years ago. My problem is that I hate the way sunscreen feels on my skin, so I don't wear it. Usually these days, I either stay out of the sun altogether, or if I am working in the yard, I only allow my forearms to be exposed, and I wear this huge brimmed straw hat that ties under the chin. I've looked in the mirror with it on, and I know I look silly (my husband won't be seen with me in it), but it beats the sunburn and all that goes with it. Well, got to go. Great reading your stuff every day. Thanks, ladies!:) |
