Good morning all
Sher & Deb...Your doing so good on your OP...The pic's prove it. wished I could say the same about myself. My Sis,Daughter and I are going to Fld. in late June can't wait... Sorry for some of the hardships some of you have been going thru. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Been enjoying my new car...Feel like a grown up with it and not depending on hubby....Now if can just keep daughter out of it. She gets really mad when I tell her NO....but you know what to bad. Everyone have a good week. Vicki A Smile goes a long Way!!! |
Glad to hear from ya Vicster, you little hot rodn' mamma! Sounds like you love the car! So happy to hear that you have your own new toy! Enjoy it!!
Sher: Your loss sounds about right. Your averaging a 2 pound loss per week plus you are gainng muscle from the exercise. Have you taken your measurements? Have I told you that I think your doing SUPER?? Titan Dee: Had to chuckle over the "double dose" comment! Busy day today, getting ready to ship the hubby out again until Thursday. Funny, he can sit around here all Winter, then when we have tons of yard work and house stuff to be done, thats when he ends up out of town! |
Thought I would share these "Home Remedies" with you.You never know...do you? ;)
1. Drinking two glasses of Gatorade can relieve headache pain almost immediately, without the unpleasant side effects caused by traditional pain relievers. 2. Did you know that Colgate toothpaste makes an excellent salve for burns. 3. Before you head to he drugstore for a high-priced inhaler filled with mysterious chemicals, try chewing on a couple of curiously strong Altoids peppermints. They'll clear up your stuffed nose. 4. Achy muscles from a bout of the flu? Mix 1 Tablespoon of horseradish in 1/2 cup of olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes, then apply it as massage oil, for instant relief of aching muscles. 5. Sore Throat?? Just mix 1/4 cup of vinegar with 1/4 cup of honey and Take 1 Tablespoon six times a day. The vinegar kills the bacteria. 6. Cure urinary tract infections with Alka-Seltzer. Just dissolve two tablets in a glass of water and drink it at the onset of the symptoms. Alka-Seltzer begins eliminating urinary tract infections almost instantly-even though the product was never been advertised for this use. 7. Eliminate puffiness under your eyes... All you need is a dab of Preparation H carefully rubbed into the skin, avoiding the eyes. The Hemorrhoid ointment acts as a vasoconstrictor, relieving the swelling instantly. 8. Honey remedy for Skin Blemishes...... Cover the blemish with a dab of honey and place a Band-Aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and speeds healing. Works overnight. 9. Listerine therapy for toenail fungus....Get rid of unsightly toenail fungus by soaking your toes in Listerine mouthwash. The powerful antiseptic leaves your toenails looking healthy again. 10. Easy eyeglass protection....To prevent the screws in eyeglasses from loosening, apply a small drop of Maybelline Crystal Clear nail polish to the threads of the screws before tightening them. 11. Coca-Cola cure for rust...Forget those expensive rust removers. Just saturate an abrasive sponge with Coca-Cola and scrub the rust stain. The phosphoric acid in the coke is what gets the job done. 12. Cleaning liquid that doubles as bug killer....If menacing bees, wasps, hornets, or yellow jackets get in your home and you can't find the insecticide, try a spray of Formula 409. Insects drop to the ground instantly. 13. Smart splinter remover.....just pour a drop of Elmers Glue-all over the splinter, let dry, and peel the dried glue off the skin. The splinter sticks to the dried glue. 14. Hunt's tomato paste boil cure....Cover the boil with Hunt's tomato paste as a compress. The acids from the tomatoes soothe the pain and bring the boil to a head. 15. Balm for broken blisters.....To disinfect a broken blister, dab on a few drops of Listerine....a powerful antiseptic. 16. Heinz vinegar to heal bruises...Soak a cotton ball in white vinegar and apply it to the bruise for 1 hour. The vinegar reduces the blueness and speeds up the healing process. 17. Kills fleas instantly. Dawn dishwashing liquid does the trick. Add a few drops to your dog's bath and shampoo the animal thoroughly. Rinse well to avoid skin irritations. Goodbye fleas. 18. Rainy day cure for dog odor....Next time your dog comes in from the rain, simply wipe down the animal with Bounce or any dryer sheet, instantly making your dog smell springtime fresh. 19. Eliminate ear mites....All it takes is a few drops of Wesson corn oil in your cat's ear. Massage it in, then clean with a cotton ball. Repeat daily for 3 days. The oil soothes the cat's skin, smothers the mites, and accelerates healing. 20. Vaseline cure for hairballs.....To prevent troublesome hairballs, apply a dollop of vaseline petroleum jelly to your cat's nose. The cat will lick off the jelly, lubricating any hair in its stomach so it can pass easily through the digestive system. 21. Quaker Oats for fast pain relief....It's not for breakfast anymore! Mix 2 cups of Quaker Oats and 1 cup of water in a bowl and warm in the microwave for 1 minute, cool slightly, and apply the mixture to your hands for soothing relief from arthritis pain. |

Jennelle,
I know you are happy!!!!! Lucky You!!!!!!!!!!! :D |
Need an opinion! My 13 year old daughter has been invited to fly to NJ with a friend this summer. We don't have the money, but she does in the bank from her Bat Mitzvah. I hate for her to waste the money on airfare, but I just don't have it. What do you think? I would think the total trip would cost about $500.00 with meals and whatever other stuff she goes to. She has $1200.00 in the bank right now. She really wants to go and wants to spend her money. They will be staying with the friend's aunt, so it won't cost for hotels or meals. She lives on a farm. What do you girls think?
Thanks for the opinions!! |
Shelley,
I would say YES! Please let her go! It's her money and she'll only be using about 500.00 of it.Explain to her that she'll only have 700.00 left and that she'll have to keep that in the bank to save.I know at age 13 you aren't responsible but if this is how she wants to spend the money, I would let her go. Since you know the parents and trust them with your child, I don't see why she couldn't have a great time! So.....My opinion is: YES! :D |
Shelley, if you feel like you can really trust the people that she will be with, then I would say go for it. This will give her a few opportunities that she might not otherwise have, such as getting to experience farm life. Like Sherry said, it won't be wiping out all of her savings, just a portion. And from experience, whatever amount she takes...she will come back with almost zilch!!! But, she will have fun, learn a few things and will make a few memories. BTW: From what you have written before, it sounds like she is a very responsible young lady, so Mom & Dad should be just fine at home!
|
I agree with all of the above - let her go! It will be a good experience for her.
|
Ditto ..on what the others have said....She sounds like a level headed girl.

Okay...I can't remember who all is doing WW on here...Shelley? Anyhow...I have a question that I tried to get answered on both the WW website and the WW board on here, to no avail.
Lite microwave popcorn is 1 Point for 3 cups. That should mean that 9 cups (a whole bag) is 3 Points. However, when I enter it in as 3 servings on the WW Online journal, it counts it as 5 Points. Now, someone has explained that it's because the Points calculator stops at 4 g. of fiber, so that skews that numbers. However, no one can tell me what I want to know: Do I really count it as 5 points, or as 3? To me, it makes no sense to have it equal one amount if I eat it all at once and another amount if I were to eat, say, 3 cups 3 times a day. (BTW, I have also run into this problem with snow peas....1 c. = 0 Points but 2 c. = 1.5 Points.) Help! |
Jennelle, it's been awhile since I followed the WW points program, but I still have my notebook. I counted Orville R. 98% fat free microwave bag as 4 points. It's my understanding that yes, only count up to 4 fiber. Years ago you could count all the fiber, but then people wondered why they were not losing as quickly. I notebook also shows 3 cups of air popped at 1 point. BTW: Who ever got fat off of snow peas??? I did hear that WW is incorporating more of the Atkins thinking and changing some point values....maybe this is why snow peas count as more points? The natural sugar?
|
Jennelle look at the caloric value on the side of your popcorn box. I count 1 point for 50 cals.
Shelley I would let her go too. It will be a learning experience. Like to be able to post to you all but I have to go get ready for tea time. Yes Sherry I am a spoiled princess! DEE |
Shelley, I vote with everyone else. You are only young for a short while and when you grow up and enter the real world, you don't always have the opportunities to do the "fun" things in life. It will be a trip she will never forget.
|
Thanks for all your answers!! It looks like it unanimous (sp?) that I should let her go!!
Jennelle-I can't help you, because I only eat air popped corn. I eat the whole container (I use a microwave container to pop it in) and I count it as 3 points. I would say to be on the safe side to count it as the 5 points, but that's just my opinion. BTW, what board over there do you post to ususally? I only am on the Close to Goal board. |
Shelley--Whoo-hoo--let the girl go!! Sounds like a great experience for her!
Jennelle--on the WW forum here on this web-site there is a thread that deals with popcorn points. I would so totally check that out. I'm not sure how far from the top of the forum it is, so you'll have to search for it probably. I think it's on the points & other issues thread (OSLT). We did get a few storms over the week-end (actually, it was more like one long continuous storm....:( ) The town of Harrisburg, which is less than 20 miles from where I was at the time got the roof of their high-school gym blown off--during graduation ceremony!!!! I drove thru there on Saturday and "Dang" is all I have to say about that! I spent the night in Morrilton last night, and Conway, or at least the outskirts of it, looked pretty bad, too!! I think we've had enough rain to last us awhile :) The interview went OK today! Of course there are questions that I feel I could've answered differently, but I'm not gonna stress over it NOW!! The only bad thing about it is that I was the 1st of 22 applicants being interviewed. That means that there'll be 21 folks who'll have the chance to make the panel forget all about me :( Bummer!!!! Hope everyone is doing well and staying OP. I haven't been, haven't walked any, either, because of the weather! Cheryl |

If you set it to "Half Points" mode, it comes out to 2.5 points. Using the "Whole Points" mode gives the 2 points. |
Ramona I just want to tell you that buy those two books is very sweet of you. It will keep her memory alive.

Wow, Cheryl, thanks for all the popcorn info! :D

Sherry,
I just saw your post about being frustrated because you have only lost 17 lbs. in 2 months. Well I can totally relate because I have lost 19 lbs. in 3 months...but, hey, it beats gaining or staying the same! Plus, I keep on reminding myself that if it comes off slowly chances are that you are going to keep it off. I also have strayed a couple of times so I don't feel like I am being deprived. For me, that is important because in the past when I dieted, I used to binge when I went off program. Now I do it with awareness and have been able to get right back on track. Tomorrow marks one month until we go to Hawaii...yeeeehaaaa! |
I was ready to quit yesterday. I get to school at 6:30, and read all my emails. Do this, do that, have everything done by May 30 or sooner!! I HATE THIS TIME OF THE YEAR!! It seems that everyday my job gets bigger for the same money!!! I wish I had the skills to go get something else. I will probably be tied to this school forever!!
Today I start journaling again because now my weight is back up to 130 ( I just started TOM yesterday.) I have been in a horrible mood, ready to cry and *****!! My principal keeps calling me an old woman, which is really making me want to cry!! She is older than me! Do I sound really down? I AM!! Just had to get these things off my chest to my bestest friends!! |
Oh Shelley,
You need a big ole hug!! :grouphug: Try not to be down.I know how you feel about work.I'm going through the same thing. Our principal was so ugly & rude yesterday, I was ready to quit too!! It's all stress and you'll feel much better when School is out.I know I WILL!! (I hope so anyways!) About your weight: It's up right now because of T.O.M!!! And also 130 is pretty good if you ask me!In a few days you'll feel better and be back down.Don't even look at those scales during the T.O.M!!! We're always here for you! Now smile and think of something wonderful that will make you smile all day! Don't let work get to you girl!! Remember, it's a rough time for everyone that works in Schools right now! Luv Ya girl!! |
I'm going to go ahead & start a new thread now before I leave for work!! :spin:
|
STOP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please Go To #14.................A New Thread Has Been Started!!!!!! :cb:
