Howdy ladies. I should have checked in sooner. Sandy was a naughty girl. What she did to NJ with flooding, she did here with snow, snapped trees and power lines here. Trees onto vehicles and houses too. I'm SO fortunate to have only lost power for a little over 24 hours and Internet just about two days. We had kerosene heat and just one night of horrible roads. The fire department stopped us and said the road was closed on our way home Monday night (Tuesday morning), but after sitting beside the road in a parking lot for an hour and a half, we noticed they weren't stopping anyone else, so we snuck out too. There were trees down and lines down and cars littering the ditches and a car stuck on a hill that was being pulled out. When I saw that the helpless vehicle was an SUV, I figured I was doomed. And getting stopped ON the hill I figured I'd be stuck too, but when the traffic and tow truck finally moved, I pulled out too, hardly spun a wheel. We got just under two feet and it has mostly melted off the road, but my driveway and most side streets and back roads are still slush and ice coated. Still, we're VERY lucky. The horror show (not the Halloween ones) I've seen on the news of NJ and NY reminds me every day to count my blessings. Sorry it took me so long to check in.
