Motivation
If you started to do something, then someone came up to you and expressed strong doubts about your ability to accomplish it, your confidence would likely be eroded. And just imagine what would happen if, after that, twenty more people came and offered the same negative opinion. Such an experience would devastate the confidence of all but the most highly self-assured people. You might very well give up right then and there, before even getting started. Now imagine what would happen if, after a single negative opinion, you received twenty positive opinions. If twenty people immediately offered their support and encouragement, that one expression of doubt would be all but forgotten. In most cases the expressions of doubt you experience, as well as the expressions of encouragement, will not come from others, but from yourself. And so you have control over what they will be. When a doubt arises in your mind you can learn from it and even make adjustments as a result of it. But you don't have to let it overwhelm you by adding more of your own doubts on top of it. Instead, choose to follow each thought of self doubt with so many more positive, encouraging thoughts that the original doubt itself is overwhelmed. When your doubts are outnumbered by a big enough margin, you'll move steadily and confidently toward the goals you've set. |
Debbie-Wow!! That was a great motivator!! I really needed it today. I need to get back OP and can't seem to do it lately. Now my daughter wants to try WW, so maybe she will help me get motivated. I told her first to just be aware of the points in different foods, then start slowly. I really don't want her to think that she is fat, because she's not. She is very muscular from all the dance. Anyway, we are not joining or anything, just trying to do this together.

Shelley, you are a woman after my own heart! I probably only have a dozen or so purses, but I'm just like you when it comes to coordinating. If my purse doesn't match my shoes, I'll lock in the trunk of the car instead of carrying it in somewhere! LOL
It sounds like we have several shoe fanatics here. I got up the nerve to count mine last year and I had 58 pair. Of course, I've added some since then! I just got a new shoe catalog from Chadwick's of Boston. It has all the cute new summer shoes.....DROOL, DROOL, DROOL Debbie, thanks for the inspirational post. It was great. Sherry, that is so neat about writing to the Oprah show. I agree with everyone else.....it would be great if we could all meet somewhere next summer! BTW, the boys are doing fine....still in the states. All of you who are on spring break this week, I hope you have a terrific week off! I better get back to work......please pray for our troops....... Ramona |
Thank you for sharing Deb, this is so true. I, myself must work on this.
Girls, I am exhausted! I promise that I will check in later and post more! |
Just wanted to let you know that I was in emergency yesterday and last night with mom. She has another large blood clot in her leg and a piece broke lose and went to her lungs. I will report later when I have more info but I think they will let her come home today.
|
Dee: I was concerned about you and had planned to write you in the next day or two... prayers are with your family, let us know as soon as you can about your Mother.
|
Howdy
Happy St.Patrick's Day!! :lucky: My 1st day off from Spring break!! :cp: I'm going to start on my bathroom.Wash down walls, wash curtains, etc. And do laundry.Maybe each day this week I can get a room or two done. Debbie.........Loved the MOTIVATION!! Thanks for sharing!! Gayle.............Please get some much needed rest!! Post soon and tell us all about your weekend!! Dee..........You & your Mom are in my prayers!! PLEASE take care and PLEASE keep us posted on your Mom!! Shelley & Jennelle.......What are you planning for your Spring break? Jeanne & Lisa..........WHERE ARE YOU??? COME BACK SOON!! I MISS YOU!! To all the other floozies: Have a great OP day!! :) Will post more later....Got to get busy on the house. Hugs, Sherry |
Dee-Your mom is in my prayers. Please keep us posted!!
Sherry-Nothing!! Clean the house (maybe.) I also have to spend all day Thursday with our youth group getting ready for the Relay for Life. Other than that, nada, nil, diddly squat!! I am just going to enjoy the time away from work!! |
Sherry - My Spring break was last week, so I've already spent it! I did NOTHING, beyond taking son to see Vandy and taking a friend to the zoo for his 34th birthday. (He hadn't been since he was nine and he really wanted to go!)
|
Guess what I just got done doing??????
Wayne, Drew & I went outside and played basketball for an hour!! :D Also I Walked 1 Mile & did 30 minutes of "jump rope!" THEN...I came inside and did 10 sit ups.Not much but it's been so long since I've done them!!! I'll do another 10 tomorrow night, then start adding 5 a night! ;) The other good news is......I'm on my 3rd glass of water!!! Hey...That's VERY good for me because I NEVER drink it! I'm going to try to drink 4 tomorrow. That's my goal. Hope everyone had a great OP day!!! Gonna take a shower now. Hugs, Sherry P.S. I didn't get to wash my walls and curtains in bathroom.I ran out of time.I did clean kitchen VERY good and washed 7 loads of laundry. I'll do the bathroom tomorrow. |
Good day after ST. Patricks day girls!!!
Shelley: We have our own well, so we fight rust & hard water deposits all of the time. I use a pumice stone where I can on the rust, plus lime away. For the water spots, I use plain ol' vineagar, spray it on, leave for about 20 minutes, you will be amazed! Sounds like everyone is busy!!! We had our Spring break last week. I must apologize for not being here, I am still trying to figure out if I'm coming or going! The weekend went well, most days we would be there by 7:00 am then not back home until after midnight. Sunday night I finally made it to bed at 3:00 am, only to be back up at 5:30 am for a 6:30 meeting! Needless to say, I am one worn out gal!!!! I have been fighting sinus for three weeks straight, now it's almost like hay fever, runny nose, sneezing.......plus my darn ears are plugged up......guess I'm falling apart! Only one time at the show did I almost lose it! I was setting up the booth, finally one of the members showed up to help me. About thirty minutes into it, I needed something from the upper level, I needed to walk through the hospitality room to get it. THREE of my booth committee people were sitting in there enjoying free food, beer and drink as I and the other guy worked our butts off! So, we finished all of it up, worked it for the three days, with no offers to help. I guess I learned that even if you are a member of a civic organization, that means nothing to some members when it comes to voluteering a few hours of their time. Okay...enough moaning...... THANK YOU FOR LISTENING! Dee: How's mom????????? Sher: Will you please come clean my house??????? I have been exhausted for the past three weeks and my house is reflecting that!!!! How cool would it be if we all could afford a maid????? Ramona: I am thinking of your family along with so many other military familiees during this time. Shoes: I use to LOVE shoes! But, now with kids to dress, I am lucky to get one new pair a year. Purses: I have the basics, navy blue, black, brown, if I can not match, then I have my hubby carry what I need in his pocket! |
Howdy
I'm taking a break from washing down those bathroom walls!!! It's only 11:00 am and I'm already tired! I'm also waiting to hear from Debbie. She took her hubby to the Dr. this morning. She took him yesterday to his regular Dr. and today to the surgeon. He has a hernia and in a lot of pain. I'm hoping that they keep him and do surgery right away.I'll let you know when I hear something. Gayle, You sound so tired! Please get some rest today.I'm sorry that no one offered to help you.I know what you mean though. When we had our chili dinner at School, it was like pulling teeth to get help! Spend the whole day RELAXING!! Yep....that's what I said...RELAX!! Know what that means!!!!!????? Dee, How's Mom today? Please post soon with an update!! Hopefully everyone else will post today!!! ;) I don't want to lose my MOTIVATION!!!!!!! Has anyone heard from Lisa or Jeanne.I miss them!! Hey Carol, Doni & Vicki......Where's your post??? :D Have a GREAT OP day!!!!! Sherry |
Hi girls
Some fine spring break this turned out to be with hubby sick. We had to go to Baptist hospital this morning to see the surgeon, I easily walked 2 miles today. That place is like a small city. James' surgery is scheduled for Thursday morning. It will just be the one day surgery, they don't keep you for much anymore. I think the surgery itself is fairly simple but very painful. He can't drive for 10 days and will be off work for 6 WEEKS!!!! :dizzy: Trying to stay OP but it's not easy with so much going on. I ate Captain D's yesterday, just the fish and coleslaw. :p Hope everyone is having a good week. I'll keep you posted on hubby. Love you guys...Deb :) |
Warm thoughts and prayers go out to James, Deb. I hope the surgery goes well and he makes a quick recovery. What type of work does James do? It seemed like I knew at one time, but I forgot.
|
Hi everybody,
I'm still here. We have the news on and they are talking about being at war in 24 hours...this is so scary. I'm still plugging away at Atkins. I went to a luncheon today and was able to stay OP. I have followed the program to a T for over 3 weeks now and have lost 11 lbs. (beats gaining 11 lbs!). I found out that my bil is on Atkins and he lost 15 lbs. in 6 weeks so it is nice to hear I'm not the only one in the family on Atkins. I will see him in person over spring break (right before Easter) so it should be fun comparing notes. I had a piece of salmon and a salad tonight for dinner...a nice treat! Spinning class is basically doing aerobics in a room full of stationary bikes. The instructor sets the pace with music and cues. It is a very high energy class and lots of fun. |
Shhhhhhh........
I'm trying to be quite so I won't wake everyone up!! Where is EVERYONE???? I miss your posts!!! I walked another mile yesterday, played basketball, jumped rope and did 10 sit-ups!! :D I also had 5- 16 oz. glasses of WATER!! :spin: My food choices have been great too!! (I HATE water...so this is good for me!!) It's a rainy, ugly day here.I have a hair appointment at 10:00 this morning for a trim and frosting.I'm not doing anything to the house today.I'm tired from doing so much Monday & Tuesday. Debbie.........Tell James I love him and he'll do just fine tomorrow. He'll be in my prayers.Sorry your Spring break has turned out like it has...But hey....look at mine...CLEANING HOUSE!! :( Atleast your free from SEX for awhile!! LMAO!! Gayle......Did you get rested up? Jeanne......WTG on 11 lbs!! :cp: YOU GO GIRL!!!! Did you like my clipart that I made for you & Lisa? Ok FLOOZIES...Come out whereever you are!!! ;) Have a great OP day!! Sherry |
Oh yeah......One more thing:
I weighed on Monday.I'm almost to ashamed to tell you what my weight was, but I am because that's why we're here. For love, support & motivation. I weighed 191!! I was once down to 170! I have gained so much during the winter! :( But I NOW have lots of motivation, exercising more, drinking water and watching my portions & fat. I know I can do it!! :cb: Sherry 3/17/03 191 |
Morning!!
Hope everyone is having a good morning. I re-read my post from yesterday and it sounded so selfish. I'm not upset that my spring break was ruined, I'm just thankful that I could be off work this week to take care of James. Men are such babies...:bb:LOL. Gayle...James is a motor tech. His job requires a lot of lifting, sometimes even heavy motors. Sherry....NO sex...LMAO!!! Guess there is always a bright to everthing!! I've got some errands to run this morning. I'll post more later. Deb :dancer: |
hello everyone!
hoping this day finds you well! been engrossed in the war thing. looks like its gonna happen. my nephew is in kuwait. worried bout him. hes in gods hands. wondering how many hate crimes will happen tho. our own people to make trouble for us. i dont understand. deb, so sorry to hear of dhs surgery. hope all goes well and a rapid recovery. yes men are babies. noone gets as sick as they do. lol! shelley 100 purses? i got only one i dont like carrying it.lol! dee, sorry to hear bout your mom how is she now? sher, way to go on the excercise and water ive been trying real hard on excercises it worked i lost 4 pounds im excited.no change in diet. just excercering. next week im cutting on 2nd helpings no eating after midnite. im doing small challenges to keep the weight moving down! maui, great going on losing the 11 pounds thats awesome!!!! well off to scour the news . be safe!!!! doni |
You girls are toooooo funny!!!! Sex, what the heck is that???? Steve and I scheduled it in before he was to leave town this week...after the weekend we basically just said: "love ya dear, but.."" we were to exhausted!
Are you guys still doing curves? Sher: Still sooooo tired, could be my iron, plus I have this nasty allergy sinus thing going on. Dee: Where are you? How's Mom? |
Sorry Doni, we were posting at the same time.
I have two second cousins that are brothers over there also. All we can do is pray for all of our military and their families. |
Debbie, I'll be keeping James in my thoughts and prayers. I know he will do just fine. Does he have a hiatel hernia or an inguinal hernia? Hang in there......but you are right.....men are such babies!!!!
Sherry, wow! You are one workout momma!! Are you still going to curves along with your basketball and sittups? You and Debbie will look HOT on that Florida beach! Jeanne, 11 pounds is terrific......another HOT beach momma! Dee, how is your mom? How are things at home? I really miss your daily posts. You always made me smile! Gayle, I hope you get some much needed rest this week. Whew, you make me tired! Shelley, is the relay this weekend? I talked to my BIL yesterday. They are getting layed off in Florida City and are moving on to West Palm Beach. Is that anywhere near you? OK, I'm with Sherry......WHERE IS EVERYONE?????? My good friend that lives out of town called me this morning to say that she is a new grandmother! She is the first in our school group to have that honor. Her grandaughter is Avery Paige and she weighed 5 pounds. She runs an in-home daycare service so guess who will get to take care of the baby everyday? It will be great that she will get to watch to baby grow and change from week to week. Our oldest, Ben, has purchased a new truck with his re-enlistment bonus. We bought it here because they are less expensive here and my hubby is going to drive it to Montana next week. The bad part is that after driving 1500 miles, he will only get to spend a couple of hours with Ben. They are of course on high alert and living in the kennels with the k-9s. They are on call 24/7. I was hoping they could at least have 1 day together, but, that is military life. I'm at least thankful that he is in Montana and not sitting on the Iraqi border! Have a good day all, Ramona |
I was posting the same time as Gayle and Doni.
I meant to ask...Lisa, how is your mom doing? |
I'm checking in. I hope everyone is doing well.
In summary, the garage isn't done yet, but I have made progress. This weekend I'm going to look at an outdoor flea market and perhaps go that way at getting rid of some stuff. The price seems right -- $5 to set up. I'd rather do that than have a garage sale here, or at least that's what I think now. I'm not sure when I'll be coming to Nashville. I've not heard from my high school friend in awhile as he had been ill. I do have commitments here for the next couple of weeks so maybe after that, I can get something set up. I would love to go see "Nashville Star". Take care, and I'll check back in a day or two. |
Ramona-West Palm Beach is a couple of hours away. BTW, it is 90 degrees here today! I ran this morning, it was a bit foggy, and the air was so thick and no breeze. I sweated my you know what off because of the air!
Did someone say sex??? What's that??? Actually, we did have some time to ourselves this weekend for the 1st time in at least a month!!! The relay is next weekend, and I think we bit off more than we can chew. For one thing, it's at a high school and we have to get all the stuff there before 4:PM, and I don't even pick up my girls from school until 3:30. It's going to be fun trying to get everyone there on time. Also, we need to find someone with a tent. And of course once we do, I don't know how to set it up. I hope some of the kids do!!! We went to a meeting last night about it and I can tell you that I wish we could back out!! I am just afraid of not getting everything done in time, not to mention the fact that we still don't have many donations. We are going to have the entire youth group get together tomorrow and start making banners and stuff. I'm not sure if I told you that the relay is called the rockin' relay this year, so we named our team "Stayin' Alive." We bought one of those huge balls at Walmart that we are going to cover with aluminum foil to look like a disco ball. Also, we are all going to wear black shorts or pants with our temple t shirts. We bought black and white bandanas that we are going to write Stayin Alive on with white fabric paint to wear on our heads. We will probably all look like idiots, but oh well, we are going to do the best we can! Want to come and walk with us? We can use all the help we can get! Love to everyone! |
Hi Girls:
Debbie: I am so sorry to hear about James. My prayers are with you both tomorrow, but I know he will be just fine.. After all, he has you!! Sherry: You sound like you really have things under control now, with your exercise, eating & water. You go girl!! I too have gained weight back in the last 8 months with all the foot/ankle problems I have had. You would think hopping on crutches would help somehow, but NOT!! I am ashamed to say I weigh in at 196. Jeanne: Good for you!! 11 lbs. I too know that Atkins works when you stay with it. I lost 20 lbs in 6 months 2 years ago when I was being very dedicated to it. I need to get that dedication back. But you go girl... Keep up the great job you are doing. Dee: How is your mom doing? Hope she is on the mend and back at home where she belongs!! I don't have time to post to each and every one of you, so to the rest of my floozie friends!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!! YOUR ALL A GREAT BUNCH OF GALS!!! WE CAN DO THIS. With that said!!! I am still looking for the inspiration I need to stay on track for more than 3-4 days. I do great for that time frame and then I fall off the wagon. God what does it take!!! Anyway enough about me. It looks like most of us have issues that give rise to stress attacks and makes us fall of the wagon. We have to find ways to counterattack and keep us going so we can all be strong and healthy!!! Gotta run now. Love you all Carol |
Ladies......
If you are ever eating out and have a choice between a BLT or a grilled cheese, PICK THE GRILLED CHEESE! A grilled cheese on Texas toast has 282 cal. and 12 g. of fat. A BLT on Texas toast has 581 cal. and 41 g. of fat!!!!! :fr: Needless to say, I found this out AFTER I ate the BLT.... |
Hello I'm here! Mom's surgery went well. The surgeon took more tissue than he said he would. He told us that he didn't like the way it looked so he removed it. Mom now has spring fever, and over did it yesterday by taking her one ton siamese kitty cat outside. Instead of insisting he come in, she picked him up. She said she was sore. She see's the oncologist tomorrow I'm hoping for good news. I found out from my aunts that mom wasn't telling me everything. I don't know if she was shielding us or just was in denial. The oncologist has rated her a 4 on a scale of 1-5 with 5 being the worst. He also would not put her on a 10 year survival. I just pray a whole bunch.
School is almost over for me and I will begin my clinicals on Friday morning. I went out and bought 2 sets of scrubs. We have to wear our uniforms or scrubs.... NO JEANS...... our uniforms consist of jeans and our work shirts, we also can wear special pants. I have one pair of those special (and EXTREMELY expensive) pants... I think if I'm going to get blood and guts and stuff like that on my clothes, then it should be cheap scrubs. Also, they're all tax deductable so that's a good thing. Unfortunately, my husband was in an accident last night. He's fine, and by the sounds of it, so is the girl who drove into the back of his trailer. I really was shaking when I got the news. It happened in Chicago and he said he was really upset. It was not his fault, and while the girl was taken away in an ambulance, the police officer on the scene said she wasn't hurt too badly. TV has just broken the news that there were air raid sirens in Iraq. When I married Jim, he was in the army. My heart goes out to the troops and their families. |
Lisa: I was so happy to come to the site and see that you were the last one to post a message. Glad that your mothers surgery went as well as it did, now if only she will not try to over extend herself. I hope Jimmy is okay, and that the girl didn't have serious injuries. Running into the back of a truck can be serious business!!! My daughter has a pair of pants that she's required to wear when she rides out with EMS, they are kinda a green color with all kinds of pockets everywhere. She was thrilled to death that she got her own pair of scissors to carry around with her! Good luck on your clinicals...we need more people like you!!!!
Dee: HOW ARE YOU????? MOM????? PLEASE check in!!!! Jennelle: Been there, done that......sometimes the best food choices on the menu are not actually the best food choices for our body! Carol: Just remember to check in here and you will do great!!!! Remember the day that you had a big dinner to go to? We offered advice and you did just fine! Titan Dee: The booth space sounds really reasonable!!! So much less then running an ad in the paper! Best of luck to you as you earn your first million after retirement with your flea market sales! Shelley: The Rock'n Relay sounds like fun!!! Every since you mentioned "Stay'n alive", all I can think of is the tune, "I will survive" You guys will have a blast plus will be doing something good! Our Relay for Life offers prizes for the best camping set-up, will your relay org. do that? Doni: Happy to see you posting!!! GREAT job on the weight loss!! I guess exercise is important! :smug: Have a super, duper day girls! |
Just a quick Hi  and to say ........Today is the 1st day of Spring!! :dancer:
I'll be back later to post!! **Please keep the brave men & women and their families in your prayers as we begin the war  Sherry |
Sherry I needed your chick this morning to make me smile!
Sorry for not posting. I am running on fumes. Mom is still in the hospital. I have been going everyday to help out. It has only been my Dad and I going to the hospital to help. But you know how men are......they donn't get it. She has a large blood clot in her leg that is very painful. Her leg is swollen from her toes to her hip. She is unable to walk. Part of the blood clot broke loose and went to her lungs. Her oxygen level is reading around 85. It should be 100%. She is on oxygen and IV heprin (which is a blood thinner) and Kumidin (which is also another blood thinner). She sees the blood clot specialist today. They are having a hard time disolving the clot. They are concerned about it traveling to her heart or lungs. She looks awful. her eyes are all blood shot. I think it is from low oxygen. Her skin color is very pale and sickly. Sorry for all the depressing news. That is all that I seem to be able to share. I hope you all have a really good day and I am sorry that I don't have the time to post to all of you. Debbie how is James? I have been praying for him. Ramona how are you hanging in there with the news of the war? Lisa I am glad that your mother's surgery is over and that it went well. Sherry you are doing wonderful on the exercise board. Keep it up. Shelley don't forget Mom and Jackie friday. I really appreciate the prayers. Thinking about it has just brought me to tears. You guys are so special. Gayle get some well needed rest. Thanks for keeping in touch. Great weight loss everyone. Well I really got to run so I can get ready to go see mom. DEE |
Here is a poem that Jackie sent me.....it made me cry and I just can't seem to get it out of my head.
IT IS TIME TO FOLD YOUR TENT - a message I am sure it is my duty, as long I am in this tent, to keep stirring you up with reminders, since I know the time for me to lay aside tent is coming soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clear to me. And I shall take great care that after my own departure you will still have a means to recall things to mind. (2Peter 1:13-13) All of us earth-people will someday be asked to fold up our tents and come home. Death and life stand near each other. It is difficult at times to see where one begins and the other ends. This meditation was written for someone who was asked by the Lord to fold up the tent. I am sure that in your lifetime you haveknown and loved many folders. This poem is dedicated, with love, to all the tent-folders who have ever walked this earth and to the tent-folder who is waiting in you. Once again death's mystery holds us in its arms and we are memoried with a thousand things you were and are, and now always will be. We celebrate this journey with a quiet shyness always a little uncomfortabel with a mystery so deep, But with hearts full of life we hold out our hands to receive the mystery of death the gift of death and sometimes we weep. Eyes that see all the way in now proclaim to us the new truth, When you stand close enough to death it isn't death anymore. Its new name is LIFE, yet those of us with earth-eyes still call it death. There is really no death for those caught up in God, only a moment of passing over a moment of folding up you tent a hard, painful, giving-up moment It is always painful to let go. We praise a women (man) who had the vision to let go. We praise a God who had the love to ask her (him) to let go. O God of life it is in our moments of not letting go that we truly experience death and all the while It is life that you have planned for us! O God of life dip us into the mystery of letting go of folding up our tents so we, your earthen vessels, can bear the beauty of the breaking and hold the fullness of the life. Do earth-people always call things by the wrong name? Is it death we celebrate? Or is it life? Or is it letting go? I warn you when God gives you when God gives you the grace to let go be prepared for a radical transformation! Love Jackie |
Hi Everyone!!
James' surgery went well. His surgery was a t 8.30 this morning, after being in recovery for 2 hours we were home by 1.00. Talk about a quickie...lol. He is in a lot of pain but that's is to be expected. The pain medication is strong so he is out of it. I finally got the peace and quiet I've wanted all week. Hope everyone is having a good day. Deb |
