gdeann 03-05-2003 11:26 PM

Here comes Peter Cottontail.........Put me down for 12!!!!!!!!

Deelite 03-06-2003 09:22 AM

Hey, I am game too. :D
I will try to go for a pound a week.
I am a slow loser........so I would be happy with that.
:dizzy:

Maui Wowie 03-06-2003 12:45 PM

I'll go for 11 (just to be different) and puts me at a round number...isn't it funny how the numbers are such a big deal...I have another one...I want to be able to wear some nice blue slacks hanging in my closet that I never wore. They should be plenty comfortable once I lose 11 lbs.

gdeann 03-07-2003 10:19 AM

Hey Deb, if you don't mind, I may start posting my daily food choices here? This might make me more accountable for what I stuff into my mouth!!!!!!

GloryAwaits 03-08-2003 11:08 AM

I am a slow loser too, so my challenge will be 9 lbs. It's a really big deal when I go over 1 lbs per week! I aimed a little higher than I think I can do, I bet I will reach 6 or 7, but that way the closer I get the prouder I will be!

Good Luck all!

DebbieA 03-08-2003 03:13 PM

Welcome Glory!!
So glad to have you posting with us. Feel free to post on our other threads too.

Gayle....I think posting food choices is a great idea! I may join you in doing that!

bootwoman 03-10-2003 09:21 AM

So far, so good. I lost 8 pounds last week on Atkins(I don't follow it to the letter, I have a few carbs). Some of that loss is because I had a stomach virus and couldn't keep anything down. I lose very quickly the first few weeks I'm on program. If it keeps going well, I may ammend my goal a bit.

My meals for today:
Breakfast: 1 egg, 3 strips bacon
Lunch: Large salad with green onions, green olives and ranch dressing
snack: cottage cheese
Dinner: Homemade meatloaf, some type of green vegetable
I'm not an after dinner snacker, so that will probably do me.

Deelite 03-10-2003 09:53 AM

Ramona that is awesome! I can't believe how much you can lose in a week. Keep it up.

Sherry 03-10-2003 10:04 AM

Ramona,

Atkins is the plan that Debbie always does so well on.I tried it last year and couldn't stick to it because of not being able to have carbs.

You said that you don't follow it to a "T" and do have a few carbs. My question is: Like what carbs do you eat & how much?

I would love to try Atkins again but the carb part is what killed me! Just a little bit of it and I believe I could stay on it.

Thanks for any input! :)
Sherry (Sher-Bear)

bootwoman 03-10-2003 01:04 PM

Sherry, I allow myself to have some pecans and cashews occasionally and even on the induction, I have green vegetables, onions, sauteed mushrooms(YUM!), lot's of salad, etc.
I make an orange jello salad with cottage cheese and sugar free jello and whipped cream.
Also, on Sunday, I eat anything I want within reason. The free day is such a treat that the rest of the week is easy.
If you can get through a couple of weeks, your blood sugar will stabalize and you won't crave the pasta as much.
I hope this helps some!

DebbieA 03-10-2003 07:56 PM

WTG Ramona!!! :cp: :cp:

The low calorie thing didn't work for me last week. I know myself and I need a plan that I have to follow closer. As of this morning I'm back on Adkins!!!

Carol...Glad you have joined us with our Easter challenge!!

Ramona...Your plan sounds like mine. I have never cut out carbs totally. But I do stay away from the sugars though. How does your free day work for you? Is Mondays hard to get back on plan?

You girls are doing great!!! :cb: :cb:

Deb

DebbieA 03-10-2003 09:50 PM

Low Carb Treat!!

I have found a great Candy bar...yes I said Low Carb candy bar!! It's Pure De-lite, I love the Milk Chocolate Crisp. It only has 3 carbs per bar and it is yummy. I buy mine at Walmart and the price is reasonable too.

Deb :dancer:

Carol101 03-11-2003 07:07 AM

Okay... Guess what... I am posting again!! Unbelievable!!

Breakfast: 1 1/2 eggs (cause I lost 1/2 an egg when I broke it)

2 small sausage links
2 small pieces of cheese

grams of carbs: 0

One meal at a time... then one day at a time: :cb:

Hugs
Carol

gdeann 03-11-2003 09:22 AM

Hi girls!!!!! 6 pounds gone in 12 days!!!!! YIPPEEE!!!!!!!

Yesterday I ended up with no time for breakfast or lunch so it consisted of a mixture throughout the morning and afternoon of cottage cheese, 1 can of chicken, beef jerkey and some cheese.
Last night I had a stuffed pepper fixed in my crock pot. With a snack later of a serving of peanuts.

Of all the things I could miss on this plan as far as pasta or beads, my weakness is ketchup!!!! I gotta figure out some way to make some that is carb friendly!

bootwoman 03-11-2003 09:44 AM

Wow, you girls ROCK!!!!!!
Everyone seems so jazzed about whatever program she is doing. It's great that we are all getting on track and loving the results. It is always easier when we hold ourselves accountable to each other.

Debbie, Free day doesn't bother me at all. I don't go nuts, but I'll have a TCBY sugarfree yogurt and we usually eat Chinese food after Church. Sometimes I'll have pizza or a cheesburger, but I don't usually do that until I've been on program for a few weeks.

Gayle, I don't know what to tell you about the ketchup as we probably don't consume a whole bottle in a year's time. I'll do some research though and see what I can come up with.

Jeanne, I know what you mean about feeling funny about all the food you are eating. I was really hungry Sat. nite and had a plate full of ribs from the bar-b-que place and a huge salad. It was great!

It's kinda funny that I'm doing this WOE again. About 15 years ago, my OB/GYN suggested I do this plan. I lost 70 pounds while on it. He moved away and I changed Drs. He is know back in town and I have an appt. with him in May....and here I am back on Atkins again!!!! If I reach my goal, this will be that smallest I've ever been while using him as a Dr.

Keep up all the good work ladies! I'll try to think back to some of the creative recipies I used way back when. I can remember making a chocolate cheesecake and some type of gluten free bread.
Btw, if you love Mexican food, one of my favs is to cook a big ground chuck patty on the George Foreman, pour a chunky, spicy salsa over it and top it with a dollop of sour cream....yum, yum!!!

I am soooooo ready to make this a great summer! This year is my 25th HS reunion and my hubby's 30th!

Later floozies,
Ramona

_________________________________________

Although I still feel great, not much on the actual lbs. lost this week. My total is 10 since Feb. 24. At this rate, I may not make my 11 lb. goal for this Easter challenge. I have been visiting another support board on AOL that is all about Atkins. They have an acronym over there call PISS---post induction stall syndrome--maybe that is what I have!

On the plus side, I can squeeze into some non-stretch size 13 jeans and I have been working out at my gym like a fiend. I took a spinning class yesterday at lunch and felt fantastic.

Have a great weekend everyone!!!

DebbieA 03-15-2003 12:01 PM

Jeanne:cb:

You are doing great, please don't be upset if some weeks you lose more than others. Did you measure before you started? I'm sure you have lost inches when not much weightloss shows up! Size 13 jeans....That's great~ :cp: :cp:
I love those Adkins sites, they even have a chat room on one of them.
What is spinning? Walking is my thing, after I get the house cleaned I'm going for a long walk.

Have a great weekend...Deb :flow2:

bootwoman 03-15-2003 12:29 PM

Jeane, I know it gets frustrating when the scale doesn't move, but hang in there. Sometimes I'll go for days with nothing and then....in the words of Emeril......BAM!
As long as your clothes are fitting loser, then you are accomplishing your goals. You can't always go by scale weight...there are too many factors that can cause fluctuation.

Enjoy your walk Deb....what a beautiful day!!!!!

DebbieA 03-16-2003 10:50 PM

Evening Ladies!:cb: :cb:

I didn't stay right by plan this weekend, think I went over my 20 carbs yesterday and today. {today we ate Chinese}. But I'm sure I didn't do too bad. :flow2:
My weigh-in day is going to on Mondays. What day are you Easter Challenge floozies going to weigh-in? I'm also going to excerise everyday this week, since I'm off work.

What is your beginning weight and goal weigh?

Deb :dancer:

Deelite 03-17-2003 12:49 PM

Well I am down 3 pounds. With all those treats I didn't know what would happen but I am happy for the lose. I am a slow loser.

bootwoman 03-17-2003 02:26 PM

Dee, great job!

Debbie, I originally started at 220 pounds. I lost down to 153 last year. Over this past winter, I put on 23 pounds(mostly from stress eating). I've now lost 10 of my Easter goal of 15. After that, I want to lose another 12 by June 21st(DH 30 year reunion).
That will put me at 148 which is about right for me. At that weight, I am a comfortable size 8.

Oh yeah, believe it or not, I actually EXERSIZED over the weekend! OOOOOhhhhh, did I just say the E word???????

gdeann 03-18-2003 07:31 AM

You girls are doing SUPER!!!!!!

I feel guilty for not having the time lately to post my dailey menu, but I can not thank you all enough for doing so. It really helps me to see what you are eating to know if I'm on the right track.

Do you guys weigh your portions?? Subtract the fiber count of certain foods from the carb count?

I did not do so great, thought I did, but apparently not.... stayed on plan all week except one day, then I had baked steak, corn, potatoes plus beer. I weighed today and it shows a three pound gain! But I do also know that I am retaining fluid like crazy, I can't get my rings off! So, hopefully I will do more of the water thing and will be right back on track!

Again, everyone is doing a GREAT job!!! You should be so proud!
