There are some strange things going on with this website - my post from yesterday is gone, too! And it was a long one.
Saturday Glory and I went to tea and today we had applique bee at Bella. Tomorrow is PPQG meeting, Thursday is Ladies of the Evening applique bee and Friday is lock-in so we will have a full week. It's good to be busy. Other than that its just work, housework, exercise and getting ready for retreat at the end of next week. PT starts again tomorrow. Can't say I'm looking forward to it. I'm pretty tired tonight so I'll be off to bed by 8:30 - but read for at least an hour. Have a great evening. |
Good Evening, Flowers! I've been here twice today and never finished writing. Now I will start all over! It's been an 80 degree, sunny, and WINDY day in my corner of the world. It poured rain for all of 30 seconds on my way from town this afternoon -- just enough to make a mess on the car. My church money balanced first thing this morning, my stove was delivered and I baked a pizza for supper, and I have the gift shop deposit ready for the bank tomorrow.
"Gma" -- I hope your shoulder felt better as the day went along. :crossed: Bob's shoulder will bother him if he sleeps on it wrong. The Elvis book sounds cute. I have an Elvis record that I should check and see what it is worth. I don't have anything to play it on anymore -- it's 78 rpm, Love Me Tender. I'm glad Jack feels like helping you with your house chores. :cp: Maggie -- :congrat: on losing another pound down this road to thin! I wondered where you were yesterday! :spin: My stove book says not to use an oven thermometer . . . and I have 4 of them! It worked fine on the pizza tonight. Susan -- You had a busy weekend and an even busier week ahead! I'm glad you are feeling so much better and able to be on the go. :cheer: I always think I will read in bed and usually only last for a few minutes before I start to fall asleep. I haven't been sleeping very good so could easily fall asleep around suppertime. I have a load of towels to fold and then I am heading towards bed. Have a terrific Tuesday tomorrow! :D  |
Good morning to you ladies. It has been very warm and humid once again, but looks like it will dip back down to lower temps. It looks like around Wednesday of next week the rain will stop for Branson, but the temps are only going to get into the upper 70's so I doubt Jack will want to go swimming. We shall see I guess and just play it by ear.
I have noticed a lot of problems with the site too. For one thing, picking up bold, sizes, and text coloring. I have found several times where it picks up the bold, but dumps the size and coloring and I have to go back in and do it again. I am also having trouble with the webpage dumping and I have have to start over again. For instance, when I click on Support Groups, it brings them up, but when I click on our thread, I get an error message that the webpage is not loading and it dumps me out or it "sticks." Don't know what is going on exactly with that. Susan: Jack has three more rehabs, today, Thursday and on my birthday, the 28th. He has a dr appt that same day too for his knee. He is coming right along though he has a huge dark purple bruise behind his knee, which didn't happen the last time, but then he bled more this time the dr said so maybe that is why. It is an ugly thing that is for sure. He says it doesn't hurt though so it has to be just blood pooled from the surgery. You are going to be a busy girl. Is your retreat a long one or just over the weekend? Jean: I am waiting for her next book to become available, which is Elvis and the Greatful Dead. He lives with a woman who is a hair dresser, but her family own anything to do with death, her uncle owns the funeral parlor, her mom owns the gravestone monument place, she does the hair and make up for the dearly departed and her sister does the catering so that is why the death stuff. Funny books though and fun to read. What are you reading at the moment? I just finished a book that was not bad about the 1930's called The Darling Dahlias and the Cucumber Tree which is a garden club is some little town in Alabama in the 30's. Light reading for sure, but not bad. I just downloaded a Joseph Wambaugh book this morning so it will be a bit heavier reading as he is an ex-cop that writes about cops. Glad you got your stove and even christened it with pizza! I love homemade pizza, but Jack doesn't like it so I rarely make it. Maggie: Glad you got another # off, good for you. I am trying to hold steady until I get back from vacation as I know I will gain, but then I am hitting it hard and getting a darn exercise regime started. I need to build up my stamina big time and get the ole metabolism working better. I am going to get fixed what is broke with the female thing too so maybe I won't continue to have problems there. I still think it is all hormonal and maybe they can get me on something that will fix the problem. Well gals, I am going to go and sit and start that sock. I still haven't done it and want to get it going at least. Have a nice Tuesday. I am cleaning the upstairs while Jack is at rehab today and of course have started my never ending lists for vacation. I have 6 at the moment, but I never forget to do anything or pack anything this way! Faye |
Good Morning, Flowers! It's sunny and a cool 50 degrees this morning! I have a couple errands to run and then need to dig in and sort/pitch some more! Sometimes it's just easier to ignore, :o and that's been my m o lately.
"Gma" -- When I try to log in the last few times, I'd get a message that the site was running slow and did I want to continue. Bob had 5:00 practice at church last night so supper was "homemade pizza" from the grocery store deli. He's been eating oatmeal for breakfast and ran out, so I made a quick trip to the store. It's later when we eat on practice night which I really don't like but can't help. Enjoy your sock knitting today; that sounds like more fun than cleaning! ;) I need to get my rear in gear! Have a terrific Tuesday and enjoy! :D  |
Hi everyone! Sorry I've been away but I've been away from home. I've started spending more time down in Va. Beach lately and that is the reason for my absence on the board. I did go to WW this morning and lost .2 and even though the amount doesn't seem like I'm gung-ho about the program I am! Sometimes its just very difficult to stay on program while I'm visiting my Dad. Everyone is fine down that way.
Anyway...I wanted to peek in here and let y'all know I'm still alive. I have a ton of things I need to do around the house. I'll be back in here later. |
Gail -- I'm so glad to see you today! :congrat: on losing .2! ANY loss is a GREAT loss! :cheer: Is Wayne having any luck in the job search? I know how hard it is to be miles away from a parent(s) whose health is fragile. Your chores can wait . . . be sure to take some "you" time for yourself.

Titilating Tuesday
:comp: GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS
It is fixin' to get to the mid 80's here in the Heartland this day. At 1:15 I get to go to the dentist and have my teeth cleaned. I look forward to this every 6 months. :p Wanna keep my choppers as long as I can. The tool box grill I had ordered came and it is trick. We plan on keeping this one in the Jeep. It has a fire proof plate that attaches to the bottom that keeps the heat of the grill from scorching the earth plus it has feet. It measures 10 inches at the highest part of the lid, 10 inches wide and 20 inches long. So it has a good sized cooking surface. The lid latches down like a tool box and has a handle on the top. Looks like a large forest green tool box. I know we are going to enjoy using it. I plan on putting some grilling utensils in a canvas bag and keeping them in it also. Probably just a pair of tongs and a long fork. I like it. I had a smaller version years ago and we used it up. We often go to places that don't have grills in the camp sites so we like to be prepared. :o The best we can anyway. BTW the Jeep runs great since we got it back this time from being "fixed." On a different note ~ I like the WW smoothie mixes a lot. The French Vanilla espeially because I can use it so many different ways. Recipes come with the packets in the box also. DONNA FAYE I agree you need to wait until your vacation excitement is all over so you can then knuckle down and buckle down to your weight loss program. Then we will see you lose in chunks. I am slow as molasses but even molasses runs down hill ever so slowly as my weight loss goes. JEAN I can imagine you are loving your new stove. All bright and new and shining. Easy to keep it that way now with a limited amount of elbow grease. GAIL :congrat: on your loss. Any amount in the right direction is a good thing my dear. Come back when you are able and you do know that we are thinking of you and rooting for you down this road to thin. How goes the job search for Wayne. Hopefully he has some good leads. SUSAN Have a great time on your excersion. How long is this retreat going to last? I can imagine what you will be going through with your PT. After being absent for awhile it is like starting over sometimes. All y'all have a lovely day. Type I will later. |
Maggie -- The only way to keep a stove bright and shining is not to use it! :lol3: Your new grill sounds like a cute little item. Glad that your Jeep is back to 100% and running smooth. I just peeked in here on my way to get my book and read for a bit. Bob has gone back to the office and I know if I sit in front of the tv I will fall asleep.

Good Morning, Flowers! It's a sunny "cold" 45 degrees this morning; frost warning for tonight. :brr: Today I have WW, lunch bunch this noon, a lab/dr. appt. this afternoon, and bell practice at 5. Tomorrow is "crafty club" then I think we are going to go to a nearby fair. It's advertised as the largest county fair in the U. S., but really isn't all that big. I enjoy wandering through the buildings and looking at "stuff." Bob heads for the farm section.
I need to get a move on and decide what to wear later. I don't think it's going to be a sandal/summer outfit day. Have a wonderful Wednesday and enjoy! :D  |
Wonderful Cool Wednesday
:comp: GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS
It is a sunny 65 degree day here in the Heartland. Perhaps fall has set in. Hopefully those triple digets are behind us this year. Our garden was so sad this year but we did get some nice tomatoes and a couple crookneck squash out of it but the corn and the rest of the plants got too hot to bear up under the stress, even with the bottom watering we gave them. Hopefully next year won't be so hard on the plants. We can always hope. Will grilled burgers last night and they were oh so good tasting. I am sad our garden didn't do well since the price of food is going up and up each week. But that is that. Gotta ride with the tide and go with the flow. No need dwelling on things that can't be changed. My teeth feel so squeeky clean. :p I think instead of buying new brushes for my electric toothbrush I'll get a new brush. I think they have improved them since I got this one. I have had it a long time and it has been a good one for sure. I got a kick out of the gal that cleans my teeth for she said she loves to see me coming because my teeth are so easy to clean since I am such a good brusher. I don't obsess with it ~ just brush like I think everyone is supposed to. The dentist gave me one of the tools that they use to pick around on your teeth because one of the little prongs had broken off a tad bit on one end. He said he gives the broken ones out to those who do crafts or use them in their job. He has given them to mechanics, wood workers, and others that can use them. The broken end is just perfect for my use as is the other hooked end. I now have several different ones. Will likes to use them in his leather work. Real good for picking out old stitiches on things he repairs. So I left his office with a pick, toothpaste and toothbrush in hand and a smile on my face flashing my sparkling cleaned teeth. Life is good. For dinner this day I think I will do a stir-fry. Our guest sure likes my cooking.:D I am so glad he isn't a pickey eater because it makes it so much easier for me to just make a little more of what I am cooking. JEAN When we owned that house in Big Tember and I needed something done to my cook stove (don't remember what now) the repair man said I had the cleanest stove in town. I told him that was one reputation I was happy to have. :p I agree with you ~ they never are as clean as when they are frist delivered. It is cooler here today also. Seems strange doesn't it to have it so cool after all that heat. Have fun at the fair. Isn't if fun to see all the things folks have made and what is new and different. :coach: Calling all other Magnolias ~ Hope your day is going well with you. |
Good morning ladies. Jack had a bad sleep night last night, stiff neck and shoulder so we came down early got in the recliners, fell asleep and slept until almost 10, which we never ever do. It was nice to actually sleep that long though because sleep last night was broken up by his soreness.
I went and put a hold on the mail today even though we won't leave for awhile, I want to make sure they stop it tomorrow so if they don't I can call about it. Our post office is clear across town and I stood in line forever since they don't put hold cards out in their little thingy that holds like registered letter cards and such. Well, then I found out from the lady behind me that they are closing this post office and moving everything to Shelby Drive and it is even farther. It is just ridiculous, but the postal service is trying to save money I guess. They only had one agent working this morning as it was. I then went to Krogers to pick up a few tide us over items and the sky was dark. I came out about half an hour later and it was a deluge of rain. I got soaked going to the car, I thought it was going to slack off as I was putting stuff in the back of the suv, but then wham I mean it came down for earnest and I basically got a free bath before I could haul myself into the driver's seat. Even the seat got really wet it was raining so fast and so hard. Got home and put it all away and I am going to make myself some lunch. Jean: You are right about the stove. You can clean it well, but the truth is, once you use it, it gets dirty. I used a ceramic cleaner on my stop top and have a self cleaning oven, but it still gets dirty. Have fun at the little fair. I always like going to the farmer's market, but ours here aren't that great. We have a lot of farming communities around here so I am surprised it isn't better. South Bend has a great Farmer's market, not changed in decades, very quaint. You walk in and smell soil from plants being sold and stuff, bakery items and fresh fruits and veggies. There is a stall that sells fresh carmel corn that is to die for and a butcher shop run by a friend of my son's. I love going their during the summer on Saturday's if we are in Indiana. Maggie: You little cooker somes fun. Glad the vehicle is back to normal. They sure are a part of our lives now. You really have issues if you don't have a car anymore. Gail: Good to hear from you. Glad you get to see your dad more. How is the job front looking for Wayne??? Well, I am hungry so gonna go grab a bite to eat. Have a nice day all. Faye |
Good afternoon, ladies. A lovely day of 84 degrees.
I swam laps this morning! It sure felt good. PT is only 2 more weeks after this one. Faye, I should make lists of what to take to retreat, but I solved that by packing a bag with basic quilting tools and one with toiletries and I keep them on the shelf. Then I just have to add fabric and tread and grab one of my hand quliting boxes. I usually just take jeans and t-shirts or sweatshirt, underwear and pjs. That's pretty much what we all wear. Nothing fancy. Of course, I wear my sequined baseball cap because I always wear it to retreats and people now expect it. I always have bruises somewhere on my legs. I seem to not be able to walk by the dresser without running into it. Jean, you are a good bookkeeper! Always nice to have a second career. Maggie, you have more gadgets and appliances than anyone I know! I have one of those dental picks from my dentist, too. I use a battery powered toothbrush. Gail, I glad everything is okay for you! |
It's been a long day for this old gal! The doctor changed my meds again so have to go back in 2 weeks. My bp was higher this time than 2 weeks ago so he took me off the pill I've been on for 2 weeks. (It wasn't the same name as yours, Faye.) The blood work didn't include an iron check, but the lab had enough to do that, so I still don't know if the count is high enough to donate blood next week or not. I hope they will call tomorrow or I will have to call them.
Maggie --It's nice of you to share your food with Paul. Unless he loves to cook I'm sure he appreciates your cooking! :T I often will brush my teeth mid-day if they begin to feel "furry." "Gma" -- I'm glad you and Jack were able to get some sleep in the recliners. I have done that several times over the years. Sioux City is 83,000+ range and the USPS is closing 2 of their branch offices. People can buy stamps or mail packages at a grocery store near each closed po. Our local mail is being shipped (temporarily, I hope) to Des Moines to be sorted and then back here again. I can't believe that saves money with the price of fuel. :dunno: Susan -- I'm glad you got enjoy :swim: laps again. I'll notice a bruise on my arm or leg and have no clue how or what I did to get it. I know you are looking forward to your retreat this weekend. Enjoy! I am heading off to bed! See you tomorrow! |
Good morning to you all. I am up and at 'em to get going on the food to take to Kelly's friend's family today so my rolls are on to rise and when I get finished posting I will get out there and make apple squares. Around 11:30 I will put on the two pot roasts and the carrots and such then make gravy when it is all done and bag it up and take it and Fortune over to Kelly's. This is going to be the last day I post until I get back so probably won't talk to you gals until a week from Sunday. I have lots to do to get packed and such and many errands to run today and tomorrow so I am pretty swamped.
Susan: I have a list to check off of things to do, like turn off computer, turn off ac, stop mail, etc, a list of food and drinks we are going to take, a list with the electronics, ie cell phones, chargers, portable dvd player, laptop, etc, a list with Fortune's stuff on it, a list of clothing and a list with all hygiene stuff I take. I believe in being prepared so I take stuff like ibuprophen, zantac, bandaids and salve, stomach upset meds, extra contacts and supplies, etc, etc. So, will all of that, my lists are pretty darn long, but I never forget anything that way. When we come home, I use a method of starting from the wall where the window is and turning off lights as I have cleared that area of everything. I move all our stuff towards the door to be put on the luggage carrier. I never leave anything because I go over everything twice before I turn out a light. Next year is going to be a different story as the cabin will be much smaller, etc, and our bags have to go out into the hall the night before we disembark so that will be a bit different for us, but I am sure I will figure out a way! Jack only has 2 more PT appts, one today and one on the 28th then he is finished and one more ortho dr appt on the 28th. He goes back to work on the 17th of October. Jean: I don't know what new med my dr will put me on next month, but I am not going back on Norvasc that is for sure. It took me months to get the swelling down in my feet and legs from that med. Sounds like you had a busy day yesterday. Hope everyone has a great day and weekend and week next week. Talk to you all when I get back!! I will tell "Elvis" you all said hello! Faye |
Good Morning, Flowers! It's a COLD 37 degrees, with sunshine, as I sit here typing. Ernie wants the door or window open and just doesn't understand; he's been adamantly complaining every since we got up. I need to go to the grocery store this morning, have "crafty" club this afternoon, and hopefully will head for the fair later this afternoon and beat the predicted evening rain.
"Gma" -- I make travel lists too and cross off as I get ready. I will have a list even if we are just going to the lake or to see the kids, when I have things to take. I can walk right by something sitting by the door and forget to grab it. :o I hope you have a relaxing fun time in Branson and the weather is nice. It will be good to just get away. :cheer: It's nice of Kelly to keep Fortune for you. I'm sure he is more comfortable there. I need to get my shoes, make my list, and head to the store. Have a terrific Thursday and enjoy! :D  |
