Talking Steel Magnolias ~ # 27

GOOD MID AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

It is way up in the high 90's this day in the Heartland and expected to climb even higher as the day progresses. I am making a huge pot of Hurst's Cajun 15 Bean Soup which is 2 p+ for 1/2 cup. And that is the amount with some ham in it. I love using that bag of dried bean soup. I had a tad bit of several kinds of beans left over from my Christmas jars of soup mix that I threw in. Also I added some liquid smoke and other spices we like. There will be plenty to freeze in portion sized bags. A lot of times if I eat a small serving of this before dinner and then I don't eat much dinner at all. Will loves this recipe and I always make enough for several go-rounds. For dinner I will make a green salad and garlic french bread to go with a bowl of the soup. Y'all come on over and join us.

GAIL You would love these two dogs for they are personality plus. I hope your walk was in the cool of the day. I wither outside in this heat. Too bad my fat doesn't melt.

JEAN Oh what fun ~ you get to register the kiddoes for VBS. They are fun to talk to trying to squeeze information out of. It is too bad that that levee didn't hold. Try moving into an RV and see how much "stuff" you get rid of.

DONNA FAYE I feel for you with your sick pooch. I can just see you downstairs rocking your baby. What in the world do the docs do to unpinch a nerve in a foot? Can they go in and move it a bit I wonder. Or zap it so it has no feeling maybe. That poor Jack.

Gotta go check on my bean soup. Type at y'all later.

Good Afternoon, Flowers! It's 98 degrees and windy in my neighborhood this afternoon. A cold front is on the way supposedly. I actually sold a few things in the gift shop this morning and did some cutting/sorting for the volunteer director. Bob came and we ate lunch in the cafeteria, then I headed for church. I KNOW I am way too OLD and have NO patience with younger kids who don't mind and are rowdy! We had another 30+ show up to register today so I kept going to the office to make copies of name tags and registration papers. Half of the parents couldn't fill them out so had their older children doing it for them. One kid was climbing over the pews and I said, "I have a REAL problem with that!" to the gal helping me register kids. She got up and went into the sanctuary and told him to sit down. Later I noticed an older 6th grade helper had him by the arm and was following him around. I'd have had him in a cage, no doubt about it! Later the gal in charge mentioned he would have "time out" today because he was so wild. After we finished registering the late arrivals, I went to the office to do my posting that I should have done yesterday. I should get busy around here but feel like I've put in a full day on the go.

"Gma" -- I'm so sorry about Fortune! I hope his tummy is tolerating the food you gave to him this morning. Did you two catch a few zzzz's in the recliner? The funny thing about this gal at church is that her husband is part of the praise band, so cheerful, fun, and outgoing. He looks younger than she does; she's wrinkled (from too much sun?) and wears her gray hair like the Dutch Paint boy. She just looks crabby and mad.

Gail -- I know I lose weight better when I walk. But I'm like you and hate to put forth the effort because I'm lazy. Bob will walk with me but he walks so much faster I'm several feet behind bringing up the rear. I never knew southern dogs bark with an accent! I've teased for a dog to walk and Bob says we can have one if we move to the country, which will probably never happen. I hope your FIL will be a good sport and mind his ps & qs if and when he comes to your house. Our crops are "up" but many farm fields have ponds in them from the rain, not to mention all the flooded farm land along the Missouri River.

Maggie -- Bean soup sounds yummy, but think I will pass on this hot day. Thanks for the invite though. I have way too many things I treasure and can't part with yet; I would have a major panic attack if I had to move everything into an RV.

I'm off to change clothes and get comfortable for the rest of the day. Enjoy a relaxing evening!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Good morning to you ladies. Boy is it hot here. It only got down to around 81 last night and it is steamy to boot. It looks like it is going to continue for at least 10 more days. We are expecting some thundershowers today but it will only make it more humid, it won't cool things off any.

I now have my yarn to get the slippers done and the scarf, but it is so hot at the moment knitting is not something I want to do. I have some time to get them done and the other sock doesn't have to be finished until August so have time for that too. The slippers seem to be a quick knit, I hope.

Jack is on limited duty until Friday when he goes back to the dr. He just sits at his desk with his foot propped up. Don't know what good that will do other than he isn't walking on it so it should have time to heal either the muscle or to relax that nerve. Feet are funny things, but we need them sure enough.

Jack said he gained about a lb this last week when we took the trip to Nashville. I didn't have the heart to tell him I lost 2 lbs! I decided not to do a weigh in this week but wait until next, but I wanted a reference point on what I gained being away from eating at home.

Fortune is much better. He associates his meds though with those pill pockets I buy so he won't take them. I put them in one this morning and he sniffed and walked away so I rolled it into a piece of bologna and down they went. I have a friend with Yorkies who take constant pills and she said to go and get a bag of those precooked frozen meatballs, thaw a few out at a time and use them that they work wonders. She says she has used them for several years and the dogs haven't caught on yet! He will eat, but only if I put it in Jack's chair. I don't like to start this, but I want him to eat so for now, I put a towel in the chair and let him have at it. I still have him on rinsed ground sirloin and rice. I am going to give regular dog food a go tomorrow, but I am not too optimistic about it. I just hope we don't have to feed him this stuff for life if he won't go back to dog food. Ahh well, that's what you get with a sick dog sometimes. They think he just got excited about riding in the car and taking a trip then he was in a hotel room and all of it caused him tummy to be upset. Jack and I have a "battle" plan for next time though so we won't have this.

Jean: I used to know an elderly lady that wore her hair that way. You know, that actress Linda Hunt wears her hair like that with the real short bangs and the bobbed kind of cut. Personally, I think the look is a bit young, not the bobbed cut, it is cute but those short bangs. I am a curmudgeon around kids who don't behave too and there seem to be a lot of them. I know the Mexicans that live here don't discipline their kids and you go into the doctors and they are running all over the place, climbing on the furniture and whatnot. Drives me nuts. I am a grouch I guess as I like kids that listen. All kids are rambunctious and should be, but when you tell them to stop it they should stop it. I think you ought to send the kid packing and tell his parents if the kid can't behave and listen they can keep him home. Those VBS teachers aren't babysitters and don't have time to do day care. Hope you had a nice evening. I put a roast and carrots in the crockpot and it was yummy. Had some mashed potatoes and some gravy made with ff beef stock.

Maggie: From what I understand when you pinch a nerve or pull a muscle in your foot the only thing you can do is try to avoid walking on it until it heals. I have done it before and man it hurts like the devil until it gets better. It is like walking on glass or something. On Monday night I was really scared frankly. He seemed to be breathing really hard not panting, but breathing and his little heart was just jumping. I put him next to me and just petted and talked to him for about an hour and he settled down and went to sleep. I think it was mostly because he had horrible diahrrea and you know that feeling where you think you are going to lose it all the time, think what a dog feels like when he doesn't understand what is happening to him. I think that is what was going on. He is on the mend though and feeling better though not bouncing around yet. He has barked to go outside, which he wasn't doing before. He was so great at the hotel though and the staff loved him as he was quiet as a mouse. They had some other little dog there that yipped constantly. They had to be in a room close by because I could hear it. I am really impressed with this hotel. They put the pet owners on the first floor for one thing so it is easy to take them out, they have a pet area to walk them and best thing of all, it doesn't cost one red cent to bring him. We walked into the room and it smelled fresh and clean and no dog scents or pets scents at all. We were going to dinner and saw a cat sitting in a window as we were pulling out. Don't see that much as cats don't like to travel and usually get car sick.

Well gals, you have a nice day and try to keep cool. Faye here in Memphis

Good morning! It's supposed to get up to 97 today. Today, I'm going to get my hair done. And then around 4:30 my granddaughters come over.

Maggie, I didn't go for a walk yesterday. I got side-tracked and because I'm not totally committed to walking in this heat it didn't get done. I have a treadmill but right now it's folded up in the corner of my bedroom making way for a recliner we moved in there for my FIL sit to in while watching tv during the day. That is the only tv that will be available to him since he will not be able to navigate the stairs going down into the family room. We do have a small tv in the kitchen but no chairs that are comfortable for him. And today is out of the question for walking outside. The ozone layer, according to the people who know and tell us, say it's extremely bad out today. Your soup sounds delicious. Whenever I make soup I have to freeze it because with Wayne being such a fussy eater it would go bad before I finished it. Can you imagine going through life thinking the only good soups are canned Campbell's tomato soup and chicken noodle soup?! (The kind that needs to be re-constituted with water.) Anyway, that in MY Wayne!

Jean, you are not the only one that has no patience for unruly kids! I have no patience with them and I get annoyed (to put it politely) with their parents for allowing them to act the way they do. Sometimes my youngest granddaughter is a handful and as much as love her sometimes I'm glad to see her go home. I can't take it when kids will not listen and keep doing whatever they are doing. And I don't think it's my age either--I've always been that way. So has Wayne for that matter. Needless to say our daughters when they were young didn't get away with much! And Jean...when Wayne walks with me, he's always a step or two faster and I've tried telling him to go ahead; I'll catch up with him. He says no to me because he says him walking faster makes me walk faster therefore I get more out of my walk. Maybe so but goodness gracious I'm out of breath! He's been so tired after work he hasn't walked with me and I don't have the heart to ask him to go with me....and that's IF I go for a walk. I will look for any excuse not to walk even though I like walking. I just have to get started! And yeah...dogs born in the south have a southern bark!

Donna Faye, yesterday I was moving my yarn and knitting supplies to the closet in the office and going through all that yarn. I've told you before that I have a lot...but I really have way too much yarn! Have you bought yarn in the past and then forget what you planned on using it for? I have some really ugly yarn and haven't clue as to why I bought it at the time. I know there was a purpose! I just bagged it up and maybe my oldest granddaughter will do something with it. She can knit a little bit. Good luck with your pup wanting to eat dog food again. A lot of times when they get the taste for people food they don't want to go back. Every dog we ever had always thought they were one of us! I sure do hope Jack's foot feels better today. Bless his heart.

Well, I need to get a move-on. My hair appointment is at 10:30 and my hairdresser lives about 45 minutes away. I go to her in her home. I love the way she cuts and highlights my hair. Her prices are fantastic--saves me 50%.

Good Morning, Flowers! The sun is shining and it's a "cooler" 75 degrees this morning. The humidity is lower and that makes such a difference. I've been to get my nails done, have a quick WW stop on my way to lunch bunch, and then meet with the pastor this afternoon. He's got some computer program for the church volunteers and I have a feeling he's going to want me to be "in charge."

"Gma" -- I feel for Jack! I know when my feet hurt I just hurt all over. I'll bet his pound up is gone by next week. to you on losing 2#s, even if it wasn't an official weigh in! I'm glad Fortune is feeling better. He probably thinks he is a people so why not eat people food. I haven't fixed a roast for awhile and that sounds good!

Gail -- I'm sending some cooler weather your way! It sounds funny to hear the weatherman say a cold front is moving into our area. I like to walk first thing in the morning and get it over with. If I don't I'm real good at putting it off later in the day, and by the time I go to bed it never happened. Our youngest grandson could be a challenge for a teacher trying to keep order in her classroom. I blame part of that on his dad because when Kolby gets hyper he "rewards" him by removing him from the scene and either going to his room to play with toys, watch a movie on tv, or anything else that might interest him. His dad just claims he was the same way when he was little! Kolby is much better behaved when his dad isn't around, sorry to say. Ian has lots of energy but when an adult tells him to settle down he does. Bob and I go to the same hairdresser who has a shop in her home also. I ALWAYS have to wait, even if I'm the first appointment. Yesterday Bob got a haircut and he was home in a half hour! He rarely has to wait -- not fair!

I need to change clothes and get moving. Have a wonderful Wednesday and enjoy!

Talking Wonderful Wednesday

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

Well folks it is 81 here this day and supposed to top out 10 degrees hotter before the day is over. Another good day to stay indoors. Those beans I cooked yesterday were the best ever. Got a huge bowl of them in the fridge and will portion them out and get serving sized bags into the freezer. I think this day I will rotisserie a chicken. Beanie has started something I don't particularly like. He likes to play with my reading glasses. I have a pair on the side table in the front room and another on the kitchen table and another on my desk here in my office. I have had to make a search for the ones out of the front room and Will found the ones out of this office on the floor under his desk. Not chewed up or harmed but with lots of puppy kisses all over the lenses. So far he hasn't gotten hold of my "real" glasses or shades because when I take them off I always put them in their cases and on a shelf. I think when I leave my office from now on I will move my chair out so far he can't jump from it to the top of my desk. He is like a cat with his jumping. He can really fly through the air. He was able to let himself in from the back yard. To go out he just pushes out the edge of the screen door but has never opened it before but today he must have gotten his paw in the edge of it and opened it. Always something new with that pup.

DONNA FAYE Our dogs groomer gave me a bunch of recipes for dogs. She used to show dogs and is a wealth of information. Here is a list of what she gave me that she recommends highly and if you want any of them I can send them your way or they may be on the web also or you may have them already.
DOG FOOD & TREATS
Biscuits: Cheese Bone Cookies; Cheese Nugget; Veggie Thins; Garlic; Peanut Butter; Natural Dog Biscuits; Ranch Biscuits
Breadsticks
Cooking & Storing Notes
Cupcakes: Beef Yam, Parsley Liver, Pumpkin Raisin
Digestive Help
Stew
Treats, Turkey & Yam
Puppy Milk Formula
I have made up some of these and made doggie Christmas Wreaths to give to folks that have pups.

GAIL I am so fortunate that Will has eclectic taste and will eat anything I fix except some kinds of fish. Sure makes it easy for me who likes to cook. I can read a recipe and know if we will like it or not. One thing we tried once that we both didn't like was spaghetti squash. That is the most awful squash that is on the planet. Exercise isn't anything that I enjoy either my friend. It is just something I force myself to do on occasion. I am sure your FIL will be as comfortable as he will let himself be at your home. The operative word in that sentence is "let himself be" you know. I am convinced by knowing you that you will have things fixed up nicly for him so then it is up to him. Gotta love the onrey ole fellow. Prickley, that is what he is.

JEAN How nice for you that your temperature has gone down some and taken humidity with it. Are you getting any of that smoke from the fires out west? News said that smoke is far reaching and we have some. Don't ya know that one of the managers natures is to get the busiest person to take on more. That is the nature of the thing. Find someone that has a lot to do and manages their time and ask them to do something more because you can handle it. It is called "pileing on." You are a valuable person to have around. Kids. Makes me laugh when I think of my sisters kids. When she had them over to my house and they acted perfectly fine. She asked why when she took them to my house that they acted so nice. They told her that Aunt Maggie didn't allow them to be bad. I didn't allow it. I told them if they wanted to spend time at my house they would follow "my" house rules. They said OK and we all got along great. Kids like having boundries set for them. that is the Child Behavior Specialist coming out. Free advice.

SUSAN How goes it with you this day?

All y'all have a wonderful Humpday.

Hi everyone! It's HOT outside. In fact it's so hot Wayne came home early today (to his delight) as they shut the plant down. It has something to do with the electrical grid in that part of Maryland. I went to get my hair done and I like it but I think my left side might be a tad longer than the right or it's laying differently. I can't figure it out. Amy is supposed to come over this evening so I'll ask her. I can always call my hairdresser; she'll be glad to look at it and fix it. It might just be me. I got stuck in awful traffic coming home. A semi drove off the highway and flipped over. I don't know if the driver was hurt or not. Hope not.

Maggie, your Beanie is a smart one! Better watch out! Let me tell you about my FIL. Now keep in mind I do care for the old man. My mother never cared to be around my FIL. He just got under her skin. One day, my FIL told Wayne that he didn't like my Mom. Wayne told him, "don't worry about it, Dad; she doesn't like you either!" My FIL got offended! It was okay for him not to like her but not the other way around!

Jean, you call the group you meet for lunch "Lunch Bunch"? THAT is what my group of lady friends call our group. The Lunch Bunch. We've been meeting once a month for lunch now for over 20 years! I just had lunch with them on Monday. My youngest granddaughter has a way of tuning everyone out. Sometimes I have to turn off the tv to get her attention. This annoys the heck out of Wayne. And you always have to tell her two, three...times to stop doing whatever. Sometimes I have put her in time out in the boring living room where there is no tv.

Well, I think I'll go call my hairdresser....got a doctor's appointment tomorrow.

Maggie -- There is a nice breeze coming in the window . . . around Ernie who is parked there. He has a shelf but gets into the window sill; I just hope the screen is strong enough to keep him from falling out. He likes to watch the little dog across the street and all the kids who come and go from that house. Maybe Beanie will take a fancy to something besides your glasses once he figures out he can't get to them anymore. Bob has the habit of leaving a toothpick or dental floss "wad" next to where he watches tv, and Ernie will bat them to the floor; then I find them in different places all around the house. My car is covered with "something" that looks like sawdust and I'm wondering if it is soot from the AZ fire. We've had so much wind lately anything is possible. Last night the sunset was a dull orange but with a hazey glow to it. There were 4 more new kids who showed up for Bible School today. The "fun" for the day was to put rocks in a small fountain that looks like a large rock itself. After BS let out, the director saw two boys drinking the fountain water that was shooting much too high because of the rocks.

Gail -- It's nice that Wayne got to come home early today. My lunch bunch is high school teachers and secretaries that retired the same time I did. Once in awhile we get others from the elementary or middle school but it's always the same high school foursome no matter what. We meet once a month all year long.

I brought my church project home with me and am trying to set up a different email account for the volunteers. I'm not quite sure how I got myself into this.

Good morning everyone. It is pleasant at the moment, but it is going to be a hot one again today. We have no end in sight on this one, they haven't opened the pool for us to go swimming in either. We can drive over to Kelly's and may do that some afternoon after jack gets off work to cool off. I hate to disturb them when they get home from work. People want alone time not company even if they are only in their backyard!

I am running out of stuff to fix that doesn't go in the oven. We are going to have boneless pork chops and mashed potatoes and I think the rest of that asparagus tonight for dinner. I fixed baked potatoes and sticky mutant chickens for dinner last night. I did them in the crockpot but they don't brown that way so turned on the exhaust fan and popped them in the oven to brown for about half an hour. When it was all said and done, I only ate a few bites and none of my potato. It was too hot to eat. I ate a little something a bit later but still stayed in points.

Did you see Skinny Cow is making candy now? Jack has a sweet tooth and I bought the three different kinds they had, Jack wouldn't try the one at all, he didn't like the little turtle things and he liked the chocolate bars, ok, but likes his slimfast snacks better. Ok then, go back to them sorry I tried something different..... The man drives me nuts with his pickiness sometimes. If I say anything it is a big tado about it so I clamp my jaw shut most of the time, but sometimes just tell him off. I guess after 38+ years I can do that.

Gail: My mil was a cold woman, not very approachable at all. We started out pretty rough because her daughter and I are close in age and the daughter was very jealous of my relationship with her brother and caused a lot of strife with myself and my mil. I would open my big mouth and put my foot in it. In later years, she has been gone since 1989, we got along fine. She adored my son and sort of tolerated the two girls, mine and my sil's dd. My fil was a whole different story. He was an angel and I loved him dearly. Unfortunately,he died just 2 years after Jack and I were married. He was a lot like Jack in a lot of ways, but a very shy man. I lived with them when Jack went to sea the first time and Jay was a baby. He was up in the crawl space fixing the electrical in the living room and something happened. I heard him say, "damn" and then he put his head through the hole in the ceiling and apologized to me all redfaced as I was sitting in the living room. He was just a dear. My mom was a character and then some. She was a cross between Hallmark cards Maxine and Janet Evanovich's book character Grandma Mazur. My dad was a sweet man, but very loud voiced. He used to embarrass me in church as his whisper was what most people's regular voice sounded like. All of them have been dead many years now.

Jean: Another project huh? You don't suppose they hypnotize you into thinking you want the job, do you? Boys will be boys. Some of the things they think of to do. At least they weren't trying to destroy the fountain you have to give them that. Fortune loves the kids across the street and you know they are outside when you let him out and he makes a beeline for the gate and his little butt is up in the air and he is trying his darndest to look under the gate. It is really cute. Last night the neighbors had a rowdy group of girls out on their patio and I had let Fortune out. He was at the fence trying to see through the slats. It was hilarious. He kept turning his head trying to get his eyeball in the right position. Guess he is feeling better. Now to get him to eat dog food again. I put some out, but don't know how it will go.

Maggie: I will keep the recipes in mind. With him being older, the doctor kind of has strict rules with his food and especially with the kidney thing. Thanks a lot for the info though.

Susan: Hope you are doing well.

I guess I should go. I have downstairs chores done, but need to go upstairs and clean bathrooms. I should have done it yesterday but waited too long and it got too hot. Have a great Thursday all. Faye

Good Morning, Flowers! The sun is hiding and it's windy in my neighborhood today. The temperature was 52 degrees when I went downstairs this morning -- talk about a drop! We are supposed to get some rain this afternoon. That's just what the Missouri River does NOT need. I am home for the day and am debating which chore to do first. I have to make some bars to take to a friend, whose mother died, along with some paper goods.

"Gma" -- I'm trying really hard to send some cooler weather your way. I don't like the sudden changes in temperatures; I just wish we'd have some mild sunny days. I haven't seen the Skinny Cow candy -- I think that is a funny name for anything edible. It will be interesting to see if Fortune will eat the dog food. After being gone every day this week, I really need to sort through the paper piles and vacuum cat fur. Ernie should be bald by now!

I'm off to get dressed and get moving. Hope you all have a terrific Thursday and enjoy!

Jean -- from Iowa!

Good morning, ladies! Going to be 100 degrees today. At least the humidity isn't bad.

I spent the day with Glory yesterday. She had 2 other ladies and myself over for a sew day. After they left, we went to Happy Belly for dinner. We (work group) are going out to lunch today at Back Fin for one of the guy's birthday.

Faye, I've been having swollen feet and ankles with this hot weather. I really hate it. I'm glad Fortune is feeling better. My cat was in the cat hospital with pneumonia in a baby incubator (no less), and the girls there loved him and spoon fed him to get him to eat. When he came home and I fed him, he sat in front of his dish crying because he wanted me to feed him. Yeah, you bet.

Jean, you might need to go back to school and learn to say no or you'll soon be working full time at the church for free - unless that's what you want to do. LOL. Cool air sounds wonderful. I heard on the radio this morning it was 100 degrees in Chicago yesterday and they were expecting 60 for the high today. What a change.

Maggie, too hot for bean soup but maybe a nice chilled fruit soup would be good. Maybe Will could get Beanie a pair of glasses at the dollar store that he could play with. They sell reading glass at ours.

Gail, did you get your haircut straightened out?

Keep cool and have a great day!

Talking Titilating Thursday

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

It is 74 as I type and not expected to get higher than 78 today. That is okeydokey with me. I would like it to stay this way but it won't. Will is off to his volunteer job at the museum where he is learning so much history about this place. I got my order today that included the dry spice canisters which are 3/4 inch by 1/2 inch. They say they will last up to a year. Well this is a good time to get them in my favorite spices for this is the time of year the humidity clumps things. If they work like they say I will reorder them again. So after while I will decide which ten spices need to be de-clumped. I know for sure the lemon pepper will get one. I used to use rice which works great but in the spices that have big holes in the shaker top the rice would come out and I would have to pick the pieces out and that wasn't fun. I have a jar of BBQ dry rub I mixed up that clumps bad so I will use one of these in for sure. You can tell I am a happy camper to have gotten these.

DONNA FAYE I can just imagine your little pooch peaking under you gate. Dogs are so much fun aren't they. I get a lot of laughs with our two. And laughter is so good for a person. I sure hope this week of having his foot propped up at work helps with Jacks foot problem. I got a chuckle about the candy you bought him. Will buys the dogs treats at the dollar store because they have the "good for dogs kind." Anyway he brought home a bag of treats for me also. They are called Atomic Fieballs. What we used to call jaw breakers. These are so hot ~ really . So hot it put a blister on the roof of my mouth. They are 3 for 2 points+ and I surely can't eat that many in one day! Even someone like me that loves hot chilis. Each candy is individially wrapped which is good for they will probably last me a couple of years. Definitely not candy for kids.

JEAN It is good that you want to keep busy after retirement. Keeps you busy and on your toes so to speak. They say that when a person retires they need to find something to occupy their time and it looks like you have done just that.

SUSAN Is Back Fin a sea food place? Sounds like a good place for a party. One of our favorite sea food places out on the left coast is the
Whales Tail. They have the best ever clam chowder. And the Lobster Trap has the best lobster tail and steak combo. We only have Long John Silvers here and you know how that is. Good idea to get Beanie his own set of reading glasses. Maybe then he will leave mine alone.

GAIL You know having one side of your hair longer than the other is the style. It would drive me bats. Well battier anyway. How did Waynes interview go last Friday or is it this Friday... My memory sometimes slips but it hasn't tripped and fallen yet. YET ~ being the operative word.

All y'all have a wonderful afternoon. I am off now to find some lunch.

Maggie, I just had another thought - maybe Beanie is trying to tell you he needs glass to see better - do they have doggie optometrists?

I love history - living where I do I know tons about the revolutionary and civil wars.

The Back Fin is a fine seafood restaurant. Luckily they had soft shelled crabs today so that's what I had grilled with collards and a side salad. Yum!

It's 103 degrees right now. I came home and said a prayer of thanks for AC I can tell you. I'm in until I go to the Y tomorrow.

Susan -- When you mention eating at the Happy Belly I always get a BIG grin! I'm good at saying "no" when it involves working with the kids at church. I like to keep busy but sometimes it seems like everything is going on at the same time. The first few days of each month are busy ones for me.

Maggie -- The wind has kicked up big time and I notice there are raindrops on the window now. I'm going to find a pair of socks and put on my tennies. I remember the jawbreakers! I usually had to take it out and get a drink of water to cool my mouth down. Have fun with your spice canisters.

Hey y'all! It. Is. HOT. I mean it. No fooling! Hot!

Okay, went to the doctor this morning. The heart monitor I wore for 24 hours showed an irregular heart beat and then...picked up atrial fibrilliation (sp?). All that blood work was fine. Sooooo...this afternoon I got an ecocardiogram and I go see the cardiologist next Thursday about that. Also, told the doctor this morning that I couldn't tell him the last time I woke feeling well. So now he's ordered a sleep apnea test. He said everything could be related. Anway, he says my heart is causing me to feel tired all the time. And the nausea and sometimes dizzy spells. Well, we'll get the "ol' girl" fixed.

Maggie, yes I got my haircut fixed! Inbetween doctor visits. I don't like that one side longer than the other thing. And that is what Lisa (hairdresseer) told me--that it's in style. Well, I want my hair even. Of course, now my hair is shorter than ever but almost to my chin on the sides. I like it sloping down long on the sides with the back short. I'm fine with that but please no fancy stuff for me because I can't style it the way a hairdresser can. God bless her she fixed it. Now that you mentioned it....Wayne's interview with that other company?! Oh. My. Gosh. The pay is $5 less an hour. The hours are from 5pm to 5:30am. He would probably have to work weekends. Wayne said he knows his face turned white! He was told he could start right away....Wayne said (very politely), "no thank you" and RAN out the door! He says he's looking at the job he has now in a whole new perspective...

...and speaking of Wayne...he's home. I'll be back later.
