ShelleyM 12-20-2002 07:18 AM

Welcome back Doni!! Congratulations on trying to kick the smoking habit.

I ate soooo much yesterday. The office people had a lunch where we all brought stuff in. Not only that, with all the goodies the teachers and kids gave us, it was like a smorgasboard!! I did okay there, but when I got home, I starting eating the goodies they had given us. I figured I had already screwed up, so what the h@ll! Peanut brittle, white chocolate peppermint bark, butter cookies, etc. That was yesterday. Today I am back to journaling. I did good for 2 days, so I am going to try and get back into the groove again today.

Dee-Please, please don't overdo it!! Your heart can't take all that shoveling. Your DH should know better than to let you out there! Let the snow pile up until someone else does it!!!

Sherry-You need to slow down, too!!

We already have 70 people that have sent in their RSVP's for the Bat Mitzvah saying that they are coming, and I still have about 65 more invitations out for families!! I am getting very nervous. The event is Jan. 11. At least I have the holiday vacation to prepare everything. I bought 3 turkeys the other day. I still need to get at least 2 more. They are 23lb. ones. My DH is going to smoke them and slice them up for the occasion. We are also having some traditional jewish foods. We are doing this as cheaply as possible, but it will be good!!

I am going out for a jog now.

Have a great day!!

Deelite 12-20-2002 10:56 AM

Welcome back Doni!!! Were here for you.

ANY ONE WANTS SOME SNOW????
I know Sherry does.
I think that I have shoveled from here to tennesse already.
It is still coming down.
I just came back in from shoveling while my lard @ss son was playing on th pc.
Do you think that he might offer to help?
Oh well Larry will be home around 1:00 and he will continue to bail us out.
I remember one storm we had over the weekend and we didn't shovel.
Well when we tried to get out we were literally snowed in.
We couldn't even open our doors. There was about 3 feet of snow against both of them.
We had to call a neighbor to dig us out.
It is suppose to continue to snow the whole weekend.
Well I guess it is the last day of work for most of you girls.
It must be a releif to know that the break is here.
Tonight we are going to a christmas/retirement dinner again for Larry's dad.
I have been making very wise choices this week in the food area.
I don't want to gain weight this christmas.
I already have enough to get off without adding to it.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

gdeann 12-20-2002 12:47 PM

Dee: Tell that Son of yours that if he wants to continue having a warm place to live, food in front of him and the pleasure of sitting and playing PC games, then he better get his butt up and help Mama out!!!! Enjoy your snow...and keep it there!!!!! Please do not send it my way!!!!!!

Doni: you and your daughter looked so pretty in the picture!!!

Shelley: I bet you need a big hug today??? {{{HUGS}}} I know this is a stressful time for you...maybe the day of the festivities you can relax and enjoy!!!

ShelleyM 12-20-2002 05:55 PM

ShelleyM 12-22-2002 08:30 AM

Glad to hear most of you have your shopping done!!

Dee-PUT DOWN THAT SHOVEL NOW!!!!!

My mom and I went to see my daughter's Nutcracker performance on Sanibel Island yesterday. She was beautiful!! I am so proud of her. The studio that she goes to hosts the Nutcracker every year with several performers from the NY City Ballet performing along with the students. The thing was awesome. The best part was that it only lasted 1 hr.! My DH and his mom went to the night time performance. There was 2 shows, and I had to get her on Sanibel by 1:30 yesterday. It costs $3.00 to go over the bridge, so I stayed until her performance at 4PM, then hubby went to the 7PM show to be able to bring her home. The tolls totaled $12.00 between Friday and Saturday because she had a 4 hour rehersal on Saturday, so I didn't stay the whole time on the Island. If it had not been raining, I would have stayed and walked the beach, but the weather on Friday was not good!

I am going to try for a jog this morning, hopefully with no poop accidents!!!

Have a great day!

gdeann 12-22-2002 09:57 AM

Shelley: I bet your daughter was beautiful!!!!! Tell her that I am very impressed with her ambition to become a professional dancer!!! I have a cousin with a young daughter that travels with an area ballet team. They have been performing the Nutcracker. She's probably around 13 years old.

Doni: Glad to hear that your shopping is done!!! Now, if your like me, you need to sit back and rest and wonder how your going to pay the bills!!!!! Actually, I try to budget Christmas in the last 6 months of the year.

Well, baking & cleaning today........YUCK!!!!!!!!!:D

Sherry 12-22-2002 10:47 AM

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
Everywhere you go;
Take a look in the five-and-ten, glistening once again,
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
Toys in every store,
But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be
On your own front door.

A pair of hopalong boots and a pistol that shoots
Is the wish of Barney and Ben;
Dolls that will talk and will go for a walk
Is the hope of Janice and Jen;
And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
Everywhere you go;
There's a tree in the Grand Hotel,
one in the park as well,
The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas;
Soon the bells will start,
And the thing that will make them ring,
is the carol that you sing,
Right within your heart.

Jennelle 12-22-2002 11:12 AM

Okay, girls, we FINALLY got our tree last night and it's all decorated. It looks great! Hubby hung the lights, and daughter did all the decorating work. So far, neither of the dogs have tried to lift their legs to it...

I am taking the kids Christmas shopping today. I have not bought ANYTHING! Ugh. I hate the crowds at the mall, but it's my own fault!

siamese 12-22-2002 12:26 PM

yes im done but as you said ok now how do i pay the bills.
how do you budget for christmas?
any tips for next year would be greatly appriated.
i cannot spell that word!

Merry Christmas everyone...

Sorry haven't posted much, have been lurking tho. Finally got all my shopping done and now need to remember where I put them all.
Glad to see everyone is doing well and in the season spirit.
Welcome back Doni..

My new year resolution is to be better at posting to my friends who make that effort to post everyday and let each and everyone of us how they are doing.

Happy Holidays

siamese 12-22-2002 01:44 PM

hi viccki and thanks!
that is a great resolution.
i need to be more acctountable.
you gals make me feel so much better.
debbie how you doing?
doni

gdeann 12-22-2002 03:48 PM

HO-HO-HO!!!!!!!HO-HO-HO!!!!!!

It' begining to look alot like Christmas!!!!!!!!! Only 3 more days!!!!! I want everything!!!!!!!!

My new years resolution will be to finish the first 49 things on my list before I start the 50th!!!!!

Glad to see ya post Vickster!!! Did ya find those gifts yet??? :smug:

Jenelle: I bet your tree is pretty!!! And I bet you will be worn out tonight with all of the shopping!!!

Doni: I have two kids with b-days the same month as Christmas. I try to buy a bit here and there throughout the year and I keep an envelope that I stuff money into... gift certificates are cool because I can add them early to my shopping and never miss the money. I usually buy'em a month or so ahead, plus there is no expiration date.

I went and purchased my last gift today...it's alive!!!!! I bought my 76 year old "Mommy" a "no maintenance" aquarium, Steve set it up, then we added the little guy today. She loves animals, but with her age a dog or cat is to much work. All she will need to do with this is just feed the guy and add water every so often.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend!!! I think we are going to sit down tonight and watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation...it's a yearly before Christmas tradition. The family in the movie reminds me so much of members of our family!!!!

Sherry 12-22-2002 06:09 PM

After last year using it so much AND taking so long to pay it off, I promised myself this year that I wouldn't use it and I didn't!!!! Next year I'm going to start shopping early and buy a little at a time.Maybe that will help you too.Again....I'm so glad that you're back with us!! :grouphug:

Vicki******I'm gonna hold you on that resolution that you made!! I really hope that you will find the time to post more.I miss you so much when you're away.I'm glad you got all your shopping done! Dee****** Where are you? I miss your daily posts.I know you're so busy shoveling that snow but try to stop in for a "quickie!!" I sure wish I had some of that "WHITE STUFF!!" It would seem more like Christmas!!!! Are you all ready for Christmas? Gifts all bought & wrapped?

Ramona******I MISS YOU! I know that you're trying to make every moment special with your Son before he leaves though. How many days will you close your business for the holidays? I hope that you can jump-in here to say hello quickly.Enjoy the Holidays with your Family!! {{{ Hugs }}}

Carol*****Wanda*****Debyj*****Angel-Feathers***** If you're reading this.....I hope that you're ok and have a nice Christmas.I DO miss you and I hope that you'll return to us soon!!!!

Love To All..........
Sherry (Sher-Bear)

gdeann 12-23-2002 01:51 AM

Okay, Christmas is close enough now that most of your gifts should be purchased and under the tree.
What did you all get for your spouses and kids???
I bought Steve more "home brew" stuff and a small kegging set-up. Santa went "all out" and got him an electric guitar.... poor guy never got a Santa gift as a child. So this year I decided to treat him to an adult Christmas from ol' st. nick.
Allison requested a leap pad learning system, Liz wanted a CD player for her pickup and a stethoscope....... so this ol' santa is flat busted and ready to see what the Elves rounded up for me!!!!

Sherry 12-23-2002 11:28 AM

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
Comet and Cupid and Donder and Blitzen,
But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
play in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
"Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!"

Deelite 12-23-2002 12:27 PM

Just thought that I would pop in and say Hello. Things have been busy around here and it will only get busier. Been ready for christmas a week ago or so, just lots of entertaining and parties.
Hope everyone is starting to enjoy the holiday.
Merry christmas to all my friends.
